Travel to IKEA - building a kitchen using a new method. How to assemble an IKEA kitchen: sharing personal experience Which cabinets are the method in IKEA under the sink

Ikea kitchen sets have been on European furniture markets for a long time. These are affordable and roomy interior items for any kitchen space. Therefore, they are in great demand and have good reviews. And recently, the manufacturer released a new product from Ikea called “Method”. The façade of the furniture, drawers and hinges has been updated. Spacious shelves for children's accessories have appeared.

How to assemble and install an Ikea kitchen set with your own hands? It's not difficult if you have necessary tools and at least a little experience. Somebody's help wouldn't hurt either. So installation and hanging is not an easy task. And the alignment of objects requires outside views.

IKEA furniture is delivered disassembled individual elements. This scares many people. You can, of course, invite an assembly specialist, but this costs money. Before we start independent work It is recommended to carefully watch the video, which shows the whole process step by step. In addition, you need to read the attached instructions from the breeder. Only then take action.

What you will need for assembly:

  • plastic buckets - 2 pcs.;
  • Phillips screwdriver No. 4;
  • sticky tape or tape.

Preparing for assembly

Assembling an IKEA kitchen with your own hands begins with unpacking the boxes of parts. There are a lot of them and it's easy to get confused. And there is no point in disclosing everything. This will lead to cluttering of the place. It’s better to do this: number all the boxes. Then draw a rough layout of the kitchen. Factory assembly instructions sometimes include a similar diagram. You need to look carefully to see if it is included in the kit. You definitely need to make a layout diagram for the cabinets.

The assembly area should be comfortable and spacious. It's better to remove everything from the room extra items so as not to trip over them. If the kitchen is small, you can move the furniture parts to a larger room. Here it is important to consider the size of the doorway. Finished headset items should fit easily into them. Otherwise, it will be impossible to bring in the assembled furniture.

Plastic buckets will be needed for storing small parts and tools. Buckets need to be placed nearby. Furniture packages usually include simple tools and spare parts necessary for self-assembly.

Step-by-step assembly process

  1. First, the sections are assembled. If you select parts for sections in advance, you can save work time. Therefore, it is better to spend a few minutes and put the elements in separate piles. This way the work will proceed faster.
  2. The second step will be to remove the doors from the cabinets and remove the shelves and drawers. Put these elements together.
  3. Next comes the installation of cabinets. By checking the instructions, the sizes and types of cabinets are determined. Accordingly, all the parts for the boxes are selected. Next, you need to correctly install the screws, dowels, and locks. This is done with a Phillips screwdriver. It is important to fasten the structure firmly. All sections of the headset are assembled in the same way.
  4. Small pieces are cut from the adhesive tape and pasted onto visible areas finished sections. Do not remove the tapes until the end of the installation process.
  5. Installation and placement of cabinets is carried out in strict accordance with the instructions. All sections must be placed in their place, as in the diagram that was drawn in advance.
  6. The doors must be hung evenly and carefully. First, the canopies are attached to the base and the door separately. The fastening points are marked in advance on the elements. Even a small shift can lead to damage to the part. You will have to dismantle the canopies and move them to other places. In this case, holes will remain and the appearance will not be aesthetic. If everything is done smoothly, the door will “sit” exactly.

You need to check its strength and avoid contact with the base of the cabinet. Otherwise, the facade quickly crumbles and becomes unusable.

If rails are provided for sliding cabinets, they are inserted into special holes.

Furniture installation

After all the elements of the headset are assembled, they need to be placed in their places. First, the tables are set up. It is better to cover them with countertops after placing them in place. In many models of sets, the tabletops lie loosely on the base and are not attached to anything. Therefore, it is more convenient to apply them at the final stage.

The tables must be level. This is checked by the level. If there are distortions, the legs are adjusted and adjusted to the ideal.

