At what temperature can icopal be used. Installation of a soft roof ikopal. Roof base device

Installation work is carried out in stages, in several steps, each of which is fundamentally important for the quality of the entire roofing system.

Preparatory work

No matter how reliable the soft roof coating is, the roof can “go” or leak if the fastening is done without proper preparation. Therefore, preliminary work before laying the roof is very important and should be carried out by professionals in several stages.

Creating a truss system

The rafters bear the main load from flexible tiles, so you need to make the right calculation, taking into account the weight of the roofing cake, wind and snow exposure.

Advice. Securely fasten the rafter legs, treat the wooden elements with special protective agents to increase the reliability of the structure.

Vapor barrier device

After installing the rafters, it is necessary to lay a vapor barrier film that will protect the roofing cake and insulation from condensation. The film is overlapped, and the resulting seams are glued with adhesive tape.

Warming

In order for the thermal insulation to hold securely, a bar must be nailed between the rafter legs, which will hold the insulation plates. Thermal calculation will help to choose the correct thickness of the insulation. Heat-insulating boards are laid apart, covered with a wind and moisture protective film, which is fastened with a counter beam.

Advice. The counter beam must be nailed parallel to the rafters to create a free ventilation channel to remove excess moisture from the under-roof space.

Installation of bituminous tiles should be carried out only on a flat solid base, which is preferably used as a crate and solid flooring made of moisture-resistant plywood or OSB. Boards are fixed with special galvanized nails.

After laying the base, preparation for the installation of a soft roof is completed - you can proceed to the main work.

Bituminous roof installation: materials used

When installing bituminous shingles, we recommend using high-quality materials of the IKOPAL brand, which are produced in accordance with European standards and are certified according to Russian standards. To install a soft roof, you will need the following materials.

Roof covering includes:

  • SBS-modified with fiberglass backing with colored slate topping;
  • a ridge-eaves strip of a similar composition for arranging cornices, ridges, ribs;
  • valley carpet - a rolled protective material that is used to reinforce soft welded roofing in valleys and other vulnerable places;
  • underlayment carpet - rolled waterproofing, the installation of which is an obligatory stage in the installation of the roof.

Advice. The lining carpet is laid over the entire surface of the roof from the bottom up parallel to the cornice overhang. Avoid wrinkling!

Additional components/materials

  • Metal junction strips, gable strips, droppers are needed to remove moisture from the edges of the roof, giving it a complete appearance.
  • Fastening bituminous tiles is impossible without special galvanized nails with a cap size of 8 mm.
  • Mastic and adhesive-sealant "IKOPAL" are used for sealing junctions, overlaps, other knots and seams.
  • Elements such as deflectors, under-roof fans or pipe flanges provide ventilation systems to the roof.
  • The IKOPAL gutter system, which includes gutters, brackets, funnels, elbows, fasteners, allows you to effectively drain outside water.

vapor barrier

The instruction for the installation of the roof indicates the need to create a reliable vapor barrier layer. As a vapor barrier, it is worth using a durable four-layer reinforced ICOPAL Polycraft membrane, which not only protects against condensate, but also effectively reflects heat, reducing energy costs.

Advice. Lay the vapor barrier with an overlap of 100-150 mm and seal with double-sided tape.

thermal insulation

The installation of bituminous tiles involves the use of such heat-insulating material as non-combustible mineral wool with a density of 30 kg / m3.

Windproof membranes

ICOPAL Monarperm hydro-windproof membranes help to protect the insulation from wind and water, which are laid on top of the thermal insulation without a ventilated gap.

Do not try to save money on bituminous roofing materials, as this will lead to a deterioration in quality and a reduction in the life of the roofing without repair.

Laying roofing material: installation instructions

The preparatory measures have been taken, the base for the roof is ready - which means that you can proceed directly to the installation of flexible tiles.

