Make a wooden fence in the country with your hands. How to make a beautiful and durable wooden fence with your own hands. Wooden fences "blinds"

Wooden fences among the owners summer cottages extremely popular. Nevertheless, sometimes you can hear how wood is called a cheap material, boring and boring. Whereas true connoisseurs understand that natural material is always beautiful, environmentally friendly, modern and stylish. And if the owner of the site has a taste, a wooden fence can look expensive and really impressive.

Peculiarities

The fencing of the estate is one of the most necessary elements in the garden, regardless of its size. Such structures can be extremely diverse: carry a decorative function or protect the territory from intruders, be expensive or budget, complex configuration or ordinary picket fence.

Wood is extremely popular. Wood as a raw material is more expensive than profiled sheet, but cheaper than brick or wrought iron. In favor of the choice of this material is evidenced by such a property as environmental friendliness.

In our age high technology and a large number industrial facilities, when the regime of "black skies" over cities has become commonplace, many opt for natural materials. The tree becomes an outlet for people who care about their well-being and that of their loved ones.

A wooden fence can be painted, decorated with unique carvings, which often add chic to the entire garden. But even unpainted wood looks very good. Of course, wood is not as durable as, for example, brick or concrete. However, there are special compounds to treat and protect a wooden fence from fungus or wood bugs. And this will significantly increase the life of the structure. In addition, you can cover the structure with varnish, drying oil or special paint enriched with protective substances. This will also increase its service life.

It is no coincidence that a wooden fence is considered one of the most beautiful. Any wooden houses: not only from a log house or timber, but also those in which only wood-like finishes are used, they look very harmonious, complemented by a fence made of the same material. As a rule, wood structures easily fit into any design solution.

Advantages and disadvantages

Wood has many advantages, and they are all quite significant.

  • Wood is a natural and environmentally friendly material that does not litter the environment. It is light, lively, "breathing", which creates a feeling of fullness. fresh air space. In a plastic or glass interior, this cannot be experienced.
  • A wooden fence does not require much effort to care for it; with the help of minimal skills, you can change a board that has failed, and in order to paint a structure, you just need to pick it up paint brush or roller.
  • Practicality of structures made of wood. They protect from prying eyes and from bad weather, if properly cared for, they will last a long time. If you choose a durable species, such as larch, oak or ash, this will increase the life of the fence. At the same time, such structures pass air well and do not “suffocate”.
  • Natural material harmonizes with environment. A wooden fence can even become a real work of art if its owner has a taste. It is possible to decorate it as you like, and if you have the desire and ability, you can do it yourself.

  • It is also important to take into account the relatively low cost, as well as simple installation. Even without resorting to the help of professionals, it is possible to create a fence on the site in the shortest possible time. There are very few designs and types that you can’t do yourself.
  • A large number of options suitable for a variety of situations. Wooden fences are so different in appearance that in fact they have only one thing in common - the wood material from which they are made.
  • Wood is also friendly to other materials, it combines perfectly with them. This makes it possible to come up with even more design options.
  • An important fact is that the tree absorbs sounds well. In summer cottages or cottage settlements erecting such a fence and getting rid of unnecessary noise can be a big plus.

The disadvantages traditionally include a short service life(maximum ten years), easy flammability if the material has not been subjected to fire protection impregnations, as well as a tendency to soak and rot. However, with proper care and regular treatment with special compounds, the “life” of a wooden fence can be significantly extended. In addition, in the event of damage to one or two boards, there is no need to disassemble the entire structure, it is enough to replace only the part that is out of order.

You also need to take into account the rather low protective ability of wooden fences, unless, of course, this is a stockade with pointed tops. The rest of the species still perform a more decorative function, decorating the site and complementing the architecture of the house building.

Accordingly, if there is a desire (or need) for the fence to protect, it may make sense to consider other, more durable materials or wooden fences in combination, for example, with brick supports.

Kinds

When choosing a fence for your site, each homeowner draws his own conclusions: how much it costs to build one or another type of fence, which types are most popular, and which ones are durable. It is wood that is the unique material from which, if desired, you can build a thousand fences, while never repeating yourself.

There are several types of wooden fences:

  • classical;
  • palisade;
  • log paving;
  • fence;
  • ladder (herringbone);
  • blinds;
  • ranch;
  • wattle;
  • lattice.

A classic wooden fence consists of boards fitted to each other with a solid canvas, which can be either vertical or horizontal. You can put it on a brick or stone foundation, or you can frame it with columns. This option is universal, applicable in almost any situation and for any site.

Unlike the classic picket fence, the canvas is formed strictly vertically. As the name suggests, this type consists of stakes driven into the ground. This is a very aggressive type of fence, especially if the upper ends of the logs are sharpened. In addition, due to the density, this fence requires a large amount of material, so it may not be too cheap. Of all types of wooden fences, this one provides the best protection, since there are few people who want to climb over the sharp peaks of the palisade.

Modern palisades look lighter than traditional ones; stakes are not always butt-fitted to each other. There are some fun designs, like lances that are painted and sharpened like pencils. The elements of the palisade, framed by stone pillars and foundations, look original.

In log paving, logs tightly fitted to each other are laid horizontally, vertically or at an angle. In order to join more tightly, the logs are sawn in half.

As for the picket fence, it is traditionally used for fencing exclusively summer cottages. Protection is not its function, as a rule, this type of fence is low and sparse, most often it is installed to mark the site. Although you can give it the desired height and reduce the width of the gaps, in this way, the temporary fence will turn into a full-fledged fence.

You can increase the aesthetic appeal of the fence by creating the necessary combination of pattern, spacing between the planks and the shape of the top edge, suitable for a particular area. This type is easy to install and inexpensive, but does not withstand mechanical stress. A low picket fence is ideally complemented by climbing plants.

This kind of picket fence as a "checkerboard" is distinguished by some in independent view. Since each side of it is front due to the installation of the crate on the longitudinal logs, this option is extremely attractive and also durable.

Interesting solution checkerboards, when the bottom of the board is fitted tightly, and gaps are left on top. Thus, the design achieves a balance between privacy and openness.

When constructing a Christmas tree (ladder), the boards are installed horizontally and overlapped, and due to the specific design of the fence, complete opacity is ensured with excellent ventilation.

For the construction of blinds, the boards are placed vertically or horizontally with a slight slope and stacked on top of each other by 1 or 2 cm. This method reliably hides from prying eyes. At the same time, a fence of this design allows air to pass through well, therefore it is relevant for wetlands and areas located in lowlands. You can fix the structure on metal poles.