Hanging cabinets

After installing the floor cabinets, the wall parts of the structure should be hung. The first step is to mark the place for mounting the profiles. These are special strips for attaching wall cabinets. Craftsmen usually measure 140 cm from the floor to the bottom edge of the cabinet. You can also measure from the surface of the tables.

Holes are drilled in the back walls of the cabinets. Canopies are threaded through them. Which are screwed to the walls. The cabinets are hung on fastening strips using these canopies. Some craftsmen also fasten adjacent cabinet walls for extra strength. But if dismantling is necessary, it will be difficult to separate them.

Final stages

When the set is mounted and installed, decorative elements are attached to it. Door handles, glass, etc. Drawers are inserted.

Check the strength of the structure. Fasten decorative plinth near the tabletop.

The assembly of the IKEA Method kitchen is carried out in a similar way. The difference between old IKEA models and new products is only appearance and some small details.

Do you like Ikea kitchens? Now their assortment has completely changed; a new IKEA METHOD kitchen system has appeared in the Belarusian catalogue. It was developed for 2 years, and its main achievement is considered to be its full compliance with the needs of modern buyers. What's interesting about the new IKEA kitchens? How do they differ from the usual FAKTUM? All this is in our detailed review with a large number examples of ready-made solutions.

What are IKEA Method kitchens and how do they differ from others?

The name was chosen for a reason. Admit it, what do you miss most about standard kitchen sets? Variety of designs? A universal design that will fit into any room? Or maybe the opportunity to complement the existing kitchen with new cabinets and shelves? We hasten to please you - the IKEA METHOD series has it all (details below). Methodical fulfillment of the incredible desires of designers and all the requests of practical buyers - now these are not just words!

New modular system— IKEA Method Kitchens

So, how does METHOD differ from conventional kitchen cabinets and from the previous FAKTUM system?

1. Mobile. First of all, amazing mobility. The design is based on modular principle, as in children's construction set: connect what you want and how you want. A sort of “Lego” for creative adults.

2. All kinds of sizes. New IKEA kitchen furniture comes in a variety of different width sizes (20, 40, 60, 80 cm), meeting international standards, and 2 height options - for floor cabinets. Thanks to this, METHOD solves problems that seemed impossible. Is the kitchen in the attic or under the stairs? No problem - take up all the space up to the ceiling with cabinets, and there will be many times more storage space.

3. Multi-level. All cabinets can be perfectly combined into a single ensemble. This applies to both wall-mounted and floor-standing cabinets - different heights allow you to create multi-level work surfaces. Including thanks to the legs different heights. This is especially true for those who do not cook alone. Or for those who want to make the most of space.

4. Combination with other rooms. IKEA also supports the current trend - combining the kitchen with other rooms. And in the METHOD series there are many universal cabinets that are suitable for any room. Kitchen-dining room, kitchen-living room, and even kitchen-hallway (for owners of the smallest apartments) - now all this is easy to do.

Two colors of cabinet bodies - white and black-brown (especially for those who do not like “sterile” kitchens). This means that such cabinets will fit into any interior, including those combined with other rooms. And you won’t need to purchase additional overhead panels! However, if you want variety color range- overhead panels are also available in this system.

IMPORTANT! And the METHOD is incredibly easy to assemble. Unlike FAKTUM kitchens, even one person without special skills can manage it here, because the kit includes a special wall plate on which the cabinets are hung. Now you will save not only on custom-made furniture, but also on assembly.

And besides, for fans bright colors will like the new product kitchen furniture- open modules with colored inserts. More about this below. Ikea designers also took care of additional lighting for their new kitchens. Light up top or bottom hanging cabinets, lighting shelves behind glass doors or drawers - all this is much easier to do today than before.

As for FAKTUM kitchens, they have already been discontinued from sale, but within 6 months from the start of METHOD (until October 1, 2015), their elements can be ordered (if available in warehouses). A standard 25 year warranty applies to both systems. A few words about facades (doors). Almost all the old design options are in new system. But new products have also appeared, the analogues of which have not yet existed. How can you use METHOD kitchen systems in practice? There are many options, and we will show you the most interesting ones here. The names below are based on the IKEA name for the doors (=kitchen facades).

