How to install blinds on a plastic window. Installing fasteners for blinds to the ceiling and wall How to install blinds on plastic

It is not always convenient to use curtains. In some cases, blinds are more practical and more convenient. They make it possible not only to protect yourself from immodest glances in the evenings, but also to regulate the level of illumination during the day by turning the lamellas (plates). We will talk about how to install blinds on plastic windows in this publication.

Structures and installation methods

Blinds on windows are of two types - vertical and horizontal. Vertical slats are usually made of plastic or special dense fabric, cut into strips 10-15 cm wide. Less common are aluminum slats or synthetic threads.

Lamellas of horizontal blinds happen plastic, wooden and metal. Regardless of the type and material, they consist of a cornice and lamellas. Eaves - a plastic or aluminum U-shaped section in which the controls are located and to which the lamellas are suspended. Lamellas - horizontal or vertical stripes / plates, which actually close the opening. In order to be able to open and close the blinds, there are controls - chains or threads.

In horizontal models, there is also a control rod associated with a rotary mechanism. By rotating the rod, the angle of inclination of the lamellas is changed. This is how you can change the amount of light and the "transparency" of the window. If the slats are placed vertically (almost), they completely block the view. When horizontal, they almost do not interfere with the review, but there are still a lot of other positions.

Installation of horizontal and vertical blinds

When installing blinds, you need to fix the eaves. For fixing it, specially designed brackets are included in the kit. These brackets are attached to the window or wall, and the cornice is simply put on them (until it clicks).

There are several ways to install blinds on plastic windows:

The installation method of the blinds will have to be determined even before the purchase: the dimensions of the canvases depend on this. So the type of installation must be selected before measurements.

We take measurements

With the type of blinds (horizontal, vertical) and the method of their installation (on the wall, ceiling, in the window on the sash, in the window opening) you need to decide before buying. And even before the moment you start measuring. Because different installation methods require different sizes. Only with correctly made measurements, it will be easy to install blinds on plastic windows.

Another important point: each window needs to be measured separately.. Sometimes it just seems that they are exactly the same. Believe me, there is a difference. And the measurement results must also be recorded and signed, which specific window you measured and which sash it is. Accurate and detailed records will help to avoid confusion during purchase and installation.

In the window opening

Although the appearance of the products is different, when measuring there is no difference between horizontal and vertical models. If you are going to install blinds in a window opening, you need to subtract 2 cm from its width on each side. You can subtract 1-3 cm from the height of the opening. Such gaps are needed so that the canvas hangs freely in the opening and the lower edge of the slats does not rub against the window sill.

Please note that you can install blinds on plastic windows "in the opening" not flush with the edge of the opening, but deeper - at the very glass or stepping back 5 or more centimeters from the edge. If the opening has a trapezoidal shape, the height/width of the opening will be smaller for the glass, so we take measurements carefully. And yet, in this case, it is better to put marks for installation when measuring. Then you will know exactly where you will need to install the blinds on the plastic windows so that their dimensions fit perfectly.

On the ceiling or wall

Here the measurements depend on your desires. The length of the blinds can be up to the floor or just up to the windowsill. Moreover, depending on the type of installation chosen, the lamellas can cover the window sill or not. So the length is whatever you like.

This is a wall mount. When mounted on the ceiling, the length will increase., And how much - you choose

The width of the blinds with this installation method is wider than the window opening. How much wider depends on your desire, but the minimum entry is 5 cm on each side. But if the window is in the same plane with the wall surface, you will need additional brackets that are not included in the package: the lamellas must be placed at least 5 cm from the glass surface so that they do not interfere with opening the sashes for ventilation.

on sashes

When installing blinds on a multi-leaf window, there are two possibilities - put one device on each sash or order one long one for the entire window. Usually the first option is chosen - it makes it possible to open and close the sashes with the blinds lowered. If you choose this installation method, you will need to measure each sash and record the results. Sash can be different, so be careful.

The width of the blinds when installed on the sash is taken 3 cm wider than the glass. When hanging, the lamellas overlap by 1.5 cm on the profile. It is convenient and does not interfere with opening / closing windows. The length depends on the location of the fastener, but usually it is 5 cm longer than the height of the glass.

Once again, we draw your attention: we measure each sash!

How to install blinds on plastic windows: fasten to a wall or window opening

The first step is to mark up. We install brackets in the eaves. We place them on the right and left so that they do not interfere with the operation of the blinds. The installation height depends on the selected product length.

