We change the position of the pins of plastic windows. Instructions for self-adjusting plastic windows. How to adjust the window so that it does not blow

Plastic windows and doors differ from other options in practicality in operation and provide an optimal microclimate in the room. At the same time, the structures need adjustment, which involves setting up the mechanism depending on the situation. For this, there is a certain technology that allows you to independently make plastic doors and windows even more convenient and functional.

The need for a procedure

Plastic doors and windows are sealed and prevent the penetration of dust, moisture, cold into the room. As a result, they become practical for living spaces, but require periodic adjustment of mechanisms.

Adjustments are made as needed

When manufactured at the factory, windows and doors are adjusted in height, taking into account the pressure against the frame and the inclination. After installation, the product does not require special operation, but over time, the mechanism is subject to wear, the fasteners are loosened and it becomes necessary to adjust. Such a process may be required in the following cases:

  • violation of the easy movement of the sash, jamming of the mechanism when opening / closing;
  • loose pressing of the sash to the frame, penetration of cold air;
  • loosening of the handle mechanism;
  • change of cold season to warm;
  • sagging window or door sash.

There are situations when even professional tuning does not allow returning functionality to a plastic product and a serious repair is required. This is necessary with the low quality of the fittings that were used when installing the product. Incorrect assembly during installation is also the cause of breakdowns. Such defects cannot be eliminated on their own, and the help of a specialist is required.

Features of adjusting windows and doors of different manufacturers

Many factories produce plastic windows and doors, characterizing their products with easy operation and durability. Promotional offers often contain information about various unique technologies that distinguish products. All this can be a marketing ploy, since the designs of finished plastic windows and doors from different manufacturers practically do not differ.

A plastic window of any manufacturer requires regular maintenance.

REHAU products are characterized by high quality, but they also need to be adjusted during operation. The features of this process for REHAU brand products are expressed as follows:

  • the internal mechanism of doors and windows can be adjusted in several planes, that is, up and down, right and left, as well as with the pressure setting;
  • if the design is equipped with Siegenia Aubi brand fittings, then you need to tighten the screws to adjust;
  • if there is MAKO brand fittings, then it is required to remove the sash, and then carry out corrective work;
  • REHAU blitz products use Roto fittings, which require hex keys to work.

Fittings of different brands require a different approach to repair

One of the well-known manufacturers is Veka, which produces doors and windows of modern modification. When setting up such products, the following features are taken into account:

  • to transfer the structure to winter mode, it is required to turn the closing spike by 90 °, located under the upper turn, with a hexagon;
  • if the sash is closed, but the handle does not turn and it is impossible to close the window, then the sash should be slightly shifted towards the reciprocal zone of the blocker using the adjusting screw located under the lower hinge;
  • if the handle breaks, you need to turn the decorative trim by 90 °, unscrew the screws and remove the old element.

Windows and doors have a similar mechanism design

KBE brand products are of high quality, but require timely adjustment. To do this, pay attention to the following design features:

  • the tightness of the leaf to the frame is adjusted by three eccentrics located on the end part of the sash;
  • to eliminate sagging, adjust the screws on the upper canopy, that is, loosen the lower one and turn the upper element to the right or left;
  • a broken handle is removed by removing the lining and unscrewing the bolts.

The design of windows from different manufacturers is similar and does not require complex tools for adjustment.

Products from different companies differ only slightly in the shape of the control parts and their location. The principle of operation of the mechanisms is the same, and therefore it is easy to adjust the operation of the system with your own hands.

Self-adjustment of plastic doors and windows

For self-adjustment, you will need tools such as hex keys, flat and Phillips screwdrivers, as well as pliers and lubricant for mechanisms. You can carry out the process in a short period, following the instructions and using high-quality tools.

Adjustment of doors and windows allows you to create a comfortable microclimate in the room

How to set summer/winter mode

Setting the summer-winter mode of windows and doors is similar and is necessary when the season changes. In summer, the sash after setting is less pressed against the frame than when setting the winter mode. In hot weather, this ensures that air enters the room through the micro-holes. If you constantly use the winter mode, which is characterized by a very tight pressing of the sash to the frame, the sealant will quickly wear out, and it will be stuffy in the room during the heat. Thus, the difference between these two modes lies in the pressing density and the degree of tightness of the structure.

