How to make a street toilet with your own hands drawings. Do-it-yourself country toilet - step by step instructions with video tutorials and drawings. Drawings of country toilets of the "hut" type

We all love comfort in everyday life, but we rarely get it just like that, without any effort. Someone pays “specialists” for repairs in their home, often getting a carelessly done job, while someone prefers to do everything with their own hands, which, without a proper approach, can also lead to problems.

At the same time, any path involves significant financial costs, and therefore the initially correctly chosen approach not only saves your nerves in the future, but also saves the family budget.

And if at the moment, most apartments are already equipped with all the necessary amenities, then things are often somewhat worse at summer cottages, often people who come from the city to their dacha experience a number of inconveniences, and one of the most noticeable is the lack of a toilet.

In this article, I would like to tell you how, using relatively cheap materials, you can make a toilet in the country with your own hands. He will delve into the intricacies of this process, explain all the nuances and difficulties, because a do-it-yourself toilet in the country, the photo of which you will see in the article, is not at all a luxury, but a necessity.

So, how to build a toilet in the country with your own hands?

First of all, you need to know about this process that the construction of such a structure in our time is more expensive than before, unfortunately, it is not even connected with the trend of fashion, but with new sanitary requirements, which strongly indicate the need to preserve an environmentally friendly environment.

At the same time, the issue of disposal of accumulated waste products is acute, because the need to regularly clean them from a simple toilet in the country can turn the life of any person into a nightmare. This problem will be solved by modern technologies, which have now become much cheaper and more accessible, which allows most people to use them on their plots.

Finally, here again the desire to create the most comfortable conditions for existence intervenes, few people will now be satisfied with a small rickety booth with a hole in the floor, which is quite understandable, because such structures do not improve summer vacation at all, and besides, they spoil the view of the site as a whole.

In this regard, it becomes clear that the ideal toilet for a summer residence should be safe for the environment, convenient in terms of waste disposal, comfortable to use and fit beautifully in a summer cottage.

After defining the main task, it is necessary to solve a number of other important issues:

1. Based on local conditions, determine how wastewater will be discharged, where it will be discharged, how it will be disposed of.

2. Find a suitable place in your summer cottage to install a toilet.

3. Make a choice of the preferred design solution - it can be a booth or a cabin.

4. Find a decorative design that would optimally match the complexity of construction and appearance.

5. Determine the necessary for all expenses.

All these issues are largely interconnected, so they need to be addressed in a comprehensive manner, thinking about how to make a toilet in the country with your own hands. At the same time, when building a booth, you can afford more freedom, since only the appearance and convenience depend on it, and the base is the most complex and expensive element here.

What to build a toilet in the country?

In most cases, it is best to build a wooden toilet for a summer residence, this is due to the cheapness of this material, in addition, wood is very easy to process, it has good heat-resistant characteristics and, with a competent approach, does not cause any harm to a person. With proper processing, it can be weather-resistant and unsuitable for any bacteria or insects to grow on it.

In addition, a lightweight wooden structure allows you to save on the foundation, which in some cases may not be useful at all, because the size of the toilet in the country with your own hands can be small, in which case its cabin can simply be placed on reinforced concrete monoliths or bricks.

To build a simple toilet in the country with your own hands, you need to decide on the types of materials.

For the construction of the frame, an ordinary beam is often used, it is convenient to cover the floor and the toilet seat with a tongue-and-groove board, trimmed or tongue-and-groove boards are suitable for external cladding, and cut and uncut boards are well suited for roof lathing.

In the construction of sheathing, boards made of waterproof plywood or OSB can be effective, which can also be used in creating laths for purlins. A good material can be a grooved board, which, at a slightly higher price, surpasses most other materials in its properties.

For curved sections, it is optimal to use a marine boat board, which, in addition to everything else, will last much longer in an area where precipitation is frequent, however, compared to a sheet pile board, it holds back gusts of wind worse.

Without exception, all wooden elements must be treated first against rot, then from dampness. It is this sequence that is the most correct, in which the boards will serve the longest time.

Those parts of the toilet that will be turned inward (toward the cesspool and the ground) must also be treated with bituminous mastic or hot bitumen.

What kind of toilet to build in the country?

Even if you decide to build a simple toilet in the country with your own hands, you should not forget about the importance of its appearance. There are a number of types of cabins, in the form of a house, a hut, a hut, a birdhouse. In the end, you can always experiment with shapes, do something completely unusual, however, in my article I will focus on the basic options without going into the field of complex design.

So, what is the difference between the listed types of cabins:

1. During the construction of a hut, one must understand that it is strong, constructive, has good resistance to precipitation and wind, does not require large expenditures of materials, however, it requires a lot of space and suffers from a number of inconveniences, primarily from crowding. If you try to make it larger, then the benefit of saving materials disappears. The design itself is primitive, and may not be suitable for some suburban areas.

2. In terms of the complexity of construction, a birdhouse is even simpler than a hut, it does not require large expenditures of materials and takes up minimal space. However, it has a weak design, does not hold temperatures well, and is prone to drafts. Despite the shortcomings, such a design may be optimal if an outdoor toilet is intended for summer cottages.

3. In the construction of a house, you can achieve greater heat resistance and strength than a birdhouse. It also requires a little land and materials, but it is more difficult to install a water tank to it. This design allows you to use a variety of finishes and design elements.

4. The complexity of the construction of the hut is superior to other types of cabins, in addition, it requires more material consumption. At the same time, its faceted shape allows you to create very durable structures that are well protected from adverse climatic conditions. In terms of functionality and ergonomics, this is one of the best options. And the design possibilities are almost endless.

When the view is finally chosen, it is necessary to determine the size of the toilet in the country.

For a birdhouse with a house, the ideal dimensions of the floor and toilet seat are at least 1.2 meters in width and 1.5 meters in depth. In the case of a hut and a hut, the depth can be left at the level of 1.5 meters, and the width can be taken in the region of 0.9 meters.

