Options for hiding pipes in the bathroom. How to close the pipes in the bathroom. Masking horizontally laid pipes

When carrying out the next repair, any owner of an apartment or house tries, first of all, to eliminate, close or redo those components and interior details that spoil appearance rooms, interfere with something or “calm” the eyes. It so happened that the designers and builders of apartments and houses did not think much about how to simplify the laying of water pipes and sewer pipes inside the bathroom and bathroom, for the most part you have to come up with something on your own and, of course, due to the usable space of the room. Therefore, it is often a dilemma how to hide the pipes in the bathroom so that both the appearance is improved and usable space not to lose, becomes the most burning problem of repair.

What pipes are in the bathroom, and how can they be hidden

Before trying to solve the problem of how to hide pipes under plaster or protective lining in the bathroom, it is worth remembering that there are at least three types of pipelines in the room:

  • Sewer pipes;
  • Water lines for hot and cold water;
  • Elements of the heating system, dryer and towel dryer.

Not each of the listed pipes can be painlessly hidden under plaster, even if such a possibility is allowed, based on the layout of the bathroom.

Note! According to the requirements of building codes and regulations, it is impossible to hide pipes connected with slip couplings and locks under the plaster of the bathroom, any detachable connections must be available for control and periodic revision.

Besides, metal pipes with cold water or sewer cast-iron blocks often become sources of condensation, so they need to be hidden so that there is minimal airflow and moisture removal by air flow.

The bathrooms of houses are in the most difficult situation, in which common communications are not brought out into separate shafts, but laid in the old Stalinist way through the ceilings, photo.

In this case, there is only one way out of the situation - to install a plastic pipe box in the bathroom. It is clear that at right approach to planning vertical pipes can be hidden behind a body kit or a box decorated to match the color and texture of the walls so that the thought of hidden communications does not even occur to you.

In this case protective screen assembled from plastic, PVC or drywall on a galvanized profile frame. If, apart from water riser, you need to hide the heating and sewer pipes, then insulation and mineral sound insulation must be laid under the decor layer. It is not enough to hide the pipes, you need to make them inaudible.

Several proven ways to hide the pipe

Over many years of practice in arranging apartment owners, both in old Khrushchevs and in newer "Czechs", have successfully learned to hide communications in the bathroom, using all sorts of tricks and interior features.

Most in good ways hide the pipe in the bathroom are considered:

  • Installation of screens and decorative panels from plastic;
  • Wall decoration with gypsum boards;
  • Disguise with furniture and interior items.

In fact, all three methods are universal and allow you to hide anything in the bathroom, from pirated electrical wiring to illegal tapping into the water supply or heating line. Installation of false walls allows not only to hide pipes, but also to additionally insulate and soundproof the bathroom, for example, in panel houses.

How to hide old wall pipes

The use of metal pipes for laying heating and plumbing in the old building codes required an indent from the plastered wall by 15-20 mm. This made it possible to periodically paint the pipes in the bathroom without any problems and regularly inspect the surface for the appearance of fistulas or rusted welds. In the warm and humid atmosphere of the bathroom, the fight against corrosion of steel pipes never ends.

Advice! Any decorative panels made of plastic or drywall should provide access to steel pipes.

It is possible to remove pipes under a protective structure made of drywall and galvanized profile within a few hours, even if there is no big practical experience work with these materials. It is enough to buy moisture-resistant material, a screwdriver, a package of self-tapping screws and several corners of a galvanized profile. All cracks and traces of self-tapping screws can be hidden under a layer of gypsum putty. After sanding and staining, the box can be painted to match the bathroom walls.

To avoid the accumulation of moisture and condensation on cold metal in a bathroom, you can hide the metal behind mesh and perforated linings that provide good ventilation homemade channel.

AT classic version plumbing and heating pipes were laid on the bathroom floor or sewer drain. The entire bundle of pipes could be hidden under one overhead plastic screen. If communications are laid along the back wall, you can close them with a bathtub or furniture set.

