Photos of the corridor renovation. Repair of the hallway in the apartment: photo, small corridors The main directions for the design of repairs in the corridor

Unfortunately, a huge number of our fellow citizens still live in apartments that do not have a large area, especially in the hallways. As a rule, they are either tiny square or represent a narrow small corridor. For this reason, it is simply impossible to place the necessary furniture in such a small space and you have to contrive and fantasize. But this does not mean that the interior of a small hallway in an apartment cannot be made cozy, original and original!

In the struggle for every precious centimeter, you need to take into account some of the subtleties and secrets of design. Firstly, the arrangement of a small space always requires minimalism and in this situation it is better to refuse various decorative details, it is also recommended to do without open hangers. The best option for a small hallway would be a closet. Such a cabinet can be installed even without a back wall. Using this option, the cabinet will fit very tightly against the wall, and its design will be close to the built-in cabinet. Well, it’s better not to experiment, and order a built-in wardrobe according to your size, which will fit perfectly into the space and save precious space.

You should not refuse mezzanines, which can help out the owners of small apartments, because they are very roomy and you can place a huge number of things in them. There is an opinion that mezzanines are not suitable for a small hallway, not fitting into its design, but in life it all depends on the specific version of the object. In one interior, they will really look bulky, as if crushing and hanging over your head, and in another, they will fit perfectly and become indispensable for the people around you.

To visually expand the room, you can use mirrors. Firstly, the wardrobe doors can be made in a mirror version, or you can hang a small hanging mirror, under which you can put a chest of drawers or a shoe cabinet. But if there are small children in the family, then it is better to refuse mirrored doors and mirrors, taking care of safety. As for the interior door that opens into the hallway, it is better if it is with glass inserts, in which case the hallway will become brighter. You can also use the option with accordion sliding doors, or completely abandon the doors by arranging a decorative arch in the opening.

To small room visually seemed larger, it should be done in light colors, but bright accents should be treated with caution, of course they can be used, only the main thing is that they blend well and harmonize with each other.

Lighting is also important, because there are no windows in the hallways, as a result of which there is no natural light. If the hallway is a long corridor, then the best solution in this case, there will be non-standard wall sconces or lamps built into the ceiling, which are best placed in a row at a certain distance from each other.

When equipping a small hallway, experts recommend not using PVC and MDF wall panels, as well as decorative plaster, as these dressing materials take away precious centimeters. It is better to use high-quality, non-woven or vinyl wallpapers, because they do an excellent job of decorating the interior, without using additional space.

Floors also need to be decorated in light colors. Speaking about any floor covering, it should be noted - when it is laid in the corridor and, as it were, enters the room in a semicircle, it visually increases the space of the hallway by an order of magnitude.

New houses are under construction right now. convenient layout apartments. But most of the old ones do not go anywhere, and the Soviet-style apartment is distinguished by the presence of a narrow corridor that needs to be arranged in such a way that there is as much space as possible for free movement and that all the furniture is located as functionally as possible. And of course, do not forget about modern design. It is quite possible to make a small corridor practical and stylish.

Peculiarities

As a rule, the hallway of a standard Khrushchev is a narrow, sometimes excessively long corridor. And in the design of its design you need to provide for every little thing. It is best to make a drawing before repair, which will show the arrangement of furniture, the placement of lamps, the necessary sockets, the possible division into zones, and decoration elements. Each detail located in a small corridor should work for its visual increase, as well as perform a specific function. Useless things in a small room should not be.

When placing furniture, it should be borne in mind that the minimum width of the passage should be about 80 cm. You cannot leave less. Also, the repair of this room should be approached taking into account the presence of pets in the house. If the pets of the owners are a cat or a cat, it is recommended to abandon the wallpaper on the walls, otherwise they will soon be mercilessly peeled off. It is worth choosing a material that is more resistant to external damage.

Let's also not forget about the harm that small, but already able to draw, children can do to the walls. Anticipate that you may need to clean these surfaces frequently.

How to visually expand the space?

The problem of small space in the corridor can be solved in several ways. The main thing is to take into account the layout, rationally arrange the furniture, choose good lighting, successfully combine the colors of the floor, walls and ceiling, correctly place the elements that will decorate the room. The main disadvantage of a narrow hallway needs to be beaten so that every guest entering it can envy and take him for dignity.

At first glance, it seems that a room 80-90 cm wide and about three meters long is difficult to visually enlarge and arrange in such a way that there is enough room for movement. Do not despair, there is practically nothing impossible in our time. Create a project for your hallway, based on the following recommendations:

  • Zoning. The corridor can be divided into two functional areas: the entrance and the entrance hall itself, the vestibule. They are distinguished by different materials, colors, suitable furniture. For example, in the entrance area you can leave hangers for outerwear, a shoe rack and a pouffe, and in the lobby you can place a chest of drawers, a cabinet, a mirror, shelves for decor elements, wall decorations. At the entrance, lay floor tiles in dark colors, and cover the rest with, for example, laminate, parquet or tiles of a different color. You can also use a mat to separate.

  • Bright hues. You should not get carried away with white, but the use of such shades as pale pink, beige, light blue, turquoise will make the hallway visually wider.
  • Contrast. If the walls and ceiling are made in delicate pastel colors, then the floor, doors, furniture can stand out in contrast with them. Conversely, if you decide to stick dark wallpaper, you should choose light furniture, as well as doors.
  • Reflection. It always plays visual extension space. Place several mirrors in the hallway, make the wardrobe doors mirrored, place mirror inserts in the doors, use glossy surfaces of furniture, floor, ceiling. You can choose one of the above or combine several options.

  • A diagonal floor pattern will bring the room closer to the shape of a square.
  • Good lighting. It's not worth saving. The distribution of light must be well thought out before starting repairs. It is recommended to use small spotlights. They can be mounted in the ceiling, wall or floor.

ceilings

Ceiling finish depends on its height. Not all materials are suitable for low ceilings, so you need to be careful here:

  • If the ceiling is low, it is best to use a stretch option. Glossy finish the top surface will help increase the space. Although you can consider matte material.
  • If the height allows, the choice may fall on suspended structures, behind which it is good to hide electrical wiring, irregularities in the ceiling base. It is possible to embed lamps in such a ceiling. It is also worth noting its heat and noise insulation functions.
  • Layered structures from drywall are suitable for a hallway with a high ceiling. The number of levels depends on your preferences and financial capabilities. The most luxurious options are three-level configurations, columns and arches. The most common and popular variety is a two-level ceiling. Levels can be selected as desired different colors, build in a lot of lamps, neon lights.

If the corridor is quite long, the ceiling can be divided into fragments, just like the floor, highlighting them in different shades or placing a beam at the top to match the doors and baseboards, separating the zones.

It is better to choose a color lighter than the color scheme of the walls, a common option is white. A good choice - spotlights built into the ceiling located along the entire length of the hallway. For convenience, you can make two switches for two functional areas or install a motion sensor at the entrance.

Furniture

Placing pieces of furniture in a narrow hallway is an extremely responsible matter, and you need to approach it with all seriousness. It depends on how comfortable it will be for you to dress, put on shoes, put yourself in order, move around, etc.

In a private house, for example, it is not uncommon to have a small vestibule where you can take off your shoes, undress and only then go into the hallway, furnished with furniture. In the apartment, these zones are combined into one, and to achieve convenience in it is a lot of work.

It is best to stick to the concept of minimalism. You need to place only the most necessary, taking into account the practicality and functionality of each detail.

If the area allows, it is appropriate to put a closet. A common option is a combined cabinet design that combines a wardrobe for outerwear, mezzanines, shelves for shoes, shelves for accessories, all kinds of drawers, often a bench. Do not forget about the possibility of placing mirrors on the cabinet doors. A good solution would be to install in the design room interior lighting. This is both a good design move and an additional light source.

If there is very little space, give up the closet and get a hanger. A few hooks on the wall will suffice. A shoe rack is also among the essentials in the corridor. It can be placed under a hanger. To save space, it is appropriate to combine a cabinet for shoes with a bench.

Wall placement hanging shelves- a good solution for the interior. They may be needed for some small things, jewelry, souvenirs, cosmetics, keys and other things. For the same purpose, you can put a small table. Among other things, a landline telephone will perfectly fit on it.

To expand the space, use glossy furniture or objects with mirrored inserts.

Reflection of surfaces from each other will play into your hands. It is acceptable that the furniture contrasts with the rest of the room. Try to keep nothing at the front door, especially if it opens into the apartment. Remember also that the depth of the cabinet, chest of drawers or cabinets should not exceed 40 cm.

Lighting

If in a private house in the hallway can enter sunlight, then in the apartment it is impossible. Due to the absence of windows, the corridor is deprived of natural light. Therefore, it is necessary to provide it well with artificial lighting.

Not only lamps can help with this. If you remove some of the interior doors, for example, leading to the living room or kitchen, then light will flow into the hallway in some way. As for the fixtures, their location, number and style depends on overall design interior.

Depending on the style, small pendant chandeliers, recessed spotlights or LED strip can be placed on the ceiling. In any case, it is advisable to refuse one large chandelier and opt for several small light sources.

Luminaires can be placed around the perimeter or in the middle of the ceiling.

The use of hanging chandeliers is possible only if the ceilings in the room are high. It is permissible to hang stylish sconces on the walls. They will look especially advantageous next to reflective surfaces or opposite them. But consider the width of the corridor - wall lamps should not interfere with movement. It is recommended to place them at a height two meters from the floor. It is best to use diffused light sources. For this, matte ceiling lamps directed upwards are suitable.

Individual decorative elements can also be illuminated. For example, small spotlights can be placed in paintings or photographs. Illumination can be equipped with ledges and niches in the corridor. Along the entire length of the junction of the wall and floor, the LED strip will be stretched in an original way. It is worth paying attention to the color of the highlights. The best is yellow. It does not irritate with excessive brightness and does not put pressure on the psyche.

Colors

Beautiful interior design of a narrow corridor will help create the right colors. The classic version is from light tones to dark ones from top to bottom. The ceiling, for example, is white, the walls are made in beige, cream tones, and the color of the floor is close to natural, as an option - natural wood.

  • The walls should be slightly darker than the ceiling. The most suitable shades are light gray, pale yellow, pale pink, blue, mint, peach, light green.
  • The floor should be darker than the walls. Options for drawings or patterns on the floor are possible. A common option is a floor that resembles a chessboard. Possible colors: brown, dark brown, dark gray, black, black and white combination, dark blue.
  • Interesting color scheme- dividing the wall into two parts horizontally using a molding. The top is usually lighter than the bottom. This choice will help get rid of the tunnel effect of a long corridor. Molding is usually white or chosen to match the color

  • Drawings and patterns must match general style hallway interior. It is better not to use vertical stripes on the wallpaper, this will narrow the room. It would be best to opt for wallpaper with a small pattern and with vinyl chips, which will help hide the uneven walls.
  • Don't be afraid to mix colors. Wide walls can be decorated with warm shades, and narrow ones with cold ones.
  • Furniture and doors should not merge with surfaces. It is better if they contrast with the walls.

