Installation and operating instructions for wilo pumps. Wilo circulation pumps for heating systems - a guarantee of efficient operation. More about modern circulation pumps

For real efficient heating impossible without forced circulation. To do this, it is necessary to install pumps, the design of which is designed specifically for such operating conditions. And often it is a circulation pump for heating Wilo: instructions, reviews, characteristics about which will help you choose the right optimal model.

About Wilo

Why Wilo? Firstly, this company is the founder of all modern circulation pumps. Back in 1928, she developed the first system for the forced movement of fluid in pipes. It was this company that made the serial Wilo electronically controlled water heating pump (1988). And despite the rather tough competition, Wilo is still the flagship in its industry.

The characteristic of the company's products is A complex approach to solve specific problems - heating, air conditioning or cooling. Therefore, the characteristics of Wilo pumps for heating meet the most stringent requirements, namely:

  • Wide Range performance characteristics– maximum pressure (up to 16 bar) and temperature (from -10°С to +110°С) of the coolant;
  • The centrifugal wheel provides radial movement of water, which greatly reduces the hydraulic resistance;
  • A feature of the Wilo pump for heating is the "wet" stator. Such engineering solution excludes the use in the design air cooling engine (this is done by the water itself through the stator). The bearing is lubricated in the same way;
  • Choice of control system - three-stage, with extended switching interface or with automatic adjustment power.

But not only these indicators are decisive for the consumer. All circulation pumps for Wilo heating systems are of competitive price and quality.

The pump in the heating system is designed to increase the speed of the coolant. But you need to remember that exceeding this parameter can lead to a loss of heat transfer from radiators, since their surface simply will not have time to heat up.

Wilo products

How to choose the right pump model for autonomous system heating? First of all, you need to calculate its power. Each instruction of the Wilo heating circulation pump is characterized by such important indicators as head (m) and flow (m³/h). The approximate calculation in this case is incorrect. To do this, all the features of the system should be taken into account - the height of the house, the volume of the coolant, the length of the line, the thermal mode of operation, etc. The best option calculation of the pump for water heating Wilo - online calculator or special program.

Only after this stage, you can proceed to the choice specific model. Reviews of Wilo circulation pumps for heating will help to form an objective opinion about the features of its operation. But keep in mind that the quality of the device depends largely on correct installation and the correspondence of its parameters to the characteristics of the system.

Some reviews of Wilo pumps say that they are inefficient during a power outage. To do this, it is necessary to provide sources of emergency power supply - batteries or diesel generator. Fortunately, the consumption of the pump of electricity is minimal.

Circulation pumps Wilo-Star-RS

The main characteristics of Wilo pumps for heating in this class are simplicity of design and affordable cost. Its design is a zigzag pipe, in the middle of which there is a circulation impeller.

Models of this class have 3 gradations of rotor speed required for uniform load distribution. Each circulation pump for Wilo heating systems has the following designation:

Wilo-Star-RS N/Q

Where N– the size of the nominal inner diameter (from 15 to 30 mm), Q– pressure value (from 2 to 8 m).

In addition to these characteristics, you need to know the connection parameters to the pipeline and to the mains. The Wilo heating pump device Star-RS has a 4-position terminal box and an external threaded connection with dimensions - ½”, 1” and 1½”. Design features are also expressed as follows:

  • Possibility of installation in any position with a horizontal shaft;
  • Protection class IP44;
  • Electrical network - 220V.

If, after preliminary reading the instructions for the Wilo heating circulation pump, it became clear that this power would not be enough, you can purchase the twin model Wilo-Star-RSD.

Her maximum flow can be 7 m³/h at design head 5 m. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the synchronism of the operation of the engines at the same shaft speed. Otherwise, not only the efficiency of the device will be reduced, but there will also be a possibility of its breakdown. Some negative reviews of Wilo heating circulation pumps do not mention the incorrect operation of a particular model. Therefore, their subjectivity should be taken into account.

The average cost of Star-RS depends on its parameters and can range from 2200 to 4500 rubles.

The price of a paired model ranges from 6300 to 6800 rubles.

The pump must be installed before the return pipe inlet in the boiler, but before expansion tank.

Wilo-Stratos circulation pumps

For creating automatic control water heating parameters, it is recommended to purchase Wilo pumps of the Stratos series. Their mechanical part is completely identical to Star-RS. The difference lies in the electronic control unit.