Wattle (tyn) - again, from the name it is clear that this is a structure woven from shrubs or tree shoots. She is very beautiful, elegant, but extremely fragile. To maintain an aesthetically attractive appearance, it is necessary to periodically “weave” broken branches into the structure and cut off shoots growing in the wrong direction.

Such a fence looks interesting when it is woven for a flower bed to protect it from animal access. It is even more original when several flower beds are braided in this way. Also, to create this kind of fence, you can use wooden boxes.

However, it would be wrong to say that a wicker fence cannot be made of boards. On the contrary, such fences are popular, although more expensive. The most durable and solid among them is a wicker fence with brick pillars. It is very expensive, and its installation takes a lot of time, but the result can exceed all expectations.

A wicker fence with metal posts looks very impressive. It is being built much faster and easier, much cheaper than even a similar design with false pillars.

Ranch - this type of fencing came from America, where it is very popular. In Russia, it is no less popular, although it is called "fence". It is used, as a rule, for zoning a front garden, as well as fencing a place for walking farm animals. The “ranch” option, installed on a stone support with stone pillars, does not look beaten.

The most decorative of all types is the lattice. Planks can be placed at an angle, crosswise or braided, in any case it will come out aesthetically attractive. If you combine several types of “weaving” planks on one canvas, the fence will look even more spectacular. The lattice used as a support looks very nice. climbing plants or decorated with small baskets of flowers.

Lattice fence is the most suitable type of fencing for decoration.

Listed species- the main ones, other subspecies are derived from them. You can list for a long time: cat ears, dog ears, peak, concave, double concave, convex - these are all types of fences. Each type performs its functions in accordance with the needs of the owner.

There are also options that combine two types of fences, for example, wickerwork and checkerboard or lattice and checkerboard.

materials

Most often, fences designed to protect the site are constructed using conifers: larch, spruce, cedar, pine. It should be borne in mind that pine is not the most durable material. To build a fence made of wood, any breed will do. The main thing is the quality of the wood.

If you need to get by with a minimum of funds, then the ideal option is pine or spruce boards treated with an antiseptic, which contains olive oil. However, it must be remembered that spruce is an extremely knotty material, subject, like pine, to increased cracking. However, sawing these rocks is much easier due to their softness.

It should be noted that during the construction of a wooden fence there are two options: budget and expensive. The most expensive option is larch.

If you only expect from the fence decorative qualities, it is better to opt for hardwood: birch, beech, ash. The strength of this design may be low, but it will look very attractive.

Support poles can be made of bricks, timber, metal profiles, pipes and screw piles. Preferably brick or piles.

Depending on the type of fence being constructed, the material for its sheathing is also selected - logs (rounded or not), timber, boards, picket fence.

Having stopped on a log, it should be remembered that the fence made of it is extremely heavy, requires a more solid support, but at the same time it is highly durable and reliable.

As for the beam, it is divided into several types:

  • whole;
  • profiled;
  • glued;
  • spliced;
  • double.

A bar is also a massive material, which makes the fence very heavy and makes it durable. As with choosing a log, a log fence requires very strong supporting posts.

If you decide to use boards, there are three types suitable for fence sheathing:

  1. planed;
  2. decorative;
  3. unedged.

Most often, planed boards are used, they are universal, suitable for any fence. In addition, they are atraumatic, smooth and immediately ready for use.

At decorative boards process only the ends and sides. Then they are aged with a special composition. This species is becoming more and more popular among sophisticated gardeners. The brushing method gives the wood an original texture. The only downside is the material is expensive.

The name "unedged board" speaks for itself - it is not treated with anything. This is economical, but fraught with splinters, cuts and other minor injuries. Therefore, if this type is acquired, it is better to process it yourself.

Perhaps the cheapest option for building a wooden fence is a slab, that is, a side cut of a log. One side of it is sawn, and the other is raw. We can say that the slab is a type of woodworking waste. Having sanded and cleaned the material from the bark, it is easy to build a practical and beautiful fence. It can be laid both horizontally and vertically, with or without gaps.

It is important to consider that only business slabs can be used for fencing.

However, there is also a more expensive (and high-quality) version of this material - the so-called block house, which in fact is not a pure slab, but its imitation. It is made from coniferous species, it costs several times more. It certainly looks more impressive.

It may be that the owner decides to combine materials by making a fence, for example, from wood and stone. it classic version very attractive and interesting. stone pillars act as support, they are connected by spans of wood.

In the event that stone supports are not available for any reason, you can replace them with false pillars - metal structures with an indelible pattern imitating stone or brick. Such poles look like real ones, they can be made according to the customer's sketch - for example, under a tree.

An interesting combination (and very innovative) is offered by designers to bold owners: stones are tightly poured into a double chain-link fence, and the structure is closed with wooden planks from above and below. This structure is called "gabion". It can also be used solo, dividing the space of the garden or recreation area into zones.

Regarding the quality of the material purchased for the construction of the fence, the following can be said.

  • The plastic packaging in which the fence boards are located must be transparent. If it is not, then it is better not to make a purchase. AT this case You can't buy a cat in a poke.
  • If there are drops of water inside the package, then the boards are damp; when they dry, deformation may occur.
  • Planed boards should not be rough or cracked. Also, they are unacceptable for the presence of chips.
  • Screw curvature also speaks of marriage. The boards need to be level.
  • Knotty wood is not good, even worse - if the knots fell out.
  • The smell should be fresh, woody; the slightest hint of mold also means marriage, that is, rotting.
  • The surface of the boards must not be wet.
  • It is necessary to treat with doubt the presence of stains of unknown origin and the unnatural color of the boards, this also indicates poor quality material.

Style and design

The fence, both built around the house and located inside the site, should be in harmony directly with the house and other elements of the garden. It can be decorated in any style the owner wishes. Someone paints the fence, preferring this decor method to others. Someone decorates it with carved details, patterns, ornaments. Someone likes plants that twine a fence like a hedge.

You can decorate the fence as you like, as long as it does not change the sense of proportion and style. As for the design, at present, in addition to the standard forms of fencing, a lot of new ones are offered, original variants- convex, concave, wicker, puzzle gates, where each board is given an individual shape, and then they are all tightly fitted to each other in an intricate pattern.

Of course, wood carving remains the most popular solution chosen by owners to decorate their fence.

The thread can be:

  • Geometric- this is very difficult view activities, since it is necessary to cut a pattern consisting of geometric shapes on the surface of the wood using a special knife and chisel;
  • contour– also performed manually; the desired pattern is applied to the wood with a pencil, after which its contour is knocked out with a chisel. The result is a three-dimensional carved pattern, which can be given depth if the recesses are painted in one shade, and the rest in another;
  • Lace- the easiest way, its essence is that a pattern is applied to a wooden blank. After that, a hole is drilled into which the jigsaw knife is installed, and then they only work with it.

