Wooden flowerpot with your own hands. Do-it-yourself outdoor flowerpots for flowers: we decorate the cottage, balcony, terrace. Flowerpot from a plastic bottle - video

The convenience of growing flowers in outdoor flowerpots lies in the fact that they can be transferred to different places. For everybody flower plant need their own growing conditions. Some need more sun, others shade or partial shade.

Manufactured flowerpots have a variety of shapes and sizes. A large number of colors. Depending on the design of the territory, they are standing on the ground, suspended or on struts. Flowerpots look good in cottages and garden plots. They accentuate the curbs of the tracks.

You can make outdoor flowerpots for flowers with your own hands from improvised materials:

  1. 1 Clay. In its natural state, it is a very plastic substance, so the product is easily given any shape. In the fired state, clay remains a natural material, therefore it has porosity. The root system is constantly enriched with oxygen. If glaze is applied on the outside, these properties are lost.
  2. 2 Stone. They are easy to embody any design ideas. Often they are large in size with a three-dimensional ornament. The manufacturing process is very expensive, so the products are made piece by piece. The advantages, in addition to decorativeness and durability, include moisture resistance.
  3. 3 wooden. Natural wood, impregnated with an antiseptic, fits well into any design. Plants in wooden flowerpots are often placed in cottages. They, like stone, hold moisture well.
  4. 4 metal. Such containers are made of cast iron, brass or zinc. They have a number of disadvantages. The surface must be painted, because non-ferrous metal oxidizes in air. Plants need constant watering. metal containers should not be left in the sun for a long time. The root system will burn.
  5. 5 Concrete. Compared to stone products, they cost much less. The soil retains moisture well. Concrete has a low thermal conductivity, therefore, in hot weather root system does not overheat. Flowerpots are made of considerable dimensions and occupy the garden area large area. Externally, they look solid.
  6. 6 Plastic. They have high frost resistance. They are planted with perennials. garden plants. Temperature range - +50...-40 degrees.

Manufacturing

A lot of improvised material that is available can be used to make flowerpots. Pots are obtained from car tires, old barrels, canisters or jugs.

Then you can create various compositions from several flowerpots. For exterior decoration, use pebbles, shells or broken glass.

Clay

The clay solution is rolled out in the form of a pancake, and a circle of the required diameter is cut out. Then you need to make a series of clay bundles. Their diameter is 0.5 cm. The length of the bundle is equal to the perimeter of the circle. It is superimposed on the base along the outer cut and attached to it. Then the next tourniquet is taken and attached to the previous one. Gradually, a pot is formed. If you want to narrow the neck, then the length of the next tourniquet is reduced.

The second stage is annealing. At the first stage, moisture evaporates within 2-3 hours. Gradually the temperature rises to 300 degrees. In the second stage, the degrees increase to 580 for 15 minutes. last stage rise for 15 minutes to 900. After that, the degrees drop to room temperature.

It remains only to decorate it. This can be done with painting.

from wood

Stumps are used to make flowerpots from wood. They fit beautifully into the landscape of the garden. The best option a birch stump with a diameter of 40 cm is considered. Top part cut off until a smooth surface is obtained. A circle is drawn inside the stump. Its diameter is 20 cm smaller than the diameter of the stump. Holes of 7-8 cm are drilled along the perimeter as close as possible, to a depth of 10 cm. Then the core is selected with a chisel.

The bark of the stump must not be touched. Otherwise, the flowerpot will not look natural.

Drainage holes are drilled inside, and the soil is filled up. The pot for planting flowers is ready.

From tires

They are made from old car tires. To do this, the tire is placed on a flat surface and sharp knife a wavy line is cut on the side. It can be arranged in the form of petals. To facilitate the work, the knife is wetted in soapy water. As a tool, you can use a jigsaw.

With effort, the tire is turned out. The vase is ready. It is only necessary to give the slices the perfect shape. For this you can use grinder. Outside, the tire is degreased and painted.

Concrete

Such products are not inferior to stone flowerpots. Materials are prepared in advance:

  • A mortar of sand and cement.
  • Sunflower oil.
  • 2 containers, you can buckets. One is large and the other is slightly smaller.
  • A few pieces of plastic tube 5 cm long.

Production order:

  1. 1 Prepare the solution. 2 parts of cement and 3 sand are mixed. Dye may be added.
  2. 2 The inner surface of a larger container is treated with vegetable oil. Then the outer surface is smaller.
  3. 3 A solution 2 cm thick is placed at the bottom of a larger bucket. Drainage tubes are immediately inserted. They are located closer to the center.
  4. 4 The smaller bucket is inserted into the larger one, covering all the tubes. Filled in between cement mortar.
  5. 5 After drying, after a day, the smaller form is removed.
  6. 6 A large structure is sprayed with water and wrapped for a week in a film to dry.
  7. 7 After 7 days, the frozen form is knocked out.

When knocking out the form with a hammer, gentle tapping is carried out.

From cement and fabric

To make a flowerpot from fabric and cement, you need to have rubber gloves, cement and an old bucket. The earth is covered with a film and a bucket is placed upside down on it. To try on, a rag is thrown on top of it.

The cement mortar is diluted and the material is dipped into it. The outer surface of the bucket is lubricated vegetable oil.

The rag soaked in the solution is thrown over the bucket. At this point, she needs to give the desired shape. Drying takes 3 days. The structure is constantly sprayed with water. Then the bucket is removed, the rest continues to dry for a week under a canopy. To reduce porosity, the vase is coated with a primer and painted with an acrylic composition.

