I have been using the Electrolux REX electric hob, model KT6421XE, for about a year. In my almost white kitchen, a black glass-ceramic hob with a stainless steel color frame looks very stylish and advantageous. In addition, this frame protects against overflowing liquid, the countertop is always clean.

4 HiLight burners, three are round, the lower left has three heating zones, and the upper right has a circle + oval. We chose it specifically with such an extension, since we often use the ducklings. Unfortunately, there is not enough power to use all 4 burners at the same time. And even three, if everyone works at the maximum, but this happens quite rarely, so I manage to cook and fry everything.

The touch control panel is quite comfortable. Commands are confirmed by beeps and the information is shown on the display. The scale is from 0 to 14, but you can only cook at 12-14, the rest is for heating food.

By trial and error, I still adapted and made friends with our Rex. In general, I am satisfied with the panel and its functions, however, I do not cook much and exquisitely. An excellent “automatic heating” function, it really saves time, the surface itself sets the maximum heating level for a particular burner, and when the water boils, it automatically switches the heating temperature to a pre-selected figure.

From the function "countdown timer" I'm generally delighted. The timer can be set simultaneously for all four cooking zones. After selecting the desired burner, set the minutes and select the desired power. After the set time has elapsed and an audible signal sounds, the hotplate switches off automatically. That is, knowing the exact proportions, you can cook a simple dish without standing next to the stove. For example, I leave a Turk with coffee for two cups in the morning for 6 minutes at the 14 mark, and I can get ready without worrying that the coffee will run away or boil away. Or I set 25 minutes at the mark of 10, and cook buckwheat porridge, walking with the child on the street. There is also a countdown from the start of cooking. This timer is designed to control the time of the burner, but I personally have never used it.

Quite convenient is the function of automatically turning off the hob if liquid is spilled on it or something is on the panel for more than 10 seconds (pot or potholder). Before the stove turns off, a warning beep will sound for a few seconds, so there is time to remove the object if it was accidentally placed there.

I use the lock feature all the time. This function allows you to lock the control panel, which prevents accidental switching off or changing the heating power. When work is completed and the hob is switched off, this function is deactivated automatically.

I have never used the STOP+GO function. I don't quite understand what it is intended for. When this function is activated, all active cooking zones go to minimum. In this case, the heating power can no longer be changed, but the "Timer" function remains active. When the STOP+GO function is deactivated, the previously operating cooking zones automatically return to the pre-heating power. What this gives me is not clear, since the residual heat at the burners is quite strong, and the dish can “reach” even when the stove is off.

But the function "Protection from children" was simply necessary for me. This function prevents accidental switching on and use of the hob, and in a house where two inquisitive kids, a lot of accidents happen. If this function is canceled for one cooking cycle and after turning off the stove, the "protection" will turn on again. Very comfortably!

Manufacturers recommend cleaning the hob after each cooking, but I don’t succeed. Therefore, small dark spots and scratches appeared on the glass-ceramic, but they do not affect the quality of the surface.

Installing the instrument

Before installing the Electrolux EHF 96547 XK panel (reviews indicate that the product fully performs all the functions declared by the manufacturer), you should rewrite all the technical specifications that are on the bottom of the device. Then the device is mounted in kitchen furniture specially designed for built-in hobs. Household appliances are produced together with a power cord.

The electric hob must be located at a distance of 50 cm from wall cabinets and at the same distance from walls and other surfaces. A protective floor is installed under it. For more details on the installation of the device, see the instruction manual for Electrolux EHF 96547 XK. Connection to the mains is made only after the complete installation of the panel.

Do not connect the device to and into an extension cord. When connecting, the wire must be fixed, and the plug must fit snugly into the outlet.

About using the product

The built-in hob (electric) turns on with one press on the power indicator. The control program includes an automatic shutdown function that turns off the instrument if:

  • all up to one burner is completely switched off;
  • power is not set after turning on the device;
  • the control panel is filled with some kind of liquid or on the condition that there is a foreign object on it for more than 10 minutes;
  • The hotplate is not switched off and the heating power remains unchanged.

Before turning off the appliance, the hob emits a characteristic sound signal.

If the heating power is set to 1-3, the device will turn off after six hours. With a setting of 4-7, the device will automatically stop working after five hours. At 8 to 9, the panel will turn off after 4 hours. If the heating power is at 10-14, then the device stops working after 1.5 hours.

