Make a corner visor. How to make a beautiful canopy over the porch with your own hands, photo instructions. Metal single-sided visor

To make a do-it-yourself canopy over a polycarbonate porch, it is not necessary to have rich experience in finishing or installation work- enough desire and ability to use different tools. Thanks to advanced technologies, the assembly and installation process of such a structure is greatly facilitated, so that it can be used. In addition, polycarbonate is a material that is convenient for cutting, it bends well, weighs little and looks attractive.

Far from alone home craftsman cherishes the dream of a beautiful visor made over the front door on their own. But not everyone knows how to make such a canopy and what is required for this. But with this, in fact, 99% of men and even women can handle it.

What tools do I need to use to assemble and install

Manual hydraulic pipe bender with a set of nozzles

The selection of tools depends on the shape of the visor and the materials from which it is planned to be built:

  • for single-pitched and double-pitched straight visors, this tool is useless, but if you prefer the smooth rounded outlines of the structure, then you will have to purchase or rent a pipe bending machine (manual or electric);
  • the supporting frame is most often made of a metal profile, so here you need an angular Grinder- grinder with cutting disc;
  • polycarbonate can also be cut with a grinder, but it is better to do it with an electric jigsaw using a metal file;
  • to fix the structure on the wall, holes are drilled with a puncher, in extreme cases, with an electric drill, where there is a shock function;
  • it is most convenient to screw polycarbonate to the frame cordless drill(with a screwdriver) - the power cord does not interfere with work;
  • electric welding is used to assemble the bearing part;
  • with the help of a building square, corners are maintained;
  • mark the place for installation with conventional, water or laser level, using a tape measure and a pencil (marker).

Preparation of materials for the construction of the visor

Huge selection polycarbonate colors

For self-assembly of the visor, you will need two basic materials - polycarbonate and a hollow metal profile, and for fasteners - self-tapping screws and anchors:

  • there are two kinds sheet polycarbonate- cellular and monolithic, but there is no need for honeycombs on the panel for the visor - they are needed for insulation, therefore, a cast sheet is suitable here;
  • panels are transparent, matte and colored, and in addition, sheets on one side can be protected from ultraviolet radiation;
  • the bearing part is most often assembled from a hollow metal profile 20 × 20 mm or a pipe of the same diameter;
  • the joint between the canopy and the wall is sealed with sealant or mounting foam;
  • you can make a base of wood - for this you need bars 50 × 50 mm;
  • to fix the supporting frame to the wall, anchor dowels 150-200 mm long are needed. But here it is important that the dowel is expansion plastic, but not umbrella (molly);
  • the polycarbonate sheet is attached to the profiles with white or colored self-tapping screws with a rubberized press washer.

Lightweight metal visor

Construction and installation of different types of frames

Of course, there are many more options, but all of them can be divided into two categories - straight and curved. Straight lines should include a single-pitched, gable or box-shaped shape, and bent ones - all the rest, where there are smooth, rounded lines.

different forms for porch awnings

Production of a straight-type frame from a metal profile

To make a straight polycarbonate visor with your own hands and install it above the porch, you first need to measure the length and width of the site - the canopy must cover it. If the porch is small, then the canopy can be made larger in area. But here it is important not only to close part of the entrance from precipitation, but also to preserve or even improve the exterior of the building, and size is not the least important in this.

Frame for arranging a visor over the porch

Alternatively, a canopy can be made with a perimeter of 15000 × 1000 mm, therefore, you need to cut off:

  • two metal profiles of 1460 mm each (parallels);
  • two 1000 mm each (horizontal);
  • two 700mm each (vertical);
  • two 1000 mm each (struts).

When cutting a profile, it is better to make the struts and the upper ends of the verticals at an angle, so the joint will turn out to be tight, therefore, more attractive. For assembly, it is most convenient to lay out the parts on the ground, and carry out welding work using a building square or level. This is necessary so that the perimeter under the roof turns out to be rectangular (with angles of 90ᵒ).

If there is no building square, then the profile is placed on the ground and leveled using stands from any material at hand. Then a vertical is applied to it and welded, guided by the level during operation. To make the correct oblique cut, one metal profile is placed on another at the desired slope, marked and cut along this line.

Grinding grinder welding joints

A good welder makes a clean seam, but after he beats the scale, there will still be a scar that will be noticeable even after painting. Therefore, all welded joints should be sanded - for this they use the same cutting disc with which profiles were cut. After processing, the joints are checked for strength (for fracture), so as not to accidentally weaken it by stripping the scar.

