There are universities that have maintained their popularity for decades. Their graduates never experience difficulties in finding a job in their specialty. And school graduates prepare several years in advance to enroll there. One of such educational institutions is Gomel State Medical University - Gomel State Medical University. In a short period of time, this university managed to become one of the best. Now studying here is the main dream for many applicants.

History of the university

Gomel Medical University is relatively young. It was created in 1990. And the reason for its creation is connected with what shocked the USSR. claimed a large number of lives, but there were those who did not die from the dose of radiation they received, but began to experience health difficulties.

In order to provide assistance to all the victims, it was necessary to find as many doctors as possible. There weren't enough of them. Then it was decided to open a medical university in Gomel.

In 2003, this educational institution turned into a university. Now it is considered one of the best not only in the city, but also in the country. The base available at the Gomel Medical University allows students to extract the maximum possible amount of knowledge in order to become a successful doctor.

University faculties

Applicants can apply to one of two faculties. But this does not mean that the choice at the university is very small. Each student will need to choose the direction in which he wants to develop. Subordination will provide many opportunities to gain the knowledge necessary for work.

The most popular is the medical faculty. Graduates of schools and colleges from all over the country apply for it. The subordination of this faculty is very rich.

The Faculty of Medical Diagnostics has become slightly less popular. But this does not mean that he is inferior to his brother in quality of education and prestige.

If anyone is interested in whether Gomel Medical University has a pharmaceutical faculty, then it is worth saying that there is no such thing here.

Faculty of Medicine

Graduates who received their education here are employed not only in hospitals, but also in ministries. They are successful, in demand and never face difficulties when hiring.

Currently, more than 2,000 students study here. Subordination offers a large number of areas, so everyone can choose what is interesting.

Surgery is very popular. Those who will perform operations on children, those who will treat oncology, those who will perform heart surgery, as well as many other specialists who will help patients in the surgical department study here.

Those who love children and want to help them will be happy if they choose pediatrics. This is in demand and very interesting. There are also several different directions here.

You can also study obstetrics and gynecology. Such specialists will help not only babies, but also their mothers.

Those who choose anesthesiology and resuscitation will also not be left without work.

The therapeutic field is also very popular, because future psychiatrists, gastroenterologists, neurologists, internal medicine specialists, hematologists, allergists and many others receive education here.

Faculty of Medicine and Diagnostics

It is no coincidence that Gomel Medical University attracts the attention of such a large number of applicants. The medical diagnostic faculty that exists here is the only one of its kind not only in the country, but also in the entire former Soviet Union. That’s why even guys from other countries enroll in this faculty.

There are three specializations of this faculty. The first of these is clinical laboratory diagnostics. The second is functional diagnostics. The third is radiation diagnostics. Graduates will be awarded the qualification "doctor" (clinical laboratory and radiologist).

Student life

Everyone knows that university is not only lectures, seminars and exams. It is also a unique atmosphere of youth and energy. Every student wants to change the world, make it better. And Gomel Medical University provides all the opportunities for this.

All students, from freshman to graduate, will be able to take part in the extracurricular life of their favorite university. A variety of activities gives all students the opportunity to show themselves in an unusual way and reveal their talents. Not only those who already have training received during their school years will be able to study in sections, clubs and studios, but also those who have an irresistible desire to learn something other than their main profession,

Of course, first of all, the dance studio is famous. Here male and female students can learn to move beautifully, acquire proud posture and learn to love their body. Those who are especially good at dancing will be able to perform at a festival at their university, even at citywide competitions.

Those who want to show off their vocal abilities will also not be left out. They will be able to sign up for a studio and show everything they can do. Here they will give several lessons on how to sing beautifully and loudly, and how to charm the audience with your voice. Students studying in this studio will also be able to show their talents at university and city concerts.

KVN is very popular among students. This place is not only for the cheerful and resourceful, but also for those who feel they have acting abilities and a desire to perform on stage. Artistic and cheerful guys will not only be able to show themselves as ordinary team members, but also become captains. And then help your team become the best in the country.

