Stair module drawing. Modular ladders - a brief overview of the characteristics and tips for professional assembly at home. Types of modular stairs to the house

A modular staircase is a structure consisting of identical parts fastened together (modules with steps) attached to a central stringer. If desired, such a ladder can be made independently.

Features, pros and cons

Peculiarities

The modular staircase, as a rule, has a semicircular shape. To accommodate such a design, you need a lot of free space. However, this does not mean that the finished staircase will look too cumbersome. The design turns out to be neat and “airy”, the assembly features allow you to give the stairs almost any shape.

Read the benefits before you get started weaknesses modular stairs.

Advantages

Flaws

Modular stairs are not without drawbacks. First of all, the modular design is inferior to all-welded models in terms of its strength characteristics. All prefabricated connections will gradually become loose, so the owner will have to regularly monitor the quality of the structure and tighten the connections.

The second big disadvantage of modular stairs is the high cost of ready-made kits. However, your attention is invited to instructions for self-assembly of the structure, therefore this shortcoming is not relevant. The main thing that source materials were of the highest quality.

Before starting the arrangement of the stairs, select suitable option designs modular type. There are such types of modular stairs:

  • marching. Conventional straight designs with the simplest wide steps. Very easy to use and reliable, but rather bulky and non-compact;
  • screw. They occupy minimal space, but are not as convenient in terms of operation as mid-flight stairs;
  • rotary with platforms. They take up relatively little space and are quite comfortable. Have 2 or large quantity marches with intermediate turning platforms.

What you need to know about kosour?

Regardless of the selected type modular stairs you will have to get acquainted with the main element of the design in question - the chain stringer.

Kosour is the main central component of the considered variety of stairs. It is assembled from a number of typesetting elements, the installation of which can be carried out directly or at some angle, which gives the owner the opportunity to create stairs of a wide variety of shapes.

The kosour is fastened to the supporting modular elements from above and below, due to which the required rigidity and strength of the structure are achieved.

For additional rigidity, a support pipe is included in the design every 100-150 running centimeters.

If there is a solid concrete staircase near the location, or brick wall, from using additional elements modular design can be abandoned by fixing the stairs directly to the wall.

Stair assembly options

There are several methods for assembling ladder modules. Each of existing options characterized by its strengths and weaknesses, which you need to know about before starting work on the self-assembly of a modular staircase.

"Module to Module"

The kosour can be assembled according to the “module to module” method with additional fastening using plates and fixing screws. This is the first generation of such ladders with many disadvantages, including:

  • strictly limited step steps. This step cannot be adjusted;
  • some curvature assembled structure. It is impossible to get rid of this defect even by tightening the screws;
  • relatively low durability. Over time, the mounting plates begin to unbend on their own, which leads to sagging of the entire structure and causes additional inconvenience.

The only advantages of this option are the high speed and the utmost ease of assembly.

Threaded studs

This method involves the use of threaded studs in the assembly process. Such stairs do not have the disadvantages of the previous design, however, the assembly with threaded studs is quite difficult. The height of the steps still cannot be adjusted. Every 1-2 years it will be necessary to tighten loose threaded connections, and this also causes a lot of trouble.

Clamp principle

These are new generation ladders. Among the main advantages of this option, it should be noted the possibility of changing the length of the step and the distance between the elements. You can unfold modules and flanges.

The distribution of the load on the fasteners is organized according to improved technology - the connections do not loosen over time.

Each of the stairs discussed above can be assembled using bolts - these are elementary fasteners installed between individual steps and contribute to increased rigidity and reliability of the structure. Most often, bolts are used in the stairs of the latest generation.

Important Notes

In order for your modular staircase to serve as long as possible without complaints, remember the following tips:

  • vertical supports must be installed on pre-filled concrete pads. They will serve as the foundation;
  • the ladder is allowed to be matched only with a main wall with a thickness of 20-25 cm;
  • when installing a modular ladder on wooden floor logs must first be reinforced with transverse bars.