Construction of a simple curved frame

A simple curved canopy

The frame for a curved visor can be made according to the sketch above, and for this you need to cut pieces of a metal profile with a section of 20 × 20 mm:

  • 2 profiles of 1900 mm (parallels);
  • 2 - 2000 mm each (arcs);
  • 2 - 910 mm each (horizontal);
  • 2 - 130 mm each (triangular truss);
  • 2 - 800 mm each (triangular truss);
  • 2 - 940 mm each (triangular truss);
  • cutting metal profile for spacers.

AT this case the base of the polycarbonate visor will be, although curved, but not very difficult to perform, and assembly should begin with the manufacture of two radius trusses. For this, of course, it is better to use a nozzle with the desired rounding, and if the machine is factory-made, then the kit will probably contain the desired radius. Otherwise, you will have to bend the profile by eye, and this will significantly complicate the task, since you will need to make two completely identical elements.

But even if there is no suitable nozzle, you can make two identical arcs, only here you should be very careful and careful.

  1. After bending, lay a straight piece on the ends of the arc and mark the cut points to ensure a good fit.
  2. When both trusses are welded, before welding the lintels (struts), lay them on top of each other to compare in symmetry. In case of obvious discrepancies, it is better to redo the design.
  3. After assembling two arcuate trusses it remains only to weld triangular trusses to it, horizontals and the frame will be ready for installation above the door.
  4. If the support on the wall from the triangles is not enough, then you can add verticals with struts, as was done for a flat shed canopy above the porch. Profiles for this can be cut to the same dimensions as a direct canopy, and all welding and grinding work takes place in the same order.

Assembling a wooden frame for a canopy

single slope option wooden base

The straight frame is also assembled from wooden slats, and the dimensions of the parts for assembling the structure do not have to be changed, leaving them similar to the metal profile. In the photo above, a crate of slats was additionally made, but this is more for decoration - monolithic polycarbonate can be screwed on without it. Only on the frame.

You can complicate the task a little by making a canopy over the porch with two slopes, thereby making the exterior design of the building more attractive (this option is especially good for wooden buildings). Collected here whole system of three pairs rafter legs, but for a polycarbonate coating, it is quite possible to get by with two pairs. It is also not necessary to do bent struts, although this is how it will turn out, if you can, then do it.

The assembly of wooden profiles is carried out using self-tapping screws, but, as you can see, the profile here is different, not only 50 × 50 mm. The choice of rails depends more on the desire of the assembler and the availability of material - there are no restrictions here and the main requirements are strength and attractiveness. All wooden details it is desirable to treat with an antiseptic to increase the operational resource.

Attaching the frame to the wall

For convenience, they usually first attach the visor frame to the wall and only then mount the roofing material on it, but if you do it differently, then the technology will not be violated. To fix the canopy up to 2 × 2, four anchor dowels are enough - if the plaster on the wall is dense, then you can take a length of 150 mm, but if its density is in doubt, then use 200 mm bolts.

Anchor plastic dowel with bolt

If the visor is made with sidewalls, then the wall parallel is divided into three parts - these will be places for fasteners (two points will turn out), but when triangular trusses, shifted closer to the middle, perform the function of verticals, then the horizontal fasteners are moved to the edges. To mount the supporting frame, first beat off the line according to the level, and then, applying it to the wall, mark the places for the holes on the profiles so that there are no coincidences with the seam brickwork.

It's more convenient if Painting works carry out before installation load-bearing structure- so the wall will not get dirty when painting the profile. If, while drilling a hole in the wall, the drill accidentally shifted to the side, this is easy to fix by welding - on the profile, the hole expands in the right direction, and the excess is simply welded. For convenience and rigidity of fastening, washers are substituted under the bolt head.

Polycarbonate roof fixing

to metal and wooden profiles polycarbonate is fastened with self-tapping screws with a rubberized (for temperature deformation) press washer. But in cases where the panels are colored, you can use self-tapping screws that were originally intended for corrugated board - they are shown in the photo. If a protective film (against UV radiation) is applied to the panel, then it must be with outer side(top) visor.

Self-tapping screws with multi-colored heads

A self-tapping screw cannot pierce the metal profile that is used for the frame, therefore, before screwing in the metal, a hole is made 0.5-0.7 mm smaller than the diameter of the screw. For wooden blocks, pre-drilling is not required. The step between the fastening points is left no more than 30-40 cm to make the coating resistant to wind loads.

