In this article, we presented 50 inspiring photos and 12 super ideas with step by step master classes for the manufacture of decor items, storage accessories, kitchen utensils and more.

Idea 1. Cutting board tablet holder

Watching your favorite TV shows on a tablet or peeking into a recipe book while cooking will become easier if you make a special stand for this from ... an ordinary cutting board. Making this DIY kitchen craft will take no more than two hours, and it will be used every day.

To make a holder for a recipe book or tablet you will need:

  • You can use an old cutting board or buy a new one (wood is best, but bamboo will work too). Its size should not be much larger or smaller than the tablet.
  • A small wooden plank, or better a molding fragment (it will hold the tablet / book).

  • Another block of wood or plywood from which you can cut a sharp triangle;
  • Paint or stain in the desired color, for example, to match countertops, fronts or kitchen apron ;
  • Brush for painting or rags for staining;
  • Jigsaw or saw;
  • Wood glue or any other strong adhesive.

Instruction:

  1. Using a saw or jigsaw, shorten your plank or molding to right size(according to the width of the board), sand the edges with sandpaper, then simply glue on the bottom of the board.

  1. Cut out a piece of wood to support the stand in the shape of an acute triangle with a right angle as in the photo below and glue it too.

The angle of inclination of the holder will depend on the inclination of the hypotenuse of the triangular bar

  1. Paint the entire piece following the paint manufacturer's instructions and leave to dry.

  1. If desired, the handle of the resulting stand can be decorated with a jute rope or ribbon. Thus, when the stand is not needed, you can hang it on a hook.

Also, the craft can be further decorated - for example, artificially age as in this master class, draw inscriptions, burn out the drawing, cover with slate paint. In the next selection of photos, you can get decor ideas for original cutting boards.

To make one substrate with a diameter of 33 cm, you will need:

  • 10 meters of jute rope 1 cm thick (sold in hardware and hardware stores);

And also, an organizer made with your own hands from cans can be used to store tools, brushes, felt-tip pens and other small things.

Stand for spoons and forks from cans

To make such a stand for spoons and forks, you will need:

  3. Take a nail and a hammer and make a hole for a self-tapping screw in all the jars.

Tip: To facilitate this process and not damage the paint layer, place a small bar on the table with a clamp, then wrap the bar with felt and only then put a jar on the bar (see the picture in the next photo collage in the lower left corner)

  1. Attach the jars to the plank and align them as they will be mounted later. Mark the holes on the board with a pencil.
  2. Punch small holes in the board at the marks using a hammer and nail.

  1. Screw a self-tapping screw into the hole in the first can to attach it to the plank. Repeat the procedure with all remaining banks.

Halloween Kitchen Decor Idea

To make crafts you will need:

  • Styrofoam, plastic or floral foam base in the form of a ball or other desired shape;
  • Trunk (a smooth branch of a tree, a pencil or any other small stick);
  • Decorative elements for creating a crown: coffee beans, artificial flowers, cones, colored beans, etc.;
  • Decor to mask the pot filler, such as moss, pebbles or sisal fiber;
  • Flower pot;
  • Filler for the pot, which will fix the trunk. For example, cement mortar is suitable, all the same polystyrene or alabaster (most the best option);
  • Hot glue gun;
  • If necessary, you will need paint to decorate the trunk, base or pot. Also, the trunk can be decorated with ribbon or twine.

Basic instruction:

  1. To begin with, it is desirable to paint the base in the color of the crown elements so that possible bald spots are not noticeable. You can also paint the trunk and pot and leave them to dry.
  2. Cut a hole at the base of the crown for the trunk a couple of centimeters deep, fill it with glue and fix the trunk.
  3. Take the base of the crown and start gluing decorative details one by one. The principle of operation at this stage is simple: first, large parts are glued, then medium ones, and finally, small elements fill in the bald spots. You need to glue the decor quickly, until the glue is absorbed into the base.
  4. Dilute the stem fixing mixture in the pot according to the manufacturer's instructions and fill the pot with it, not reaching a couple of centimeters from the edge. Next, insert the barrel, hold it for a while and then leave it to dry for a day.
  5. Mask the filling of the pot with a decorative "cover" (you can fix it a little with glue).