To manage the mode, you need to perform the following actions, such as:

  1. On the side end of the door leaf or window, in the handle area, there is a system of eccentrics, which are an adjusting tool.

    The eccentric allows you to adjust the pressure of the sash to the frame

  2. A hex key is inserted into the eccentric hole, the diameter of which corresponds to the parameters of the element.

    The hex wrench is the main tool for controlling window or door mechanisms.

  3. Next, the eccentric is slightly rotated by a few millimeters to weaken (summer) or strengthen (winter) the sash pressing against the frame. It is important to do this carefully and without sudden movements.

    For demi-season, you should only slightly adjust the rotation of the trunnions

  4. For easy correction of the pressure in the autumn or spring period, you need to rotate the element quite a bit, which should take the standard position.

    Mechanisms may differ in appearance, but work on the same principle.

Setting the sash pressure

In case of drafts, loose pressure in the hinge area, the mechanism is adjusted, for which a 4 mm hex wrench is required. First you need to determine the area from where the strongest blowing occurs. This is necessary to carry out the adjustment of the lower or upper loop.

The work package includes the following actions:

    To adjust the sash in a vertical position, use the lower hinge. A cap is opened on the hinges, which provides access to the mechanism and the hexagon hole.

    After removing the cap, the blade mechanism is visible

    The canvas is adjusted in horizontal or vertical positions. If the hexagon is rotated in a clockwise direction, then the window is drawn closer to the frame, otherwise it only turns out to loosen the fixation between the leaf and the sash, that is, to lower its lower region. Adjustment on the upper hinge is carried out only when the sash is fully open. In this case, it is impossible to move the window more than two millimeters.

    Using a hexagon, adjust the loops to the desired result

  1. When adjusting the pressure for the first time, it is important to only slightly turn the hinge mechanism with a hexagon. After several years of operation, the elements of the system wear out as a result of opening / closing and it is possible to increase the rotation.

How to adjust the handle of a plastic window or door

The handles of modern metal-plastic doors and windows are subjected to intensive and not always correct operation. To avoid breakage, turn this element only when the sash is firmly pressed. If there was a failure in the operation of the handle, then the following measures will help to solve the problem:

  • to replace the old element with a new one, the decorative trim is rotated by 90° and removed after unscrewing the screws. The mechanism is removed and a new one is installed, returning the screws and the overlay;

    A new pen is easy to purchase from the manufacturer

  • if the handle is in the closed position, and the window cannot be closed, then the mechanism has been blocked. The design includes a special lock designed to ensure that the handle cannot be turned in the open position. To unlock, press the lock located at the end of the sash, and then close the canvas and turn the handle;

    Blockers from different manufacturers differ in appearance, but have a single principle of operation.

  • difficult turning of the handle is often due to insufficient lubrication of the mechanism. To fix the problem, you need to remove the decorative panel, unscrew the screws and slightly pull out the mechanism, which is then applied with an aerosol or machine lubricant, and the excess is removed with a napkin.

    After lubrication, the handle is installed in place

Adjustment of plastic balcony doors

Despite the fact that the designs of the window sash and the door are similar, the mechanism setting has slight differences. Position correction can be carried out vertically, in which the height of the web placement relative to the opening changes. The horizontal adjustment allows you to correct the gap between the sash and the hinges, and with the help of the front adjustment, you can set the optimal clamping of the leaf to the frame.

The implementation of these options for adjusting the mechanism involves the following actions:

  • for horizontal adjustment, remove the decorative trim from the hinges, install a 3 mm hex key in the adjusting screw and turn it clockwise 1 or 2 times. This is done for each of the loops;

    Loops are adjusted with a 3 mm hexagon

  • the vertical screw allows you to slightly move the blade up (you need to turn the element clockwise) and down (counterclockwise). This option is optimal if the lower leaf of the balcony door rubs against the threshold during movement, and also if defects occur on the upper or lower rubber seals during normal closing. To work, you need a 5 mm hex wrench. A similar 2.5mm Allen key, as well as a flathead screwdriver, are needed to correct the placement of the bottom and top battens of the opening. And with a Phillips screwdriver, the main overlays are adjusted;

    Setting up a PVC balcony door is carried out according to the principle of window adjustment

  • if frontal correction of the leaf is required, then for this it is necessary to follow the technology of pressing the door to the frame, since these measures provide an equal effect.

