Laundry in the pantry. Ergonomic laundry solutions for your home. The heating system can be different

Nowadays, there is no longer a need to spend treasured hours going to public laundries, because you can equip an excellent laundry, or, as it is often called, a “laundry room”, in your home.

Size matters

The size of the laundry must be chosen based on the area of \u200b\u200bthe house itself and the availability of free rooms in it. You should be aware that the room should be of such a size that there is space in front of the washing machine for convenient loading and unloading of laundry. It is also important that there is air access to linen stored in containers and baskets, containers for sorting linen, etc. Many homeowners are not very concerned about this issue when designing, and as a result, very little space is allocated for the laundry room (since there is no other place provided): it can be either a small room or a nook under the stairs, or a corner in the dressing room or pantry, or part of the kitchen area.

Recently, the owners of private houses began to prudently allocate a fairly spacious room for household needs, often it is combined with a dressing room and ironing areas and occupies part of the basement, and sometimes even a small wing of the building is assigned to it.

Technical requirements for the premises

Unfortunately, there are no specific technical requirements specifically for laundries in private homes, but self-respecting architects, during the development of the engineering part of the project, always turn to design engineers who, when calculating, take into account the requirements of SNiP 41-01-2003 “Heating, ventilation and air conditioning ". So, in an unheated basement, it is forbidden to arrange a laundry, and especially a dryer. It is better if the laundry is located near the water and sewer risers and a window is provided in it. It also needs to be equipped with heating and forced ventilation systems, since this is a zone of high humidity. As a rule, depending on the size of the room and the installed equipment, engineers make a thermal calculation, where, among other things, they give recommendations on the choice of ventilation systems. For a laundry, a supply and exhaust unit is often designed with mechanical stimulation (or mixed, if there is a natural exhaust channel). The air exchange rate for the inflow should be at least 10, for the exhaust - at least 13. If there is a room for drying and ironing in the laundry room, then the air exchange rate for the inflow should be at least 4, for the exhaust - at least 6.

Note that if a boiler with natural removal of combustion products is installed in the laundry room, then a forced ventilation device is unacceptable. In this case, a supply and exhaust system is required. It is also necessary to provide a sufficient distance between the boiler and the water intake point (at least 60 cm). The requirements for electrical equipment in the laundry room are regulated by the current PUE and SNiPs for rooms with high humidity: lighting devices, switchboards, sockets, etc. must be in a moisture-proof, splash-proof design, etc.

Floors in the laundry room must be waterproofed and tiled with ceramic tiles. Ideally, a slope and a drain are required

Laundry equipment

Home laundry consists of the following components:

  1. Washing machine (or even several machines if the family is large) with different washing modes.
  2. Drying machine.
  3. Sink.
  4. Equipment for ironing and steaming (ironing board, iron, steam generator, etc.).
  5. Baskets/bins for soiled linen, as well as small shelves and countertops.

The latter, by the way, can make your life much easier: it is convenient to store household chemicals on them, fold freshly washed linen, etc.

All equipment must be correctly arranged. So, if two washing machines are installed in the room, they should be at a small distance from each other (about 5 cm). This is due to the fact that the vibration that appears during the operation of each of them can adversely affect the life of the devices.

When determining the diameter of the sewer riser pipe, it should be remembered that dirty water can be drained from two machines at the same time, therefore, the pipe size must be selected taking into account volley discharges.

Coarse filters must be mounted on the supply pipeline (the ideal option would be to install a complex of cleaning systems with a water hardness regulator). Moreover, each device must have its own water supply pipe, which, if necessary, can be blocked without harm to another machine.

Wall cabinets and shelves will help free up space on the floor for a comfortable chair or sofa. Under the sink you can put baskets for clean and dirty laundry. It will not be superfluous in the laundry room and a rack for ironed things. The ironing board, so that it does not interfere, can be mounted on the wall and folded when not in use. The best option for home laundry would be a mini-wardrobe with a built-in ironing board.