Modern ways to hide the pipe in the bathroom

The use of screens and decorative panels made it possible to hide communications, but at the same time greatly reduced the useful volume of the bathroom, therefore, in most cases, the owners of the apartment at the first overhaul tried to hide the plumbing and heating pipes in wall niches. Steel pipelines were sealed in polyethylene corrugations, insulated and laid in grooved niches, after which the bathroom walls were finished with plastic panels.

With the advent of polypropylene and metal-plastic pipes for water and heating, the task of hiding communications in the bathroom has become much easier to solve. The high corrosion resistance of polypropylene and the almost monolithic quality of soldering made it possible to lay pipelines directly into the walls of the bathroom.

Polypropylene has a high coefficient of thermal expansion, so the dimensions of the niche had to be increased and, at the same time, gaps had to be provided to compensate for changes in length and diameter.

To cover the bathroom wall decorative trim, I had to sheathe the entire room with plasterboard slabs. AT individual cases niche cut in brick wall it was possible to close it with narrow strips of waterproof drywall, screwed with self-tapping screws into plastic stoppers hammered into a brick. Slots and joints were sealed with paint mesh, leveled and rubbed with gypsum putty, after which the walls of the bathroom could be plastered in the usual manner.

To hide polypropylene plumbing, a niche with a depth of at least 30 cm is required. For brickwork this is not a problem, and cutting a thin concrete wall in the bathroom is no longer possible. Therefore, for new projects of apartments in frame high-rise buildings from monolithic concrete There are three main ways to hide pipes:

  1. Laying metal-plastic pipelines in the walls of the bathroom with a collector method of organizing water supply. In this case, for each point of consumption, a thin half-inch metal-plastic supply is laid, which is easy enough to hide under a layer of plaster;
  2. Transfer wiring from polypropylene pipes to the ceiling. All plumbing and heating lines, as well as wiring and ventilation ducts can be hidden behind a false ceiling;
  3. Filling pipelines in concrete screed gender. In this way, you can hide the pipes even in the Khrushchev bathroom. To compensate for thermal expansion, pipelines have to be wrapped in polyethylene foam and laid in corrugations.

It is clear that pipes hidden in this way cannot be supplied hot water at least until the end of the curing process concrete base bathroom floor.

How to hide a sewer pipe

It is more difficult to hide a sewer pipe in the bathroom. If we are talking about old cast-iron plums, then they can be hidden by removing a screen or a decorative plastic overlay under the overhead screen. The worst option is to seal cast iron concrete mortar with cladding decorative tiles. First, cast iron has a coefficient of thermal expansion two to three times higher than that of steel. Accordingly, an attempt to hide the cast-iron drain in the bathroom under a layer of concrete will automatically lead to its cracking. Secondly, wet concrete always causes rusting and corrosion of cast iron, after 3-4 years the joints between individual sections will become unusable.

More modern plastic 50 mm sewer drains can be hidden in niches cut along the junction of the wall and floor slab. Of course, the niche is not cut to the full diameter of the sewer, but to half or two-thirds. The rest of the sewer line can be closed with invoices plastic plinth or box. This way to hide the sewer allows you to reduce the height of the bathtub drain, but you can only do this kind of work experienced builders, since you have to cut part of the floor slab in the bathroom.

When a bathroom renovation is underway, there is a chance to hide unsightly-looking communications, making the interior more attractive. However, when going to hide the pipes, it is important to leave the opportunity to check them and repair them. And there are several ways to solve this problem.

Why hide the pipes

The bathroom is an important part of a house or apartment, which is always sought to give a cozy and beautiful view. But even the most high-quality and fashionable repairs will not bring joy if pipes and other communications remain in sight. In addition, water drops often collect on unmasked pipes due to the high humidity in the room. The result will be darkening of the pipes over time.

Competent masking of pipes is required during repairs, it will make the room neat, and its design stylish and modern.