In conclusion, it should be said that when installing a do-it-yourself visor over a polycarbonate porch, it is better to make the panel area a few centimeters more area frame. A 3-5 cm wide hem on the front and sides will look very good and will not hurt it snow load. And the joint between the canopy and the wall is sealed with sealant or, in extreme cases, with mounting foam - this is for surfaces with large relief.

If you have any doubts about your knowledge and strength, you need to turn to professionals. Sometimes this approach is cheaper.

Advantages of awnings:

  • Weather protection. The presence of a canopy guarantees long term porch services, the material of which is especially susceptible to destruction.
  • The correct design of the canopy allows you to diffuse the light over the porch in the way you need.
  • The presence of a canopy gives the porch completeness and a more aesthetic appearance.

The material of the canopy can be different - metal, glass, ondulin, slate or wood. But the most optimal and stable will be polycarbonate. Other materials exposed to precipitation quickly become unusable and require frequent repairs.

In addition, polycarbonate, due to its transparency, allows Sun rays through itself, contributing to the drying of the porch after the rains. This material is resistant to mechanical damage than glass, for example, cannot differ.

It is important that polycarbonate does not support combustion. Its flexibility allows you to make the visor not only gentle, but also arched. Heat and cold air do not pass through polycarbonate.

From the aesthetic side, there is a huge plus of the material, since its color range is huge. Multi-colored polycarbonate does not fade over time.

Varieties of polycarbonate canopies:

We make a canopy:

First, the shape of the visor is selected. If the canopy is planned to be arched, then it is worth remembering that polycarbonate can be bent to a radius of 0.7 m. With a smaller radius, the polycarbonate sheet will break in half.

The installation of the visor is carried out in summer time or in a warm room.

Polycarbonate is cut with a grinder saw or hand saw, its edges do not crumble, but are difficult to mechanical impact. Sheets are attached to the frame with self-tapping screws with rubber pads.

The ideal installation option is the simultaneous construction of a house and a visor, since in desired wall you can attach fasteners for a canopy.

If the house is old, then lugs will be required for fastening, metal corner or a support beam that is located above the entrance.

It is better to take pipes for the frame with a rectangular section of 2 * 2 cm. They are either welded together or connected with aluminum rivets.

To give the desired bend to the polycarbonate, cuts are made in it every 4-5 cm, calmly bending to the desired arc.

Support poles for reliability must be concreted into the ground. The concrete sets for about three days, so until this time the visor is not installed on the supports.

The lower parts of the poles must be protected with an anti-corrosion coating and waterproofing.

The price of polycarbonate visors over the entrance to a private house

Polycarbonate visors are very common, so find them in major cities Russia will not be difficult.

Visors are sold in online stores from 3500 r to 35 000 r. Of course, it all depends on the size and shape.

Someone sets not the price for a specific visor, but the cost of work per square meter.

It is worth remembering that the final cost of a polycarbonate canopy includes consumable, manufacturing, delivery, installation services.

Closed canopies over the porch - photo gallery

The closed canopy is a solid roof over the porch. It does not allow moisture and snow to pass through, protecting the entrance to the house.

The material and design for canopies can be very different.

Material:

Types of structures:

Canopy supports are in the form of poles or brackets on the wall of the house. The former can be placed directly on the porch, attached with special anchors, or cemented with a sand and gravel cushion.

Wooden supports are the lightest and most beautiful, you can make real works of art from them by cutting. But such material is necessarily subject to antiseptic and fire-fighting treatment.

Brackets are the most popular mounting option. They are usually made from profiled pipes.

Most beautiful view supports are forged brackets and poles. Their appearance gives the canopy a special flavor.

Do-it-yourself visors over the porch Types of canopies over the porch of a private house Polycarbonate fastening: thermal washers, profiles, polycarbonate canopy truss - calculation of how to make a polycarbonate roof with your own hands - video, photo How to make a carport from various materials do it yourself

It is quite possible to make a visor over the porch with your own hands, you just have to figure out what tools and materials are needed for this. The main purpose of the canopy over the roof or, as it is sometimes called, the canopy, is to protect the doors, the porch and the walls adjacent to the entrance from the effects of rain or snow.

Also, the visor serves as an addition to the design of the house, which, of course, draws attention in the first place. There are a lot of different different types structures that differ in shape, design, material, which, with certain skills and tools, can be made by hand.