Made of plastic with wood trim

When using a plastic container, to avoid smudges, it is glued on the outside with wooden planks. Previously, the tree is dried and treated with an antiseptic.

With the help of universal glue, the strips are glued to the side surface of the plastic. The narrower they are, the tighter the container is. Flowerpots serve for a long time, do not dry out and do not swell.

From plastic pipes

If in plastic pipes make plugs, pour earth into them and plant flowers, then they turn into convenient flowerpots. They can be hung on the side of the house.

Any non-professional can do the job. Beautiful flowers and white fasteners will give the room a completely different look.

Flowerpots from plastic pipes

To beautifully equip a summer house or a garden, flower vases are an irreplaceable thing. Make them really with your own hands. Most importantly, when minimal cost. Be sure to find a worthless tire or old buckets on a suburban area. With minor additional investments, the territory will take on a completely different look.

Do you love flowers very much? fertile land little house? Nothing, there is a way out. We will learn to do outdoor flowerpots, and lack free space will not become an obstacle to the realization of your fantastic ideas.

Flowerpots for the street - in harmony with the site

Outdoor flowerpots should look harmonious. Their shape plays an important role: in one version, strict geometric outlines look good, in the other, unusual, extravagant ones. Even beautiful flowers in inexpressive dishes do not attract the eye.

Dimensions are selected according to the size of the site. A small area requires flowerpots of the same size. A large container in such a situation looks bulky, intrusive, it dominates the space. There is no feeling of comfort and harmony. Small pots in a sufficiently large space will get lost, become inconspicuous. You need to find the right ratio.

Outdoor flowerpots of large sizes are installed directly on the ground of the site where there is more free space. In cramped courtyards, especially urban ones, where every centimeter is taken into account, it is more convenient to place flowers in small hanging pots, or on inconspicuous stands. Entrance groups colors are placed, depending on the size, on stands, pedestals, right on the ground.

In pursuit of beauty, manufacturers of street flowerpots sometimes decorate them so that the flowers remain invisible. We should not forget that the main thing in the picture is not the frame. Of course, containers for plants should be beautiful, attract attention, but should not be intrusive. They only emphasize the beauty of flowers. Therefore, white, beige, cream, terracotta, brown, pastel, delicate shades are preferable for flowerpots.

Wood - simple and affordable for use

Wood for the street is not very suitable: rain and snow reduce its life, but it is available and easy to work with. Without protective treatment the surface will soon turn gray and begin to rot. It is better not to use paint, but to use stain, which will show the texture of wood, emphasize its beauty. After staining, we cover the product clear varnish.

From lumber, boards and beams are used. We cut the blanks of the required length and put together a box from them. From contact with the ground wooden box will soon start to rot. To prevent this from happening, we raise it on legs. The simplest option is four boards in the corners. If there is imagination and skills, we make them figured. We don’t fit the boards very tightly: on the street they will begin to swell, expand, but also large cracks we do not leave the earth not to wake up.

If slats are used as a frame, they serve as legs at the same time. We cut off four identical pieces, to which we attach the side boards and the bottom. So that the nails do not split the wood, we drill holes 1-2 mm narrower than their diameter at the place of attachment. Instead of boards, you can use thick moisture-resistant plywood. Fasten everything better with self-tapping screws. Under them, we also drill holes in plywood and slats at the same time, stepping back from the edge of 1 cm. Beautiful legs come out metal corners especially stainless steel.

If you have a 6x6 timber or so, you can make beautiful flowerpots out of it. Their dimensions depend on the strength of the rails. For example, the desired height is 8 bars: 48 cm. Length - 1.5 m, width - 0.6 m. We cut 16 long bars of different lengths: 8 by 1.5 meters, 8 more minus the double thickness of the bars - 150- 16 \u003d 138 cm. Short ones are cut off according to the same principle - 8 by 60 cm, another 8 - by 48 cm.

We lay two long beams of 1.5 m each on a flat area, between them - two short ones of 48 cm each, check the presence right angle. On top of the bars we fix the bottom. If it is made of waterproof plywood, a dozen self-tapping screws are required, if from boards, we screw each one or nail it. As in the previous case, we drill holes for screws and nails. Turn it upside down and continue working.

We build up the design. We lay out the next 4 bars in a different way: longitudinal - those that are shorter, lateral - those that are longer. We fasten them in the corners to those bars below. We additionally strengthen the long sides in the middle with one or two nails. We lay out the third row like the first and then alternate the arrangement of the bars until we reach the top. All wooden flowerpots can be combined in one design with a bench. Install it in any suitable place garden or at the entrance.

Regardless of the material and size of the flowerpots, do not forget about the drainage holes in the bottom: we make one or more, focusing on the size of the container.

Stumps and decks - a little imagination does not hurt

Stumps and trunks remain on the site from old trees, which can be put into action. It is not necessary to uproot the stumps: if they do not interfere, we plant flowers in them. Align the top with a chainsaw, outline the contours of the container. We take an electric drill with a pen drill, drill holes in diameter and in the middle. A depth of up to 20 cm is enough. Then a hammer and a chisel come into play, with which we destroy the walls. We clean inside, we fall asleep the earth.

We cut logs from the trunk various lengths: for vertical installation - up to 40 cm, for horizontal installation - at your discretion. In cropped for vertical installation stumps choose the middle, as in the previous case. With a long deck laid on the ground, it will be more difficult. We outline the contours and make longitudinal and lateral cuts with a saw. Next - a drill, a chisel. We carefully treat the internal cavity with an antiseptic using a paint brush.

