So, consider the process of installing a swing interior door. The constituent elements of this design are:

box;

loops;
handle and lock.

Before installing the doors, you need to think in advance which way they will open. It is better to make an exit to the corridor, but if there is not enough space, only the opposite option remains.

Needed first. It's easy to do it yourself. But further manipulations are more difficult to perform alone, so it is better to take an assistant. The sawing of parts is carried out with a hacksaw or an electric jigsaw. You can assemble the box using nails, self-tapping screws, or by sawing out the lock according to the tenon-groove principle. In the latter case, the strips are connected perpendicularly.

If you use the first option, you need to cut the edges at an angle of 45 degrees. It is important to make an even cut, otherwise the box will warp or there will be gaps at the joints. Nails are driven from above and from the side to fix the horizontal bar on both sides.

A pre-assembled U-shaped structure is inserted into the opening.

When you bring the hinge halves under each other, lift the product, remove the support, then lower the door so that the top fits over the bottom.
Lubricate the hinges and check their operation.

Fittings and finishing of the opening

The final stage is the insertion of handles and fastening of the cashing. To install the lock, you need to drill through the door leaf with a crown, and then, using a nozzle of a smaller diameter, make a recess in the end of the door. Then remove with a chisel about 1 mm of material under the decorative overlay. The lock is installed in the canvas from the end and fixed with a plate. For example, the canvas has a width of 80 cm, then we get the following calculation:

80 + 1.5 x 2 + 0.4 x 2 = 83.8 cm.

Web preparation

We believe that we have already received the canvas and the door frame, based on the measurements taken. Now we need to move on to action. And it's worth starting from the canvas.

To work, you will need the following tools:

sharp chisel;
a hammer;
roulette;
a drill with a nozzle for screwing in self-tapping screws, with a drill for wood, the diameter of which is smaller than the size of the self-tapping screw.

We will not use expensive milling equipment, using only standard tools available to a wide range. And if you have the opportunity to use such a machine, the task at certain stages will be simplified and accelerated.

This will require the following accessories:

loops;
latch with handles.

So let's take a look at the door panel. Most often, damage can be on the edges, so you need to carefully examine them. If there are any problem areas, you should consider how best to position the canvas in relation to the opening and the box in order to hide the flaws.

Door hinges are hung, stepping back from the upper and lower edges of the canvas by 20 cm. We apply alternate hinges in these places (the smaller, inner part of the hinge is used). We make marks. A pencil will work for this. If dark material is used, for example, wenge, which is now popular, then you will have to choose an alternative. For example, use a ballpoint pen to press marks.

According to these marks, using a drill, we make holes, having previously placed the door horizontally, butt down. You can make them quite small in length, this will be enough. Now you need to try on the loops and secure them using two self-tapping screws (from the kit). It is best to do this with the same drill with a cross-shaped nozzle or a screwdriver. You should not screw in all the screws, because the hinges will still have to be removed.

If mortise elements are used, then recesses will have to be made in the canvas.

Next, prepare a place for installation in the latch web. It is believed that it is placed at a distance within 90-120 cm from the floor. We choose the optimal height for ourselves and family members. If there are small children, then it is most likely better to place the latch higher.

So, the canvas needs to be turned over (we imagine how it will work in the end, so as not to confuse the top and bottom). We attach a latch to the end, you need to outline its dimensions. Further, with the help of a chisel and a hammer, we make a recess, we follow the verticality of the actions. It can be pre-drilled. As a rule, in the place where such an element is supposed, manufacturers add a piece of wood. This is the case if not an array is used, but, for example, MDF.

We check that the core enters well. Next, you need to make a recess for fastening. We make its outline and, observing the thickness of the metal, create such a shallow cell. It remains to insert the latch core, check. If everything is fine (it is included in the canvas, does not protrude beyond the end), you can fix it with self-tapping screws (included in the kit), having previously drilled holes. We will install the handles later so as not to interfere with the assembly of the box.