To visualize the current characteristics of Wilo pumps for a specific heating mode, an LCD display is provided. It displays the speed of the impeller. The switching part of the device includes the most common modules - CAN, LON, Modbus, etc. With their help, the Wilo pump device is switched with heating elements - a boiler and a programmer.

It is noteworthy that the number of models in the Wilo-Stratos series is significantly larger than that of the Star-RS. They have the following ranges of basic characteristics:

  • Maximum flow - from 5 to 62 m³ / h;
  • Head value - from 4 to 17 m;
  • Nominal pressure - from 10 to 16 bar.

Connection can be carried out both with the help of flange assemblies, and on threaded connections. The size of the latter varies from 1 '' to DIN-100.

Such a variety of models of Wilo circulation pumps for heating explains the large range of their cost - from 11,700 to 67,000 rubles.

During installation, carefully read the instructions for the specific Wilo heating circulation pump. It will necessarily indicate that, regardless of the chosen position, the shaft must be strictly horizontal. This is prerequisite normal operation.

Can I repair the pump myself if it breaks down? The video shows an example of restoring its performance:

Heating systems that use the natural circulation of the coolant are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Their low productivity, narrow focus and lack of high pressure in the system affect, which is important for houses with a large area.

Gradually, natural circulation in heating systems is replaced by forced circulation, where one of the main units is a circulation pump.

Circulation pumps from WILO: design features and main characteristics

Currently, the domestic market is extremely rich in all kinds of circulation pumps for installation in a heating system.

It should be noted that among them there are both really high-quality, well-designed models, as well as outright Chinese fakes that are not able to work for more than one season.

Naturally, if the heating system is chosen, as they say, "for centuries", then all the units installed in it must be of high quality, reliable and productive.

Circulation pumps for Wilo heating systems, produced by the eminent German concern, are in great demand among domestic consumers.

As you know, the Vilo heating circulation pump is the "heart" of the system modern heating And the manufacturing company understands this.

With over 100 years of experience, unique equipment and careful selection of materials, Wilo pumps are distinguished by their performance, power and reliability. Models are presented for both civil and industrial buildings.

Vilo circulation pumps - performance and quality

AT modern systems heating circulation pumps for Wilo heating perform an extremely important task - they ensure the rapid movement of the coolant in the network. As a result (and the instruction for Vilo pumps says this), heat transfer improves almost several times, and the efficiency of the system increases.

Also, if there is a Wilo circulation pump for heating in the circuit, you can significantly save on pipes, because the lines (due to forced pressure build-up) have a significantly smaller diameter than if natural circulation was used.

As for the equipment itself, Vilo pumps are practically silent, reliable and practical, have compact dimensions and do not require any special maintenance.

Any circulation pump from Wilo SE is a modern and productive unit, it works for a long time and without fail. It should be noted that installing it with your own hands does not turn into some kind of complex and time-consuming operation. And the price for such equipment is much lower than for analogues presented on the domestic market.

A wide range of Wilo pumps – an opportunity to make your heating system efficient

The domestic market offers just the same huge selection modern, reliable and high-quality pumps of this German company. In many photos and videos posted on the Internet, you can easily see the main range of equipment that the Wilo group really produces in abundance.

Among the most popular models Vilo circulation pumps can be distinguished:

  • WiloStar-RS and Model WiloStar-RSD- low-power, but at the same time reliable pumps, which are quite inexpensive. Ideal for various home heating systems. A built-in manual speed switch is available to increase the efficiency of the equipment. Pumps from this series are suitable for heating rooms with an area of 200-750 sq.m;

Circulation pump

  • Wilo Stratos ECO effectively replaced the previous generation of circulation pumps, ideal for integration into large heating systems in which the power of the boiler plant exceeds 25 kW. These are electronic pumps, in which power and performance are adjusted by means of a special system. Circulation pumps of this class are suitable for small cottages(more than 80% of existing heating systems). A feature can be called low power consumption and the ability to work with a coolant even at negative temperatures;
  • TOP-RL and TOP-S model from the manufacturer Vilo - circulation pumps designed specifically for buildings whose area exceeds 1400 square meters. meters. These are three-phase and double pumps, the operation of which is possible in modes increased efficiency and performance;
  • Wilo TOP-Z– pumps designed for systems where deposits of magnesium and calcium salts are possible. Such equipment perfectly copes with any tasks, provides normal work heating even with poor water quality.