Decor

in Khrushchev panel house tailoring repairs to the wishes and preferences of the owners is often not easy. There are a number of features that should be considered when decorating any room in such an apartment:

  • When repairing, it is necessary to eliminate the lack of heat and sound insulation, which is inherent in panel houses. In the corridor, this can be done with the help of a false ceiling and a high-quality expensive front door.
  • When finishing the walls, you will have to eliminate their irregularities. About which wallpapers are best suited for this, mentioned above.

  • Redevelopment is often impossible, since most structures are load-bearing.
  • Due to the presence of reinforced concrete panels in the walls metal frame wall decor problems can arise if you decide to decorate them with hanging structures, paintings or photographs. Therefore, during the repair, you need to start, first of all, from the capabilities and properties of the house.

Despite the rather small area of \u200b\u200bthe room, there are many design options for a narrow corridor. It all depends on your imagination.

If the corridor is long, then it may have interior doors or openings without them. For example, in a three-room apartment, most likely all rooms will leave the hallway, which means that in the corridor we will see at least three doors, plus an entrance to the kitchen. As already mentioned, the absence of doors to the living room or kitchen can visually expand the space. In this case, an opening without a door will require a separate design.

Finishing the passages should be done with the same scrupulousness and accuracy as the decoration of any other details. In place of the door, you can create an arch that fits in its shape and size to the entire interior. For cladding, you can use drywall, artificial stone, plastic, fiberboard panels, depending on the style of the room. Platbands should be combined in color with skirting boards.

An interesting solution today is the self-leveling floor. It will hide irregularities and perform the function of a decorative element.

Furnishing the hallway with furniture is not only practical, but also stylish. For a cramped corridor, modular designs are well suited, which will also modernize it. A tribute to modernity can also be paid using lighting in the closet, on cabinets, shelves, niches, mirror frame.

The small width of the corridor can be played with paintings or family photographs, turning the room into a cozy gallery. Where, if not in narrow room decorate the walls with similar elements. They, in turn, can also be provided with additional lighting. Decorate the walls with stone. This gives originality and sets the tone for the entire home. It is also possible to use frescoes.

If there are enough shelves, place on them various accessories, awards, books, art objects, decorative candles, indoor flowers to your taste.

The entrance hall and the corridor can be called the “face of the apartment”, since it is they who form the first impression of the homeowners, of their tastes and well-being. Therefore, the design of these premises should be thought out carefully, to the smallest detail.

Finishing the corridor in the apartment is usually done last, since dirt and construction debris during the repair of other premises will remain all the way from the front door to the rooms where the work is being done. In addition, when entering building materials or large pieces of furniture, they can easily damage the finishes on the walls and floors of the hallway. That is why the facing of these surfaces is performed last.

What should be considered when planning the finishing of the corridor?

Hallways in standard city apartments usually have a very small area without a source of natural light. Dust and dirt from the street are primarily brought into these walk-through rooms, as they are often walked in street shoes.

In addition, you should also think about the fact that during the operation of the apartment, various pieces of furniture and large household appliances will be carried through the hallway and corridor, which can damage the surface of the walls during transportation. Therefore, for finishing it is recommended to choose materials that have a certain strength.

Another important point that cannot be ignored when planning the repair of these premises is that despite their small area, finishing work can result in a decent amount if they are carried out by a construction team. Therefore, having realistically assessed your strengths and financial capabilities, you can try to produce this stage on your own, choosing an affordable method and materials that are suitable in quality and price.

In order for the work to be successful, they should be carried out according to a pre-drawn plan, which should provide for the entire sequence of actions.

Work plan

The stages of repair work for any of the rooms of the apartment practically do not differ in their sequence, but they will differ in scale, depending on what type of repair is chosen: major or cosmetic.

  • A major overhaul involves the complete dismantling of coatings of all surfaces with the replacement of electrical wiring, the arrangement of a new floor screed and a plaster leveling layer on the walls. In addition, the total scope of work may include the installation of a false ceiling.

  • Cosmetic repairs include the replacement of decorative wall and floor coverings, and sometimes the installation of a false ceiling. If they are produced ceiling work, then you may have to do additional wiring of electrical cables for lighting devices that are built into suspended ceiling.

So, the whole process of repair work is usually planned in the following sequence:

  • For any type of repair - this is the dismantling of old decorative coatings and cleaning of surfaces, the removal of all previously performed leveling layers - during the major reconstruction of the premises.

  • Carrying out the necessary calculations of the finishing area and the amount of materials required for it.
  • Determining the location of lighting fixtures and wiring. Its connection to the mains is made already at the final stage of repair. Works related to electricity are recommended to be entrusted to a professional master who has the appropriate permit.

  • Space planning, that is, determining the placement of furniture items necessary in the hallway, depending on the size and shape of the room. If it is possible to plan the premises using a special computer application, then this will be the best option, which will allow you to visually evaluate the color combination and the convenience of the proposed arrangement of all interior accessories.

  • Finishing the ceiling, the chosen method and material - for any type of repair work.
  • Alignment of the walls, and then cladding with decorative material when overhaul, or only finishing work for the cosmetic transformation of the room.
  • Leveling the floor with a screed, and then laying the floor covering, possibly with a heating system - with a complete alteration of the rooms, or just replacing the decorative flooring during cosmetic repairs.

Types of hallways

The lighting and design solution for the design of the hallway largely depends on the type of hallway and corridor. With a standard layout, these rooms can be combined and have the following forms:

  • A "box" is a square or rectangular room that provides ample room for imagination and can be decorated in any style. Such hallways are typical for houses of old construction and have an area of 4 square meters. m.

  • The hallway-corridor is a narrow elongated rectangular room, sometimes having smooth turns at different angles, in which it is quite difficult to place a lot of furniture. Therefore, you will have to choose only the most necessary for her - it can be a shelf for shoes, an ottoman, a hanger for outerwear, and of course a mirror, without which you can’t do without in the hallway.
  • Entrance hall - "boot" - this type of room also combines in its configuration two corridors located at right angles to each other. In one of them there are doors to the sanitary premises of the apartment, and it leads towards the kitchen, and in the other, in fact, there is an entrance hall with doors to the entrance and to the living quarters of the apartment. As a rule, these two corridors have a small width, but a sufficiently large length along which all the necessary furniture accessories can be installed.

What will be subject to reconstruction and decoration?

Hallway lighting and ceiling

After the walls are cleaned of old coatings, you should think about how to properly distribute lighting in dark hallway and the corridor, as intensive lighting is necessary for them. This factor is due to the fact that, as a rule, people do the final touches on putting their appearance in order when leaving the house in the hallway in front of the mirror. For this, it is necessary to provide that there is enough light in this room, and it is desirable to organize shadowless lighting.

If it is dark in a small room, then it will visually seem even cramped. To avoid this effect, it is recommended to make the ceiling light and install lamps on it that give a bright but diffused light.

If the ceiling is planned to be painted, then acrylic paint will be the best option for this. However, this option will be advantageous only if the surface has perfect evenness and smoothness, otherwise bright lighting will reveal all the existing flaws.

AT last years plasterboard suspended ceilings have become popular, having one or more tiers, forming niches in which neon or led strip or the same lamp is installed. Most often, tiers are given intricate curvilinear shapes that visually expand the space, making the room look wider. In addition, a similar version of the ceiling will help to more intensively illuminate certain areas of the room, in particular the one where the mirror will be fixed.

If the apartment does not have too high ceilings, then you can use a glossy light stretch ceiling for their design. On its surface, light from devices mounted on the walls will be reflected, increasing the overall intensity of illumination. In this case, it is desirable to direct the light from the wall sconces onto a glossy surface.

Original interior solution - two-tier ceiling

If the owner of the apartment has good skills in working with building and finishing materials, he will be able to cope with this task on his own. To help him - a detailed publication of our portal

To obtain even bright light, it is advisable to use modern economical LED lamps, which today can be found in a large assortment in specialized stores. Such lamps, with a small power consumption, create an excellent level of illumination. Many of them are specially designed for embedding in drywall construction - they look like neat dots, which is why they are called dotted. In luminaires that turn towards the ceiling, lamps are installed that are equivalent in terms of luminous efficiency of 50 ÷ 60 W. If the sconces will be installed on the walls of a narrow hallway, it is recommended to choose flat models that do not protrude too much from the wall, otherwise they will visually make the room more cramped.

If the ceiling and the upper part of the walls are made light, then this factor will increase the overall illumination and help save on electricity consumption, since the effects of reflection of the light flux from surfaces are actively “turned on”.

If the ceiling in the hallway is not too high, then you should not use low-lowered lamps or chandeliers for lighting, as they will visually make the room even lower.

If you have the financial capacity, you can install a stained-glass suspended ceiling in the corridor, illuminated from the inside. But it should be remembered that in these conditions it is not worth choosing a pattern with a dark color scheme for it, and it is better to use lamps with a cold glow to organize the backlight.

In addition to the ceiling surface, recessed fixtures are sometimes installed in walls if they are sheathed with plasterboard, which is fixed on a metal profile frame, or placed in niches.

Drywall - optimum material for leveling walls

If the area of \u200b\u200bthe room allows, then this method becomes the most convenient to implement, and all work can be done independently. More about - in a special publication of our portal.

Hallway flooring

The corridor and the entrance hall are the premises with the highest intensity of movement of the residents of the apartment. In addition, we must not forget about the dirt and dust brought on the shoes, which may contain grains of sand that can damage some coatings with their abrasive action. Therefore, for flooring in these rooms, you need to choose a material that has increased strength.

most popular floor coverings used in apartments are materials such as linoleum, ceramic tile and laminate. You can rarely find parquet or massive board. Each of the coatings has its own characteristics, which you need to know about in order to choose the best option.

Ceramic tile

The range of this material in hardware stores is quite wide, but not every type of tile is suitable for the hallway.

It is impossible to purchase tiles intended for wall cladding for laying on the floor, since there are completely different indicators of strength and wear resistance.

For laying near the front door, you should not choose a tile with an absolutely smooth glossy surface, since if you step on it in wet shoes, you can easily slip and get a serious injury. Especially this factor must be taken into account if the family has small children or people of respectable age. If you plan to lay this particular material, then the best option would be to choose a tile with a rough surface - this is usually indicated on the packaging of the material.

