Watch the renovation of hallways and kitchens. Finishing the corridor in the apartment: photos of designs and step-by-step finishing with decorative stone What to choose for floors

In old houses, it is very often necessary to do the repair of the apartment and the hallway with your own hands. This room is completely small space, but its importance cannot be underestimated, because it is rightfully the face of the apartment, because guests, coming into the house, first see it. She can tell everything about any apartment as a whole. That is why you should be very careful about the repair of the hallway. Furniture in the hallway is generally a separate issue. It is catastrophically necessary, but, unfortunately, there is not enough space for it. Also design and styling.

traditional hallway

The main part of the modern housing stock was built back in the Soviet era, which was distinguished by strict socialist minimalism. If this is a kitchen, then only for two, and if it is a hall, then only 3 by 4. It could not be otherwise, because the apartments were built at the rate of 10 square meters per person. So it turned out that for a small hallway there was only a small dark nook near front door. Look at least the old photos of the repair of the hallway with your own hands!

Usually the hallway is small in size, so you should not spend money and invite craftsmen. But, despite its size, this room needs a lot of attention. Even before you start work, you need to think about how its lighting will be. Is it appropriate to hang a small ceiling lamp, or is it better to install it on the wall. Is it worth it to mount additional lighting near the mirror, and also, what should it be like, or what place should be given to it.

hallway color palette

Starting to repair the hallway with your own hands, you need to proceed from your own preferences when choosing a color, but you can also listen to the recommendations of the masters. Choosing a color for this room, you can visually enlarge it, as well as hide all the flaws. There is such a general rule that says that the lower zone must be dark, the middle must be light, and the top must be completely light.

In order to make repairs to a small hallway with your own hands, you need to develop new project and determine the scope of work. To achieve a good result, you will have to completely dismantle the built-in furniture, remove the flooring, remove paint, old wallpaper and whitewash.

Next, you need to choose finishing materials. Among great variety tools and building materials for repairs, which are offered in specialized stores, sales specialists will help you navigate. The purchase can be made through a network of online stores, this way you will definitely save money.

New furniture must be ordered in advance to match the design project. While it will be made, you will definitely have time to repair it in narrow hallway finish. Further old furniture dismantle and prepare all surfaces for leveling. You do not need to have special skills for this - only physical strength.

A very important element that you have to work with during repairs is electrical wiring. If there is even the slightest doubt about own forces, then it is better to ask relatives and friends, among them there will definitely be a craftsman with "golden" hands who can help.

The next stage is the alignment of the ceiling, walls and floor in accordance with the project. You can also install new flooring yourself. If it doesn’t work out, then you can watch the repair of the hallway with your own hands on the video on specialized sites.
Then the final work on finishing the ceiling and walls is carried out. Next, wallpaper is glued, and painting is done. And at the final stage, the necessary electrical devices- lamps, switches and sockets.

wall decoration

How to decorate the walls in the hallway? There are a lot of ideas for repairing the hallway. First you need to remember that before you start gluing new wallpaper, you need to remove the old one. It may be necessary to change all the wiring, as well as other communications in the walls. If the plan provides for a change of internal and external doors, then it is better to do this immediately. After removing the old cladding, the wall must be leveled. To do this, holes and cracks must be covered and puttyed. So, everything you need is done, and now it's time to choose the wallpaper.

Vinyl wallpapers

Vinyl wallpaper is an excellent washable finish that will last a long time. Dirt can be removed with a special brush or sponge. There is a fabric and paper layer, which is very thinly covered with PVC, and an image is made on top. It is PVC that completely protects the base from various contaminants and moisture. Vinyl wallpapers are often impregnated with a special agent that prevents mold and mildew from multiplying.

There is also structural vinyl. In another way, it is called foamy. Such wallpapers are embossed and dense. Silkscreen is also vinyl wallpapers to which silk threads are added. They are smooth, embossed and look very similar to silk. These wallpapers are heavy and, if not properly connected, will easily come apart at the seams. If the silkscreen is smooth, uneven walls may be visible.

Vinyl wallpaper is a common synthetic. That's why they don't let air through. Most manufacturers make vinyl wallpaper with micropores. This allows moisture to evaporate and prevent condensation from collecting. There is a cheaper option - this is a washable paper wallpaper covered with a film.

Cork wallpaper

You can also use cork wallpaper with a fairly thin layer of cork applied to the paper. So that the colors of these wallpapers are not too monotonous, all designers dilute the cork with some kind of colored inserts. These surfaces are perfectly washable, do not cause allergies and do not collect dust. They are absolutely not suitable for dark rooms, because they take a lot of light.

To determine the type of wallpaper, you need to watch a video about the repair of the hallway. Many developers prefer wall, plastic panels, because they wash well and do not deteriorate at all after that. These panels are simply attached, however, the walls are reduced by about 2 centimeters.

The liquid wallpaper

Liquid wallpaper is a cross between stucco and ordinary wallpaper. You can buy a dry mix, or more precisely, a mixture of silk, linen and paper flakes. Next, you need to dilute it with water according to the instructions and leave it for a while so that the flakes are fed. Then apply the material to the walls with a spatula, 2 mm thick.

These wallpapers are good because they perfectly cope with irregularities on the walls and do not form any seams, and are also very easy to clean with a vacuum cleaner. They can be opened with varnish, and then it will be possible to wash them. Another plus or minus - these wallpapers are hard to peel off. For those who like to make repairs every couple of years, they will not work.

Decorative plaster

You can also finish the walls in the hallway with decorative plaster. This option is quite interesting in variety, because you can make whole pictures, patterns and rough walls. Such a coating is perfect for houses where animals live, because the composition of the material contains stone chips, which makes the material strong enough.

The walls will be perfectly washed if the plaster is pre-varnished. The only disadvantage of this coating is that the process of covering the walls itself is very complicated, and you will have to seek help from specialists.

Other finishes

Wall decoration does not lose its popularity Chipboard boards which are covered with veneer. There are a lot of advantages, and they are known to everyone. Regarding the minuses - it must be recalled that the plates are very long, expensive and difficult to mount. Not suitable for those people who make repairs often, because such a coating will look great even after 4 years and it’s a pity to change it.

If you just want ordinary painted walls, then you should work hard and stick it on before sticking special wallpaper for painting. This solution will hide the defects of the walls and the texture will appear. With such wallpaper for painting, the hallway will look better than it will be just painted.

hallway floor

First you need to understand what is the floor in the hallway. We enter it in unclean shoes, sometimes wet, and even bring some objects. That is why the floor in such a room must be washed well. In the design of hallways, tiles or laminate are usually used as flooring. Both the first and second coverage, one might say, successful. Options for repairing the hallway for the floor must be considered in advance.