Provence-style fences can be decorated with any elements that come to mind - from birdhouses to flower pots. Fans of country style should take a closer look at the darkened unpainted wood, of course, in good condition.

Relatively rustic style we can say that this is the simplest thing that exists, and a minimum of funds is enough to create a fence in this style - the same slab. The effect that such a fence creates, if it was created not hastily, but with taste and, as they say, with soul, is many times greater than the effort expended.

How to do it yourself?

It happens that the owner does not want to resort to the services of professionals, wanting to independently build a wooden fence in his garden. This is quite realistic if you calculate the amount of materials and meticulously follow the steps of the step-by-step instructions. Moreover, installing a fence with your own hands can turn into an exciting activity for one person or for the whole family.

Before starting work, you need to calculate how many boards you will need. This is not difficult. It is necessary to divide the length of the proposed fence by the width of the board - if it is planned, for example, to erect a palisade. If the fence is not continuous, then the width of the board is added to the width of the gap, then the length of the fence is divided by this number.

In any case, it is better to purchase boards a little more than required. Especially if they are non-trivial, and it will be difficult to buy them in case of shortage.

However experienced summer resident knows that the store does not sell boards, but cubic meters of wood. But that's not a problem. To find out how much cubic meters wood will be needed for construction, you must first multiply the length, width and thickness of one board. After that, we multiply the resulting number by the previously calculated number of boards. Everything is ready, cubic meters are calculated.

The easiest to perform is a picket fence with gaps. For its construction, one cannot do without drawing accessories - rulers, squares, pencils. In addition, you need a hacksaw for wood and, if you plan to cut curly elements, a jigsaw. To dig, you need a shovel; to drill, you need a drill. It is obvious.

The number of required fittings such as self-tapping screws and metal corners should be calculated in advance.

  • The beginning of any construction is the marking of the territory and the determination of the line where the fence will pass. This area needs to be cleared and demolished. old building, if any.
  • When the length and place are determined, you need to drive in pegs along the entire length of the future fence. As soon as the place for the gate (or gate, or both) is determined, the points of the supporting pillars are marked at a distance of 2 to 3 m between each.
  • Next - time to install the base. It can be a foundation or the installation of support pillars. Pillars can be driven in or planted on a concrete base. The depth to which the supports are dug in should not be less than 0.7 m. At this stage, you need to control the height of the supports.
  • Part of the supports that enter the ground is recommended to be treated with liquid bitumen, this will significantly strengthen the base, as well as extend the life of the fence as a whole.
  • It is most reliable to fill the hole where the support is installed, liquid concrete. Then the supports will definitely not loosen.

  • To support pillars two crossbars (upper and lower) are attached to nails or self-tapping screws. If the fence is high, you can attach a third one - in the middle.
  • Form the body of the fence by attaching the boards. The choice of the method of fastening the boards depends on the chosen type of fence and the desire of the owner. If you wish, you can not be limited to a simple horizontal or vertical layout by forming an ornament (having previously thought out how to do this).
  • To give additional strength to the structure, it is recommended to attach the boards to pre-installed metal corners.
  • After that, it remains to treat the fence with protective compounds, for example, impregnation from moisture.
  • For the manufacture of the gate, the canvas is collected separately.

How to make a wooden fence with your own hands, see the following video.

In order for the fence to last as long as possible, it is necessary to properly care for it. Flame retardants and other substances, if treated with wood before installation, will protect it from decay, insects, sun rays.

Through the application various types paints can both enhance the quality of the tree and decorate the fence. Currently, paints not only give color, but also carry out a number of protective functions. Before painting, the surface must be thoroughly cleaned and dried, if possible degreased. If there are traces of the old coating, they must be removed with a scraper or a stiff brush.

Most often, staining is done with a brush, less often with an airbrush. It is necessary to paint along the fibers, at least in 2 layers in case of primary painting. If you need to update the paint, one layer is enough. It is better not to start this kind of work in heat, rain or wind.

It must be remembered that not a single, even the most potent remedy, will always work. Therefore, the regularity of processing should become the rule for caring for the fence.

There are several effective formulations, for example:

  • Toplasur Belinka. Suitable for all types of wood. It is not subject to tinting, it is available in ready-made shades. Helps the material withstand adverse weather conditions.
  • Holzlasur Gel JOBI. It has the property of repelling water, it adheres well to the surface. Prevents the development of wood diseases (fungus, rot and others). Translucent.
  • Pinotex ultra. It has the same properties as the composition above. However, it is opaque, subject to tinting.
  • Tikkurila valtti color extra. About 40 shades, protects from direct sunlight and precipitation.
  • Olympus Omicron. Protects against factors such as mold, insects, moisture, UV. Has a small consumption, economical. Is tinted.

To extend the life of the fence during the construction period, the following conditions must be met:

  • make sure that there are no anthills or overgrown bushes in the area where the fence is planned to be installed;
  • impregnate the boards with antiseptics before starting installation;
  • after finishing it, prime the entire surface; choose a warm day for this when the tree dries;
  • the primer should be made with paint, which contains a lot of natural oils.

To provide additional protection to the fence, upper part fence, a visor is installed, which is attached to additional slats. This will protect the fence from precipitation. It can be either a visor made of wood, or made of metal or metal-plastic. The color can be either tone-on-tone or contrast with the fence, depending on the general intention of the owner. The shape of the ridge can be different - either an angle, or a semicircular, or in the form of the letter P.

Constant removal of excess grass is necessary to protect the bottom of the fence. The more it grows near the fence, the higher the level of moisture, and this, in turn, can lead to decay. To avoid this, after the grass is removed, gravel can be poured.

Beautiful examples and options

Below are options for different wooden fences - for a private house, cottage, garden. Even in this small sample, you can see how diverse wood can be, harmoniously adapting to any style and side by side with any other material.

  • Massive "antique" fences give solidity and status.
  • Original wooden picket fence. The simple and elegant version of the lattice looks great on concrete foundation. It is thanks to concrete that the proximity to the lawn does not cause wood decay.

  • And you can make a wicker fence made of hazel. An interesting wattle variant is an original companion for a concrete platform.
  • horizontal fence from boards, arranged according to the wattle principle, a very interesting specimen. The upper metal bar in the shape of the letter U reliably protects the wood from precipitation.