What pipes are installed in the bathroom

Depending on their purpose, pipes in the bathroom can be classified as plumbing system, heating, and sewerage. The layout of the water pipes is located more conveniently for installation and replacement, but when working with sewer pipes, you should always remember about the slope provided for in them towards the riser. If the bathroom has heating radiator, then the issues of masking pipes will also affect those related to the heating system.

In addition to the purpose of the pipes in the bathroom, they differ in their material. Now it is rare to find metal pipes, since modern plastic pipes have a large number benefits. They are convenient to install, no need to paint, easy to replace. These pipes are lightweight and corrosion resistant.

Often, quite strong and thick polypropylene pipes are used for pipes in the bathroom. PVC products are distinguished by less thick walls, although they are attractive at a price. However, they do worse high temperature and water pressure. If you chose them for installation in the bathroom, be prepared for a short period of use and do not hide them airtight.

In addition to pipes made of polymers, metal-plastic and steel pipes are often installed in bathrooms. welded pipes, but these are more expensive options.

What can and cannot be hidden

If you plan to tightly close the masking of pipes, you need to understand that not all communications should be hidden in this way. First of all, it is not suitable for masking fittings - connections in the form of the letters X, T or G. They are points where the risk of leaks is increased. Also, do not tightly close the places where there are meters, cleaning filters and other connections.

Can be wall-mounted steel pipes co welded joints, as well as soldered copper pipes. It is not recommended to hide all threaded pipe connections in the walls without the ability to quickly access them.

Rules for disguise

First, when installing pipes in the bathroom, try to reduce the number of connections. Competent wiring and thoughtful arrangement of equipment will help to achieve this.

Secondly, if connections are provided, they must be of the same material as the pipes. It is important that their safety margin is identical or higher.

Thirdly, for quick access to valves, meters, taps and other elements, special hatches should be left.

Fourth, to prevent condensation on the pipes, use insulating materials. In the case of hiding pipes in the wall, the presence of insulation will allow the pipes to expand (this is especially important for pipes through which hot water flows).

Disguise methods

To hide communications in the bathroom, different methods are used. Horizontally arranged pipes with additional work hide in the walls, performing strobing, and then finishing the surface with tiles or plaster. Also, pipes are often hidden in a box, the construction of which is made of drywall or plywood, choosing a moisture-resistant material. Such a box can be finished with tiles or other material.

To hide pipes, structures can also be created that are outwardly similar to furniture cabinets. Pipes in such cabinets take up only part of the space, and the remaining area of the shelves is used to store household items. Also a popular option is to install roller shutters in the bathroom. By choosing a cute decor, they will even decorate the room. And there is always an option for creative people– paint pipes, cover with mosaics, apply artificial plants, stucco or other ideas.

Hiding in the wall

It is recommended to hide only pipes made of copper or polypropylene in the walls - firmly welded or soldered, without threaded connections. In this way, horizontal pipes can be aesthetically hidden. They are preliminarily placed in a corrugation, then, after strobing, they are laid in a wall and processed on top of concrete or cement screed. On a dried screed, you can lay a laminate, tile and other coatings.

It is important that the screed is completely dry before using the pipes. If you turn on hot water when the screed is wet, the coating will crack. The method is quite costly both in terms of strength and time (requires a long preparation). It is often chosen for new apartments (when repairing from scratch) or in case of redevelopment. To implement it, you need to use a grinder, a chisel, a hammer and other tools.

Before you start gating, it is important to draw up on paper a wiring diagram that will be the most optimal for your bathroom. When drawing up such a scheme, take into account the route and diameter of the pipes, as well as the features of the walls (whether they are suitable for gating, what thickness, whether reinforcement is needed, what will be the thickness of the screed). In the right places (adapters, taps, meters, threads), viewing windows are arranged.

Remember that horizontal chasing is not performed in panel walls. Also, such manipulation is not carried out with a wall width of half a brick.

Drywall box

For this method, a moisture-resistant version of drywall is used. The popularity of this method of disguise is ensured by its simplicity and manufacturability, as well as financial affordability.