Room design

Of course, many people believe that a home laundry is a purely functional space that should not be particularly beautiful, and even more so correspond to some kind of style. But this opinion is wrong. After all, harmony in the design of the house is achieved precisely by decorating all rooms, even if they are purely utilitarian. As for the design of the laundry room, the emphasis here can be placed on color. As a rule, not too much area is allocated for it. Therefore, it is best to keep the interior in light colors, which will visually expand the space and also bring a feeling of freshness and cleanliness to it. Bright posters or photographs on the walls can act as accents. Choose colorful laundry baskets and boxes for small items, pour cleaning products into beautiful bottles - in other words, create a comfortable atmosphere for yourself, and three hours of washing and ironing will fly by!

Laundry rooms typically feature mosaics, ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware, and wet room paint and plaster.

Laundry area plan with equipment location

Some cottage owners prefer to set up their own mini-laundry or even dry cleaning in the basement of the house and refuse the services of the respective companies. There are a number of companies that help to correctly plan and equip a home laundry. For example, in this project, a part of the basement floor is reserved for it. There are spacious washer-dryer and ironing areas, as well as separate rooms for storing linen and detergents.

In modern apartments, you can not do without a pantry. As a rule, not only pickles and jams are stored in such a room, but also all temporarily unnecessary things (bicycle, skates, etc.). Unfortunately, in most cases, the pantry is cluttered and its interior is far from the design of the rest of the house in terms of harmony. If you bring the utility room in order, it will become much more aesthetic and functional.

Putting things in order

Before you start developing the design of a pantry, laundry or utility room, you need to conduct an audit in this wonderful corner and get rid of unnecessary trash. Of course, if the apartment was not bought in a new building. Here are some helpful tips to help you transform your home on a budget:

    Spring-cleaning. It has already been mentioned before. Without cleaning, it will not be possible to rationally plan the space.

    Redecorating. Usually there are no window openings in the pantry, so the room especially needs antifungal and antibacterial treatment. The most suitable material for arranging the interior of the pantry is ceramic tiles, which cover both the walls and the floor.

    Provision of a ventilation system. To maintain a normal level of ventilation in the room, install a modern ventilation system in it.

    Lighting. A windowless room needs good lighting. An ideal option for a pantry is a luminescent module.

If there is no utility room, where to make it?

The design of any utility room is carried out depending on the location of the room and the functional load assigned to it.

Pantry adjoining the kitchen

If the room is located near the kitchen, it is advisable to store food in it. For convenient storage, we recommend equipping the room with hanging shelves, built-in baskets and modules with drawers. All containers are best placed along the walls, so it will be possible to provide free access to each of them.

Utility room next to the bedroom

This arrangement makes the room ideal for a dressing room. To determine the ideal design of the space, we recommend that you look on the Internet for photos of the interior of the pantry-dressing rooms. If the area allows, place a closet in the room. In miniature rooms, it is appropriate to use floor and hanging shelves, as well as various hangers for clothes, hats and accessories.

Pantry next to the living room

The utility room adjacent to the living room is best to “turn” into a library or study. Even if the room is small, it will probably be possible to place a computer desk with a chair and a bookcase (if necessary) in it.

Storage room next to the bathroom

In most cases, the owners, guided by the proximity of the sewer and water pipes, make a laundry room in the premises. You can wash, iron and dry clothes in it. The design of the laundry rooms implies the placement of appropriate furniture and equipment (washing machine, ironing board, laundry cabinet, dirty laundry basket, etc.). Since things are sometimes dried in the room, when designing the interior of the laundry room, special attention should be paid to ventilation. Otherwise, the room will be very damp and unhygienic.

Utility room next to the hallway

The owners of apartments with a pantry located near the hallway are very lucky. After all, the hallway will be able to perfectly “unload” by placing shoes and outerwear in the utility room. If the pantry is also spacious, it can store not only some things from the hallway, but also household utensils.

Thus, by rationally approaching the arrangement of the utility room, you will definitely be able to make it a practical and functional room, the presence of which will greatly facilitate the life of all households. Interesting options for the design of pantries can be found by browsing thematic photos on the Internet.