We apply the curtains, mark with a pencil on the wall the places for installing fasteners in the brackets. If we mount horizontal blinds (they are light and create almost no load), it is enough to put one self-tapping screw / dowel. Vertical ones are heavier, so you need to install all the fasteners from the kit.

There is also a second way. At the selected level, use the building level to draw a horizontal line, try to avoid tilting - this will affect the blinds (skew). Attach the bottom of the bracket to this line, use a pencil to mark the holes through the holes for drilling. If the length of the cornice is more than 2 m, an additional bracket is required to increase the rigidity of the structure, which is attached in the middle.

When attaching to brick or concrete, at the marked points, we drill holes in the wall or ceiling. Drill or hammer - who has what is available. The diameter of the drill depends on the size of the dowels. They usually come with a kit, but you can put your own.

We insert expansion dowels into the finished holes, carefully hammer them with a hammer. We put the brackets, fasten them with screws or nails (if using a dowel-nails). We install the eaves on the brackets, insert the plugs on the sides. For horizontal blinds, attach a rod (handle) to control the swivel mechanism. To do this, install a special hook (included) directly into the mechanism itself, attach the tip of the rod to this hook.

Installation of horizontal blinds on PVC window sashes

With this method of installation, the blinds are fastened with small self-tapping screws (included) in the window profile. Install them so that they do not interfere with the handle to turn. Be careful: if you drill too close to the glazing bead, you can damage the glass unit. Therefore, in this case, correct measurements are very important.

Installation step by step

The procedure is as follows:

Having to drill holes in a window frame can be intimidating, but there's nothing to worry about. In case of incorrectly made holes, unsuccessful ones can be filled with sealant. White silicone, not acrylic (acrylic quickly turns yellow). The characteristics of the windows will not be affected. What can be dangerous is getting into a double-glazed window. Then it might crack. But this is not fatal - it can be replaced, although it will not be cheap.

Installing the bottom brackets

But that's not all. To finally install horizontal blinds on plastic windows, you need to drill a couple more holes - under the latches (also called anti-wind). These are additional fasteners at the bottom of the opening sash of the window. The lower edge of the blinds is tucked into them. They do this so that when airing the blinds do not hang down, do not dangle from the wind and do not knock down objects on the windowsill.

Don't chat...

We set the clamps like this: we try on, pulling the blinds down a little, mark the places of fasteners, drill holes, install. We fill the lower bar into the installed clamps. Now, even with a draft or an open sash, the blinds will not hang out. The only thing to watch out for during installation is not to get into the glazing bead (this is a long bar that runs along the double-glazed window and holds it). It is necessary to drill a hole in the frame itself, stepping back at least 1 cm from the edge. Otherwise, there are no problems.

without drilling

There is also a way to install blinds on plastic windows and not drill the frame. This method is available only for those blinds that are hung on opening sashes. In this case, they are simply hung on plastic mounts / brackets that are put on the frame from above. To prevent them from moving, a strip of double-sided tape is attached to the back of the bracket. After removing the protective film, it can be glued (but you can not fix it).

These L-shaped plastic brackets are not included, but you can buy them from a store or from a company that sells horizontal blinds. This method is convenient by simply dismantling the blinds, which is convenient if they need to be repaired or washed.

Assembly of vertical blinds

Vertical blinds are installed in exactly the same way as described above. The difference is that the slats are installed after the eaves are fixed (the guide along which the runners move). For convenience, before attaching the slats, you can turn the sliders with an adjustment cord so that the slots in them are perpendicular to the eaves. Next, simply snap the lamellas into the sliders, inserting the strip until it clicks. So, in turn we fix all the lamellas.

If the slats are made of fabric, then after installing them, do not forget to insert the lower weight. Next, we attach the lower connecting chain to the lamellas.

Installation of vertical blinds is completed.

Installation of ready-made blinds on the windows does not require any special skills. Moreover, for this, in general, simple work, professional installers sometimes have to pay quite a lot of money.

Therefore, it would be most advisable to mount the blinds to the ceiling with your own hands. To do this, it will be possible to get by with improvised tools that are in the arsenal of any home master.

Aesthetics and practicality

More recently, blinds were perceived only as a kind of foreign exoticism. But rather quickly, our fellow citizens, accustomed to traditional curtains and curtains, were able to appreciate the practicality of use and the aesthetic beauty of these structures.