In addition, we must not forget that ceramics is a “cold” type of flooring and it is best to mount it on a pre-laid system. Suitable for apartment conditions electric option heating with a cable or special mats. These systems are safe to operate and consume a minimum amount of electricity.

The advantages of tiles include ease of maintenance, durability and long service life. However, this material is quite difficult to install, and if there is no relevant experience in this area, then you will have to invite the master, and this is also an extra cost.

Tiles can be combined with other floor coverings such as linoleum, laminate or even carpet. Thus, it is possible to divide the hallway into zones. One of the common options is that ceramic tiles are laid near the door, and the rest of the hallway and corridor are lined with other material. Such a decision will make these rooms less boring, especially if the design of the material is chosen with taste.

Laminate

Linoleum

Linoleum is a traditional flooring material for flooring in all rooms of the apartment, including the hallway, and it can be called time-tested for its practicality. If earlier this type of coating did not differ in variety in terms of base and colors, today its range pleases consumers, as it provides an opportunity to choose according to such criteria as the material of manufacture, the degree of wear resistance, pattern, thickness, colors and, of course, price.

If financial opportunities allow, then you can purchase a natural-based laminate.

It meets all the requirements for its operation in walk-through rooms - these criteria include environmental friendliness, moisture resistance and strength, high resistance to mechanical damage, low thermal conductivity, ease of maintenance and durability. The disadvantage of any natural material is its high price.

Artificial linoleum is made on the basis of polymer raw materials and has more diverse colors and patterns than natural, as well as quite affordable cost. The service life of this coating may be different, depending on the quality of the material, but basically its operational period is quite long, and is at least 15 years under normal temperature conditions. The disadvantages of artificial canvases include instability to solvents and sharp drops temperatures.

Decorative plaster

This type of finish is more complex in execution, but, despite this, it is becoming more and more popular, as it perfectly transforms the walls and hides small flaws on it. There are a lot of varieties of decorative plasters, but they all have high strength and abrasion resistance, good moisture resistance.

Decorative plaster - a stylish interior decoration!

It is simply impossible to tell in one section about all types of this finish. Read more than just the description different types, but also with the processes of preparing surfaces and applying finishes to the wall can be found in a separate article of the portal.

The technology of finishing the walls of the corridor "under the stone"

In combination with plastered sections of the wall, laying tiles that imitate a natural stone, and this way to decorate the walls of the hallway is of interest to more and more apartment owners. Therefore, two different technologies for finishing walls “under the stone” will be considered below. Perhaps the description of these works will inspire someone to independent creative process and help you save a lot of money.

Indeed, a properly selected stone texture and color scheme of this facing material can ennoble the interior of the premises and give it individuality. However, it should be noted that if the hallway has a very small area, then you should not stick stones on all the walls. It will be enough to cover only the area around the front door with stone, and it is desirable that the material had one of the light color shades.

Below, two available technologies for such a corridor finish will be considered step by step.

Laying tiles imitating natural stone

First of all, ready facing stone can be purchased at a hardware store. In this case, the work is carried out in the following order:

Illustration
In order for the tile to hold securely on the wall, it is necessary to make a series of preparatory work, which begin with cleaning the walls of old coatings.
It should be remembered that it is impossible to glue tiles on wallpaper, even if they are securely attached to the wall, since the canvases will not be able to hold heavier finishing material.
However, if you plan to lay on separate parts of the wall, you will have to develop a design project in advance, determining the location of the tiles. Then, having made measurements of the tiles, transfer them to the wall area to be lined, marking the edges of the future finish with a simple pencil. After that, you should carefully remove the wallpaper only from these parts of the wall. Thus, it will be possible to combine two finishing materials.
If you plan to cover the entire wall with finishing material, the wallpaper must be completely removed. In addition, old, peeling plaster is cleaned from the walls, as well as oil paint, if it has been previously applied.
The next step is to prime the cleaned surfaces with a solution that includes antiseptic substances.
The primer will help protect the walls from mold and other negative manifestations, and will also create high adhesion for the next finishing layers.
If you plan to combine masonry with a painted wall, then its surface must be well puttied. Moreover, this work must be done as efficiently as possible so that there are no stains from the spatula and so-called sinks on the surface.
It should be noted that this process requires some skill, therefore, if there is no experience in such work, then it is better to entrust the alignment of the walls to an experienced plasterer.
The puttied and dried walls are carefully polished to smoothness with a construction grater, on which an abrasive mesh is first installed, and then sandpaper with fine grain.
After grinding, the surface is again covered with a layer of primer applied with a roller with a fleecy nozzle. The water-based primer dries in about two hours.
Next, the process of painting the wall follows.
Usually for this purpose water-based or dispersion paints, in which the color of the desired color is added. They are also applied by roller.
This type of paint will not interfere with fixing on top of it stone tiles, but if you want to get even more confidence in the reliable fixation of the finishing material, then the wall should be marked and covered with its sections, on which it is planned to install tiles, with a primer.
While the paint or primer is drying, it is worthwhile to start selecting tiles.
To do this, it is unpacked and laid out along the wall, which will be lined.
Since the “wild stone” tile has dark blotches, which are located differently on different specimens, it is necessary to try to decompose the fragments in such a way that the areas painted in a darker color are evenly distributed in the masonry.
It is easier to finish if the entire wall is masonry, but if it is located in separate sections, usually these are the areas around doorways and corners, then work must begin with them, from the floor plinth.
However, before installing the first row, it would be useful to check the horizontalness of the plinth using the building level.
If it turns out that it is not ideal, then you should measure the height of the tile and beat off the line along the upper side of the future row with a masking cord. It is on it that the first row of masonry will be displayed.
At the same time, it may be necessary to make temporary linings from plastic plates or wooden slats from below under the tiles in some places.
If the plinth has not yet been installed, then it is recommended to mark out the level, install and fix the support rail or starting profile, on which the first row of tiles will be mounted.
Some tiles made of gypsum may have irregularities on their edges that form during casting - these flaws must be cleaned, otherwise they will interfere with the smooth fixing of the elements to the wall.
To do this, use a sharp knife and sandpaper with a large grain, fixed on a piece of timber, or an abrasive bar.
If there is an external corner in the corridor, which will be decorated with artificial stone, then work should begin with it, and it is best to use special corner elements for this.
Before fixing the corner tiles with glue, it is recommended that they first be carefully tried on.
Next, according to the instructions on the package, the tile adhesive is kneaded.
Moreover, if the tile is made of gypsum, then adhesive composition should also be chosen on a gypsum basis, and if the facing material is made of cement-sand mortar, then the glue is used on a cement basis.
At the same time, to simplify the work, especially when installing tiles on a wall painted in light shades, it is better to choose tile adhesive in white.
Some craftsmen prefer to fix the elements of this cladding with liquid nails, and this can be done under certain conditions. For example, if the tile is gypsum and has a small thickness and weight, and the room in which it will be installed has normal humidity.
However, in any case, professionals recommend using tile adhesive, since it is cheaper, and such a composition, if it is of high quality, will fix the tile on the wall more securely.
During installation work, the tile will definitely have to be cut.
Gypsum tiles are easy to use with an ordinary hacksaw, while for cement tiles you will have to use a grinder with a stone disk.
If it is planned to produce “torn” masonry, and the tile has smooth edges, then it will have to be broken.
To get a long protruding element, the tile is first filed, and then the extra parts are broken out by grabbing them with pliers.
To obtain an arbitrarily uneven edge, it is simply broken off with the same tool.
However, it should be noted that these manipulations can only be performed with thin gypsum tiles.
So, masonry starts from a corner or doorway.
The glue is applied to the surface of the wall and the tile itself in a thin layer, since when they are bonded, it should only slightly protrude along the edges.
Moreover, this excess must be immediately removed with a spatula.
The tile is applied to the wall and pressed well, glue is removed from its edges, and then it is tapped to the wall with a rubber mallet.
The installation of the second and all subsequent rows is carried out according to the principle of brickwork, that is, the vertical seams must be displaced by at least ⅓ of the length of the tile.
Each of the stacked rows is verified according to building level, since the tile can go skewed by just a few millimeters, which will gradually grow into centimeters, and the work will eventually be ruined.
Another nuance that often causes inconvenience if ordinary tiles are used to decorate the corner, and not corner elements, is the mismatch of their edges, since it is often quite difficult to find perfectly right corners in apartments.
Therefore, before applying the adhesive mass to the surface, it is necessary to try on two tiles to the corner, and if they do not match, mark and then cut off the protruding excess part.
Since this version of the finishing material has a certain volume, the masonry from it will perfectly hide the small irregularities of the corner.
Another difficult design area is the arch.
But if it is used for decoration gypsum material, then this problem is solved quite easily, again due to the simplicity of processing such a tile.
Since the arch can have a different radius of curvature, which is difficult to calculate in advance, it is easiest to cut the tiles down at the place of its laying.
To do this, the tile is applied to the place where it will later be fixed with glue, and the edge of the arch is outlined on it with a pencil. According to this mark, a cut is made with a hacksaw with fine teeth.
In order not to be mistaken with the place where the element is fixed, it is best to circle it additionally on the wall by lightly pressing the pencil.
Since the gypsum tile does not have flexibility, it will be difficult to fix it on the arch opening area. The gap that forms between the wall and the tile must be completely filled with adhesive mass.
If “liquid nails” are used for fixing, then the glue is applied to the upper and lower parts of the tile, and after it dries, only the side clearance is filled with it.
Thus, the entire arch is framed.
Further, after the glue dries, in order to mask the corner joints of the masonry, a paint composition should be sprayed onto it. For this purpose, a conventional spray gun is suitable.
If this device is not available, then you can cover the stones with a liquid paint solution using a soft brush.
In any case, it is necessary to ensure that there are no streaks on the surface, therefore it is recommended to have a sponge on hand, with which they must be removed immediately.
The end edges of the stone are carefully painted over with a narrow soft brush designed for watercolor work.
The work must be carried out carefully, trying not to touch the surface of the wall.
If part of the paint nevertheless got on the surface of the wall, it must be removed with a damp sponge, and if necessary, touch up certain areas of the surface.
When the paint is completely dry, the masonry is covered with a water-based varnish. It has no unpleasant odor and dries quickly enough.
The varnish is applied with a wide soft brush, since the composition should cover all recessed areas of the masonry.
It is best to choose a matte varnish for the coating, as the gloss can spoil the whole look, because the "stone" will look unnatural.