Purpose

A visor or canopy is present in almost all houses and its main functions are as follows:

  • protection of entrance doors and porch from the effects of bad weather (rays of the sun, rain and snow);
  • creating comfortable conditions when opening the front door lock when it rains or snows;
  • aesthetic - with its appearance, the visor decorates the look of the house, and also complements the overall exterior of your home.

Requirements

In order for the design of the visor to last for a long time and not have to be changed literally in a year, the canopy must meet the following requirements:

  • it is important that the structure of the canopy, in addition to its weight, must also withstand the expected weight of snow, which, during precipitation, may be on it. With insufficient structural strength of the visor, it can break off at the same time, damaging the adjacent elements of the exterior or even the residents of the house;
  • the canopy should protect not only the front door to the house, but the entire porch;
  • it is necessary, when designing and implementing a canopy, to provide a system for collecting and draining water from precipitation;
  • the type of visor should be combined with the type and style of the porch of the house, the front door, and the roof.

Design Options

Marquis visor

Some of the most commonly used visor designs are as follows:

  • arched awning - considered the most economical and can be made in any size, depending on the wishes;
  • marquise - the semicircular shape of such a visor ensures the impossibility of accumulation on it of leaves and snow falling from trees;
  • domed canopy. Usually installed above single-leaf doors, if the door consists of two leaves, then an elongated visor is designed and made;
  • straight visor (with or without a valance). It is worth noting that it is often used for commercial premises, since its design allows you to mount outdoor advertising on a canopy;
  • lean-to. Outwardly, it looks like a three or a quadrilateral with or without a gap. This version of the canopy is considered one of the easiest to perform.

materials

Visor made of plastic

There are several options for materials for making a canopy, each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages:

  • polycarbonate. On the this moment is the most widely used material, which is inexpensive, durable, reliable, durable and has an attractive appearance. One of its advantages is the possibility of its execution in any desired color;
  • metal. Metal structures are also quite simple to make and are considered inexpensive compared to other materials. It should be understood that to work with such material you will need special tools for welding, riveting and joining sheets with the base of the canopy. One of the disadvantages of such a material is the need to apply an additional anti-corrosion layer on the metal;
  • corrugated board. Due to its low price and ease of use, it is considered one of the most popular materials. A significant disadvantage of corrugated board is its distortion when damaged (fallen stone, sediment in the form of hail);
  • lightweight plastic. The material is similar in appearance to polycarbonate and is distinguished by its lightness with simultaneous wear resistance and reliability of structures. It can also be made in any color required by the customer, or you can achieve the desired shade by gluing a special film onto the material;

Peak from a tile

  • bituminous and metal tiles. Canopies of them are constructed simultaneously with covering the roof of the building itself - in this case, the remnants of the used material can be put on the visor, which will help the owner of the house to significantly save money on equipment. This material can only be used if the shape and color of the material is completely identical - otherwise the design will look ridiculous. Of these two materials, the metal tile will be much heavier than the bituminous one, and during precipitation inside the structure, the noise of drops falling on the canopy will be heard;
  • artistic forging. Usually a forged frame is produced, which is subsequently covered with any of existing materials. The disadvantage is the high cost and heavy weight of the structure and, as a result, the need for a sufficiently strong fastening to prevent collapse;
  • wood. AT recent times Increasingly, wood is used to make canopies, as a high-quality, reliable and environmentally friendly pure material. Such a visor looks especially harmonious on houses made of wood, or having any structures made of this material in the exterior. An important point is that all materials must be treated with agents that prevent rotting and damage by insects. In addition, be sure wooden canopy cover waterproofing material(slate, plastic, etc.)

Manufacturing instructions

As an example of installing a canopy with our own hands, consider the option using polycarbonate material:

  1. A schematic drawing of the future canopy is created, indicating the main parameters and quantities - the length of the canopy, its width, as well as the angle of inclination of the slope. For better protection from falling precipitation, it is better to do the length and width of the visor with a margin, and the angle of inclination should ensure the rapid removal of snow and rain from the canopy.
  2. Materials are prepared and purchased: polycarbonate sheets, a profile for the frame itself, a grinder, a level, a welding machine, a drill, self-tapping screws, a screwdriver.
  3. Marking the fastening of the canopy support.
  4. Frame parts are made and welded.
  5. Attach to the frame additional elements to ensure structural strength.
  6. Install the frame and process it by special means from corrosion.
  7. Polycarbonate of the required size is cut with a grinder.
  8. Polycarbonate is attached to the frame, carefully sealing the joints between the wall of the house and the canopy. It should be noted that gaps must be left between the sheets, taking into account the thermal expansion of the material.
  9. Remove the protective film from the polycarbonate.

