There are two types of cutting elements:

  • Line with a cross section of 1.6-3 mm for the trimmer head. During operation, the fishing line wears out, and either the bobbin with fishing line is replaced, or the fishing line is rewinded and replaced.
  • Double-edged steel knives for cutting small bushes, or thick and dense vegetation. The difference between them is both in shape and sharpening.

The handle attached to the bar is equipped with buttons and levers for controlling the lawn mower. A protective casing is installed on the cutting mechanism.

Refueling is done into an existing tank, mixed in the required proportions with gasoline and oil, and gasoline is used with an octane rating of at least 92. It is impossible to start the engine - reasons

The first thing to do is check whether there is gasoline in the tank, and if so, what quality it is. The use of low-quality or low-octane gasoline leads to failure of the piston system. The correct proportion of gasoline and oil, given in the attached operating instructions for the tool, is also important.

The engine may not start if the fuel filter is seriously clogged. If it is severely clogged, it must be replaced. Do not use the trimmer with the fuel filter disconnected. After installation, the dried filter is moistened with the oil used in the mixture.

If after the above measures the internal combustion engine does not start, it is adjusted to idling using the screw on the carburetor.

Quick start of the brush cutter

The procedure is as follows:

  • Place the lawn mower with the air filter facing up, remove it and pour a little mixture into the carburetor, and put the filter back on.
  • If after the above procedure it is not possible to start the brush cutter, you need to check the spark plug. The internal combustion chamber is dried and the spark plug is replaced with a working one.
  • If the spark plug is working, proceed as follows. Close the air damper on the carburetor and pull the starter handle. Open the damper and pull the handle 3-4 times. The process is repeated several times.

  • let the engine sit to cool down;
  • remove the wire from the spark plug high voltage and unscrew it with a special key;
  • after inspecting the spark plug, it is replaced if it is heavily soiled, there is a crack in the body or any other malfunction;
  • check the gap between the electrodes, it is ideally 0.6 mm;
  • clamp the new spark plug using a special key;
  • connect a high voltage wire to the spark plug.

The lawn mower stalls after starting

The probable cause of the failure is a problem in the lawn mower's carburetor. A sign of this is that the tool vibrates strongly during operation. They do this - they adjust the carburetor according to the diagram specified in the documentation.

Another reason is a clogged fuel valve. They clean it. It may be difficult to supply the mixture to the carburetor, and then the lawn mower will suddenly stall. In such cases, the carburetor valves are loosened.

When too much air enters the system, the lawn mower also stalls. It is necessary to increase the engine speed and squeeze out the air, and also check whether the fuel hose is damaged. If defects are found, it is replaced.

Timely and proper care for a lawn mower is the key to its trouble-free operation for several seasons. It is better to spend a little time on prevention than much more on repairs, not to mention wasting money.

  • start button sticking;
  • limiter drop;
  • line break or breakage (loss of sharpness) of the knife.

  • a steel drive shaft having polyhedral or square splines at the upper and lower ends;
  • aluminum tubes;
  • a plastic bushing designed to maintain the centralized position of the drive shaft in the tube (to prevent vibration);
  • a rubber shock absorber needed to connect the rod to the motor;
  • steering wheel with a handle used for steering, and a stand, a belt.

Some models have a shock absorber between the steering column and the bar. All control elements(lock lever, ignition switch, gas button) are located on the handle.

A bevel bevel gear is connected to the lower end of the rod, but some lightweight models are produced without it. This is due to the fact that their rod has a curved shape, and the shaft is a flexible cable.

It often happens that the multi-faceted or square splines of the drive shaft “lick”, while the working mechanism does not rotate or does so with over-slip. Then the shaft is changed.

If there is no intact rod suitable for installation, then you can tighten the fracture site with a clamp or apply something like a splint. This measure is temporary, so you should replace it as quickly as possible.

Clutch repair

When the knife or line spins almost constantly when the engine is idling, and uncharacteristic sounds come from the front of the engine, this indicates a breakdown of the clutch. The cause is a broken spring. At the same time, the equipment mows normally.

  • remove the cover from the muffler;
  • remove the metal stand;
  • then remove the cylinder and starter caps to gain access to the clutch;

  • unscrew the clutch (shown in the photo below);

  • inspect the condition of the spring, pads and bearings;
  • a new spring is hooked by threading the hooks into the corresponding holes;
  • To replace the pads, you need to remove the spring, and then unscrew the bolts on them.

Repair of gasoline engine, carburetor and gearbox

Engine problems can be caused by problems with the piston system, oil seals, and rings. To eliminate them, it is necessary remove drive motor.

Determining what exactly caused the breakdown is not easy. If there is a warranty, you should take the mechanism to a service center for diagnosis and repair. If it is not possible to turn to specialists for help, then it should be borne in mind that most often the piston rings need to be replaced.   • remove the cover of the plastic case by unscrewing the screws or squeezing the clamps;
  • disconnect the rod with the crankshaft;
  • remove the cylinder head;
  • take out the piston and rings;
  • if necessary, replace them;
  • Reassemble in reverse order.

The rings should be installed carefully because they are quite fragile.

With regular use, the trimmer may gearbox breaks. The gears and bearings wear out (they can also break). To prevent this from happening frequently, this unit should be lubricated regularly. To lubricate the gearbox, you should unscrew the plug and simply squeeze out a suitable lubricant inside the assembly, turning the shaft.

You can only remove and clean the carburetor yourself, and also replace the gasket between it and the engine. It is quite problematic to determine the tightness of a unit at home. The main thing is to correctly assemble the equipment after repair so that the trimmer works without problems.

Common problems with electric trimmers

Electric trimmers differ from gasoline devices in a more simplified design. Conventionally, the electric scythe is divided into mechanical and electrical part . Accordingly, the same groups of problems that occur with this equipment are identified.

Most breakdowns cannot be visually detected. To do this you will need to use various devices. Visually you can determine the following:

What to do if the engine does not start?

If you cannot start the lawn mower, then the first thing you need to do is check the presence of fuel in the tank and its quality. To refuel the tool, it is recommended to use high-quality gasoline purchased at gas stations, the grade of which must be at least AI-92. Saving on cheap fuel can lead to breakdown of the cylinder-piston group, the repair of which can cost a third of the cost of the brush cutter itself. It is equally important to properly prepare the fuel mixture of gasoline and oil. The proportional ratio of these mixture components is indicated by the manufacturer in the manual. You should not prepare the fuel mixture in large volumes, as its properties are lost during long-term storage. It is better to use a freshly prepared mixture.

When preparing the fuel mixture, pour oil into gasoline using a medical syringe, which allows you to accurately maintain the required proportion of components.

How to properly replace a spark plug?

  • Stop the engine and wait until it cools down.
