How midges appear at home. How to quickly get rid of small flies in the kitchen: fighting fruit flies and sciarids How to get rid of small flies in an apartment

In almost every home, sooner or later, small flies appear in the kitchen. These miniature flying insects do not bite and do not cause other obvious harm to the residents in the apartment, but with their importunity and omnipresence they can annoy no less than ants or cockroaches.

The reason for the appearance of midges in the kitchen is most often spoiled foods - fruits, vegetables, tea brewing.

One of two types of small flies can settle in the kitchen in the apartment. These can be Drosophila (or fruit flies) or sciarids (or soil flies). The former like to profit from various plant debris, as well as rotting vegetables and fruits. The second live in flower pots and feed on the roots of indoor plants.

Where do these little insects come from in the kitchen? Eggs and larvae are usually brought into the apartment by the people themselves on slightly rotten fruits. In addition, having a miniature size, these insects are able to migrate from neighboring apartments through ventilation ducts, small cracks and sewers. Having appeared in the apartment, these midges can live not only in the kitchen, but also in the bathroom, although it would seem that they have nothing to eat there. It is clear that they find food in the kitchen, and enter neighboring rooms through cracks and sewers. Drosophila live on rotten fruit. Sometimes the reason for their appearance is a piece of spoiled fruit that has fallen into the slot. They can multiply rapidly, settling on damp potatoes or in a rotten onion, from where they scatter throughout the apartment. Fertilizing houseplants with used tea leaves and tea can also cause small flies to multiply rapidly. Finding out where these uninvited guests come from, you can think about how you can get rid of them.

By leaving food in open places, you yourself support the life of house flies - literally feed them from your table

To get rid of small flies, you should carry out a general cleaning in the apartment (primarily in the kitchen). At the same time, we must try to find the place where these harmful insects come from - the places of their habitat and reproduction. It can be a tea bag that has fallen past the trash can, an open jar with leftover jam, an unopened juice bag that has not been removed in time, a spoiled potato or rotten fruit. For them, there will be enough stuck pieces of food in the pipes and the grate of the sink. One of the easiest ways to get rid of small flies is to deprive them of food. If the flies have nothing to eat, they will soon disappear on their own.

The earth in pots of indoor flowers can be watered with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or sprinkled with ground pepper - this will help get rid of annoying midges
Ways to deal with small flies in the kitchen are as follows:

  1. Conduct an audit of stored vegetables and fruits, get rid of rotten ones. Keep high-quality fruits in the refrigerator if possible.
  2. Place all dry foods in an airtight container.
  3. Rinse the sink, pour a small amount of soda into the drain hole and pour in a little vinegar. After the reaction is over, accompanied by a characteristic hiss, it is necessary to rinse the sink with water (you can clean it with a plunger).
  4. The earth in pots of indoor flowers can be watered with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or sprinkled with ground pepper. Help to get rid of the soil fly a few matches stuck in the ground with their heads down. It is advisable to sprinkle the soil on top with small pebbles or marble chips.
  5. Pet feeders should be cleaned and washed immediately after feeding.
  6. Traps for small flies work well. They are made very easily: in a plastic cup or jar you need to put a little jam, a piece of fruit, or you can pour a little beer. Roll a funnel out of paper with a small hole, insert it into a glass with a narrow tip down and fix it with tape. Flies will fly to the smell, climb into the jar, and they won’t be able to get out of there. Traps need to be changed from time to time. Used ones should be thrown away together with the caught insects, after filling them with water or detergent. Instead of a paper funnel, you can use cling film by tightening the top of the cup with it and puncturing a few small holes in it.
  7. Many insects, including fruit flies, are afraid of the smell of geraniums. If it does not help to completely get rid of small flies, then it works 100% as a prophylactic.
  8. Sticky tapes from flies help to remove these insects.