Idea 5. Serving board-tray

But the idea of an unusual serving board-tray, which, although not a cutting board (intended for laying out products only in dishes), can nevertheless be very functional. For example, it can be used to beautifully serve snacks for drinks (olives, pistachios, nuts, chips, etc.), sauces, honey, sour cream, jam. Thanks to the slate part, while the board is not used for its intended purpose, it can simply be hung on the wall and used for writing.

To make this DIY kitchen craft, you will need:

  • Wooden board 5 cm thick;
  • Stain of the desired color (for example, to match the countertop);
  • Sponge, rag or brush;
  • Slate paint;
  • Two furniture handles and wood screws for their fastening;
  • Jigsaw or saw;
  • Screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • Ruler, pencil.

Instruction:

  1. Cut your board to the desired size with a hand/electric saw or jigsaw. In this master class, the board is 60 cm long, but you can make it shorter or longer.
  2. Paint your board with stain according to the manufacturer's instructions and let dry.

  1. It's time to paint inner part. To do this, first glue masking tape around the edges of the board to limit the painting area. Next, apply slate paint (in this case using paint in a can) and let it dry.

  1. Screw the handles around the edges of the board.

You can replace furniture handles with leather straps, paint the board in bright color, burn a picture on it or attach two “legs” to its reverse side.

Idea 6. Stand for mugs and glasses

If you're the type of person who collects wine corks (whether for fun or in the hope of making something useful out of them someday), then you'll love this craft idea.

To make one coaster you will need:

  • 8 corks (respectively, for the manufacture of a set of 4 coasters, 32 corks are required);
  • Roll cork board, mat or coaster for plates (for cutting out the base of coasters);
  • Hot glue;
  • Leg-split.

Step 1. Arrange your corks in pairs in a square format, as shown in the photo below. Using hot glue, apply a bead of glue between the two corks and press them together for 30 seconds. Repeat the process for all other pairs.

Step 2. From a sheet cork (board, rug), cut a square corresponding to the size of the future stand. Next, apply hot glue on it, wait 15-20 seconds. and glue your blanks.

Step 3. Fill the gaps between the plugs with glue and let it dry. For better adhesion of the glue to the corks, you can put some kind of press on the workpiece.

Step 4. Wrap the craft with twine and tie a knot.

Do-it-yourself coasters for mugs, glasses and glasses can be beautifully packaged and presented to a friend

If desired, the coasters can be made round, triangular or hexagonal, cutting off the excess with a knife.

According to the described principle, you can make such a hot stand with your own hands. By the way, in this case, an old CD will do as a basis.

Idea 7. Wall panel

Another craft idea for home and kitchen that you can make yourself from wine corks is a wall panel for decorating the interior and storing notes, memorable photos and postcards.

Panel of corks in a frame from Ikea

To work, you only need beautiful frame(from a picture or a mirror), paint of the desired color, hot glue and a large pile of corks. Corks can be laid out in a herringbone pattern, in a checkerboard pattern, in even rows and in other ways you like. If necessary, for example, if there are not enough traffic jams, they can be cut lengthwise or across. And to make the corks easier to cut, they need to be soaked in hot water for 10 minutes.

Other interesting crafting ideas wall panels with your own hands.

Idea 8. Universal knife holder

Knife stand - very useful device for the kitchen, which helps to contain workspace in order and keep the sharpness of the knife blades longer.

Making a knife holder with your own hands is very easy - just pick up a small vase and fill it tightly with bamboo / wooden skewers, colored beans or ... colored spaghetti, as in our master class.

To make a knife stand, prepare:

  • A container or vase is the height of the blade of your largest knife. The shape of the container can be any, but without any bends;
  • Spaghetti, lots and lots of spaghetti;
  • Several ziplock bags big size(or just large packages that can be tightly tied into a knot);
  • Alcohol (for example, vodka);
  • Liquid food coloring in your desired color (or multiple colors if you want to make a multi-color filling)
  • baking sheets;
  • Aluminum foil or an old oilcloth tablecloth;
  • Paper towels;
  • Kitchen scissors.