Benefits of using Vilo pumps in heating systems

Modern circulation pumps for Wilo heating systems are an excellent choice for any property, be it small country cottage or industrial plant.

Use of Vilo pumps for systems with forced circulation coolant allows you to get a lot of advantages:

  1. Improving the efficiency of the coolant flow through pipelines, better heat transfer even in the farthest corners of the heating system;
  2. Reduced fuel consumption by boilers and, as a result, significant financial savings. This is especially true for large boiler houses on manufacturing enterprises and other objects;
  3. Extension of the period of trouble-free operation of the heating system.Circulation pumps able to create quite high pressure in the pipeline, which eliminates the deposition of salts from the coolant . In turn, blockages and narrowing of pipe diameters are excluded.

Conclusion

As can be seen from the above material, such pumps for heating systems (although their installation is also possible in hot water pipelines) can increase efficiency and productivity, reduce costs, and also eliminate breakdowns.

Pumps from an eminent German brand are surprisingly well integrated into existing and functioning heating systems (due to their low weight and dimensions). They provide a fast flow of coolant and its circulation through all radiators.

Nevertheless, their choice must be approached with all responsibility, taking into account the area of \u200b\u200bheated premises, as well as friction losses in pipes.

4 Description of pumps and accessories

4.1 Description of wet running pumps

In wet running pumps, all moving parts, including the motor rotor, are flushed with liquid. Shaft seals are not required. The liquid lubricates the plain bearings, cools them and the rotor.

The twin pumps are identical and installed in the same housing. They are equipped with an integrated changeover valve. Each pump can work autonomously, as well as both - simultaneously. Twin pumps can be used in two different versions:

Working and standby pump (in case of failure of the main pump, the standby pump is put into operation);

Main and peak pump (the latter is activated additionally at peak loads).

In this case, both pumps can differ in installed capacities. The twin pump plant can therefore be adjusted to the individual production situation.

Pump motor:

For single-phase current 220 V: special motor only for operation with single-phase current;

For 3-phase current 380 V: special motor for three-phase current only. The motor cannot be connected according to the Steinmetz scheme.

Engine protection:

Pumps with an internal diameter of 25/30/40 and an impeller up to 80 mm (single-phase and three-phase current) do not need motor protection. Overload current cannot damage the motor and cause it to stall.

The motors of all other pumps are equipped with contact winding protection (WSK). In case of impermissible overheating of the motor, protection via a switch, eg SK 602/622 or C-SK (accessories), switches off the motor. After the motor has cooled down, the pump can be switched on again. A circuit breaker (SK 602, SK 622 or C-SK) is highly recommended for motor protection. When using WILO switching devices for automatic regulation, there is no need for special switches, since they are already integrated in the switching devices.

To control the twin pump, an automatically operating switching device S2R3D is required. The motor protection switch is also integrated in the switching device.
Speed changeover:

All pumps have a 4-stage manual switch (on the terminal box) . At the lowest stage, the number of revolutions is reduced by 40-70% of the maximum. Energy consumption will be reduced by 50%.

Pumps with single-phase current motors have a rotary knob on the terminal box body as a switch (Fig. 1a, pos. 1).

Pumps with single-phase current motors with a power of P 2 less than 75 W can also be connected to a two-stage automatic switch (S2R-h, timer).

On pumps with a three-phase current motor, the speed is switched over by switching the 4-stage plug on the terminal box. In addition, it is possible to connect a 2/4-stage automatic switch (fig. 1b, pos. 1).
Automatic control and adjustment devices:

Devices for automatic control and adjustment of pump power depending on hydraulic needs are available in the WILO program.

5 Assembly and installation

5.1 Mounting

The installation should be carried out after the completion of all welding and locksmith work and flushing of the pipe system. Contaminants can impair pump performance.

- The pumps must be installed in easily accessible locations so that later inspection or replacement of the pump can be easily carried out.

It is recommended to install shut-off valves before and after the pump. This eliminates the need to refill the system when replacing the pump. The fittings must be mounted in such a way that, in case of leaks, water does not get on the electric motor and the terminal box.

Always install the pump in a system with an open expansion tank after its connection point.

Installation should be carried out without mechanical stress and only with a horizontally located pump shaft; observe the installation position as shown in figure 2.

The arrow on the pump body shows the direction of flow.