Four Kitchen Tours The IKEA Method Using White Frosted Doors

Economical white matte fronts (in new IKEA kitchens they are called VEDDINGE) can be perfectly combined with other doors. What can you see now with examples? different cuisines.

WEDDINGE + FLADI + TUTEMO

The snow-white matte fronts of VEDINGE create the ideal basis for something bright. And the green FLEDI doors and open colored TUTEMO modules are an excellent backdrop for your favorite little things. The flexible design of the cabinets made it possible to place them above the stairs, and bright colors made this kitchen a true gem of the home.

Here's what else a combination of white VEDDINGE facades and colored TUTEMO modules might look like:

FLADI

At first glance - the most simple kitchen. But look how FLADI's colorful green facades refresh it! Some of the cabinets were placed on legs - this makes them look lighter and more modern. The kitchen is good not only externally, but also internally - every cabinet and drawer is equipped with convenient shelves and dividers.

Other combinations of bright FLADI doors (matte green or red) + white VEDDINGE:

HITTAN + WEDDINGE

And here the kitchen is in an unusual place - under the stairs. Kitchen cabinets and facades different sizes fit perfectly into this makeshift storage room. The cabinet frame was combined with the countertop to create a compact kitchen island. And the HITTAN facades with wood texture are ideally combined with all the other furniture in the room and the white doors of WEDDINGE.

BROKHULT + TINGSRID + BJERKET + WEDDINGE

Another METHOD combination that allows you to see the variety of options for white matte facades - they can easily be combined with anything. Including three (!) options for different door designs.

In the photo: Cabinet combinations in the IKEA Kitchen

Note that there are ceiling slopes that would become useless dust collectors in a typical kitchen. But not in the METHOD kitchen! Here every square centimeter of the wall is used to the maximum. Display shelves METHOD and HORDA for your favorite dishes, modules with textured doors (TINGSRID - dark brown, BROKHULT - gray-brown walnut, BJERKET - birch), narrow side shelving - and all this fits perfectly into the bevels.

We hope that our detailed review all kinds of new products about kitchens You liked the method from IKEA. Happy choosing!

What is your impression of Ikea furniture? I will answer this question not from the customer’s side, but from the side of the installation specialist, since the assessment is based on operational characteristics only the consumer can give.

Ikea kitchen assembly fun

The fact that assembling an Ikea kitchen is a pleasure is clear. Even a non-professional can do this work. All you need to do is take a hammer and a screwdriver, and detailed instructions will be included with each product. The only question is how long it will take to assemble an Ikea kitchen and how well everything will turn out. I would like to tell you about one case from practice. The client ordered the assembly of four double-leaf cabinets from Ikea. During our work, two girls also wanted to assemble a small 40cm cabinet, deciding that they could handle it easily and quickly. While we had done everything and were about to leave, they were not finished yet. This confirms that everyone must do their part. So furniture assembly should be done by professionals, not amateurs.

Need to know about this furniture

For those who need to assemble an Ikea kitchen, you need to know that the furniture from this company is of excellent quality, the materials and fittings used, which exactly match the laminated chipboard parts drilled for it. The advantages include the combination kitchen sets with built-in household appliances from this company. It fits exactly, is easy to install, attaches well, and generally lasts a long time. Ikea appliances under its logo are produced by Whirpool.

Unfortunately, not everyone has quality famous brands. In kitchens Leroy Merlin, Castorama, K-Rauta, sold in construction supermarkets, the drilling may not coincide with the required parameters. Thus, the holes for the ties are under-drilled, and the holes for the dowels are over-drilled. Clearly, these errors complicate the work of the assembler. In such cases, craftsmen have to make modifications so that the furniture is installed correctly.