Agree, doing laundry at home is much more pleasant when the house has a specially equipped laundry room, where everything you need for washing, cleaning and ironing is collected. The size of the room, of course, depends on the plan and size of the house. It is most convenient to place the laundry next to the bathroom. It must be functional. The washing machine and dryer must be located close to each other. You can also purchase “two in one”, but the durability of the drum will significantly decrease. Let's talk about everything in order!

Laundry room: 3 stages of planning

You often have to visit the laundry, as laundry is an integral part of life for any family. This is especially true for large families with many children - daily mountains of dirty clothes are provided. Since the laundry room has a purely functional purpose, the design must be practical.

1. Finishing

The finish should be moisture resistant, easy to clean and not deteriorate from contact with abrasive substances. For the floor, it is best to use tiles, and paint the walls with moisture-resistant paint. Vinyl wallpapers are also suitable as wall decoration, but it is recommended to use them in places located away from a source of moisture. The walls of the laundry room in a wooden house must be treated with a special varnish.

2. Layout

● Decide where the equipment should be located. Everything must be done in such a way that transferring the washed laundry from the machine to the dryer was as easy as shelling pears. Sometimes for such purposes it is better to buy a powerful electric extension cord and long drain / water hoses.
● Laundry room can be equipped with a sink, where it will be convenient to wash stubborn stains or just rinse your hands.
● Installing a clothes folding table as well as an ironing board will make your life much easier. To save space, install folding models that can be hidden behind the front door or cabinet door.

3. Storage space

The laundry room in the house should be equipped with storage spaces. If space allows, use the bottom and top headset. Open shelves or shelving will not be superfluous.

● Savings
It's best to take care of this right away. Give preference to technology that reduces water and energy costs. Old machines use 25 liters of water just for washing without rinsing, and a lot of energy for heating and spinning. New models cost 6 liters of water and effective washing in warm water. The low noise level that the new machines provide is also welcome - this is important when the laundry is located next to the living rooms.

● Accessories
The laundry room must be equipped with one or more laundry baskets. In the company to pick up additional accessories for them. It can be a special box for washing powder, various jars for soap, baskets for storing bleach, air conditioners.

Any hostess dreams of a well-maintained home in which every corner would be functional. Not only standard rooms are being equipped. In some cases, a laundry room is built in the house. This room, which helps to unload the rest of the space, since it will house all the necessary household appliances.

One of the interior options in the home laundry

As a rule, in any private house there is enough space that can be used to equip the laundry.

Only when choosing equipment for it, you need to focus on the parameters of this separate room.
In the arrangement use:

  • washing machines with different washing modes;
  • special equipment for rinsing clothes;
  • centrifuges for squeezing clothes and other things;
  • ironing and steaming equipment.

All this equipment can be built-in or freestanding. Its power is also different. Selection criteria depend on the needs of consumers.

In some cases, special devices are also equipped for drying washed laundry. But this is only when:

For this reason, the design of such a room is developed in advance.

Do you need a separate laundry room

Each person answers this question differently. For some, one washing machine is enough. Only now, if washing is carried out only a few times a week, then it is delayed, as a rule, for the whole day. In this case, the equipment is too overloaded and quickly breaks down.

Someone, on the contrary, in such a room feels the need. This is due to the fact that washing is much faster. Moreover, it is performed using more than one washing machine. And this is a kind of saving time and energy.

For some people, having a separate laundry room in a private home is a certain part of the image in life.

As a rule, all laundry equipment is located in standard rooms:

It takes up space and this arrangement of equipment does not always look attractive. It is constantly in sight. It is for this reason that it is still worth thinking about arranging a laundry room in order to keep the design of the house in its original form.

Laundry room

Many people think that for this there should be a separate room in a private house. In most cases this is the case. But, despite this, it is possible to equip the laundry in any other place.
As a rule, such a room is planned at the stage of building a country house, because it needs to be fully equipped. This room should have:

But this is only if a fairly large amount of equipment is used for washing. If only two or three washing machines are used, then a separate room can be equipped. For example, instead of a wardrobe or in an old pantry. The design may be different. The room will not be visible to the eye.

The optimal size of the laundry room in the house

If there is already a designated room for these purposes in the project of the house, then you will have to take care of its functionality in the future. If the building project is only being drawn up, then it is worth considering that the laundry room can have the following area:

  • 4 sq. m.;
  • 6 sq. m.;
  • 2 sq. m.