Preparatory stage

On the preparatory stage you have to perform a number of calculations and prepare the necessary drawings.

First step. Create a drawing of the room where you plan to place the modular staircase. It is most convenient to make such drawings on a scale on graph paper or in a special program.

Second step. Measure the height of the room. Draw a section of the room in height next to the previously drawn up plan of the room on a piece of paper. Mark in the drawing the lines of the floor and ceiling of the room.

Third step. Schematically draw a modular ladder. The steps will be fixed at a distance of about 15-16 cm. The drawing will help you determine the required number of steps. If the top step will have an unacceptably small height, the "surplus" must be evenly distributed over all the steps of the stairs.

For example, the floor has a height of 280 cm. You make 15 cm steps. Simple calculations show that there will be not an integer number of steps, but, specifically in this case, 18.6 pieces. In this example, you need to make 18 steps, increasing the distance between the individual steps to 15.5 cm.

Fourth step. Apply a horizontal projection stairs to the room plan. Optimal Width modular stairs - 100 cm. It is better to make steps about 30 cm wide.

Fifth step. Prepare a drawing of the modules for fastening the steps of the stairs. Each module must have the same dimensions and shape. If you plan to use ready-made modules, this drawing is not needed.

main stage

First step. Prepare material for the manufacture of steps of a modular staircase. It is advisable to use solid wood. Optimal Thickness boards - from 4-5 cm. Use screws and glue to connect the boards. If you wish, you can purchase steps in ready-made. At this point, be guided by your personal preferences and the characteristics of your particular situation.

Second step. Prepare modules for fastening steps. It is almost impossible to make round modules at home without the appropriate skills. Therefore, it is better to immediately order their manufacture by a specialized company according to your calculations and drawings.

You can make square modules yourself. Use profile pipes for this. Pipes with walls from 0.5 cm thick are suitable. Use bolts and welding to connect the elements.

Third step. Prepare concrete pads for the installation of load-bearing supports. These supports should be immediately concreted into the platforms.

Fourth step. cut into suitable pipe on the right amount parts in accordance with previously prepared drawings.

Fifth step. Make holes in the prepared elements for bolted connection modules.

Sixth step. Assemble the entire structure by attaching the ladder modules to the supports in parallel.

Seventh step. Reinforce the system by creating some neat welds. At the same stage, weld a metal corner to the stair modules if you want to create such a edging for the steps.

Eighth step. Paint the metal structural elements, having previously cleaned them of rust.

Ninth step. Mount steps.

Tenth step. Install a fence. It can be forged or wooden. Choose to your taste.

In the end, you will only have to once again verify the quality and reliability of all connections and test the assembled structure. On this, a modular staircase with your own hands is ready. As you can see, there is nothing complicated in its assembly. Follow the instructions and everything will definitely work out.

When choosing a staircase to the room, the owner must take into account such parameters as the reliability of the design, the complexity of installation and the time it takes to manufacture. For example, concrete stairs very strong and durable, however, their use is advisable only in capital buildings due to high load. Ladders made of wood are affordable and environmentally friendly, but they are demanding to care for, especially in rooms with high humidity - the wood sheet is quickly deformed in them. Forged metal stairs are very beautiful and reliable, but they are quite an expensive solution and with a long manufacturing cycle. But there is one-stop solution for all types of buildings - modular stairs.

In this article, we will analyze their types, advantages and disadvantages, and assembly order.

Description and characteristics

Modular staircase - a prefabricated structure that consists of two parts (module and step) on the central stringer. This type of stairs is very reliable due to the strong attachment of the modules to each other. The compact dimensions allow you to spend a minimum living space for installation of stairs in any room. It fits perfectly into the interior due to its versatility and the possibility of flexible styling.

As mentioned above, modular stairs are assembled as a constructor - modules are inserted into each other, steps are installed on them and fixed with bolts. The number of modules is calculated based on the value of the height between floors, the radius or angle of rotation and the distance between the steps. When choosing a ladder, it is recommended that you first of all pay attention to the quality of the metal, since some manufacturers, in order to save money, make stringers from low-quality raw materials, which leads to its deflection. You should not save on materials and the frame should be made of a durable alloy.