Design Ideas

There are a lot of ideas for decoration, and each owner of the house can choose the one that suits his taste, design style and costs. Alternatively, you can use the following styles:

  • canopy made of polycarbonate metal base. Most economical option at little cost. Looks neat and no frills;
  • chalet;
  • Russian style (only valid if your house is built of timber or logs);
  • forged canopy;
  • visor, additionally equipped with lanterns or other lighting elements.

In general, having decided to make a canopy over the porch with your own hands, you need to soberly assess your financial capabilities, make sure that you have all the necessary tools and materials, and also carefully study the manufacturing and fastening technology of the canopy you like. With a serious approach to business and correct execution necessary action your visor will last you a long time.

How to make a visor over the porch with your own hands, see the following video:

With the advent of polycarbonate in construction, the design of protective porch canopies and canopies very quickly turned from a semi-handicraft of the same type into a whole industry with its own style and artistic solutions. The popularity of a polycarbonate porch canopy breaks all records today. Following offices and shops, residents of panel houses and old Khrushchevs began to get rid of primitive tin canopies of the Soviet style. Polycarbonate canopies over the porch of a private house have become something of a calling card, instead of a carved front garden with roosters and forged gate.

Why is sheet polycarbonate so attractive

For the manufacture of a protective canopy, two types of material are used - honeycomb and monolithic. The first is a lightweight multilayer bag with air gaps, the second, due to its high transparency and light transmission, is very similar to glass. Numerous surveys and feedback from owners indicate that the choice of polycarbonate as base material for the construction of canopies is not accidental, in practice polycarbonate sheets have shown their advantage over metal, slate, concrete and wood:

  • Due to its high flexibility, insensitivity to variable loads and low weight, and the polycarbonate sheet weighs an order of magnitude less than mineral glass, the canopy over the porch can be built arbitrarily big size, the most intricate shape and design;
  • The material does not lose its properties in severe frosts below 40 ° C and withstands heating up to 120-140 ° C. Even in extreme conditions, the canopy over the porch withstands light blows from icicles and snow caps that have fallen from the roof;
  • The polycarbonate canopy is very easy to maintain. Regularly adhering dust can be washed off clean water with a small amount detergents an infinite number of times;
  • A small investment in the purchase and installation of even a simple canopy made of colored, glass-like polycarbonate can make the porch brighter and more welcoming.

One of the important factors is that at high operational and decorative qualities a polycarbonate sheet is cheaper than metal and glass, and therefore protecting the entrance group of a house will cost less than buying heavy concrete or nondescript corrugated canopies.

Note! The polycarbonate material has a special property. Due to its high transparency sunlight dries the porch from water and snow two to three times faster than under a metal canopy.

Due to the low thermal conductivity, the very smooth polycarbonate surface heats up well even in moderately sunny weather. As a result, snow caps and snowdrifts accumulated on the visor, with the correct surface geometry, come off without consequences for the porch and residents.

Therefore, most companies prefer to build transparent canopies made of monolithic carbonate over the entrance to the office, especially over the steps of the porch. This solution is not only beautiful and gives a stylish look to the facade, it is another way to make the movement on the stairs as safe as possible.

Good light transmission, especially heat rays, has led to the fact that polycarbonate is widely used for greenhouses, greenhouses and winter greenhouses. If you decorate the side lines of the porch and steps with flowers or green spaces, then there will be enough light for the plants to grow and develop.

Do-it-yourself polycarbonate canopy

The material is perfectly cut, drilled, processed mechanically. Polycarbonate is often used as a replacement for glass in household. From the scraps of material left over from the construction of the greenhouse or the glazing of the veranda, you can simply make a canopy over the polycarbonate porch with your own hands. The diagram is shown in the photo below.

Such canopies are indispensable for equipment country houses, sheds or garages. The high transparency of monolithic polycarbonate allows you to perfectly preserve wooden steps porch and dry the soil around the entrance. In addition, the canopy itself can be used as a gazebo or a place to relax.