To turn on the power, you need to click on the required mark on the panel ruler. You can set the power by swiping your finger along the ruler to the desired parameter. If the hotplate is not working, then O is displayed on the control panel. When the hotplate is running, a power indicator appears from 1 to 14. A half-zero means that the Stop + go function is running. If the letter E plus some number is displayed on the panel, this indicates a possible malfunction of the device.

The two burners on the hob have several operating circuits that can be turned on and off with the corresponding buttons. This function allows you to use cookware of different sizes for cooking.

When cooking, you can use the "Automatic heating" function (indicator A). This mode heats up the hotplate faster. First, it heats it up to maximum power, and then reduces the temperature to the required one.

The Stop + go function switches all cooking zones to a lower heat setting. When turned on, the power level cannot be adjusted. This mode does not affect the operation of the timer in Electrolux EHF 96547 XK.

The instruction notes that during operation of the device, you can completely block the control panel, use the child protection mode, which prevents accidental activation of the product. Its inclusion is indicated by a burning letter L on the control panel.

The OffSound Control button indicates the residual heat level. Three sticks indicate that the hob is on and cooking is in progress, two indicate keep warm, and one indicates residual heat.

Appliance care

Electric hob Electrolux EHF 96547 XK needs careful and attentive care. Its surface should be washed after each cooking. Before putting the dishes on the hob, you should make sure that its bottom is clean. Scratches and dark spots do not affect the operation of the cooking equipment. To clean the surface from dirt, use a special agent for hobs and a glass scraper.

If hot plastic, products containing sugar or a plastic bag come into contact with the appliance, they must be removed immediately. To do this, tilt the scraper at an acute angle (45°) and thus gradually clean the panel. All other contaminants are removed after the Electrolux EHF 96547 XK has completely cooled down. The control panel requires the same careful maintenance as all other parts of the appliance.

Energy saving

The hob Electrolux EHF 96547 XK will significantly help save energy when cooking. The instruction manual for this purpose recommends using the following tips:

  • Place the cookware before the hotplate is switched on.
  • The dimensions of the bottom of the container and the burner must be identical.
  • A small container should be placed on the appropriate burners.
  • The dishes must be placed on the central part of the burner.
  • If water is heated, then it needs to be poured a little more than required.
  • When cooking, it is recommended to cover the pan with a lid.
  • Residual heat can be used to melt food and keep food warm.

The built-in hob (electric) requires special treatment. So, for cooking on it, you should choose containers with a thick and flat bottom. If the container is made of aluminium, copper or enameled, this may affect the discoloration of the hob.

To save money, use the ÖkoTimer function, which switches off the cooking zone shortly before the countdown timer sounds.

  • Heating power up to one in Stop + go mode. Helps keep food warm.
  • From one to three. In this mode, dishes can be cooked from 5 to 40 minutes. This is hollandaise sauce, melting food, thickening eggs, scrambled eggs.
  • Three to five. Prepare rice and milk dishes. You can reheat cooked food. Working process time - 25-50 minutes.
  • From five to seven. Steaming vegetables, fish and meat dishes. The whole process takes 20 to 45 minutes.
  • Seven to nine. Steam potatoes are being prepared. Cooking time - from 20 to 60 minutes.
  • Nine to twelve. Light frying food. Cooking pancakes, donuts, eggs.
  • Twelve to thirteen. Strong frying of meat and fish dishes. Their cooking time is 5-15 minutes.
  • Mode fourteen. Boiling water. Boiling cereals. Cooking roasts and goulash. Deep frying.

The hob is easy to operate. To cook on it, you do not need special skills, it is enough to carefully study the instructions in detail.

Safety

Read the instruction manual before installing and using the equipment. Please note that improper installation of the instrument can cause injury and damage. With a lack of skills in installing built-in hobs, it is better to entrust this work to professionals.

Children should not be allowed to play with the product and packaging materials. Do not allow children or pets near the operating appliance or when the panel has not cooled down enough. It should be remembered that during operation, all parts of household appliances are very hot. The child lock must be used at all times. Children under the age of three should not be allowed near the panel, especially if adults cannot provide adequate supervision.

It is forbidden to start the machine from an external timer. Do not leave food that is cooked in oil or fat on the surface of the panel, as this may cause a fire. When frying in oil, the dishes should be covered with a lid. In the event of a fire, the appliance must be unplugged immediately and covered with a blanket.