The motor terminal box must not point downwards as water can easily get into it. Rotate the motor housing if necessary.

ATTENTION!
Do not damage gaskets.

ATTENTION!
When insulating pipelines, only the pump housing is insulated. The engine must remain open.

For pumps equipped with a plug-in module, the module must be free of air.

5.2 Electrical connection

WILO pumps can be connected to the 220/380V power supply and to the European 230/400V network.

The electrical connection must be made strictly according to the instructions with a plug connection or an all-pole switch with a minimum contact distance of 3mm.

Sufficiently sized cable must be used to protect against water ingress and reduce stress on the packing nut.

When installing pumps in systems with water temperatures above 90°C, a temperature-resistant cable must be used, which must under no circumstances come into contact with the pipeline or with the pump casing.

Check the type of current and voltage in the network and compare with the data in the table on the pump.

- Observe the type data of the pumps.

- Network connection and connection of the SK 602/622 circuit breaker according to the diagrams (Fig. 3a to 3e) should be performed (see also 1.22 and 4.1):

3a: 220V non-blocking motor.

3b: 380V non-blocking motor.

3s: 220 V, with WSK (motor winding thermal protection contacts).

3d: 380 V, with WSK.

3e: When installing a C-SK switching plug, circuit 3d is replaced by 3e.

Perform grounding.

When using other protection devices, terminals 15 and 10 (WSK) must be connected to the motor control circuit (max. 250 V) together with an anti-reclosing device. Then the pump on all four stages is protected.

ATTENTION!

- The setting of the thermal switch must be carried out according to the corresponding maximum current for the selected speed stage (see type table).

When connecting circuit breakers, observe the relevant installation and operating instructions.
6 Commissioning

6.1 Filling the system and venting

Fill the system properly. Removal of air from the system occurs independently after a short-term activation of the pump. Short-term dry running does not harm the pump. If direct venting of the pump is required, this can be done as follows:

turn off the pump;

Close the shut-off valve at the outlet;

Carefully unscrew the bleed screw (Fig. 4).

- Carefully push the pump shaft back;

Protect electrical parts from liquid and vapour;

Turn on the pump;

After 15 ..... 30 seconds of operation, turn off the pump and tighten the air release screw;

Open the fitting again and turn on the pump.

ATTENTION!
If the screw port is open, depending on the pressure, the pump may block.

6.2 Adjustment

- Checking the direction of rotation of three-phase motors:

Before checking the direction of rotation, unscrew the screw on the front of the motor. By briefly switching on, check whether the direction of rotation of the shaft matches the arrow on the plate. If the direction of rotation is wrong, change 2 phases.

- Switching the number of revolutions:

Single-phase current motors: switching between the 4 speed stages is done manually using the motor terminal box switch. Three-phase current motors: switching between the 4 speed stages is done manually by switching the 4-stage plug on the motor terminal box. Loosen the central bolt and set the 4-stage plug with arrow to the desired speed level. Tighten the central screw again.

7 Service

The pumps are maintenance free.
8 Faults, causes and remedies

8.1 The pump does not work when the power is on

Check fuse.

Check voltage at pump (observe type data).

Check capacitor size (observe type data).

The engine is blocked, for example, due to deposits of solid particles contained in the system water.

Remedy: Unscrew the central locking screw and check the stroke of the pump rotor, unlock the pump with a screwdriver.

- If the pump stops due to motor protection, check the protection switch.
8.2 The pump is noisy

In case of cavitation due to insufficient suction pressure of the pump. Remedy: increase the pressure in the system within the allowable range.

The right to make technical changes remains with the manufacturer.

The circulation pump is an integral element of any forced circulation heating system. It is from this small device that the stability of the circulation of the coolant through the pipeline depends.

Pumps from the manufacturer WILO can rightly be considered one of the best.

Why do you need a circulation pump at all

In some cases, you can completely do without this element when it comes to systems with natural circulation. In this case, the coolant moves through the pipes due to the pressure difference that occurs when the water is heated in the boiler. The coolant expands when heated, part of it is simply squeezed out up the supply pipe, rising to the highest point, the water enters the radiators and, gradually cooling down, moves back to the boiler ().

The only advantage of such an organization for heating housing can be called absolute independence from electricity. This is important, for example, when heating country house or cottages in a remote area. In addition, the absence of moving parts in the system prolongs its service life.

