Mandalotherapy for children and adults. Mandalas as an art therapy method in working with children

The development of emotions in preschoolers remains an urgent problem today. Children very often inadequately express their emotions, cannot correctly assess the emotions of other children, which is a barrier to establishing friendly relationships.

In order to stabilize the emotional state of anxious, impulsive children, to develop their self-regulation skills in our institution, the mandala method is used in working with children.

Mandala - tse symbolic round image, which represents both the world outside of us, which we can see (circle), and the invisible world (center), which is hidden within us. According to Eastern beliefs, a mandala is a drawing in a circle, which has healing properties and is used as a tool for meditation. However, we are not interested in the magical or religious meaning of the mandala, but in its psychological content.

Mandalotherapy is one of the areas of art therapy (art healing). In our opinion, this is a natural and joyful way to improve emotional state, stress relief, expression of feelings, which contributes to the development of creativity, artistic and spiritual self-expression of children.

In psychology, the mandala was first used by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung.

For a psychologist, the mandala is valuable as an art-therapeutic method in corrective, diagnostic and developmental work. Therefore, we want to introduce you to some technologies for using mandalas in activities. practical psychologist preschool institution.

This type activities in our preschool used with children from junior groups in the following directions:

- coloring of mandala coloring pages is offered;

– creating your own mandalas from colored sand, decorative small stones, natural material.

Children during individual and subgroup lessons paint mandalas, ranging from simple patterns ending with more complex ones.

The purpose of this work:

– correction of the emotional sphere of a preschooler, normalization of behavior (coloring of ready-made mandala coloring pages);

– study of the relationship of children in a subgroup (creation of individual mandalas with the subsequent creation of a collective composition);

— diagnosis and correction of a specific problem;

— development of creative abilities;

- development of fine motor skills of the hand.

Rules for the work of a practical psychologist with children when using mandala coloring pages:

1. The child is offered several mandalas to choose from (whatever suits him best).

2. The child independently chooses materials for work and color scheme.

3. At one lesson, the child is offered only one mandala.

4. The use of musical accompaniment is practiced.

5. The teacher does not interfere in the work of the child, without his consent.

6. The psychologist monitors the state of tension / relaxation in the process of work.

7. Evaluative comments about the work are not expressed.

8. After work, the child is invited to give a name to the mandala that he has depicted, a conversation is held about the work, an analysis of his activities (correct leading questions are allowed).

Creating your own mandalas from a variety of materials (colored sand, salt, pebbles, crystals) develops Creative skills, childish fantasy, fine motor skills arms. When working with colored sand, a set of several colors is used, or a sandbox. You can use 1 kg of colored sand and level it over the surface of the sandbox. If desired, children decorate the image with rhinestones, beads. After finishing work, you can invite the children to give a name to their “magic circles”, to talk about the work done. Thus, work with mandalas not only has a corrective effect on the child's personality, but also contributes to the development of speech in preschool children.

This type of activity has a positive effect on children with hyperactivity, reduces the level of anxiety, increases concentration, and promotes the development of creative abilities.

We practice the use of mandalas in methodological work, which helps to improve the emotional state of teachers, change the psychological atmosphere in the team, relieve tension, and group cohesion.

Presentation “Mandala. Mandalotherapy»

Currently, preschool teachers are increasingly meeting in groups of children with increased anxiety, fears, not always adequate behavior, children with difficulties in adaptation, hyperactive children, children from dysfunctional families. Children began to show anger and aggression towards other children more often. All this adversely affects the atmosphere in the children's team. To help children overcome their fears, teach children to control their emotions, their behavior towards others, help children be self-confident, believe in themselves, in their skills, I use the method of coloring and making mandala! Art-therapeutic possibilities of using the mandala method in

psychocorrectional work of a psychologist.