Instruction:

  1. Make sure your container is clean and dry, then fill it tightly with spaghetti. When the container is full, take out the spaghetti and add a couple more bunches of pasta to this pile as a spare (in case of replenishing broken sticks).
  2. Divide the spaghetti evenly among the bags and pour enough alcohol into them so that it can wet all the sticks. Next, add 10-40 drops of food coloring to each bag.

  1. Seal or tie your bags, then put them in additional packages to avoid leaks. Slowly shake and turn the bags to mix the dye into the alcohol and pasta. Next, lay the bag on one side and leave for 30 minutes, then turn the bag over again and leave it for another half hour. Continue soaking the spaghetti in this way (no more than 3 hours) until it reaches the desired color.
  2. Cover your baking sheet with aluminum foil, then a layer of paper towels (or oilcloth). It is advisable to wear gloves to protect your hands from staining. Remove the spaghetti from the bags, after draining all the liquid, lay them out on a baking sheet in a single layer and leave to dry. From time to time, spaghetti needs to be sorted out for them to dry evenly.

  1. Once your spaghetti is COMPLETELY dry, start putting them in the container.
  2. Shake the filled container and flatten the spaghetti. Insert your knives to determine the optimal filling density, add pasta or remove excess if necessary.
  3. Now, using kitchen scissors or other very sharp scissors, cut the spaghetti to the desired length without removing it from the container (best done over the sink). It is important that spaghetti does not exceed the height of the container by more than 2-3 cm, otherwise they will break quickly.

Idea 9. Jars for storing spices and bulk products

Today we will talk about the express technique for making a paper basket that can be used to store small things (keys, stationery), yarn, as well as for unusual serving of fruits, Easter eggs, bread or pastries to festive table or as a gift.

Even a child can weave such baskets quickly and easily.

You will need:

  • About 15 sheets of A3 thin paper, cut in half along the sheets (this can be printer paper, a sheet of newspaper in full spread, and even baking paper);
  • Capacity right size with straight walls (for example, a jam jar);
  • Glue in a stick;
  • One skewer;
  • Spray paint (optional).

Instruction:

  1. Starting from one corner, begin to roll a sheet of paper tightly around the skewer to a diagonally opposite corner to make a long and even tube. When the straw is ready, add a few dabs of glue to the corner of the paper to fix it in place and pull out the skewer. Do the same for all remaining sheets. In this master class, it took 30 tubes to weave 2 baskets.
  2. If necessary (for example, if you used newspaper sheets) or if desired, paint the tubes with acrylic paint.
  3. Take even number tubes and connect them together as shown in the photo in the upper left corner. In this master class, it took 6 tubes for a basket the size of a jam jar, and 8 tubes for a larger basket.

  1. Start braiding: take one of the outer tubes (which is under the grate) and pass it over the next tube, then pass it under the next tube, then pass the tube over the next tube again, and so on. Continue weaving by lifting the already wrapped tubes vertically (now we will call these tubes racks).
  2. When 2-3 cm remain from the first working tube, increase its length. To do this, apply glue to a new tube and insert it into the remaining "tail". Continue weaving again and again, adding paper tubes as needed.
  3. As soon as you weave the base desired diameter(the same size as the container), put the container on it and start weaving around it, pulling the rack tubes close to the walls.
  4. Having finished weaving the basket to the end, take out the jar and carefully wrap the end of the working tube in weaving.
  5. Wrap the ends of the uprights inside the weave and trim if necessary. Next, you can spray paint from a spray can, as in our master class.

Idea 11. Wall holder for towels and kitchen utensils

From an ordinary grater, you can make such a convenient and beautiful holder for towels and storing kitchen utensils or even live or artificial plants.

