Often we choose furniture in the salon without paying due attention to its size and purpose, thus we “take away” meters of our living space and become the owner of an absolutely non-functional piece of furniture. But after weighing just 5 main pros and cons before buying, you can choose the sofa that you really need.

1. What is the area of the room? Will the size of the sofa match the size of the room?

These are probably the most important questions you will have to answer. Choose a sofa that will occupy a small part of your room and will not completely focus on itself. Remember what a giant sofa will do small room even less. small room no a big sofa or a couch, a large and spacious room - a large L or U-shaped sofa.

1

2. How often do you do you receive guests?

How many people do you usually visit at the same time? If you plan on hosting up to 8 guests at the same time, then it is not necessary to take a sofa designed for this number of people, you can take a smaller sofa and some chairs or small chairs that can be easily delivered or removed if necessary.

3. How long will you live in your current apartment?

If your housing is temporary, you should not buy a sofa, the design of which, although suitable for specific room, but may not fit into another room. We are talking about unusual L-shaped sofas or very long sofas that you cannot take with you when you move, or a brightly colored sofa.

4. Choose the right one sofa height

Another detail that we often do not think about when choosing furniture, focusing our attention only on the length. An improperly selected sofa height is just as capable of limiting space as the length, although it does not interfere with moving around the room. Furniture with high legs visually increases the height of the room, as well as sofas with a high back. standard height- approximately 42 cm from the floor. This rule is true for the vast majority of models. But some factories allow you to order comfortable sofas desired seat height.

5. How do you plan to use the sofa?

How often do you have guests overnight? Do you need an extra bed, or does the sofa play more of a decorative role in your home?
By answering these questions, you can understand what size sofa you need, what upholstery to choose, whether it needs to be laid out, whether built-in storage boxes are required.

The dimensions of the sofas are determined by medical standards. For a person to maintain his health and comfort, a place of at least 50 cm in width in a sitting position and from 70 cm in a lying position should be allocated. Based on these and other characteristics, sofas of approximately the same dimensions are produced. Dimensions vary depending on the product model. Be careful when choosing the right dimensions.

The dimensions of the sofas are determined by medical standards.

The height visually expands the space around the furniture.

The height of the sofa with two seats is from 80 to 100 centimeters. The length varies from 2 to 2.5 meters. The second variation is inherent in a one and a half size product. When adding modules to the sofa, an increase of 50-70 cm may appear. The depth of the furniture is a little less than a meter: 80-90 centimeters. There are models that provide a low hard back, but offer soft pillow above her level. Then, with a product height of 60 cm, the actual size of the back wall can be 90-100 cm.

Based on the characteristics, sofas of approximately the same dimensions are produced.

Be careful when choosing the right dimensions.

Sofas can be trimmed down to a depth of 70 cm.

Triple variations

A sofa with three seats is less popular than a two-seater. But it has more variations: it can be both a modular version and a corner one. Standard length- up to 3 meters, more often 2.5.

When adding modules to the sofa, an addition of 50-70 cm may appear.

There are models that provide a low hard back, but offer a soft pillow above its level as the main support.

Corner furniture

The depth of the protruding part of the additional module is 0.6 or more of the total width of the sofa. Dimensions start at 80 centimeters, and the maximum width of unassembled furniture is 100 cm. Corner furniture can be both three- and four-seater. Maximum length similar sofa - 3.5 meters. The height of the backrest is the greatest: up to 110 cm, but be careful - this variation can block the bottom of the windows.

Product height depending on the type

Little attention is paid to the height of the sofas, while the back is an important supportive support for the spine.

When choosing the size of the sofa, be reasonable.

In a large family, triple corner sofas, one-and-a-half folding products, etc. are needed.

How to choose product dimensions

When choosing the size of the sofa, be reasonable. You need to be based on:

  • room possibilities;
  • interior design;
  • the required capacity of the sofa.

The optimal increase for a sofa for each family member is 70 cm disassembled, 50 cm assembled.

In fact, there is hardly enough space on it, so be more wasteful: it is better to buy additional modules or use more spacious models.

VIDEO: Sofa size to choose from - "Smart Sofas"

The most important part of the decor of any living room is upholstered furniture. In her "embraces" we read, watch TV, listen to music, play with children, have intimate conversations. Modern models are able to respond to every movement of a person, allowing him to completely relax his body and soul.