If there is a half-rotted trunk, we use it for a flowerpot. We cut to length and select the core using the previous technology. It is easier to work with such a trunk than with a living tree. It starts to rot from the middle, and the sidewall is still strong enough. To extend the life of a half-decayed trunk, we treat the inner cavity with machine oil or special oil for wood. We do not remove the bark on flowerpots from stumps and trunks, with it they are much more beautiful.

Old barrel - an amazing transformation

If there is an old wooden barrel, this is an almost finished flowerpot. Cut across - you get two containers for flowers. If you need a bottom, cut it out of waterproof plywood. Perhaps another hoop is needed to strengthen it. We make it from a steel strip, grab it by welding and stuff it onto a barrel. It is important not to make a mistake with the diameter.

We perform a longitudinal section using one of the methods proposed below, but in any case, the boards will have to be further strengthened. You can cut the barrel into two equal parts. In order to fasten them together later, we first cut out two circles from thick plywood along the diameter of the bottom. We cut each circle in two, use it to connect the cooper's staves - the boards that make up the barrel. They are fitted to each other, so before disassembling the barrel, we number each plank. We fasten them with self-tapping screws to plywood semicircles. We cut the hoops in half and also screw them to the boards with screws. They will slightly strengthen the structure and at the same time perform a decorative function.

Another option: we cut out several boards in the barrel, but not completely, but stepping back from each edge not far from the hoops or next to them on the side that faces the middle. Cut boards should be reinforced. We screw them to the bottom, but this is not enough. We fasten to the hoops: it is enough to drill holes in them and tighten the rivets with self-tapping screws. If a cooper's barrel no, we do something similar. Cut out two semicircles, attach thin narrow boards or slats, and also additionally fix to the hoops. The main thing here is to fit the boards well.

If the wood is alive, it is enough to cover it with an antiseptic, stain and varnish. We pre-treat old boards sandpaper. We clean rusty hoops from rust - we remove only delaminations. Then cover with a layer of engine oil or clear varnish.

Plastic - is it easy to work with?

In construction, sheet foam is widely used, from which wonderful flowerpots are obtained. We take scraps of dense foam or buy it. When planning the dimensions, remember that the foam is not very strong: a high and voluminous structure will not withstand the weight of the earth and flowers. It is better to use a special construction knife with changing blades: they are narrow and sharp. We glue the finished parts together.

Next, we strengthen the structure. Cut from plaster construction mesh(non-metal) pieces on the inside and external dimensions with a slight overhang. We stir the purchased building mix, apply the mesh to the surface and apply a layer of plaster to stick the mesh to the foam. When it seizes, we level it with sandpaper and again apply a layer of plaster. We process the dried layer with sandpaper.
The foam product resembles concrete in appearance. You can leave it like that, or you can paint or apply drawings. From the outside, decorative elements can be applied. We cut out various figures (geometric or others) from the foam plastic and glue them even before reinforcing the mesh. You can add dyes to the finished mixture or buy with the ones already in it.

Concrete flowerpots - we make a form and prepare the fill

Durable and beautiful flowerpots are made of concrete. To fill it in, a form is required. It is made from any materials: boards, plywood, tin, fibreboard, cardboard. A form that is deteriorating from moisture must be protected. We glue the cardboard with adhesive tape, put the film in the form of fiberboard or also glue it. It is important that the structure withstand 4–5 hours, then moisture will no longer be released from the solution. It makes no sense to make a large shape out of cardboard: it will not withstand the pressure concrete mortar on the walls.

fit various capacities from plastic and metal. Since two forms are needed for pouring (external and internal), we select them from different sizes: big and small. Well, if they are similar, they differ only in size, but this is not necessary. For the inside, we use any dishes that are slightly smaller.

We make the solution ourselves from pure river sand and cement in a ratio of 1: 3. Finished products will come out a little rough and gray. If desired, add to the solution coloring pigment. It is better to buy ready-made mixtures, known as decorative, architectural, artistic concrete, acrylic, polymer, art. They contain polymer or stone additives, and some contain dyes. Surfaces come out even, smooth, attractive, thanks to inclusions. The photo below shows some types of architectural concrete.

Filling the solution - sequential steps

Before stirring the mixture, prepare the form. So that it can then be separated from it concrete product, lubricate them with machine oil: the outer form from the inside, the inner one from the outside. Don't forget about drainage. In the forms we make holes into which we insert pipe segments. To remove them later, also lubricate with oil. Knead by gradually adding water. We achieve such a consistency that it does not fly off the shoulder blade, but it is not too thick, like plasticine.

Let's start filling:

  1. 1. Pour a layer of mortar of the required thickness onto the bottom, put the inner mold on it. If it is light, we make it heavier - we fill it with sand.
  2. 2. Gradually fill the space between the walls. To spread the mixture in a uniform layer without air voids, we use a steel rod and a hammer.
  3. 3. We insert the rod to the bottom and swing it to the sides: air leaves the solution, it settles. But if the material allows, at the same time we tap on the walls with a hammer.
  4. 4. Filling out the form completely, align the top. Cover with foil and leave overnight.

Remove the film the next day. If the cast products are small and not too heavy, dip them completely into a container of water and leave for at least a week. If this is not possible, moisten abundantly with water three to four times a day until dark and cover with a film. After a week, the concrete will completely set. To make it strong, in addition to a good solution, we select a place for manufacturing in the shade, closed from sun rays. The air temperature should not be below 5 °, the best is 20 °.

To increase the strength of concrete, especially large-sized products, we use reinforcement of the bottom and walls with steel wire or metal plaster mesh.