Box assembly

We need tools:

chisel;
a hammer;
a drill with a nozzle for screwing in self-tapping screws, with a drill for wood, the diameter of which is smaller than the size of the self-tapping screw;
hacksaw for metal.

One of the most critical stages that requires special attention. Since we do not use expensive equipment, a circular saw is not used, which means that it will not work to cut the box elements at 45 degrees with high quality, even if you use a miter box. We will do it differently. Protruding elements will be cut out in the upper and lower slats for fixing the vertical slats.

You need to start with the bar on which the loops should be. Cut off the upper part at a right angle using a hacksaw (it will provide better edges). We apply to the end to determine the location of the "reverse" loops. The bar should be placed so that it extends slightly above the upper edge of the canvas - about 4 mm.

We put marks on which we apply loops. We mark where the screws will be, drill holes. We fix the hinges using 2 self-tapping screws.

Now you need to cut off the top bar of the box. In it, you just have to cut off the ledge. First, cut off the edge of the plank so that it is even and perpendicular to its length.

We apply the upper bar to the bar with loops strictly perpendicular, mark it. According to the mark, carefully cut off the protrusion at the required distance from the edge, and then cut it out with a chisel to get a flat base. We try it on so that there are no gaps during assembly.

We make holes in order to fasten the vertical and horizontal bar of the box with two self-tapping screws. Assembly must be done carefully so that the corner does not move out. We do the same with the rest of the corners, remembering the necessary clearance - a distance of about 4 mm should be maintained from the door leaf. From below, it may be larger, since the door may sag over time.

When the box is assembled, we check the gaps and the quality of the opening and closing of the canvas. Now you can remove the hinges from the box and install a convenient canvas to secure the latch handles. To do this, you first need to make marks for the screws, and then make holes. We fix the handles. Please note that in most cases it is possible to additionally fix them with through screws. This strengthens the handles, counteracts damage to the door leaf during inaccurate use, applying excessive force when opening the door.

Dismantling the old door

First, remove the canvas, unscrewing the screws with which the hinges are attached, if they are one-piece. Next, you need to make cuts with a saw in the middle of the uprights. This is usually enough to break the box apart using a nail puller and a hammer.

Opening preparation

It is necessary to clean the opening from the remnants of the box, finishing materials, so that nothing interferes with the installation. Next, you need to measure the dimensions of the resulting new box with a tape measure and correlate them with the dimensions of the opening. If there are inconsistencies, they should be corrected.

Box installation

Another difficult step. The box must be installed to the edge of the side of the opening where the door will open. It is necessary to achieve such an effect that the box maintains a level, while not protruding or falling in relation to the plane of the wall. If the level is not observed, the door will spontaneously open or close, which experts try to avoid. If the plane of the box does not coincide with the plane of the wall, there will be problems with the installation of platbands.

We will look at how to mount the box using a hidden method. It is implemented simply. Fastening with self-tapping screws is carried out in three places:

in the attachment area of two loops (holes are made so that the heads of the self-tapping screws are closed with loops);
in the “return” zone of the latch (the recess where the tongue will enter).

So, first we make holes in the area of \u200b\u200bthe loops, we fix the box, watching the level. Then you need to hang the door and make a "return" using a chisel and a hammer. In this place we make a hole to secure the box.

Wooden pegs must be inserted between the box and the opening, which will make it possible to fix the structure more rigidly. After fixing, we check how the door opens and closes.

Installing trim strips

Now you need to install additional trims. Most often they have to be cut to length. You need to accurately measure the distance from the box to the edge of the wall in several places. These values may be different, which means that the width of the edges of the additional plank will be different.

When the additional strips are installed, it is necessary to fill the space between the box and the opening using mounting foam. It is better to choose a composition that does not greatly increase in volume in order to avoid distortions of the structure if the foam suddenly expands, distorting part of the structure.