To the group upholstered furniture are included various items: sofa, armchair, couch, sofa, ottoman, bench, chaise longue, pouffe, etc. The most common sofas, armchairs and pouffes (the latter can serve as a seat, footrest and even a table). As for sofas, there are three varieties of them, differing in functionality and design:
a place to rest plus a permanent bed. Such sofas are called universal. They are equipped with transformation mechanisms that allow you to lay out this piece of furniture daily and turn it into a double bed, as well as fold;
a place to relax plus a bed for guests. Such models are equipped with "clamshell" mechanisms ("Italian", "French", "American") and are not designed for everyday use as a bed;
place to rest. These sofas allow a person to relax as much as possible and provide freedom of movement during rest. Particular attention is paid to adjustable backrests, headrests and armrests, retractable leg supports.

Armchairs can also not only perform their main function, but also serve as an alternative to a sleeping place. However, now more and more often on sofas and armchairs they only relax, but sleep in a bed (if the living space allows you to have separate bedroom and living room). It is about such upholstered furniture for relaxation that we will tell.

1. Molecule multi-functional living room modular set, which includes seven pieces, has an amazing ability to change. It can be a round sofa, "disintegrate" into pouffes and small tables, or only pouffes of the original form.
2. compact furniture on a light-weight metal frame, it will organically fit into the modern interior of a living room or a hall.
3. Designer models Italian manufacturers are often extravagant.
4. The Dutch have an extraordinary way of thinking. This is clearly confirmed by the leather-covered CottonBall (Leolux) conceptual armchair, which cannot be confused with others.

Picking formulas

When planning a recreation area, two basic principles of configuration are used: an arbitrary set of structurally independent stationary items, or modular system.

Commonwealth of Independents. Leading manufacturers create both small sets of upholstered furniture and extended collection sets. Each of the items that make up the set is stationary, monolithic and structurally complete. The collection may include sofas of different sizes (for example, two-, three-seater), armchairs, poufs, couches. This allows the manufacturer to reduce production costs by reducing the range of parts. The consumer receives complete freedom of configuration (the ability to buy a set as a whole or select individual items from it). In addition, you can determine the composition of the recreation area yourself.

5, 6. The optimal height of a soft pouf for the living room should be equal to the height of the sofa seat. It is comfortable to sit on such furniture, and tired legs can be rested on it. Bright puffs will be a spectacular accent.
7. Howlo set with convertible headrests: three-seater sofa plus two armchairs.
8. Asymmetric "island" modules with speaking name Archipelago ("Archipelago"). Products with backs are equipped with a gas lift mechanism that allows you to raise the back by 8 cm.

Modular mix. Modular upholstered furniture is a constructor system consisting of a certain number of unfixed modules (sofas, armchairs, pouffes, couches, etc.). They have a single artistic and constructive-technological solution, and they can be easily combined with each other. The elements that make up the system resemble a set of cubes. Of these, in any sequence, they build a composition that can look like a whole. The construction method and the final shape are chosen by the user. In addition, the modules can be used individually or in small groups.

Find your corner. In the group of various upholstered furniture, a special niche is occupied by corner sofas. They harmoniously fit into both spacious and small living rooms, smoothing out sharp corners and layout flaws. Choose a corner right size not difficult. Corner sofas make it possible to do without armchairs and even without a low table if you replace it with a multifunctional pouffe.

9, 10. Graceful high legs, "friendly" ergonomic design, bright colors - these are some of the trends in the development of modern upholstered furniture.
11. This module can be part of corner sofa or a stand-alone item that provides comfortable rest.
12. An armchair from the extensive Genesis collection is reminiscent of classic designs.

Manufacturers offer corner sofas in the form single design or modular system. But in the first case, all the elements are fastened to each other through the corner section (for example, using M8 screws, steel bolts, etc.) or the sofa is combined with the couch using locks (say, wedges). This greatly facilitates the transportation of a piece of furniture, as well as its assembly and disassembly at home.

All components of a modular corner sofa, like any other design system, are autonomous. The range of manufacturers of soft corners includes dozens of basic elements that allow you to come up with and easily implement many interesting compositions.