You can leave the flowerpots as they are, especially from decorative concrete. Gray sand products are best decorated. Use pebbles, mosaics or pieces ceramic tiles. Apply tile adhesive and press in the finish. Remaining glue is immediately removed.

Car tires - how does the unnecessary serve beauty?

Original outdoor flowerpots come out of old tires that have become unusable. We use winter non-studded tires, it is softer and more pliable. The disk will also come in handy for the stand. You will need a sharp, strong knife, a jigsaw and soapy water. We draw the outline of the drawing - a line of any shape. If it is curly, we draw each fragment the same size to come out nice and neat.

Cut off the top side with a knife. For curly parts, it is better to use a jigsaw. So that the knife and jigsaw file do not jam, we moisten them with soapy water. Then we lay the tire with the cut down, the disk is inside, and we begin to turn the rubber inside out. The work is hard, but as you progress it gets easier. We process the cuts with a grinder to give them the perfect shape.

Wash the rubber, let it dry, degrease and cover with a primer. Then we paint with oil or enamel nitro paint. Fits good car paint in spray cans, one is enough for several tires. We paint not only from the outside, but also from the inside. We paint as fantasy tells: monophonically, in several colors, or we apply various patterns under the stencil.

These are far from all the ways to make flowerpots with your own hands from simple and available materials. Everything that is at hand can be used: old records, plastic bottles, shoes, buckets and the like. A little paint decorative elements- and old thing will be transformed.

Landscaping is a very exciting activity, although not always easy. It is especially interesting to create decorative elements for your garden or adjoining territory. Original handmade flowerpots are the simplest, but very effective way to decorate the landscape. You can make them from car tires, concrete, stumps, and even from old dishes.

Any tires are suitable for making flowerpots, but it is easier to cut winter non-studded tires, which have soft pliable rubber. The tire should be with a rim, which serves as a stand for the flowerpot.

For work you will need:

  • grinder;
  • very sharp knife;
  • pencil or piece of chalk;
  • soap solution;
  • primer;
  • dye;
  • paint brush.

Step 1. Markup

They take the tire, clean it of dirt and lay it flat on a flat surface. Around metal disk with a pencil or chalk mark the cut line of the side part. The line can be even, wavy, zigzag - as fantasy tells. If the cut is curly, all the protrusions must have the same shape and size, otherwise the edging of the flowerpot will look messy.

Step 2. Cutting along the contour

Now, along the drawn line, you need to cut off the upper sidewall of the tire. To facilitate the cutting process, the knife should be periodically moistened with soapy water. To cut a figured contour, it is better to use an electric jigsaw, the blade of which must also be dipped in soapy water.

Step 3: Turning the tire inside out

The tire is turned upside down, the foot is stepped on the rim, a small section of rubber is pryed on the cut and the product is turned inside out. It will require considerable physical effort, but the more the tire turns out, the easier the process goes.

Step 4. Slicing

The flowerpot is almost ready, it remains to give the ideal shape to the slices and decorate it from the outside. Curly edging can be made in the form of sharp or rounded petals, fringe, triangles, using the same knife. After that, it is recommended that the sections be processed with a grinder to make the edges perfectly smooth.

Step 5. Decorating the flowerpot

The outer surface of the flowerpot is cleaned of dust, degreased and coated with a primer. When the rubber dries, you can start painting. There are a lot of options here: you can make the flowerpot monophonic, two-color, striped, draw ornaments or flowers on it, decorate the flowerpot itself in the form of a flower. Nitro paints, oil and enamel paints, as well as automotive paints in spray cans are excellent for coloring rubber. It is also recommended to paint the inside of the edging, as it is clearly visible from the side.

Step 6. Filling the flowerpot

The finished flowerpot is installed on permanent place, a dense agrofabric is laid at the bottom, a layer of sand is poured for drainage and the container is filled with fertile soil. After that, you can plant flowers and admire the work of your own hands.

There are other options for such flowerpots. For example, you can use the tire itself, without rim, and use an empty car ramp of a smaller size as a stand. Vases look nice different diameter installed on top of each other, as well as hanging products from figuratively carved slopes.

Making flowerpots out of concrete with your own hands is also easy. Purchased plastic molds are used for pouring, as well as carton boxes, wicker baskets, old bowls, buckets or basins.

For work you will need:

  • cement and sand;
  • container for mixing the solution;
  • two forms of different sizes;
  • plastic tube with a diameter of 1.5-2 cm and a length of 20 cm;
  • spray gun or brush;
  • vegetable oil;
  • water.

As forms, 2 plastic bowls of different diameters are used here.

Step 1. Mixing the solution

2 parts of cement and 3 parts of pure sand are poured into the container, mixed and water is gradually poured in. Thoroughly stir the solution so that no lumps remain. To make the flowerpot more decorative, a coloring pigment for concrete can be added to the solution. Ready mix should be homogeneous and moderately thick.

Step 2. Form preparation

A larger bowl is coated with vegetable oil on the inside, and the other on the outside. The plastic tube is cut into 4 pieces 5 cm long.

Step 3. Filling the solution

Pouring concrete into a mold

A layer of solution 2-3 cm thick is poured onto the bottom of a large bowl, and then pieces of a tube are inserted into it closer to the center of the container. When the solution noticeably seizes, a smaller bowl is placed in a large container, on top of the tubes, and the space between the walls is filled with the remaining solution. To prevent the bowl from moving when pouring, a stone or brick is placed in it. The top of the solution is leveled with a trowel and the structure is left for a day.

After a day, the inner container is carefully removed so as not to damage the edges of the future flowerpot, moistened with water and wrapped with a film. During the week, the flowerpot should be periodically moistened and closed from direct sunlight. After a week, the container with concrete is opened, turned over, carefully knocked out of the mold.