These simple remedies will help you get rid of annoying little flies in your home without the use of unhealthy chemicals. The main thing is to be patient, as the insects will not disappear immediately, but after a while. Those who wish to quickly destroy Drosophila can be advised to use fly sprays (for example, Dichlorvos) or an electric fumigator, but remember that there should be no people or pets in the room during processing.

In the warm season, small midges, the scientific name of which is Drosophila, may appear in an apartment or a private house. They do not tolerate various infections and do not pose a danger to humans, since, unlike blood-sucking insects, they do not bite warm-blooded creatures. Miniature flies hatch from eggs laid on the surface of fruits and vegetables and multiply very quickly. The main source of food for Drosophila is decaying organic matter: ripe and overripe fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, old tea leaves and other plant residues. To get rid of small flies in the kitchen, you can use chemicals, purchased and homemade traps. But first of all, it is worth putting things in order in the kitchen and in the utility rooms, where food supplies are usually stored.

Kitchen cleaning

The genus Drosophila includes up to 70 varieties, each of which has certain food preferences. But all of them are attracted by the smell of acid released by fermented or sour products. Small midges fluttering around the kitchen are called differently in everyday life: wine, vinegar, fruit or fruit flies. But the methods of getting rid of all fruit flies are the same.

Before starting the extermination of flying individuals, it is necessary to clean up the kitchen and hide food in places where midges cannot reach them:

  • Discard rotten fruits and vegetables.
  • Wash the garbage bin with laundry soap, even if a garbage bag is inserted inside it (dried drops and drips of fruit juice can become a source of food for midges).
  • Carry out a general cleaning in the kitchen, thoroughly washing all hard-to-reach places (under the refrigerator, at tables and cabinets), because any stains from spilled liquids can attract midges.
  • Clean the sink and drain under it from accumulated organic debris (wash with any means, scald with boiling soapy water, clean the walls of the drain with a brush).
  • Throw away dirty, worn kitchen rags and sponges.
  • Any dishes or products left on the kitchen or dining table should be covered with an upturned plate, a clean towel, and a lid.
  • Food stocks that are stored at room temperature should be placed in cans, plastic containers or tight plastic bags that are hermetically sealed.
  • Foods that can tolerate low temperatures should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
  • After each preparation or meal, thoroughly wipe tables, cabinets and sinks, as drops of water also attract fruit flies.

If you put things in order and leave fruit flies without a source of food, their population will gradually disappear without any additional measures. But this will not happen immediately - for another 10-70 days it will be possible to observe insects flying around the kitchen. Drosophila can be quickly destroyed only with the help of bait traps, which are easy to purchase at a hardware store or make your own.

Drosophila traps

The range of ready-made baits designed to fight fruit flies is rather modest. If desired, in the departments of household chemicals, you can find traps with a special attractant that affects fruit flies:

These traps are easy to use. They effectively catch small insects. There are also cheaper glue-based baits:

  • Aeroxon Fruchtfliegen-Falle;
  • Raptor.

Their principle of operation is simple: a jar of liquid is installed inside the structure, which attracts fruit flies with its smell, and an adhesive layer is applied on the inside of the trap. Flies flying to the aroma of the bait are firmly glued to the cardboard and die.

You can make a primitive glue trap yourself: buy cheap fly tape, put a little citrus juice or red wine on its surface. If you hang it near the kitchen sink or in fruit storage areas, midges will fly to the smell and stick to the sticky layer.

DIY lures

To fight fruit flies, it is not necessary to spend money on store traps. They can be made with your own hands, especially since no additional materials are required for manufacturing, because everything you need can be found in every home.

The principle of operation of traps

The principle of home-made baits is the same - a “tasty” liquid is poured into the container or pieces of overripe fruit are placed, and small holes are made in the walls of the trap through which fruit flies can crawl:

Any of the proposed options “works” no worse than purchased traps and is capable of exterminating a large population of fruit flies in a couple of days. As bait, you can take almost anything that is at hand:

  • slices of pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, bananas, oranges;
  • banana peel;
  • apple cores;
  • old jam;
  • fruit compote;
  • wine or apple cider vinegar;
  • beer;
  • used tea bags.