From a flat grater, you can make a decor for the kitchen in country style, Provence or Shabby Chic with your own hands

To make a heated towel rail and a tray for small things, you will need:

  • A grater (preferably an old one, but a regular new grater is also suitable, as long as it is metal);
  • Patina for metal (for artificial aging graters);
  • small cutting board or just a wooden board;
  • Wooden plate (for the bottom of the grater);
  • Glue.

Instruction:

  1. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to coat the grater with a metal patina, for example, in green, as in this master class.

  1. Install a wooden bottom in the inside. It must first be cut to the size of the top of the grater. As a rule, at the top of the grater there are protrusions from metal handles, it is on them that the bottom will be attached.
  2. Screw the grater to the board with self-tapping screws, having previously made holes in it with a nail and a hammer.
  3. Mount the board on the wall near the sink, hang a towel on the handle, put your spatulas, ladles or flowers inside.

Idea 12. Flower vase

Glass bottles from wine, milk or other drinks are almost ready-made vases that are just waiting to be painted. acrylic paints and/or clippings.

The kitchen is the place where the whole family comes together. Therefore, it should be warm and cozy for each member of the family and comfortable for the hostess. It is these factors that should be considered when planning repairs. Today, a do-it-yourself kitchen is far from an innovation. Often the template interior design ideas of experienced craftsmen do not suit creative and demanding customers, then they try to bring individual ideas into an already finished project or create their own style and interior from scratch.

Beautiful layout of the premises in a private house from scratch

If the scale of the kitchen or the layout of the entire apartment allows, then you can visually create it unique and non-standard. This can be done using drywall, podium, multi-level ceilings and spot lighting. Such repairs, of course, are easily soiled and long, but in the end you get a cozy kitchenette that you don’t want to leave. Also great option create a kitchen-studio or connect with a balcony, loggia. If this a private house(more details on the design were written in the article), and from the dining room there is access to the terrace, making a beautiful massive glass door, several problems can be solved at once:

  1. Increase the amount of light in a natural, economical way.
  2. Move the dining area to the terrace (more details), which is possible in the warm season.
  3. Place cabinets and the work area itself on the terrace.

The idea of custom wall decor at home

Partitions are also an important element of the kitchen space. Many psychologists claim that the right shades, color and pattern in the interior design of the kitchen can influence a person both positively and negatively. So, bright and catchy tones of flowers awaken an appetite in a person, but at the same time, with a long stay in such a room, a person quickly gets tired and experiences excessive nervousness. But gentle pastel shades on the contrary, they calm down. Therefore, for the harmony of the inner world, these colors are best combined. There are many options for creating a kitchen design and a headset, among the most successful are:

  • stickers, they can be pasted on walls or ceramic tiles(read also), you can pick up a series of drawings and create a whole story;
  • ornaments drawn through stencils (this is the most inexpensive way, because you can make stencils yourself by downloading a picture from the Internet);
  • paintings, panels, plaques and photographs;
  • painting.

You can buy ready-made wallpapers for the kitchen with a pattern (considered in the article) that you like, or you can paint the walls in a monotonous shade (they considered color advice) and insert with a pattern, as in the photo:

This is not only a useful thing, but also an interesting design.

Decorating furniture with your own hands, or how to create an inexpensive design (photo)

After finishing the renovation in the dining room, putting in a new set, it often seems boring and simple. To give standard furniture exclusivity, apply the following techniques:

  • decoupage;
  • painting;
  • plastic, foam pads that look like threads (great for giving classical style usual kitchen set);
  • special film: it can look like any natural material, made in any shade you need, or with any pattern;
  • non-standard fittings.

The kitchen interior and its design will help to dilute handmade textile decorations. On the Internet you can find many such master classes from experienced handmade masters. To give the old technique a new look, you can simply paint it or paste over it with a film. In the case of painting, it is better to use paint in spray cans, it lays down in an even and thin layer.

There is a special film for decorating countertops and facades, it is easily glued, you can choose any pattern or “material”: leather, metal, marble, granite and wood.
If selected as a decor bright colors and massive decorations, it is better to give preference to either walls, or furniture, or appliances. Decorating everything at once will make the room overloaded, and it will become difficult to be in it.