If there are no suitable bowls for making a flowerpot, you can use two cardboard boxes:

  • the seams on both boxes are reinforced with adhesive tape;
  • cut out the bottom in a smaller box;
  • clean sand is poured into the bottom of a large box with a thin layer;
  • pour part of the solution to a height of 2-3 cm;
  • a box without a bottom is installed on top;
  • the space between the walls of the boxes is filled with a solution;
  • after 7 days, the boxes are removed, and the bottom of the flowerpot is drilled for drainage.

Similarly, concrete flowerpots are made in old buckets, wicker baskets and any other containers. To give concrete surface interesting texture, you can lay out the walls of the form with embossed leaves, flowers, thin spruce branches. After staining, such products look just great.

Such flowerpots look very natural and harmonious in any garden. For their manufacture, even stumps or saw cuts with a diameter of up to 40 cm are best suited. Birch stumps are considered the most decorative.

In the process of work you will need:

  • Circular Saw;
  • pencil;
  • drill;
  • chisel;

Step 1. Treatment of the stump

The top of the stump is cut off with a saw to get a clean, smooth surface. The bark should stay in place, so the flowerpot will look more natural. A circle is marked on the cut, departing from the edges by about 7-8 cm. Holes up to 10 cm deep are drilled around the perimeter of the marking, and then the core of the stump is knocked out with a chisel.

Step 2. Preparing the base

The walls of the stump are leveled vertically, all the chips are selected, the bottom is compacted. Then several drainage holes are drilled at the base.

Step 3. Filling the flowerpot

Fertile soil is poured inside a homemade flowerpot, slightly compacted and left for several days. During this time, the earth will settle a little more, so you have to add it. After filling, you can plant flowers. To prolong the life of such a flowerpot, it is recommended not to fill the stump itself with soil, but any suitable container that can be installed there.

If there is an unnecessary old barrel, it will make an excellent flowerpot. To make it, you need quite a bit:

  • a sheet of thick plywood;
  • electric drill;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • Circular Saw;
  • primer or used oil;

First, a circle is cut out of plywood along the diameter of the bottom of the barrel. The barrel itself is cut in height to the desired size, if necessary, the walls are strengthened with an additional hoop. Treat the barrel with an antiseptic primer or mining to protect it from decay. Plywood is also impregnated protective composition, after which they are screwed from the outside to the bottom of the barrel. Next, the bottom is drilled along with plywood in several places to provide drainage. Now it remains only to paint the flowerpot on the outside and fill it with earth.

So that such a large flowerpot can be easily moved, small wheels on metal brackets are attached to the bottom. They are bolted to plywood; for normal stability on one flowerpot, three wheels located on equal distance from each other.

These and other options for homemade flowerpots will not require high costs, because they are made from unnecessary things that are on each site. If you try and show imagination, you can make a work of art out of any object.

Do-it-yourself flowerpot from a stump

To make a street flowerpot from a stump with your own hands, you first need to pick up suitable tree. It can be a thick base of the trunk or a small snag. The decorativeness of the flowerpot depends on the shape of the tree and the texture of its surface.

They start making a flowerpot with their own hands with a definition sizes. Optimal height is forty centimeters. The excess is cut off with a chainsaw. In this case, an even cut is obtained and the bark, which adorns the surface of the future flowerpot, is not damaged.

A circle is marked on the surface of the hemp. Internal content drilled out using a cone-shaped drill. First, holes are made ten centimeters deep around the entire perimeter, then the wood is knocked out with a mechanical chisel and the walls are finished with an ordinary chisel.

The inner surface of such a garden flowerpot is processed wood stain. To do this, the composition is poured into a small glass and paint brush applied to all surfaces of the product, trying not to leave unpainted areas. Additionally, you can use various decorative elements.

The resulting chumps we nail to the dried and processed bottom. For it, you can use a cut that is suitable in diameter. Between themselves, parts of one circle are connected with a construction stapler from the inside. The next row is placed so that the seams are constantly shifting. Between themselves, the rows are also connected with a stapler.

From cement with the addition of other components, you can make both large flowerpots for flowers with your own hands, and relatively small ones.

To make a large flowerpot you will need plastic mold with parameters 53 cm in diameter and 23 cm in height.

Solution we make from two parts of white cement, one part of perlite (agroperlite) and two parts of high-moor peat. As a measuring container, you can take a one and a half liter bucket. A mixture of three components is diluted with water until a mass of thick consistency is obtained.

do-it-yourself flowerpots for giving from cement. A photo

Since such a flowerpot will be quite heavy, it is better to make it immediately in a permanent place.

To make a flowerpot out of cement with your own hands, we take plastic pot, which is a form, and line it with a thin film. Cellophane must be straightened so that incomprehensible folds are not printed on the surface.

First, put the solution on the bottom. The thickness of the layer should be approximately four or five centimeters. To control the thickness, matches or toothpicks are great.

To increase the strength of such a large product, you can install metal wire frame or other reinforcing structure. You can add about a handful of crushed fiberglass to it to strengthen the composition. Since the flowerpot is large enough, and knead large volumes cement composition hands is difficult, then you have to do it fractionally. It will take about four or five batches.

Do not forget when making garden flowerpots with your own hands and about drainage hole. It is made by laying a cork wrapped in a film on the bottom.

Can this pot be made colorful. To do this, the cement mixture is divided into parts. They add different dyes. A multi-colored mixture is placed alternately on the inner surface, which makes the finished container motley.