To build a porch protection, you will need a bar and cellular polycarbonate. The frame and supports are assembled from a bar inset along standard scheme. Regardless of the frame design, when laying roofing three conditions must be met:

  • Polycarbonate sheets are laid on a frame with a thermal gap, at least 2 mm of the gap is taken for each meter of the web width. The gaps between the sheets can be closed with decorative overlays, photo;
  • For fastening plastic sheets special self-tapping screws are used with silicone gaskets. An attempt to assemble polycarbonate on a canopy using ordinary self-tapping screws will inevitably break the fasteners;
  • End surfaces cellular polycarbonate must be covered with ventilation plugs. This will ensure that air is blown through the polycarbonate cells and the accumulation of condensate is removed.

If you fix the sheets over the porch without using plugs, then in a couple of months the transparent multilayer polycarbonate honeycomb structure will be clogged with dust and lose its original attractive appearance.

A complex version of a canopy made of polycarbonate

Due to the light weight and good flexibility of polycarbonate sheet, the structure can be made arbitrarily complex, but most often three types of roof are used to protect the porch:

  • Cantilever canopies with flat and curved roof slopes;
  • Canopies with partial support of the frame and load-bearing elements on vertical racks;
  • Complex multi-tiered structures for a porch with fastening on supports and anchor bolts facade.

Multi-level complex polycarbonate canopies over the porch photo are used to protect large porch areas and flights of stairs when one huge polycarbonate sheet sail creates a very large load on the supporting elements.

Flexibility and a large roofing surface always turn out to be a negative side for a polycarbonate canopy, especially for complex curved surfaces. To hold one large polycarbonate sheet above the porch under the blows of the wind, you will need a very heavy and rigid metal frame. Therefore, designers and architects prefer to divide one polycarbonate sheet into several sections or tiers.

Dividing the canopy into several tiers perfectly compensates for gusts of wind and at the same time gives the porch a very unusual futuristic look. At correct orientation individual polycarbonate sheets above the porch do not flow into the gaps rainwater and no condensation builds up.

Note! A multi-tiered slotted canopy made of polycarbonate is one of the few structures under which there is no suffocating greenhouse effect inherent in most widescreen protective visors.

Over time, the idea of a porch with a polycarbonate canopy has taken root among architects, and today a multi-tiered scheme is widely used both for entrance groups, and for parking lots, cafes, recreation areas and even shopping arcades.

The most interesting design solutions for polycarbonate canopies

The use of polycarbonate plastic for building canopies has led to a resurgence of forgotten styles such as artistic forging and casting. Formerly metal manual processing traditionally used to decorate railings or struts, but today every second canopy over a polycarbonate porch is complemented by steel "laces".

Choice optimal design canopy is always linked to the parameters of the porch. The larger the porch and stairs, the more difficult and difficult it is to make the frame, otherwise it is almost impossible to keep the roof over the entrance to the house. The simplest polycarbonate canopies can be made in the form of a single-sided structure. With all the simplification appearance such canopies made of polycarbonate have the greatest strength and durability.

Shed structures

Remarkable feature shed canopy is its resistance to building settlement. Severe heaving or shrinkage log walls practically do not affect the strength of the canopy structure.

The use of polycarbonate allows you to reduce the slope of the slope. If the roof of the house is installed at an angle of at least 30 o, then 10-12 o is enough for a canopy. At the same time, the snow from the canopy over the porch leaves much faster than on the house. So that the "avalanche" coming down from the main roof does not break the relatively weak polycarbonate canopy, the roof of the porch is arched.

If desired, a rounded polycarbonate canopy can protect not only the porch, but the entire first floor and the basement of a two-story building.

If the exit and the porch of the house are parallel to the facade, the canopy can be made according to the classic one-sided scheme, photo.

Unlike conventional shed structures, this option of a polycarbonate canopy makes it possible to solve several problems at once:

  • Ensure high-quality drainage of the rainwater flow from the roof of the house, eaves and under-eaves space;
  • In any direction of rain, water from the canopy will be diverted to the side, and not on the steps of the porch;
  • Due to the high light transmission of the polycarbonate roof, it becomes possible to dry the eternally wet inner corner between the walls of the facade and the hallway.

To make a nice shed canopy over the porch, it is not necessary to order a steel frame, try to weld the supports by electric welding. Enough to use ordinary timber and wavy polycarbonate. Red combination brick walls, transparent polycarbonate and tinted wood looks no less interesting than a heavy forged ornament.

