Well, now I will show exactly how I cook and dry the fish. To be consistent. I'll start from the very beginning and point by point:

Early in the morning, we go fishing. Preferably away from the city, to places where there are few fishermen, and the fish are not knocked out by Chinese nets. We have a good time fishing. We catch fish. We are resting. We sunbathe. We burn.










On the day of fishing, the weather was changeable. It's hot, it's raining. But in the end, about 3 kg of large roach were caught:

I bring the roach home. I'm cleaning. Gutted. I cut off the heads and cut along the spine into two halves:





I put the cut fish in a prepared container.


I fall asleep with salt, sugar and red pepper. The recipe is simple:
for 500 grams of fish I use 1 tbsp. a spoonful of salt without a slide, 1 tbsp. a spoonful of sugar, 0.2 teaspoons of bitter red pepper.




I mix thoroughly. I close the container with a lid and put it in the refrigerator for two days for salting:




And I myself go to cover my neck, face and hands with cream. Because everything that was open burned down:

After two days, I take the fish out of the refrigerator. I lay out the fish in three layers on the dryer already suspended on the street and close it:

Let's walk through the process of making a fish dryer step by step. To do this, stock up on the following materials:

  • plastic mosquito net;
  • 9 metal rods 70 cm long;
  • thick wire;
  • a sheet of polycarbonate material for the cover with a thickness of 0.5-0.7 mm;
  • rivets, nuts, bolts, washers (5 mm);
  • "corner" made of plastic for fixing the mesh from the outside;
  • decorative "corner" made of metal for the lid.

We will design a device with parameters:

The dryer will be three-level: at each level we will place 3 metal rods, on which we will hang the fish carcasses.

Our work begins with the manufacture of the dryer frame. For this we cut aluminum profile: we make 4 pieces of 120 cm, 6 of 100 cm and 6 of 70 cm. We retreat about 20 cm from the floor and mount the rectangular box by screwing the aluminum pieces perpendicular to the longest ones.

It is very important to attach the profile so that a plane is obtained - this will facilitate the installation of the grid. We strengthen the bottom of the box with aluminum “corners”, screwing them from the inside.


We attach metal rods perpendicularly to the profile - 3 pieces at each level. The distance between them must be the same. On these rods we “string” wire hooks for hanging carcasses.

Then we begin to attach the grid. Try to cut it off with a margin, turning it inward when attaching. Make sure that there are no gaps through which unwanted "guests" can penetrate: flies, bugs and other insects. The bottom of the box is also sheathed with mesh.

The cover will be made of polycarbonate material. First, from the decorative "corner" we mount a frame of such a size that it can cover our box without gaps. We cut out a rectangle with a clerical knife, insert it into this frame, screw it. Now we can easily open and close our dryer.


The device is designed, the fish is caught and soaked in a salt solution - it's time to start the drying process. Take on a few simple life hacks, which will allow you to make a tasty and healthy product:

  • put the fish out to dry in the evening and let it stand until the morning: in the dark, the air temperature is lower, and there are no flies;
  • for the first hours, periodically blow the carcasses with a fan - this will help to “blow out” the specific smell and speed up the drying process;
  • start your practice of self-drying fish with small specimens: they cook much faster than large individuals and will not deteriorate in the sun.

4 bars of 120 cm each - the legs of the future dryer

6 bars of 60cm - crossbars

8 bars of 40cm each - the crossbars on which I will install the rods on which the fish will be hung.

From all this disgrace, I assembled the frame, this is what happened:

Very crooked but with a soul! It does not affect the meaning of the product in any way - therefore, I did not bother with precision accuracy.

I drilled holes in short crossbars, not through ones. I found rebar in the garage - I cut it with a grinder to the length I needed - and put it in the drilled holes - two rebars per tier.

The corners of the structure were fixed with corners

Corners with reinforcing bars inserted into the crossbars - gave the structure rigidity.

I decided that there would be few inserted fittings - the rest were sawn, I just grabbed them with self-tapping screws. The main thing is that a hand should pass between the armatures - it will be more convenient to hang the product.

We turn it over, wrap it with a mosquito - we grab the mosquito with carnations. The main thing here is that the mesh should be a little bit with a margin, and in one of the corners it went in two layers - otherwise the flies are such that they will seep into any crack

Bottom. I didn’t make the bottom of the mosquito, because the flies manage to place their offspring right on the net covered with smelling slurry (and from freshly hung fish, they will inevitably dig up the brine).

Therefore, I decided to make it from ceiling plastic.

I twisted the two pieces together, adjusted them exactly to size. Here accuracy is important - so that there are no gaps left - flies will not forgive lye

I put it in place, walked around the perimeter with screws.