It is important that there is at least 40 centimeters of distance from the head of the person who entered to the walls. At the same time, several meters can be called the optimal ceiling height. In general, when the question arises of how to build a toilet in the country, it is important to remember that many of its parameters will depend on your preferences. In this regard, the size of the toilet can be adjusted depending on your own height, etc.

Almost all of the types of cabins listed above suffer from a common disadvantage, namely, exposure to gusts of wind if the toilet door is not closed. To combat this, you just need to install the door on the barn hinges. For more durable structures such as a hut, you can use hidden loops.

Where to put the toilet in the country?

You can’t think about how to make a simple toilet in the country without taking into account such important aspects as its location, especially if it involves the presence of a cesspool, the construction of which is prohibited if the groundwater is located above 2.5 meters.

The choice of a construction site should be based on a number of factors, such as the type of soil, the proposed foundation, the distance from the house, etc. All these elements are closely interconnected and require a serious approach, because not only convenience, but also safety for you and the environment depends on this.

There are strict sanitary standards that prohibit the location of structures of this kind at a distance closer than 12 meters from the nearest housing, and the distance from a water source must be at least 20 meters. In addition, it is important to remember about the neighbors, who are unlikely to approve the construction of a toilet right under their fence.

In order to build a toilet for the dacha yourself, you must first decide how far you are willing to walk, in some cases, the distance of the toilet from the house only has a positive effect on the atmosphere of the summer cottage, and the proximity of the house to the cesspool can be quite unpleasant, for example, due to possible odours. At the same time, the location of the toilet should be accessible to the entrance of the sewage truck, because the maximum length of its hose is about 7 meters.

It is good if it is possible to install a toilet in an inconspicuous and secluded place, for example, in a garden, where trees cover it from the general view. It is also important to remember that locating the toilet in a low-lying area can cause the pit latrine to fill up more quickly, since most of the rainfall will fall directly into it. And the location of such a structure at a height can make it prone to strong gusts of wind.

Once the site was definitely needed to decide what type of cesspool is suitable for it.

Varieties of cesspools for a toilet in the country

In order to gradually build a toilet in the country, it is important to choose the right type of cesspool. They differ mainly in the degree of penetration of waste products into the soil, and are divided into sealed pits, as well as pits with a filter bottom.

Sealed pits require more money, due to the more frequent need to clean them. Pits with a filter bottom are cheaper, but they are fraught with environmental pollution, in addition, their use is not allowed in terms of sanitary standards.

There are different types of walls for cesspools, they can be monolithic, brick, plastic, and also consist of concrete rings. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Brick pit latrines aren't cheap, but they're strong enough, they can be built quite deep to reduce the need for frequent cleaning, and they seal fairly well. It is possible to create both a hermetic version and a design with a filtering bottom.

Plastic containers are quite inexpensive, but due to their size they will require more frequent cleaning, when creating a sealed structure, only the upper part is cut off from the container, when creating a filter, the lower part is also cut off, while the bottom is covered with a filter layer.

Structures made of concrete rings cannot be airtight, because they move easily in the ground, their use is permissible only in those places where groundwater is located at a considerable depth. After filling the pit with rings, its bottom is either covered with a concrete screed or a filter layer.

Monolithic concrete pit latrines are well sealed, but due to the nature of the construction, they can be difficult and expensive to make too deep, and therefore, they will often have to be cleaned.

Speaking about cesspools, one would think that the construction of such structures is extremely difficult, below you will see how you can build a toilet in the country, photos, instructions, a description of the process.

Do-it-yourself toilet in the country in stages with a photo

Approaching the question of how to thoroughly make a toilet in the country house yourself, let's take a relatively simple and comfortable design, accompanying its construction with photographs, because in order to build a toilet in the country house with your own hands, drawings are not necessary, it is quite easy to do without them.

The foundation will be concrete pillars, for them we make holes of 130 millimeters by 0.8 meters. We insert pipes inside to the maximum possible depth (for example, old water pipes). After that, we fill everything with a solution using roofing material and sleeves.

The strapping will be a 100 by 100 beam, which we will fasten to the corners.

We cover the floor and the toilet seat with grooved boards. The design for the toilet seat itself is standard, nothing special, you can make it removable.

Racks are made of timber 50 to 50.

We make the roof from planed boards 25 by 120, add flat galvanized sheets to them, bending them along the edges at the back and front, from the sides we close the boards with a galvanized profile.

For walls and a toilet seat, we take 9 millimeters of OSB, varnish them on the inside to reduce the risk of splinters, and the toilet seat is also varnished.

The outer crate is made of a bar 25 by 50, almost any will do, we put siding on top of it.

In the lower part along the perimeter of the structure, you can put some trimmings from corrugated board, this will help create the desired visual effect.

The threshold can be finished with galvanization.

Polycarbonate can be used for the window at the entrance; small gaps can be allowed to create ventilation.

The door is made from an OSB sheet, boards 25 by 120 are applied from below and above, a board is also placed on the outside, space is left for siding, you can fasten the boards with the OSB sheet with simple self-tapping screws. Also, siding is attached to the structure with small screws.

I hope that the description of how to make a toilet for the dacha with your own hands, a step-by-step photo of this process, will inspire someone to new feats in improving life comfort, because it is on such little things that the full enjoyment of a summer vacation depends.

Now you know how to make a toilet in the country, what difficulties it can have and what you need to consider.

Toilet in the country with their own hands. Video of the construction process.

One of the rules of suburban construction says: first of all, a street toilet should appear on the site. If you spend some time in the country, and even build a garden house, then without a latrine you will surely experience a lot of inconvenience. Hence the purpose of this publication: to tell how to build a country toilet with your own hands in the shortest possible time without significant financial investments.

Construction design and installation site

First of all, we indicate the requirements for the future design:

  • it should be cheap and functional at any time of the year;
  • do not pollute groundwater supplying nearby wells;
  • Don't spread bad odor around the area.

The first step to fulfilling these requirements is a good choice of a place for a restroom. As a rule, it is built in the backyard as far as possible from a residential building and natural sources of water supply - wells and wells. The optimal distance to these objects is 30 m, and the minimum is 12 m, which is shown in the diagram.