A little about assembling a Leroy Merlin kitchen

I would like to quote Leroy Merlin: “God forbid you order assembly of a Leroy Merlin kitchen in the store itself when purchasing a kitchen.” Also, it is advisable not to fall for the trick that promises free kitchen assembly. It is worth saying that there are no qualified assemblers in the Leroy store. You will be offered the services of non-professionals, perhaps even your friends who need hack work. Our specialists had to deal with the results of such work. Unfortunately, positive feedback We can’t leave her alone. There should be a separate conversation about the furniture produced by the Borovichi Furniture factory, although, to be honest, I don’t particularly want to talk about it. It’s just not clear in what condition the factory workers produce it. The only way to justify this is that furniture from Borovichi has a low cost.

Opinion of a professional assembler

Probably, as a professional assembler, I come across what seem to me to be obvious shortcomings, but the ordinary consumer does not notice them at all, or considers them very insignificant. Or, as an option, the customers themselves have underestimated requirements for the quality of the kitchen, because for that kind of money they don’t expect anything else. Some people would agree with this, but I think that Borovichi’s quality is at a very low level.

Here is an example that Borovichi had to encounter during the last assembly of furniture. The side of the kitchen pencil case (the same part) is shown from opposite edges. At correct production they should be mirror identical, but we don't see this. If you pay attention, the distance from the edge of the part to the center of the hole for the tie should be 8mm, but in this case it is 13mm and 3mm. It won't be hard to imagine how the pieces will fit together. Let's consider other cases with elements of furniture purchased in one of the supermarkets. On two of them we will see a half-glued edge. But this is not the worst flaw in the product, since these untreated ends will not be visible later. In the following photographs you can see the result that was obtained when the parts for the dowels were drilled incorrectly. Please note that only the right side of the cabinet is drilled correctly. The edge of the chipboard part is glued incorrectly.

Disadvantages of assembling an Ikea kitchen

What can be attributed to the disadvantages of assembling Ikea kitchen furniture?

Firstly, it is a fairly simple, minimalist design. Although, a lot is said about their large staff of designers developing new and original models, but for some reason I haven’t seen them.

Secondly, I would like to say something about the assembly of headsets.

The disadvantages include the fact that this manufacturer’s assortment includes only standard modules (30,40,60,80, etc.), which is very different from a kitchen that can be made to order. For example, if you have a dishwasher with a width of 45 cm, then you will only select a front of 50 cm, since they do not provide 45 cm. More precisely, they are on sale, but only metal ones. This option can greatly distort general style kitchens. So, you made all the facades red, and one for a reason required size They took it and installed a metal one. Will it look nice? A very controversial issue.

This solution, at the end of the kitchen, a built-in dishwasher 45 cm wide is located in a cabinet with metal facade, when others have it - sustained brown tone. So the customer has to rack his brains about how best to place the modules so that all the “non-standards” of the tiny Russian kitchen area, which is sticking out of the wall ventilation ducts or water pipes.

In my opinion, a drawback in the Ikea assembly range can also be considered the lack of normal wall panels. Often, when collectors come to the client, they do not find them at all, or they see them purchased in Leroy Merlin or Castorama. As it turns out, Ikea doesn’t sell them of the quality we would like to see. These are small 60x50 pieces, made of very thin plastic and inconvenient to install. One more nuance. In my practice I have never seen end strips for the tabletop of this company. So, if you have to tear it apart to install an electric stove, then the ends can be formed only by using connecting strips. The Ikea hem made for it is also incomprehensible. It is much thinner than necessary and is also not self-adhesive. For example, we will take a beautiful Ikea countertop and cut it with a jigsaw to the length we need. If you pay attention, it is covered with an ABS edge around the perimeter, the thickness of which is 2mm. For gluing the sawn-off side, we are offered an edge 0.4 mm thick. Wouldn't it seem strange to you that one end would be different from the other?

Before assembling the Ikea kitchen

In addition, before assembling the Ikea kitchen, it is necessary to take into account the need for “tight” fastening to the walls. So, after you have assembled the cabinet and installed it, you will no longer have the opportunity to even move it slightly. To secure it, you must either saw it under the baseboard, or vice versa. Since there is no distance from the wall to the installed lower module, which is necessary for engineering communications, then the installer has to make cuts for pipes and sockets. And with this option, the fastenings must be smooth walls and angles, which is a rare phenomenon in our country.