  • Slab fence on a concrete foundation. A great example of how expensive it is to serve cheap material. Due to the tight fit of the boards to each other, an intricate pattern has developed on the canvas, and the ridge-bar on top protects from the destructive environmental factors.
  • Antique wooden fence in country style with imitation of rope stitches. Deliberately simple technique at the same time looks very unusual.

  • A wooden fence with brick pillars looks very massive. The construction is strong and durable. The concrete base gives additional solidity.
  • And here is this inexpensive, original and attractive design: a fence made of wood (Euro fence) on false poles.

  • Gabions are containers made of metal or plastic nets. The solution is innovative, unhackneyed and attractive in appearance. Suitable both for combination with other material in the fence canvas, and for self use- for zoning space.

Features of installing a wooden fence for a summer residence with your own hands

A strong fence around the house is an important necessity. A high fence not only protects property, but creates a sense of psychological comfort.

Wooden fences have always been considered ideal option fences. They are made of pure environmental materials and are quite easy to use. self construction. Properly built and well maintained wooden fences can last up to four decades.

What are wooden fences

All products of this type can be divided into two large groups:

Considering wooden fences by design, the following options are available:

What kind of wood to make a fence

Experts advise using coniferous trees. It may larch or spruce, cedar, pine. It should be borne in mind that pine is not very durable. In principle, any type of wood is suitable for a wooden fence, the main thing is that it be of high quality. If you want to save money, then you can safely take spruce or pine. Before use, the wood must be well treated with an antiseptic with olive.

Preparing tools for mounting

We will need:

Do-it-yourself step-by-step construction of a wooden fence

Stage #1

Wooden pegs are taken about 60 cm in length. Everyone needs to be sharpened. Then the site plan is taken, and the pegs are hammered around the entire perimeter of the territory.

The distance between them should be in the region of two meters from each other.

Then the pegs must be looped with lacing. It needs to be well stretched.

Stage #2

It is necessary to determine the required height of the fence. It is important that it is not too high (because it can obscure the planting) or too low (so as not to put the site on display). Optimal the average height is considered to be 1.5-2.5 meters.

The boards are cut to the designated length. They will need to be processed on a grinding machine and made into a semicircular or triangular profile. If you need to save time, you can buy ready-made boards.

Stage 3

There comes a moment when the pegs are removed one at a time, and in their place a well is drilled with a depth of about 50-80 cm under the supports for the future fence. To make the work go faster, it is better to do it using a drill. If there is no access to the drill, then the holes can be made with an ordinary shovel.

Stage 4

Pre-prepared supports can now be dug into the ground. Bars can be with a section of 50 * 50 mm or 75 * 75 mm. It is necessary to install the bars strictly vertically, for great accuracy it is recommended to use a plumb line. The wells are covered with earth and compacted tightly. To consolidate the results of the work and make the fence durable, supports must be cemented.

Stage number 5

On top of each beam, a nail is hammered, and they are pulled together along the perimeter with a tightly stretched lacing. This must be done in order to level the fence.

Stage #6

The veins (section 10 * 2.5 cm) are attached to the beams with nails. They must be placed at the same distance from each other. This is done at a height of about 20-30 cm above the soil level. Nails must be right size to punch through the veins and protrude a few centimeters from the back. The protruding parts of the nails must be carefully bent.

Stage number 7

Boards prepared for the fence are nailed to the nails. If you want to make a deaf fence, then the boards are nailed end-to-end. You can also leave a small distance between them from one to five centimeters.

Wood fence painting and finishing

Installation steps wooden fence completed, but there is still a lot of work ahead. It is necessary to protect the wooden fence from bad weather and insects. For this, special measures are taken, in particular - processing and painting.

As a protective material, experts recommend using ordinary drying oil. This tool is common and available at its cost. If finances allow, then construction stores offers many options for stronger and more expensive wood protection.

After applied protective layer dry, you can start painting.

For this, special paints for wood are selected, which are presented in a wide range on modern construction markets. This combination: drying oil and special paint will protect the fence from the sun and moisture.

It is important! Painting a wooden fence should be repeated once every two, maximum three years.

Wooden fences have many advantages - they are environmental friendliness of the material and beautiful appearance, reliable protection and long service life. In order for the tree to fully reveal these qualities, you need to properly mount the fence and in without fail protect the wood with drying oil and paint.

How to extend the life of a wooden fence

For additional protection From rain and snow, many professionals recommend installing a special visor on the top of the fence. To do this, you will need to install special additional strips on which the visor can be attached.

Installing such a visor is a painstaking and time-consuming task, but the product can protect the tree from moisture as much as possible, and the appearance of the fence will become more original and individual.

To protect the bottom of the fence, you must constantly:

  • Remove excess grass. A lot of vegetation near the fence leads to high humidity. This can cause early rotting of the tree.
  • After removing excess grass, a thin layer of gravel is poured along the fence. This will allow excess moisture do not accumulate in this place.

How Extend the life of your wood fence still under construction:

  • Make sure that there are no anthills and large thickets in the installation site.
  • Impregnate the wood with special antiseptics even before the start of construction.
  • Upon completion of installation, coat the entire structure with a primer. This will strengthen the fence and provide excellent protection from adverse weather conditions. Priming can only be done in warm weather when the wood is completely dry.
  • An additional primer is done using paint, which includes natural oils. This doubles the strength of the material. A layer of oil paint should dry for about 24 hours before applying a second one. Then the material will be well impregnated.

When materials are prepared, there are tools as well free time, the construction of a wooden fence with your own hands is a matter that even a beginner in construction can do. But it is important not only to install the fence correctly, but also to provide it with constant care and protection. Then the wooden fence will last up to forty-five years.

  • stone;
  • polycarbonate and more.

They differ in quality, technical performance and cost. And the format itself depends only on your imagination. The grid will not protect from prying eyes, since it can only fence off something, and through the holes everything can be seen through. Modern popular materials are quite expensive and not everyone can afford. stone and brick fences look too bulky. heavy. Yes, and they are most often used for fences around large cottages and country houses.

If we talk about a wooden fence, then it is quite affordable, and besides, it looks beautiful. An indisputable advantage is that it can be built on your own.

When modern materials for fences appeared (for example, corrugated board, reinforced concrete), wooden fences began to be made less frequently. But still in recent times this trend has changed, and the tree is fighting back. After all, this material not only looks beautiful, but is also natural. Since there are no impurities of chemicals in the boards, and environmental friendliness today plays an important role.

Often, coniferous wood is used for the construction of wooden fences, namely: pine and cedar varieties. Such breeds have high performance moisture resistance, they resist decay processes well.