13. A pouffe can serve as a seat, a footrest, a table, and convenient storage.
14. Leather sofa from the Dream collection (Calia Italia) meets the needs of the modern user and is a worthy example of ergonomics, style and quality.
15. Patented transformation mechanisms are equipped not only with sofas and armchairs, but also with Stressless pouffes.
16. Lightweight swivel chairs upholstered in bright leather are literally made for casual conversation.

Impartial ergonomics

Appointment of upholstered furniture - to provide comfortable rest. Therefore, when choosing sofas and armchairs, pay attention to a number of important details and parameters. These are the seat (height above the floor, width and depth, angle of inclination relative to the horizontal), backrest (height, quality of support for the back of the seated person, angle of inclination), armrests (height above the seat, width, upholstery), sofa construction and quality of pillows.

According to the requirements of ergonomics, sofas and armchairs are considered comfortable if they have a slight tilt of the seat back (up to 15), a large angle between the seat and the back (at least 120) and a head support. The greater the angle between your hip and torso (this allows you to stretch your legs forward and take a comfortable reclining position), the more relaxed your muscles are. Usually the height of the seat above the floor ranges from 35-48 cm (optimal - 39-45 cm). However, it should be noted that it is difficult for older people to get up from a low seat, and it is not easy to sit on it. A low sofa is not suitable for a tall person either - his knees will literally rest against his chin. But furniture of small height is very convenient and safe for small children.

17. Furniture can look fun and carefree, like a multi-colored modular sofa consisting of two chairs.
18. The chair, created on the principle of a mattress and a pillow, miraculously changes its shape, taking the shape of a human body.
19, 20. Mobility, functionality, ability to fit into any space make puffs indispensable attributes of relaxation.

seat height standard sofa- 42 cm. The depth of armchairs and sofas varies: at least 50-60 cm, but there are models with a depth of 77-90 cm. The backs of sofas and armchairs are low (no more than 32 cm), medium height (32-42 cm) and high ( from 42 to 70-77 cm). The height of the back of classic sofas and armchairs is approximately equal to the depth of the seat. Sofas and armchairs with a very high back (at the back of the head and above), as a rule, have not too deep seats - about 60 cm. For deeper models (from 70 cm) with a high back, an additional pillow under the back will be required, especially if they sitting small people. Sofas with a low back and a deep (100-125 cm) seat allow you to take a reclining position. And for a long time sitting leaning back on such a sofa is uncomfortable: too low a back is an unsuitable support for the head and shoulders. Therefore, the models of the latest generation have a folding backrest, the height of which can be changed with a hand movement. The most comfortable is the profiled back (with a relief profile), which has two convex supporting elements: the lower one - to support the lower back, the upper one - to support the upper back, respectively. The high backs of upholstered furniture, designed to support the head, should have a ledge at the top that provides comfortable support for the neck.

When "testing" a sofa or chair for comfort, keep in mind that the edge of the seat should not reach the hamstrings of the legs a little. If the chair seat is too wide, it will be uncomfortable to lean on the armrests. Therefore, most Stressless chairs (Norway) are presented in three sizes, and Himola models (Germany) - in four. Both are designed for different weight categories and body types. Pay attention to the height of the armrests. When placing your hands on them, make sure that your shoulders do not rise. If you do not follow this simple rule, a curvature of the spine may occur.

21. The design of the chair refers us to the streamlined forms of the 60s. XX century, but in a modern reading.
22. Lightweight Coco chair.
23. Youth collection Crack (Machalke).
24. Sofa for two for a small living room.

Swing, spin, relax!

Personal comfort can be provided by models in the frames of which folding mechanisms are used. Sofas, armchairs and pouffes equipped with it are very comfortable and ergonomic. Whatever position you take while sitting on them, it will allow you to relax and will not cause any harm to your health. Such models are called recliners (from the English to recline - "lean back", "reclining"). Today it is one of the most promising areas in the development of upholstered furniture. In addition to armchairs, there are recliner sofas. They represent a number of chairs or one located on the side. ordinary sofa such as a built-in TV armchair or a side element with a massage function on Cumulus (Himolla) sofas. At the same time, manually or from the control panel, you can adjust the position of the headrest cushion, armrests, retractable footrest, height and angle of inclination of all elements. Such furniture is produced by reputable European manufacturers: Artanova (Switzerland), Bruhl, Gepade, Machalke, Rolf Benz (all - Germany), Pohjanmaan Kaluste (Finland), Sedac-Meral (France - Belgium), Valmori (Italy), State (USA) , Himolla , Stressless. Recliners are also manufactured by domestic factories: "8 March", M bel Zeit, "Kalinka", "Moon", Papillon, as well as Record Bedding (Russia - Belgium).