1. We mount the lining carpet

First, we lay a special waterproof layer on a ready-made even base - the lining carpet "IKOPAL" K-EL or "Felix". We unfold it from the bottom up parallel to the cornice overhang, fix it to the base along the upper edge every 40 cm, along the bottom - every 10 cm. We seal the overlaps with mastic.

2. We mount the strips

On the lining carpet with roofing nails we nail the eaves and end strips along the zigzag markings. The overlap is 3-5 cm, the step between the nails is 10 cm.

3. We mount the cornice strip

We remove the protective film from the ridge-cornice strip, step back from the bend of the cornice strip 10-20 mm, fix the strip butt-to-butt. In places of perforations and along the edges we nail.

4. We mount the valley carpet

Carpet to protect the valley is mounted in two layers: the top one matches the color of the main coating, and an additional layer of lining carpet is used as the bottom one. It is fastened with nails in 20 cm increments. The valley carpet is laid in the direction of the axis of the valley with the edges fixed every 10 cm.

Advice. In order not to damage the valley carpet when cutting off the flexible tile, a plywood sheet should be placed under it.

5. We mount ordinary shingles

In order to avoid visual defects during the installation of a soft roof, it is recommended to mix the shingles from four or six packs before laying to balance the shade. After that, you can proceed directly to covering the roof with shingles.

Installation of the roof starts from the middle of the cornice overhang and moves towards the ends. To lay the first row, we retreat 1 cm from the lower edge of the cornice shingles and fasten the lower edge of ordinary petals on this line, having previously removed the lower protective film from the shingles. Fastening is carried out with four or six (with a large slope) nails per shingle.

Advice. When using rectangular shingles, the number of nails should be increased to 5 on flat roofs and 7 on pitched roofs greater than 45 degrees.

With further installation of ordinary tiles, we make sure that the petals of each subsequent row coincide with the cutouts of the previous one. In the area of \u200b\u200bthe ends, we cut the shingles along the edge, glue them to the end plank with mastic, and seal the seams with the appropriate adhesive.

Installation of tiles in hard-to-reach places

Particular attention and control is required for the installation of a soft roof in areas adjacent to a wall or chimney, in the area of openings for laying pipes, communications, and on a roof ridge. Failure to follow the laying technology in these places can damage the tightness and appearance of the coating.

The main rule when installing installation passages or installing a soft roof on lifting strips when installing chimneys is to fix the shingles with bituminous mastic and be sure to seal the seams with IKOPAL glue-sealant.

For the installation of ridge tiles, tiles of the ICOPAL Combi ridge and eaves strip 25 by 33 cm in size are used. The latter is laid parallel to the ridge, bending over the slope, then fixed with two nails on each side.

The overlap when laying ridge tiles should be 5-10 cm and cover the fasteners of each previous element. The final tile is fixed with mastic.

Advice. Dividing the IKOPAL ridge-cornice strip into separate tiles is easy: just break it into three parts in places with perforation.

Summary

Step-by-step installation instructions for flexible tiles will allow you to create a reliable, durable, beautiful roofing that will protect the building from leaks and atmospheric influences for a long time.

Proper laying technology, together with the use of quality materials from the manufacturer ICOPAL, will ensure long-term preservation of the operational and aesthetic characteristics of the roof.

Designed for use on pitched roofs with a slope of 12 degrees. Bituminous shingles and their accessories should be stored indoors, stacking no more than 12 packages one on top of the other. In hot weather, bituminous products must be stored in the shade and brought to the installation site as needed. This will ensure easy separation of the film from the adhesive surface of the tiles. Bitumen shingles Ikopal is the best option for self-laying.

