On the icon, everyone sees the tenderness and love of the Holy Mother for her Baby and all mankind. The Mother of God is written out in a red robe with a gold border, and Jesus is dressed in a raincoat fabric. The icon is not very common, but lists from it can be found in temples and churches in Bryansk, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Karelia, Moscow, St. Petersburg. The most reliable list to this day is in the walls of the Kazan Cathedral.

How does the Mother of God help?

The holy face is miraculous. He is approached with requests for help in raising babies, giving them health and patronage of the Higher Forces. Maternal prayers have tremendous power and, backed up by the miraculous properties of the icon, are the strongest protection for newborns. Prayers are also offered by parents for the addition of the mind, guidance on the true path of their grown-up children. History of the icon

On the icon called "Education", the Mother of God is depicted with the Eternal Child sitting on Her left hand. The right hand of Christ is stretched upward to the face of the Blessed Virgin. Until 1917, the holy image was placed in the Kazan Cathedral on Red Square, but after its destruction it was lost, now there is a copy of the miraculous icon, famous throughout Russia for its miracles. The name of the icon speaks for itself. In front of her, parents pray for their children, asking the Most Holy Theotokos to take them under Her protection, send them mind and fill their hearts with wisdom. Many parents, faced with the difficulties of communicating with a child, turn to the icon of the Mother of God Education for help. This image is honored on the feast of the icon Education - March 18 (5).

The meaning of the icon Education. The miraculous icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary came to Russia from Byzantium. Its location was the Kazan Cathedral on Red Square, where those who prayed to the icon of raising children invariably received the abundant help of the Mother of God. The significance of the icon of the Mother of God Education in relation to the spiritual formation of descendants is difficult to overestimate.

Now, in the Kazan Cathedral there is an exact list of the ancient icon of the Mother of God Education. The original image was lost in 1917 during the destruction of the Temple.

Akathist "Education", read before the image of the same name with the image of the Mother of God and the Eternal Infant, is a laudatory and thanksgiving hymn to the Mother of God. In her prayer, a woman of the Christian faith turns to the Blessed Virgin Mary with a request for intercession and protection over her child.

History and description

The ministers of the church recommend that the believing laity read the Psalter, which is the word of God, in moments of turmoil and confusion. However, it is easier for a person who is not accustomed to the church language to turn to God, the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints, reading "people's prayers."

By "folk prayer" is meant a laudatory and thanksgiving hymn called an akathist. The text of the akathist is very simple to read and memorize by the laity. It consists of 25 songs: 13 kontakia, each of which ends with the word "alleluia", and 12 ikos, ending with the invocative exclamation "rejoice".

You can read the akathist in the temple during the service or at home, secluded from relatives and friends, moving away from problems and worries, leaving all worldly affairs for a while. Maternal prayer is endowed with special power and faith. When reading an akathist, the mother's soul should be in a state of peace and tranquility. You can not turn to God and the Virgin Mary in moments of anger and malice. The best time to perform the ritual of praise and thanksgiving in front of the image of the Virgin is early in the morning, when the head did not have time to fill with mortal thoughts, and the body with food.

Akathist "Education" is distinguished by a light style and deep meaning. Turning to the Blessed Virgin Mary with a test of intercession, every woman of the Christian faith hopes for the patronage and grace of the Mother of God.

A brief ancient prayer has survived to this day, which is read together with an akathist in front of the icon of the Mother of God "Education". The prayer says: “I entrust my child entirely to my Lord Jesus Christ and Yours, Most Pure, heavenly patronage.”

Until 1917, the source of the icon of the Virgin "Education" was the property of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Moscow. During the revolution, the Orthodox church was destroyed, many images with images of God, the Mother of God and the holy great martyrs disappeared without a trace, including the “Education” board.

Today, in the restored Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Moscow, there is a copy of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Eternal Child in her arms, called "Education", famous for its miraculous power and good deeds.

The second copy of the shrine, which has no less miraculous power, is located in the recently erected and named after the “Education” icon in the cathedral of the village of Nekrasovka (located not far from Moscow).

The icon of the Mother of God "Education" is a very ancient miraculous image of the Virgin Mary, which came to Russia from Byzantium. However, no further information about this event is known to date. The image was called "Education", as it was usually addressed with requests for help in instructing children. It is rarely found in Russian churches and there is practically no new information about it.

Description and meaning

On the image of the Mother of God, called "Education", the Queen of Heaven holds the seated baby Jesus with her left hand. The child stretches his right hand up to the face of the Mother of God (in some images, the Infant stretches out both palms). The face of the Mother of God expresses tenderness, and she is addressed not only to the Divine Infant, but to the entire human race. She also points with her free hand at the Son.

The figure of the Virgin Mary is dressed in a dark red maforium with three stars (one of them is hidden from the worshipers by the Infant). The edges of the clothes are decorated with a golden border. The robe of Jesus is a cloak-like fabric, which many consider as a prototype of the shroud (a reminder of future suffering). Part of the chest is left naked (in some cases it is completely open, as a symbol of the denial of everything worldly).

Despite the general asceticism of the first Byzantine icons, it is this image that is distinguished by airiness and solemnity. The icon painter achieved this result thanks to light lines and a sophisticated palette. The iconographic type of the image is Hodegetria (“Guidebook”).

The icon is extremely important for an Orthodox person, because throughout his earthly life Jesus gave a blessing so that parents could bring children and bring babies who, from the beginning of life, could hear the Word of God, cultivating wisdom in their hearts. At the same time, He mentioned that the Kingdom of God will open only to those who themselves will be like a child.

Location

The source of the icon of the Mother of God "Education" before the revolution (until 1917) was the property of the Kazan Cathedral (Moscow's Red Square), but after the temple was destroyed, there was no more mention of it. Today, the restored Kazan Cathedral keeps an exact copy of the image. This list has miraculous powers, just like the original image.

Another copy is in the cathedral of the village of Nekrasovka (near Moscow), built not so long ago and named after the icon "Education". It was placed instead of the temporary temple of Sergius of Radonezh. Some difficulties arose during the execution of documents for the construction, but after a prayer service in front of the patron image of the temple, they were resolved. When the new church was opened, the parish grew so much that it required the construction of a new temple complex.

Some prayers dedicated to her contain a request that unreasonable children be taken under the protection of the Mother of God, that is, under her protection. There is another version of the prayer intended for the Virgin. It allows you to ask to take care of all your children (of any age and even those who have not yet been born) and show them the path of spiritual salvation. But we must not forget that in addition to teaching our children, one must also learn from them, otherwise one cannot be worthy of the Kingdom of God.

According to Elder Ambrose, parental prayer is endowed with special power. For this reason, it should not be neglected. It is necessary to pray with zeal, without ceasing to believe that the Lord will lead the child along the right path, and the Mother of God will protect him from dangers. The clergy believe that it is equally important that the child himself learn to pray for his salvation, starting from a very early age.