Make furniture for the kitchen with your own hands

There is nothing better than conveniently furnishing a space in the kitchen that can save space in the room and accommodate as many utensils as possible. Often, finished furniture in the interior of the kitchen is rather impractical. That's why experienced craftsmen assemble your own or remake an already finished one. Important criterion is functionality, practicality, space saving and, of course, external characteristics.

DIY interior textiles

A cozy interior in the kitchen can be created using individually decorated textile items. So, curtains, potholders, towels and even pillows will become not just helpers in the kitchen, but also decor. Elements made from the same fabric will look harmonious. It is better to use natural linen and thick cotton for such purposes. These fabrics are not very easily soiled, absorb moisture well and are heat resistant.

The decor of the kitchen, the photo of which is nice to show to friends, can be done independently. Of course, you will have to take into account many nuances, correctly combine colors, show imagination. But independent design is original, beautiful and, best of all, interesting. Taking on this difficult task, you can try yourself as a designer. About everything in more detail later in the article.

Possible style

To make the kitchen look good, you can’t immediately run to the hardware store, choose the finishing materials that you like there. This is a bad decision, because the result will be nothing to match with anything. But it is harmony that is the main property of a beautiful interior.

First of all, you should look at the styles. Each of them is a harmony, time-tested, in which you will not be able to make a mistake. Most popular styles for the kitchen can be divided into two groups.

Modern

The first are modern. The main advantages are that synthetic cheap materials are easily accepted and allow you to create a feeling of spaciousness. The main disadvantage is that not everyone likes it.

Among them, for example:

Already from a short memo it is clear what modern styles are. You can use any of them or choose one of the traditional ones.

Traditional

Traditional styles are expensive but cozy, reminiscent of the atmosphere of specific areas. Among them:

  • Russian. The colors are wood, the material is also wood. As a contrast, it allows inclusions of white, red, black, yellow, but in small quantities. The furniture is wooden, upholstered. Accessories in the design of folk crafts.
  • English. Better suited, of course, for big house than for a kitchen, even a spacious one, but it can still look good. On the floor is a laminate or linoleum under it, which is covered with a carpet. Wall paper or wooden panels. On the stove imitation of a fireplace. Beams, wooden or upholstered furniture, aged kitchen utensils as dishes. Textiles to a minimum. Colors are wood with undertones, plus brown or deep red.
  • Provence. Colors - white, cream, blue, pink. Laminate on the floor, wallpaper in frivolous flowers on the walls, plaster the ceiling. Light furniture, from natural materials. Cafe-style curtains that cover only half of the window. There is a vase of flowers on the table.

Of course the list existing styles much more extensive. But general idea can be made like this. It is not necessary to choose one of them, you can take it as an idea, and then modify it, remake it for yourself.

Stages

The repair process as a result is divided into stages:

  • Concept drawing. At this stage, you decide which colors you like and which you don't. Do you want minimalism or country music - or will you generally refine the style on your own. What materials attract you and what you do not want to see in your home. As a result, draw a sketch of what you want to get.
  • Refinement of details. The drawn sketch needs to be checked for errors. Did it happen that there was suddenly wallpaper above the stove that could catch fire? Have you forgotten to think over the furniture, have you decided what kind of curtains you want? How much will all this cost, do you fit into the budget?
  • Purchase. You can order with delivery, you can carry the materials yourself.
  • Finishing. Consistently, first the ceiling, then the walls and the floor, carry out the plan. You can hire builders, you can work on your own - as you like.
  • Arrangement of furniture and accessories. When the kitchen is ready, you need to furnish and decorate it.

If the concept was drawn up correctly, the resulting kitchen will look something like the picture from initial stage. But it can also happen that in the process the concept changes ten times. It does not matter - the main thing is that as a result everything is combined with everything.

How will we decorate the ceiling?