Tile

If you want to make the floor in the hallway of tiles, then you should remember a few nuances. AT without fail tiles should be glossy, this is for easy and convenient cleaning, as well as resistant to various chemicals which can be used.

The color scheme of the tiles is also important. It is better to choose dark colors for the surface, because it is on such a tile that dirt is not noticeable at all and its wear is not visible. It is not recommended to take black, because even a small scratch will be noticeable on it. Tiles very light colors will make the room visually wider and brighter.

PVC floor tiles are very similar in quality to linoleum, however, in appearance they look more like stone or wooden planks. This material is quite durable and can last up to 25 years. This coating is also easy to apply. The size of the plates is different - 30:30 or 50:50 centimeters.

The tile looks quite impressive in the hallway. Thanks to this material, the hallway area can be separated from other rooms. Such floor material is perfect for a fairly wide, but not long hallway.

Linoleum

The most popular flooring material is linoleum, which tolerates dirt and moisture well. It is better to glue it to the floor, but at the same time the base should be just perfectly flat. Foam-based linoleum is less erased, so it lasts longer. It is perfect as a cover for those rooms in which high humidity and pollution.

There are also linoleums on warm base. They have a bottom layer of jute or felt materials, on which it is then glued. polymer layer. The height of the coating can reach a maximum of 5 millimeters. This floor will last up to 10 years.

Laminate

In the hallway, laminate flooring has many pros and cons. It is necessary to choose only thick panels so that they completely isolate sound. The good thing about this coating is that it has a simple and quick assembly. The panels are fastened firmly enough to the floor.

If you choose this option, and not glue, then moving, you can quickly disassemble it. It is also good that the floor does not need to be varnished and sanded. There are no restrictions in the color scheme and any designer's idea can be brought to life. Moreover, it quite accurately repeats the texture of the tree. There are also downsides. Chipboard and fiberboard panels create a hum.

This means that it is practically impossible to walk quietly on such a floor with your heels, because the sound will be exaggerated by the echo. It is better not to apply wet cleaning to this surface, especially if it is a cheap laminate. Safety and environmental friendliness for health will be a great bonus when buying this material.

Ceiling in the hallway

Ceiling design depends on functional duties and heights. If your hallway is small and the ceilings are high enough, then you can solve the problem of storing things by making niches under the ceiling. By painting the middle of the free ceiling with a contrasting color, the aesthetic problem will be solved.

If you have high ceilings then great. suitable drywall, as well as rails and panels. Suspended ceilings are sometimes complemented by some kind of diffused lighting. These ceilings are mounted on the base with the help of suspensions, then the room is reduced by about 15 centimeters.

If the hallway is small in size, stretch ceiling will look good, because it has no joints. With it, you can make a low and dark hallway complete opposite, if you use a light canvas with a mirror effect. Any repair of the hallway in the photo can be viewed in the catalog of the master.

Ordinary wallpaper is also suitable for the ceiling in the hallway. You can use paper, but they will last longer, of course, glass, vinyl and non-woven. The color of these wallpapers can be absolutely anything. It all depends on the ideas of the designer and the interior. Wallpaper can be selected for painting and after a while their color can be changed.

The cheapest option is expanded polystyrene plates, they are attached very easily to glue and always look beautiful, but they will not last long. Also the cheapest thing is to paint the ceilings. But do not think that this is the easiest. The ceiling may not be even, and then painting will cause a lot of trouble. True, at perfect ceiling- this option is really the easiest.

The ceiling for painting is prepared in several stages. The first is that it is primed, and then plaster is used. If it is very uneven, then a reinforcing plaster mesh. After gluing it, leveling is carried out, and then primed again. An ordinary ceiling without depressions and tubercles can be painted immediately. It is best to use the paint on water based.

hallway lighting

Based on the fact that it is the entrance hall that is deprived of a source of natural light, then, by installing artificial light, it is necessary to compensate for this deficiency. Sconces, chandeliers and other lighting devices that will be located in the hallway should give light very close to natural. Lower light can visually expand any walls in narrow hallways. It allows, as it were, to slightly blur the real dimensions of this room.

An individual and complete interior will help to create not only light paintings, false aquariums, floor lighting of walls, but also illuminated plants. The renovation of a small hallway will make the interior stylish and modern, if the lighting is made varied and mobile.

Furniture in the hallway

The choice of furniture, as well as its arrangement, takes a very important place when designing a hallway. With the location, and most importantly, the size of the furniture, you must decide in advance before the work on the walls begins. The plans may include built-in furniture, then for this it is necessary to mount special niches that will be needed when installing such furniture.

It is much easier to make holes for already purchased furniture than to pick it up for an already finished repair. When choosing furniture for the hallway, you must first of all start from its size, because repairing the hallway in an apartment is a painstaking task. Usually the hallways are small, so the furniture there should not be superfluous.

It must be practical and functional. It is quite enough to put a cabinet with a mirror and a chest of drawers, but if the area allows, then the interior of the hallway can be supplemented with an umbrella and a magazine rack. The highlight will be the key holder.

Hangers and open shelves- not the most advantageous option for this room, as they contribute to disorder in this part of the apartment, therefore it is necessary to install only closed furniture. If the ceiling height in this room allows, then you can even mount a wardrobe, which can definitely replace all of the above furniture.

Since little furniture is needed to repair a small-sized hallway, it is better to focus on quality, because it is on it that attention is paid. Choosing furniture good quality, you will definitely be insured that the money that you spent on it will definitely not be thrown to the wind, and it will please the eye for a very long time.

You can simplify your task a little and buy custom-made furniture, which will be made specifically for the project for your hallway, based on some of its features and, of course, your wishes. Making repairs to the hallway with your own hands and arranging the furniture correctly is easy enough, for this you just need to use knowledge, a little imagination, and your hallway will attract the eyes of all guests.

Many people have a question, how to make repairs in the hallway? Very simple! And now you know what the process of repairing and selecting furniture for a hallway in an apartment, country or private house is. Remember that any place in the house should have good lighting and, of course, be kept clean. The easiest way to comply with such conditions is by adhering to the "minimalist" style in interior design. It is very important not to clutter the hallway with bulky items, leave space for mobility, and, if possible, provide natural light.

A hall in an apartment or house is often perceived as a room with a secondary role. They do not spend much time in it, but only briefly. However, this is not a reason to treat its decoration and design indifferently. As you know, the first impression is the strongest, and acquaintance with the apartment and immersion in its individual atmosphere begins from this place.

