Often, with its help, it is required to make perfectly even holes with axes strictly perpendicular to the plane of the workpiece. Anyone who has tried to achieve such a result knows that it is not at all easy. As a rule, holes are obtained with distortions. A stand for a drill allows you to solve a similar problem. To build it with your own hands, you need to stock up:

  • a bar or a calibrated tube;
  • a platform from a milling cutter (manual), which has not been used for its intended purpose for a long time due to its deterioration;
  • sheets of plywood.

It is allowed to use another suitable platform as a base for the rack. The main thing is that it be even and have areas where you can install new long guides. The function of the latter in our case will be performed, as you already understood, by metal bars or calibrated tubes. The process of building a rack is really simple. Let's describe it.

First, we cut out a box from a sheet of plywood. It must be done clearly according to the geometric parameters of the available drill. Then it is necessary to fix our power tool for drilling holes in the box prepared for it as securely as possible. Fixing is best done using special wing nuts. After that, we make two holes in the box and pass tubes (rods) through them - guides. We mount a handle on top of them. With its help, we will move the drill to drill holes vertically.

Advice. If you want to control the depth of drilling, it is advisable to additionally equip the structure with a quick-clamping latch. It will play the role of a drill limiter. All the described works for a more or less experienced home master will not cause the slightest problem. And in the end, we get easy-to-use and very useful home-made equipment.

Mini knife sharpening machine - reliable and compact

Now let's try to make a device that will allow you to sharpen kitchen and any other knives. We act like this:

  1. 1. We take an unnecessary sheet of metal (in any garage, it is always lying somewhere in the corner and waiting in the wings).
  2. 2. We fix a threaded bolt in its lower part, and weld a small corner on top of the metal plate.
  3. 3. We put a nut on the bolt thread. It performs the function of a hinge for the lateral movement of our device. With it, you can change the angle of sharpening knives.
  4. 4. We weld another one to the described nut. We got a ready-made hole for the stem in the bolt. It is easy to make from thin wire.

The clamp in the machine is the top of the sheet. We make two holes in it. We attach a clamp to the bed. Then we cut another hole. It must be through (common for the plate and the clamp). Next, we make a thread in the bed, taking into account the length of the bars for turning. They are optimally made from artificial diamonds. More wear-resistant and at the same time quite inexpensive product in nature does not exist. And we will make clamps for bars in a couple of minutes from a piece of ebonite or plexiglass.

It remains only to drill an additional hole on the plate, placing it away from the knife, and cut the thread for the bolt with which the tightening will be performed. A compact and high-quality sharpening tool is ready! We put it on a shelf in the garage and use it as needed. Machines made according to the described scheme can be taken with you even on a hike. Such garage sharpeners weigh a little, take up a minimum of space.

Maintenance and simple car repairs in a home garage are greatly simplified if there is a crane in the room. Look at the photo below. It shows how convenient and useful a garage structure can be constructed without much effort.

We will make a transverse bar from a pipe with a cross section of 10 cm, supports for it - from pipes of 11 cm. Important! Homemade racks are recommended to be made from square profile pipes with dimensions of 10x10 cm. They will provide the fixture with good stability. We attach the bar to the supports with M16 bolts (you can also take other fasteners), we fix the bevels and the base with a 10x10 cm corner.

In the nearest construction store, we purchase a lifting cable. We take the rollers for it from the drive mechanism of the elevator doors. Notice! The rollers must be well fixed. Workbenches, hanging shelves and other useful crafts for and storage of inventory can be built by any motorist. It is more difficult to make machines and special equipment with your own hands. But with the right approach to business, it is really possible to cope with such tasks. Let's assemble a compressor that can be used to purge the components and mechanisms of a vehicle, paint a car, and control tire pressure.

We will need a 10-liter air receiver (a device with a slightly larger or smaller volume will do), a refrigeration unit (old, not used for a long time), and also:

  • adapters;
  • inexpensive filter regulator (feel free to buy the cheapest one);
  • oxygen manometer for the receiver;
  • fastening clamps;
  • hose (approximately 200 cm), designed for 20 bar pressure.

The compressor assembly process is elementary. The receiver has outputs at the bottom, in the middle and at the top. The lower one is necessary for draining oil and condensate, the middle one is for installing a pressure gauge. A stream of compressed air is supplied through the upper consumer. We connect all the required elements to the outputs of the device, fix them with clamps. We connect the filter regulator to the receiver panel. Next to it there will be a button to start the unit. The maximum pressure of the regulator on a homemade device should not exceed eight atmospheres, the minimum - two.

It is advisable to additionally equip the compressor with an emergency valve. This inexpensive element will guarantee the completely safe operation of a homemade device.

The made compressor will be placed near the wall on a rack or shelf. It will not interfere when moving around the garage, being at the same time always at hand by a home craftsman. Advice. The old compressor must be well cleaned of rust before use. And then buy an aerosol can of paint and paint the unit.

Pulley for adjusting the speed of homemade machines and other crafts

We will briefly describe other popular tricks that are easily made from old tools and unnecessary things. Let's make, for example, a pulley for any machine tool available in the garage. The material for its assembly can be textolite, metal, plywood sheets. The last option is the easiest:

  1. 1. We cut out two larger circles and one smaller one in a plywood blank. The holes made in diameter must correspond to the cross section of the shaft installed on the machine.
  2. 2. We put all the circles on the screw, use the nut to tighten them firmly. Instead of this fastener, a good glue is allowed. It will securely fix all the elements in a single design.
  3. 3. Additionally, we tighten the details of the craft with screws.
  4. 4. With a file or sandpaper, we process a home-made pulley, apply a couple of layers of drying oil to it.
  5. 5. After drying, we put the made device on the cartridge of any mini-machine (let's say an electric drill). And we use the tool for our own pleasure, because now we can choose the speed of its rotation and control the load on the electric motor of the unit.

If necessary, actually make a toothed pulley. To do this, it is enough to cut narrow grooves (tubules) in a small circle. This part of the operation must be completed before assembling the pulley.

If you have an electric jigsaw that is not being used due to a broken saw blade holder, there is no need to send it to a landfill. There are little tricks to give the instrument a second life. On its platform, it is really possible to assemble a simple desktop jigsaw. We take a square of metal, solder a bolt into it. We get a new file holder! Solder it to the old holder.

Then we make a stationary desktop. We take a plywood sheet, cut it to the size of a jigsaw. We attach a wood rack to the back plane of the working surface (we use hard varieties), we install furniture legs on the front. Next, we mount the working structure on a suitable base plate.