Items must not be placed on the hob. This also applies to metal products: knives, spoons, forks, lids, etc. It is forbidden to clean the device with a steam cleaner.

If cracks have formed on the glass-ceramic surface or it has begun to crack, then such a device cannot be used, but it should be disconnected from electricity so that it does not shock. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced at the nearest service center.

The installation of the device must only be carried out by a qualified person. Do not install a damaged device. When installing the product, follow the operating instructions.

All necessary clearances between furniture and electrical appliances must be maintained. The cut surfaces of the countertop into which the panel will be mounted must be lubricated with sealant in order to prevent the wood from swelling under the influence of moisture.

Equipment must be protected from moisture and steam. It is not installed near doors and windows. Otherwise, the cookware may fall off the panel when the door or window is opened. If the built-in panel is located above the drawers that are pulled out, then there must be sufficient space between them for air ventilation.

The bottom of the hob becomes very hot during operation, so a fireproof gasket must be placed under the appliance to prevent penetration into the appliance from below. The product must be connected to the mains by an electrician. The hob must be grounded. Care and cleaning of the device should be carried out only when the panel is unplugged from the socket.

Before putting the product into operation, you should make sure that the parameters of the device correspond to the parameters of the electrical network in the apartment. Before using the device, make sure that it is installed correctly. A loose cord or loose plug can cause the contacts to overheat. Do not use the power cord from another appliance for the built-in hob. It is necessary to ensure that the electrical wires are not tangled with each other, and the cord is not too tight. If the outlet is near the panel, then you should make sure that the cord does not swing. It should not touch the appliance and hot dishes, as it may melt when in contact with them. It is forbidden to use extension cords and tees when connecting the panel.

Remove all packaging, protective film and stickers before first use. The appliance is intended for residential use only. When installing it, do not block the ventilation holes.

Do not leave the device unattended and do not touch it with wet hands. Do not touch the device if it has been exposed to water. First, it must be disconnected from the electrical network.

Price

It has a very reasonable cost for equipment of this level Electrolux EHF 96547 XK. The price of the device ranges from 14.5 to 20 thousand rubles. The lowest cost of the product is noted in the retail outlets Tekhnostudii, Megabit, Eldorado, Technosila, OGO.

It is not enough to purchase modern kitchen appliances for cooking, it is also important to learn the rules for its operation. Many have already appreciated the benefits of induction cookers, and most owners claim that they will not return to old electric stoves, even with a glass-ceramic surface. And some are ready to sacrifice the savings that they could have if they installed gas equipment (in homes where such an opportunity is available), and prefer induction cookers. Why is this kitchen appliance so popular among consumers, and how to use the induction hob correctly?

Compared with gas and simple electric stoves, this type of equipment has the following advantages.

Connecting an induction cooker

Connecting an induction type stove requires certain knowledge and skills in electrical engineering. The choice of a place to install the device is dictated by the following requirements:

  • installation of the plate is carried out on a flat floor / surface without distortions;
  • ventilation is provided, small gaps - the device should not overheat;
  • the plate must be grounded;
  • for connection, a cable with a cross section of 2.5 mm² is used;
  • the wiring section leading to the device must be copper;
  • the presence of a socket near the place of the planned installation of the device;
  • household wiring must be suitable for the load level created by the operating appliance.

If the device is not equipped with a power cable, then you should purchase a power cord yourself, focusing on the characteristics of the device indicated in the documentation. It will not be superfluous to consult with a specialist.

Attention! Mistakes in the self-installation of the induction cooker are fraught with breakdown and loss of warranty service for the device, as well as problems in household wiring.

If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to contact a professional specialist about connecting an induction cooker.

Switching on and off order

An important aspect in the operation of the induction hob is the correct switching on and off of the device. Most modern models are equipped with control panel. Activating the operation of such induction cookers consists of the following steps.

  1. The device is turned on by holding the "On / Off" button for several times.
  2. The hob emits a beep and displays the control menu.
  3. Using the menu, the user needs to select the burner, set the heating parameters and the cooking program.

Switching off the induction cooker at the end of cooking is carried out using the control panel (the “Shutdown” item), if any. The device not equipped with a display is switched off by the “On / Off” button, which must be held for a few seconds until the hob turns off.

Operating modes

The method of setting the heating power of the induction hotplate differs for different models. It can be:

  • touch buttons on the control panel with intuitive designations "+" and "-";
  • touch digital scale, with which the degree of increase in heating is carried out by swiping a finger to the right, and to reduce power - to the left (slider control);
  • mechanical regulators, rotated clockwise to increase the heating power, and in the opposite direction - to reduce the heat supply.