To keep the cost of installing a toilet to a minimum, you have no choice but to make it from inexpensive materials - wooden boards and beams. Although the option with a steel frame with corrugated sheathing is not ruled out, if there is a suitable rolled metal. Laying out a capital structure of brick on a reinforced concrete foundation is expensive and pointless. In addition, the lightweight structure can be quickly moved or dismantled.

Reference. Previously, village latrines were made in the simplest way: a hole was dug, and a wooden booth with a point in the floor was installed above it. After filling, the building was moved to another place, and the old one was covered with earth. The simplest design of an insulated country toilet is shown in the drawing:

A bathroom with dimensions of 1.2 x 1.5 m and a minimum height of 180 cm is considered convenient; with smaller dimensions, it will become too crowded inside the building. If desired, the design of the outbuilding can be changed to a more original one, for example, make it in the form of a hut or a tower shown in the drawing.

A beautiful appearance to an ordinary toilet will be given by the design of modern materials - siding, block house and metal tiles, as is done in the photo.

More standard and unusual solutions for the yard latrine are shown in the video:

Cesspool device

The underground part of the toilet for waste products is of two types:

  1. A cesspool is a sealed container, periodically cleaned with the help of a cesspool machine;
  2. A septic tank is a pit with a filter pad that allows liquid waste to pass into the ground.

Reference. There are 2 options for toilet buildings erected in suburban areas with a high level of groundwater - backlash-closet and powder-closet. In the first case, the structure rises above the ground in order to install a special storage tank under it, in the second, a small container is mounted directly into the toilet seat.

Backlash closet with overhead tank

If you are ready to call a special vehicle once every 3-5 years to clean the cesspool, then adopt the first type of underground part. It is quite simple to arrange it: you need to dig one or more barrels into the ground, preferably plastic ones, since the metal will quickly rust. Another option is to put a ready-made plastic tank with a separate hatch. How to equip a cesspool with ventilation in a toilet for a summer residence is shown in the diagram:

The ventilation pipe serves to directly remove excess moisture and odors to the outside, so that they do not penetrate into the toilet. Thanks to the hood, the room will be dry, and the wooden walls will last longer.

Now about how to properly build a drain septic tank for a country toilet. For manufacturing, use old truck tires of the same size, this is the cheapest and most proven option. Construction is carried out according to the following plan:

  1. Dig a round hole 1.5-2 m deep, whose diameter is 5 cm larger than the dimensions of the tires.
  2. Without tamping, fill its bottom alternately with sand, fine gravel and coarse gravel, the thickness of each layer is 10 cm. You will receive a filter pad.
  3. To prevent liquid waste from accumulating inside the tires, spreading odor, make 3-4 through holes in the sidewalls.
  4. Lay the slopes in the hole one on top of the other, at the same time adding and compacting the soil around the edges. The septic is ready.

In more detail and clearly the arrangement process is shown in the following video:

Building a wooden toilet

Since the wooden structure is lightweight, it does not require a solid foundation in the form of a slab or reinforced concrete tape. The main task of the foundation is to isolate the structure from the ground and prevent it from tipping over from gusts of wind. And for this, it is enough to mark and level the site, and then install 4 columns of blocks dug into the ground and brought out in one plane, which is done in the photo.

After leveling the columnar base, 2 layers of roofing material (waterproofing) are laid on top of the blocks and the installation of the frame begins. Step by step construction technology looks like this:

  1. Bind the foundation posts with a beam of 100 x 50 mm, connecting the beams together into half a tree. Attach them to the blocks with anchor bolts.
  2. Nail a 60 x 40 mm timber around the perimeter of the strapping, then install 4 vertical posts from the same material. Moreover, the front ones should be 15-20 cm higher than the rear ones to ensure the slope of the roof. Fix the supports with steel corners and self-tapping screws.
  3. Maintaining the vertical, connect the ends of the racks with roof crossbars protruding 10 cm beyond the dimensions of the toilet. Place additional jumpers at a height of 0.9-1 m, and then mount the stiffeners (slopes) from the same timber.
  4. Lay the floor from boards 3-4 cm thick, having previously cut a point in the middle.
  5. Connect the overhangs of the roofing beams with jumpers, lay a sheet of roofing material on top and lay a roofing covering of profiled sheet, metal tile or slate.
  6. On the front facade, mount an additional rack and hang the door on it. The latter is knocked together from improvised timber. Now it remains to sheathe the walls with clapboard or ordinary boards.

Advice. If you plan to somehow paint the building, then all wooden elements must be treated with an antiseptic. Otherwise, it is enough to cover them with used oil, which protects the wood well from decay.

In the same order, a frame of metal shaped pipes is welded or bolted, which is subsequently sheathed with corrugated board or flat slate. Instead of a traditional and not very comfortable toilet seat, we recommend purchasing and installing a country toilet. It differs from the usual one in the absence of a water seal, which will freeze in winter.

If necessary, the toilet in the country house can be supplemented with an adjacent cabin for a summer shower. It will be necessary to expand the structure a little, and put a beam with a section of 100 x 100 mm on the strapping. To build a partition between the booths, you need to install an additional beam, as shown in the photo.

Available about the construction of the toilet is described in the next video:

How to clean the restroom

Cleaning outdoor toilets can sometimes be a major problem. The specificity is that the contents of the pit have a thick consistency, because liquid waste from the kitchen or bathroom does not drain there. Even in the cesspool, the masses become caked, thicken even more over the years, and upon the arrival of the sewage truck, they have to be diluted with water in order to pump them out.

In septic tanks, where waste products are retained by the filter pad, it is recommended to process them using modern bacterial agents. They are sold in the form of tablets or powders, and in addition to bacteria contain peat and other additives that suppress unpleasant odors. It is better to use such compositions from the first day of using the toilet, and not wait until it is filled to the top with non-removable slurry.

Reference. One of the options for a quickly cleaned restroom is an autonomous dry closet, consisting of 2 compartments - receiving and processing. The first is an ordinary toilet seat, and the second is a vessel with water, where chemically active additives or bacteria are dissolved.