Benefits of building a wooden fence:

  1. financial availability;
  2. ease of operation - no special expensive equipment and skills are needed;
  3. does not require special care during operation, you only need to inspect it in a timely manner for damage and contamination;
  4. required for repair minimum investment means and forces;
  5. ease of updating the fence;
  6. durable and lightweight;
  7. looks exquisite.

All these facts indicate that it is more than realistic to create a fence cheaply and beautifully. For the correct construction of a wooden fence, you must follow the sequence of actions and have a little patience. But in the end, everyone can make a wooden fence in the country on their own, and then post a photo of the craft on the Internet.

The main advantage of wooden fences is, of course, its low price. When compared with fences made of metal or reinforced concrete, it is many times cheaper. Yes, wood is easy to work with. So even a novice can do it.

When it comes to appearance, wood has always been a noble material. Wood products always look presentable and aesthetically pleasing. In addition, such hedges are easy to change and decorate. Creating something unique is very simple, you just have to show imagination and creativity.

wooden fence design

On the practical side, the ease of repair pleases. Indeed, for partial replacement, you do not have to completely dismantle the entire fence structure, which greatly simplifies the whole process. After all, it would be inconvenient to replace one board to remove everything, along with the supports.

Despite such significant advantages, wooden fences have some nuances:

  1. wood, as a building material, requires more frequent and careful attention to itself than other materials. This includes painting, cleaning, impregnation with disinfectants;
  2. the operational period is relatively short - about 5-10 years (directly depends on how often it is looked after and repaired);
  3. high fire hazard, since the tree ignites very well and burns quickly;
  4. easily damaged by impact and mechanical influences;
  5. will not protect against unwanted annoying guests and robbers (unless you install an additional security system, which in our time does not hurt at all).

Of course, the nuances must be taken into account in the construction and use of the material. But in this case, the pros far outweigh the cons. Therefore, it is logical that wooden fences are so common throughout the country. Knowing the features of its construction, features of maintenance and repair, you can provide yourself beautiful protection yard for a long time.

Step by step construction of a wooden fence

If you don’t know how to make a wooden fence in the country with your own hands, then you just need to read the information below. Step-by-step detailed instructions will help you avoid mistakes and inaccuracies in your work, create a unique wooden fence that will be an excellent protection for your yard. Consider the principle of operation using the example of building a small fence, which is shown in the photo below.

Photo of a wooden fence

Wooden boards are used here, the cross section of which is 25 x 150 mm. Their length is two meters. Of course, you choose the length of the boards yourself, so it will be individual for everyone. The entire height of the finished fence will depend on the length of the boards. So, to build a fence, proceed to the first step of construction. Before you get started, stock up the right materials and tools:

  • long bars or logs;
  • planks, picket fence or boards made of wood;
  • posts or bars (necessary in order to create a support for the future fence);
  • rope twine;
  • pegs;
  • sand;
  • cement;
  • bitumen;
  • shovel;
  • manual or electric drill;
  • nails, screws.

Step 1.

Initially, you need to study the features of your land well and select optimal location for the location of the fence. After that, you need to stock up on pegs. Their length should be 60 cm. At one end they need to be pointed. Drive pegs into the ground around the entire perimeter of the site. The distance between them should be two meters. The last peg should be near the first. In other words, they need to be looped. At the end, stretch the rope with string on pegs. The rope must be well taut. So you get the layout of the future picket fence.

The location of the peg along the perimeter of the territory

Step 2

Need to choose optimal height future fence. When calculating the height, rely on the fact that:

  • too low fence provides good review your neighbors and all passers-by;
  • too much high fence obscures plantings that are located in the yard.

It is better to choose average height indicators. Most often you can find fences, the height of which is in the range of 1.5 - 2.5 m. Having decided on the height, you need to cut the boards of the desired length. Also, to save time, you can order their cutting when buying material.

Before starting construction, the picket fence must be processed using a grinder or conventional drill(install the sanding attachment on it). To create curly or semicircular shapes, they are fixed on the machine and cut down to the desired parameters. This will save you money, because finished fence boards cost an order of magnitude higher than ordinary raw ones.

Step 3

It is necessary to take out the pegs one by one, and make wells in place of the holes formed. Their depth should be at least 50 cm. Support elements for the fence will later be installed in these wells. To make wells, take an electric drill or a manual one (but it will take longer to work with it).

Step 4

The prepared support elements must be installed in the created wells. For these purposes, you can use various materials: wooden beams, iron posts, and so on. It is better to take wooden bars, the cross section of which is 5 x 5 cm or 7.5 x 7.5 cm.

The supports must be installed in the ground, but be careful that their position is strictly vertical. Use a plumb line or level to control. After installation, you need to fill the hole with earth and at the same time tamp it well. To make the fence on your land as strong as possible, the supports can be concreted or cemented. After all, the reliability and general condition of the fence directly depends on how firmly the supporting elements are installed.

Installation of fence posts

Step 5

To level the fence in height, you need to loop the top. To do this, a nail is hammered into each support. Then, with the help of a rope, tightly tighten all the bars into a pile.

Step 6

The next step is to install the veins. For this, wooden boards are used. It is better to take a section of 100 x 25 mm. The veins must be arranged so that they are at the same distance from each other. Their height should be about 20 - 30 cm above the ground. Veins are attached to the beams with screws or nails. The main thing is that their size allows you to break through the vein through the entire thickness and protrude from the back side by two to three centimeters. Those parts of the fasteners that protrude outward should be carefully bent so that they do not interfere.

Vein installation

Step 7

Using nails or screws of a suitable size, you need to install the prepared fence boards yourself. How to do this is up to you. There are various options:

  • Classic fence. This species is most often found in the vastness of our country. This design consists of a log (laid longitudinally) and vertical support posts.

Classic wooden fence

  • Lattice. It can be created on the basis of a rectangular or square frame. The fence itself resembles sections. Under right angle rails are attached to the frame. And already the second layer is installed pillars (perpendicular). This is what creates the grid effect. finished fence looks quite interesting, and provides full ventilation.

Lattice-style fence

Ladder. This is a variant of a double-sided wooden fence. It's pretty easy to create. It is necessary to attach the vertical logs to the longitudinal ones. And then attach the boards so that they overlap.