The most advanced models are fraught with many possibilities. The self-adjusting headrest automatically moves according to the person's posture, so the user can read or watch TV with particular comfort. Supporting your head, the chair simultaneously provides anatomically correct and secure lumbar support, whether you are sitting upright or leaning back. It is worth throwing your hands behind your head and pulling the headrest towards you - and the back will take a position that is comfortable for sleeping. Armrests equipped with a raster mechanism are arranged according to the same principle. For Stressless chairs, it is enough to adjust a special wheel once, and in the future this furniture will automatically adjust to the weight of your body. Thanks to the built-in sliding system top part The padded stool included in the set of the chair obediently follows the movement of the legs. The base of the chair has a built-in ring that allows you to turn 360.

The Sedac-Meral chair unfolds when you transfer the entire weight of your body to the back of the chair. At the same time, the footrest extends and rises in front. To fully expand the chair, you just need to rest your hands on the frame and push back a little. The mechanism will lower parallel to the floor, and you will assume an almost horizontal position. To return to its original position, you just need to rise and transfer your body weight to the seat, while helping the footrest to lower down with your feet. The seat depth of the sofas can be adjusted individually for each user (for example, in models from M bel Zeit, Kalinka). In recliners, other functions are also provided: turning the chair into a rocking chair (“glider” mechanism), built-in massager (Himolla), etc.

Recliners require additional free space to be fully unfolded. These sofas and armchairs fit harmoniously into modern interiors, but in classical ones they can look like alien objects. The price of a recliner chair is from 30 thousand rubles.

How to care? Gently!

Caring for upholstered furniture begins with careful operation, and it, in turn, with correct placement. Do not put sofas and armchairs near heating appliances, keep them away from direct sun rays. If you regularly vacuum your furniture, you can keep it in pristine condition. long years. Do a wet cleaning about once a month. At the same time, pay special attention to the seams, in which dust usually accumulates. If you wipe the products with a cloth slightly moistened with vinegar, the color of the upholstery will become brighter. Remove spilled liquid from the upholstery immediately so that it does not spread over the surface and is not absorbed.

with frame

Most upholstered furniture has a rigid frame, which is made of natural wood, metal, or a combination of metal elements, plywood, wood boards(chipboard or fiberboard). The quality of the frame affects the life of the furniture. In expensive models, wood is most often used. Various parts of the construction of such furniture are connected not with nails and screws, but with the help of specially designed tongue-and-groove joints. Such products (manufactured by European companies) last a very long time. carelessly).

It must be borne in mind that chipboard elements must be completely covered with a film or cloth. If chipboard is used directly for the supporting frame of the sofa and hinges are screwed into these plates, the life of such a product will be short. In addition, chipboard frames make the object heavier. More reliable is considered to be welded metal frames although they are also not very light.

25. The original Kikko chair, which means "turtle" in Japanese. The spectacular seat pattern really reminds of giant turtle. By lowering the backrest so that it is parallel to the seat, you will get additional space. With just a flick of the wrist, Kikko can also be turned into a sun lounger. Large sliding supports and low weight make it easy to move the item around the living room.
26. Baron's modular program features elements different sizes and configurations. You can choose any of the three options for corner modules: with a reclining coffee table; with a two-section bar; with a bar, the lid of which turns into a coffee table.
27. While watching a movie, we make more than 300 movements. Upholstered home theater furniture responds to each of them. Synchronous movement of the headrest and lumbar support is ensured by the Plus system.
28. The modular complex "Lion" ("Good Style") provides many interesting solutions, thanks to which the environment will never get bored. The modules are not connected by any fasteners, and you can easily swap places, for example, an armchair and a corner table.

Formless Comfort

About 40 years ago, a group of Italian designers decided to realize the dream of creating frameless upholstered furniture. They removed the hard frame to make it easier for the user to customize it. This is how the bean bag chair appeared, which got its name due to the absence of a form as such. At the same time, it takes on the shape of the body of a person sitting on it, and provides emancipation and comfort. AT last years the bean bag chair has become very popular. There are also similar sofas and ottomans. On a frameless sofa, you can seat several friends or transform it into a bed, chill-out. Inside these bags are small balls of polyurethane foam.