Weather conditions for installation and the base under the roof

The base for shingles must be solid, rigid and even. As a material for the construction of the base, a tongue-and-groove board, moisture-resistant plywood or oriented strand board (OSB) can be used. Roofing work is recommended to be carried out at an air temperature of at least +5 degrees Celsius. However, tiles can be laid at temperatures below the recommended +5 degrees (up to -15 degrees inclusive), but the following conditions must be observed:

  • Perform installation only in the absence of precipitation
  • The base for tiles and underlayment must be dry and free of snow and ice.
  • The underlayment carpet must be laid over all areas of the slopes.
  • Butum tiles before installation must be stored in a heated room for at least two days and delivered to the installation site as needed
  • The self-adhesive layer on the back of the shingles must be heated with a building dryer
  • Mastic and glue must be heated in a steam bath

Important: OSB boards or plywood should be laid with spaced seams. Leaving gaps of 1-2 mm between the plates.

Experienced roofers use the following technique: roofing nails are inserted between the sheet already fixed on the roof and the new one. As soon as the new OSB sheet is nailed, the nails are removed. This method is simple and allows you to get the same gaps of the desired size.

When laying roofing from bituminous tiles, you will need:

  1. Underlayment carpet manufactured by K-EL or Felix
  2. End carpet Pinta Ultra
  3. Ridge-cornice strip Combi in color and texture matching with the tiles
  4. Cornice and end planks
  5. Sealant and mastic
  6. Nails, roofing knife and hammer

In each package of tiles there is a brief instruction for the installation of roofing.

Underlayment installation

Installation begins with laying K-El or Felix underlayment over the entire surface of the slope. The lining carpet is designed to provide an additional waterproofing layer and increase the service life of the roof. The lining carpet smooths out the unevenness of the roof base, and also serves as a temporary protection in the event of a break in construction work. The material is laid from the bottom up parallel to the eaves of the roof with an overlap of 10 cm in the longitudinal direction and 15 cm in the transverse direction. The top edge is attached to the base with roofing nails at 40 cm intervals, the bottom edge at 10 cm intervals.

The overlaps are sealed with Icopal mastic. If the roof structure has a valley, then an additional layer of lining carpet is laid in it. To do this, lining carpets suitable for the valley are cut at the junction in the direction along the valley. Then an additional underlayment is laid along the axis of the valley and fastened to the base with roofing nails at intervals of 20 cm.

Installation of metal eaves and end strips

Installation of the valley carpet

For the waterproofing of the valley, the Icopal Pinta Ultra valley carpet is used, matching the color of the shingles. It is laid along the axis of the valley. The edges of the roll are attached to the roof with nails at intervals of 10 cm.

Installation of the cornice strip

Ikopal Combi self-adhesive ridge-cornice strip is laid along the cornice overhang, having previously removed the protective film from the bottom of the strip. The strip is laid butt-to-butt with an indent of 1-2 cm from the bend of the cornice strip. The cornice strip is nailed along the edges and near the perforation places, followed by overlapping of the joints and fastening points of ordinary tiles.

Installation of ordinary tiles

Important: In order to avoid possible differences in color shades, tiles are used mixed from 4-6 packs.

Laying ordinary tiles start from the center of the cornice overhang in the direction of the ends. The first row of tiles is mounted in such a way that the lower edges of the petals are located 1 cm above the lower edge of the cornice tiles.

Before installing bituminous shingles, it is necessary to remove the protective film from the underside of the shingles. The petals of the first row should cover the joints and attachment points of the cornice tiles. Each shingle is fastened with 4 roofing nails 3 cm above the cutouts and along the edges. 4 nails per shingle. For slopes greater than 45 degrees, use 6 nails per shingle. Two additional nails are at the top corners of the shingle. At the ends, the tiles are cut with a roofing knife along the edge and glued to the end plank with Icopal bituminous mastic. The seams are sealed with Icopal glue-sealant. Subsequent rows of tiles are sealed in such a way that the ends of the petals are on the same level with the cutouts of the tiles of the previous row. In order to prevent the adhesive layer on the reverse side of ordinary shingles from sticking prematurely to the surface of the valley carpet, the film on the loose parts of the shingles is not removed before trimming. In the valley, the tiles are cut in such a way that a strip of the valley carpet 15-20 cm wide remains open along the valley axis. When cutting the tiles, in order to avoid damage to the valley carpet, a sheet of plywood is placed under the tiles. The film that has not been removed is removed, and each row of tiles is glued to the valley carpet with bituminous mastic, and the seams are sealed with adhesive-sealant. Installation of Icopal Claro rectangular tiles is carried out in such a way that the central part of the wide petal of the upper row overlaps the joints of the tiles of the lower row. Other petals should cover the attachment points of the tiles of the lower row. When installing Icopal Claro shingles, each shingle is fastened with 5 roofing nails at a distance of three centimeters above the cutouts and along the edges. Five nails per shingle. For slopes greater than 45 degrees, use 7 nails per shingle. Two additional nails over the corner of the shingle.