    After adjusting the door, there should be no drafts

Rules for the care of PVC doors and windows

Plastic structures are unpretentious in operation, but still require simple maintenance rules. One of them is that the mechanisms of the systems require regular lubrication. For this purpose, machine oil or WD40 aerosol is used, which is applied in a small amount to the mechanism.

Additional features of care and operation are expressed as follows:

  • glass should be washed with special products and soft napkins. On sale there are kits for the complete return of plastic doors or windows, which include all the necessary compositions;
  • the ingress of foreign objects into the space of the frame is unacceptable, as it leads to breakdowns that cannot be eliminated on their own;
  • it is impossible to rub the PVC surfaces of the systems with hard sponges, because this causes scratches and the appearance of the structure is lost;
  • after installation, it is best to install slopes that will ensure tightness and prevent damage to the mounting foam used to seal gaps;
  • complete replacement of double-glazed windows, sashes, window sills and other parts is carried out only by professional craftsmen, and the elements must be ordered from the manufacturer.

Proper operation significantly extends the life of PVC windows and doors.

During operation, do not place hot, sharp, heavy objects on the windowsill. The window or door is designed to provide comfort, is complete and does not require additional treatment with silicone sealant and other similar products. Sheathing, painting and other activities are unacceptable for these systems.

Adjustment of PVC doors and windows is carried out in case of problems that you can fix yourself. Compliance with the technology of work and accuracy when setting up will ensure a long service life of the structures. It also makes it possible to preserve the characteristics and functionality of the systems, i.e. tightness and good sound insulation, which is important for many rooms.

A qualitatively new level of comfort in our home is considered to be metal-plastic windows made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

When installing such structures, you will need the help of a professional, but how to adjust plastic devices on your own during everyday use is given below in the recommendations.

Having replaced traditional old wooden windows with modern ones, it is necessary to periodically inspect the operation of opening and closing mechanisms, the condition and functioning of fittings, which will increase their durability and functionality.

Tools and places for adjusting plastic window fittings

We recommend that adjustment of serious breakdowns and malfunctions be carried out by specialists of the company Windows Expert ()

The most common malfunctions that can be dealt with without the help of a specialist:

  • When closing the transom touches the frame from below or from the side.
  • Insufficiently tight fit to the transom frame.
  • The strikers are worn out.
  • When the sash is open in the “closed” mode, the window frame does not open due to the blocking of the handle.
  • The handle, loosened, does not fit snugly against the frame or turns very tightly.

You can troubleshoot using the tool:

  • pliers or pliers;
  • hex key (size 4 mm);
  • flat and curly (phillips) screwdrivers;
  • a set of "star keys" for adjusting the clamping force;
  • scissors for cutting the seal;
  • oiler for lubricating fittings.

Basic rules for customizing PVC windows with your own hands

In modern metal-plastic windows, in order to achieve optimal pressing of the seal around the entire perimeter of the sash, adjustment is carried out in three projections.

Individual elements, transom hardware settings and tools may differ, but the instructions below are taken as a basis.

Summer and winter adjustment mode

A distinctive feature of modern PVC window fittings is the possibility of its transfer to the "winter" or "summer" modes.

Window fittings are:

  • budgetary;
  • standard;
  • specialized.

Due to the low price, budget-type accessories have limited functionality. It is produced mainly by domestic manufacturers and is used in new buildings. In such metal fittings there is no function of transferring in different seasons, it allows the transom only to close and open.

Adjusting PVC windows with your own hands is possible only after studying the basics of their design, the principles of operation of the internal mechanical system, and subject to knowledge of the rules of this technological process.

PVC windows have gained a very wide popularity, as they are easy to operate, unpretentious in maintenance, they create comfortable conditions for silence and warmth in a house or apartment. They do not require painting or the use of putty or putty, but minimal care is still required.

Windows will last longer if they are on time, and if necessary, also carry out preventive adjustments of their individual elements. To be able to independently cope with all maintenance or minor repairs, you need to know the procedure for performing some manipulations and have the tools necessary for this.