In premium cookers, the heating power of the burner is adjusted automatically using built-in sensors that determine the size of the cookware.

The number of temperature gradations varies from 3-5 to 10 or more depending on the class and equipment of the device.

Slider power control

For greater convenience of using the induction cooker, manufacturers equip the devices with additional functions.

  1. Booster Mode- transfer of energy from a free burner to a working one, which allows you to speed up the cooking process.
  2. The possibility of combining the power of two adjacent burners when using oblong-shaped dishes such as ducklings.
  3. The modes of preparation of various dishes programmed for certain parameters of time and temperature.
  4. Heating function left on the dinner plate for a long time.
  5. Automatic switch-off of the burners- the emergency mode works at hit on a working surface of liquid.

Some models have built-in cooking modes

Surface lock and unlock

A convenient additional option is the ability to block the device from accidentally turning on the oven, changing settings by careless movements or children. When the lock mode is activated, the device does not respond to pressing the touch buttons on the control panel.

Activate and deactivate the mode by holding it for 3 seconds buttons with a key/lock icon. A message should appear on the control panel stating that lock mode is enabled/disabled. On some models, instead of a message about the activation of the lock option, an indicator in the form of a key / lock appears.

To lock the panel, use the key in the form of a padlock.

The procedure for activating and removing protection against accidental clicks may differ for different models. Therefore, it is recommended that you carefully study the instructions for use of a particular induction cooker.

Choosing cookware for an induction cooker

There are special requirements for cookware for induction cookers. As with any electric stove, the dishes must have thickened bottom at least 2-6 mm or, in relation to pans, a solid anti-deformation disk - this will help to avoid deformation during strong heating. In addition, the bottom diameter should not be less than 12 cm. You can use the Turk on an induction cooker only with the help of a special adapter.

The bottom should be flat so that it fits as closely as possible to the surface. Do not use pots and pans with a concave or damaged bottom. It is also better to abandon the dishes that were previously used on gas stoves.

Dishes must be made from ferromagnetic material- it is he who will allow her to react with copper coils.

To check if the cookware is suitable for cooking on an induction hob, a special icon will help - a pictogram in the form of rounded zigzags or the inscription "induktion" on the bottom of the pan.

This is what the designation of cookware for an induction cooker looks like

In the absence of any signs, you can check the suitability of dishes using a conventional magnet.. If the bottom attracts it, then the cookware is suitable for induction. A suitable option is stainless steel, enameled and cast iron utensils.

Safety regulations

Induction hobs compared to gas and conventional electric hobs are considered less dangerous. The magnetic field created by a working stove is harmless to healthy people if you are under its influence for no more than 3 hours. The surface of the appliance does not heat up, so you can put food in an empty space next to a boiling pot.

The surface of the device does not heat up

However, an induction type stove, like any electrical appliance, requires compliance with the operating rules in order to avoid injury and damage.

  1. Cookware should be removed with care, avoiding touching the heating zone in order to avoid burns, as the heat does not dissipate immediately. For the same reason, it is not recommended to leave the dishes on the switched on burner unattended, since when the contents completely evaporate, the pan overheats and you can get burned. It takes a short time for the glass-ceramic surface to cool down.
  2. It is necessary to use special utensils corresponding to the diameter of the burner. Can not use saucepans with warped bottoms.
  3. Do not allow moisture to enter the working surface of the stove.
  4. It is possible to clean the surface of the device only after disconnecting from the power supply.
  5. It is contraindicated to be near a working induction cooker people with pacemakers.
  6. Observe standard precautions when working with electrical equipment.

How to care for an induction hob

As a rule, the surface of the induction cooker is made of durable glass-ceramic material, it requires some care.

  1. To clean such a surface, it is best to use a separate soft sponge.
  2. For heavy soiling, purchase a special glass ceramic scraper, but not a metal washcloth.
  3. As a detergent, choose special for such a surface. silicone-based solutions that form a protective film. In extreme cases, you can use liquid dishwashing detergent, but avoid using powder formulations.
  4. After washing the surface, wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
  5. If necessary, it is best to wash the hob immediately after cooking.
  6. Do not allow sugar and salt to get on the glass-ceramic surface. In case of contact with such bulk substances, brush them off and wipe the surface.