Drywall helps to hide not only pipes, but also the entire sewer, but a significant disadvantage is the reduction usable area, which is an acute problem for small bathrooms.

Often drywall box installed in new buildings, where the bathrooms are more spacious than similar rooms in "sockets" or "Khrushchev".

The basis of the box is a metal profile or frame made of wooden bars. It is sheathed with drywall, which is then finished to taste.

To access certain parts of the wiring, holes are made in drywall, on which inspection hatch doors are installed.

Masking furniture and screen

practical option hide the pipes in the bathroom - create a furniture design. With it, the interior can look richer and more attractive. Usually this design is a cabinet with shelves.

For vertically arranged pipes, a ready-made cabinet-pencil case is suitable, in which they take back wall, and in the shelves cut out a place for pipes. However, it is not easy to find furniture that can be in contact with wet pipes for a long time and not deteriorate. And the treatment of all surfaces of the purchased cabinet with a moisture protection agent will spend your money and time.

Therefore, more often in the case of masking communications with furniture, the design is created independently or on order.

The material for the manufacture of furniture in the bathroom is often chosen laminated chipboard moisture resistant. The doors in such a cabinet are chosen depending on the placement of plumbing - sliding or hinged. Having installed the structure, all the cracks are treated with silicone for greater tightness.

Another way to disguise, which can be called easy and practical, is to use a special screen. This is a frame in which plasterboard or plastic panels are fixed on 2 rails. This screen is inexpensive and looks nice. It is easily removed, simplifying repairs, but it has the same minus as a drywall box - a decrease in the area of the room.

Bath podium

This is interesting solution to mask communications, which does not take up usable space. Since most pipes run closer to the floor, it is enough to make a small step to hide the plumbing. For such a podium, chipboard is used with treatment with water-repellent materials.

roller shutters

Their main advantage is the possibility of easy full access to pipes, filters, meters and the rest. Roller shutters for toilets and bathrooms are available in different material. They are the best option if the pipes run in a niche. It is worth installing them repair work, then you will avoid extra costs.

Advantages and disadvantages

In the case of masking in the wall, the minus will be possible restrictions on the work, since horizontal gating in a panel building and work with thin walls prohibited. Also, if unsuitable and low-quality pipes are hidden in the wall, there is a risk of a breakthrough and flooding of neighbors. Even if you make viewing windows, access to communications will still be limited.

The advantage of hiding the pipes in the walls is the aesthetics of the bathroom. You can finish the hidden pipes on top as you wish, for example, tile them. In addition, this way you do not reduce the working space.

The drywall box option also restricts access for repairing or checking communications. To replace the pipes, the box will have to be completely dismantled, and reinstalled after repair. In addition, the installation of the box will take valuable centimeters of space in the bathroom.

By choosing roller shutters, on the contrary, you will get maximum access. It is practical and very mobile version. But, since enough is used to make them soft materials, roller shutters are easily damaged (bent or broken) if leaned against or hit.

The downside when masking pipes with furniture is contact with moisture. Even waterproof material deteriorates over time, and in order to prolong the life of furniture in the bathroom, it should be wiped dry frequently. Places treated with silicone in such furniture should always be checked (so that the silicone layer is not broken). Scratches should also be avoided. The advantages of using furniture as a way to hide pipes are the attractive appearance of the room, as well as practicality, because various accessories can be stored in the closet.

Many owners modern apartments the question often arises of how to hide the pipes in the bathroom with your own hands. After all, furniture and furniture create comfort in this room. plumbing equipment. There can be no question of beauty if at the same time beautiful tile is visible and plain rusty pipes against its background. How to hide pipes in the bathroom under the tiles? Let's consider several options for solving this issue.

How to hide pipes

In a renovated apartment, hiding the pipes in the bathroom and not littering it is impossible. How to hide pipes in the bathroom? It is better to do this work at the stage of repair. You can hide them in the wall. How to remove pipes in the wall? It will not be possible to do this with products with a diameter of 110 mm. Cutouts up to a depth of 50 mm can be made in the wall. But not everything can be hidden there. Piping systems are:

  • welded;
  • fitting.