Using the mandala method in the work of a kindergarten psychologist.
Modern system preschool allows you to use different programs and pedagogical technologies. In kindergarten, the child receives the first experience of interaction with other people, tries to find his place among them, learns to live in harmony with himself and others, and receives the first elementary knowledge. Therefore, the task of teachers is to ensure that the child is in comfortable psychological conditions for him. In this regard, children often experience difficulties in communicating with their peers, many of them are hyperactive or, on the contrary, clamped. In working with children, it is necessary to create adequate conditions for upbringing and education, taking into account individual characteristics child. One of the acceptable forms of work with children is the mandala method. Mandalotherapy was pioneered by Carl Gustav Jung. Mandalotherapy is a safe and natural way to change the emotional state, relieve tension, express feelings and develop self-regulation. Mandala (Mandala) - translated from Sanskrit "circle" or "center". Its pattern is symmetrical: usually it is a circle with a pronounced center. According to Eastern beliefs, a mandala is a drawing in a circle, which has healing properties and is used as a tool for meditation. However, we are not interested in the magical or religious meaning of the mandala, but in its psychological content. Mandalotherapy is one of the areas of art therapy (art healing). In our opinion, this is a natural and joyful way to improve the emotional state, relieve tension, express feelings, which contributes to the development of creativity, artistic and spiritual self-expression of children. Mandalas are very useful for both adults and children. After all, the symbolic language of a drawing is more accurate than words, conveys the content of the inner world of a person, is natural and attractive, understandable at any age. They help to completely relax and establish contact with the functions of the right hemisphere of the brain, with the unconscious. Undoubtedly, this type of work is very useful for preschoolers, since in babies the right hemisphere plays a leading role, young children have not yet lost their predominant connection with the right hemisphere of the brain.
Drawing mandalas contributes to the development of figurative memory, a holistic perception of the world, the recognition of the nuances of various sounds, the development of intuition, the emotional-sensual world, and, as a result, the formation of a creative personality. I use the mandala method in both individual and group classes. Introduce the child to individual or group work, immerse in creative process coloring the mandalas helps.
The main objectives of the work when decorating mandalas:
-development of creative abilities; -development of arbitrariness of behavior; - development of imagination; - removal of internal stress, relaxation; -development of fine motor skills of hands. In the process of perceiving images, a child develops a feeling of empathy, to which he does not and cannot rise in his everyday life. After mandala therapy, the child returns to the zone of his emotions, but already enriched to some extent. This feature of mandala therapy enables the child to spiritually fill in what he lacks in his life inevitably limited by space and time, to compensate for the satisfaction of many needs through imagination. By creating a mandala, the child also creates his own personal symbols, reflecting what he is at the present time. For example, if a child draws a circle - this is balance and order, a triangle - if the top is directed upwards, this means masculinity, movement, striving for improvement, if downwards - destruction. The flower is a symbol of beauty and life. Simply looking at the mandala also brings certain benefits. The chosen colors in the mandala are a reflection of the internal state of the child. Children in the course of individual and subgroup lessons paint mandalas, ranging from simple patterns to more complex ones. Thus, work with mandalas not only has a corrective effect on the child's personality, but also contributes to the development of speech in preschool children.
At first, when the baby is not yet familiar with the technique of relaxation and psychological attitude, it is necessary to introduce him to the topic. This can be done with the help of a beautiful figurative story: “We are going with you on a magical journey. Sit comfortably on the floor (sofa), close your eyes and imagine that you are in an unusual, magical place. This place is only yours and only you decide how it will be. You are the owner of this place and you are the most important person here. Now take two deep breaths and exhale, relax even more and lie down for a bit. Without opening your eyes, look around. Everything that you see in front of you, try to remember. Take a close look at what colors or patterns you have. When you are ready, slowly open your eyes, and we will try to draw everything that we saw in the circle that we prepared in advance. Time for mood and image formation is individual, someone needs more, someone less. Do not rush the child, when he feels that he is ready to start work, he will get up on his own. The creative work must have the signature of the author, so when the baby finishes the work, in the lower right corner of the sheet I write the author's last name and first name, age and put the date. Together with the child, you can come up with the name of the mandala and sign the drawing. The next stage of work is artistic description mandalas. The opinion of the child is important here, so I ask him what he depicted. It will be interesting to compose a story, a fairy tale, a story about your mandala. Remember that this is not a simple description of what has been done, this is a lot of developmental work. When describing verbally, he learns to accurately convey his thoughts, translate visual and sensory images into verbal, descriptive ones, and this, in turn, contributes to the development of communication between the right and left hemispheres of the brain. While the child is talking, I write down his story on a separate sheet of paper and then attach it to the mandala. There is an opportunity to plan further psycho-correctional work. It does not matter at all whether the child can draw, sculpt, model, work with a pencil, paints, plasticine, clay. After all, the goal will not be the creation of a masterpiece, but that inner work that will allow the soul to hatch out of restrictions, criticism, prohibitions, scars, to see itself and the world anew.