Traps should be set until the last midges disappear from the kitchen. To avoid the reappearance of fruit flies, it is advisable to leave 1-2 traps for another 10-14 days. If suddenly young individuals hatch from the laid eggs, they will inevitably fly to the smell of fruit acid.

Sciarids or mushroom mosquitoes

Small midges flying around the kitchen are not always fruit flies. It can also be sciarids, popularly called mushroom mosquitoes. They can only appear where indoor plants are grown. Potted soil is often infested with sciarid eggs, and under favorable conditions, larvae hatch from them, and then adults.

Flying sciarids are not dangerous to humans, and they are not capable of harming domestic plants. But the larvae in the soil can gnaw thin roots and lead to flower disease. The main reason for the reproduction of fungal mosquitoes is the frequent waterlogging of the soil, therefore, first of all, the flooded plants should be dried and then watered more carefully.

There are several ways to destroy sciarids:

  • Buy an insecticidal preparation (Aktellik, Decis, Karbofos, etc.), dilute according to the instructions, spray the aerial part with the resulting solution and spill the soil in a pot.
  • Use special remedies for mushroom mosquitoes (Bazudin, Zemlin, Grom-2, Pochin). Scatter any of them into shallow grooves made on the surface of the soil in a pot.
  • Spray the soil of an infected flower with any aerosol against flies and mosquitoes, include attractants in the form of plates or liquids in the room.

If these measures do not help and mushroom mosquitoes continue to flutter over flowerpots, you will have to transplant the plants into fresh, pre-steamed soil.

To eliminate the risk of sciarids appearing in the kitchen, you need to adjust the watering regime for indoor flowers and do not fertilize them with various foods. If you water the flowers with water after boiling vegetables or eggs, sleeping tea leaves or meat broth, then the benefits of this will be very doubtful, but the appearance of mushroom mosquitoes or fruit flies is quite likely.

Representatives of the genus of small insects, which has about 1.5 thousand species. The life expectancy of flies depends on the ambient temperature: at 25ºС it is about 10 days, at 18ºС it is almost twice as long. With favorable air temperature in winter, the life cycle of small flies can increase up to 2.5 months. These insects are dangerous because they transfer various microorganisms and waste products of their life to food. Drosophila larvae entering the human digestive tract can cause intestinal myiasis.

How to remove flies in the apartment?

Small flies massively live in places of processing, storage of vegetables and fruits. Then they are transported to markets, shops, supermarkets. After entering a person’s home, they begin to multiply rapidly, so getting rid of them is quite problematic. The small size allows insects to easily spread through multi-storey buildings through small cracks, through ventilation ducts, appearing where the source of food is. Garbage chutes, trash cans, fruit and vegetables that go missing, even plant crops are all favorable conditions for fruit flies to live. To exterminate pests, they must be deprived of food and suitable places for breeding.

Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen - preventing the appearance of fruit flies

How to remove flies in apartments:

  1. If insects were seen in the house, you need to trace where they came from. Rotting vegetables and fruits can serve as food for them, it can even be a small piece of an apple that has fallen into some kind of slot. After finding the source of attracting Drosophila, spoiled food should be disposed of immediately.
  2. Plates, pet feeders should be thoroughly washed after feeding. Keeping pet dishes clean will also help in the fight against fruit flies.
  3. It is necessary to take out the garbage in a timely manner and close the bucket tightly.
  4. Regularly check the condition of vegetables and fruits. Spoiled fruits should be thrown away immediately.
  5. The kitchen needs to be kept clean. Wash dishes immediately after eating so that they do not accumulate in the sink.
  6. Drosophila can also live in indoor plants. To bring them out, it is necessary to reduce the number of waterings and mulch the substrate. It is also recommended to take green crops to another room to deprive insects of food.
  7. Fruit flies are very sensitive to temperature. On cool days, you need to open the windows and ventilate the rooms, on cold days - also all the cabinets in the kitchen. In such conditions, pests will die from hypothermia.