Bean bags are especially loved by children: they are so good for jumping and somersaulting, they are safe because they are devoid of sharp and hard parts. Young people also like bags. A variety of frameless furniture pleases with bright colors and original design. It is produced by Ewald, Airpuff, Relax Service (all in Russia), Mebleff, NST Alliance (both in Ukraine), Aqua Creations (Israel), Leolux (Netherlands) and others. A child seat costs from 1500 rubles, adult - 2500-5000 rubles.

Soft - hard

In modern sofas and armchairs, the fillers are mainly polyurethane foam or fibrous mass, less often - sintepuh. Widely used and spring blocks different types. The seats and backs of sofas and armchairs should not be pressed too deeply under the weight of the body. Softness and elasticity cannot be determined by touch - you need to sit on the pillows and maybe even jump a little. If they are excessively pliable and do not return to their original position, but “fail”, then insufficiently dense and durable material has been used. Conscientious manufacturers of upholstered furniture indicate the specific gravity of the filler on the product labeling.

It is noted that people perceive rubber, latex (natural rubber), horsehair, sheep wool and swan fluff than foam rubber, synthetic winterizer, etc. Given the constant interaction of fillers with the human body, manufacturers of expensive furniture are trying to use natural ingredients. And if they use synthetic materials, then passed medical and technical testing.

In sight

The choice of texture and color of upholstery material is a matter of taste. In our opinion, it is much more important how this fabric is durable and easy to use. Upholstery fabrics are natural, mixed and synthetic (for example, tech, arpatek). There are also specially created materials with Teflon impregnation, on which there are no traces of fat, tea, coffee, wine, milk. Upholstery fabrics may include mohair, silk, lycra, metallic threads. Suede is popular - natural and artificial, or alcantara (very pleasant to the touch and wear-resistant). Most often, traditional tapestries, jacquard, fleecy velor and flock, faux fur, cotton are used as upholstery.

Upholstery fabrics are usually divided into categories depending on performance properties. European and domestic manufacturers designate these digits in different ways - with letters or numbers. Each matter has a certain density, measured in grams per 1 m 2 (for example, the density of chenille is 440 g per 1 m 2). Important parameters are the abrasion of the fabric and its resistance to fading. Genuine leather takes special place among upholstery materials. Leather upholstered furniture is prestigious and durable, but 2-3 times more expensive than covered with fabric.

Choose a sofa according to its legs!

fashion sign modern sofa- legs, low, but very graceful. Thanks to them, sofas that have stood solidly on the floor for many years have gained lightness. When buying furniture, pay attention to the material from which the legs are made (steel is best). A large stationary sofa should also have a fifth leg so that the seat does not sag.

Where is the furniture and how much?

Italian upholstered furniture is, first of all, the originality of solutions that combine traditional quality and experiment. The modern directions of her design reflect the freedom of style and new trends. As an example, we will give models of the factories Acam, Arketipo, Bonaldo, Comfort, CTS Salotti, Mussi, Natuzzi, Nieri, Relotti, Valmori, Vibieffe, etc. Classic upholstered furniture is produced by Busnelli, Ceppi, Creazioni, Mantellassi, Valdichienti, Zanaboni.

German upholstered furniture, as a rule, is an alliance of classics and modern design and different supreme comfort. It is produced by Driftmeier, Franz Fertig, Himolla, Hukla, Kler, Machalke, Oelsa, W. Schillig and others. This also applies to Wittmann (Austria) products. Sofas, armchairs and pouffes from Scandinavia are characterized by practicality, balanced design and increased comfort. It is worth mentioning the products of the companies Adea Collection, Asko, FinnFani, Pohjanmaan Kaluste, Relax (all from Finland), Innovation (Denmark). Sofas and armchairs in original bold colors are designed for bright and extravagant people. Spanish manufacturers are represented by factories Coleccion Alexandra, Gamintern, Taymoble, Tecni Nova, Vidal Grau, Soher, Jant y Jal and others.