Since then, the "triumphal procession" of these light-shielding devices, invented back in the 18th century in the United States, began in the apartments and offices of our country. Today they are no longer perceived by us as something unusual - more and more owners of residential and office premises prefer these easy-to-use lattice structures.

The only negative that can be pointed out is the higher price of blinds compared to classic fabric curtains. However, the total cost of the structure can be reduced if you install it on the windows on your own.

Design features of blinds

Vertical blinds

Today in our market there are several types of blinds, differing from each other in the features of their design. Depending on their variety, the methods of attaching blinds also differ:

  1. Horizontal blinds. Reiki (or the so-called "lamellas") in this design are located one above the other. The access of light to the room is regulated here by turning the lamellas around their axis, as a result of which they either press tightly against each other or form a gap. It is necessary to install such structures, as a rule, directly on the window frames.
  2. Vertical blinds. They differ from the first option in the arrangement of lamellas hanging from top to bottom. Adjustment of light access in this case can be carried out both by turning the slats, and by moving them to the side, as with ordinary fabric curtains. In this case, fasteners for blinds are located directly above the window - on the wall above the window opening or on the ceiling.
  3. "Roman curtain". It is one of the varieties of horizontal devices. Only the access of light here is regulated not by turning the rails, but by lifting the entire structure: the curtain goes up, rolling up into a roll. Fasteners for blinds of this type are also located either on the wall, above the window, or on the ceiling.

The material from which the devices can be made is very different - aluminum, wood, fabric. But this in no way affects the features of the installation of fasteners for blinds. As a result, we have two main types of fastening:

  • directly on the window frame (for horizontal type devices);
  • on the wall or ceiling (mounts for vertical blinds).

If during the work some damage is caused to the blinds, then it will not be possible to exchange them for others. Damage caused by self-assembly is not covered by the warranty.

Installing blinds on a wall or ceiling

Blinds mounting scheme

The main device with which vertical blinds are attached is the cornice. Swivel and sliding mechanisms are installed in it, and lamellas hanging down are attached to it.

Preparatory work

To attach the eaves of a vertical device to a wall or ceiling, you will need the following tools:

  • impact drill or hammer drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • pencil.

Before proceeding with the installation of the eaves, you should make all the necessary measurements. In terms of height, the cornice should be installed in such a way that the lamellas hang down at least 5-10 cm below the window or window sill.

At the desired height, we mark a point on the wall and, using a level with a pencil, draw a strip along which the cornice will be attached. On this line, mark a point exactly coinciding with the middle of the window.

Cornice installation

Next, we will need to determine the points for installing fasteners - dowel-nails. To do this, we apply a cornice from a set of blinds to the line in such a way that its center corresponds to the mark of the center of the window.

If the part already has holes for fasteners, then we put points in these places on the wall or ceiling, depending on where you intend to attach the cornice. If there are no ready-made technical holes, then they will have to be done by yourself with a drill, stepping back a few centimeters from the edge of the eaves.

Then, using a puncher or impact drill, we drill a wall (ceiling) and hammer a plastic dowel into the hole.

We again apply the cornice in place so that the mounting holes in the cornice coincide with the dowels installed in the wall or ceiling, and with the help of self-tapping screws we fix it in the desired position.

In the case of a significant width of the cornice or the overall massiveness of the structure, it is recommended to additionally fix the cornice in the center in one or two places.

Installing blinds on window frames

This installation method is mainly used for horizontal devices. Unlike attaching a cornice to a wall or ceiling, this method is difficult for many home craftsmen.

Many do not quite understand how to attach the structure to the frame of plastic windows. Meanwhile, all the same self-tapping screws or screws are used for this.

In this case, when drilling an aluminum or PVC frame with a self-tapping screw, the tightness of the window does not suffer at all.

To do this, as in the first case, we make markings in such a way that the blinds evenly protrude beyond the edges of the glazing both on the right and on the left. In this case, we take into account that all preliminary measurements were made even before the purchase of the blinds, and they exactly match the dimensions of your window. We install the blind holders directly on the window frame, using metal screws (for aluminum frames) or ordinary screws (for PVC frames) for fastening. For more information on installing blinds, see this video:

We snap onto the holders or fasten the bearing cornice - depending on the design features of the device. On the cornice we sequentially install rotary mechanisms with control cords. It is also possible to install blinds of this kind in the inter-frame space if you have double wooden frames installed in your house.