Roofing in places of mounting openings

Sealing of openings through the roof of ventilation, communication pipes and antenna devices is carried out with the help of special passage elements. The installation of the flange of the passage element is carried out in the following order:

  • According to the template, holes are marked and cut in the lining carpet and the base.
  • Bituminous mastic is applied to the lower surface of the flange.
  • Then the base of the passage element is installed, and then it is fixed with nails around the perimeter with an interval of 15 cm.

Rows of bituminous tiles laid on the surface of the flange are cut and glued with Icopal bituminous mastic. The seams are then sealed with adhesive-sealant. The junction of the slope to the brick chimney is carried out using a pattern from the Icopal Pinta Ultra valley carpet or galvanized metal, made directly on the job site. At the junction of the slope with the chimney, a wooden triangular rail measuring 5x5 cm is nailed to the base. The lining carpet is wound onto the rail. Ordinary tiles are put on a rail from the bottom side of the chimney. The lifting strip with the lower part of the chimney is mounted so that it extends 30 cm onto the chimney wall and 13 cm onto the shingles. Then the side lifting strips are mounted, which are brought under the tiles. The last to be mounted is the upper lifting strip, which also runs under the tiles. The rows of tiles that go to the side lifting lanes are fixed to the Icopal bituminous mastic. The seams are sealed with glue-sealant.

Installation of ridge tiles

Ordinary tiles are brought to such a level at which the attachment points of the last row will be covered with ridge tiles. The ridge is mounted with ridge tiles from the Icopal Combi ridge-cornice strip, breaking them into three parts at the perforation points. After removing the protective film from the underside, the ridge tile is laid with the short side parallel to the ridge and folded onto both sides of the slope. Then they are fixed on four nails, two on each side of the slope. The ridge tile is laid with an overlap of 5-10 cm in such a way as to overlap the attachment points of the previous ridge tile.

The last ridge tile is glued with Icopal bituminous mastic or with a building hair dryer. At the end of the installation of bituminous tiles, all seams, ends, valleys, junctions, installation passages must be sealed with Icopal adhesive-sealant. The adhesive is UV resistant and remains elastic, providing moisture protection to the joints.

And in combination with high efficiency and affordable price, ICOPAL flexible roof becomes the best option for private construction and cozy dachas.

Flexible tile ICOPAL - the choice of an economical owner

The basis for bituminous tiles is fiberglass - a durable and reliable inorganic material that is resistant to decay and organic damage. Mineral fiberglass is almost eternal: it is not afraid of any temperature changes or corrosion. The use of high-strength fiberglass gives the Icopal flexible roof resistance to mechanical damage - snow removal from the roof will not affect the performance of the tiles.

On both sides, the fiberglass is impregnated with SBS-modified bitumen. The polymers in the bituminous impregnation are responsible for plasticity and resistance to deformation. An important point - the same bitumen is used in all components for shingle installation. With the complex use of ICOPAL materials, you can not worry about the tightness of the roof for 40 - 50 years.