But it is still better to install a circulation pump for heating Vilo before entering the boiler.

As for the advantages, the installation of such a device makes it possible:

  • ensure stable circulation of the coolant through the pipes. Modern models are able to reduce the number of revolutions themselves, making the heating of the house not so strong. This quality is especially useful in terms of financial savings;
  • the pressure will not depend on the diameter of the pipe (it is better not to use small diameters in systems with natural circulation);
  • installation of the pump does not reduce the durability of the system as a whole, modern models can last 20-30 years.

Of the shortcomings, one can only note the small cost of electricity and noise. But the boiler is usually placed in private room, and the price of electricity is not so high as to refuse the pump.

Classification of circulation pumps

As for the principle of operation, all devices of this kind can be divided into 2 types:

  • with a "wet" rotor;
  • with a "dry" rotor.

For heating relatively small house Preferably options with a "wet" rotor. They got this name due to the fact that the rotor (the part that rotates) is placed directly in the pumped coolant.

Wilo heating circulation pumps of this type have the following features:

  • almost completely silent;

Note! AT small houses sometimes it is not possible to move the boiler away from living quarters, so noiselessness is an important advantage.

  • lubrication is not needed - the rotor is in the water, so the coolant itself performs its role;
  • for greater reliability, the rotor chamber and the stator are separated by a durable stainless steel sleeve;
  • the only and rather significant drawback can be considered low efficiency - about 50%.

Note! A "wet" pump must be installed so that its shaft is necessarily horizontal.

To operate a powerful system, it is better to use a “dry” Wilo circulation pump for heating. Unlike the “wet” analogue, its rotor does not contact the coolant at all, and it is possible to achieve a high degree of tightness due to the pumped liquid itself.

During operation, a thin film of liquid finally seals the microscopic gaps between the rotating surfaces. Over time, the o-rings grind a little, but the fact that they are spring-loaded and simply shift by the amount of wear solves the problem, the main thing is that the grinding occurs evenly.

The main advantage of "dry" devices can be called an efficiency of more than 80%. And in the shortcomings can be written down high level noise, therefore such pumps are used mainly in powerful systems.

More about modern circulation pumps

One of the main requirements for a modern heating system can be considered flexibility - that is, the ability to adjust its power over a wide range. Circulation pumps for Wilo heating systems are the best fit for this.

In the distant past, circulation pumps were unregulated, that is, they could not reset the rotor speed. This led to the fact that the heating system worked at approximately the same power at any time, even when there was no particular need for it.

Features of the operation of variable pumps

Nowadays, energy conservation issues are Special attention, so in new heating systems unregulated devices are practically not installed.

Usage regulated devices allows:

  • change the rotor speed at any time, for example, to save energy at night, the device itself slows down;
  • set any operating mode manually, this is useful if the owner plans to leave home for a couple of days. In this case, the heating can be left at a minimum level.

Note! The German manufacturer Wilo produces models for work in very harsh conditions. If the lime content in the water is high, then you should pay attention to the Wilo Star models.

As a rule, the Wilo heating circulation pump can operate in several modes:

  • PP1 and PP2- in this case, the pressure in the system will change, and the designations correspond to operating characteristic with maximum pressure (PP1) and minimum (PP2);
  • SR1 and SR2- in this case, the pressure remains unchanged, and the pump adjusts to the flow rate of the coolant by changing the number of revolutions of the rotor;
  • operating modes numbered I, II and III. The unit corresponds to the speed at the minimum operating characteristic, II and III - the speed at the average and maximum speed;
  • It is possible to switch between day/night modes.

Placement and installation rules

If it is not possible to invite specialists, then the installation can be done by hand.

Just need to remember a few simple rules for installation:

  • it is forbidden to place the pump at the outlet of the boiler - the hot coolant will shorten the life of the device at times. It is considered optimal to place it on the pipe section in front of the boiler entrance;
  • the arrow on the body shows the direction of movement of the coolant, it must be directed towards the boiler;

  • when the pump is already installed and filled with water, air is removed from it;
  • the pump is installed so that it can be quickly isolated from water ingress if necessary. To do this, a bypass is arranged and a shut-off valve is installed.

The installation instructions for the pump are not particularly complicated, while using threaded connections so that it can be quickly removed for repair or replaced if necessary. Before installation, the boiler must be cut off shutoff valves. Also installed during installation check valve(with the exception of open systems) and a filter.