The light protection device is mounted on the inner frame from the side facing the outer frame. To control the blinds, in this case, a hole is drilled in the upper part of the frame, through which the cords of the rotary system are threaded. For information on how to install blinds without screws, see this video:

As you can see, the installation of any type of blinds on the windows can be easily done by hand. This will allow you to significantly save on calling a team of professional installers. To carry out the work, it is enough to have only a standard set of home construction tools and the necessary fasteners.

In summer, blinds become an invariable attribute of a plastic window. Especially if the light of the midday sun is directed directly into the window, you have to look for protection behind curtains or blinds. A thing, no doubt, useful and practical. They are easy to use and take up almost no space in the window space. Roll or cassette designs are slightly inferior in popularity to classic horizontal lamellar systems or strict vertical fabric sets. The latter, for a number of reasons, have become wildly popular in offices and office spaces. The classic curtain is everywhere removed from the business style.

Ordinary lamella horizontal blinds are much more likely to be found in a window opening of standard sizes, vertical ones are mainly used in rooms with high ceilings and large windows. Roller blinds are preferred for opening plastic windows as a "deaf" protection from the outside world - in this they are indispensable. It can be a bedroom or a children's room.

Blinds fastening methods

Modern designs of fixtures for blinds on plastic windows can be divided into three categories:

  • Capital fastening to the frame using self-tapping screws or screws;
  • Mounting the blinds system on the sash of a plastic window, allowing it to open freely in all positions, including in ventilation mode;
  • The sparing method of fastening makes it possible not to disfigure the plastic profile by drilling holes.

According to the already established tradition, vertical systems are mounted on any window opening according to a baguette pattern, without contact with a double-glazed window. This is due to the design of vertical slats, their width is most often at least 10 cm, therefore, to regulate light transmission, at least 10-15 cm of space is required between the window and the lamella plane.

In addition, there are increased requirements for the appearance of vertical blinds used in office space. They should be successfully combined with the interior of the room and usually, in addition to plastic windows, they cover the window sill and part of the wall space adjacent to the window opening.

The design of such blinds practically allows you to open the sash of a plastic window only in the ventilation mode. The fastening of vertical blinds is almost identical to the installation of a baguette for conventional curtains, but instead of the latter, a special heavy cornice with a hidden mechanism for controlling the blinds slats is installed.

Roll options use a powerful and heavy web storage system, so almost always fastening to a plastic window is done using additional fittings and awnings. This allows the structure to maintain rigidity and strength when stretching the web to the required height.

Both horizontal and roller blinds are designed for one sash and are placed on the inside of the window.

How to fasten blinds on a plastic profile without self-tapping screws

Most people rightly believe that it is better if the fastening of the blinds to the plastic window is done without drilling holes.

The basis of the system is a set of horizontal strips of plastic, aluminum, pressed cardboard or wood connected in a special way into one flexible sheet. The special mechanism of the blinds allows you to rotate the strips around the horizontal axis, thereby changing the shaded area of the window opening.

All the secrets of blinds control are hidden in the box-shaped cornice located at the top. The total weight of the structure depends on the size and area of the blinds, the width and material of the lamellas. Fastening standard blinds with a lamella width of no more than 2 cm and a length of no more than 80 cm can be easily done on the plastic of the window using a special double-sided adhesive tape.

To glue the blinds cornice to a smooth plastic surface:

  1. We use double-sided tape or glue applied along the entire length of the glued cornice;
  2. When gluing, before applying glue to a section of a plastic frame, it should be thoroughly degreased with acetone or alcohol;
  3. Apply one layer of adhesive to the side surface and dry it for 1 hour. Then apply glue again and fix the cornice. Further operations can be carried out in 10-12 hours.

In the lower part of the window, clamps are glued in a similar way to hold the blinds in the expanded and taut state. A control cord or a special bar is threaded into the hole on the cornice, by turning which the angle of inclination of the slats is adjusted.

Advice ! The use of double-sided tape is a completely justified option, provided that the material used is of high quality.

To compare and test the strength of the connection, try attaching two identical objects to a smooth surface using tape and glue. In the first case, the tear-off force will be much higher than for an adhesive joint.