Conclusion

In the vast majority of cases, the toilet in the country is the simplest structure, although quite necessary. For its construction, there is no need to start a grandiose construction using reinforced concrete foundations and capital walls. Practice shows that it is hot in a brick latrine in summer and as cold in winter as in a wooden one, but the manufacturing cost is significantly different. In addition, a toilet room made of wood is quickly and inexpensively insulated from the outside with 50 mm thick foam.

A toilet in the country is an integral part of comfort, a full existence. When purchasing an absolutely clean piece of land, the first thing we install is this structure. This is not only natural, but even necessary. The construction of this building does not require any special projects. Anyone who is at least a little friendly with carpentry tools can build a country toilet with their own hands. Let's take a closer look at this process step by step. Now there are many modern alternatives to a stationary structure, we will also talk about some of them below.

In the country, you can do without a lot of convenient, important structures: a shed, a pool, a cellar, a barbecue oven, but without a toilet - nothing.

There are many factors to consider when getting started. The most important thing is sanitary and hygienic standards. Your toilet should not create inconvenience to the neighbors, so the location of the building, the competent arrangement of the cesspool, ventilation should be worked out during the design.

Country toilet, photo:

The equipment of the cesspool, the method of its cleaning is also an important nuance, which directly depends on the flow of groundwater. If groundwater is high, then you will have to look for alternative options, since a hole cannot be made. With a low passage of groundwater, the pit must be exceptionally tight.

Country toilet - design options

The simplest, most common option is a wooden restroom. Even a beginner can build it, it will come out inexpensive in terms of the cost of building materials. If desired, this design can be easily transferred. For sheathing the frame, a board, lining, chipboard sheets are used, with imagination, sometimes quite nice options are obtained. The simplest, cheapest option is a closet made of plank boards.

Decoration, photo:

A more solid structure of metal sheets is built in two ways.

The first option - the same wooden frame is sheathed with sheets, in the second - the base of the frame is made of metal pipes, to which sheets of iron or slate are subsequently attached. The shaded part of the site is the best place for such a toilet, since in the summer the sun will heat the metal, causing you discomfort when visiting. From the inside, such a building can be sheathed with polystyrene foam or polystyrene foam.

A stationary brick building will require more time to build, as well as the availability of building skills from the developer. Here you need to think in detail about ways to clean the cesspool, the possibility of convenient access (for example, a sewage truck) to the building.

The country toilet of the Luft-closet type does not have significant differences from the stationary version, the whole feature is the design of the cesspool. At the same time, its walls and bottom must be sealed, and it must have an elongated shape.

This feature will improve the optimization of the waste disposal process, more convenient installation of sewage hoses. A significant "minus" of the Luft-closet latrines is the impossibility of using them during the winter.

The peat dacha toilet belongs to alternative options for closets. At the same time, the waste is immediately sprinkled with peat, and when the sewer tank is full, it is removed and the processed contents are removed. More details about the operational functions of peat toilets will be written below.

Requirements for the construction of a country toilet

There are many nuances associated with the construction of the restroom, it is necessary to take into account the direction of the winds, the possibility of unimpeded access of the sewage truck to the building, the distance from the cesspool to the point with water (no more than 25 meters). If other buildings are located nearby, the distance from them to the toilet should be at least 5 meters. Often closets are installed at a distance. But so that there is at least 1 meter to the border of the neighbor's fence. Make sure that when you open the toilet door, the neighbors can not see anything.

A country toilet with a cesspool is a solid structure that should be relatively spacious. The most common, convenient building options are the "birdhouse" and "hut". If you want to have a place to turn around, the "birdhouse" type will suit you.

If we consider the building from the point of view of the impact of precipitation, then the type of "hut" wins here.

The entire “attack” of rains and snow will fall on the roof, which at the “hut” reaches almost ground level, while the walls will remain dry.

Both types of buildings allow you to equip a country toilet without a cesspool, placing a removable tank at the base of the building or not far from it, where waste will be collected. It can be a welded metal container, a special bucket, a suitable plastic tank or a wooden tank with peat, tyrsa, sand. The presence of a foundation is preferable for any type of building.

A cesspool is the main element of a country toilet, in order to determine its volume, you should know that with constant use, approximately 50-60 liters should be allocated per person (according to the calculation - 3 months). As mentioned above, it must be airtight so that the sewage does not come into contact with the aquifers of the soil. A well-equipped clay castle (20-30 cm thick) around the pit is an essential requirement when building a country toilet.

We build a toilet in a summer cottage with our own hands

If you are building a toilet for the first time, then take note that it is the wooden structure that is easiest to build. Wood is a relatively inexpensive building material, easy to work with, retains heat well, and is environmentally friendly. Let's look at this option in more detail. To arrange the frame, you will need wooden bars, a section of 40 × 40 (or a little more) is optimal. Choose the cladding material to your liking: lining, a standard board or even a block house will look quite appropriate. The roof can be covered with ondulin, slate, roofing material.

Base, frame of the future toilet, photo:

To build a birdhouse-type restroom, you can use a standard drawing, or you can connect your imagination, develop your own individual version. Typical dimensions of a country toilet: back wall - 2 meters, facade - 2.30 m, the width of the building must be at least 1 meter, the roof is shed, the presence of a cesspool, the base is not less than 1 × 1 m.

Building materials that you will need: full-bodied sand-cement blocks, wooden beams, sand, board, lining (cladding), roofing felt. You will also need a chipped brick, a profiled steel sheet, paint or varnish, a door block, hinges, a handle, latches, nails. For arranging the frame, it is preferable to choose an edged board made of hardwood (for example, larch, beech), stock up on metal corners, self-tapping screws.