The question of how to make economical repairs in the hallway is common. The room differs, as a rule, in a small area. On how to make it cozy, comfortable and pleasing to the eye, our few recommendations.

The once popular sets of furniture for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and front, including, have now lost their relevance. It has not been fashionable for a long time, moreover, it is most often cumbersome and useless.

Do not clutter up a limited space with voluminous armchairs or poufs. But a shelf or even two will be very handy. You can not only store shoes on them, but also lean on them if necessary. When choosing the decor for the hallway, try to visualize what you prefer and everything will immediately fall into place.

A large wardrobe from floor to ceiling is quite familiar to small apartments furniture. Of course, it takes up a lot of space, but it also contains enough. If you want to make the hall more spacious and bright, then it is better to refuse it.

Replace bulky furniture, for example, with narrow shelving. Boxes with various little things will look much more interesting and modern on them. A good alternative would be thin mounted modules.

If you can’t do without a wardrobe, then try to make it as adapted as possible to a small space. Carefully take all measurements and create it according to an individual order, instead of doors, give preference to mirrors and matte tempered glass. Inside, you do not need to mount heavy shelves and drawers, use metal wire baskets, ordinary clothes bars.

Find a creative vein in yourself and show it. In every house there is a expired wardrobe(the main thing is not very large and not deep), you can update it, replace the handles, repaint it and you will get an excellent wardrobe.

Not only are the costs minimal, but also the furniture is almost author's and vintage.
Massive wooden chests of drawers can easily be transformed into shoe racks and elegant consoles in the spirit of antiquity. Even ordinary hangers with a shelf for hats can be turned into a bright interior detail.

Most of the cost of repairing the entrance hall is associated with the replacement of the entrance and interior doors. How to save on this? It's very simple, don't buy a new one, but upgrade the old one. Use special primers and paints, stencils, decorative adhesive films with a pattern, antique fittings and elegant handles. Do not be afraid bright colors, they will add color and optimism to the room, they will become its highlight.

The floor surface of the ceiling and walls also require attention. To minimize costs, choose cheaper materials. Laminate and linoleum are well suited, in addition, they are resistant to wear and moisture. For decoration, use various rugs that you can also make yourself (knitted, bamboo, stones, etc.).

The easiest way to finish the ceiling is painting or whitewashing. However, do not forget that it requires perfect flat surface, otherwise all charm will be lost. It is also possible to organize a suspended structure from wooden beam and PVC panels with an interesting built-in lighting system.

To avoid platitudes and boredom, fantasize more. Combine materials, such as porcelain stoneware tiles and laminate. It can also be used for wall decoration, now this trend is gaining popularity.

With the help of small inserts of artificial stone, you can bring individuality into the interior. The main thing is to observe the measure so that there is not too much of everything at once.

An interesting idea with cabinet doors with panels or facades. It is enough to paint them white and attach to the wall. They will make the surface smooth, visually increase the area of the room and bring nostalgic notes to it.

The final touch in the renovation of the lobby is the choice of lighting and accessories. In the very simple version a few hand-painted paintings or frames with photographs, any wall decorations, possibly brought from long trips and travels. Pay attention to boxes and baskets woven from wicker, they always add comfort, and at no extra cost.

The entrance hall and the corridor can be called the “face of the apartment”, since it is they who form the first impression of the homeowners, of their tastes and well-being. Therefore, the design of these premises should be thought out carefully, to the smallest detail.

Finishing the corridor in the apartment is usually done last, since dirt and construction debris during the repair of other premises will remain all the way from the front door to the rooms where the work is being done. In addition, when building materials or large pieces of furniture are brought in, they can easily damage the finish on the walls and floors of the hallway. That is why the facing of these surfaces is performed last.

What should be considered when planning the finishing of the corridor?

Hallways in standard city apartments usually have a very small area without a source of natural light. Dust and dirt from the street are primarily brought into these walk-through rooms, as they are often walked in street shoes.

In addition, you should also think about the fact that during the operation of the apartment, various pieces of furniture and large Appliances, which during transportation it is quite possible to damage the surface of the walls. Therefore, for finishing it is recommended to choose materials that have a certain strength.

Another important point that cannot be ignored when planning the repair of these premises is that despite their small area, finishing work can result in a decent amount if they are carried out by a construction team. Therefore, having realistically assessed your strengths and financial capabilities, you can try to produce this stage on your own, choosing an affordable method and materials that are suitable in quality and price.

In order for the work to be successful, they should be carried out according to a pre-drawn plan, which should provide for the entire sequence of actions.

Work plan

The stages of repair work for any of the rooms of the apartment practically do not differ in their sequence, but they will differ in scale, depending on what type of repair is chosen: major or cosmetic.

  • The overhaul includes complete dismantling coatings of all surfaces with replacement electrical wiring, arrangement of a new floor screed and plaster leveling layer on the walls. In addition, the total scope of work may include the installation of a false ceiling.

  • Cosmetic repairs include replacement decorative coatings walls and floors, as well as sometimes the installation of a false ceiling. If ceiling work is to be carried out, then additional wiring may have to be done. electrical cables for lighting fixtures that are built into suspended ceiling.

So, the whole process of repair work is usually planned in the following sequence:

  • For any type of repair - this is the dismantling of old decorative coatings and cleaning of surfaces, the removal of all previously performed leveling layers - during the major reconstruction of the premises.

  • Carrying out the necessary calculations of the finishing area and the amount of materials required for it.
  • Determining the location of lighting fixtures and wiring. Its connection to the mains is made already at the final stage of repair. Works related to electricity are recommended to be entrusted to a professional master who has the appropriate permit.

  • Space planning, that is, determining the placement of furniture items necessary in the hallway, depending on the size and shape of the room. If it is possible to plan the premises using a special computer application then this will be the best option, which will allow you to visually evaluate the color combination and the convenience of the proposed arrangement of all interior accessories.

  • Finishing the ceiling, the chosen method and material - for any type of repair work.
  • Alignment of the walls, and then cladding with decorative material when overhaul, or only finishing work for the cosmetic transformation of the room.
  • Leveling the floor with a screed, and then laying floor covering, possibly with a heating system - with a complete alteration of the rooms, or only the replacement of decorative flooring during cosmetic repairs.

Types of hallways

The lighting and design solution for the design of the hallway largely depends on the type of hallway and corridor. With a standard layout, these rooms can be combined and have the following forms:

  • A "box" is a square or rectangular room that provides ample room for imagination and can be decorated in any style. Such hallways are typical for houses old building and have an area of 4 sq. m.