Fastening blinds on plastic windows using self-tapping screws

Before starting work, make sure that the height and width of the model you choose matches the proportions and dimensions of the window glass. On the Internet, there are many recommendations to use a plastic glazing bead to fasten the blinds - a narrow, 10 mm wide, strip of plastic that fixes the glass in the frame. Usually, the authors motivate the advice by the fact that in case of failure, the glazing bead on the plastic profile is easy to replace with a new one. It is easier and much cheaper than changing the lining.

It is easier and more reliable to fix the blinds cornice directly on the main array of plastic window cladding, approximately in the following sequence.

With the help of a level and a pencil, we mark the position of the cornice above the window glass in such a way that the window glass is closed exclusively by lamellas. We lay fastening earrings in the upper part of the eaves. These are elements that serve to fix the cornice body on external brackets, we install them inside the cornice according to the instructions.

We mark the position of the brackets on the cladding and mark with a pencil the places for drilling holes for self-tapping screws. With a drill, about 0.5 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screw, we drill one hole for each bracket.

For fastening, we select self-tapping screws of the sizes recommended by the instruction, or standard aluminum ones, for a Phillips screwdriver. The length of the working part is not more than 12mm. Having wrapped one self-tapping screw, the brackets should be aligned using the building level. Otherwise, the cornice can be fixed with a slope to the left or right side.

After that, the remaining holes for attaching the brackets are drilled, and the missing fasteners are wrapped. A cornice is put on the brackets, all the necessary accessories for the blinds mechanism. In a similar way, clamps are fastened with self-tapping screws in the lower part of the window, after which the fittings of the mechanism are adjusted.

Important ! When choosing drilling locations, one should not retreat excessively to the periphery of the window; it is possible to stumble with a drill on the hidden details of the window control mechanism.

Installation of blinds on the opening sash of a plastic window

The device of the sash allows you to refuse the use of self-tapping screws for fastening the blinds of any configuration. In this case, a special plastic earring is used to fasten the cornice, hooked, like a hook, to the upper edge of the window sash. Depending on the length of the plastic window and the weight of the blinds, there may be two or three such "hooks". Earrings simply "snap" into the body of the cornice, firmly held inside it due to the elasticity of the plastic. Further, the cornice is simply hung on the window sash.

It should be noted that this method of fastening is the most versatile and allows you to painlessly remove the blinds from the window and mount them again an unlimited number of times.

The disadvantages of such a mounting system include:

  • The fastening ear pinches the rubber seal of the sash, with prolonged use this can lead to partial punching of individual fragments of the seal and loss of tightness;
  • The plastic of the mount is inferior in strength to metal brackets, respectively, the service life of such a mount is much less;
  • When fastening the blinds, it is necessary to provide a limiter for the opening angle of the sash to prevent possible damage by the lamellas of the blinds to the inner surface of the window slopes.

After purchasing the blinds, the question arises of how to install them. In principle, you can turn to professionals, they will do everything quickly and efficiently, but of course not for free. If you don’t want to spend money and you think that you yourself can handle such work, then this article is for you.

I draw your attention, try to assess your strengths and capabilities without emotions, pragmatically and calmly, otherwise you can ruin the purchased blinds and damage the window.

Training

We determine what type of purchased blinds: horizontal, vertical or roller blinds.

Horizontal blinds are called with lamellas (slats) parallel to the floor and ceiling, vertical - blinds with lamellas perpendicular to them. Roller blinds are called sun protection products, which are a canvas (in most cases fabric) wound on a shaft.

It is necessary to take measurements correctly, otherwise all the work will go down the drain. If you make a mistake and the lamellas turn out to be too long, then removing the extra lamellas will not be difficult, but on the contrary, adding them if you have shortened them more than you need is unlikely to succeed.

Installation of horizontal blinds in the overlay

We measure the width and height of the window opening, the blinds should exceed it in these indicators by at least 3 cm or more.

In the case of fastening the blinds to the ceiling, we measure the distance from the ceiling to the window sill.

In the case when the window is flush with the wall, the handle may get in the way when opening, so you have to use brackets. Make sure that they do not touch the mechanisms inside the eaves.

Of the tools you will need a hammer drill or a drill and a screwdriver.