Welded ones are suitable for hiding in the wall. And the fittings may begin to ooze over time. In this case, the walls will get wet. Fungus and others will start in the strobes (grooves in the wall) harmful microorganisms. Strobes must be closed cement mortar. You can remove the pipes into the wall and fix them with special fasteners. Grooves for them are made with a puncher and a circular saw.

How to close the pipes in the bathroom in another way? You can do this with a drywall or plastic box. This method can become great solution in cases where you need to hide risers or sunbeds with a large diameter. Even a large number of thin pipes can be hidden in a box. It is made of drywall or plastic.

The plastic box is easy to assemble and disassemble. It is suitable for sheathing old pipelines, the strength and quality of which are in doubt. Drywall is recommended to cover new pipes. This is due to the fact that tiles are usually glued onto drywall. To make a box you need:

  • UD profile - 4 pcs.;
  • profile CD - 1-2 pcs.;
  • drywall or plastic panels;
  • dowels and screws;
  • drill;
  • a hammer;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • building level.

Guides are attached to the walls. Their position is regulated by the level. The finished frame is sheathed with plastic panels or drywall sheets. Installation of a plastic box is best done after the completion of the rest of the finishing work. A drywall box is made before they are carried out. The framework for them is the same. In drywall, you need to think over and build an inspection hatch for quick access to pipelines. Then the hidden and disguised pipeline can always be inspected and the casing not damaged.

Other ways to disguise

How else to hide pipes in bathrooms:

When developing any method, you need to consider the placement of all pipes, appliances, joints and turns. It is advisable to mark all this on the wall and on the floor. This will make it possible to spend less time on practical work, because some of the products will fall on the floor. You don't need to cut walls underneath.

Under the fill can be placed heating circuit, water pipes. If the pipes in the bathroom will be hidden in a box, you need to additionally insulate them with a layer of foam, mineral wool and then cover with drywall or plastic panels. Drywall is better to use moisture resistant.

More ways to hide the pipe in the bathroom:

  • A good way is to close the pipes in the bathroom with cabinet furniture that you can make yourself. Shelves are closed with doors. There is also storage for household chemicals.
  • It can be masked with foam stucco, colored mosaics, artificial flowers and vines, just paint with paint that matches the interior. Use and roller shutters (metal shutters roll type). They provide full access to the hidden and allow you to equip shelves for household chemicals. Installation is not difficult, any color is selected.

Disguise methods

You can mask the pipes in the bathroom:

  • stucco;
  • mosaic;
  • roller shutters;
  • metal gratings;
  • false walls.

Stucco is a material for which you do not need to have special skills. It is very practical in design, easy to remove and stick, easy to process.

Mosaic is an exclusive solution. You can simply paste over the product to match the color of the furnishings or tiles. But you can use the mosaic on rather large things and on pipes. large diameter.

Roller shutters or plumbing shutters are another option to hide pipes. At the same time, they are a decorative element. Roller shutters are very practical in operation, they allow easy access to any hidden section of the pipeline. They can be equipped with a drive - manual or mechanical. Roller blinds are durable and comfortable. Their disadvantages include their high cost.

Metal gratings are mounted on installed frame. They bring variety to the design of the room. False walls are able to hide several plastic or steel products at the same time. But they take up part of the usable area of the bathroom. They are made of drywall and hide everything that is there.

Conclusion

We have already figured out how to hide your plumbing and other pipes in the bathroom. It can be done different ways. The main thing is to leave an inspection channel for checking and repairing threaded connections, meters, valves and fittings. Valves must always be accessible.