Imitation of masonry in papier-mâché technique

Another option for decorating the walls of the hallway and corridor can be a finish that does not bring high costs, but it will require a lot of patience and strength, as well as creativity. In this case, the cladding is done using the familiar papier-mâché technique. In the example brought to your attention, the master designed not only the hallway and kitchen, but also his office.

Next, it will be considered how to make material for manufacturing, how to apply it to the walls, and also paint it in the desired shades. Moreover, it should be noted that the shape of the stones in imitation of masonry can be for every taste of the master, and the color scheme is also selected for the intended style of the interior.

The shape and color of future “stones” are all the prerogative of the creative master

Step-by-step instructions for self-performing such a finish are in the table below:

IllustrationBrief description of the operation to be performed
In order to perform lining in this technique, you will need ordinary paper egg trays, wallpaper glue CMC, mosquito net 1000x1000 mm or fine mesh bag, for example for storing onions.
In addition, it is necessary to prepare washing powder for hand washing, as it gives more foam, white and colored enamel paint, soft brushes 150 and 10 mm wide (you will need several of them), an electric drill with a mixer nozzle, a plastic basin and a bucket .
In this case, the manufacture of a paper-glue mixture from ten egg trays will be demonstrated. This amount should be enough to cover an area on the wall with a size of approximately 550 × 550 mm.
The production of the working mass is best done in the bathroom, as the work requires a large amount of water.
In order not to clog the drain in the bath, it is best to protect it with a regular mesh, which is installed in the sink in the kitchen.
Trays are treated differently: some masters knead them or cut them into small pieces, others simply immerse them in very hot water.
So, for soaking ten trays, 6 ÷ 7 liters of hot water will be required, to which 50 grams of washing powder should be added.
The trays are immersed in boiling water one by one, so that their cells do not overlap, and left to soak for half an hour.
Then, taking a drill with a mixer attachment, mix and knead the resulting mass with its help.
Further, the soaked paper is kept in water for at least two more hours, since the mixture should turn out to be almost homogeneous, and also without odors characteristic of tray cardboard.
Washing powder will not only remove unpleasant odors, but will also contribute to faster and better paper softening.
Two hours later, the mass is crushed and mixed with a mixer installed in an electric drill. Simultaneously with mixing, a kind of “washing” of the resulting mass is also carried out.
Next, the resulting "porridge" of paper must be rinsed.
To do this, a cut is installed in a plastic bucket mosquito net. It must be well laid out at the bottom of the bucket, and then fasten its edges to the bucket with ordinary clothespins.
Then, about 1 kg of paper pulp is laid out in the container prepared in this way.
After that, the mesh rises up and twists in the upper part, then the resulting "bag" is taken out of the bucket, placed on a lattice stand in the bath.
Further, a mug is pressed onto the grid with the working mass, squeezing out excess liquid from it.
The squeezed mass, without freeing it from the mesh, must be washed from the powder with running water from the shower. The mass must be turned over and squeezed by hand until clean water flows from it.
Rinsing is carried out first with cold and then with warm water, after which the mass is wrung out, like ordinary underwear.
The rinsed and wrung out paper is poured into a clean container, as it should be dry and crumble easily.
The same work can be done using a mechanical washing machine, in which the centrifuge is installed separately from the washing tank.
A mesh bag is installed in the centrifuge, paper soaked in soapy water is placed in it, then the bag is twisted and tied at the top.
Then the centrifuge lid is closed, the device is turned on, and the mass is squeezed out.
After spinning, the mixture is rinsed. To do this, water from the shower is poured into the centrifuge, and then moisture is again squeezed out of the mass.
If an automatic machine is installed in the apartment, then it’s not worth the risk, since it has a different spinning principle, and the paper can clog the filters of the device. Therefore, it is best to do the work manually.
The next step is to add one liter of diluted CMC glue to the pulp made from ten trays.
When mixing, you will have to add a little more pure water to the mixture, and if the mass is not plastic enough, then also about 0.5 liters of glue.
It is most convenient to mix the paper-glue mixture with the help of a mixer nozzle installed in an electric drill.
As a result of mixing, a homogeneous, plastic, pleasant-to-work mixture with high adhesion to any surface should be obtained.
Cladding work begins from the top of the wall from the ceiling.
The mass is thrown and leveled along the ceiling plinth or the junction of the wall and ceiling. In this area, the mass should adhere tightly to the surface - it is pressed with fingers, at the same time forming the first seam between the "stones".
The advantage of this finishing material is that the paper-adhesive mass, unlike other solutions, does not leave marks on any material located next to the surface to be coated.
In this case, an example of the formation of a relief from a mass made from 10 trays is presented.
The mass is applied to the wall by sketching or simply by applying the collected lump by hand with the necessary effort.
Having sketched a small amount of material, it is pressed against the surface of the wall with the palm of your hand.
The mixture does not leave dirty marks on the hands and easily adheres to any wall covering - it can be tile, wood, whitewash, concrete, drywall, brickwork and other materials.
After the mass has been applied to the wall, it is pressed firmly against the surface with the hands, while creating approximately the same layer thickness.
The facing material does not require ideal leveling, since natural stones almost always have an uneven surface, except for pebbles polished with water.
On a leveled wet layer, the formation of a “stonework” relief begins.
To do this, recesses are made in the mass with hands, which will become the seams between the imitated "stones".
At the same time, the shape of the "stones" themselves is created.
The master recommends, when creating a relief, to alternate small and large "stones", giving them various shapes. They should not be laid correctly, with even seams between them, it is better if the artificial stones created in this technique are randomly located.
When forming the “masonry” elements, when pressing the mass with a hand, for example, when creating a seam, the mixture on the other side rises, forming a tubercle. It must be pressed, while distributing it to the mass located nearby.
The mass in the seam between the "stones" should be well pressed against the wall, and in order not to use additional tools, the width of the seam can be determined by the thickness of the finger with which it is formed.
When forming "stones", it is necessary to ensure that their middle part is not strongly pressed inward, that is, their edges should be below the middle. Otherwise, after drying, the “stones” will become like saucers, and this circumstance will surely give out their artificial origin, and the masonry itself will not look very aesthetically pleasing.
In addition, do not leave the edges of the stones sharp, which can also ruin appearance relief - they are gently smoothed, leading to the seam.
It must also always be remembered that if large and small “stones” are included in the manufacture of a three-dimensional pattern on the wall, then the paper-glue mass will be spent rationally, economically, which will allow one batch to decorate a larger wall area.
The relief of the "stones" can act on different height from the wall - this will give the masonry more naturalness, that is, they do not need to be especially compared and smoothed.
If the design of the wall is planned with artificial stones imitating pebbles, then a little more glue should be added to the mass. It will make the material more plastic and easy to smooth.
When the work on creating the relief is completed, the wall lined with this technique must be properly dried, otherwise cracks may form on it, or the layer will separate from the surface.
To prevent this from happening, drying should be carried out in natural conditions, that is, there should not be a draft in the room or turned on heaters aimed at finishing.
If at the end of the work there is an excess paper-glue mass left, it must be stored in an open form, otherwise it will acquire an unpleasant musty smell. If, nevertheless, this happened, then the mass will have to be stretched again, squeezed out and then can be used again in work.
If moisture has evaporated from the mixture, then before use, water should be added to it, soaked and mixed well.
When the created relief on the wall is completely dry, it is necessary to check it for cracks and flaking.
If cracks are found, they should be repaired with the same paper-glue mixture, and while it dries, you can do color markings.
In this case, the master first determines the color of each of the “stones” with colored dots.
This method simplifies the work, since paint of the same color is first taken and it is applied to the marked “stones” throughout the entire facing layer.
For coloring, it is best to use alkyd matte enamel or oil paint, which is applied to the "stones" in two layers.
Then stones of a different color are painted, and so on until the entire surface is covered with a layer of paint.
The paint is applied to the entire relief of the "stone" to the seam.
Sometimes, to give naturalness to painting one “stone”, several shades are used, which gives the masonry elements a deeper volume.
As for staining, we can say that this process can be done in different ways, depending on the goal and the style solution of the interior. It all depends on the artistic taste of the master.
The paint is applied to the seam in such a way that it does not find the “stone” on the protruding relief. It should not stand out in the foreground, since the task of designing the seams is to give the finish neatness, that is, they should only be the background for the main elements.
In this case, the result of work is presented in the selected green-brown-beige range, with seams made in blue shades.
However, each master chooses his own color option, which is more suitable for his vision of the created interior.
Properly lined wall, covered with enamel or oil paint, easy to clean with soapy water and a stiff brush.
Based on this, we can conclude that the finish is moisture resistant and can be used for any of the rooms, including the bathroom. An exception is the area where the bathtub meets the wall - it is recommended to lay one horizontal row of ceramic tiles there, matching in color with the future "masonry".
It can also be noted that the mass made from cardboard of egg trays has low heat and sound conductivity, so a wall finished with this material will dampen noise from the outside, and will also become warmer, unlike brick or concrete.

So, there are a lot of available methods and necessary materials for finishing the corridor. The main thing is to start for yourself to decide what you would like to get as a result of the repair. The second step is to determine the amount that it is possible to allocate for repairs in this room, and then look for options that are suitable in all respects.

And in order to spur the imagination of an interested reader, below is a video in which many very interesting options for finishing the corridor and hallway are presented.

Video: a variety of design solutions for finishing the corridor and hallway

The corridor or hallway is the room where the tenants of the apartment first of all get when they come home from the street, so pollution and damage are sure to appear on their walls over time. If there are small children or animals in the apartment or house, then the decoration of the lower part of the wall will certainly be in a special risk zone. Therefore, when starting repairs, you need to carefully consider how to finish the walls in the corridor so that the material is resistant to most mechanical influences.

In addition, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the entrance hall is usually the “face” of the apartment, setting the tone for the interior design of all rooms, which means that one cannot but think not only about the strength qualities of the material, but also about its aesthetic side.

A large assortment modern materials, which today can be found in hardware stores, makes it possible to choose a finish for any request in terms of style and financial possibilities. However, before dwelling on one of the many design options, you need to consider the positive and negative aspects of the chosen approach.

wood finish

The tree has not gone out of fashion for many centuries, thanks to its amazing qualities that create the most favorable microclimate in the premises of the apartment. For finishing the hallway and corridors, wooden facing materials, produced in the form of lining or panels, depending on the chosen design style.

Natural lining

Wooden lining is a more affordable material compared to natural panels. It is manufactured in various forms ah, so it is possible to use it to create an interior that matches different styles.

Several types of lining are produced, but all of them are used when decorating a corridor in such styles as Provence, Country or Russian hut.

Wood is a material with a structure that does not conduct heat well, thereby keeping it indoors, so walls sheathed with it will always be warm to the touch. In addition, such a finish can partially reduce the level of noise coming from outside.