After the entire surface is lined with a mixture, the product is closed cellophane film and leave for about ten days. During this time, the cement mixture will harden and gain strength. If the product dries out too quickly, then it will need to be moistened.

Readiness is checked after eight days. To do this, tap on the surface of the cement. If the sound is not deaf, then the flowerpot is removed from the mold along with the film.

After brushing, the flowerpot is washed with water and slightly dried. Next, his words are wrapped in a film so that the mixture continues to harden.

After about a week or two, the material will take on a lighter shade. This is a sign that it is time to remove the film, and put the flowerpot in its final place.

small cement vases

From such cement mixture You can also make small flowerpots with your own hands. They take any form. It can be old fruit vases, flower pots and buckets, basins and dishes. The manufacturing technology is the same as for a large flowerpot.

Flowerpot on a leg with a figured surface

To make such a flowerpot with your own hands, use a mixture of the following components. Take one part of gray cement, one part of vermiculite and two parts of high-moor peat.

Wire is taken as the basis fan frame and a five-liter plastic bottle, which is cut at the desired height.

The frame from the fan is lined with a film. It will take three layers so that the mixture does not squeeze between the rods too much. After the mixture hardens, you get the original carved surface. It just needs to be processed a little. wire brush and a do-it-yourself cement flowerpot is almost ready.

Flowerpots from car tires. Instruction step by step

For decoration personal plot can be used practically waste materials, for example, old car tires. To make flowerpots from tires with your own hands, you should choose the source material of the right size. Winter non-studded tires, which are softer and thinner, are best suited for creating carved products.

flowerpots from tires with their own hands. A photo

Consider how to make a pot of tires with your own hands, similar to a flower. To do this, first draw a contour on the side of the tire with chalk.

When the petals are cut into the tire, small longitudinal cuts are made. They are at a distance of five or ten centimeters from each other and facilitate the process of eversion of the tire.

It is not easy to unscrew the product. This requires physical effort, but after even a small section is turned out, the process accelerates.

After that, it remains only to decorate the finished product. There are other options for making flowerpots from tires with your own hands.

Do-it-yourself flowerpot for a garden from a plastic barrel

From a large barrel of one hundred and fifty liters, two containers can be obtained at once. To do this, in the middle of the barrel, mark the place of the cut, along which they are sawn into two parts. jigsaw.

The edges handle special tool so that there are no burrs.

Outside, two are attached to the bottom bar to make the pot easier to move.

The resulting workpiece is sheathed wooden planks. They can be placed end to end or overlapped.

Nails are hammered with a special gun. From the inside they are bent with a hammer.

Top rim made from boards connected at an angle. Attach it with nails and glue.

Wood finishes can be varnished or painted suitable color. The flowerpot is ready, you can plant flowers in it.

Flowerpots made of silicate blocks with several tiers

This design option looks impressive and makes even the most familiar plants unusual.

The cavities inside the blocks are great for planting and growing plants. Some manufacturers even began to produce special hollow elements for landscape design.

To make outdoor flowerpots from silicate blocks with your own hands, you should think over the design so that it is stable and has enough space for plants. Next, the necessary material is acquired.

The blocks should have drainage, to get rid of excess water. The base is chosen strong enough.

The base is glued to the bottom of the silicate blocks. Then, a structure is assembled from the resulting elements. Blocks are interconnected with glue.

Gradually building tiers, it is necessary to fill the lower ones with earth.

Small vases from sticks

Required to work thin sticks, for example, from ice cream. They are glued to wood. bars.

By repeating the processes, three more sides are made.

Then the sticks are glued on top on both sides.

The surface of the resulting container is ground and painted.

It turns out a small flowerpot in which a container with flowers is placed.

Do-it-yourself polystyrene flowerpot

Styrofoam is a common material and people are often interested in how to make a flowerpot with their own hands from it.

First, cut out rectangular blanks for walls that are connected with glue with self-tapping screws. The container is then covered plaster mixture in several layers with reinforcement plastic mesh. When the mixture dries, the surface is cleaned of irregularities. The next step is painting. After that, the final layer is applied decorative plaster. The product looks like it is cast from concrete.

A vase from a pallet. Master Class

You can make a garden flowerpot with your own hands from wooden pallet. To do this, it is carefully disassembled into boards.

All boards with a length of 80 cm are cut in half. The boards are 120 cm long, we mark them into three parts of 38 cm each and cut them, making a beveled cut at an angle of thirty degrees.

We connect boards with oblique cuts using self-tapping screws. It turns out a hexagon. We attach a leg to each of its boards.

Similarly, we assemble the second hexagon.

We collect the bottom of the flowerpot. To do this, we attach a transverse board between the legs. We lay the bottom boards on it and fasten them to the edges of the hexagon with self-tapping screws.

It turns out solid construction which should be treated with an antiseptic. You can decorate it in any way.

Decorating a yard, garden or cottage is a fascinating and lengthy business, and it also requires decent material costs. To save money, many things to decorate the garden / plot can be done by hand. This time we will talk about how to make outdoor flowerpots. Let's take a closer look at the manufacturing process of two materials - wood and concrete. These are the most plastic inexpensive materials from which you can make very good things.

Wooden flowerpots

Wood may or may not the best choice for the manufacture of outdoor flowerpots, but very affordable, plastic, easy to process. That's probably why it's popular. Wooden outdoor flowerpots can be made from scrap boards, moisture-resistant plywood, timber, tree trunks, stumps, old barrels and tubs.