Dormitory

Everyone knows that universities are located in big cities, where there are the most school graduates. But what should graduates of rural schools do? Of course, you can't give up on your dreams. We need to go to the city.

In order to rent an apartment in a big city, you need to spend a considerable amount of money every month, which a poor student may not have. A hostel may be considered a more acceptable option. Gomel State Medical University offers rooms to its students. In order to take a place in the dormitory, you need to submit an application after admission. And then you won’t have to worry about housing during your studies.

First of all, preferential categories of students will receive a place in the dormitory, then the rest will be given in order. Therefore, you should hurry with submitting your application.

Passing scores

Everyone knows that there is always a lot of competition in medical universities. Especially in cases where the institution is as famous and prestigious as Gomel Medical University. That is why you will need to prepare for admission in advance. Future students will have to learn a lot of material in order to score decent scores and enter the desired department.

It is worth noting that graduates of urban schools and applicants arriving from villages have different admission conditions. For the latter, the passing score is lower.

In order to enter the faculty, city students will need to score at least 260 points. But applicants who come to the city will need at least 219 for admission.

Slightly lower for graduates of city schools in medical diagnostic work. In order to enter, you need to score at least 252 in total. But for villagers, the passing score will be higher here. They need to score from 233.

It is also worth remembering what a passing grade is. This is the amount that the student who was last on the list of those enrolled in free places had. The passing scores change every year. Gomel Medical University attracts a wide variety of applicants. Therefore, next year the bar may rise or fall.

Gomel State Medical University began its existence on November 1, 1990. The creation of the university was due to the urgent need for medical personnel in the Gomel and Mogilev regions affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, as well as the need to conduct scientific research to study the medical consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and find ways to overcome them.
In July 2003, the institute received a new status and was renamed the educational institution “Gomel State Medical University”.
During the existence of the university, a highly professional team has been created that is capable of training medical personnel at the proper level, conducting scientific research, and providing medical and advisory assistance to the population.
Medical University today is:
More than 300 highly qualified professors, associate professors, assistants;
35 departments, central research laboratory;
18 large clinics equipped with modern equipment, on the basis of which training is carried out;
3423 (including about 385 foreign) students studying at the university faculty;
a library that has access to the INTERNET, a rich book collection, three reading rooms with the possibility of full preparation for the educational process;
modern comfortable dormitories.
The clinical base of the university is one of the best in the Republic of Belarus, where the most modern medical technologies are used for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases.
Over the years of its existence, the university has trained 3,356 specialists in 54 medical specialties. Graduates work in clinics in various cities of the Republic of Belarus, CIS countries, Western Europe, and Asia.
The university has created the necessary conditions for the education of foreign students.
The educational process, which meets international standards, provides a combination of deep theoretical knowledge with fundamental practical training. Specialization helps improve the quality of training and allows teachers to concentrate their efforts on the specific features of the course of diseases, diagnosis, and treatment of patients. At the same time, the climatic, ethnic, economic and other factors affecting human diseases inherent in the region are taken into account.
Training at the university faculties is conducted in 54 medical specialties. Scientific work is carried out at 35 departments and 5 specialized research laboratories. University scientists take part in carrying out research on government programs and social orders in the field of fundamental research.
Upon graduation from the university, graduates are awarded the qualification of a doctor and the title of Doctor of Medicine.
Education can be continued in any medical specialty in clinical residency, graduate school, and internships.
The Department of Postgraduate Education carries out training of scientific and pedagogical personnel.
The successes of medicine in the 21st century are due not only to the achievements of fundamental and applied sciences, biology, and the latest technical projects, but also to a large extent to people who implement the results of theoretical medical developments into practical medicine. Therefore, training a competent modern doctor with deep scientific knowledge and mastery of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies is one of the main tasks of a higher medical school. Gomel State Medical University fully corresponds to the status of a modern higher educational institution.