Wooden lining is often called a tongue-and-groove board in a different way, although this is a contradiction - this term is more suitable for floor boards that do not have external relief. However, a board with a smooth, non-profiled outer surface is often a good material for finishing walls in hallways and corridors.

The lining is classified, in addition to the type of profile, according to quality features - it is customary to distinguish between classes "extra", "A", "B", "C".

  • "Extra" is the lining of the high class, which does not have defects and the core of the trunk.
  • "A" - a class of material that also has high quality. In the production of this lining, wood is selected, on which one knot per 1500 linear millimeters is allowed on the front side or edge, as well as up to two non-through and small cracks on the back side of the board.
  • "B" - a class of lining with more than low quality, therefore, it can have up to four knots for every 1500 p. mm, with a diameter of up to 20 mm. It is also allowed up to two non-through cracks, darkening and streaks.
  • "C" is the lowest class of finishing material. It can have knots up to 25 mm in diameter, several cracks up to 5% of the length of the lamella, bluish and dark stains, and even mechanical damage. This material has a low price, so it is often used for the manufacture of crates. If such a lining is planned to be used for decorative cladding, then it will have to work a lot on it, cleaning the surfaces and repairing flaws.

For lining the walls of the corridor, any of the classes is suitable, but some of them can be used in natural form, that is, preserving the textured pattern of the tree, while others must be painted to mask the damage repaired with putty.

The lining is made from various woods, both coniferous and hardwood. The most affordable material can be called pine, linden and aspen, and the most expensive finish is lining made of larch, cedar, oak, alder and ash.

The lining can be installed on the walls horizontally or vertically, depending on the effect you want to get. If the hallway or corridor is narrow and long, then it is best to mount the lamellas vertically, otherwise the room will seem even narrower and longer. AT square hallway lining can be fixed in different ways, as planned by the design. To give the room originality, you can use a combined mounting option, that is, sheathe one wall horizontally, the other vertically, or even combine different directions on one wall.

Natural massive panels

More expensive natural wood finishes are massive panels, which can completely sheathe all the walls, one of them, or only the lower sections are decorated with them. For the manufacture of this material, mainly expensive hardwood is used, which has a beautiful textured pattern, such as beech, oak, alder, cedar, ash. However, all these breeds have a high price and are not always affordable for a family with an average income. To reduce the cost of their production, most often different types of wood are combined with each other.

For example, the base of the panel is made from a less expensive material - it can be pine or spruce, and then its front side is covered with two or three layers of fine wood veneer. The veneer is fastened to the base using a special hot pressing technology, which gives the panels increased strength.

Panels are also made from plywood, which is also veneered, and then varnished or waxed.

Wall panels, depending on their design, can be applied in different styles- these are classics, classic English, Victorian, modern, neoclassicism, rococo and other trends.

Advantages and disadvantages of wood finishes

If we talk about the negative aspects of finishing the corridor with wood, then they practically do not exist, since it is devoid of flaws, with the exception of the high price of some of its options. But on the other hand, it has many more advantages than any other material.

  • Wood has excellent strength and resistance to mechanical influences therefore, with proper processing, the finish is not afraid of the claws and teeth of pets.
  • The environmental friendliness of wood is undeniable compared to other artificial finishes, so this design can create a microclimate that is favorable for the residents of the apartment.
  • The durability of the wooden finish will allow not a single dozen years to resort to repairing the hallway.
  • If you want to change the interior design of the room, the finish can be easily painted in one or more colors.
  • The ease of installation of any type of wood finish, with the necessary tools, allows you to carry out this process on your own.
  • Each type of wood has its own textured pattern and color scheme, so it will not be difficult to choose exactly the option that will appeal to the owners of the apartment and will fit well into the planned interior of the hallway.
  • And wooden panels, and a well-fitted board and lining go well with a variety of materials, such as wallpaper or artificial stone, so this finish provides ample opportunity for imagination when developing an interior project.

Wallpaper finishing

In spite of a large number of new finishing materials that appeared in recent times in free access, continue to be popular, not only for living rooms, but also for the corridor or hallway.

But, as you know, wallpaper is a rather thin material that is prone to damage and pollution. Therefore, if there is no perverse desire to renovate the corridor every year, then it is best to combine them with more durable finishes, such as wood, plastic, chipboard or MDF panels or artificial stone.

It is especially important to choose a combined option if there are animals in the house. Well, in the event that a small child lives in the apartment, and it is decided to finish with wallpaper only, then their washable version is best suited.

If earlier in stores you could only find paper wallpaper, then today the range of this finishing material is extremely wide. So, for a hallway or corridor, non-woven, vinyl, fiberglass, metallized and photo wallpapers can be suitable. You should not choose textile finishing cloths for decoration of these rooms, as dust can accumulate in them, which can cause the development of allergic reactions.

To make a choice, it is worth considering a little more in detail the most popular types of this material.

Non-woven wallpaper

The non-woven version of the wallpaper consists of two layers - a base made of non-woven cellulose fabric, as well as an upper polymer coating. This type of material is not strong enough, but is able to hide small flaws in the walls. It does not shrink when pasted, wear-resistant, environmentally friendly, easy to self-assembly, since when finishing, the glue is applied only to the wall.

Non-woven wallpaper is suitable for decorating not only walls, but also the ceiling. If you need to change the interior, they can be painted in the desired color.

If a cat can reach the non-woven wallpaper, it will gladly sharpen its claws on them, so it is best to combine them with high, durable panels.

Vinyl wallpapers

Vinyl wallpapers also consist of two layers - a base made of paper or non-woven fabric, and a decorative PVC coating, which can have different thicknesses and reliefs. This coating has many varieties, and one of them, which has become especially popular, is “silk-screen printing”.

Vinyl sheets have high strength and wear resistance, they are inert to ultraviolet and retain their original color for many years. Such wallpapers can be called washable, as they are easily amenable to regular wet cleaning. The variety of colors and textures of this material is so great that they can be matched to any interior style.

If this particular finish is chosen to decorate the corridor, then it is not recommended to purchase wallpapers of dubious quality due to their low price, as they can be toxic. The best option for any of the rooms there will be non-woven fabrics, as they are "breathable".

fiberglass wallpaper

Wallpapers based on fiberglass have increased strength, as they contain strong fibers in their composition. This is an environmentally friendly material that can be painted after wall gluing with water-based or latex-based paints. Wallpapers are highly wear-resistant, their service life is about 30 years, and during this period they are able to freely withstand up to 15 repaints. The material does not crack at the corners when the structure shrinks, it does not burn, is water resistant and is not a nutrient medium for microflora colonies.

Wallpapering the corridor with wallpaper can be done independently

Many owners have already tried their hand at carrying out such a finish with their own hands. But if there is no relevant experience, then before starting this work, we recommend that you read the article on our portal.

Wall mural

Wall murals are made from various materials - they can be paper, non-woven, vinyl and fabric. For the corridor, it is best to choose a vinyl or non-woven version, as they have the characteristics suitable for this room.

Finishing material is also subdivided by texture. So, on sale you can find:

— Wallpaper with a smooth glossy and matte surface.

- Embossed wallpaper imitating sand, canvas and other fabric weaving, as well as a variety of three-dimensional drawings.

This finishing material can be decorated with images with different effects:

  • Background photo wallpaper decorated with frequent floral or other patterns, arranged in a certain order. They differ in that they do not have a specific plot. Like option is suitable for decorating a corridor or hallway, but at the same time it is necessary to choose washable varieties or combine them with other materials.

Background decoration, depending on the choice of color and pattern, can visually expand or reduce the area of the room being decorated.

  • Panoramic wallpaper have images of natural or modern urban landscapes, balconies or small courtyards. They can also create a room-enlarging effect, so they are the best suited for decorating narrow rooms.
  • Photo wallpaper with realistic images are also often used to decorate the walls of corridors - these are photographs of flowers, grass, flowering trees etc. Most often, these canvases have a three-dimensional 3D effect that creates the illusion of expanding space, or HD, in which the drawings have the clearest detail.
  • Subject photo wallpaper , which have large images of one or more objects applied, are better suited for rooms with large areas, as in small rooms, they will look ridiculous and visually reduce them. For a corridor, this is not the best option.

Have you tried wallpapering?

The question is not idle, since this finishing operation- quite complex, full of nuances. in order to avoid mistakes and not spoil expensive material - read in a separate publication of our portal.

cork finish

Cork, which has antistatic qualities, is fire resistant and non-hygroscopic, resistant to deformation, ultraviolet, and most importantly, to mechanical stress, will be an ideal finishing option for the corridor. Due to the strength of this material, it is not afraid of the claws and teeth of animals. Cork is an environmentally friendly material, it is very light in weight, which simplifies its installation on walls.

plastic panels

Cork is a natural material that perfectly insulates the room and makes the walls warm and pleasant to the touch. Cork finishing is produced in different versions - it can be wallpaper, plates and rolled canvas on a self-adhesive basis. The color scheme of the finishing elements is diverse, as it can have a large number of options, both plain and interspersed with different shades.

Cork finishing materials are made from oak bark growing in the Mediterranean. Veneer is cut from the peeled bark, solid panels are prepared, or it is crushed into crumbs, followed by the production of wall and floor slabs, roll materials, baseless or paper-based wallpapers. Cork is used to decorate not only walls, but also other surfaces of the room.

In stores, you can find cork materials that require additional processing - they have a lower price. However, it is better to purchase a finish that does not need to be additionally applied with protective agents, since if this process is carried out incorrectly, it is quite possible to spoil the appearance of the coating.

  • Cork panels

Cork tiles or panels are made on a plywood or MDF basis, on which tongue-and-groove joints are made. This allows you to assemble individual elements into a single coating with almost invisible seams.

Another version of cork slabs consists of three rather thin layers - the lower one, which serves as the basis, the middle one, and the upper decorative one, interconnected with natural glue. This finishing material is decorated with cork veneer.

  • Roll web

Rolled cork cloth consists of two layers - pressed crumb, which is the basis, and decorative thin veneer. Cloths are glued on the surface of the walls and floor butt. After installation of such a finish, the sheets merge into a single coating with invisible seams of joints.

In addition to decorative, technical cork roll coatings are produced, which are used as substrates for other types of finishes. They are used as an effective insulating and soundproofing material.

  • Cork wallpaper

Cork wallpaper has a thickness of 1 to 4 mm. They can be baseless, like a roll web, or paper serves as the basis for them. Therefore, they are glued to prepared walls in much the same way as ordinary wallpapers, but, unlike them, they are able to mask small flaws on surfaces.