The toilet is country, stages of work:

  1. First of all, we proceed to the cesspool, its approximate parameters should be at least 1: 1: 2 m, the dimensions of the cesspool determine the dimensions of the building itself. We cover the bottom of the pit with crushed brick or crushed stone of a large fraction.
  2. Sand-cement blocks (they can be replaced with a concrete curb) will be the foundation. We install them at the corners of the pit - this is the basis of the future frame.
  3. Roofing felt on stele blocks, approximately 4 layers - this is the necessary waterproofing.
  4. The wooden framework consists of 4 bearing supports (vertical). The bars, which are laid lengthwise, should extend beyond the boundaries of the closet body by about 35-40 cm. The protruding part in front is the future visor, the part in the back is the removal of precipitation from the wall of the building. The binding is made at the level of the place where the toilet will be installed. The height of the toilet seat should be comfortable - 40-45 cm from the floor.
  5. For greater frame strength, we install diagonal stiffening braces on the back wall, as well as on the side walls of the closet.
  6. The frame of the door block consists of two vertically mounted supports with a horizontal lintel at the top.
  7. We sheathe the frame with the selected material, lay a board on the floor (at least 4 cm thick).
  8. We cut a hole in the floor of the appropriate size, the shape can be any.
  9. We install a door block with a door, cut out a window if desired.
  10. We cover the roof of the restroom with the selected coating (roofing material, ondulin, slate, etc.).
  11. We cover the structure with paint or varnish.

The device of a country toilet with a cesspool implies a well-equipped ventilation system. It is important that unpleasant odors from the pit do not stagnate, but come out freely. The drain pipe can be made of any material, but its diameter must be at least 10 cm. In the toilet pedestal, as on the roof, holes of the appropriate size should be cut. The upper end of the pipe must rise above the roof of the building by at least 20 cm. The distances between the pipe and the cutout must be carefully sealed, a ventilation deflector should be installed on the upper pipe outlet (it creates draft). Inside, the building can be sheathed with polystyrene foam or any other suitable facing material.

Country toilet - cleaning the cesspool

There is no such person who would feel comfortable inhaling unpleasant odors. A street (country) closet, of course, cannot be a source of pleasant aromas, but advanced biotechnologies successfully cope with this problem. Today, there are special chemicals that not only block unpleasant odors, but process waste into liquid, oxygen, carbon dioxide.

Many summer residents do not have the correct information regarding these chemicals, believing that chemicals can harm the environment and plants. This is not so - high-quality biological products (such as "Vodogray") are absolutely harmless to human health and the environment (confirmed by ISO-9002).

Separately, it is worth mentioning biogranules - a very convenient, necessary invention. Biogranules for pit toilets - the reviews are extremely positive, since their microbiological composition includes enzymes, non-pathological bacteria. Biogranules are harmless to the environment, human and animal health, they were awarded the 2001 international medal "Environmentally Safe Products".

This tool destroys bad odors, decomposes feces, toilet paper, while the waste products are quickly processed, becoming a cloudy, odorless liquid. This liquid can then be fearlessly poured, for example, under a tree or other convenient place. The use of biogranules solves the problem of cleaning, pumping sewage: they not only process the contents of the cesspool, but also reduce its volume at the end of the process.

Before use, water should be poured into the cesspool, and then the preparation should be applied according to the attached instructions. Every 7 days you should add water, add one bag of biogranules (25 g). If the cesspool contains a lot of liquid, then several bags can be poured at once. In the second case, the drug is pre-mixed with water, and then poured into the pit. It is worth considering that if you previously poured bleach there, then ordinary biogranules will not work - such an environment will destroy them. For these cases, there is a special kind of drug - "Septic-biogranules".

Two or three days after the application of the product, a kind of film forms on top of the waste, which, as it were, “preserves” the unpleasant odor inside. This is followed by a decomposition process, which can slow down if your cesspool is simply dug, that is, not lined with bricks, not protected in any way. However, a positive result will be in any way. If you want to have an odorless country toilet, then choose biogranules - an environmentally friendly product.

Toilet for a country toilet - which one to choose

The toilet is comfort, convenience. Often in country restrooms you can see ordinary ceramic toilet seats, the same as those installed in city apartments. This is the wrong choice, as most toilet models have a curved flush direction. In this case, the waste is washed away with a large amount of water, so this configuration is acceptable. A toilet for a country toilet, on the contrary, should have a direct “exit” so that the contents can freely go inside the cesspool. In addition, ceramic toilets are very heavy, which is also not very convenient for a summer closet.

An excellent alternative for a country option would be a special plastic toilet bowl. It is lightweight, performs all the necessary functions, it does not have a curved "exit", it is designed specifically for such street buildings. A country toilet bowl made of durable plastic is relatively inexpensive. The models are quite varied.

If we strive for comfort, then we need to take into account all the nuances, all the little things. Such a pleasant trifle, especially necessary in winter, will be a warm toilet seat. Visiting an outdoor toilet in winter is not very comfortable, it is also not good for health. The seat is exactly the part that is in direct contact with our body. The plastic seat holds the cold well, which distinguishes it from the thermal seat made of foamed polypropylene.

The warm seat for the country toilet is suitable for any outdoor closet or toilet bowl. The product is made of hygienic material that retains heat even in severe frost. This invention comes from Finland, and the Finns, as you know, know how to deal with the cold. It is very easy to install, does not absorb moisture, is easy to care for and is weather resistant. The product has a modern external design, there is a cover made of the same material. The thermal seat for country toilets is made of an analogue of foam plastic, therefore it is absolutely harmless to human health and the environment.

Peat toilet - an alternative to the usual

Anyone can equip such an innovation in their country house, since such latrines do not imply the presence of a cesspool. This option is great when a fixed building cannot be installed (high groundwater flow). These buildings are characterized by a simplified design - you do not need much time or effort to install everything. We are talking about peat toilets - an innovation that appeared relatively recently, but has already managed to positively recommend itself among summer residents.

Peat closet, photo:

Models of peat closets have an aesthetically attractive design, but if you wish, you can "simplify" this device. A removable container is installed under an ordinary country toilet with a toilet bowl without a cesspool, and a bucket with peat filler is placed next to the toilet seat. He did his job, extended his hand to a bucket of peat, scooped up the peat mixture with a special scoop, poured it into the toilet - that's the whole process.

The principle of operation of such a device is to turn sewage into compost (biological decomposition) due to the action of active ingredients. In peat dry closets, this role is played by peat or peat mixture. Near the toilet is a box with peat. After sewage gets inside the corresponding tank, they are sprinkled on top with this filler.