Tools for the job

You need to start the adjustment process with the preparation of the necessary tools. Standard set for these events:

A simple hex key is the main tool for adjusting
  1. Allen key, 4 mm in size. The easiest way, if it is not in your home arsenal, is to purchase such a key in a furniture fittings store: it costs pennies, but there are a lot of benefits from it.
  2. Screwdriver with a set of bits. Most often, in the adjustment process, cruciform types of nozzle bits marked TX and T are used.
  3. For some window sections, a simple curly screwdriver is suitable, having a size of 3-4 mm;
  4. For lubrication, you will need a special WD-40 spray or regular machine oil, which is used for sewing machines.
  5. Pliers.

The main regulating tool is still a hexagon, which is mainly used to assemble furniture, which is why the name “furniture” has been assigned to it. Cross bits on a screwdriver and the same type of screwdriver are useful for working with bolts that fasten almost all fittings to the profile. When adjusting the sliding window options, the adjustment is made distances of roller carriages, which are fasteners for the movable sash.

Pliers will be needed as an auxiliary tool for the need to disassemble some parts.

Adjustment of mechanisms

Adjustment of fittings is required mainly in some nodes that have moving elements, in which malfunctions or breakdowns sometimes appear. It is better to entrust the replacement of hardware parts to qualified craftsmen, and you can try to solve minor problems yourself. Spare parts for the window system can be purchased from the same manufacturers that assemble the double-glazed windows themselves.

To solve specific problems, it is worth considering various problems that arise during the operation of PVC windows, as well as preventive measures that will help to operate the system longer. The most frequently encountered problems include the following:

  1. The appearance of subsidence of doors and windows.
  2. Difficulty in the movement of door or window sashes.
  3. Broken tightness (the appearance of cracks) of a double-glazed window with a closed sash.
  4. Difficulties when moving a window from one mode to another.
  5. The need to replace individual elements of fittings when they are heavily worn or damaged.
  6. Loose door or window handles.
  7. Jamming handles in any position.
  8. The need to replace one handle with another, for example, with a fuse or a built-in lock. This option is set for security purposes, if there are small children among the residents of the house (apartment).

The basic points for adjusting the system of window mechanisms are:

- sashes horizontally;

- sashes vertically;

- window sash clamp;

— lower corner of the window horizontally;

By turning this screw, the bottom corner of the sash can be pushed more or further away from or towards the frame.

By moving the key installed in the desired node, depending on which direction it turns, the sash will gradually move.

Video - Adjusting the top hinge of a plastic window

By moving the sash, turning the key in one or half turn of the screw, you need to close and open the window frame each time, checking its operation. If necessary, turn the screw back a little. It is recommended to shift it gradually by one or two millimeters so as not to accidentally spoil one of the system mechanisms.

In addition, the fasteners, which are held on bolts with cross-shaped slots, are also subject to adjustment. Therefore, for this process, you will need an appropriate screwdriver, which is sometimes used in conjunction with a hexagon. Tools will help tighten or loosen, slightly move one of the elements. So, for example, in this way they regulate:

  • Pins, the shift of which will help to strengthen or weaken the sash clamping force. This process is carried out by switching the double-glazed window to winter or summer mode.

Adjusting or replacing handles

Adjustment or reinstallation of the handle may be required in different situations that can occur during operation of even the highest quality ones.

1. For example, a handle on a door or window may become loose over time, and if this problem is not solved immediately, it may jam, and then it will be even more difficult to figure it out. Moreover, this problem at the initial stage is solved quite easily - it can be called the simplest operation of all adjustment work.

To eliminate this drawback, you will need a Phillips screwdriver, which tightens the fasteners. Any handle on double-glazed windows is installed on the masonry, which has a plastic top cover, under which the fixing bolts are hidden. To get to them, the cover is rotated 90 degrees, and then the bolts are tightened using a Phillips screwdriver. The cover rotates quite easily, so do not pry it with a screwdriver or other sharp tool. This may cause damage to the plastic frame or the lid itself, making it difficult to close or open later.

2. Another case that will require intervention in the mechanism of the double-glazed window is the replacement of the handle with a more advanced model that has a fuse.

Such a precautionary measure is necessary if a small child lives in the apartment, who can easily open a regular double-glazed window handle. This is extremely dangerous if the apartment is located above the first floor. The protective mechanism installed on the handle will not allow this.

It is also quite simple to carry out the process of reinstalling this element. As in the first situation, the top cover turns on the masonry, opening the fasteners. Then the bolts are unscrewed, the handle swings slightly from side to side and is removed.