There may be other sizes. The last option is suitable for arranging this room in an already finished house.
A laundry room with a larger quadrature can not be equipped. These parameters will be sufficient for normal use of the premises.

Some nuances of planning a small laundry

In most cases, it is settled in a pantry or other utility room. Only up to two washing machines are installed there. They must be correctly set, as the vibrations that appear during the operation of each of them can adversely affect the duration of their service life. Because of this, you need to place them at a small distance from each other. 5 cm will be enough.

Next, you need to connect two separate inlets of water supply pipes and two drains. At the same time, the main sewer pipe must be of large diameter in order to withstand flows from two machines at once. Moreover, special filtering equipment must be installed on all pipes with water supply. Pumps, as a rule, are installed in common for the use of water throughout the house. They have a high power rating.

Do not forget that if the room is small and no longer has any source of natural ventilation other than the door, then over time the moisture in the machine, which is formed as a result of washing, will cause mold to appear on some of its parts.

Arrangement of a large laundry room

This separate room may have a different design. It is planned initially during the construction of the house. Although if there is free space in it, then you can equip it later.
The room can take the following forms:

  • square;
  • rectangular.

A square-shaped room is considered more functional. It can accommodate all the necessary equipment rationally and at the same time save free space.
Immediately it is necessary to determine:

Important. If the floor in the laundry room is uneven and slippery, then it is quite possible that the equipment will not stand still during operation, start jumping and shifting. And all this negatively affects the duration of its use.

Pipes are connected to the equipment for supplying and draining water. And you need to do this for each equipment separately.

If the main source of water in the house is either a well, then it is necessary to install additional pumping and filtering equipment for the normal functioning of the laundry. Mount it on the main water supply pipe to the room.

After that, the wiring is already done. For water supply, it is more rational to use plastic pipes with a diameter of 5-6 mm, and for draining - 10-15 cm.

Be sure to make ventilation passages. They will help get rid of the rotten and humid air, which quite often causes mold to appear on the walls and ceiling.

You need to have several ventilation holes. For the entry of air masses, the ends of the pipes are placed at the bottom of the wall. The pipes are laid inside the wall and fixed with concrete mortar. To exit - at the top and mounted in the same way.

In some cases, additional equipment is installed:

  • fans;
  • hoods and more.
  • on gas;
  • with the help of convectors;
  • on the water.

It is very popular today.

The scheme of installation of underfloor heating in the laundry room

It can function with:

  • water;
  • electricity.

Special infrared heaters or pipes for hot water supply are laid on the floor surface. The outer lining of such a system can only be non-combustible and well-heated material:

  • ceramic tile;
  • porcelain stoneware;
  • a natural stone.

It is for this reason that it is worth considering the design of the room in advance so that everything in it is in harmony.
You also need to equip plums on the floor surface. But this is only if the laundry also performs the functions of a dryer. This will avoid the accumulation of water on the floor surface, which over time will cause damage to the finish.

If the "warm floor" system is used in the room, it is not recommended to install pipes for draining water on the floor surface.

The color for the laundry room is also chosen in accordance with the color scheme of the house itself. The classic option for is, of course, white and all shades of milky, vanilla, ivory. They expand the space, creating an atmosphere of festive cleanliness!

An elegant gray palette is more often used for painting wood in bright rooms with windows where there is enough natural sunlight. Furniture in natural shades of wood is suitable for country style, rustic, loft, bringing you closer to natural natural values.

Pale blue gamma refreshes even a small laundry room, filling it with a breath of sea azure. More juicy shades of blue look spectacular on a white background, setting up a positive and productive work. In this, I want to do and do a lot and quickly, make real plans for the future. Yellow color will cheer you up and fill even the closed basement of the laundry room with the sun.

Mediterranean palette: turquoise, olive, mint, sage, peach, mango - this is a riot of warm colors of the Mediterranean that will turn ordinary household chores into a fascinating story with a great ending! You can add bright colors with wallpaper, colorful accessories, curtains and lamps. You can change these details from season to season, thereby easily and inexpensively updating