Wooden fence-ladder

  • Chess. It resembles the classic version of the fence, but the difference is that the crate does not fit one after the other, but in a checkerboard pattern. Having built such a fence in your home, you will maintain full ventilation and well hide the yard from prying eyes;

Fence-chess

  • Vertical fence. It is most often made for fencing small areas, such as: a flower bed, beds and other markings in the yard. His the main task protect plantings from raids by pets;
  • Monolithic or deaf: the boards are nailed tightly to each other. In this case, you need to nail the boards end-to-end;

Deaf wooden fence

  • Palisade: can be replaced wooden planks on rails of small thickness (section 20 x 50 mm).

Step 8

On this, the manufacture of a wooden fence comes to an end. After installation, take time to protect the fence. After all, he will have to withstand changing weather conditions and other external factors.

It is necessary to carefully process the entire fence with drying oil and allow to dry. After the drying oil is completely dry, you need. It is better to use frost-resistant acrylic paint. The painting itself is best done in two layers. When the first dries well, cover with the second. Such simple actions will help you keep the fence safe and sound for more than one year.

Design solutions

Upon completion of the work, everyone wants to make the fence a unique creation and somehow decorate it. In fact, wood is such a versatile material that even unpainted looks good. Some prefer to simply paint the fence using a solid color. Others draw patterns and ornaments that always attract the attention of passers-by.

Fence with a painted pattern

It should be noted that by itself wooden beam good for any design landscape solution. Moreover, you can always change its design style. Often you can find fences that are not painted, but simply varnished. This gives national flavor and zest.

Wooden fence in national style

Do you want to make a wooden fence in the country, as in the photo? Then do not think that the work is over. Like any other structure, fences require attention. Therefore, you need to constantly inspect it. The better you take care of it, the longer it will serve you. The following recommendations must be followed:

You should not start replacing boards or timber in case of failure, because this way the fence will deteriorate even faster. Timely repair and correct operation will make your fence not only beautiful, but also durable.

To hide your yard and garden from the encroachments of other people's pets, the views of passers-by and create comfort in the yard, a wooden fence will come in handy more than ever, which you can make with your own hands without much effort. It is easy to create and easy to care for. And as a result, you will get a beautiful and affordable fence that will delight you and your family. The content of the article:

A wooden fence is a great solution for suburban area. Any owner, relying on his own imagination, can make a completely exclusive fence due to the properties of wood and the many options for using it for such a purpose. How to make a wooden fence without resorting to high costs you will learn from our article.

Types and features of wooden fences

Depending on the height, the fences are divided into three categories: low height up to 0.8 m; medium - up to 1.5 m; high - more than 1.5 m.

In appearance, wooden fences can be divided into several types:

  • Fence. It is a canvas made up of battens nailed to horizontal girders and fixed between support pillars. Such a fence is often used for decorative purposes, as well as to protect the site from the street and neighbors.
  • . It consists of processed boards nailed together closely, overlapping or with gaps to the girders located horizontally between the supports. Among wooden fences, plank fences are considered the most reliable.
  • Palisade. This is a fence consisting of a row of logs dug vertically into the ground. Logs can be located in relation to each other closely or with gaps. To strengthen such a fence from its inside, the logs are connected with nails by transverse planks. The consumption of wood material during the construction of a log fence of a garden plot is often unjustified.
  • Wattle. For giving such a fence is a beautiful and successful solution. It is made of small height, using willow or birch branches for weaving.
Which type of wooden fence to choose depends on the preferences of the owner of the site. But usually high structures separate the perimeter of the entire site, low fences divide the courtyard into zones, and fences of medium height are erected on the border with friendly neighbors or with the intention of keeping pets.

Regardless of the type, the design of any wooden fence consists of three main elements: supporting pillars, transverse girders and material for filling its sections - boards, rods, slabs, etc.

Advantages and disadvantages of a wooden fence

The main advantages of wooden fences are the light weight of wood, which facilitates its transportation, and affordable cost. The simple design of such fences allows them to be erected independently.

Wooden fences are perfectly combined with the green landscape of the site, stone house or a wreck. With a little imagination, your wooden fence can be made absolutely unique.

The disadvantage of building wooden fences can be called short term their services. Wood is susceptible to rotting and damage by tree insects. Not in the best way affect her fire and precipitation.

But it is not difficult to deal with such problems today. There are many different protective compounds such as antiseptics, stains and flame retardants. The lumber or logs processed by them last much longer.

Wooden fence installation technology

Even the most ordinary wooden fences can be made beautiful with proper installation and finishing. The installation of a wooden fence consists of three steps: mounting the support posts, attaching the cross girders and nailing the picket fence. Instead of a picket fence and runs in such fences, a slab, a palisade made of logs or wicker weaving can be used. Consider the basic principle of installing a wooden fence.

Preparatory work

They include the choice of fencing design, design, preparation of materials, tools and marking the perimeter of the fence on the ground.

You need to start work by determining the type of planned fence. The easiest way is to build a picket fence. If such a fence is decorative, it can be recruited from thin strips with a diagonal arrangement. Many owners like a solid slab fence that imitates a palisade.

The top of the fence sections can also be done in different ways. It can be curly, convex or concave. In any case, before starting work, you need to clearly understand the appearance and design features planned fence. Several options for its sections can be depicted on paper and at the same time determine the need for a plinth under them. Such a fence will be combined, that is, consisting of wood and stone, but in appearance it is no worse than usual.

In order to calculate the required amount of materials for outdoor fencing, it is necessary to draw a plan of the land plot on a scale. Knowing the dimensions of the sides of its perimeter, it is easy to calculate the length of the future fence. At its corners and the entrance group, it is necessary to plan the installation of support pillars, and every 2 m - intermediate posts, which will provide the fence structure with the required rigidity. Having all these data and determining the height of the fence, you can calculate the amount of material.

After performing the calculations on paper, you need to prepare the tools necessary for work and proceed to marking the fence on the ground. The set of tools should include: pegs, nylon cord, tape measure and hydraulic level, shovel, ax, hacksaw, garden drill, hammer and nails. For the installation of fence posts and waterproofing devices, in addition to the basic materials, you will need roofing material, bituminous mastic, M400 concrete, crushed stone and river sand.

The marking of the fence on the ground must begin with the determination of the installation points for the corner posts. These places must be marked with pegs driven into the ground. After that, between them it is necessary to pull and fasten the nylon cord, and then mark the points of location of the intermediate racks with pegs. Thanks to the cord, they will all be on the same line of the side of the perimeter of the site, and after installation, the wooden fence will turn out to be even.

When the markup is completed, it is necessary to prepare the supporting fence posts for installation. At the request of the owner of the site, they can be made of rolled metal, timber or logs. When choosing the first option, plugs cut from a metal sheet must be welded to the top of all pipes. This will prevent moisture from precipitation from getting inside the racks and causing them to oxidize. underground part supports should be covered bituminous mastic, and the rest - primed and painted with anti-corrosion enamel.