  • The hallway-corridor is a narrow elongated rectangular room, sometimes having smooth turns at different angles, in which it is quite difficult to place a lot of furniture. Therefore, you will have to choose only the most necessary for her - it can be a shelf for shoes, an ottoman, a hanger for outerwear, and of course a mirror, without which you can’t do without in the hallway.
  • Entrance hall - "boot" - this type of room also combines in its configuration two corridors located at right angles to each other. In one of them there are doors to the sanitary premises of the apartment, and it leads towards the kitchen, and in the other, in fact, there is an entrance hall with doors to the entrance and to the living quarters of the apartment. As a rule, these two corridors have a small width, but a sufficiently large length along which all the necessary furniture accessories can be installed.

What will be subject to reconstruction and decoration?

Hallway lighting and ceiling

After the walls are cleaned of old coatings, it is worth thinking about how to properly distribute the lighting fixtures in the dark hallway and corridor, since intense lighting is necessary for them. This factor is due to the fact that, as a rule, finishing touches to put in order their appearance, leaving the house, people perform it in the hallway in front of the mirror. For this, it is necessary to provide that there is enough light in this room, and it is desirable to organize shadowless lighting.

If it is dark in a small room, then it will visually seem even cramped. To avoid this effect, it is recommended to make the ceiling light and install lamps on it that give a bright but diffused light.

If the ceiling is planned to be painted, then acrylic paint will be the best option for this. However, this option will be advantageous only if the surface has perfect evenness and smoothness, otherwise bright lighting will reveal all the existing flaws.

AT last years plasterboard suspended ceilings have become popular, having one or more tiers that form niches in which neon or LED strips are laid or the same lamp is installed. Most often, tiers are given intricate curvilinear shapes that visually expand the space, making the room look wider. In addition, a similar version of the ceiling will help to more intensively illuminate certain areas of the room, in particular the one where the mirror will be fixed.

If the apartment is not too high ceilings, then for their design you can use a glossy light stretch ceiling. On its surface, light from devices mounted on the walls will be reflected, increasing the overall intensity of illumination. In this case, it is desirable to direct the light from wall sconces on a glossy surface.

Original interior solution - two-tier ceiling

If the owner of the apartment has good skills in working with building and finishing materials, he will be able to cope with this task on his own. To help him - a detailed publication of our portal

To obtain even bright light, it is desirable to use modern economical LED lamps, which today can be found in a large assortment in specialized stores. Such lamps, with a small power consumption, create an excellent level of illumination. Many of them are specifically designed to be embedded in drywall construction- they look like neat dots, which is why they are called dotted. In luminaires that turn towards the ceiling, lamps are installed that are equivalent in terms of luminous efficiency of 50 ÷ 60 W. If the sconces will be installed on the walls of a narrow hallway, it is recommended to choose flat models that do not protrude too much from the wall, otherwise they will visually make the room more cramped.

If the ceiling and upper part make the walls light, this factor will enhance the overall illumination and help save on electricity consumption, as the effects of reflection of the light flux from surfaces are actively “turned on”.

If the ceiling in the hallway is not too high, then you should not use low-lowered lamps or chandeliers for lighting, as they will visually make the room even lower.

If you have the financial capacity, you can install a stained-glass suspended ceiling in the corridor, illuminated from the inside. But it should be remembered that in these conditions it is not worth choosing a pattern with a dark colors, and to organize the backlight it is better to use lamps with a cold glow.

Except ceiling surface, recessed fixtures are sometimes installed in walls if they are sheathed with drywall, which is fixed on a frame made of metal profile, or placed in niches.

Drywall - optimal material for leveling walls

If the area of \u200b\u200bthe room allows, then this method becomes the most convenient to implement, and all work can be done independently. More about - in a special publication of our portal.

Hallway flooring

The corridor and the entrance hall are the premises with the highest intensity of movement of the apartment's residents. In addition, we must not forget about the dirt and dust brought on the shoes, which may contain grains of sand that can damage some coatings with their abrasive action. Therefore, for flooring in these rooms, you need to choose a material that has increased strength.

The most popular floor coverings used in apartments are materials such as linoleum, ceramic tiles and laminate. You can rarely find parquet or massive board. Each of the coatings has its own characteristics, which you need to know about in order to choose the best option.

Ceramic tile

The range of this material in hardware stores is quite wide, but not every type of tile is suitable for the hallway.

It is impossible to purchase tiles intended for wall cladding for laying on the floor, since there are completely different indicators of strength and wear resistance.

For laying near the front door, you should not choose a tile with an absolutely smooth glossy surface, since if you step on it in wet shoes, you can easily slip and get a serious injury. Especially this factor must be taken into account if the family has small children or people of respectable age. If you plan to lay this particular material, then the best option would be to choose a tile with a rough surface - this is usually indicated on the packaging of the material.

In addition, we must not forget that ceramics is a “cold” type of flooring and it is best to mount it on a pre-laid system. Suitable for apartment conditions electric option heating with a cable or special mats. These systems are safe to operate and consume a minimum amount of electricity.

The advantages of tiles include ease of maintenance, durability and long service life. However, this material is quite difficult to install, and if there is no relevant experience in this area, then you will have to invite the master, and this is also an extra cost.

Tiles can be combined with other floor coverings such as linoleum, laminate or even carpet. Thus, it is possible to divide the hallway into zones. One of the common options is that ceramic tiles are laid near the door, and the rest of the hallway and corridor are lined with other material. Such a decision will make these rooms less boring, especially if the design of the material is chosen with taste.

Laminate

Linoleum

Linoleum is a traditional flooring material for flooring in all rooms of the apartment, including the hallway, and it can be called time-tested for its practicality. If earlier this type of coating did not differ in variety in terms of base and colors, today its range pleases consumers, as it provides an opportunity to choose according to such criteria as the material of manufacture, the degree of wear resistance, pattern, thickness, colors and, of course, price.

If financial opportunities allow, then you can purchase a natural-based laminate.

It meets all the requirements for its operation in walk-through rooms - these criteria include environmental friendliness, moisture resistance and strength, high resistance to mechanical damage, low thermal conductivity, easy maintenance and durability. The disadvantage of any natural material is its high price.

Artificial linoleum is made on the basis of polymer raw materials and has more diverse colors and patterns than natural, as well as quite affordable cost. The service life of this coating may be different, depending on the quality of the material, but basically its operational period is quite long, and is at least 15 years under normal temperature conditions. The disadvantages of artificial canvases include instability to solvents and sharp drops temperatures.

Decorative plaster

This type of finish is more complex in execution, but, despite this, it is becoming more and more popular, as it perfectly transforms the walls and hides small flaws on it. Varieties decorative plasters- quite a lot, but they all have high strength and abrasion resistance, good moisture resistance.