An example of a three-dimensional mandala is the largest Buddhist monument on Earth - Borobudur, on the island of Java in Indonesia, the material for which was stone. Or the crop circles that are found all over the world can also be called three-dimensional mandalas.

Mandalas in ancient cultures symbolized the model of the Universe, in the center of which is God, or as a microcosm, in the center of which is a person. Perhaps sometimes it was a symbol of a person, in the center, whose soul. The mandala looks like a disk, which in the culture of the Slavs symbolized the Sun, thanks to which all life exists on Earth. The sun - as a symbol of time, as a symbol of fire, a symbol of the center of all things. Our Pavlovo Posad shawl can also be a mandala; its pattern has symmetry and a center. Previously, every “squiggle”, every flower had a meaning. It could be a talisman against everything bad, or a “magnet” for something good.

Mandalas are not sources of energy, they only conduct it, attract it from a single energy-information space; their energy instantly spreads to any distance, penetrating all obstacles; human interaction with them occurs continuously, and the intensity of this exchange is constantly increasing; you can use them at any time of the day; you can put them, put them the way you want - the action will not weaken from this; up to 3-4 images can be used simultaneously; they should not be transferred to another person, they cannot be destroyed - it is better to bury them in the ground when they become dilapidated; don't want to wrap them plastic wrap, cellophane or anything else: they must interact with the environment; you can work with them daily for 15-30 minutes, taking a break for every seventh day. After 5-6 months, classes can be carried out after 1-2 days, a year later, make them even less frequent and engage consciously only when there is an internal need for this.

1. Contemplation of mandalas To use the mandala, you need to download and print in real color. Working with a mandala has its own special rhythm, it is necessary to examine it slowly, moving your eyes from the edges to the center in a clockwise direction. When you reach the center, stop your gaze, but do not focus it. Listen to your feelings, do not try to evaluate or analyze them, just focus on them to enhance the effect to the maximum, and continue to observe your inner world, as if plunging deeper into it. The concentration time is determined individually and depends on the training (from 5 minutes to an hour or more). You can stop as soon as you feel tired, and no further changes in your condition occur. Continue to work with the mandala daily until you get the result.

3. Drawing and creating your own mandalas For drawing, white circles are distributed, the necessary materials are selected (paints, pencils, crayons, felt-tip pens). You can use sets of colored sand, colored cereals, pasta, salt, pebbles, crystals. If desired, children decorate the image with rhinestones, beads. After finishing work, you can invite the children to give a name to their “magic circles”, to talk about the work done. Thus, work with mandalas not only has a corrective effect on the child's personality, but also contributes to the development of speech in preschool children. This type of activity has a positive effect on children with hyperactivity, reduces the level of anxiety, increases concentration, promotes the development of creative abilities, develops children's imagination, fine motor skills.

Creating your own mandala by date of birth Probably, it will be interesting for many to calculate and color the Mandala of the date of their birthday. When manually calculating the mandala, you put your energy into it. As in the signature - your energy trace remains in it. You interact with colors and numbers for a sufficient amount of time and at the same time certain processes are activated. The effect of the mandala depends to a large extent on the strength of concentration on it. Each number has its own color. Neither the number nor the color contains emotions, they are what they are and are absolutely pure in nature and represent pure energy. The mandala of your birthday is the restoration of the Divine order.