To protect the apartment from fruit flies, you need to follow preventive measures. If you maintain cleanliness in the house, you can forget about the use of chemicals. They will have to be resorted to if the main condition has not been met.

Trap for small flies

You don't have to use expensive products to get rid of pesky insects, as there are more economical ways to deal with them.

Fruit fly control

Types of homemade traps from small flies:

  1. Pour apple cider vinegar (height 3-4 cm) into a deep plate, add a couple of drops of liquid dishwashing detergent, 40-50 ml of water and mix thoroughly. Then cover the container with the contents with cling film, and at a distance of 1-2 cm, make small holes in it with a toothpick. Small flies will feel the acidic environment and climb through the holes under the film. Once trapped, they can't get out.
  2. Put a few pieces of rotten fruit (apple, banana) in a large glass or beer glass and leave it in this form in a room where there are fruit flies. When enough fruit flies have gathered in the container, you need to fill it with water and pour it into the sink or toilet. This method of dealing with annoying guests is very laborious, since you have to repeat the event several times, but it is effective.
  3. In a room where insects live, you can leave a bottle of beer overnight with a small amount of drink at the bottom. In the morning, a large number of flies will gather in it.
  4. Put a plastic cup with bait on the table, which can be used as juice or pieces of fruit, cover with cling film, and make several holes in it with a toothpick or needle. Insects will be attracted to the bait, and when they fly into the trap, they will no longer be able to get out.
  5. A decoction of cloves will help get rid of small flies. To prepare it, you need to pour 250 ml of water into a container, add 5 g of flowers, boil and leave in the room. The strong smell of the product will make insects leave the house.
  6. To make this trap, you need to make a cone from a sheet of paper and place the narrow side in a glass jar with bait. It can be juice, pieces of rotten fruit, such as banana, peach, apple. Next, you need to glue the paper funnel to the neck of the container. The result of the work of a homemade trap will be noticeable in a day.

Remedy for small flies

To combat fruit flies, not only home-made traps are used. Many chemicals have been developed, and essential oils of plant crops also work well.

Popular remedies for small flies:

  1. The substrate of indoor plants is a favorable environment for the larvae of small insects. To detect them, you need to very carefully pick up the soil without damaging the root system of home crops. If small worms are found, it is necessary to change the soil or use insecticides, such as Aktellik, Fitoverm and others.
  2. If there are flies in the sink, there are two ways to get rid of them. The first is to rinse off the surface with hot water. The second is to apply one of the following means: Mr. Muscle, Domestos, Mole, Flup and others.
  3. To destroy fruit flies, you can resort to aerosols of well-known brands, for example: Dichlorvos, Raid, Raptor, Kombat. They help to quickly and effectively deal with flying insects indoors. Before processing the room, it is necessary to remove all food, remove people and pets. After spraying the product, you need to wash your hands and wash, after a while ventilate the room.
  4. Small flies do not like the smells of eucalyptus, anise, basil. To scare them away, you can use an aroma lamp and essential oils. The principle of operation of the device is quite simple. The classic aroma lamp consists of two parts: a water tank and a body where a candle is installed. Oil is added to water. As a result of heating, it evaporates and fills the room with a hated flies smell. The optimal consumption of the product is 5 drops per 15 m² of area.
  5. Electric fumigators with plates are great. It is enough to plug the device into a 220 V network and wait until all insects die.
  6. An effective way to get rid of fruit flies is to hang. One or more traps should be placed in places where pests accumulate. Fruit flies are attracted to the substance that the surface of the tapes is treated with. Traps should be changed as they fill with insects.
  7. Drosophila do not tolerate the smell of camphor. The way to use it is to pour the product into a frying pan and heat it to the maximum temperature, or rather until steam is formed. Then walk with her through all the rooms so that the aroma spreads evenly throughout the house.