Decorative plaster - stylish decoration interior!

It is simply impossible to tell in one section about all types of this finish. Read more than just the description different types, but also with the processes of preparing surfaces and applying finishes to the wall can be found in a separate article of the portal.

The technology of finishing the walls of the corridor "under the stone"

In combination with plastered sections of the wall, laying tiles that imitate natural stone are often used, and more and more apartment owners are interested in this way of decorating the walls of the hallway. Therefore, two different technologies for finishing walls “under the stone” will be considered below. Perhaps the description of these works will inspire someone to independent creative process and help you save a lot of money.

Indeed, a properly selected stone texture and color scheme of this facing material can ennoble the interior of the premises and give it individuality. However, it should be noted that if the hallway has a very small area, then you should not stick stones on all the walls. It will be enough to cover only the area around the front door with stone, and it is desirable that the material had one of the light color shades.

Below are two step-by-step available technologies similar decoration of the corridor.

Laying tiles imitating natural stone

First of all, ready-made facing stone can be purchased at hardware store. In this case, the work is carried out in the following order:

Illustration
In order for the tile to hold securely on the wall, it is necessary to make a series of preparatory work, which begin with cleaning the walls of old coatings.
It should be remembered that it is impossible to glue tiles on wallpaper, even if they are securely attached to the wall, since the canvases will not be able to hold heavier finishing material.
However, if you plan to lay on separate parts of the wall, you will have to develop a design project in advance, determining the location of the tiles. Then, having made measurements of the tiles, transfer them to the wall area to be lined, marking the edges of the future finish with a simple pencil. After that, you should carefully remove the wallpaper only from these parts of the wall. Thus, it will be possible to combine two finishing materials.
If you plan to cover the entire wall with finishing material, the wallpaper must be completely removed. In addition, old, peeling plaster is cleaned from the walls, as well as oil paint, if it has been previously applied.
The next step is to prime the cleaned surfaces with a solution that includes antiseptic substances.
The primer will help protect the walls from the appearance of mold and other negative manifestations, and will also create high adhesion for the following finishing layers.
If you plan to combine masonry with a painted wall, then its surface must be well puttied. Moreover, this work must be done as efficiently as possible so that there are no stains from the spatula and so-called sinks on the surface.
It should be noted that this process requires some skill, therefore, if there is no experience in such work, then it is better to entrust the alignment of the walls to an experienced plasterer.
Puttied and dried walls are carefully polished to smoothness with a construction grater, on which an abrasive mesh is first installed, and then sandpaper with fine grain.
After grinding, the surface is again covered with a layer of primer applied with a roller with a fleecy nozzle. The water-based primer dries in about two hours.
Next, the process of painting the wall follows.
Usually for this purpose water-based or dispersion paints, in which the color of the desired color is added. They are also applied by roller.
This type of paint will not interfere with fixing on top of it stone tiles, but if you want to get even more confidence in secure fixation finishing material, then the wall should be marked and covered with its sections, on which it is planned to install tiles, with a primer.
While the paint or primer is drying, it is worthwhile to start selecting tiles.
To do this, it is unpacked and laid out along the wall, which will be lined.
Since the “wild stone” tile has dark blotches, which are located differently on different specimens, it is necessary to try to decompose the fragments in such a way that the areas painted in a darker color are evenly distributed in the masonry.
It is easier to finish if the entire wall is decorated with masonry, but if it is located in separate sections, usually these are areas around doorways and corners, then work should begin with them, from the floor plinth.
However, before installing the first row, it would be useful to check the horizontalness of the plinth using the building level.
If it turns out that it is not ideal, then you should measure the height of the tile and beat off the line along the upper side of the future row with a masking cord. It is on it that the first row of masonry will be displayed.
At the same time, from below under the tiles in some places, you may have to make temporary linings from plastic plates or wooden slats.
If the plinth has not yet been installed, then it is recommended to mark out the level, install and fix the support rail or starting profile, on which the first row of tiles will be mounted.
Some tiles made of gypsum may have irregularities on their edges that form during casting - these flaws must be cleaned, otherwise they will interfere with the smooth fixing of the elements to the wall.
For this, it is used sharp knife and sandpaper with a large grain, fixed on a piece of timber, or an abrasive bar.
If there is an external corner in the corridor, which will be decorated with artificial stone, then work should begin with it, and it is best to use special corner elements.
Before fixing the corner tiles with glue, it is recommended that they first be carefully tried on.
Next, according to the instructions on the package, the tile adhesive is kneaded.
Moreover, if the tile is made of gypsum, then adhesive composition should also be chosen on a plaster basis, and if facing material from cement-sand mortar, then the glue is used on a cement basis.
At the same time, to simplify the work, especially when installing tiles on a wall painted in light shades, it is better to choose tile adhesive in white.
Some craftsmen prefer to fix the elements of this cladding with liquid nails, and this can be done under certain conditions. For example, if the tile is gypsum and has a small thickness and weight, and the room in which it will be installed has normal humidity.
However, in any case, professionals recommend using tile adhesive, since it is cheaper, and such a composition, if it is of high quality, will fix the tile on the wall more securely.
At installation work tiles will need to be cut.
Gypsum tiles are easy to use with an ordinary hacksaw, while for cement tiles you will have to use a grinder with a stone disc.
If it is planned to produce “torn” masonry, and the tile has smooth edges, then it will have to be broken.
To get a long protruding element, the tile is first filed, and then the extra parts are broken out by grabbing them with pliers.
To obtain an arbitrarily uneven edge, it is simply broken off with the same tool.
However, it should be noted that these manipulations can only be performed with thin gypsum tiles.
So, masonry starts from a corner or doorway.
The glue is applied to the surface of the wall and the tile itself in a thin layer, since when they are bonded, it should only slightly protrude along the edges.
Moreover, this excess must be immediately removed with a spatula.
The tile is applied to the wall and pressed well, glue is removed from its edges, and then it is tapped to the wall with a rubber mallet.
The installation of the second and all subsequent rows is carried out according to the principle of brickwork, that is, the vertical seams must be displaced by at least ⅓ of the length of the tile.
Each of the stacked rows is verified according to the building level, since the tile can go skewed by only a few millimeters, which will gradually grow into centimeters, and the work will eventually be ruined.
Another nuance that often causes inconvenience if ordinary tiles are used to decorate the corner, and not corner elements, is the mismatch of their edges, since it is often quite difficult to find perfectly right corners in apartments.
Therefore, before applying the adhesive mass to the surface, it is necessary to try on two tiles to the corner, and if they do not match, mark and then cut off the protruding excess part.
Since this version of the finishing material has a certain volume, the masonry from it will perfectly hide the small irregularities of the corner.
Another difficult design area is the arch.
But if gypsum material is used for decoration, then this problem is solved quite easily, again due to the ease of processing such tiles.
Since the arch can have a different radius of curvature, which is difficult to calculate in advance, it is easiest to cut the tiles down at the place of its laying.
To do this, the tile is applied to the place where it will later be fixed with glue, and the edge of the arch is outlined on it with a pencil. According to this mark, a cut is made with a hacksaw with fine teeth.
In order not to be mistaken with the place where the element is fixed, it is best to circle it additionally on the wall by lightly pressing the pencil.
Since the gypsum tile does not have flexibility, it will be difficult to fix it on the arch opening area. The gap that forms between the wall and the tile must be completely filled with adhesive mass.
If “liquid nails” are used for fixing, then the glue is applied to the upper and lower parts of the tile, and after it dries, only the side clearance is filled with it.
Thus, the entire arch is framed.
Further, after the glue dries, in order to mask the corner joints of the masonry, a paint composition should be sprayed onto it. For this purpose, a conventional spray gun is suitable.
If this device is not available, then you can cover the stones with a liquid paint solution using a soft brush.
In any case, it is necessary to ensure that there are no streaks on the surface, therefore it is recommended to have a sponge on hand, with which they must be removed immediately.
The end edges of the stone are carefully painted over with a narrow soft brush designed for watercolor work.
The work must be carried out carefully, trying not to touch the surface of the wall.
If part of the paint nevertheless got on the surface of the wall, it must be removed with a damp sponge, and if necessary, touch up certain areas of the surface.
When the paint is completely dry, the masonry is covered with a water-based varnish. It has no unpleasant odor and dries quickly enough.
The varnish is applied with a wide soft brush, since the composition should cover all recessed areas of the masonry.
It is best to choose a matte varnish for the coating, as the gloss can spoil the whole look, because the "stone" will look unnatural.