Then, a new handle with a fuse is installed. It is important to install it in the same position as the previous one was installed. The handle is fixed on the bolts, the system is tested for performance. At the end of the work, the decorative cover is put in place.

3. Another one quite common situation when the knob is difficult to turn, or does not reach the desired level when turning it.

Solving this problem is a more difficult task, since this situation has several causes.

  • Perhaps the rotary mechanism of the handle requires cleaning and lubrication if the window has been in operation for more than one year.
  • It may be that the clamping mechanism is set in an uncomfortable position or is too tight, in which case it should be loosened. In this case, the processes that were already mentioned above are applied - the trunnions are adjusted, and the frame adjustment bolts are adjusted on the spring hinges.

4. It also happens that the window cannot be opened due to the fact that the handle is jammed in one position. There is also a way out of this situation. The reason for this phenomenon is the incorrect operation or failure of the lock, which makes it impossible to change the position of the handle in the open position of the window. In order to correct the situation, you need to manually move the lock lever, and the handle will still turn freely.

The lever is located on the accessible end side of the sash and is a metal plate, which in the open state of the window is retracted at a certain angle from the sealing gum and attached to the end in such a way that it can move.

When carrying out this manipulation, you do not need to unscrew the bolts and remove the handle.

Lubrication of PVC window mechanisms

Not many people know that some unpleasant situations that lead to the need for adjustment arise due to the fact that the moving parts and window mechanisms inside the frame were not lubricated in time.

If PVC windows are used for several years, especially if they are installed in houses located near roads with heavy traffic, then the mechanisms become clogged with dust, which, when mixed with grease, turns into dirt. This substance not only makes it difficult for the doors to move smoothly when they are opened, but also for turning the handle. Such a “paste” has a pronounced abrasive effect, which means that the rubbing mechanisms wear out quickly, begin to creak, and then may generally become unusable. In addition, rubber seals that ensure tightness deteriorate from dust, and windows lose their positive qualities, which means that they will have to be changed over time.

Therefore, it is necessary to periodically clean the mechanisms and replace the lubricant in them, as well as the processing of rubber seals so that they do not lose their elasticity. Such processing of all necessary nodes is carried out at least once a year, but it is better to carry them out immediately after the end of winter, and also before the onset of cold weather.

For preventive measures, you can use technical oils that are used to lubricate moving mechanisms. For example, machine oil used for sewing machines may well be suitable. In addition, a silicone-based lubricant is sometimes used. Also on sale are special products designed for processing rubber seals and lubricating moving mechanisms. They are produced in plastic bottles with nozzles convenient for lubrication, as well as in cylinders.

The processing process includes the following technological steps:

  • All window sashes are opened and inspected.
  • Then all visible fittings are wiped with a soft cloth, as fresh grease must be applied to a dry and cleaned surface. To clean inaccessible fabric patches, brushes or a sponge are used.
  • The next step is to apply lubricants to the fasteners, latches, bolts, as well as the rotary mechanism of the handle.

  • It is recommended to use a product produced in cylinders for lubrication, since with the help of spraying, the lubricant can penetrate into the most inaccessible corners of the mechanisms.
  • If formulations from vials are used for lubrication, then it is necessary to apply 2-4 drops to each part, and then let the mechanism work, closing and opening the doors, as well as turning the handle to different positions.
  • Rubber seals are treated with a compound specially designed for rubber, which will keep it in an elastic state, preventing it from drying out.
  • Do not use for preventive maintenance oils that are not intended for the maintenance of mechanisms, for example, vegetable or cosmetic.
  • It is very important to carry out all lubrication procedures at the same time this moment will enhance the overall preventive effect.

If you do not forget to carry out lubrication work on time, then all elements of double-glazed windows will serve uninterruptedly for quite a long time.

The mechanisms in PVC windows of all companies are almost identical, therefore, the adjustment is carried out for the most part in the same way. The manufacturer on its website usually gives a description of its products and instructions for its operation. Therefore, this information can always be consulted in case of any difficulties.

Having prepared the tools and compositions for lubrication, you can proceed to the work that needs to be done without haste, thoroughly understanding the design. If you approach the process responsibly, then it is quite possible to carry it out on your own, and it will not take much time.