Installation of platbands

After that, you can proceed with the installation of platbands. There are several ways to install them so that the fasteners are invisible. You can take nails (2-3 cm long), cut off the hats. Drive them into the wall (if it is wooden) and into the box with the cut side. And then with their help fix the platbands. This method is dangerous due to the appearance of cracks in the material, therefore it is more reliable to make chamfers for self-tapping screws and fix the platbands with their help. Hats can be easily hidden using special accessories (in the right color) available at every hardware store.

The upper horizontal bar and two vertical bars can be combined at 45 degrees. If there is no machine or miter box at hand, you can also make 90 degrees, cutting the products at a right angle.

It is more convenient to assemble on a flat floor, laying a soft substrate. Gable panels have inserts (plastic inserts). They are hammered into special grooves. They must be carefully knocked out so as not to damage the loot. Use wood blocks for this, since it is impossible to knock on fragile plastic inserts with a hammer.

Fasten all parts of the door fixed base according to the “groove to groove” scheme, giving it a U-shape. Fasten the frame with inserts previously knocked out of the grooves, hammering them into the formed holes. Work with a hammer, but carefully.

Advice! In the bathroom, pantry, and closet, outward-opening doors are best, as an inward-opening door will reduce an already small space. Having collected the top of the box, you need to go to the lower zone. A tightening plate from the purchased set will come in handy, with which to fix the width of the door frame along the bottom. If the doorway is not made of wood or drywall sheets, where there are wooden blocks, then dowels or similar fastening materials will have to be used for fastening.
It is impossible to fasten the door frame through the front side, so as not to spoil its appearance and not to impede the operation (opening / closing) of the door over time.
Foam the crevices between the opening and the box later, using dry finishing mixtures, make a slope in this place.
While the foam hardens, you can start installing hinges and handles on the moving part of the door, as well as inserting the lock. Mark a place for the castle on the pediment and outline the outline according to its shape. With a router saw, carefully remove the top wood layer until the face of the lock is even with the door leaf.

For the inside of the lock, use a drill with a suitable drill to make a deeper recess.
Fix the lock with the fasteners provided in the set, harmonious in color and style with locks, hinges, door, plugs and door handles. To do this, insert the core of the lock into the drilled socket, put handles on it on both sides and clamp everything with fasteners.
The time has come to install the loops, the pins of which should look up, after which the canvas is put on. Work like a lock. Make sure that the loops are on the same level with the canvas.
Return to the loot, mark and hang the hinges, determine the place where the lock enters, make a hole with a chisel and fix the plug.

Set the crossbar (espagnolette) before inserting the loops. On each leaf, cut the hinges into the door itself and into the side post. Remove the fragment made earlier.
Hang the first door on the hinges, aligning it in level, as with the installation of a single-leaf hinged door. After that, carefully hang the second one, adjusting it in accordance with the first one, mark the place for the second beam and fix it with self-tapping screws.
After making sure that both sashes are level relative to each other, foam the seams. When solidified, the foam increases many times in volume, so it is better to use foam with a low expansion coefficient.
Before inserting the handles, fix the striker mating plate in the door frame.
The flashing (embossed profile rail) is nailed, smeared initially with hot-melt adhesive for greater strength, and platbands are installed.

Dismantling the old door

Without destroying the old, you can’t make a new one, so the work begins with the dismantling of the old door block. A step-by-step instruction for doing this work might look like this:

remove the trim on both sides of the doorway. To do this, you can use an ax and a chisel in order to lift the parts from the plane of the wall. Next, you can use a nail puller;
dismantle the facing of bevels;
remove the canvas of the old door;
if you need to save the old box, then work must begin from the side of the hinge rack. To do this, unscrew the fixing screws that fix the box in the doorway and push the box out of it. The gap between the lintel and the doorway will make this easy;
in case the box is fixed with pins or nails, you need to try to loosen the rack with a nail puller to create a gap between it and the opening and cut the fastener with a hacksaw;
sometimes it is enough to cut out the old mounting foam from the opening and saw the rod;

The door frame consists of 4 types of bars:

To implement this method of joining parts, you need a miter box.