From boards and plywood

If you want the flowerpot to retain its color for a long time and not turn gray, but you don’t want to paint it with some kind of opaque paint (such as oil paint), you will need to buy wood oil. It gives the wood a shade, but leaves visible pores (like a stain). Along the way, this oil, as it were, “preserves” it, protects it from fungi, insects, and mold.

The easiest way to make flower vases is from rectangular or square boards. It is necessary to cut several pieces of the same length, put together a box from them, nail the bottom.

So that the bottom of such a flowerpot does not bloom, it must be raised on its legs. In the very simple version to the bottom, in the corners, you can nail four small pieces of the board. There is a desire - you can try to make more decorative legs (as in the photo above).

When nailing boards, do not try to knock down the planks very tightly. When watered, they will swell and, if they are nailed close, they can rise. However, you should not leave very large gaps - the earth can wake up through the bottom.

Another way to make an outdoor flower pot out of wood is to cut four identical pieces of timber with a small section of 25-25 mm, for example). Use the bars as the ribs of the structure, nail the boards to them, attach the bottom from below. This option is good because such flowerpots immediately have legs.

By the same principle, you can make a flowerpot from moisture-resistant plywood. Cut out the sides from it, attach them to the bars. Instead of nails, wood screws are usually used, and a drill will also be needed. Before screwing the screw, drill a hole. Attach the sidewall to the bar rack, drill, stepping back 1 cm from the edge. Drill diameter - 1-2 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. So, firstly, the bar will not burst, and secondly, it is easier to fasteners into plywood. Instead of wooden corners you can take metal, better - from stainless steel.

The next version of the flower pot is from wooden beam(photo below). It’s still easier here - they fold the beam so that the connection is either in one plane or in another. After laying each beam, it is nailed to those located below. Nails must be driven in at the corners; on the long side, you can also nail one or two times.

Everything is simple. Difficulties can arise only with the first row. It can be fixed to some kind of bottom, for example, knocked down from boards, a piece of waterproof plywood with holes drilled in it to drain water.

Any of these flowerpots can be combined with. You will get a wonderful place to relax. Such a group can be placed in the garden, near the entrance, somewhere on the site, near or a small homemade one.

From stumps and logs

In the garden or suburban area old trees have to be felled periodically. From their stumps and trunks, you can also make outdoor flowerpots. First, let's talk about how to use trunks. It is better not to peel off the bark, so the look of the flowerpots will be more decorative. Depending on the idea, the trunks are cut into blocks of some height. Can be cut with normal hand saw, but faster - with a chainsaw. These logs can be placed standing up, you can lay them on their side.

The main task is to take out a piece of wood so that a container is formed that can be filled with earth. There are several methods for removing the core. Usually take a drill and a large diameter drill. A conical or spade-shaped drill works better (as in the photo).

Make some holes to the depth you need. It depends on the type of plants that you plan to plant in this pot, but usually - 15-20 cm. You can make a lot of holes - the thinner the walls are, the easier it is to remove them.

The walls are destroyed with a chisel or a wide chisel. The handle of these tools is tapped with a hammer, and the sharp blade breaks off pieces. So, gradually, the core is released. Then the edges of the resulting container are slightly aligned using the same technique.

If the stump has a large diameter, you can use an ax or a pickaxe. Just be careful not to break the walls. Near the walls, you can use a drill, finally decorate the inside of the flowerpot with the same chisel.

Another option is to make some notches with an ax, crumble the wood, make a fire inside. But whether it will be possible to extinguish it in time is the question. The charred insides are then removed with a chisel or chisel.

By the way, very interesting compositions can be obtained from a very old and rotten deck. It is cleaned of very crumbling wood. The inside in this case is picked off very easily - it decays first inner part trunk. What's left can be coated with wood oil, stopping decay for a period.

Such hollowed out logs or stumps make excellent flowerpots. Some design ideas are collected in the photo gallery.

An interesting fence around the lawn - flowerpots of stumps alternate simply with decks Chornobrivtsy - unpretentious flowers with a long flowering period Primroses will bloom in stumps earlier - they receive more sun and are higher from cold earth And even a stump, on a spring day ...

From tub barrels and other cooperage products

The easiest way to make outdoor flowerpots is from old barrels, tubs and other containers that are no longer in use and cannot be used due to old age, but it is a pity to throw them away. They can be processed a little with sandpaper - manually or by attaching an appropriate nozzle to a drill / grinder. Then they can be painted, varnished for outdoor use or wood oil. And you can plant plants.

Barrels are sawn, and in any plane. But if you cut along, you will have to knock together planks with each other. The barrels cut across are two identical (or almost) flowerpots.

Even old wood may not be processed. So the composition looks more natural. But not all styles will fit such a flowerpot. In this case, use a special paint for outdoor work, which can be used on wood.

Outdoor flowerpot made of plastic with wooden lining

If outwardly you like wood, but want to have an airtight container to avoid drips on the site after watering, you can paste over the plastic container with wooden planks. Planks are treated with antiseptics, painted, dried. Then you can start converting a plastic container (bucket, tank, barrel) into a flower pot for outdoor flowers.

First, holes are drilled in the bottom. Out diameter - 10-14 mm. Leave two opposite zones along the edges untouched. Here we attach the “legs” - two planks cut so that they do not protrude beyond the outline of the barrel. You can attach it to the bolts, drill a hole under the head so that the fasteners are “drowned”.

We take a universal glue that is suitable for gluing plastic and wood, and glue the planks on it. The narrower the planks, the more monolithic the surface will be. Such outdoor flowerpots do not shrink and do not swell.

Homemade concrete flower vases

Concrete is good because it can be poured into any shape. Suitable plastic, glass, metal, wooden, clay vessels and even cardboard boxes.

