How to make a towel rack with your own hands?

Required materials and tools

Depending on what kind of hanger you are going to make with your own hands, you will need different instruments and materials. These can be pieces of leather or old leather items, massive beads and other accessories, wire or fishing line, as well as glue and paint. Tools are needed to attach the structure to the wall (for example, a drill, dowels, a screwdriver, or just liquid nails). For some options, you may have to make a drawing.

It all depends on your imagination, skills and the style of the future accessory.

To create an accessory you need:

  • Wooden or metal-plastic tubes;
  • Rectangular piece of leather;
  • Wall mounting (screws are suitable);
  • Glue (or liquid nails).

We fold two identical pieces of leather in half and attach them to the wall. The next fastener is located at the level of the first, but 10 cm less than the length of the wooden stick (or pipe). After the loops are attached to the wall, a stick (pipe) is placed in them.

To make the structure strong, leather straps are glued to the tube.

Such holders can be placed in a checkerboard pattern in the bathroom. Three crossbars at different levels look stylish. The convenience of the design lies in the fact that you yourself determine the parameters of the holder and at what distance to place the lower steps.

Stylish ring

Also an easy option. To make it you need beads, wire, a piece of leather belt, as well as pliers and paint.

There is nothing difficult about making incredibly beautiful and original towel holders yourself.

A loop is made from leather and attached to the wall. The beads are strung on a wire, closed in a ring and covered with paint. After drying, the “beads” are threaded into a loop. Or, alternatively, a leather loop can be placed between the beads.

Wooden, acrylic or plastic beads are suitable for this model.

The main thing is that they are round in shape and do not make “hooks” on the towel.

VIDEO: How to make a towel rack for the bathroom.

Every day a person spends a significant part of his time in the kitchen, preparing food or washing dishes. One of the everyday problems is the lack of hooks for towels. You wash your hands, but there’s nothing to wipe them with. There is no hook, nowhere to hang it. You are constantly looking for a towel, wondering where to make this hook and how.

The kitchen has been newly renovated, new furniture, and I don’t really want to spoil it all with Velcro for hooks, traces of which will be very difficult to remove. Installing, for example, roof rails is expensive, you still need to choose and install it. There is absolutely no time for this.

The towel should hang next to the sink, and do not flood the floor with wet hands every time trying to get to the treasured towel. I washed my hands and dried them immediately.

If there is a place in the kitchen where you can hang a hook, but it’s scary to sculpt it, due to the consequences for the furniture, you should opt for hooks with a vacuum suction cup. This product adheres securely to wood and tiles, and, most importantly, does not leave marks.

But it happens that there is nowhere to hang the hook, or you don’t want to constantly cling to it with clothes. Fortunately, there is a way that will help solve the problem once and for all and in just a few minutes. For fastening you will need:

    • A strong clothespin, it can be painted in suitable color, or leave it as is.
    • 20-25 centimeters of cable (old headphones, charger, etc.).

That's all it takes. Now the main thing is to build this simple structure. Let's get started:

    1. Cut the wire, thread it into a clothespin under iron ring(if this is not the case, make a small hole in one of the showers, which will be slightly larger diameter cable) and tie a strong knot from the two ends of the wire.
    2. Hang a loop with a clothespin in convenient place in the kitchen: in the cabinet above the sink, hook onto the dish rack, attach to the cabinet handle, etc. Hooking up is quite simple; to do this, you need to draw a loop around the handle or crossbar, thread the clothespin into the loop and tighten it.

In this case, a piece of double-sided tape needs to be glued to the clothespin, and the clothespin to the tile. Do not forget to degrease the surfaces before joining, this will strengthen the bond. If hooks are still preferable, you need to glue them in addition to the factory adhesive tape. double sided tape and connect to the tile.

Anyone can make these simple towel holders. Which one to choose depends on preferences and the amount of free space in the kitchen.

Of course, you can buy a towel rack at any furniture store. But still, sometimes you want to do something original, non-standard, individual. Floor clothes hanger in an unusual design

Perhaps you have an old clothes rack that you no longer use in your hallway. Or in the store you liked a hanger that you have nowhere to put. So, why not use it in the bathroom? However, if you don’t have a suitable hanger at hand, you can make it yourself. Let it be a strong branch that you found while walking in the woods, or a log on which you hang hooks. New item furniture easily, quickly and at no cost, what could be better?

In this note I want to share with you a little experience on giving new life to old things - small master class on repainting an old metal towel rack.

A little background: in the apartment we bought, the previous owners left an old Soviet hook in the shape of a dog. At first we wanted to throw it away, but the handicraft wave that overwhelmed us recent years I didn’t allow this to happen and it was decided to update the hook.

So let's go.

After the hook has been unscrewed from tiled wall in the kitchen, the first thing was to sand the product from old paint and "time lapse". Here's what the hook looked like right after we removed it from the wall:

Kitchen hook “Dog” before processing (front view)

rear view:

Kitchen hook “Dog” before processing

Cleaning is done with ordinary sandpaper of not very coarse grain. Individual areas You may have to clean it with a knife or file, but regular sandpaper was enough for me.

After cleaning the hook, the dog began to look like this:

Kitchen hook “Dog” after sanding

The next step is to prime the product. This can be done using either acrylic paints for primer or spray paint. My choice is a can of spray paint. The hook was coated with an even layer of white paint after which it was left to dry before it could be painted. If you also decide to paint from a spray can, it is better to do it outside the living space, since spray paint is sprayed not only onto the product but also into the air, which is not very good, especially if you have children. You can paint, for example, on a well-ventilated balcony after tightly closing the door and windows, or on the landing.

So after painting we have a hook that looks like this:

Kitchen hook “Dog” after priming

After the primer has dried, you can begin painting the product. For this you will need acrylic paints, water and a thin brush; for convenience, a palette will also come in handy. Squeeze a small amount of paint in the required colors onto the palette and then it’s up to your imagination! Since my dog was painted in white then it was decided that it would be a Dalmatian 😉