Imitation of masonry in papier-mâché technique

Another option for decorating the walls of the hallway and corridor can be a finish that does not bring high costs, but will require a lot of patience and strength, as well as creativity. In this case, the cladding is done using the familiar papier-mâché technique. In the example brought to your attention, the master designed not only the hallway and kitchen, but also his office.

Next, it will be considered how to make material for manufacturing, how to apply it to the walls, and also paint it in the desired shades. Moreover, it should be noted that the shape of the stones in imitation of masonry can be for every taste of the master, and the color scheme is also selected for the intended style of the interior.

The shape and color of future “stones” are all the prerogative of the creative master

Step by step instructions for self-fulfillment such finishes - in the table below:

IllustrationBrief description of the operation to be performed
In order to perform lining in this technique, you will need ordinary paper egg trays, wallpaper glue CMC, mosquito net 1000x1000 mm or fine mesh bag, for example for storing onions.
In addition, it is necessary to prepare washing powder for hand washing, as it gives more foam, white and colored enamel paint, soft brushes 150 and 10 mm wide (you will need several of them), an electric drill with a mixer nozzle, a plastic basin and a bucket .
In this case, the manufacture of a paper-glue mixture from ten egg trays will be demonstrated. This amount should be enough to cover an area on the wall with a size of approximately 550 × 550 mm.
The production of the working mass is best done in the bathroom, as the work requires a large amount of water.
In order not to clog the drain in the bath, it is best to protect it with a regular mesh, which is installed in the sink in the kitchen.
Trays are treated differently: some masters knead them or cut them into small pieces, others simply immerse them in very hot water.
So, for soaking ten trays, 6 ÷ 7 liters of hot water will be required, to which 50 grams of washing powder should be added.
The trays are immersed in boiling water one by one, so that their cells do not overlap, and left to soak for half an hour.
Then, taking a drill with a mixer attachment, mix and knead the resulting mass with its help.
Further, the soaked paper is kept in water for at least another two hours, since the mixture should turn out to be almost homogeneous, and also without odors characteristic of tray cardboard.
Washing powder will not only remove unpleasant odors, but will also contribute to faster and better paper softening.
Two hours later, the mass is crushed and mixed with a mixer installed in an electric drill. Simultaneously with mixing, a kind of “washing” of the resulting mass is also carried out.
Next, the resulting "porridge" of paper must be rinsed.
To do this, a cut is installed in a plastic bucket mosquito net. It must be well laid out at the bottom of the bucket, and then fasten its edges to the bucket with ordinary clothespins.
Then, about 1 kg of paper pulp is laid out in the container prepared in this way.
After that, the mesh rises up and twists in the upper part, then the resulting "bag" is taken out of the bucket, placed on a lattice stand in the bath.
Further, a mug is pressed onto the grid with the working mass, squeezing out excess liquid from it.
The pressed mass, without freeing it from the grid, must be washed from the powder with running water from the soul. The mass must be turned over and squeezed by hand until clean water flows from it.
Rinsing is carried out first with cold, and then warm water, after which the mass is wrung out, like ordinary underwear.
The rinsed and wrung out paper is poured into a clean container, as it should be dry and crumble easily.
The same work can be done with a mechanical washing machine in which the centrifuge is installed separately from the washing tub.
A mesh bag is installed in the centrifuge, paper soaked in soapy water is placed in it, then the bag is twisted and tied at the top.
Then the centrifuge lid is closed, the device is turned on, and the mass is squeezed out.
After spinning, the mixture is rinsed. To do this, water from the shower is poured into the centrifuge, and then moisture is again squeezed out of the mass.
If an automatic machine is installed in the apartment, then it’s not worth the risk, since it has a different spinning principle, and the paper can clog the filters of the device. Therefore, it is best to do the work manually.
The next step is to add one liter of diluted CMC glue to the pulp made from ten trays.
When mixing, add a little more to the mixture pure water, and if the mass is not plastic enough, then also about 0.5 liters of glue.
It is most convenient to mix the paper-glue mixture with the help of a mixer nozzle installed in an electric drill.
As a result of mixing, a homogeneous, plastic, pleasant-to-work mixture with high adhesion to any surface should be obtained.
Cladding work begins from the top of the wall from the ceiling.
The mass is thrown and leveled on ceiling plinth or the junction of wall and ceiling. In this area, the mass should adhere tightly to the surface - it is pressed with fingers, at the same time forming the first seam between the "stones".
The advantage of this finishing material is that the paper-adhesive mass, unlike other solutions, does not leave marks on any material located next to the surface to be coated.
In this case, an example of the formation of a relief from a mass made from 10 trays is presented.
The mass is applied to the wall by sketching or simply by applying the collected lump by hand with the necessary effort.
Having sketched a small amount of material, it is pressed against the surface of the wall with the palm of your hand.
The mixture does not leave dirty marks on the hands and easily adheres to any wall covering - it can be tile, wood, whitewash, concrete, drywall, brickwork and other materials.
After the mass has been applied to the wall, it is pressed firmly against the surface with the hands, while creating approximately the same layer thickness.
The facing material does not require ideal leveling, since natural stones almost always have uneven surface, except for pebbles polished with water.
On a leveled wet layer, the formation of a “stonework” relief begins.
To do this, recesses are made in the mass with hands, which will become the seams between the imitated "stones".
At the same time, the shape of the "stones" themselves is created.
The master recommends, when creating a relief, to alternate small and large "stones", giving them various forms. They should not be laid correctly, with even seams between them, it is better if the artificial stones created in this technique are randomly located.
When forming the “masonry” elements, when pressing the mass with a hand, for example, when creating a seam, the mixture on the other side rises, forming a tubercle. It must be pressed, while distributing it to the mass located nearby.