It should be noted that any cork material goes well with other finishes, so you can develop and implement various combined options.

Cork well suited for finishing walk-through rooms, both aesthetically and technical specifications. The only thing that can stop you from choosing it is a rather high price.

Wall decoration with bamboo

Finishing the corridor with bamboo is great choice, as this material has high strength and is not afraid of mechanical influences. In addition, it is environmentally friendly and durable, requiring no complex care material that can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth.

Bamboo trim is produced in different forms - it can be rigid panels or wallpaper mats assembled from slats of different widths.

  • bamboo panels

For the manufacture of bamboo panels, one-piece trunks or their halves are most often used, but sometimes they are also assembled from slats glued to the base. They consist of one or two layers, are produced by hot pressing, while they can have different dimensions and thicknesses.

Bamboo pairs well with other finishes such as wallpaper or tiles that mimic flat stone options. Most often, panels are used to decorate the lower part of the walls, which are more in need of their protective functions. Bamboo is not afraid cat claws and any contaminants - the latter are easily removed by all available means. On the wall, the panels are fixed with the help of “liquid nails”, and installation, as a rule, does not pose any difficulties.

  • bamboo wallpaper

Bamboo wallpapers are made from slats, on which the inside of solid trunks is unfolded. The thickness of the canvases can vary from 3 to 5 mm. The slats are stitched with a thick strong thread, which makes them look like mats (which, by and large, they are). Most often, rolls of 10 × 0.92 m are found on sale.

Another version of the wallpaper made of this material has a base of technical gauze or rice paper, on which slats cut from the outer smooth part of the trunk, which is its bark, are glued. The width of the slats is from 8 to 20 mm, and the thickness is 1÷2 mm. A roll of such wallpaper has standard parameters, its length is 10,000 mm, and its width is 2500, 2000, 1500 and 1000 mm.

Wallpapers are produced in different design options - they can be plain or have a natural pattern characteristic of this material.

a natural stone

For its decorative qualities bamboo wallpaper almost indistinguishable from panels. They can be combined with each other, but for this you need to choose harmonizing shades.

Bamboo wallpapers are fixed to the wall with PVA polymer glue. It is recommended to align the walls with drywall before their installation, on the primed surface of which they are fixed quite easily. If the material will be glued to another, more complex surface, then it is better to use “liquid nails” for installation work.

Plastic panels

PVC panels are an affordable and easy-to-install material that can, nevertheless, significantly transform any room. Such cladding provides great opportunities in planning your own version of the interior of the corridor, as it is produced in a rich variety of colors, ornamental and relief patterns, with a very reliable imitation of natural materials - the texture of wood, stone, sand, etc.

This material is very popular due to its aesthetic appearance, durability and relative strength. The panels are easily put in order with the help of wet cleaning, so they are perfect for finishing the walls of the corridor, both the lower part of the wall and all surfaces completely.

If PVC panels are chosen for finishing the corridor, then the repair will take place quickly and relatively cleanly, without unpleasant odors paint and spilled glue.

With the help of this material, it is quite easy to level the surfaces of the premises, it becomes possible to hide cables and communication pipes without digging the walls. In addition, soundproofing material can be placed behind the panels.

The panels produced for interior decoration are an environmentally friendly material that does not emit harmful fumes.

The advantage of PVC panels is also that such a coating will not attract animals to itself, as it has a smooth surface that is not easy to grab with claws.

In order for the finish to meet all the qualities mentioned above, you should not purchase cheap materials. The stiffening ribs installed inside the panel should not be visible through the outer solid layers of plastic, and when pressed with your fingers, they should not be crushed.

The surface of the panels should not have deformations and dents, and the joining of individual lamellas should be easy, with the tongue fully entering the groove.

It is impossible not to recall that for the decoration of corridors and hallways it is necessary to choose PVC panels with a flammability category G1 or NG. They have special treatment, which makes them more resistant to ignition and melting even when heated to extremely high temperatures. This circumstance must be taken into account so that in emergency situations the exit from the apartment is not blocked by strong and toxic smoke or even open fire.

The process of installing PVC cladding on walls is available to everyone!

Any more or less “savvy” with basic building skills, the owner is able to perform such a cladding. How it is produced - read in a separate publication of our portal.

MDF or fiberboard panels

MDF is a fibreboard obtained by dry pressing fibers using carbamide resins. Outer side panels are decorated with a coating imitating natural wood different breeds or other natural materials. Some panels are covered with a special protective film - this process is called lamination.

In addition to MDF, fiberboard panels are also on sale, which have a lower cost, but experienced craftsmen Still, it is recommended to choose the first option of finishing.

The essential difference between these materials lies in their technical characteristics:

  • MDF is a safer material than fiberboard, since the latter uses phenol-formaldehyde resins as a binder, which emit toxic fumes that can harm the health of apartment residents. MDF, from this point of view, is incomparably cleaner.
  • The strength of MDF is much higher than that of fiberboard finishes. Such panels are more resistant to external mechanical influences, which is very important for a room such as a corridor.
  • MDF, unlike fiberboard, has a water-repellent coating that allows for wet cleaning of walls without much regard for the frequency of this process.

However, for all its merits, MDF has a high flammability category - G4, and for different fiberboard models this parameter can be lower - from G1 to G4. Therefore, when choosing a finish, you must definitely pay attention to this characteristic.

Installation of both MDF and fiberboard is carried out in the same way, approximately the same as for PVC panels and natural wooden lining: along the batten guides installed vertically or horizontally.

MDF panels are produced in different dimensional standards. Thickness usually varies from 6 to 14 mm, width - from 98 to 325 mm, and in length they are 1300 or 2600 mm, that is, they are perfect for filling floor-to-ceiling space in a standard city apartment.

MDF panels are produced in several variations, which are divided according to the production method, characteristics and color features. They can be:

  • Whole-pressed.
  • Laminated with a smooth glossy surface.
  • Moisture resistant, designed for rooms with high humidity.
  • Veneered, imitating the finish of natural wood or cork.
  • Painted with a special paint that can smooth out irregularities and create a glossy or matte surface.

Fake diamond

An artificial decorative stone is becoming quite a popular material for finishing the corridor. They either completely lay out the walls, or combine it with plastered or otherwise decorated surfaces.

Gypsum and cement based stone

The most common, which is used for decoration, is made on the basis of cement or gypsum using various plasticizing additives. This finishing material can be characterized as follows:

  • A wide variety of relief patterns and shades of artificial stone perfectly imitates a wide variety of natural materials.
  • Sufficiently high strength indicators guarantee the durability of the finish with properly executed masonry.
  • In case of accidental damage to the surface of the stone, they can be easily restored on their own, the main thing is to determine exactly what material it is made of. If the base is gypsum, then the restoration should be done only with this material (the same applies to cement).
  • If you have experience in laying ceramic tiles, it will not be difficult to finish the walls with artificial stone yourself.
  • Artificial stone also has several disadvantages:
  • Low resistance to abrasion of the surface of the material. Therefore, it will be necessary to periodically update the color or immediately cover the surface of the stone fixed to the wall with a varnish with high surface resistance (for example, polyurethane).
  • The cost of such a finishing material is quite high.

You can make artificial stone yourself!

If you want to save on the purchase of material and try your hand at this craft, the reader should read the article, which is located on the pages of our portal.

In addition to the above materials, more expensive ones are also used for manufacturing - they make a more durable artificial stone that is not subject to abrasion and mechanical damage.

acrylic stone

This kind of artificial stone is made from 75% mineral natural environmentally friendly materials that exude from white clay. In addition to it, it includes stone chips - it can be marble, granite, jasper and other minerals. The binder for the ingredients is acrylic resin (polymethyl methacryl). The color scheme is created by special natural pigments harmless to humans.

Thanks to all the above components, acrylic artificial stone is a very wear-resistant and durable material, so even items such as kitchen worktops and sinks are made from it.

quartz stone

Quartz artificial stone is more durable than acrylic, as it contains about 90% natural crushed quartz. It is more resistant to scratches and any other damage, and is also used not only as decorative finishes, but also for the manufacture of durable countertops for the kitchen.

Polyester resins serve as a binder for quartz and color pigments - thanks to these components, the material is stronger than granite. In addition to strength, quartz stone has such qualities as environmental friendliness and resistance to the appearance and development of microorganisms harmful to humans on it. This material is light in weight and easy to care for, it does not absorb dirt, and it is enough to periodically wipe it with a damp cloth.

Indoor walls, from a technical point of view, have no restrictions, since it is not combustible and does not contain substances harmful to humans. However, it is necessary to show a sense of proportion, otherwise the apartment will resemble some kind of cave. Therefore, most often stone trim is combined with decorative or ordinary plaster, and sometimes even just with wallpaper.

The stone is most often laid around doorways, or the corners of the room are trimmed with it, which will contribute not only to the decorative design, but also to the protection of the most vulnerable places on the walls to damage.

Single inserts of stone on the plastered surface of the walls are also possible. The main thing is to correctly think over the color scheme and the correct location of the finishing material.

Now, after getting acquainted with what finishes are best suited for the walls of the corridor, it will be easier for the reader to choose the best option, given the quality of the materials, the design style and, of course, their own financial capabilities. And let the video selection below with very interesting design solutions for decorating the corridor in the apartment be of help to him.

Video: There is a lot to learn - design options for finishing the corridor

The entrance hall is the first room that all guests see, so this is a kind of “face” of the apartment, which speaks of the neatness and accuracy of the owners. Anyone who values his status must certainly think over the design for the hallway of a panel house apartment in detail.

On the other hand, this room, being non-residential, must have a certain functionality: have a shoe rack, a hanger, mirrors, etc. In view of these features, the design of the hallway is a particularly difficult task.

Interior refurbishment

It often happens that the gray standard layout of mass panel buildings, where the division between residential areas is very conditional, makes many owners think about rebuilding. Most often, the hallway is a long and narrow corridor, and very small in size.

There can be a great variety of options to transform the interior of the corridor in a panel house apartment. All of them can be divided into two large groups:

  • a small, "cosmetic" improvement - the addition of arches, stained-glass windows, the construction of one or more partitions (and it is not necessary to observe symmetry), skillful integration of dimensional furniture into the interior, while observing color and visual compatibility,
  • serious redevelopment, which may even include the destruction of blank walls (perhaps even a complete transformation of the room into another for its intended purpose, for example, into a wardrobe or pantry).

Furnishings

Furniture with proper installation can perfectly decorate the interior of the hallway in a panel house apartment and become an organic part of the corridor. The main thing you need to focus on is the area of \u200b\u200bthe room. If it is small, then it is hardly worth placing something larger than a shoe rack there. The same applies to premises of a very non-standard form: an individual order can be the way out.