Among other manufacturers of upholstered furniture, we note the de Sede factory (Switzerland). Among domestic manufacturers- holding "8 March" (which includes the factories "8 March", Albert Shtein, Anderssen, Roybuch, Britanica, "Tsekh"), the factories M bel Zeit, "Allegro-Classic", "Good Style", "Kalinka", " Conceptum", "Mikmar", "Prestige-Mebel", "Sola-M", Dival, Pushe, Rival. Let's also call L-Style (Russia - Italy), "Laguna" (Belarus).

Prices for upholstered furniture depend on the quality of the frame materials, the composition of the filler, upholstery, design, availability decorative ornaments, handmade, folding mechanisms. For example, if you can regulate the operation of the latter from the control panel, the product will be 12-30 thousand rubles more expensive than usual. The cost is also affected by the package bundle or the number of modules.

Domestic sofas covered with fabric cost from 15-20 thousand rubles, and upholstered in leather - from 30-50 thousand rubles. The most economical corner compositions will cost 25-30 thousand rubles, but the real price is from 40 thousand rubles. For a modular system, depending on the configuration, you will have to pay 57-90 thousand rubles. Prices for chairs start from 5-10 thousand rubles. Furniture from leading European manufacturers is at least 2 times more expensive.

But money isn't everything. "In order to buy nice sofa, you need your own view of the world, your own experience, your own philosophy ”(Haruki Murakami.“ Wonderland without brakes and the End of the World ”).

Direct

This type is considered the most common and often chosen for various residential premises. A folding piece of furniture is used not only for sitting, but also for sleeping. It is usually chosen if the room is large enough. Placed along one wall of the room. Often installed in the kitchen, has a bed. The choice is based on dimensions, with standard sizes being chosen for ordinary rooms, but for specific rooms it is often necessary to purchase products according to individual sizes. Their cost is higher, and also special drawings are made for them and all parameters are carefully calculated.

There are many mechanisms that are installed on such furniture, but most often it is produced with the design of a book, click gag, dolphin or accordion.

This furniture is presented in numerous sizes, the optimal height of a piece of furniture, its depth and other parameters are selected. The depth of the models is considered an important factor, the comfort of the seat depends on it. The product can unfold at any time, but it is important that there is enough space to implement the process. A competent choice of design is certainly based not only on the dimensions, but also on the dimensions of the bed obtained after unfolding. The most frequently chosen options are:

  • if a product is chosen for the kitchen, then its parameter can be equal to 130 cm, 150 cm, or a long version of 160 cm is often purchased. Such designs are small and optimal for eating. If a lot of people live in a house or apartment, then it is allowed to purchase products with a parameter of 170 or 200 cm. For a large living room, a size of 3 meters is suitable;
  • another important parameter is the width. 90 cm wide is considered an excellent solution for a direct product, but sofas 70 wide are often bought;
  • in the selection process, the depth of the structure is also taken into account. The sofa depth of 80 cm is most often chosen, as it is considered the most convenient and comfortable for permanent use.

When a direct piece of furniture is selected, it is additionally taken into account for which room it is intended. If it is bought for the kitchen, then it usually certainly has small size, and if for the living room, then the number of people in the family is taken into account. The user independently chooses the optimal transformation mechanism for himself. A convenient option is click clack, as well as accordions and books.

The materials from which the frames and furniture upholstery are made are taken into account. They must be durable, high-quality, resistant to various influences and environmentally friendly.

Forward unfolding

The third type of this furniture is displayed forward. In this case, the person using this design for sleeping is placed perpendicularly. Due to the device, when folded, the parameter is small. The most common model is 120 cm of the indicator, and it can also have a length of 130 cm or 150. This is true when choosing furniture for a small room.

The bed for products that fold forward has a large size. There are 170 cm models, a sofa 180 cm or 190 cm, and a sofa 180 cm or 200 cm in length is also considered to be in demand. The width can be different, so products 90 cm wide or 140 cm wide are popular if they are installed in large rooms. The sofa depth of 80 cm or more is most in demand, as it is comfortable. A forward-folding product can be under 3 meters in size if it is planned to be used by a large number of people.

Daybed sofas

The fourth type of this furniture are unique couches. They are quite unusual and specific in appearance. Most often they are chosen for unusual places left for the installation of this piece of furniture. Two people cannot sleep on the product, it is intended for one user only.