The steps are made of wood and must be carefully crafted. The main species are pine, beech and oak. Thanks to the many options for wood finishes, it can be styled to match any interior. When choosing, you need to pay attention to the presence of chips and burrs, as well as cracks and delamination. If the wood was stored in the wrong conditions, then during operation it will become unusable and will need to be replaced.

Types of modular stairs

A wide variety of modular ladders allows you to choose a design for installation in the most complex and limited installation spaces. Modular stairs are divided into several types: mid-flight (straight), spiral stairs and stairs with a platform.

Marching (straight)

These are straight stairs that require free space. They consist of one or more marches, the number of steps in which does not exceed 14-15 pieces. They are bulky, but easy to install and very convenient to use.

screw

Rightfully considered the most effective solution in terms of saving space, but the convenience of lifting and lowering can be difficult.

Stairs with landing

As well as spiral staircases, stairs with a platform take much less space than with a direct march. The first march is set in the corner, then the platform follows and the second march begins. Such a ladder is very convenient for operation and is a fairly common solution.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of modular stairs include their low cost relative to analogues of another type of construction. The price will depend on the number of modules, respectively, if you have a small interfloor space, then you can save a lot. The modules are quite easy to interconnect, so with minimal assembly skills, you can do the installation of a modular staircase yourself.

If one of the steps is damaged during operation, then it can always be replaced without disassembling neighboring steps or modules. Replacement is very simple - you need to unscrew the fasteners of the plate to the step and after that it can be changed. A significant advantage of modular stairs is that from its components you can assemble a structure of absolutely any shape that is best suited for your premises.

Among the shortcomings, it should be noted the low reliability in the selection of low-quality materials, therefore, the issue of choice must be taken seriously.

Modular ladder can be installed on their own you need a tool general purpose, assembly instructions and partner. Many companies offer modular stairs according to individual projects, which remains only to collect at home.

  1. To ensure stability, it is recommended to mount the bottom module on a concrete base.
  2. If the installation is carried out in frame house, then the lags need to be further strengthened with the help of beams.
  3. The fixation of the modules among themselves can be significantly increased if a special thread sealant is used.
  4. With a step width of more than one meter, it is recommended to use additional support posts, as the structure will be subject to lateral rolling.

A staircase, based on only one central stringer, and consisting of separate repeating elements (modules with steps fixed to them), fastened together, can be made independently if desired. In the article we will talk about how to make a modular staircase with your own hands.

The design usually has the form of a semicircle, therefore, it requires a fairly large area for its placement. However, the “air” configuration (both pillars and protruding from the wall (or attached to it) beam-brackets can act as supports) allows you to give almost any shape (straight, rotary with a platform, in the form of a spiral, etc.) .

In order for the modular staircase to last long enough, the following rules should be followed:

  • under vertical supports it is better to fill in a small concrete platform - a kind of foundation that takes on the weight of the structure;
  • if part of the load through the brackets will be transferred to the wall, then this wall should be solid, at least 200 mm thick (and not a thin partition);
  • a ladder installed on a wooden floor should be supported on logs, having previously strengthened them with transverse bars.

It is impossible to create modular stairs without preliminary calculations. To carry them out, you will need:

  • Make a drawing of the room in which you are going to install the stairs. Such a scheme is best drawn to scale (on paper in a box or graph paper).
  • Measure the height of the room, in centimeters. Next to the plan of the room on the sheet, schematically depict the section of the room in height (mark with lines the level of the floor of the lower and upper floors with the obligatory observance of scale).