Branded peat toilets are equipped with a special dispenser installed near the top tank for peat mixture. This is a very convenient device: you pull the handle, a kind of “flushing” occurs - a dose of peat goes down, falls asleep. From this moment, the disintegration of feces begins, the absorption of liquid, due to which the unpleasant odor is blocked. When the container is full, it can be easily emptied, since all the waste by this point will have already been recycled and become fertilizer.

These devices require simple maintenance: sewage is removed from the storage tank, the tank itself is washed, a new portion of peat substrate is added, and the toilet is ready for use again. You can buy a ready-made set of such a closet, or you can install a wooden structure (as described above) or simply put a ready-made plastic country toilet (you can buy used dry closet booths at a low price). You just have to put inside the "box" a toilet bowl with a removable tank for collecting sewage, periodically clean it.

When the storage tank is one third full, it is recommended to empty it. The processed waste is best stored inside the composter, after a while you use it as fertilizer for your garden.

Peat toilet for a summer residence - which is better?

When buying a product, pay attention to the following characteristics:

  1. Dimensions of the product - you should be comfortable using it (the height of the toilet seat is important), the entire device should fit proportionately into the booth.
  2. The volume of the storage tank should not be too large or too small. Consider the number of people, the frequency of using the restroom.
  3. If the toilet will be used by two people, then too large a tank will have to be cleaned half empty (waste should not be inside the container for a long time).
  4. Consider the load on the toilet seat, strength, the thickness of the material should depend on the weight of the heaviest user.

As for the manufacturers of peat toilets, the most positive reviews were the products of the Russian companies Compact-EKO, Piteco, Finnish peat toilets Ekomatic L&T, Biolan Komplet, Swedish composting bio-closets Mulltoa. Prices vary - depend on the quality, on the manufacturer. It’s not worth saving on such a necessary thing as a toilet - good equipment will serve your family for decades, and this is a weighty reason.

Whatever type of closet you choose, the main thing is that it is convenient for you to use it so that the neighbors do not complain. How to build a country toilet with your own hands step by step, how to equip a “dry” peat closet, what the sanitary requirements for the construction of this building should be - you now know, which means you can tell other summer residents about it.

Photos of toilets in the country:

Thinking over the arrangement of a suburban area, many even try to make and arrange unsightly functional and outbuildings so that they harmoniously fit into the surrounding landscape.

A toilet for a summer residence may well become even a decoration of the site

There is nothing difficult in building a presentable and functional toilet in the country with your own hands. You just need to have basic construction skills and have the necessary materials on hand.

When planning to build a do-it-yourself toilet in the country house, first of all, you need to decide on the type of future construction.

Conventionally, all street latrines can be divided into two types: with a cesspool and with a removable container. Constructions of the first type suggest the presence of a hole dug in the ground. The latrines of the second type are equipped with special containers for collecting waste, filled with peat with sawdust, or with a special aqueous solution.

Country toilet with a cesspool

Traditional pit latrine. This is the cheapest and most affordable way to implement an outdoor bathroom. The principle of its operation is quite simple: waste products fall into a cesspool, where the liquid part of which is partially absorbed into the soil and evaporates, and the dense component accumulates. To clean the cesspools, they resort to the services of sewage companies.

Scheme: backlash closet device

Backlash closet. It is also equipped with a cesspool, but the walls of which are completely sealed. Emptying the cesspool in such a system is carried out only by pumping, using the toilet itself as a receiving funnel.

Drawing: powder closet equipment

Powder closet. It is a construction of a pedestal with a toilet seat. The storage tank for collecting sewage, placed directly under the toilet seat, is sprinkled with a layer of peat, which has moisture-absorbing properties. A scoop with a bucket filled with a sawdust-peat mixture is installed next to the toilet seat. At each visit to the restroom, a portion of fresh peat is poured into the waste tank. After filling the container, it is taken out to the compost heap. Due to the mobility and compact design, it can be installed both inside a residential building and in a separate outdoor booth.

Liquid bio-toilet

Chemical toilet. By type, it resembles a powder-closet, unlike a bio-toilet, the processing and splitting of sewage in it occurs under the action of chemical reagents. By using liquids based on biobacteria, waste products can be converted into useful organic fertilizer, using them as root food for plants.

Choosing a place to build

Of fundamental importance in the construction of a toilet for a dacha with their own hands is the choice of a place for its construction. It is strictly regulated by the provisions of the current regulatory documents, according to which:

  • The distance of the toilet to the water well, well or reservoir should be at least 25-30 meters.
  • The restroom must be at least 12 meters away from the residential building.
  • Cesspools must be securely isolated.

Location of cesspools in neighboring areas (according to regulations)
  • When choosing a place, take into account the features of the terrain and the direction of the wind.
  • When occurring on a groundwater site at a depth of up to 2 meters, only a dry closet, chemical or powder closet can be installed.
  • In the case of groundwater occurrence at a depth of 2.5 meters, a toilet with a cesspool or a play closet can be erected.

Compliance with these precautions helps to prevent sewage from entering drinking water.

Drawing up a diagram - drawing and sizing

Before starting the construction of a street restroom, it is necessary to determine the dimensions of the future structure. The first step is to draw up a diagram or drawing. The shape and design of the future house is limited only by the imagination and capabilities of the master. It can be an ordinary house, a cute little house or an original hut. If desired, options for drawings of country toilets can be taken on the Internet on thematic forums.

The most in demand is a classic house with a cesspool. The most optimal sizes can be considered:

  • Height from 2 to 2.3 meters;
  • Length 1.5 -1.7 meters;
  • Width 1-1.2 meters.

Blueprint: Regular pit latrine

Tip: A detailed drawing with exact dimensions will allow you to correctly calculate the dimensions of the structure and the amount of materials needed, thereby preventing possible errors and unnecessary costs.

Construction of a cesspool

At the installation site of an outdoor toilet, a cesspool is dug, giving it a square or round shape. The depth of the septic tank should not exceed 1.5 meters, and its diameter - 2.5 meters. But as practice shows, cesspools that have a round shape are more functional. They are highly durable and able to withstand heavy loads and pressure.