  1. We fix the brackets at the desired height.
  2. We install the cornice
  3. Installing the control knob.
  4. Checking the result

Installation of horizontal blinds on PVC brackets

Screwdriver and pliers required

  1. Using a special screw, we connect the PVC bracket to the universal bracket.
  2. We take a piece of cable of the required length and fix the upper cable clamp with a screwdriver
  3. We pass the cable through the eaves and lamellas
  4. We install PVC brackets on the cornice and fasten it to the sash of the plastic window. We tighten the cornice with a special key from the fastening kit.
  5. Install PVC brackets for the bottom of the window
  6. We pass the cable through the latch in the bottom bracket and pull it
  7. Now it remains to put the control knob and check how successful the installation was.

Installation of vertical blinds. Instruction

  1. Make markings for wall brackets to a height of plus 2 cm.
  2. Assemble the bracket with the spring
  3. Drill a hole 6 mm in diameter with a puncher in the wall
  4. After inserting the dowel and plugs, using self-tapping screws, fix the brackets.
  5. Install the brackets on the eaves to attach the decorative panel
  6. Next, you need to install the eaves. Remember, its front part must be inserted into engagement with the short edge of the fastening spring. Gently press the tail of the spring until you hear a characteristic click.
  7. With a rope, move the sliders to one side, with the help of a chain, turn them 90 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the cornice
  8. Attach the slats to the assembled runners
  9. To prevent the lamellas from dangling in the wind like strips of fabric, we insert weights into special pockets on them
  10. Install the decorative panel and bottom chain.
  11. We check the assembled structure.

Installing a roller blind on a window

Tools: drill or puncher, drills, level, double-sided tape, anchor screws, screwdrivers.

Roller blinds can be mounted on a wall, in a window opening or installed without drilling.

We make sure that nothing will prevent the opening / closing of the roller blind. If, for example, the window handle interferes with the opening of the structure, then you can turn the curtains so that they turn counterclockwise, and not along it.

  1. We assemble the roller blind. We insert a plug into one of the ends of the pipe, we mount a mechanism with a control circuit into the opposite one;
  2. To designate and drill holes for self-tapping screws, we apply curtains to the window. Align the shaft horizontally, for this you need to use the level.
  3. After that, install the latch in the bracket, fasten it to the bracket.
  4. Pass the fishing line through a special lower hole in the bracket so that it does not fall out, make a knot. The fishing line from the other end must be threaded into the guide and pulled into the lower latch.
  5. Apply double sided tape to the bracket. Do not forget to degrease the surface before this.
  6. Having removed the top layer on the adhesive tape, we mount the curtain on the window.
  7. We snap the hooks on the brackets to the stop.
  8. Next, we fix the bracket with self-tapping screws and fix the bracket on the other side.
  9. We check the quality of the installation.

Installing a roller blind with a fishing line

Usually they are installed separately on each of the window sashes.

  1. Make sure you have all the necessary accessories.
  2. If necessary, shorten the curtain fabric, then fix it on the shaft
  3. Pass the fishing line through the holes on the mounting corners, tie knots on its edges.
  4. Cut off the rest of the line
  5. Carefully, with the utmost care, insert the capsules into the edges of the shaft with the wound curtain.
  6. Snap the edges of the capsules of the mounting brackets.
  7. Make sure that the installed curtain is working.

How blinds are attached to plastic windows, on self-tapping screws and on adhesive tape

Hello. This time you will learn how to fix blinds on plastic windows. The topic of the article is interesting in that plastic or aluminum blinds are replacing less practical fabric curtains everywhere. Therefore, if you decide to make the windows in your apartment more modern and easy to use, the following photo reports on the installation performed are exactly what you need.

Actual fastening methods

Blinds are fastened to a plastic window in two ways:

  • With the use of self-tapping screws - the PVC profile will be drilled, and therefore, when dismantling the blinds, there will be holes that will not be easy to cover;
  • Without the use of self-tapping screws - the PVC profile will be intact and this is good, but the structure installed on top of the profile will be held less firmly in comparison with analogues fixed on self-tapping screws.

I don’t know which horizontal blinds you chose, and therefore I’ll tell you about the installation of each of the listed varieties separately and in detail.

Mounting using self-tapping screws

Blinds include the following:

  • The main structure of lamellas in the amount of 2 pcs. (one for each sash);
  • Fasteners for the upper part, 2 pieces for each sash;
  • Fasteners for the lower part, 2 pieces for each sash;
  • Self-tapping screws 20 mm long, 4 pcs. for each sash.