  • Then make a schematic drawing. The distance between the steps (vertically) should be 14-16 centimeters. If the last (upper) step turns out to be less than necessary in height, “scatter” this “surplus” evenly over all other steps. For example, the floor height is 280 centimeters. With a step height of 15 centimeters, we get 18.6 steps in the diagram. In this case, it is better to make 18 steps, the distance between which in height will be 15.5 cm.
  • Draw a horizontal projection of the steps on the floor plan. The recommended width of the stairs is 1 meter. The width of the step is 28-30 centimeters.
  • When constructing a straight or L-shaped structure, the number of steps in which exceeds 15, it is better to make an intermediate platform, the length of which is 1 meter.

A spiral staircase must have an internal radius at which the free part of the step (from the side of the turning center) will maintain an open width of at least 20 centimeters.

Make a large drawing of the modules on which the steps will be attached. All modules must be the same. If you plan to order modules, then a drawing is not necessary.

Let's start creating

First, we choose the material for the steps: any wood you have will do (the thickness of the board must be at least 4 centimeters). The boards on the steps usually have to be glued and at the same time additionally fastened with long screws (to ensure the necessary strength). Alternatively, you can buy ready-made wooden steps required size or purchase a solid board of suitable thickness (or glue two less thick ones).

Modules round section, on which the steps will be attached, it is not so easy to make it yourself. Therefore, it is better to order them in a special company, providing your drawing and calculation of the stairs.

Modules square section can be made from a profile pipe, with a wall thickness of at least 4-5 mm. The elements will have to be connected to each other with bolts (4 pieces for each connection), plus additional welds to enhance reliability. It is this option that we will now analyze in detail with you.

The assembly of a modular staircase always starts from the bottom, therefore, first of all, it is necessary to make concrete platforms (foundations) for bearing metal supports which can be immediately concreted into them.

  • cut into profile pipe into elements of the length you need.
  • Drill holes in them to fasten the modules together with bolts.
  • Remembering to attach the modules to the bearing supports, assemble the entire structure.
  • To strengthen the structure, make several welds.
  • If you decide to make steps with a border of metal corner, weld it to the modules at this stage of the assembly of the structure.
  • Paint all metal parts with special paint, after removing rust.
  • Set steps.
  • Make a railing for the stairs (wood or forged).

Video

This video is about installing a modular ladder.

In this article we will understand what are modular metal stairs? What are their types, installation features, we will give recommendations and instructions for manufacturing and installation.

It is not difficult to guess that such a staircase is made up of parts that are embedded and fixed one into the other. load-bearing element- a beam, also assembled from modules. It is used as an interfloor, when the height between them is not more than three and a half meters (for private houses and multi-level apartments).

The metal modular staircase is quite easy to assemble. People without special building skills are able to install it in no more than 5 hours.

Italian developments of these designs appeared at the end of the last century as an alternative, not only as anti-massive, but also as cheaper ones.

The best qualities of modular stairs are:

  • varieties, design styles, colors of stairs and materials for steps;
  • decoration and addition to any interior;
  • minimum occupied area;
  • easy assembly and dismantling;
  • adjustability of modules in height - you can always correct your own miscalculations;
  • combination of hardness wood + metal;
  • independent, simple repair due to ease of installation - quick replacement of modules, as well as parts.

There are also disadvantages that arise over time of operation:

  • reeling;
  • subsidence of steps / stairs (there is a need to mount retaining structures for 4-5 modules, which negatively affects the aesthetics).

If you decide to install this design at home

You need to do the following:

  • count the number of modules (for 1800 turn - 6 modules, for 900 - 3 or 4), the number of steps - they can be from 12 pieces (2.4 m length) to 15 (3.45 m length) taking into account the tread (from 1 to 6 cm);
  • choose which support will be: with a cantilever mount or use of a support stand;
  • determine the angle of inclination and the height of the tread;
  • think over where there will be an opening in the upper floor measuring from 2.5 * 0.9 m;
  • calculate what geometry the first step will be, it depends on whether to install a starting module or a winder step with a starting module (remembering how a metal modular staircase is assembled, consider fixing to the floor);
  • prepare screws and bolts with a length of 10 mm or more for mounting modules, modular frame; all components: kosoura modules, supports, stairs modules directly, steps, retaining posts, fixed floor supports, balusters, handrails;
  • install according to the instructions.