Conclusions

With all the attractiveness of Ikea kitchen furniture, entrust the assembly of the kitchen to Ikea better for professionals, because they are the ones who know exactly how to do it. Our specialists will help you assemble an Ikea kitchen in Moscow, call +7 499 340 32 21

IKEA kitchens not only look stylish, but are also easy to assemble. I decided to check this out on my own experience, and now I’m sharing it with you. In this article, you will learn about the difficulties that may await you from the moment the kitchen is delivered until the return of unnecessary parts. If you are just thinking about buying a kitchen, it will be useful to read the first two parts: and.

The kitchen was brought

When movers start bringing parts into your apartment future kitchen, count the goods: even if several items are in a bundle, their quantity is signed. If something is mixed up, you can issue an exchange or return, but if parts are missing after the movers leave, IKEA warns that it will not be held liable. I decided not to count units of goods at my own peril and risk, there were a lot of them - it’s worth giving credit to the IKEA delivery service, everything turned out to be in place and in the right quantity.

Assembly

Is it worth ordering assembly from IKEA? Professionals will definitely handle the task faster; they will set up everything, adjust and install the sink and appliances. However, for assembly there must be suitable conditions: For example, concrete walls, on which cabinets can be hung without problems. With our PVC panels the situation is much more complicated, which served as an additional argument to self-assembly, in addition to the presence of two skilled men in the family, an interest in working with their hands and saving money.

Kitchens from IKEA have detailed instructions and are assembled almost like a Lego set, simply and with pleasure. Two fasteners are provided for base cabinets: Wall rail and adjustable legs. If you combine both, it will be as reliable as possible, but you can also use only the legs. We only had problems with the installation dishwasher: It stands on its own platform and adjusting the height to the same level as the other doors turned out to be a real pain.

The scheduler advised me to put " decorative strips", i.e. plugs or voids between cabinets, closed on the facade with a piece of decorative panel. The idea was to mount them on both sides of the stove and one in the place where the kitchen forms a corner. The consultant left me only one plug at the stove and one in the corner. When we were assembling the kitchen, we abandoned all of them: they had to be cut out of a large and rather thin sheet, and we did not understand at all how to attach them between the cabinets and why they were needed there. The absence of plugs has not caused any problems when using the kitchen for three months now; the doors open without problems, although the contents of the adjacent cabinets heat up slightly when the oven is in operation. In the IKEA manual, planks are used only between the furniture and the wall: if you have an extra 5-15 centimeters left in the length of the kitchen, so as not to leave big gap between the end cabinet and the wall.

As a result, during assembly we deviated greatly from the original plan. My kitchen is located in the letter L: the long side has a tabletop depth of 60 cm, and the short side is 37 cm to save space. Initially, we took two countertops, but it turned out that the piece of countertop cut out for the sink was ideal in size for the narrow part of the kitchen. We happily made a table out of the second tabletop, installing it on cabinets that we planned to make wall-mounted, and hung open shelves on the walls above the tabletop. If you are as spontaneous as I am, you will love that you can change the planned appearance of the kitchen right during assembly. Are you afraid that there will be unnecessary details left? There is a return procedure for this.

Return

We found a place to adapt some of the extra parts, but a lot remained: 2 doors, legs, guides for mounting upper cabinets, a panel for a plug and a pair of side ones decorative panels. We went to return it all to IKEA.

All of our excess items were unused, many in unopened packaging. But IKEA, for a whole year, also accepts those things that you have already collected, and then for some reason you did not need them. You disassemble it, take the receipt and take it to the returns department. We received our money back for all items very quickly and without questions asked. It turned out that at IKEA it is more convenient to take spare parts for the kitchen and then bring them back, rather than re-order any elements.