Video - Measures to prepare a PVC window for winter

A plastic window, even the highest quality and correctly installed, requires periodic maintenance. It can stand for several years without any problems, but over time, friction can be felt when opening or closing. The second problem is that it blows from under the seal, and the third is that the handle turns with effort. All these breakdowns are not complicated and are easily eliminated and it is not at all necessary to call the master: adjusting plastic windows on your own is a matter of minutes. All you need to do is tighten or loosen a few screws. The main thing is to know where and how. More on this later in photo and video format.

Winter and summer mode

Most often, adjustment of plastic windows for the new season is required: in winter, complete tightness is desirable, and in summer you can let in some fresh air. This is achieved by adjusting the sash pressure density. It's easy to do it yourself. When you figure it out, you will be surprised how elementary everything is ...

The window sash is pressed against the frame with the help of trunnions. These are such movable metal protrusions on the side surface of the sash. When the handle is turned, they go behind the reciprocal metal plates mounted on the frame. In order to be able to adjust the tightness of the fit of the sash and frame, they have an eccentric - either they themselves are made oval, or in the center of the round protrusion there is an adjustment with an offset center. By changing the position of the pins (see photo), you change the degree of pressure, that is, you eliminate the draft from under the sash.

As you can see, the shapes of the locking ledges can be different. Various tools can be used to adjust them. If your window has such eccentrics as in the picture on the left - oval-shaped protrusions - their position is changed with the help of pliers: clamp it and turn it in the right direction.

If the locking lug is round, as shown on the left, it can be slotted for a screwdriver or hex wrench. After examining them, you can easily understand what tool you need: a regular screwdriver or a #4 hex key. Insert a key or screwdriver into the slot and also turn it to the desired position.

Expose all the protrusions to the same position. Please note that they are not only on one side of the sash - the outer one, but also on the inside (at least one, but there is), and can also be at the top and bottom. Here you set all the available locking protrusions to the same position, otherwise the frame will warp and it will blow out from under it.

When adjusting the fittings of plastic windows, remember that a weak pressure corresponds to the summer mode of closing plastic windows, a standard or strong one corresponds to the winter one. If you carry out maintenance work in the winter, first set the standard position and check if there is a purge. It is not recommended to immediately pinch the rubber bands on new PVC windows. In this position, the rubber seal installed around the perimeter is strongly pressed. Because of this, it loses its elasticity over time. The guarantee for a normal seal is 15 years, but still ... If you immediately set the maximum pressure, the rubber will deteriorate faster. As a result, once again setting the winter position on plastic windows, you will find that it is still blowing from under the sash, and the rubber is all cracked. This means it's time to change the seal. This is also not very difficult, but it takes more time, and tires still need to be bought.

So: the winter and summer position of plastic windows is set by changing the position of the locking ledges - trunnions. Everything is detailed in the video below. After viewing, adjusting plastic windows on your own will finally cease to be a problem.

How to adjust the window so that it does not blow

Sometimes, plastic windows, even after moving the trunnions to the position of strong pressure, are not airtight - it blows from under the sash and replacing the rubber band does nothing. This usually happens when the house shrinks. In this case, the window is said to be sagging. When this happens, contact between the locking lug and striker plate is lost. When the handle is turned, the protrusion-pin should go behind the plate, pressing the sash. If this does not happen and drafts occur, heat is blown out of the room.

Where are the trunnions (clamping lugs) usually located?

When a plastic window sags, the adjustment is different: you need to move the sash in a groan so that those protrusions that do not reach the plates catch on them.

First you need to decide which of the pins do not reach the locking plates. This is done mechanically. First, inspect the sash, remember where there are protrusions. Close the window. Grab the sash frame at the pins and pull it towards you.

If there is contact, the frame remains stationary; if not, it moves. So you check in which places there is no contact and determine in which direction you need to move the sash. Do this by adjusting the lower and upper loops.

Bottom hinge adjustment

If the PVC window does not close somewhere below, we will move the sash with the help of the lower hinge. There are two adjustments here: one in the horizontal plane - moves closer to the hinge or further from it, and the second - in the vertical one - raises or lowers the sash by a couple of millimeters.

To move the lower part of the sash closer or further to the hinge, it is opened. At the bottom of the sing there is an adjustment hole for a hex key (sometimes for an “asterisk”).