Tip: For digging a hole, it is better to use a shovel with a short handle. With such a tool, it will be easier to turn around in a tight space. A crowbar or pick will come in handy when digging through harder ground such as gravel, heavy clay, or limestone.

Pull out a hole of the desired size, compact its base. Instead of tamping, the bottom can be lined with a pillow of gravel. To ensure the necessary sealing of the device, the walls of the pit are laid out with brickwork, or concrete rings are installed.

Construction of a cesspool

Brickwork is reinforced with reinforced mesh or reinforcement. All joints are carefully sealed with cement mortar, followed by a waterproofing layer. This allows you to protect the crop from sewage and save groundwater from pollution.

Construction of a toilet house

The easiest way is to build a toilet house out of wood. As a support for the future structure, it is better to use three-meter wooden bars, or metal or concrete poles.

Materials and tools for building a toilet:

  • Wooden bars with a section of 100x100 mm and 50x50 mm;
  • Edged boards or fiberboard for sheathing;
  • Floor boards for arranging the floor area;
  • A piece of roofing material of 1.5 meters;
  • Hacksaw and planer;
  • garden drill;
  • Building level;
  • Self-tapping screws, nails, hammer.

Construction of a frame for a toilet

Along the perimeter of the structure, with the help of a garden drill, four holes are made about one meter deep, the diameter of which is 2-3 cm larger than the size of the supporting pillars.
One of the ends of each pipe is treated with bituminous mastic, which prevents rotting and corrosion. The columns are immersed in turn in the holes, deepening by 90-100 cm and fixing them with cement mortar. When the solution acquires sufficient strength, you can proceed to the construction of walls.

Tip: Racks for the back wall of the house are made a little lower to provide a slope for the roof. At all stages of installation, it is necessary to control the vertical installation of racks using the building level.

In parallel with the supporting posts, beams for the door are installed. To give strength to the structure around the perimeter of the vertical racks of bars of the same size, upper and lower trim is performed.

Building walls and installing doors

To ensure waterproofing, a roofing material is laid between the frame and the columnar foundation, on top of which a floor area is hammered together from edged boards.

Important: To extend the life of the wooden elements of the house, they should be treated with a moisture-repellent and antiseptic composition, which can be purchased at any hardware store.

At a height of about half a meter, perpendicular bars are installed, which will serve as the basis for attaching the toilet seat. Stepping back one meter from the back wall, at the same level, a second jumper is made to equip the seat. The base of the seat is sheathed with a sheet of chipboard or boards. A hole in the seat is cut out with a jigsaw, all corners are cleaned with a planer from burrs. To waterproof the front of the toilet seat along the inner wall, you can use a dense plastic film.

Construction of a toilet seat

The finished frame remains sheathed with fiberboard sheets or wooden edged boards 20 mm thick. You can place the boards both horizontally and vertically, fixing them on the frame with screws or nails. If desired, the walls of the house can be insulated with mineral wool or sheet foam.

At this stage of work, it is worth taking care of arranging a ventilation window, which in parallel with this will play the role of natural lighting.
The door block can be purchased ready-made or built with your own hands. It is installed so that it opens outwards, and is framed with a casing. Latches are installed both inside and outside the toilet.

Roof arrangement

The roof can be made from any roofing material you like: galvanized iron, tiles, slate, polycarbonate or simple edged boards. The boards are overlapped, fixing with roofing screws.

The roof for a country toilet can be of any shape and from any material

The light in the toilet can be led from the nearest building by throwing a two-core aluminum wire and installing a cartridge with a light bulb with a power of 40-60 watts. An excellent alternative to stationary lighting can be an LED, for the arrangement of which it is not necessary to lay a cable. An LED on a small battery, capable of illuminating a small room, is enough for the whole season.

Do-it-yourself simple country toilet: video

The restroom at their summer cottage is an essential item. The very first building that appears on the territory is a toilet. Better when it is freestanding. So, doing business in the garden, you do not need to constantly go into the house. This will allow you not to bring dirt and earth into the house once again, and unpleasant odors will not spread where the living rooms and kitchen are located.

Peculiarities

Building an outdoor toilet in a garden plot is a simple task, but it has its own characteristics and nuances. The toilet must meet all sanitary standards and rules, not cause inconvenience to the owners of the site, as well as their neighbors. Even at the design stage, it is necessary to decide how all stages of construction will take place.

First of all, you need to decide where the building will be located so that it is as convenient and comfortable for people as possible. You also need to decide whether it will be with or without a cesspool. In the first case, you need to know how to make it, what size, how to ensure its tightness so that waste does not litter the ground and water in the area. In the second - which neutralizer to use: chemical composition, bio-filler or peat.

An important point that needs to be considered before starting the construction of the toilet is the device of the house itself: according to what scheme to build it, from what materials, what size, how to neutralize the spread of odors in the future. In order for the building to complement the appearance of the site, it is worth thinking about the design of the house.

Varieties

There are several types of toilets for summer cottages.

With cesspool

This is the simplest and most common type of outdoor summer toilet. A depression of about 1.5–2 m is made in the ground, above which a small wooden structure is installed. Waste accumulates in this pit, and over time, fermenting, decomposes. If the pit fills up too quickly and the contents do not have time to decompose, you can resort to the help of a sewage machine. A wooden house can be made in an original design to decorate the site, for example, it can look like "Teremok" or "Mill".

play closet

This is one of the varieties of the previous version. They build such a toilet most often adjacent to the house or other heated structures on the site, for example, with a utility block. Its design includes a receiving funnel, a sewer, a cesspool and ventilation - a backlash channel for extracting air. In order for air to pass through the channel, it is placed near the chimney for this. Moving through the sewer, the air enters the heated part of the chimney, and then up to a special hole for ventilation. The undoubted advantage is that such a toilet is warm and can be used in the winter season.