Do-it-yourself installation instructions are as follows:

  • We unpack the blinds and unwind the adjusting cord;

  • Remove the adjusting bar (cane);

  • We fasten the upper fasteners to the upper profile of the device so that the fasteners do not interfere with the operation of the mechanisms located inside the profile;

  • Next, we dissolve the slats so that they take a position characteristic of open blinds;
  • We apply the upper profile to the window so that the lower bar is located just below the glazing bead on the frame, that is, so that the glass is completely covered;

  • We mark the location of the fasteners on the window frame;

When marking, I recommend using the spirit level so that the upper bar is located exactly on the horizon and does not have distortions. If the window was initially installed skewed, we make the markup not according to the spirit level, but taking into account the location of the sashes.

  • According to the pre-made markup, we install fasteners on self-tapping screws;

The surface of the PVC profile is smooth, and therefore it will most likely not be easy to screw the screw along the mark. Therefore, before screwing in the self-tapping screw, we drill holes in the profile with a diameter of 2 mm, which is 1 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screws. It will not be difficult to screw the screw through pre-made holes.

  • After the fasteners are installed, we apply the upper bar to them and snap it in with a little effort;

  • From the outside, we finally fix the structure with plugs that are put on the holders until a characteristic click appears;
  • We lower the blinds so that the lower lamella is located in the lowest position;
  • We make markings for the lower fasteners so that they are located at the level of the ends of the lower bar;

  • We install fasteners on self-tapping screws;
  • We snap the bottom bar into the fasteners;
  • We install the adjusting bar on the original mount;

  • We check the performance of the installed blinds by opening and closing the gap between the slats.

Operation and maintenance

So we found out how to attach blinds to plastic windows on self-tapping screws. Among the recommendations for the use and maintenance of installed structures, I note the following:

  • We scroll the adjusting bar around its axis smoothly, since the hook with which it is attached to the mechanism is rather fragile;
  • In order to wash the window, we snap off the lower lamella and assemble the blinds upwards, this is enough to wipe the entire glass;
  • I recommend removing dust from the lamellas with a peacock-type whisk;
  • I recommend that immediately after the dust is removed, apply an antistatic aerosol to the slats, any of your choice.

Mounting without screws

Now I'll tell how to fix plastic blinds on modern double-glazed windows without using self-tapping screws.

In what case can fasteners without drilling be relevant? There are many such cases, for example, the use of rented housing, where, according to the terms of the contract, it is impossible to spoil the elements of the surroundings.

To perform installation work, you will need a set of conventional horizontal blinds with light plastic slats, double-sided tape and ordinary scissors.

The instructions for attaching blinds to plastic windows without the use of self-tapping screws are as follows:

  • Unpack the set of blinds;
  • We disconnect the adjusting bar from the main unit so that it does not subsequently interfere with the installation;
  • We lay the main block inside out;
  • We unwind double-sided tape to the length of the case;

  • We remove the protective film on one side of the adhesive tape and on the back side of the block, as shown in the photo;

We select double-sided tape so that the width of the tape is equal to the width of the blinds block. We glue the adhesive tape so that it is flush with the walls of the block. In addition, carefully smooth the glued adhesive tape from the inside, so that it sticks evenly over the entire surface.

  • We apply the blinds to the window and determine their position on the upper part of the sash;
  • Having decided on the location, we make marks on the profile corresponding to the ends of the block;

  • Next, remove the remaining protective strip from the double-sided adhesive tape and glue the block according to the marks made earlier to the profile;

  • We install the previously removed adjusting bar and on this installation can be considered completed.

How strong will blinds be held with double sided tape?

The actual operation of the blinds installed on adhesive tape shows that for 1.5 years the structure lasted without any changes, that is, it did not warp or fall. I think that in the course of the next two or three years the situation will not change.

When mounting the blinds block, only the upper part is glued to the adhesive tape, while the lower bar is not fixed. This practically does not affect the operation of the device, except that when the sash is opened towards itself, the lower part of the blinds will move forward and touch the indoor flowers on the windowsill.

I told my friends about this method of installation. I was told that the method is not bad, but they will not use it, since the tape after removal will leave characteristic marks that are difficult to remove. Is it really?

Marks will remain, but it will not be difficult to remove the remaining glue from the frame. It is enough to moisten a rag with sunflower oil and wipe the plastic surface and the glue spots will disappear by themselves. For more effective removal of stains from adhesive tape, we moisten the rag not with sunflower oil, but