A hexagon is inserted into it, by turning clockwise the lower corner approaches the loop, against it it moves away. Move the sash a little, try to close / open it. Once the result is achieved, stop. If the resource is turned out to the stop, but there is no result, return everything to its original position: this is not the right adjustment.

This screw can correct the situation if, when closing the window, the sash touches the frame below. Slightly bringing it closer to the loop, you will eliminate this malfunction.

There is a second adjusting screw on the bottom hinge. To get to it, you need to put the sash on the air and remove the decorative trim. It is removed easily, you need to pull the lower edge slightly towards you (by 1-2 mm) and pull it up. After removing the protective cap, you will see a recess in the upper part. A 4 mm hexagon is inserted into it. By turning clockwise, the sash rises slightly, against it, it lowers.

It is described in detail how to remove the decorative trim on the hinge, how and how to adjust the lower hinge on the PVC window in the next video.

Top hinge adjustment

If the upper corner on the plastic window does not close, you need to move it. To do this, open the window at least 90 °. It is possible and less, but it will be inconvenient to work. There is a loop on the sash at the top. By design, it differs from the bottom, but it also has a hole for the hexagon.

The adjustment screw is on the side. By rotating it, we move the sash further from the hinge (if the trunnions farthest from the hinge do not close) or closer to the hinge. One point - there should be a gap of several millimeters between the sash and the hinge: it is necessary for the tilt-and-turn mechanism to enter there. Therefore, turning the key half a turn, check how the window opens / closes.

Sometimes this adjustment does not help either. Then it is required press the top corner to the frame. There is another screw for this - on the swing-out mechanism. To have access to this screw, you will have to open the window in two positions at once. To do this, the sash is opened, the blocker is pressed. It usually comes in two designs - in the form of a locking loop or a tongue (see the photo below).

The blocker is retracted to the stop, holding it, turn the handle to ventilate, pulling the upper edge of the sash slightly towards you, open the rotary mechanism. A device that holds the sash open. On one of the plates there is a ledge for the same hex key. By turning it, you can adjust the tightness of the upper corner of the sash. It is necessary if the upper corner of the plastic window does not close.

Once again, you can see how to adjust the plastic windows yourself in the video. Explanations on the case, available and without further ado.

Plastic window won't close

Sometimes the geometry of the window opening changes so much that even by moving the sash to the maximum, we do not get the desired result: the plastic window does not close. What to do in this case? If there is an adjustment on the counterpart, as in option a and b in the photo, try to get by with a little blood - tighten it up here. The principle is the same: insert the hex key and rotate it clockwise, pushing it to the maximum.

If a few millimeters are missing not in depth, but to the side, then will have to be installed under the mating part of the lining. They are cut from a piece of white plastic. The maximum thickness is 3-4 mm. First, by unscrewing the screws, the stops are removed. Two gaskets are cut out: one is installed from below, the second is from the side. As a result, the stop moves 3 mm deeper into the sash.

They are first installed at the right place of the lining, on them there is an emphasis, which is screwed with a self-tapping screw. The protruding pieces of plastic are cut off with a sharp knife. Check if the window is closed or not.

If this does not help, there is another way: move the sash frame. It is quite elastic and can be moved about 5 mm. The procedure is as follows:

If you look closely, you can see that the frame is slightly curved. The main thing is that the window is now closed. In 99% of cases this is enough. If you are unlucky, and all these tricks did not work, you need to remove the slopes and also bend the frame.

You can watch all the steps described above in the video.

Adjustment and replacement of handles

A fairly common problem: the handle turns with difficulty. If the problem is not fixed in time, due to the excessive efforts applied, it breaks down, leaving a short stump, which you definitely can’t do anything about.

First, how to make the handle close easily again. Locking mechanisms must first be cleaned and lubricated. First, accumulated dust and dirt are removed, wiped dry, then all moving parts are lubricated. You need to use pure oils, without alkalis and acids. The best option is engine oil, you can use any analogue or a modern product from a can.

Having lubricated all the rubbing and moving parts, open / close the sash several times, turn it on its hinges. Everything should move smoothly, without jerks.

If there are problems even now, most likely in the process of adjustments or changes in the geometry of the window, the blocker has shifted. It should easily enter the mating part and press firmly against the frame. Then the handle turns easily. Move the sash and try again.