If the option is selected wooden poles, for starters, it is recommended to sharpen their top. This will prevent rain water from entering the rack through its end. Moisture will simply roll down the support without penetrating into her body. As for the thickness of the logs or timber for the supports, something in between should be chosen here. Too thick supports in the fence look ridiculous, and too thin will not have sufficient strength. Before installation, it is desirable to burn the poles on a fire, and then their lower part, which will be underground, must be covered with bitumen and wrapped with two layers of roofing material.

In the places marked with pegs, holes should be dug for supports. Their depth is directly related to the height of the planned fence. With a height of the aerial part of the support less than a meter, the hole can be made 0.8 m deep. Further, respectively: for a support up to 1.5 m - 1 m, over 1.5 m - the depth of the hole is 1/2 column. The width of the hole must be such that a distance of at least 0.2 m is maintained between its edge and the installed post.

If the poles are metal, it is convenient to make holes for them using a garden drill. If you stick tape on it, it will be possible to high precision control the depth of the recesses in the process of working with this tool.

Installation of wooden fence posts

Before installing the supporting pillars, the bottom of the prepared holes must be covered with crushed stone of the middle fraction. In this case, when the soil freezes in winter, the fence posts will be able to maintain their original position. The walls of the dug holes are recommended to be covered with roofing material all around, having built a kind of formwork out of it.

The installation of fence supports in the holes should be carried out using a plumb line. After installation in a strictly vertical position, the racks must be temporarily fixed with stops. If the height of the supports is less than one and a half meters, it is enough to fill the sinuses of the holes with bricks, rubble and tamp everything. With a fence height of more than one and a half meters, holes with installed supports it is worth pouring concrete M400. In order to reduce its consumption, 2/3 of each hole can be covered with stones or broken bricks.

If you plan to install a combined fence with a plinth, the installation of its supports should be done differently. Instead of holes along the marking lines, you need to dig a trench meter deep. Its bottom should be covered with rubble, the walls should be covered with a waterproofing film, and installed outside wooden formwork, which should form a base, and therefore rise above the top of the trench by 0.5 m.

After that, support poles can be installed in the trench and reinforcing cages. The bottom of the supports, which will be in concrete, must be treated with bitumen. Their installation should be carried out using a plumb line and building level. The vertical position of the racks must be fixed with stops made of bars.

When everything is ready, the formwork, together with the trench, must be poured with M400 concrete. If you prepare the mixture yourself, you will need a concrete mixer, as well as cement, sand and gravel in a ratio of 1: 2: 3.

After pouring, you need to wait until the concrete hardens. If the supports were installed in the holes, this period will be a little more than a week. The hardening of the base will take almost a month. After the concrete has gained the required strength, it is possible to clad the racks with brick or stone.

Fastening girders and other elements of a wooden fence

These fence parts are bars or slats with a small cross section that connect the posts and form the frame of the span between them. When erecting a wooden fence, each run must be attached to the center of the support, and when installing the next span, the new run should be joined to the already fixed bar. Runs can be nailed over a wooden support, or you can cut it into it seat for a more durable fit.

In order for the fence structure to be strong, transverse girders can be nailed, placing them in a checkerboard pattern and excluding their joining on one support. The thickness of the bars of the runs should be selected depending on the thickness and weight of the lumber. The more massive it is, the stronger the runs should be.

Their location should be parallel to each other and perpendicular to the supports. Otherwise, the view of the fence may be spoiled. This will be especially noticeable when installing a picket fence with gaps. Installation of runs should be constantly monitored using a tape measure and a building level.

If a horizontal arrangement of boards is planned in a wooden fence, then the runs must be connected with vertical guides that will bear the load from the spans. Attach runs to wooden poles recommended with galvanized screws. If nails are used, they should not be driven into the wood vertically, but slightly at an angle.

To install the fence in a vertical position, it is recommended to make a template that will facilitate the work on even fastening boards. The template is a rail with a width corresponding to the distance between the picket fence strips. If it is made T-shaped, it will be possible to additionally control the height of fixation of the pickets.

If in a wooden fence the picket fence will be located diagonally, you need to make a frame from the planks in accordance with the size of the span. The frame should be fixed on supports, and then a picket fence should be nailed to it.

In the manufacture of wattle, the support poles have a small cross section and are mounted relative to each other at short distances of 40-60 cm. Before installing such a fence, the vine from which it is to be woven should be soaked in water for a couple of days. After that, it will be easier to work with this material. Wattle with a horizontal or vertical arrangement of branches of the vine is very beautiful and resembles a traditional village fence.

The fence from the palisade can be imitated or real. In the first case, this is a slab nailed to the runs. His boards need to be placed close. Much less often, the palisade is real. For its manufacture, pointed logs need to be dug into the ground. Such a fence is durable, but requires a lot of logs.

Caring for a wooden fence

Due to the fact that wood from constant exposure to moisture can gradually rot, a wooden fence needs periodic maintenance. It consists in the treatment of boards and supports with antiseptic compounds and the coloring of all wooden parts structures with waterproof enamels.

It is recommended to perform such work every year, preferably in the spring. Before the next painting, the old peeling enamel must be removed from the fence with a brush with a metal bristle. If it is white, it will have to be painted up to three times a year. Only in this case, such a fence will always look fresh.

How to make a wooden fence - look at the video:

Building a wooden fence with your own hands is an absolutely simple matter. However, after its completion, such a design must be constantly paid attention to. Without it, she will become vulnerable, and with good maintenance she will delight everyone with her appearance and protection from many misfortunes for a long time.

It is quite fair to say that the first thing to do when arranging a personal plot is a fence. Its main functions are obvious - protecting the territory from unauthorized entry and prying eyes. But what if not a fence attaches to the site near country house individuality? Therefore, when building a fence, it is important not only to follow the technology, but also to try to make it fit as harmoniously as possible into the environment surrounding your home. After all, in the end, this is what will provide genuine home comfort.

Wooden fence: main advantages

Wood - classic solution to build a fence. Despite all the benefits modern materials- corrugated board, chain-link mesh, euro picket fence, etc. - wooden picket fences are still in very high demand.

The advantages of the tree are obvious:

  • ecological cleanliness;
  • availability and relatively low cost;
  • ease of processing;
  • appearance aesthetics.

At the same time, this material also has a number of disadvantages, which mainly relate to its fragility. Therefore, if you decide to build a wooden fence around a country house, you have to properly take care that it lasts as long as possible. And at the same time, it did not lose either its appearance or protective properties.