Ceiling - good start to think about finishing in general. It can be very different:

  • plastic tiles. They are rare, it is better not to finish the space above the stove with them, because they are sensitive to temperature. Moisture is not afraid, they look good and simple. Nice temporary solution.
  • Wooden planks (possible with imitation of beams). They are expensive, but they look chic and are well suited for classic interiors. They do not like moisture, they burn, but if you take expensive and well-crafted woods, these shortcomings can be avoided.
  • metal tiles. They are very rare, they are usually not used to cover the entire ceiling, since the roads and washing them are a real torment. But they can trim a part - above the kitchen apron, for example, since they are not sensitive to any impact at all.
  • Stretch ceiling. They are not afraid of moisture, they are easy to clean, therefore they are well suited for the kitchen. One minus - badly react to high temperature, because the space above the stove will need to be covered with something else.

And, of course, materials can be combined, getting beautiful ceiling from two levels, for example.

Of the interesting solutions for finishing:
  • painted- looks good, especially in ethnic styles;
  • a photo- allows you to simulate the sky, the sea and anything else;
  • mirror- looks interesting, unusual and allows you to seriously increase the size of the room visually.

Advice

Two-level ceilings - suitable solution in order to divide the kitchen into two zones.

wall decoration

Walls can be decorated with different ways. Among them:

  • Plastic panels. Suitable for modern democratic styles. There are very different colors, with different textures, glossy or matte. They tolerate temperature changes and moisture well. But they crack easily at the slightest impact.
  • Wooden panels. Suitable for traditional styles. At kitchen apron they cannot be placed, but they look good and the conditions of the kitchen as a whole endure well.
  • Tile. The most common finishing method. Does not burn, is not afraid of temperature changes, looks beautiful. Relatively easy to crack - but still harder than plastic. Easy to clean, not afraid of aggressive chemicals, with which both wood and plastic do not get along very well.
  • Dye. Common and simple, besides beautiful. Allows you to paint the walls at will, does not require much experience in work. does not suffer from mechanical impact from moisture and temperature fluctuations. But you need to carefully choose it - cheap paints are toxic.
  • Plaster. Or relief plaster. It has its own texture, usually matte. Allows you to create waves and patterns, give the kitchen an original look. Not afraid of water, temperature changes, but not suitable for all styles.
  • Brick. Like any stone, brick tolerates everything well. It cannot be set on fire or broken. It looks, however, specific.
  • Wallpaper. If you do not take paper, but take glass or non-woven, they will not yield to paint in terms of quality. True, it is better not to fasten them near the stove - they can melt from the heat. In addition, they are difficult to glue.
  • Steel. It is insensitive to nothing at all, but it looks very specific and makes the kitchen more “cold” and “strict”. Does not require special care, but expensive.
Of course, you can combine different materials. So, metal goes well with glass tiles, and wood with wallpaper.

Advice

The main thing is not to try to decorate the interior with synthetic materials. traditional style. The combination will look sad.

Floor finish

If the ceiling and walls have a lot of finishing materials, then the floor does not have such luxury.

There are very strict requirements for him in the kitchen - after all, something constantly spills or wakes up on him - and only a few materials correspond to them:
  • Tile. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind when trying to imagine the floor in the kitchen is tiles. Whether from a real stone, whether from artificial - in any case, it will look good and serve for a long time. To wash off something that stuck on top is very easy and you can use any chemistry. In addition, it wears out for a long time. The only negative is that if you drop something heavy on the tile, it will crack.
  • Linoleum. The second most popular solution. Linoleum looks beautiful, can imitate wood and is easy to clean. It does not have gaps like tiles that need to be cleaned separately. It wears out, however, many times faster and fades over time. In addition, if you put something hot on it, an ugly melted mark will remain.

All other kitchen solutions are not suitable if you do not want to spend most of your time cleaning.

How to post content?

The kitchen has two main areas - working and dining (unless, of course, you have a separate dining room in your house). They need different materials. Suitable for work area:

  • On the floor. Both tile and laminate are both durable enough to be used.
  • On the walls. Only materials that easily survive wet cleaning are not afraid of aggressive chemicals and do not suffer from temperature changes. It's either tile or expensive paint or a natural stone. You can go the original way and use metal.