They are laid out along, not across, so it has a minimum sofa with a parameter of 180 cm. It can be equal to 190 or 200 cm. When folded, each model has a unique length. There are products with a length of 130 or 150 cm, 140 cm or 170, 190 or even 200 cm. For large rooms, a sofa with an indicator of 210 cm is selected.

A lot of space is not required in front of the furniture, since its depth does not change during the transformation. The sofa depth of 80 cm is most often chosen, as it is considered comfortable.

Children's and modular

The sizes of children's products depend on whether they will have a transformation mechanism. The forward-folding model will be 1.7 meters long. If it is laid out along, then the length can increase to 2, and sometimes up to 3 meters, depending on the model.

Modular structures consist of several separate parts that are interconnected. The sizes of these elements can be different, depending on the model and its shape. On average, the size of each module often varies from 60 centimeters to 1 meter.

By number of seats

In the process of choosing this furniture, it is important to take into account how many people will constantly use it for its intended purpose. In accordance with this, the number of seats is determined, and the recommendations of specialists are taken into account:

  • if only one person will use the object for sitting or sleeping, then its indicator can be equal to 130 or 140 cm;
  • often the design is used by a married couple as a place to relax and sleep permanently, and in this case the length cannot be less than 170 centimeters, but it is best to choose furniture with a length of 190 and 200 cm, and a sofa of 180 cm or a sofa of 210 cm is also a good choice length;
  • a triple item is often chosen, and it is considered optimal for a large family, and in it the length reaches even 3 meters, but it is important to consider the dimensions of the room where it is planned to be installed. Most often, the length of such products is 2-2.5 meters, the width is from 80 centimeters to 1 meter. For ordinary apartments such models will be too large, but for a studio apartment they will be an excellent option;
  • there are four-seater, five-seater and even seven-seater options, the width and height of which does not differ from conventional models. As for other dimensions, they can be calculated independently, given that the width of one seat varies from 70 to 80 centimeters. Also, the dimensions will largely be influenced by the style in which the product is made. For example, a high-tech model will take less space than a similar baroque version.

If it is impossible to choose the right model on the market, then it is allowed to create a sofa with your own hands, but for this indispensable drawings of this product are correctly developed. Your piece of furniture will fully meet the needs of users, and the amount of materials used is determined in advance based on the existing scheme. In the selection process, it is important to consider which of the mechanisms is available in the selected model. Some users prefer accordions, while others prefer books.

How to take into account the height of a person when choosing

Modern interior items are usually produced in standard sizes, therefore, are intended for people with an average weight and height. But if a person has high growth or vice versa, is low, then standard models are considered inconvenient for him.

Growth is usually taken into account if you plan to use the furniture not only as a place to sit and relax, but also for a full and constant sleep. At the same time, every centimeter is important. For people with small stature, the length of the bed can be even 130 cm, but this is usually true for children. Often, designs with this indicator of 170 centimeters are selected.

If tall people plan to use the design, then a bed length of 190 cm to 200 cm is chosen for them. If the height reaches two meters, then only a sofa of 210 cm of bed length is suitable. For people with more big stature you have to order structures whose length reaches 3 meters.

As a rule, other indicators are less important for any height of a person, so a sofa depth of 80 cm is most often chosen.

The choice must be reasonable and deliberate, and the average for people different height is a length of 190 cm, but an indicator of 200 cm is considered comfortable. There are certain standards according to which the depth of the structure should be 450-600 mm for conventional products, 500 mm for folding ones. The length of the bed should not be less than 1860 mm, as for the width, it should be 700 mm. A width of 650 mm is only allowed for models that are not intended for daily sleep, but are planned to be used as a guest option.

Rules for choosing dimensions

The choice of this furniture is considered quite difficult if you plan to constantly sleep on it. Some important tips to consider:

  • purpose - furniture can be supplemented with a folding mechanism, or it can go without it. The factor will affect its dimensions and should be taken into account when choosing;
  • it is calculated how many people will use the furniture, both in the unfolded and folded form, and the modular sofa is considered the right choice, since it can change if necessary;
  • if people using products as a bed have a significant increase, then the length of the bed is from 190 to 200 cm, and a sofa of 180 cm is often chosen;
  • for very tall people, a sofa of 210 cm is selected;
  • the length of the product when folded depends on the existing size of the room itself, where it is planned to install it, and for big room this figure often reaches 3 meters.