This is a device for cutting molded products at a given angle. The part is fixed on the table with built-in clamps, the sawing angle is pre-set according to the scale. The fine-toothed saw moves along the guides, which ensures its stable position perpendicular to the table and, accordingly, to the specified cutting angle.

Such a device can be made independently from the waste of various building materials.

The cutting of parts should be preceded by careful marking using a tape measure and a joiner's square. After its completion, the parts are alternately installed in the miter box and sawn. After each cut, you need to check the markup and, if necessary, make adjustments to it.

The finished parts must be laid out on a flat surface in the form of a product, fixed with clamps and check the dimensions of the diagonals of the box. They must be equal. If it is necessary to make an adjustment, it should be done with a pass saw.

The fastening of the parts to each other must be done with self-tapping screws, sinking the heads into the body of the part. The diameter of the threaded hole must be equal to its internal size. Before installing the screw, it is recommended to moisten its threaded part with PVA glue for half the length.

Screws are installed on the side of each part. Their number depends on the width of the parts, but not less than 2 on each side.

Tongue and groove connection

This method is somewhat more complicated, but gives a more reliable result in terms of structural stability.

On the mating structural elements, grooves and ridges must be made. The main difficulty is the exact execution of such endings. A tight connection must be ensured with the coincidence of all structural elements. However, small deviations can be adjusted with spacers and adhesive-mounted tabs.

The parts are fastened together with screws in the same way as in the previous case.

This assembly method provides sufficient strength and stability of the structure.

Other methods of connecting the parts of the box are also used, but those proposed here, with their simplicity, are most suitable for independent execution.

Installing a box in a doorway

The main requirements for this operation:

strict verticality of the product in the opening;
the gap between the lower edge of the door and the floor is set depending on the texture of the floor finish, if carpet is provided, the distance between the door and the floor must be at least 15 mm, for linoleum - 4 - 5;
the coincidence of the plane of the box with the plane of the wall, which will subsequently allow the trim to be correctly installed.

Installing a door in an interior opening

We proceed to the next stage - installation of the product in the interior opening. Let's make a small digression. If the door is installed in a new apartment, then it is enough to check the evenness of the opening and correct the irregularities with the help of plaster and a trowel. Sand the surface, prime and proceed with the installation of the door structure. But if the repair is carried out in an old room, then it is necessary to dismantle the old door or interior box. It takes time, effort and skill.

The entire space around the box is foamed with mounting foam.

Correct installation of the door with your own hands requires the presence of an assistant. There are two options for mounting in the opening, but in each of them it is difficult for one to do all the manipulations.

First way. Installing the box separately from the canvas

After checking the evenness of the frame with a level, we install it in the prepared interior opening. Accompanying each action with a level and a plumb line, we set the frame evenly. It should not have even the slightest bias. This will affect the opening of the sash.

We drill holes in the vertical bar, twist the screws into the holes. They have to pull the box to the jamb. If the house is wooden, a long self-tapping screw will easily go into the log. If the house is made of bricks, it is required to make a preliminary hole in the opening and insert a plastic dowel under the self-tapping screw. Fasteners must be recessed into the bar so as not to interfere with the opening / closing of the sash.

Check the level of all surfaces.

Before applying the foam in the gaps, cover the front sides of the box with masking tape to avoid foam getting on the product. It is quite difficult to clean it up. Use a foam gun. The gun will reduce material consumption and the work will be done neatly. Take your time. Apply layer after layer from top to bottom.

After foaming the space, it is advisable to leave the door closed for a day. At rest, deformations will not occur, and the cardboard laid between the box and the canvas will retain gaps and will not allow the beam to bend when the foam expands.

The door leaf can be installed separately from the frame or together.

After drying, cut off the excess mounting foam, remove the masking tape.

It remains to fix the striker of the lock on the end of the box and install decorative details - platbands.