Currently, there are a large number of means and methods for combating fruit flies. But the most important thing is to keep the house clean in order to minimize the likelihood of uninvited guests. If you can not cope with Drosophila on your own, you can seek help from the sanitary service.

It can be assumed that a sufficient number of people have come across a terrible misfortune - small flies that interfere even with ordinary household chores in their free time. Often, the problem associated with them is that a person has already removed all possible sources of their appearance, and they continue to fly. Who are they? Why do they appear? And, perhaps, the main question is how to get rid of them?

Who actually lives in the house?

More than once, everyone has noticed flying tiny creatures in various places in their apartment or house. They can prevent you from eating at your table, relaxing in front of the TV, reading a book, working, and generally performing any activities related to household issues. But what to do with them? In order to understand this, it is first necessary to find out their true nature.

These flies are Drosophila. This is the name of fruit flies, from a genus of small flying insects. They are small and very difficult to see with the naked eye. These creatures live for a relatively short time (about two weeks), but during their existence they manage to spoil the life of another earthly inhabitant. They look a certain way: yellow or red eyes and a tiny body. Of course, the appearance of one fly is not limited because they have a peculiarity. They live in packs and breed fairly quickly. So if you want to get rid of them, this feature will greatly complicate the task.

Why do little flies appear?

A person who carefully monitors the state of cleanliness in an apartment or house will be very surprised by the appearance of these creatures. After all, there is no heap of garbage in the bin, cleaning takes place often, dirty things do not lie on the bed for a long time, since washing is arranged several times a week, the dishes are washed, and things are in their places. But, you need to know that if there are fruits lying around in the house that are obviously not edible, wilted flowers have been standing in a vase for a long time, or someone from the “home” waters the flowers too abundantly, then do not be outraged. It is the formation of such conditions for fruit flies that will be most favorable for the reproduction of their species, nutrition (the same spoiled foods and others) and existence in general.

If, after reading all of the above, you deny the causes of the appearance of fruit flies, then there is a second option. It will be sewage, which in itself can bring a lot of trouble or ordinary ventilation.

How to "expel" uninvited guests from your house?

Let's start with the most difficult - sewer and ventilation openings, pipes for heating and basements. The very first thing that can be done, for example, with the sewerage system is to clean it at regular intervals. The same principle applies here as with stagnant water. In such an environment, it is quite comfortable for them to live, because there are various remnants of products and what a person has used or consumed. To clean the holes, proceed as follows: heat the water to boiling point, pour it into a mixture for cleaning pipes, which can be purchased at any store.

The fact is that it is boiled water that will help better in such a situation. It will remove layers of accumulated fat, which is located on the walls of the drainpipe. If the method was ineffective, then repeat the procedure. Be sure to check the condition of the external joints of the fittings and the elasticity of the fulement. And don't forget that if water oozes somewhere, then its accumulations can create an ideal breeding ground for flies.

What to do if there are flies over fruit?

Fruit flies are quite unpleasant creatures. They constantly fly over spoiled food, interfere with others and can be an unpleasant addition to the interior of the house.

After they burst into our lives, the question logically arises: "how to remove them." There are several ways to get rid of such small insects.

The most common and effective way is any vessel with a neck. A bottle or a jar, even a vase is fine for us.
Knowing the addictions of our enemy, it is necessary to take various sweets and put them on the bottom of the selected container. Such sweets can be a variety of syrups, honey, sauces, drinks (including alcoholic ones like wine), as well as a variety of overripe or rotten fruits.
After the bait has been chosen, you need to take a sheet of paper and make a kind of watering can out of it. If the sheet is twisted, then a package with a hole is obtained. It must be inserted into a jar in which sweets have already been placed. In this case, you should not place a paper watering can so that it touches the bait with its tip.