The mass in the seam between the "stones" must be well pressed against the wall, and in order not to use additional tools, the width of the seam can be determined by the thickness of the finger with which it is formed.
When forming "stones", it is necessary to ensure that their middle part is not strongly pressed inward, that is, their edges should be below the middle. Otherwise, after drying, the “stones” will become like saucers, and this circumstance will surely give out their artificial origin, and the masonry itself will not look very aesthetically pleasing.
In addition, do not leave the edges of the stones sharp, which can also ruin appearance relief - they are gently smoothed, leading to the seam.
It must also always be remembered that if large and small “stones” are included in the manufacture of a three-dimensional pattern on the wall, then the paper-glue mass will be spent rationally, economically, which will allow one batch to decorate a larger wall area.
The relief of the "stones" can act on different height from the wall - this will give the masonry more naturalness, that is, they do not need to be especially compared and smoothed.
If the design of the wall is planned with artificial stones imitating pebbles, then a little more glue should be added to the mass. It will make the material more plastic and easy to smooth.
When the work on creating the relief is completed, the wall lined with this technique must be properly dried, otherwise cracks may form on it, or the layer will separate from the surface.
To avoid this, drying must be carried out in vivo, that is, the room should not have a draft or turned on heaters aimed at finishing.
If at the end of the work there is an excess paper-adhesive mass, it must be stored in open form Otherwise, it will acquire an unpleasant musty smell. If, nevertheless, this happened, then the mass will have to be stretched again, squeezed out and then can be used again in work.
If moisture has evaporated from the mixture, then before use, water should be added to it, soaked and mixed well.
When the created relief on the wall is completely dry, it is necessary to check it for cracks and flaking.
If cracks are found, they should be repaired with the same paper-glue mixture, and while it dries, you can do color markings.
In this case, the master first determines the color of each of the “stones” with colored dots.
This method simplifies the work, since paint of the same color is first taken and it is applied to the marked “stones” throughout the entire facing layer.
For coloring, it is best to use alkyd matte enamel or oil paint, which is applied to the "stones" in two layers.
Then stones of a different color are painted, and so on until the entire surface is covered with a layer of paint.
The paint is applied to the entire relief of the "stone" to the seam.
Sometimes, to give naturalness to painting one “stone”, several shades are used, which gives the masonry elements a deeper volume.
As for staining, we can say that this process can be done in different ways, depending on the goal and the style solution of the interior. It all depends on the artistic taste of the master.
The paint is applied to the seam in such a way that it does not find the “stone” on the protruding relief. It should not stand out in the foreground, since the task of designing the seams is to give the finish neatness, that is, they should only be the background for the main elements.
In this case, the result of work is presented in the selected green-brown-beige range, with seams made in blue shades.
However, each master chooses his own color option, which is more suitable for his vision of the created interior.
A properly tiled wall, covered with enamel or oil paint, can be cleaned well with soapy water and a stiff brush.
Based on this, we can conclude that the finish is moisture resistant and can be used for any of the rooms, including the bathroom. An exception is the area where the bathtub meets the wall - it is recommended to lay one horizontal row of ceramic tiles there, matching in color with the future "masonry".
It can also be noted that the mass made from cardboard of egg trays has low heat and sound conductivity, so a wall finished with this material will dampen noise from the outside, and will also become warmer, unlike brick or concrete.

So, there are a lot of available methods and necessary materials for finishing the corridor. The main thing is to start for yourself to decide what you would like to get as a result of the repair. The second step is to determine the amount that it is possible to allocate for repair work in this room, and then look for options that are suitable in all respects.

And in order to spur the imagination of an interested reader, below is a video in which many very interesting options for finishing the corridor and hallway are presented.

Video: a variety of design solutions for finishing the corridor and hallway

The hallway is being refurbished. main reason- all construction debris and dirt during the repair of all other premises will pass through it. Something in her will wake up, fall off, smear, and what will the face of the house turn into? So, with a more or less serious repair in an apartment, you should definitely think about repairing the hallway, especially since repairing the hallway with your own hands is not a technically difficult task, and professional high-quality inexpensive repair of the hallway is a fairly common service.

Choose, on their own or not, of course, the owners. But keep in mind that due to the small volume and surface area of the premises, the cost of work will in no way be less than 50% of the total, i.e. when repairing the hallway by craftsmen from the outside, half of the payment will go to them for work. So look at your skill and budget possibilities. If you take it on your own, then you first need to know the features of the room.

What should be taken into account?

Hallways, as you know, are mostly small and cramped, without sources of natural light. Dirt is brought into the hallway, people walk on the floor in stiletto heels, and even on skates. Weights are placed on the floor in it, sometimes hard and angular. Spray from umbrellas, clothes, dusting pets fly onto the walls in the hallway.

A wave of cold air from the opened door can break into the hallway, and relative humidity it will immediately jump above the dew point. Condensation may not be visible to the eye, but it will remain in the cracks and pores of the finish, and will slowly do its destructive work: rot, mold, any infection.

But you want to have even a small corridor clean, bright, cozy, and not a dark, gloomy passage that immediately spoils the mood for yourself and your guests. This is quite possible if repair work is carried out according to a clear plan, in a certain sequence and with full knowledge affairs, especially regarding the choice of materials.