It is desirable to wrap all products with a layer waterproofing material. This is done so that they do not sweat. It is best to use polypropylene products for hidden communications. They will go under the filling of the floor. All connections are best boiled well. Before laying on the floor, the products should be placed in a corrugated hose. From above, everything laid is covered with a layer of cement or concrete pouring. The layer thickness is at least 2-3 cm above the pipes. Tiles, linoleum, laminated panels are laid on the screed.

Pipes in the bathroom can be located in a niche or in a wall. For laying strobes, they usually use a grinder with diamond disc and a perforator or chisel. Polypropylene or steel products hide in the grooves, and the strobes are smeared with cement. The most common way is hiding in a drywall or plastic box. These systems should without fail have viewing hatches.

Video instruction

The bathroom is most often tiled, because ceramics respond well to moisture and water ingress. Ceramics will please with durability, resistance to mechanical influences as well as beautiful appearance.

But a beautiful visual effect can be spoiled by sewer risers and plumbing communications. How to hide the riser in the bathroom? An article will be devoted to this issue.

What are the possibilities to hide the pipes?

  1. pipes are hidden in the wall;
  2. false walls;
  3. roller shutters;
  4. drywall box or lining for pipes.

Now let's talk about each method of how to close the pipes in more detail.

Proper concealment of the riser and communications: what does it include. Before closing communications, you need to consider a few points:

Conclusion: there must be access to siphons, meters, taps, underfloor heating systems.

Hiding the pipe, installing various boxes and niches should not take up much space and take up useful space. In addition, the finish should look holistic and beautiful.

Hiding pipes in the wall

Such an option as hiding sewer pipes is possible only at the stage of large-scale construction, when there is no ceramic cladding and before finishing work still far.

Old metal pipes, which are already rotten, are covered with a layer of reusable paint, and the joints are no longer untwisted, they need to be replaced.

Polypropylene pipes have become a popular option, the soldering of which eliminates any threads and unreliable connections. So they can be safely hidden in the wall.

You must remember where the pipes are located under the tiles. In the future, you may need to make a hole in the ceramic to hang a shelf, hook, etc.

How are polypropylene pipes soldered?

For soldering, a soldering iron for polypropylene pipes is used. The principle of operation is to heat pipes and fittings using soldering nozzles.

The soldering iron should heat up for 10-15 minutes, then get to work. Insert pipes and fittings into nozzles different diameter for soldering. Wait for the pipes to heat up, and then connect the two parts of the structure.

It is not necessary to heat up again if it did not work out the first time, because in this case the joint will not be reliable. Sealing joints is a key condition when soldering.

On sale there are fittings of various configurations designed for different purposes. There are 45 degree angles, tees, couplings and plugs.

We mount false walls

How to close pipes with a fake wall? False walls are bulky structures designed to hide not only risers and communications, but defects in the main wall.

In what cases should a false wall or partition be used:

  • If space permits. In small baths, a false wall will take up a lot of usable space, its use is irrational.
  • If you need to hide the irregularities of the base. When the surface needs serious leveling, it is easier to mount a false wall and avoid the need to spend time and money on plastering or puttying the base.

False walls are easy to install, they ideally hide risers and communications, and it is possible to install inspection hatches of various configurations.

Roller shutters

Roller shutters will become beautiful cladding niches where riser pipes, counters, etc. are located.

The roller blind option has undoubted advantages:

  • Beautiful appearance: you can choose the color of the cladding that suits you.
  • Mobility: in the open state, you have access to the entire niche. This allows you to eliminate problems with pipes without inconvenience.
  • Simple installation and dismantling of roller shutters. They are easy to care for and do not require special attention.

They can only be used to hide niches rectangular shape which reduces their scope. But better way how to hide the riser and have access to it - just not.

What is a pipe box

A pipe box is a crate made of profiles, which is lined with plasterboard or clapboard on top. It is tiled, like all walls, so that a complete picture is achieved.

The box should be compact, convenient and attractive. The advantage of the option is that you can succinctly bypass the pipes, make a box complex configuration and at the same time do not take away a lot of usable space from the room.

What materials are needed?