Arched and gable canopies

Protection of the porch and the entrance to the house with the help of an arched structure is used in cases where, except for entrance platform, under the canopy you need to hide the stairs. arched profile allows you to make the visor unusually narrow and elongated, and the low weight of polycarbonate does not require the use of a rigid frame.

The gable design, in comparison with the arched one, looks less expressive, but if desired, a scheme with two flat slopes can be arranged in the form of a porch unusual shape. If the exit from the house is located very close to the road, it is best to protect yourself from rain and splashes with a fully enclosed monolithic polycarbonate aquarium canopy.

Conclusion

At first glance, a fully glazed porch is unpractical and inconvenient. But for small houses the use of glass-clear polycarbonate allows you to solve a huge number of problems, including providing protection against unauthorized entry into the house. Such full-glazed structures are becoming incredibly popular today, so it is likely that aquarium awnings will replace gazebo-type porches.

The canopy over the porch is not only an aesthetic part of the house, but also necessary element protecting the entrance to the house from pouring rain and ultraviolet exposure. Therefore, when building a house, the porch is given special attention. Thanks to the simple design, even a beginner can make a canopy on their own. How to make a canopy over the porch, and what materials will be needed for this?

Types of visors

It takes several days to make a visor or canopy on your own. The shape of the structure depends on how difficult the work will be. There are several types of visor designs:

  • single slope visor. The slightly inclined support or suspension canopy can be of a straight or concave design.
  • gable canopy. The most robust design visors. It consists of two inclined surfaces. Thanks to this, the snow is evenly distributed over the surface, without creating a large load on the structure.
  • Visor - tent. The device has a semicircular shape, which resembles a tent. The canopy completely covers the porch on both sides.
  • canopy arch. Canopy rounded, covering the porch from all sides.

Despite the fact that the canopy and canopy have a similar design, they are mounted differently. The visor is mounted directly to the wall of the structure, and the canopy is attached to the beams. How to attach the structure, directly or to beams, depends on the main structure.

Material selection

Except design features visors differ in types of material. The material used is wood, iron, polycarbonate, PVC, corrugated board, metal tiles. Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Mounting methods

How reliable the structure will turn out and how long it will last depends on a properly fixed frame. You can attach the canopy to the wall in several ways:

  • With brackets.
  • By welding to the fittings built into the wall.
  • The support beam is bolted to the wall.

Visor requirements

There are several basic norms and requirements that canopies and canopies over the porch should have. The design, made according to the required standards, will last longer:

Canopy over the door on supports

You can make a roof visor on supports with your own hands from any material. All work consists of several stages: installation of supports, assembly and erection of the frame, sheathing.

Sometimes sewn into the visor Spotlights that can illuminate the porch at night.

Visor made of polycarbonate

To make a polycarbonate visor over the porch with your own hands, you need to prepare a drawing and necessary tools for construction. The project specifies following parameters designs:

The material used is metal profile pipes and polycarbonate sheets. Sheet thickness can be from 1 cm or more.

Step-by-step instruction

From construction tool you will need: electric drill, screwdriver and welding machine, as well as a construction level, tape measure and pencil. Polycarbonate sheets are fixed with self-tapping screws.

  • From profile pipes assemble the frame for the canopy.
  • All parts of the frame are welded and additionally fixed with stiffeners. Depending on the size of the canopy, the number of ribs is determined.
  • Using a drill with metal nozzle, four mounting holes are made in the frame.
  • Next, we mark on the wall of the house places for mounting supports and attach the frame.
  • Pipes are treated with a primer, and then painted.
  • All end points are covered with sealing tape.
  • Polycarbonate sheets cannot be installed back to back, as they tend to expand. Therefore, when mounting, a small gap is left between the panels.
  • The area between the canopy and the wall is carefully sealed. This will protect the porch from water ingress.
  • When everything is ready, the protective film is removed from the polycarbonate.

What's in fashion?

At present, instead of the usual canopy over the porch, awnings began to be used. Awnings are a fabric roof that is installed not only over the porch, but also over the windows. Advantages of marquis:

  • It has waterproof functions, perfectly withstands hail.
  • Does not fade in the sun.

Modern models are equipped retractable systems. The angle of inclination and the level of opening of the canopy can be adjusted depending on the position and intensity of the sun. Along with the awnings, additional stands can be purchased. Racks are installed in front of the house in the ground, a canopy is attached to the top - it turns out a magnificent gazebo.