Description of the slide:

Network of Light Mandalas - Restoration of the Divine Order The "Networks of Light" around the Earth are plans of ethereal structures around our planet. They exist on levels. various measurements and appear in different geometric shapes. We have been given through Ursula Irgang - a scientist and amazing healer from Austria - radiation or resonance patterns to activate the Spiritual code in our DNA and restore the Divine plan on Earth. Networks of Light are the language of Light, so they carry and transmit information at the same time. They are the bridge between the etheric plane of the Higher dimensions and the etheric body of the third dimension. They create a stream of spirals that carry the light code, which are fixed (anchored) in the human body, which ensures the flow of information into the human consciousness. The basis of the Network of Light Mandalas is the first nine digits of Creation, which are the basis for all other numbers. Each number has a corresponding letter and color. Using various methods calculations, which are always based on the Fibonacci series, bring these mandalas into existence. 9 numbers and 9 colors of different frequencies open the matrix and are a holistic cosmogram. They contain the biophysical wavelengths of all 10 planets. This can be expressed as follows: Light Mandala Networks visually manifest through various thought forms that present themselves as pure energy. Neither the number nor the color contains emotions, they are what they are and are absolutely pure in nature. High vibrations respond to the etheric field of the aura and activate the encoded DNA strands. These spirals contain the information of the Source Matrix. In cases where there are blocks arising from negative thought forms and emotions that cannot be removed, the Light Mandala Network can bring them back to the level of consciousness and remove them.

Description of the slide:

In the same way, illnesses that have not yet manifested themselves on the physical level, but information about them already exists in the etheric body, can be compensated. And it will have a positive effect on all systems of the human body. Therefore, the Light Mandala Network supports the healing process of the body, soul and mind. All Light Mandalas integrate the Yin and Yang polarities and create balance. They remove blocks and negative information stored in subtle bodies. What happens to the energies? When you start looking at mandalas or just being around, the brain begins to integrate the Light. This brings the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere into balance. This allows you to adequately perceive the information. The pure light of the mandalas activates the subtle fields in the higher dimensions and they begin to vibrate. Light-encoded chromosomes become mobile and transmit information to consciousness, provided that you are open to these energies and are in a state of love. These energies restore "order" by removing blocks from the body. The Mandala Light Network fills the entire system of our body and thus has a cleansing and harmonizing effect on the body, soul and mind. Ursula's method has been successfully used in hospitals in Austria and Germany for several years now. Her research is sponsored by the famous Swarovski company. Ursula Irgang experimentally obtained mandalas for the treatment of many diseases, such as psoriasis, stage II diabetes, urolithiasis, migraine, improvement of the cardiovascular systems of the body, restoration of vision, and much more. For healing, a certain algorithm is used and computer program, which calculates the mandalas of Light. Any mandala (not only personal), since it is a portal that transmits Light and Love, has a beneficial effect both on the room in which it is located and on the people who are in its healing vibrational field. Mandala is a reminder to a person of his Divinity. Healing with Mandalas of Light

Mandala is once a mysterious word, beckoning into the depths of age-old wisdom. Today, mandalas and their creation are a big trend, a philosophy, a hobby... There is something for everyone. One thing is certain - this is the place to be and mandalotherapy, as one of them, works and helps, heals and inspires.

Today, mandalas are drawn, painted, embroidered, weaved, laid out, knitted, glued, sculpted...

To talk on this most interesting topic, I invited a specialist - a psychologist and fairy tale therapist - Anya Kutyavina. She leads us into the unique world of creating mandalas for children and adults.

Mandalotherapy for children and adults

What is mandalotherapy and how is it useful? What exercises can be done at home? What are the features of working with children and adults? About this - in our article.

According to sources, mandalas appeared in India, and this happened a very long time ago - several thousand years ago. They were actively used as a sacred tool for meditation in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. In psychotherapy, mandalas began to be used by Carl Gustav Jung as a method of studying the unconscious. Nowadays, mandalas also do not lose their relevance and are often used in work with adults and kids. What is the secret of the mandala?

The secret meaning of the mandala

Translated from Sanskrit, the word "mandala" is translated as "disk, circle." The circle is closed, it has neither beginning nor end. And this circle symbolizes the image of a single universe.

There are many types of mandalas in the world. They can be created different ways, for example, coloring ready-made pictures, drawing with paints or pencils on paper, sculpting from plasticine, creating bulk mandalas from flowers, natural materials, colored sand, weave mandalas from threads, etc.

In psychology, the mandala personifies a symbolic image of the inner world, thoughts, feelings of a person. All of this is in the safe form of a circle. K.G. Jung said that the mandala is a universal mental image that symbolizes the self - the deep essence of the human soul.