The crate can be made of metal profiles or wooden bars. Metal profiles are easy to cut, they are not subject to corrosion and are great for a bathtub where there is moisture and the risk of mold.

Wooden blocks are cheaper than metal profiles but they are susceptible to decay. To avoid this, you can cover the bars and slats with an antiseptic. It is better to choose a metal profile, it is more durable and practical.

Only moisture resistant materials are used as frame cladding:

  • drywall;
  • lining;
  • plywood treated with an antiseptic.

The lining has a beautiful appearance, it does not require additional cladding. The color and texture of the lining can be matched to the color of the rest of the lining. It is worth choosing a moisture-resistant drywall for arranging the box in the bathroom.

He demands finishing tiles. The frame must be rigid and strong to withstand the stress of drywall and tiles.

How to make a box with your own hands?

Do not believe sensational claims about how to close pipes easily, quickly and in 30 minutes. Never counted preparatory work which take a lot of time.

  • A drawing is created on which you need to indicate the location of pipes, meters, taps.
  • The drawing should show the result of lining and hiding pipes, it determines how much material is needed.
  • Purchased necessary materials: metal profiles, fasteners, metal screws, moisture-resistant drywall.
    Making a false wall for the bathroom - video
  • The frame should not go right next to the pipes. The location of the profiles end-to-end will complicate the installation and possible dismantling boxes. To do this, you need to find the most protruding elements of the pipes and consider them as a point that defines the boundary of the box.
  • Lines are drawn along these marks.
  • Profile guides are attached to the ceiling and floor, between which there are risers. It is necessary to cut the profile into fragments of the required length. You can cut the profile with a grinder or scissors for metal.
  • They are attached to the base of the profile with dowels, and between themselves the frame elements are fastened with fleas or press washers.
  • The box is sewn up with moisture-resistant drywall, the drywall is fastened with metal screws.
  • If a viewing window or revision is needed in the box, its location is indicated even before the frame is sheathed. Cut a hole for the revision, and then sheathe the frame with drywall.
  • Line the drywall box with tiles.

The configuration and dimensions of the boxes are always different, but the installation principle is the same in all cases.

Outcome
We have reviewed different variants how to hide a riser. You can use drywall boxes, false walls or roller shutters. Each of the methods has its advantages and disadvantages, so the choice is individual and depends on your requests and wishes.

If you dream of turning your bathroom into cozy place rest and fulfillment hygiene procedures, then you, first of all, need to mask all the pipes available there. The latter can both reduce the noise level from the buzzing of pipes, and extend the period of their operation, protecting them from moisture and deformation.

Plastic disguise

For bathtubs, plastic coating is best suited. Firstly, it is not subject to deformation as a result of temperature changes and high humidity, easy to wash off various pollution looks stylish and festive.

Of great importance when masking pipes is the possibility of fastening plastic panels to walls and pipes. And also very pleased with the chic assortment of plastic - imitations for wood, stucco, metal, etc., which can be safely used for a bathroom of all kinds of styles. It is not for nothing that plastic confidently takes the palm when answering the burning question: how to seal the pipes in the bathroom?

Preparation for masking pipes with plastic starts with the purchase of a tape measure, a pencil, a hacksaw with a millimeter blade, nails, self-tapping screws or a stapler, a hammer, silicone glue, plastic, bars for the frame. The latter can be made from various materials(wood, metal, etc.).

The sequence of masking pipes in the bathroom:

  1. Fix the bars on the wall strictly perpendicular to the panels, according to the level.
  2. Cut off with a hacksaw plastic elements for frame sheathing, strictly observing the decorative ornament.
  3. Attach the panel to the frame with nails, screws or stapler staples.
  4. Lubricate the connection points for strength silicone sealant that protects the joints from moisture access there.
  5. Attach plastic panels.

Vertical pipe masking

The locker is perfect solution when masking pipes located vertically directly on the wall or in the niche of the bathroom.