You can talk about furnishing only if the corridor is at least medium in size. At the same time, most often, the owners of apartments in panel houses opt for cabinets, since this allows you to free up significant space in the living quarters.

In order for the cabinet to successfully fit into the interior, you need to follow a number of rules:

  1. The wardrobe should not be too wide (it will not let you pass in a small room) or too narrow (then the structure will be very unstable and will have to be fixed to the wall). Usually a width of a little more than half a meter is considered ideal.
  2. For corridors, it is better not to buy furniture made of expensive natural wood, which will very quickly lose its presentation here. On the other hand, you should not put a headset made of cheap plastic.
  3. Furniture should be chosen in light shades or with an original combination of several colors.
  4. Wardrobes with sliding doors ("coupe") will help to save a lot of space.
  5. Large mirrors built into the furniture can also add a unique entourage.

The choice of coloring seriously depends on the size of the room and its layout. The right choice of colors when designing a corridor in a panel house apartment gives the first and most serious visual impression.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Room size. It is widely known that dark coloring visually reduces the room, therefore it is highly not recommended to use it for already cramped panel houses (except when there are windows, which is extremely rare in domestic planning practice). There is an unspoken rule in the design community not to use more than three colors in the design, and only one of them will be the main one, and the other two play only a supporting role. Most often, a competent combination of cream, orange, blue and other light colors is used.
  2. The form. You can fix the flaw in the form of a low ceiling by simply painting it brown paint. A similar play of color can be used to create the effect of lengthening or shortening an unusually shaped room.
  3. General style of the apartment. Interior private room should not stand out from the integral design of the dwelling, otherwise it will be perceived extremely vulgarly.
  4. Designer's individual idea. The use of a certain author's concept allows sufficient freedom in the choice of materials and colors in order to embody any sophisticated idea. For example, the design of the baroque style involves the predominance of golden, as well as white and pink shades.

wall decoration

When choosing options for finishing the hallway of a panel house, several considerations must be taken into account:

  1. This is a room where a person spends much less time than in any other, so the cheapest materials are usually used for its decoration.
  2. The entrance hall is the place where dirt from shoes and dust from the entrance are constantly deposited. Therefore, the materials should not only be cheap, but also easy to clean.
  3. Durability. Walls and ceilings are also affected by temperature differences due to the constant opening of the door, so condensation settles on them.

However, most often they decide to decorate the interior of the corridor in the apartment with wallpaper:

  1. Wallpaper for subsequent painting. The main advantage of this solution is the ability to color old surface anew, giving it a new life. Since dirt will inevitably stain the bottom of the wall, it is better to keep it in darker colors than the top.
  2. Wall murals are suitable only for those hallways whose walls are not completely lined with a wardrobe and hangers. A high-quality drawing should please the eye in full growth.
  3. The so-called liquid wallpaper - have become especially popular recently.

Sometimes the interior of the hallway is trimmed PVC panels, tiles, stone. The latest trend is the exposure of the corridor in vertical black and white horizontal stripes (art deco style).

Lighting

For small and low rooms, floor lighting with a stream of light directed to the ceiling is perfect. With skillful lighting design, the size of a small hallway in a panel house apartment will optically appear larger. With a good choice of lighting in the hallway, its size will seem larger.

As for wall lighting, it is ideal for almost any type of hallway. The shape of the lamps can be chosen specifically for the theme of the design of the room. The main thing is that the light does not dazzle, for which sometimes lamps are placed at a height of more than two meters. If the corridor is very narrow, then a sconce can be placed on the wall at the end.

If a mirror is installed in the room, then for the best optical effect, the light should be soft, otherwise the reflection will turn out to be blurry and will cast shadows.

It is better not to place an impressive chandelier on the ceiling of the hallway - it will visually reduce the interior. The best solution would be to install "portholes" built into the plane of the ceiling in two rows along its entire length. This will create a unique cosiness and mysterious atmosphere.

  • using point light to highlight the desired areas,
  • find tiles, parquet or linoleum of interesting unusual colors,
  • install several mirrors in beautiful frames,
  • make partial inserts of stone, porcelain stoneware decorative plaster etc.,
  • hang a few handmade lamps,
  • if you need niches or shelves, then make them with colored lights,
  • hang pictures or family photos graphics.

  • visually the room will look more spacious,

In Khrushchev and panel houses, the corridors are usually long and narrow. Many consider it a punishment. But even from such a room you can make a masterpiece. To do this, designers give a few secrets:

  • walls and floor need to be decorated with different light shades, but it is better to avoid white,
  • a sliding wardrobe with mirrors will visually make the hallway wider; for the same purpose, you can use a model with partially open shelves,
  • such a long room must be well lit.

Making a small square corridor beautiful is not as difficult as it seems. It is better to lay tiles on the floor, but not ribbed ones - this complicates the care of it. The ceiling can be made stretch, and it is not necessary to dwell on classical forms and invoices. It is better to glue wallpaper with a discreet pattern or use light plain colors. The cutting of all thresholds will also visually increase the corridor, and in their place you can lay a floor covering.

Over the years, the design of corridors decorated with stone has not lost its popularity. Fulfilling the desire of such a design is simple. In the hallway, you can use natural stone, decorative or just wallpaper with a pattern of brick or masonry. With the help of decorative stone, you can get the effect of antiquity, and thanks to the wallpaper with the image of a brick - the naturalness of the room.

A large corridor gives vent to fantasy, but also requires compliance simple rules design. If you choose a horizontal stripe, the hallway will appear wider, and if you stop at a vertical one, it will appear higher. Refusing sharp corners, you will achieve the sophistication of the room. By adding elements made by hand, the room will be more comfortable. Feel free to fantasize - this will make your home unique and beautiful.

Hallways for a small corridor: design secrets

If the theater begins with a hanger, then our house begins with a hallway. The hallway is a kind of “calling card” of your home, setting a certain tone for the entire room. But what if the footage leaves much to be desired? Usually this question is asked by the happy owners of panel houses or Khrushchevs, who got a miserable 3-4 sq.m. reserved for the hallway.

Design of a narrow corridor in the apartment

Often we don’t even think about developing a full-fledged design project for the hallway. “I’ll stick light wallpaper, and okay” - this is the solution that suits many.

It is then that convulsive attempts begin to somehow fold the shoes so that they do not take up much space, the search for some kind of poster that would hide the stains that appeared from outerwear and a bunch of curses that fall on the heads of household members who once again stumbled into the house in dirty shoes. To solve all these problems, you have to think through every little thing.

First, let's define terms. The hallway is the part of the room near the front door. A corridor is a space, a passage between rooms. But in small apartments, these two concepts are combined.

Therefore, speaking of a narrow corridor in a small apartment, we will have in mind exactly that elongated and narrow space that serves both as an entrance hall and as a corridor itself. You can create a bright interior design even in a small hallway.

A small hallway can be decorated in such a way as combining wallpaper. This technique will help you visually increase the space of the hallway and make its design unique.
Now you need to isolate the main functions of our hallway corridor:

  1. A place to store more clothes and shoes.
  2. A place to store important little things, such as umbrellas, bags, key holders, leashes and other things.
  3. A mirror to once again make sure of your irresistibility before going outside.
  4. Aesthetic component (remember the role of "business cards" for the whole house).
  5. I would like the cleaning in the hallway to be minimized, and the freshness of the finish and cleanliness to be preserved for a long time.

Here are some tricks experienced designers use:

  1. Get rid of all unnecessary doors. In Khrushchev, the entrance hall is a place where several doors open at once. Some of them are best removed. You can't remove the front door anywhere, that's understandable.

The door to the bathroom also remains: it’s not very pleasant when a wonderful panorama of the bathroom opens from the threshold. But the door to the kitchen or living room is better to demolish, replacing them with arched openings.

The arches will give the small hallway more space and remove the excessive "elongation" of the narrow corridor.

  • If possible, then long wall it is better to “break” by arranging a niche in it. And if you also equip a niche with lighting and install a mirror instead of the back panel, then this technique will give more space. In addition, such niches are a great place to store a variety of small things.
  • Be careful with mirrors. If the corridor wall is too long, then it is better to choose several mirrors arranged in one line than one large canvas.

Choosing materials

It is customary to save on finishing materials for the hallway. This is fundamentally wrong, since this room in the apartment is under heavy load. All the dirt from the street settles here, and the surfaces from frequent contact with shoes and clothes are quickly erased. If you do not want to purchase a one-piece hallway, consider the option with modular designs. They are easily disassembled into sections that can be installed where it is convenient for you.

It is desirable that there is a seating area in the hallway (especially if there are elderly people in the family). A pouf will do just fine with this role. In addition, various little things can be stored in the pouffe, such as cream and brushes for cleaning shoes. Small hallways do not tolerate bulky items. It is important that all furniture is as compact as possible.

Now on the market you can choose hallways up to 40 cm wide: it is convenient to store things and do not take up much space. On the other hand, an abundance of trifles is unacceptable. The number of decorative elements is best kept to a minimum. Protruding handles, embossed consoles and other tinsel are undesirable on furniture. Furniture in the hallway should be combined with the design of the front door. If the door is installed earlier, then the furniture should be chosen in the appropriate style.

decoration

A small room is not a reason to abandon decor elements. Important conditions: there should not be many of them, and they should not be massive. One picture on the wall, 1-2 bright vases on open shelves or in a niche, a rubber mat in front of the entrance are enough. Bright accessories will add vibrant colors to the overall light palette and make the design attractive.

Ideas for designing a narrow corridor in an apartment

Returning home is much more pleasant when you find yourself in a cozy corridor, albeit long and narrow. We can say that the narrow hallway acts as a kind of hallmark of the whole apartment, this is not necessarily a minus, the main thing is to know how to present everything correctly.

That is why you should not neglect the design and various tricks that can make a comfortable room out of a small corridor in an apartment, on small area which really make a lot of functional areas.

However, be careful, it is better not to choose white wallpaper and paint, because in the corridor, where street shoes and outerwear are constantly located, coatings of this color will quickly get dirty and lose their whiteness. A good option for a long corridor in an apartment would be light tiles - it will visually add volume to the hallway, and it’s easy to clean.

The disadvantage of a long and narrow corridor is the inability to put a large closet in the room. But he is not needed. It is highly undesirable to try to squeeze in a structure that will immediately spoil the whole look in your Khrushchev. Instead, it’s really possible to get by with hangers, hooks and a wardrobe.

A good option is a closet with partially open shelves. So, in its closed part you can store things, and open shelves will be designed for small things and decor items.