The combination of color and furniture

Finishing colors and furniture arrangement are, in fact, work in the same direction - this is work with the perception of space. Some objects make it visually larger, others smaller, some interior solutions will expand it, others, on the contrary, will narrow it.

So, if you have a narrow kitchen that looks like a corridor, you need to remember the following tips:
  • The ceiling must be light. Otherwise, the kitchen will become not only narrow, but also low.
  • The walls are also light in color. Otherwise, the kitchen will decrease even more. A good solution would be to decorate them with vertical stripes or on the side long wall place large mirror or wallpaper. You can also paint the far wall a bright color to draw attention to it and distract it from the rest.
  • The floor can be either light or dark. The main thing is that it has either a diagonal or a transverse pattern - this will bring the far wall closer.
  • Work zone . It can be placed either in one line, or in two, or with the letter "G". All solutions are not bad, the main thing is that there should be a passage of at least eighty centimeters.
  • Dividing into zones using a bar counter

    If the kitchen is just small - not narrow, but small - a different approach is needed:
    • The ceiling should be light. The higher the room, the bigger it seems.
    • The walls should also be light. cold shade will make the room more spacious than warm. You can place photo wallpapers or mirrors on one of the walls, but wallpaper with a pattern is immediately prohibited - they will further reduce the room.
    • The floor can be both light and dark. Light - in a small but relatively low kitchen. Dark - in a small but high.
    • Work zone. Compact. It is important to use the space not only on the floor, but also on the walls - cabinets, shelves will help you rationally equip your life.
    • Dinner Zone. It can be a great continuation of the work. Combined bar counter, dining table, acting as a "second level" to the worker. In a very small kitchen, you can limit yourself to making a table from a windowsill. An original, fresh solution will help save space.
    If the kitchen seems too big for you:
    • The ceiling is dark. It is undesirable to use cold colors, it is undesirable to use completely dark shades. Something bright is better.
    • Walls too. The best thing - warm shade. You can make them light, but with a repeating bright pattern, especially small ones.
    • The floor is dark. You can also add drawings to it, you can do without it.
    • Work zone. Capturing almost the entire space.
    • Dinner table. Taste.
    The colors in the kitchen must be combined:
    • Main color and shades. In this case, the shades act as accents that emphasize any interior elements.
    • Two main colors. It looks good if the colors are contrasting and, as it were, are at war to capture the kitchen. You can make the working and dining areas contrast - this is a solution for modern styles, in which the brightness fits well.
    • Main color and accents. There can be many accents, they can be contrasting. The difference from several main colors is that accents do not color something big, only accessories.

    Doing everything in one color, without shades, is a bad idea. As well as putting a simple island table in the kitchen, without thinking that there are other solutions.

    Tables are different:
    • Island table. The most standard of the possible, placed on its own, surrounded by chairs. It takes up a lot of space, therefore it is not suitable for all kitchens.
    • bar counter. Tall, narrow, occupies less space, can be an excellent work surface, if necessary.
    • Folding table. Attaches to the wall and reclines if needed. Good decision for small kitchens.
    • Mobile table. Small, compact, more like a magazine than a dining room. The same solution for small rooms.
    • Attached table. Attaches to the kitchen set, acts as working surface, and as a dining room.

    To complete the decor of the kitchen, it remains only to take care of the decorations.

From time immemorial, the housing of a Russian person was arranged in such a way that the place of cooking was given a central position in the house. And today, despite the European manner of separating the "aggressive" environment of the kitchen from the "clean" rooms, kitchens live in our active social life. "Kitchen in Russian" is a phenomenon known throughout the world, and it is perceived as part of the national culture. If these traditions are close to you, do not succumb to any fashion - sit in the kitchen, receive guests there, adjust the design with your own hands and to your taste.

At the heart of every kitchen is a "working triangle" - refrigerator, stove, sink. For any size kitchen, the distance between these objects should be within 3 - 6 m.

The sequence of zones is dictated by the cooking technology:

  • Food storage;
  • Preliminary processing;
  • Washing products;
  • The zone of their cutting;
  • Heat treatment;
  • Serving ready meals.