Installation sequence:

  1. Choose a cabinet according to the size.
  2. Mount the frame or hinges to the wall.
  3. Drill holes for pipes at the top and bottom of the cabinet.
  4. Permanently install the product on a frame or hang it on hinges.

Tiles for collapsible construction

Water pipes can be covered with tile tiles. Its shape, dimensions and color must be identical to the wall cladding. And in case of emergency repairs or leaks in the water supply, the disguise could be easily disassembled. Therefore, these designs were not invented in vain and are an urgent need in force majeure circumstances.

In order to seal pipes in the bathroom in this way, it is necessary to prepare tools, materials in the form of:

  • drills with pen drills;
  • tile cutter or hacksaw;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • metal profiles;
  • tiles;
  • plastic corners.

The sequence of actions when masking pipes with tiles:

  1. Install the frame from the profiles.
  2. Cut the tile according to the dimensions of the frame.
  3. Drill holes at the connection points with the frame.
  4. Fasten with screws tile and supplement with plastic corners.

Wooden box and plumbing disguise

To implement this method, specific tools and materials will be needed in the form of:

  • hammer and nails;
  • hacksaws and drills;
  • tape measure and pencil;
  • boards (thickness from 10 to 20 mm);
  • tiles and tile adhesive;
  • cork from wood.

How to seal and sew up water pipes with wood

To do this, prepare three boards, calculate the distance from outer side pipe product to the wall and add 2 cm to the resulting value. This will be the width of the box. Saw off a board of this size, which we will call No. 1. The size of board No. 2 in length should correspond to the height of the room.

The size of board #3 can be obtained by attaching #2 to the pipe and calculating the length to the wall, taking into account the overlap of #2 on #3 to securely fasten both boards with nails. After that, you can make board number 3.

The following procedure for sewing pipes in the bathroom:

  1. Nailing at 4 points of boards No. 2 and 3.
  2. Drilling (if necessary) a hole in #2 for the hose.
  3. Necessary condition when masking pipes - drilling three or four holes in the wall with a diameter of 40 mm, spaced at the same distance from each other (read also: ""). It is better to make holes a little obliquely, and also do not forget about a centimeter of indentation from the corner of the room. Drive wooden plugs into the prepared holes.
  4. Drawing lines on the wall from the center of the plugs so that you can later nail them without any problems.
  5. When installing the box over the toilet, it is important to shut off the water in the system, unscrew the hose, attach the cabinet to the wall surface and make the hose into the already prepared hole, and then screw it on.
  6. Nailing a cabinet with nails falling into corks made of wood.
  7. It is allowed to stick tiles or mosaics on the box.

Pipe coloring

The final step in masking the water supply is painting the pipes. It must be done so that no traces of rust are visible, and the result exceeds all expectations even with high level humidity.

For the procedure you need to buy:

  • primer with anti-corrosion properties;
  • oil paint (water-based);
  • flat brush;
  • gloves;
  • rags;
  • emery;
  • putty knife;
  • construction dryer.

The sequence of actions for painting pipes:

  1. Thoroughly clean the surface of the pipes from the remnants of the previous paint. For this purpose, treat the surface building hair dryer or spatula, and then sand it sandpaper, remove dust after construction work.
  2. Turn off the water supply.
  3. Coat the tubular product with an anti-corrosion primer to prevent metal deformation in a humid room.
  4. Paint carefully so as not to stain the floor.
  5. First, cover with paint places with difficult access and the back sides of the pipes without gaps and smudges, vertical ones - process from top to bottom. Choose the color according to the color of the walls.
  6. As soon as the first coat of paint dries, apply a second one so that the painting is uniform and thorough.

Take advantage of our tips:

  1. If you need to paint pipes with hot water, then it is better to purchase radiator enamel.
  2. For water supply and discharge pipes the best option there will be a coating with anti-corrosion enamel, combining the qualities of an anti-corrosion primer, enamel of increased wear resistance and a rust converter.

After completing all these steps, you will finally cope with the task of masking pipes at the place where hygiene procedures are taken.