In fact, the mandala is a bridge between the inner and outer worlds of a person, between his consciousness and subconscious. When we create a mandala, we put deep meaning into it. We depict our soul and can look from the outside at the processes taking place in it. To see the most subtle experiences that are difficult, and in some cases impossible to express in other ways. And this is the path to finding integrity. It is not surprising that mandalas have gained popularity in the work of psychologists, psychotherapists, art therapists around the world.

Mandalotherapy is a large area of art therapy. And she really works wonders. ?

What do colors mean in mandalotherapy?

For informational purposes, I offer you general interpretations of colors in mandalotherapy. But be careful with direct transcripts! We are all different, and the same color for one can mean positive, and for another - negative. And in general, in recent times art therapists come to the conclusion that universal characteristics colors don't work very well. The most important are the feelings, sensations of the client associated with a particular color. But sometimes it is useful to look deeper, passing through the general formula.

Mandala meaning. What do the different colors mean?

- Red. It is generally accepted that this color symbolizes strength, energy, passion. Red is fire, the beating of the human heart. A lot of red in the image of the mandala can indicate a person's high life potential, the presence of bright aspirations, goals and ways to achieve them. The complete absence of red can tell us about a person's physical or emotional fatigue, his passivity, lack of "fire", or even depression.

- Green. The color of life. In nature, living things are most often represented precisely in green- grass, trees, bushes. When a person actively uses green tones in his creative work, it can be assumed that he is prone to naturalness, spontaneity, honesty. If there is a lot of green in the picture, this often speaks of the harmony of the feminine and masculine in a person, his mental balance.

- Yellow. This color tells us about optimism, joy of life, good spirits. Often we can see that yellow like to draw active and non-standard, creative people with artistic talents.

- Blue. This color symbolizes calm, seriousness. The presence of blue in the mandala can speak of strong intuition, the wisdom of a person, his deep understanding of the situation.

- Orange. Pure energy flow. If the mandala contains Orange color, most likely, a person realizes himself, asserts himself, moves towards the goal.

- Brown. Traditionally, we associate this color with the earth. abundance Brown in the mandala may indicate a person’s lack of a sense of security, his desire to stand on reliable ground, to ground himself.

- Black. In fact, it is the absence of color. Black indicates emptiness, oblivion. The abundance of black in the mandala can tell us about the emotional burnout of the artist, his emptiness or even depression.

How does mandalotherapy work?

There are several main uses for mandalas in psychotherapy. So, mandalotherapy can be:

  • active - the client is invited to create a mandala on their own;
  • mixed type - the client chooses from the ready-made coloring mandalas offered to him;
  • passive - a ready-made mandala is offered to a person, and he works with it.

The process of creating a mandala in psychotherapy

While working with a psychologist, the client is not limited to rigid principles and rules. It is important that the creation of the mandala occurs easily, unplanned, spontaneously, in the process of releasing experiences.

What is so special about a mandala? It would seem that you just draw a circle, there are some lines and images in it. But everything is much more interesting than it seems at first glance. A person is most often unable to feel and realize all the multidimensionality and depth of work with this symbol. And the mandala, like a kind of energy matrix, receives information directly from the subconscious, connecting it to an energy source. This is the uniqueness of mandalotherapy, its uniqueness.

Materials for creating a mandala

Most often in modern psychotherapy, to create a mandala, the client will be offered the following materials: A4 or A3 paper, brushes, paints, pencils, crayons, felt-tip pens.

Where is mandalotherapy applicable?

As for the scope of mandalotherapy, it actively helps in:

  • Working with depression;
  • Working with impaired self-esteem;
  • Correction of internal imbalance;
  • Working out fears;
  • The return of the colors of life, the fight against pessimism;
  • Correction of aggression, irritability.

Mandalotherapy works both in individual counseling and in parent-child relationships, in family therapy.

Highly important points: The plot of the mandala must be chosen by the client. And you can draw him as much as you want, until you feel “enough”. At the same time, the specialist fixes his condition, observes non-verbal reactions - gestures, facial expressions, breathing. The psychologist never evaluates the work of the client and does not interfere in the process. After all the main task of this work - so that a person finds contact with his inner "I", gets to know his real self, sees the answers to questions. And all this is possible only in the absence of strict control and a directive approach on the part of a specialist.