It is most convenient to work with plastic - it is easy to remove from it. Even easier with glass, but such forms are usually disposable. It was not possible to take them out - they are broken.

What kind of concrete to use

For the manufacture of outdoor flowerpots, you can use regular concrete, consisting of cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 3/4 (Portland cement grade not lower than M 400 and clean sifted river sand). The surface of such a flowerpot will be monophonic, gray. In some cases, it looks stylish, and grey colour does not distract attention from the main thing - from flowers. But but not always.

decorative concrete products look more interesting. It is also called artistic, art, architectural, acrylic, polymer - concrete. These are all designations for the same product. In addition to cement and sand, architectural concrete contains polymer additives, small fragments of natural minerals, some contain dyes. The surface of the flowerpot made of decorative concrete is smoother, more interesting, interspersed natural stones. The specific type depends on the selected composition. Some types of decorative concrete are shown in the photo below.

What to make forms for pouring a concrete flowerpot

Any shape can be used, from almost any material. It is important that it does not get wet and keeps its shape for 4-5 hours. Then the concrete seizes and already holds itself. Therefore, they make forms even from thick packaging cardboard, sizing coal well and tightening it with belts” from adhesive tape. But caron can be used to make molds only for small flowerpots - for a small group of plants. But the form can be any.

Actually, two forms are needed - one to form the outer surface, the second - much smaller - is inserted inside the first and forms a zone into which soil is then poured and plants are planted. inner form is selected based on the dimensions of the planned flowerpot, but the wall thickness should not be less than 3 cm.

You can use plastic bowls, glasses, containers, trays, water bottles - large and small. You can knock down the form of boards, plywood, pieces of another sheet material. It doesn't matter. Anything, anything that comes to mind to use.

There is interesting shape basin or bowl? Also suitable. And to form the internal volume, you can find something heavy, preferably of the correct shape, but this is absolutely not important. Even a bowling ball will do. It is good because it is heavy and smooth - you can easily take it out.

Metal bowl and bowling ball - make a great flower pot

Round flowerpots look best, but finding the right shape is not easy. This is usually either plastic containers or glass balls, which, after setting the concrete, are cut / broken.

Manufacturing process

It is possible to work with cement only at temperatures above +5 °C. Ideal Conditions- this is + 20 ° C and high humidity, but temperature is more important. The place where you will leave the concrete to "ripen" should be in the shade.

You found suitable forms, stirred the cement. It should not be too runny, not too thick. It should not drain from a spatula or spatula, but not so dry that something can be molded from it.

It is necessary to work with gloves - concrete corrodes hands very quickly. You need a spatula or something similar to spread the solution, a long thin stick or a metal rod to remove air. You will also need either a large container with water or a piece of plastic wrap.

We take forms, process them with some kind of lubricant. This is necessary in order to remove the flowerpot from the mold easily. You can use the following drugs:

  • Non-stick cooking spray. Harmless and effective.
  • Special sprays for concrete. They are much more expensive, but the performance is the same.
  • Engine oil.
  • Universal grease VD-40.

Maybe other compounds work, but these are tested.

One of the compositions is processing forms. The big one is inside, the small one is outside. In a large form, pour the solution into the bottom with a layer of 3-4 cm, level it. This will be the bottom. If you want drainage holes in the bottom, insert pieces of tubing. You can use metal, cut them into pieces 3-4 cm long, also treat the outside with grease. In this case, the bottom thickness should be equal to the height of these tubes. And place them strictly under the bottom of the second form.

We put the second form on the solution. If it is light, we fill it with small stones, crushed stone, pebbles, sand. The gaps between the two walls are filled with mortar. If the material allows, then we take a rod or a thin stick along the walls with a hammer, pierce the solution to the bottom, shake it from side to side. With these actions - knocking and piercing - air bubbles come out of the concrete, it settles down a little. This procedure can be repeated a couple of times. Then we take some smooth object (a spoon, for example), spray it with grease and level the top of the wall. try to make the side as even as possible - then it's hard to do something with it.

We cover the form filled with concrete with a piece of polyethylene and leave it in this form for at least a day. After a day, the form can be removed, but it is still impossible to use the flowerpot. It can be lowered into a container of water and left there for a week. Another option is to cover with a film and sprinkle with water three or four times a day. Spray generously, until completely dark. Remember to cover with cling film each time. After about 10-14 days, you can start planting plants. That's all, now you can make concrete outdoor flowerpots with your own hands.

Finishing a concrete flowerpot

If you do not like the surface of the flowerpot, you can decorate it. Do not make the flowerpot too bright. It is only a background for the flowers and greenery that will be planted in it. There are traditional methods - painting, there are more exotic ones - finishing with mosaics, pieces of broken ceramic tiles or pebbles.

When painting, choose a paint that is suitable for concrete, pre-priming the surface (in order for the paint to hold better and not flake off).

For finishing with tiles or pebbles, a layer of tile adhesive (for outdoor use) 5-6 mm thick is laid on the surface, and pebbles are pressed into it. It is necessary to work carefully, to erase traces of glue on pebbles with a rhinestone - then it is not removed.

The finished flowerpot is left to dry until the glue dries (the time is indicated on the package). The joints can then be grouted using standard tile grout. It is inconvenient to work, the gaps between the pebbles are too narrow. You can try using thin plastic strips or narrow tile grouts.

Flowerpots from building concrete blocks

For planting plants suitable hollow concrete blocks with large cells. Soil is poured into the cells, flowers are planted. You can lay out a whole wall from such blocks. The recipe is simple but very effective.