Now about how to change the handle. The fasteners on which it rests are hidden under a decorative overlay. If you look closely, you will see that there is a thin cap. Grab it with your fingers or hook it with your nails, pull it slightly towards you and turn it to one side. Two bolts open. They are unscrewed, the handle is removed, a new one is put in its place.

We've covered the most common problems and how to fix them. Now, not only adjusting plastic windows is not a problem for you, you can also make minor repairs on your own. You can also carry out service yourself (lubrication once a year).

Buying and installing even the most expensive double-glazed windows is only half the battle. In order for the purchase to properly carry the functions assigned to it, you need to know how to fix plastic windows. Do it yourself or call the master - everyone needs to decide individually. If the warranty period has not expired, then it would be logical to call a specialist from the company where the PVC windows were purchased. And if the warranty has expired a long time ago, then you can try adjust your windows. This is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

Almost all modern PVC windows adjustable in three planes, thanks to which it is not difficult to set the frame strictly according to the level. Before starting work, be sure to read the instructions for your model - despite the general principles and sequence of actions, which tool is needed.

How to adjust plastic window hinges

Typical PVC windows rarely have a window - such a model is considered non-standard and leads to an increase in the cost of the final product due to more waste. Ventilation is carried out by turning the handle in the upper position, and a special loop is responsible for the latter. If a plastic window doesn't close well, then you need to start with them.

The upper hinge breaks off usually if the window was opened incorrectly or abruptly. Poor fit does not close tightly and leads to blowing. To eliminate this, press the sash against the frame and make several opening and closing movements, stopping in the “closed” position.

If uncharacteristic clicks are noticed when opening and closing, then this means that the side and bottom hinges have weakened and began to touch the frame. This often happens in old houses - the building is crumbling, which, first of all, is reflected in the windows. Open the window, find the hinges, and they contain special hexagons. Using a 4mm wrench, adjust the position of the leaves by loosening and tightening the screws alternately. The thread there is right-handed, twist - clockwise, unscrew - against. This method eliminates bevels by shifting the frame.

How to adjust the pressure of a plastic window

Weak pressure - the cause of drafts, and overtightened - leads to wear of the seal. Bring a lighter or a piece of paper (small and thin paper) to the edge of the plastic window. If there are fluctuations, then it is urgent to adjust it - remove the gap.
This is done with the help of special eccentrics located with a certain step around the entire perimeter. They also set the "winter", "summer" and "universal" position of the clamp. When the handle is turned, they "hide" behind the pressure pads, thereby providing the desired tension.

Counterclockwise is loosening, clockwise is tightening. Pay attention to the special risk - she did not do it for a screwdriver at all. Its turn to the window is a summer option, into the room - a winter one, up (or down) - universal (medium degree of pressure). Experimentally with a hex wrench, find the desired tension. But don't go for the super-strong fit, this can lead to the fact that the seal may break, especially if the window is not new (and you will have to partially or completely replace the seal).

Handle and closing adjustment

The plastic window does not close well - how to adjust? First, never use physical force - you will only break it completely. Secondly - pull back the plastic and inspect the locking assembly. Perhaps it will be "cured" by the usual cleaning of dust and dirt. The third reason is blocker. This is such a movable metal "tongue" (there is in the photo in the first part of the article). Open the window, press it with your hand and turn the handle. If the handle turns freely, and when the window is closed, the handle is turned tightly, you need to adjust the blocker. Adjust it so that it freely reaches the "answer" (adjacent window).

How to adjust a plastic window so that it does not blow

"How to adjust a plastic window so that it does not blow"- this is the question tenants ask themselves when they find "an unauthorized influx of cold air." Here you need to understand what is its primary cause.

It can blow (through) from a plastic window for several reasons:

  • window sill and slopes. Depreciation of uninsulated polyurethane foam occurs in 5-10 years. In this case, it is necessary to re-foam the "siphon" structures;
  • loops. The main reason is the cavities in the mounting holes, they must be sealed (you can use ordinary silicone sealant);
  • bad clamp. It is regulated by special eccentrics (the instructions for adjusting the eccentrics were higher). On some models, they are automatically moved to the desired position (when you close the window), but on most it must be done manually by moving the risk closer to the street;
  • passes around the perimeter of the window: partially or everywhere. Worn seal. This is such a small black sealing gum glued around the perimeter of the window. The old one is removed and the new one is installed. Just do not need to stretch it - under the influence of temperature, this is done automatically.