If do-it-yourself kitchen design does not involve a global reconstruction, and the size of the kitchen leaves much to be desired, you can choose optimal ideas for working and dining area:

  • Kitchen design in bright colors;
  • Ordering individual kitchen furniture from floor to ceiling (L-shaped layout is convenient);
  • Acquisition of multifunctional household appliancesfood processor with a meat grinder, juicer, blender, shredder, microwave with grill and convection, etc.;
  • Installation of appliances in the kitchen panel (including the refrigerator, the dishwasher will have to be abandoned);
  • Rearrangement of the sink and stove, taking into account the rest of the furniture;
  • Acquisition of roof rails with hooks for small items placed on the wall;
  • Replacing a folding or sliding door, you can simply arrange an arch.

The best solution is to combine a small kitchen area with adjacent rooms (a hall, a living room and even a bedroom: for the sake of a comfortable kitchen, you can reconsider the entire layout of the house).

Kitchen design options

Among the modern trends in the organization of the kitchen space is getting rid of the kitchen, as a separate room. With the current level of development of technology, the “side effect” - odors and soot, can be corrected with a good hood and ventilation.

If in the recent past the design of the working area in the kitchen-living room was “camouflaged” with partitions and curtains, today no one wants to stand at the stove for days, turning the kitchen into a branch of the restaurant. Therefore, they decorate it with an elegant bar counter, transfer it to the window or leave it in the middle of the room, in the form of an “island”.

Young architects' project ideas are less and less likely to include the kitchen. Many convenient household appliances have turned do-it-yourself cooking into a pleasant and aesthetic process that makes no sense to hide from the living area.

The bar counter is a prestigious and fashionable detail: a view, like in a movie, space zoning. But using this furniture as a decorative part of the dining area for the kitchen is wasteful. To make the bar counter a full-fledged element of kitchen equipment, it is built into Appliances- refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, you can arrange a convenient closet in a niche or drawers. Such options suggest high chairs and a worktop from the side of the living area "bar", and from the side of the kitchen - a full-fledged working area. So that the design of the kitchen as a bar counter does not turn into a useless decoration of the dining area, it is better to order the design according to an individual project.

Examples of kitchen design

It is impossible to implement all current trends in one apartment, but it will be useful to adopt the most suitable ideas.

A spacious kitchen in new buildings opens up great opportunities:

  1. Open shelves and cabinets
  2. Non-built-in appliances. Will complement the idea open kitchen refusal of bulky containers for built-in equipment. Elegant metallic kitchen appliances look beautiful on metal shelves and racks.
  3. Small and transparent shapes. The feeling of lightness in any kitchen is sheltered by glass, reflective, illuminated elements and miniature details.
  4. Mixing styles. A cocktail from different styles may look like this: appliances and utensils with metallic sheen hi-tech style, ecological furniture made of natural wood, complemented by cute little things from a grandmother's chest. The center of the composition of the dining area will be an antique sideboard or a tea table with carved legs, harmoniously fitting into the context.
  5. Instead of repair - dressing up. If the interior of the kitchen with your own hands has not been updated for a long time, the design will not hurt it.

If there is no money for serious repairs, you can adopt simple ideas:

Decorating the dining area in the kitchen

Ideas to bring food closer to consumers are as old as the world: a window with a tray support and a door is pierced in the adjacent wall, and then the kitchen turns into just a working “laboratory” for cooking. Comfort and glamorous design are created in the adjacent dining room: big table, corner sofa or chairs, sideboard. The rest of the room is decorated arbitrarily, but in the same style.

Most fashion options dining table - a round transforming table that turns into an oval. Rectangular tables today are considered non-ergonomic.

Old kitchen stools should be replaced with upholstered chairs or upholstered with old ones, combining several shades.

The kitchen can now be freed from the decorative excesses of the dining area and filled with modern household appliances as much as possible. Hi-tech elements look good: metal surfaces, glass shelves, natural wood, laminate, complemented by houseplants. Unlike the demolition of partitions, which requires separate coordination with official authorities, a special window does not apply to redevelopment.