To do this, even before the start of construction, it is necessary to cover all wooden elements antiseptic to protect against mold and decay. In addition, it does not hurt at all to impregnate them with a flame retardant in order to fire protection. Well, after completing the installation of a wooden fence, you will need to cover it with paint (preferably waterproof), stain or varnish.

The finish coating will significantly extend the life of your fence and reliably protect it from the sun, dampness, temperature extremes, pests and other negative operating factors.

We build a wooden fence with our own hands: where to start?

The start of any construction is laid in construction estimate. In your case, it will be extremely simple. After all, if you are going to build a fence yourself, all you need to do is choose the right materials, calculate their quantity and, of course, the cost.

It is noteworthy that if earlier a simple picket fence was meant by a wooden fence, today for those who want to build such a fence around their house, such a fence is available much more wide selection. First of all, we note that there are two main categories of wooden fences - solid and with clearance.

The most popular among both the first and second are such types of fences as:

Which one to choose is up to you. At the same time, it must be remembered that twice as much material will be used to build a solid fence than for a fence with a gap. On the other hand, the second option will not be able to hide what is happening in your yard from curious neighbors and passers-by. However, fences with a gap demonstrate higher wind resistance at a similar canvas height to solid ones. But in any case, the choice will depend only on your financial capabilities and aesthetic preferences.

Site plan

It is best to start construction with a work plan. Only in this way will you be able to adequately assess its volume, your financial capabilities and the time it will take to build a fence around the site. To do this, it is necessary to measure the perimeter of the latter, as well as determine the location of the gate section and the gate. If you want to build a fence at a low cost, the most suitable option are point supports- the foundation in this case is not required for the construction of the fence.

When counting the number of support pillars, it should be remembered that they are installed no further than 3 m from each other. Otherwise, the transverse logs will begin to sag over time, which will lead to a loss of strength of the fence.

Support posts for gates and wickets, as well as corner supports, should be more massive than purlins, since in fact the entire fence structure rests on them. As the first, it is best to choose a metal profiled pipe with a section of 6x6 cm, and the 4x4 cm profile will perfectly cope with the role of the latter.

After taking measurements, it is necessary to draw a construction plan. It will help you visually assess the amount of work and calculate the optimal fence configuration, of course, taking into account all the features of the site being equipped - elevation changes, the presence of obstacles, etc.

Purchase of materials and collection of tools

Suppose that you chose a wooden picket fence 1.5 m high as the main material, the width and thickness of which are 15x2.5 cm. To ensure the wind resistance of the fence and its overall reliability, the installation depth of the support pillars should be equal to a third of the height. In this case, the lower edge of the support should be located 20 cm below the soil freezing line. If on your site the latter does not exceed 80 cm, then the height of the support will be 2.5 m.

In areas with heaving or weak sandy soils, support pillars will have to be butted. On strong soil, it will be possible to get by with a pile or driven installation method. The supports of high and heavy fences installed on normal soils will have to be concreted.

After you have decided on the basic materials, it remains to buy them and deliver them to the construction site. Along the way, you need to remember to purchase everything else that may be required to install the fence - expendable materials(nails, bolts, drills, emery or grinding wheels, antiseptic and flame retardant, stain, varnish or paint, etc.) and, of course, a tool.

To build a wooden fence you will need:

  • roulette;
  • level;
  • a hammer;
  • axe;
  • hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • chisel;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver;
  • kapron cord;
  • shovel and crowbar.

You should not delay the process of building a fence - it is better to start it with all necessary materials. As for the tool, what you don’t have can be borrowed from neighbors or acquaintances already in the process of work.

Construction of wooden fences: an algorithm of actions

The optimal period for arranging the site around a country house is summer, but the fence can be built in spring and autumn - the main thing is that the soil is not frozen and dry. Before starting work, the area along the fence installation line must be carefully cleared and, if possible, leveled.

The construction of the fence is carried out in several stages:

  1. Site marking.
  2. Installation of supports.
  3. Installation of the picket fence on the transverse logs.
  4. Installation of cross bars on supports.
  5. Finishing of metal and wooden surfaces.

To mark the future fence, you will need a tape measure, metal or wooden pegs and a nylon cord. Initially, the installation points for the support pillars for the gate and the gate, as well as the corner supports, are indicated. Here, taking into account the external dimensions of the supports, pegs are driven in, which are connected by a nylon cord - it allows you to control the linearity of the fence.

Installation of support poles

This is the most time-consuming stage of construction. Each support, or rather the quality of its installation, requires the closest attention. After all, the reliability of the entire fence directly depends on this.

Backfilling of support pillars is performed as follows:

  1. With the help of a crowbar and a shovel, holes of the required depth are dug, the diameter of which should be approximately three times the diagonal section of the supports.
  2. At the bottom of the pit, approximately 5 cm in height, sand is poured, which is poured with water and carefully compacted.
  3. A pole is installed at the bottom of the pit and a mixture of crushed stone and sand is poured on 20-30 cm, which must be properly compacted.
  4. During the installation of each of the supports, it is necessary to carefully monitor the observance of the correct level.
  5. If sand makes up a significant part of the soil or it is heaving, partial concreting must be performed. To do this, pour 2-10 cm of sand into the pit, compact it and cover it with concrete to a depth of approximately -10 cm from the soil line. The remaining hole is covered with a mixture of crushed stone and sand and carefully rammed.
  6. On strong soils, backfilling is carried out up to the soil line. If desired, you can concrete the top 10 cm of the pit.

Fence fabric assembly

To create sections of the fence, you should prepare transverse logs and a picket fence. The first are performed individually along the length of the span. In the case of a fence with a height of 1.5 m, there will be 2 crossbars on each of the sections (with a significant height, 3 or more transverse logs are installed to ensure the stability of the fence structure). Logs should be placed symmetrically with respect to the middle of the fence canvas but not more than 20-30 cm from the top and bottom of the picket fence.

If the crossbars are wooden, it remains to lay the boards and strengthen them with nails or self-tapping screws. The picket fence is attached to the profile pipe with bolts - for this you need to drill in the logs through holes. You can also install boards on the crossbars after attaching the latter to the supports - it's up to you to decide how it will be more convenient.

Wooden crossbars are mounted by means of bolted connections, but for this, to metal support pillars on desired height you need to weld special ears. Lagi out profile pipe installed by welding.

After mounting the fence to the crossbars, the section is mounted on supports - and so on to the bitter end. The last thing to do is to cover the wooden elements of the fence with varnish, stain or paint, and the metal ones - primed and painted.