Planning

The general sequence of planning the repair of the hallway, in order of importance of the stages, is as follows:

  1. Lighting;
  2. Organization of space;
  3. Surface finishing;
  4. flooring;
  5. Furnishings.

The options for repairing the hallway depend primarily on its original layout with an explication - calculating the volume of the room, the area of \u200b\u200bthe ceiling, walls and floor separately and the type of layout. The latter largely determines the choice of the nature of lighting, volumetric and surface design, and on them, in turn, depend technological features the work being done. Therefore, it is advisable to link the description of the repair to the most common types of hallways.

Types of hallways

In typical houses, the layout of the hallways can be divided into the following types:

  • box;
  • The corridor;
  • "Nora with a snout";
  • Coupe.

The hallway-box is typical for brick Khrushchev houses: from a small (about 4 sq. M) kennel, doors lead to a bathroom and living rooms; perhaps also in the kitchen, if the house was originally built for the “comrades” of the nomenklatura, i.e. superior. There are "boxes" both in stalinkas and in modern houses. Repairing a small hallway of this type is the easiest; furnishing is the most troublesome - because of the doors on all the walls, it is very difficult to put a typical wardrobe.

The hallway-corridor is most often found in panel house. The corridor is often narrow and long, so special meaning acquires its decoration as a way of organizing space. Repair of a simple corridor - medium complexity. Hallways box and corridor are shown in the figure.

“Nora with a snout” is an indispensable attribute of a block Khrushchev: a narrow corridor past the nursery to the living room (hall) with a tap past the bathroom to the kitchen. Repair by design is quite complicated: narrow, cramped, how to organize the space, if there is just a little bit of it? It is still possible to do decently, given the orientation of the apartment to the cardinal points, see the corresponding section.

Note: they began to call the living room a hall just during the second wave of Khrushchev's housing construction, marked by the fight against architectural excesses and the appearance of panel boxes with ceilings of 2.5 m and with total area up to 11 sq. m / person .. Etymology - black humor of new settlers.

After all, carry Construction Materials and garbage through the already renovated premises is somehow illogical. Often, after a tedious and time-consuming finishing of all the rooms of the apartment, there is no strength or finance left to repair the hallway. This is a critical mistake, because the hallway is rightfully considered the hallmark of the apartment. That is why it is so important to plan the repair work in the entire apartment and in particular in the hallway in advance. Easier immediately highlight all the stages of the repair of the hallway, decide what it should be in the end, in order to get what you want as a result.

No. 1. Drafting a project

Any important task involves drawing up an action plan, and when it comes to repairs, then the presence of a clear procedure is a necessity and a guarantee of a successful result a. In advance, yet, you should think about, determine their size, choose the style of the interior, and also decide on lighting fixtures, locations of switches and sockets. All this must be imagined not conditionally and in the imagination, but chart as complete and understandable as possible.

To draw up a plan for the future hallway, you need to measure its dimensions, know the distance from the walls to the doorways and other nuances of the room. All this must be transferred to a scale on paper or the data obtained must be entered into a special program. Now you can start moving the necessary pieces of furniture according to the plan and experiment until you like the result. It is more convenient to use special applications, since you can immediately three-dimensional space see the result. If your strength and desire is clearly not enough to plan the interior and organize the space of the hallway, then you can turn to specialists.

When creating a hallway plan, it is worth take into account some of the nuances of this room. This is in most cases the lack of natural light, and, of course, the constant negative impact: dirt, sand, moisture from the street, temperature changes, etc. That is why it is not worth it to unnecessarily clutter up the hallway with furniture and decor - there should be objects necessary minimum so that the household can move around safely here. In decoration it is better to use light colors, with mirrored doors. The owners spacious hallways can afford complete freedom in organizing the space of the hallway.

The design project drawn up should be as detailed and detailed as possible, and on its basis the necessary building materials are determined, an estimate is made, the repair stages and their sequence are highlighted. We will stop at the main stages.

No. 2. Preparation for repair

When the entire apartment is being renovated, it is unlikely that any of the furniture remains in the hallway, but it will still not be superfluous to recall that the first step is to take everything out of it. Now it's up to the dirtiest process - dismantling works. If a walls were finished with a spatula, and in case of difficulties, moisten the wallpaper a little first. With paint, the situation is more complicated: you may need a solvent or. However, if the painted or ceilings are even and without any defects, then, depending on the future finish, the paint layer can be left untouched. As for floor covering, then it is quite easy to dismantle linoleum yourself, but you will have to tinker with tiles. It is important to correctly assess the condition of the floor covering, and if it is still quite normal, then it is better to simply cover the floor for the duration of the repair with a film.

Often small hallways are combined with an adjacent room, demolishing the partition. This is done precisely at this stage of the repair, but permission for such work must be taken long before that. If necessary, at this stage, the installation of partitions, arches and other elements is also performed.

Overhaul, as a rule, also provides. If it is necessary, then at this stage of the repair, wall chasing is performed, which is necessary for safety and aesthetics. By this point, it is already important to know the hallway lighting plan and the location of sockets in it, so that in the future it will be possible to avoid using extension cords and laying wires over the surface of the walls - all this will not add beauty and accuracy.

Number 3. Rough finish

Everything starts with wall alignment, because their ideal surface is already half the success. Often used, which have several advantages. It is worth noting that they will not dry very quickly, and at this time it is better not to proceed to the subsequent stages of work. preferably in one layer, since when applying the second, it is necessary to wait for the first to dry completely. After that, it would be nice to prime the surface. Instead of plaster, many use putty, which, after drying, is sanded with sandpaper.

The lengthy and messy process of leveling walls can be simplified by using drywall sheets for this. But this solution is far from suitable for all hallways, because their area is often so tiny, and no one wants to reduce it at the expense. This option is great for owners of spacious hallways.

Level the surface of the ceiling it is also necessary, because painting becomes a frequent solution for its decoration. Exception - and suspended structures, which hide the surface of the main ceiling, and therefore it is not so important to achieve perfect evenness and the absence of any defects. To level the ceiling, a gypsum mortar is often used, which, after drying, is cleaned and primed.

After completing these tasks, you can start door replacement, if provided. When new door leafs will be mounted, it is better to cover them with a film so that when fine finish do not stain or damage them.

No. 4. fine finish

The decoration of the hallway and the choice of materials are approached with all responsibility: the room takes a serious blow every day when households and pets bring dirt, moisture and sand from the street. All materials must be resistant to such influences, easy to maintain, but also attractive.

Received start finishing, because otherwise drops of paint or plaster will drip on and when decorating the ceiling. The most common way to organize the ceiling space is paint it: there are many shades, the price of materials is low, you can handle it on your own. Less common, but still used to decorate the ceiling wallpaper and polystyrene tiles. An interesting option becomes