How it works?

This device works quite simply. Midges, sensing the smell of food that attracts them, rush in search of it. When they fly inside the jar, they cannot get out through the narrow passage and remain there.

Given that fruit flies reproduce very quickly, such operations should be carried out until such time as they completely disappear. Otherwise, they will constantly increase their population and spoil food.

If after many attempts they still fly, then you should pay attention to the source of their appearance - eggs. If you destroy them, then you can no longer worry about small flying creatures.

How will the appearance of flies affect the life of a child living in your home?

Of course, there are many ways to overcome annoying guests, but how can this be done without harming small relatives and friends? When a situation arises in which there is no way to take pets or small children somewhere, and disinfection is urgently needed, then here is what can be done. First you need to purchase apple or white vinegar. Pour it into a small container and add detergent. Even the most ordinary liquid soap will do, the main thing is the effect. It would be nice to top up with household chemicals, which have a pleasant aroma of products made from wine or fruit compote. Because of this, fruit flies will fly to the smell, but as soon as they get to the surface of what is in the container, they will not be able to fly away and, accordingly, they will die there. This would of course be the best way. It is only important to remember that putting the product prepared with your own hands is higher on the shelves and away from children's hands.

How to deal with them if they live around flowers?

You may not have noticed flies near food, sewers or ventilation as often as near houseplants. Believe me, their appearance in such places is not uncommon.

It is clear that by frequently watering indoor plants, you give them a chance to continue their existence. Therefore, the very first rule: stop watering the flowers in such quantities and so often.

It is necessary that the top soil dry out because it is there that they store their larvae and laid eggs. If there is no wet surface, they will simply die. The second and no less effective option would be to remove the top layer of the earth. It is in it that the ill-fated larvae are located.

How not to buy spoiled products?

When shopping, carefully inspect the vegetables and fruits that you buy in spontaneous markets or in large supermarkets and stores. It is especially important to monitor the quality of products if you live in a small town. In such cities, it is not so often that products are updated in stores.

If you understand that, most likely, you will not eat these products for a long time (for example, you bought unloved fruits), then it is better to postpone the purchase. Buy such things only knowing that you will definitely use them. And do not forget that there are certain storage instructions for any product.

It is believed that small flies in the kitchen are annoying, but harmless. In fact, the question of how to get rid of flies in the kitchen is very important, because these insects can be carriers of dangerous diseases and pathogenic bacteria, whose presence is undesirable in our homes.

What flies live in the kitchen

Usually two types of small flies interfere with living in the kitchen:

  • fruit (drosophila);
  • soil (sciarides).

It happens that the invasion of flies comes from a damp basement in the house. If this is your case, then it will be impossible to cope with such flies on your own, even if all the residents of the entrance declare war on insects. It will be possible to remove flies only with the help of a special organization engaged in disinfestation using professional insecticides.

Little flies in the kitchen love to live on rotting onions, on damp potatoes, on left-over cut fruit. Often, blockages in sewer pipes become a breeding ground for fruit flies. They can also settle in flower pots if you decide to fertilize them with sleeping tea. In pots with flowers, by the way, there is another type of flies - soil flies. They actively breed in moist soil, and the main food for them is the roots of plants.

Why are flies dangerous? One fly can carry several hundred germs, spreading dangerous diseases, including intestinal infections. Flying from food to house plants, as well as leaving their marks on any kitchen surfaces, flies contribute to the contamination of the foods we eat.

How to deal with flies in the kitchen

Before you remove the flies in the kitchen, you need to find out where they came from. Examine the kitchen as well as other rooms for spoiled food. It is necessary to throw out the garbage, thoroughly rinse the trash can. It is advisable to wash the kitchen furniture inside and out. If you find a cluster of flies in the closet, it is very convenient to spray them with water and any detergent from a spray bottle - soapy water will not allow them to scatter in different directions. It is better to put all products in dry sealed bags. If there are animals in the house, it is necessary to wash their bowls and do not leave food in them for free. Also desirable remove all water sources- flies can not do without it. If the cleaning is done, but the flies are still annoying, the following should be done.