Mandalotherapy in work with children

How can mandalotherapy be useful for children? The answer is simple. Often children cannot adequately express their emotions, as well as correctly assess the emotions of others, including other children. All this makes it difficult to build warm, friendly relationships. Using a mandala can help impulsive, anxious children stabilize their emotional background, develop self-regulation skills, relieve tension, express emotions and feelings. In addition, the “side effect” of using mandalas in working with children is the development of creativity, artistic and spiritual self-expression of children.

Mandalotherapy is often used in kindergartens, starting with younger groups. Children are offered to color ready-made coloring mandalas, as well as create their own mandalas from pebbles, chestnuts, acorns, colored sand, and other natural materials.

The process of creating mandalas helps to develop imagination, creativity, fine motor skills of hands. The creation of sand mandalas has a good effect on hyperactive children, improves concentration, reduces general level anxiety.

The main conditions for the use of mandalas in working with children:

  • Show the child at the very beginning the entire set of mandalas so that he himself can choose the one he likes;
  • You can turn on background music;
  • Do not overload the psyche - in one lesson, offer the child work with only one mandala;
  • Tools for work than to draw or lay out a mandala, the child must choose for himself;
  • After creating the mandala, it is necessary to carefully ask the child about his experiences and feelings.

To create a real mandala, it is important to tune in to work, find peace of mind, and “immerse yourself” in your inner experiences. The best way to do this is to use relaxation techniques. Tell your child a beautiful story, for example:

“Now we will go on a fabulous journey. Sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes, take a deep breath. Now imagine that you are in a magical land. This yours favorite place you are the most important person here. Again, take a deep breath, exhale, relax even more.

Keeping your eyes closed, look around. Try to remember what you see. Take a close look at the pictures, the colors that surround you.

Once you're ready, slowly open your eyes. Let's try to draw everything you saw in this circle."

It is difficult to say how much time is needed for meditation and the creation of the mandala itself. Someone needs more, someone less. Don't rush your child. He will show himself that he is ready. Then it’s good to come up with a name for the drawing and sign it.

After finishing the creative work, it is necessary to ask the child what he drew. You can ask him to come up with a story or a fairy tale about the mandala. Such work is very useful for developing interhemispheric connections, improving the ability to express one's thoughts, transforming sensory images into verbal ones.

You can invite the child to draw a family, a kindergarten, a school, a mother, etc. in a circle.

Mandalotherapy in work with adults

You can do mandalotherapy not only in the office of a psychologist, but also at home. Most affordable option- buy ready-made mandala drawings in the store, or download pictures for coloring on the Internet. But it is best to draw a mandala from scratch.

We offer you a simple exercise that you can do at home. To do this, take a plate and circle it on an A4 sheet. Fill in the circle. In the process of drawing, focus on internal sensations. Let your hand guide you to the answers. Then fill in the rest of the space with shapes, lines, images. In choosing colors, rely on intuition.

Then come up with a name for the mandala, write it down. Consider the mandala. What associations do you have? Write an essay about your mandala.
Having finished your creative work, try to decipher the mandala.

How to decipher the mandala

You can use the following conditional reference points:

  • If there is a clearly defined center in the work, this may indicate the maturity of a person;
  • An asymmetrical pattern may indicate internal stress;
  • According to the zones of the drawing: from top to bottom - spiritual-social-physical; from left to right - past-present-future;
  • If there is a lot of white space left in the drawing, this may indicate caution, fear of being active, as well as a lack of information;
  • The lack of links in the essay may indicate internal contradictions.

But do not rush to become attached to ready-made interpretations. Let your soul open up and tell you the important things. Accept them with love and gratitude. Think about what can be improved in the current situation. What actions need to be taken?

By itself, awareness, without active action, alas, will not change life. So after you see a picture of the future, live it mentally, immediately proceed to implement your plan. Plan specific steps and get started today. You will certainly succeed. After all, the road will be mastered by the walking one, right? And creativity will always help along the way. Prompt, direct, relax and surprise.

Create! And may your life be full of bright colors and delicious images!

Anna Kutyavina,

Indeed, there is a special charm in mandalas. And you can meet them everywhere... And in the coils of a rose, and in the waves of the sea, in snowflakes, and also in lace napkins and in kaleidoscope patterns...