If in Khrushchev the layout is made in such a way that the corridor area is not typical, then you can easily order a wardrobe for a long and narrow corridor of a certain size in any design. The design concept of a narrow corridor in an apartment is best built on minimalism. Therefore, after installing a closet in the hallway, you should not heavily clutter it with furniture.

Near the entrance it would be appropriate to put a small shelf for shoes. Even if the closet is not equipped with a mirror, it is still worth hanging - such a design will visually expand the passage better than any means.

Under the mirror, you can also make a shelf where keys, umbrellas and gloves will be stored. Common sense dictates that the doors that open onto the corridor will be uncomfortable, so it is better to change them to sliding ones.

And the door to the kitchen or living room can be completely removed, such a design will allow light from the room to penetrate into a narrow corridor. Such a technique will not spoil the general appearance, on the contrary, it will look appropriate.

It is extremely important to choose the right lighting, because in very rare cases there are windows in the corridors. A good option would be to remove the doors to some rooms (the kitchen or even the living room), but even this move, alas, will not be enough with just a lamp in the hallway.

Therefore, the best option is to make additional lamps on the walls. The only point: they must be installed so that the light is directed to the ceiling, which will make the walls in the apartment visually higher.

Sliding wardrobes with "shark eyes" are often chosen - lamps built into the upper part of the cabinet. They not only add another source of light, but also allow you to easily find things and necessary items of clothing at any time.

With a really narrow corridor in Khrushchev, it is better to use more hooks for clothes nailed to the wall. This, firstly, will allow you not to constantly hide clothes in the closet, and, secondly, save space in the hallway. If you think that such designs will not fit into the design, then this is not at all the case.

Today there is a huge variety of hooks, including very resistant to loads and weight, forged or, on the contrary, almost transparent. And what to do with the design of the floor in the hallway small apartment? Not only tiles are suitable here, but also various water-repellent materials: laminate, parquet, varnished board.

But what definitely needs to be abandoned is carpeting. The only fabric or wool that is allowed here is the rug by the door. Otherwise, the covers will have to be washed or taken to the dry cleaner every week.

As for the ceiling in Khrushchev, then options with built-in lights would be ideal, since in many narrow corridors the ceiling is so low that a hanging chandelier will simply be an impractical option.

The main requirement for the design of any ceiling in an apartment, if you need to visually enlarge the space, is to choose its tone lighter than the tone of the walls. Try not to make complex patterns, cascades, drawings on the ceiling - they overload the space and reduce the corridor.

Stylish design for a narrow hallway in an apartment

For wall decoration in narrow corridors are selected thin materials, which do not steal precious centimeters of area, such as wallpaper or decorative stone. Moreover, it should be light shades with a vertical pattern.

In the design of a narrow hallway, it is recommended to use such neutral tones as pale green, blue, coffee with milk and light lilac. Fully plain wallpaper it is better not to apply, it can give dullness to the interior. A good option is light wallpaper on the long sides and bright ones with a pattern on the ends or semi-columns.

It is no secret that walls in the hallways get dirty quickly, and therefore wall coverings should be chosen to be washable. Narrow corridors also allow such a design solution, when the bottom of the walls, which is most susceptible to pollution, is made in darker colors.

If the apartment has low ceilings, then it is desirable to make them lighter. than walls. This will make them visually taller. Accordingly, high ceilings should be darker than the main background of the hallway.

The long narrow room can be divided into two: vestibule and vestibule. Furniture for clothes and shoes is located in the entrance area, and something like a rest room is arranged in the lobby. For example, put coffee table and an armchair, or a sports children's corner is mounted. the choice of sports corners is large enough and you can choose the desired design.

Perform such zoning with the help of arches, different finishes walls (for example, by hanging family photos) and floors, as well as multi-level ceilings. In the entrance area, it is desirable to arrange underfloor heating with ceramic tiles. And changing shoes on such floors is more pleasant, and shoes can be dried. At the same time, ceramic tiles are very easy to clean. Laminate, carpet, linoleum is recommended in the lobby.

If you lay out tiles of different colors on the floor. in the center is a light palette, and at the edges is dark, then this option will allow you to expand the walls. Thinking through the design of the floor, you need to avoid longitudinal stripes. Such a pattern will visually narrow and lengthen an already small room.

Furniture for narrow hallways should be chosen shallow so that there is more free space in the center. It will be enough to put a stand for shoes and hang a hanger-board on the wall. It is desirable that it be equipped with a shelf for hats.

A narrow wardrobe with sliding doors or curtains is also suitable. Such a cabinet is very practical and functional, it can be made according to individual sizes. Built-in furniture with sliding doors is very roomy and fits perfectly into the design of a narrow space.

If the corridor is long, then good decision there will be a long shelf for shoes and a small square pouffe for changing shoes, which will enliven the interior. Mezzanines will fit perfectly into the design of a long narrow hallway. Add volume will help mirrors .

An extraordinary design is obtained by placing two large mirrors opposite each other. If possible, it is advisable to build functional niches of various shapes with shelves and lamps in the walls. This will add spice to the interior of the hallway.

It is not recommended to use bulky hanging chandeliers. The best option would be several lamps. the angle of the light direction in which you can change. It is desirable that the lighting in long narrow hallways be located along the entire length, as on the ceiling. as well as on the walls. They also arrange lamps in the floor, on the side or on top of mirrors and in furniture.

The design of a narrow hallway should provide for a convenient location of switches. Design at least two switches. one at the entrance to turn on the light when you enter, and the other at the end of the hallway to turn off the lights.

Comfortable for long narrow corridors "smart" lamps with sound and heat sensors. They run on batteries, do not require capital installation and light up when a person approaches, and then turn off by themselves. An interesting option for a narrow hallway - paintings-lamps. Such an accessory will give the interior brightness, and the walls - volume.

Traditionally narrow corridors are a sort of transshipment point to other rooms in the apartment. Therefore, a large number of doors are traditionally located here. Well, if the doors do not open towards the corridor.

If unable to install hinged doors, opening towards the rooms, you need to think about sliding systems. Door models are chosen transparent with glass or mirror inserts. Openings to the kitchen and living room can generally be arranged without door panels.

Can't litter narrow hallways, as well as the rest of the premises in the apartment, a lot of unnecessary things will not add volume to the corridor. For small things, special pockets, shelves, additional hooks and containers for small things should be provided.

Design of an apartment in a panel house: how to make it interesting and convenient

Those who are lucky enough to get an apartment in a typical high-rise building, or those who not so long ago became the owner of a panel two-room apartment, three-room apartment or one-room apartment, are sure to think about repairs. And the question arises, what design of an apartment in a panel house to come up with or choose. Fantasy, of course, is in full swing: how to make an apartment cozy, beautiful and functional.

AT brick house everything is simpler: the wall can be moved or part of it can be disassembled, combining the kitchen and living room. In a panel house, this option is associated with certain difficulties. The wall is almost monolithic. However, do not despair.

Modern technologies in construction and finishing works, a variety of finishing materials, furniture, decor items, curtains and lamps allow you to create real miracles. Let's see what can be done with apartments in panel houses.

  1. Style. For apartments in panel houses, interiors in the style of minimalism are most suitable. light coloured ethnic style, country. The rooms should have a lot of light and space.
  2. litter the apartment. If there is a cottage or a garage - all unnecessary things go there. If there is nowhere to put it, and things are good, but completely unnecessary, give them to charity.
  3. Hallway. Use compact furniture: ottoman-cabinet, wardrobe, dressing table + shoe cabinet (galoshes). You will see how much space will be freed up!
  4. The corridor. Even if the corridor is long and narrow, it can also be functionally used. Low and shallow cabinets along the wall will become a repository of various small things: from umbrellas to fishing rods. And a wardrobe with mirrored doors or an open bookcase will not weigh down the space at all.
  5. bathroom. Combined toilet and bathroom. you can turn an ordinary cramped bathroom into a luxurious and spacious hygiene room. It will fit a corner bath, a sink, a cabinet for textiles and household chemicals and washing machine. It is desirable to make the room in light colors, then the space will visually appear larger - a light floor, glossy tiles, glossy stretch ceilings, mirrors.
  6. color scheme for small rooms it is better to choose light: for the south side of cold shades, for the north side of warm ones. Visually expand the space, raise the ceilings will help glossy surfaces - tiles, stretch ceilings, mirrors, glass.
  7. Balcony, loggia- use them. These premises are not a warehouse of unnecessary things, but full-fledged rooms. On the balcony you can make an office or a winter garden, and turn the loggia into a bedroom.

Design of a one-room apartment in a panel house

This design is probably one of the most challenging tasks. After all, one room should serve as a living room. and an office, and a bedroom, and a dining room. That is why you need to use every meter of the area of the apartment.

Let's start with the kitchen. The kitchen in a panel house, and even more so in a one-room apartment, is tiny. It can hardly fit a hob and work surface, a sink and a small dinette. The refrigerator also has to be taken out into the corridor, where it is cramped even without it.

To increase the comfort of the kitchen, it can be combined with the living room, the dining area can be taken out into the room or placed on the border of the wall that once stood. Then the kitchen frees up space for the refrigerator. The wall can be demolished completely or partially cut out, but only if it is not load-bearing.

Alternatively, you can make a small opening in which you can put a table on wheels. In this case, you can have lunch or dinner both in the kitchen and in the room by rolling the table. A small kitchen will only benefit if you use the height of the walls. Lockers can be shallow, but up to the ceiling. What to hide in the upper cabinets, each housewife will decide for herself.

We pass into the room. The design of a one-room apartment in a panel house is a test of professionalism and the ability to withstand a critical situation. There is so much to fit in one room. If the area of the room allows, you can put a plaster partition, thus separating the sleeping area or office from the guest area.

And so that the wall is not empty - hang a flat TV panel on it. You can also select an office large aquarium is a very interesting solution. You can zone a room in a less radical way: multi-level lighting, a combination of different types, colors, wallpaper textures, paints, carpets, textiles.

In order not to clutter up the room, prefer roller blinds or Roman blinds to ordinary curtains, and a corner sofa or a soft corner from separate pouffes to an ordinary sofa. As an additional seat use a bean bag chair - it's comfortable and unusual.

Design of a two- and three-room apartment in a panel house

When choosing the design of an apartment in a panel house, consider how many people are in the family, which side the windows of the apartment face, what you want to get in the end.

An apartment with two or more rooms is a pleasure to plan and re-plan. If the family consists of two people, the design of a two-room apartment in a panel house is tailored to their needs. One room is usually allocated as a bedroom. It can be finished in any style: from classical style to African. The second room can simultaneously serve as a living room, dining room and office. By applying well-known principles, you can completely separate the office or only visually draw a border.