We clean the sewer

Flies can live perfectly in sewer pipes or fly through them from neighbors. This problem is especially relevant for old houses, where there are blockages or growths on the inner surface in the pipes - they are what attract the flies. To get rid of insects, you must periodically use a blockage cleaner. If such a tool is not at hand, you can pour a little soda into the pipe and then pour vinegar over the drain - you will hear a characteristic hiss, after which you need to rinse the drain with water and use a plunger.

Attention to plants

If you find that the soil in pots is wet, stop watering for a while or shed the soil with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. You can also spray the plants with the same barely pink solution of potassium permanganate from a spray bottle. The earth in a pot can be sprinkled with black pepper - flies are afraid of it. Another folk remedy is to stick matches into the soil with sulfur heads down. Remember that small flies love organic fertilizers. so don't use them for houseplants. If it was not possible to get rid of insects in flowers with improvised means, use special tools sold in stores.

Flies don't like the smell of geraniums, so keep a pot of geraniums on your kitchen windowsill. It will not only delight you with large and beautiful inflorescences, but will also be an excellent prevention against the appearance of small flies in the kitchen.

fly traps

If the question of how to get rid of flies in the kitchen continues to bother you even after general cleaning and fighting soil flies, use special traps. You can hang ordinary sticky fly ribbons. You can also buy or make custom traps. For example, you can put a bait (a piece of fruit, juice or even beer) in a glass, tighten the glass with a film, make several holes in it - the flies will come to feast on them and will not be able to get out. Instead of a film, you can make an ordinary paper funnel and insert it with the “nose” down, fixing the upper edge on the edge of the glass with tape. In this version, the flies will also be able to fly through the funnel into the glass and will not be able to get out.

Another trap option is to pour water into a cup with the addition of 2-3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, and drip a few drops of dishwashing detergent on top. Flies are attracted to the smell of vinegar, and the soapy water keeps them from flying away.

You can also use an ordinary open beer bottle with beer at the bottom - the flies will not get out of it either. All listed traps must be replaced in a timely manner with new ones if the fight against flies continues.

chemicals

Good old "Dichlorvos"

If none of the above methods helped, and the question of how to get rid of small flies in the kitchen is still relevant, you will have to use poisonous substances. It can be any repellent - they are sprayed in the kitchen, removing all open food and drinks from there. You can use the usual Dichlorvos or more modern drugs. Effective in the fight against flies and electric fumigators used against mosquitoes.

More details about the methods of dealing with flies will be discussed in the article.

Precautionary measures

When using any kind of fly control in the kitchen, keep your own safety in mind. Clean up with gloves, try not to breathe fumes from household chemicals.

When using chemicals, be sure to remove all products that may be sprayed with droplets, open containers of water or juice, food bowls and water for animals. Keep pets and people out of the kitchen while spraying chemicals. After processing the room, it is necessary to thoroughly wash all kitchen surfaces - cabinets, countertops, household appliances, floors. Be sure to ventilate the room after processing and after the disappearance of the flies.

Prevention

Here are some things you can do to help prevent the emergence and reproduction of fruit flies:

  • always take out the trash on time and keep the trash can tightly closed;
  • grease the inside of the cabinets with apple cider vinegar;
  • wash fruits thoroughly;
  • do not leave fruits and vegetables that begin to deteriorate;
  • do not use organic fertilizers for indoor plants;
  • regularly clean drain pipes;
  • do not allow overflow of earth in pots with plants;
  • tighten the ventilation holes with a fine mesh.

The main thing that will help prevent the appearance and reproduction of flies in the kitchen is it's hygiene. If there are no spoiled products in the house, then there will be no flies in it.