The highest quality stairs of this type are produced in Italy, Poland, low in price and quality - in China.

How to make a modular metal staircase with your own hands?

You can buy components and assemble. As practice shows, it is not worth releasing the components yourself - according to calculations, it is difficult to adhere to the exact dimensions, and it is also not economically profitable. But if you are really a specialist, you can study the production of support structures on the sites and make them yourself.

Then - a modular ladder made of pipes with your own hands.

The profile pipe is cut into parts / modules of square section. Drill holes. The modules are bolted to each other, then to the main support, reinforcing the structure, weld it. Clean up rust. Opened with a primer for metal.

Steps are made using dry and glued oak, beech, pine. There are budget blanks in stores, but you can do it yourself if you have a woodworking machine and a jigsaw. Triangular and wedge-shaped winders are more difficult to make, but, like standard ones, they are made at home from furniture panels thickness from 4 cm, massive board or two glued and thinner.

Useful diagram for assembly

In order not to waste time on calculations, use special programs on the network.

We create a turn using 3-4 steps, the width of the tread is 20 cm. The railings are made of chrome-plated pipes D50 (handrails) and D32 (balusters), using flanges of the appropriate size, an end holder and a handrail holder, a corner, a set of self-tapping screws and plugs.

Important: we carry out the installation from below, we concrete the supporting supports in previously prepared sites, we create a foundation for the weight of the stairs.

Fences (forged or wooden) are installed after the steps.

Experts also note the possibility of installing the Prestige staircase in a renovated room without compromising the style of the room and the quality of the finishing work.

Why modular designs gradually deserve more and more popularity? Because structures of such a plan are convenient to calculate and install. The design details are already thought out and made of reliable materials. All that remains for you is to choose the scheme in accordance with which the modular staircase will be installed. Modular staircase can be the most different configuration: conventional marching or with a turn, on the bolts or in the form of a screw structure.

In this case, it all depends on your personal preferences and the area of \u200b\u200bthe first floor.

The obvious advantage that all modular stairs for the home have is their compactness and lightness. This, however, does not mean that they are unreliable or fragile. Modern materials allow you to combine such qualities as strength and lightness.

Types of modular structures on the second floor

In general, all designs according to their device scheme and configuration can be divided into three options.

The first is the usual straight marching ladder. Its plus is the convenience of lifting, and the minus is that it will require a large area for organization.

The second option is marching structure with a turn. It can be 180 or 90 degrees. The design may have a turntable or winder steps instead of her.

Such a staircase will take up much less space than a regular marching staircase, and installing it in a private house with your own hands will not require much effort and time.

The third option is spiral staircase. It is difficult to ascend and inconvenient to descend, but in order to save space, it is considered the best. The spiral staircase has a certain radius, along which the steps are twisted in a spiral, and the central pole acts as a support.

If the spiral staircase is installed in the form of modules, this will greatly facilitate installation on your own.

All modular designs have one difference, which is the special structure of the frame. It is a kosour, installed in the center of the entire structure. The kosour is also assembled in a modular way, so if you have its parts, you can easily make the structure straight or with a turn yourself. The central kosour is fixed to the support modules from above and below, and thus the necessary rigidity of the structure is ensured. However, you can increase the rigidity with the help of a special support pipe, which is installed on the stringer every linear meter.

Provided that the structure will be located at bearing wall, the pipe can not be installed.

It should also be said about the design of the stairs on the bolts. This is a special type of structure, which, at times, does not require the installation of stringers. Stairs on bolts to the second floor are fastened on one side of the steps to the wall, and on the other - with the help of metal pins, called bolts, between themselves.

Bolt ladders are very compact and stylish designs, which are not inferior in reliability and strength to conventional marching options.

Assembly Options

When choosing a modular staircase, it is important to pay attention to the assembly process itself: how the parts will be assembled together.