The upper, decorative layer of the tile is made of dust-free granules of slate or basalt. A wide range of shades and durability of mineral chips will allow you to decorate your home for many years. Vacation home, choose an architectural solution to match the building or the surrounding terrain, and resistance to ultraviolet radiation and precipitation will allow the roof to ideally maintain its appearance for several decades.

The bottom of the shingle is covered with an additional bituminous layer - it provides higher tightness, provides faster and stronger setting during installation.

Among the wide variety of ICOPAL shingles, it is worth highlighting three main collections:

Ikopal Plano (Finland)

A wide palette of shingle shades and a strict leaf shape allow you to create expressive compositions. The series is designed for installation on slopes with a slope of 11.3 0 . A distinctive feature of the production is the use of several types of powder: coarse-grained colored chips are applied to the upper side, fine-grained granules, together with adhesive bitumen, are applied to the lower side.

Siplast Versit (France)

Spectacular and expressive series for connoisseurs of the classics. There are also several types of powder in production: coarse-grained colored chips are applied to the upper side of the shingle, and fine-grained granules are used on the bottom. A discontinuous strip of adhesive bitumen is located in the center of the outer side, the center of the inner side is equipped with a non-removable protective film strip.

The series is presented in several stylish collections: Versit Carre is presented in a palette of 12 expressive shades, Versit Ekail is presented in two classic colors (graphite gray and bauxite red).

Siplast Tuazit

The series is designed for installation on slopes with a slope of 16 0 . The double fiberglass backing provides higher mechanical strength. The series is also presented in several collections: Toazit Carré (a palette of five shades), Toazit Ekeil (two classic shades), Toazit Revive (presented in two strict "stone" colors).

ICOPAL soft roof installation technology

Flexible bituminous tiles are produced in the form of shaped modules of compact dimensions. They are laid in rows overlapping, creating a visual effect of real tiles. A private house, decorated with high-quality tiles, stands out from the neighbors.

Each package of Icopal shingles contains instruction by installation. However, a more rational solution would be to search for professional roofers - the craftsmen know all the subtleties of installing a flexible roof. Only with high-quality installation of the shingle can you be sure of the durability of the roof.

Basic rules for proper installation:

  • Use shingles from several packages at the same time. This is necessary to even out the color gamut, since the smallest shades of mineral chips may vary slightly - it is not visible near this, but from a short distance the color transition will be striking.
  • Do not lay the shingle during precipitation - rain or snowfall adversely affects the quality of bonding, leaks are possible in the future. It is also undesirable to carry out roofing work at sharply negative temperatures, since the adhesive properties of bitumen decrease in severe frost.
  • Use reliable lining material on the entire roof area. Icopal carpet is perfect.
  • Particular attention should be paid to difficult areas: junctions, valleys, etc.

When installing the ICOPAL roof, you must follow the following scheme:

  1. For laying shingles, a rigid, even base is required. First you need to create a base of edged boards, OSB or plywood. We check that the surface is perfectly smooth - without nicks and irregularities. The humidity of the base should be medium (no more than 20%).
  2. We install ventilation. On slopes with a low slope (15° - 25°), the ventilation outlet is 33 cm 2, for slopes with a higher slope (25 ° - 85 °) - 16 cm 2 per square meter.
  3. To ensure the tightness of the roof with a slope of up to 85 0, we use the ICOPAL lining carpet. It acts as an additional waterproofing.
  4. We install grooves (valleys).
  5. We mount the protection of the eaves and drips.
  6. We mark with chalk lines.
  7. We glue the shingle. If the installation of the roof is carried out in the cold season, then the boxes with tiles should be stored in a warm room, and it is permissible to use a building hair dryer for additional fixation. In the most “problematic” places (near all protruding structures), it is advisable to additionally fix the shingle with nails.
  8. We install additional elements and roofing adjunctions.

The company "Vazhny Dom" offers the most attractive prices for the installation of turnkey flexible roofing. We strictly follow the instructions from the manufacturer and guarantee a quick and accurate Icopal installation. The safety of your roof is our top priority.