The first option is to assemble the kosour module into a module, the parts of which are fastened with plates and screws. This is the most old way assembly, which refers to the structures of the first generation. Among the obvious shortcomings, one can note the impossibility of regulating the step pitch, which the modular staircase has. The modular staircase of the first generation can also bend a little after installation, and it will be impossible to remove it.

In addition, the plates with which the parts are connected can wear out over time. However, if for you a sine qua non is ease of installation, then this design will be the most suitable option for you.

The second way of assembly occurs with the help of threaded studs. In this case, after installation, curvature does not appear, but it is quite difficult to assemble it.

And also independently there is no way to adjust the height of the steps. The downside is that the threaded connections begin to loosen after a while.

The third assembly method is the installation of modules according to the principle of a clamp. This is the most modern version devices of modular stairs in a private house. In this case, you can independently adjust both the length and the height of the steps.

Module connections do not loosen after a while, because the load with this assembly method is distributed differently than in previous versions.

It is characteristic that all three options may also involve the installation of stairs on the bolts, which will make the structure more reliable.

Modular stairs in a private house: how to choose

The first thing you should pay attention to is the manufacturer of the structure. Naturally, an important criterion is its appearance, but if the details are of poor quality, then its design will not play a significant role.

The ancestor of the production of this type of design is considered to be Italy, the baton of which was picked up by Poland. But the cost foreign options far exceeds Russian analogues. Wherein Russian production learned how to make high-class modular structures.

The prestige modular staircase, which can be straight, rotated 180 degrees and 90 degrees, is especially popular. This design is compact, since the support is the central stringer in the form of a rounded profile.

The convenience of its use lies in the fact that you can easily adjust the step size for yourself.

There are a sufficient number of designs that this modular staircase has. The modular staircase can be on a stringer of silver, black or golden color. AT standard equipment besides metal frame includes pine or beech railing on one side and pine or beech steps.

Standard designs "Prestige" have ideal parameters in terms of convenience. The width of the step is 30 cm, the thickness is 4 cm, the height of the step can be 19-22 cm, and the width of the march is 90 cm.

L-shaped modular staircase with a 180 degree turn is perfect for small spaces, because the rotation will allow you to conveniently position the structure without “eating up” the usable area.

The spiral staircase "Prestige" to the second floor is conveniently mounted with your own hands, unlike not modular structures. It is characteristic that you do not need to calculate the parameters of all its details. This is especially true for winder trapezoidal steps.

You can order the installation of this staircase, but it's easy to do it yourself.

Another excellent option is the solo ladder. It can also be 180 degree, 90 degree or straight. As a support in comes with all-metal central stringer. The steps can be made from any kind of wood you want: beech, ash, pine or larch. Railings are made of stainless steel or wood. You can order the installation of this ladder from professionals, but it will be cheaper to install it yourself.

The cost of such a modular design can be quite high due to high-quality parts manufactured to individual parameters. Therefore, in order to save money, many people switch to stairs. Chinese made. However, cheap options are not The best way install quality construction to the second floor.

Such structures use inexpensive materials, which will definitely affect the operation of the entire structure not for the better.

Modular stairs to the second floor: calculation

Of course, you can order the installation of this staircase or choose self-installation, however, the initial calculations still need to be done on their own.

This must be done in order to determine which parameters of the models will suit you.

The first criterion that influences the choice is the space for the building that you can afford.

A spiral staircase will require an area of at least three square meters with a width of its steps of 100 cm. The spiral staircase will be more massive if the width of the lifting elements increases.

marching structure with convenient sizes parts may require an area of 4-7 square meters.

If, according to your parameters, a direct structure is too long, it is better to make a turn.

The angle of inclination also plays a decisive role not only in saving space, but also in ease of lifting. Optimal angle tilt is considered 30-45 degrees.

by the most optimal sizes details of the structure are considered the following parameters:

  • Step width - from 20-30 cm;
  • Step height - from 15 to 22 cm;
  • The width of the march structure is 90-130 cm; a spiral staircase in width can be 100-120 cm.

You can calculate the structure for lifting using special programs or try to determine it yourself.