Powder closet

Its design does not provide for a cesspool. The recess under the toilet is presented in the form of a barrel. This option is suitable for areas with a high location of inland waters, where it is not possible to dig a hole. To neutralize odors, ash, sawdust, peat are used, sewage is sprinkled with them as needed, “powdered”. As the barrel fills, it must be emptied. Mixing sewage with peat, they can later be used as fertilizer.

peat toilet

In its structure, it resembles a powder closet, since it involves the use of peat to neutralize odors. The design is a conventional toilet, the filler of which is peat. Instead of pipes, a special container is used that accumulates waste. You can install this option both on the territory of the house, and in a specially equipped house on the site. To neutralize odors, it is important to provide the building with a ventilation hole.

dry closet

The simplest type of arrangement of a country toilet. This is a portable cabin that has a container with a special tool for recycling waste.

Toilet with chemical filling

Similar to the previous mobile version, but in this case, not a bio-filler, but a chemical is used for waste disposal. It cannot be subsequently used to fertilize the soil.

The main factor on which the choice is made from the existing options is depth of passage of groundwater. If their level passes at a depth of more than 2.5 m, even when it rains or floods, any of the types can be installed. If the water level is higher than this mark, it is better not to choose options with a cesspool.

Important nuances

When deciding to build a toilet in a summer cottage, choosing its type, you need to know the rules for its installation. There are laws that regulate the construction of summer cottages. In addition, you need to think about how to equip an odorless toilet, what sanitary standards are important to comply with, how to design a closet in the absence of sewerage. When choosing a place to build, you should take care in advance that it is as hidden from the eyes of neighbors as possible and that if the door is opened, no one can see anything.

One of the main points is to decide how the contents of the toilet will be cleaned. If a cesspool is planned, you need to take care in advance of the unhindered access of a sewage truck to it.

Sanitary standards

Before starting the construction of a country toilet, you need to make sure that future construction will comply with certain sanitary standards and hygiene rules.

  • The distance of the closet from the well or well should be at least 30 m to avoid water pollution. In addition, if the terrain is uneven, the toilet should be level below drinking water sources.
  • If there are buildings on the site intended for washing (bath, shower), the distance to them must be at least 8 m.
  • If there is a room for keeping animals on the territory, its distance must be at least 4 m.

  • It is also worth taking care of cultivated plants. The minimum distance from trees is 4 m, from shrubs - at least 1 m.
  • The toilet should not emit any unpleasant odors. When determining a place for a future building, the wind rose should be taken into account.
  • The cesspool, if any, should be well insulated to prevent sewage from mixing with groundwater. The best option is to provide a special container as its bottom.
  • The distance of the pit from residential buildings should be the maximum possible value, the minimum - 5 m.

  • The distance of the toilet from neighboring areas should be at least 1 m.
  • For a toilet house, you need to think about how to conduct lighting. All wiring must be carefully treated with a special mixture that repels water.
  • Pit cleaning should be carried out as soon as necessary. To do this, you can use the services of a sewage machine or use a chemical agent that decomposes waste, which will also serve as a preventive measure for the development of fungus and other harmful microorganisms. If neither one nor the other option is possible, the pit must be covered with metal sheets to rot sewage.

What to do if there is no sewerage?

If there is no possibility to conduct a central sewage system on the site, The following waste disposal options are considered legal.

  • A metal or plastic container that can accumulate impurities. For its purification, a sewage machine can be used.
  • A special septic agent that dissolves sewage.
  • VOC - local treatment plant. Such a device requires registration with the SES.

The best way to choose a treatment plant for yourself is to contact the chairman, who will suggest the best solution. It often happens that for the entire dacha cooperative there is already an approved type of system for waste disposal.

Do I need to register?

According to SNiP 30-02-97, clause 8.7, if there is no equipped sewage system on the site, it is possible to install a powder closet or dry closet. If it is planned to install a toilet with a cesspool, before proceeding with its construction, it is necessary to agree and register the project with the SES.

It should be borne in mind that the rules for installing a country toilet may vary depending on the region. Each region has its own environmental rules, which individually need to be clarified in the regional SES. One law is still the same - human waste cannot be poured into the ground, groundwater must not be polluted.

In case of violation of the law, an administrative fine is imposed on the owner of the land, and his actions are regarded as damage to the land. However, such actions are quite common, so usually the first time the inspectors are limited to a warning. It must be borne in mind that after some time the inspector can organize a re-inspection, so it is better to eliminate all violations in a timely manner.

Dimensions

The size of the future toilet depends on its variety. Different designs have different recommended values. If you plan to put a powder closet on the site, its size should not be less than 1 m wide and 1.4 m long, the minimum ceiling height is 2.2 m. The maximum value of the parameters can be absolutely anything. To immerse pipes, it is better to determine the depth of 50–70 cm.

For backlash closets, an important parameter is the size of the cesspool. Its depth should be at least 1 m, preferably 2 m. In diameter, its size is usually 1 m. The above-ground building can have any dimensions. Similarly, a simple summer cottage with a cesspool is designed.

In any case, the size of the toilet should be such that all family members are comfortable inside, freely turn around and stand up to their full height.

How to build?

To build a toilet on the street with your own hands, first you need to determine where on the site it will be located. It must meet all sanitary standards and hygiene rules, and the level of groundwater passage must also be taken into account. It is also necessary to determine whether the house will stand separately on the border of the site, or will adjoin another room and it is necessary to think over the ventilation system for it.

The second stage is to choose the right waste disposal system, which will be optimal in this area. It is necessary to determine whether a cesspool is required and how to make it yourself. It can be made of various materials: brick, concrete, special container, barrel, car tires, well ring. It is also necessary to take care of the foundation for the building, which can withstand its weight and not sink into the ground over time. The easiest way to equip a toilet in a private house is to use a dry closet, which does not require such time and effort.

The third, final step is the construction of a house and the installation of a toilet if the toilet is a separate building. The most common types of toilets are such as "Teremok", "Domik" or "Shalash". To choose the design of the toilet, you need to determine the weight of the building. You can pre-calculate it based on the weight of the selected materials. The toilet house should be as light as possible, because over time, the soil under it may sink, and the entire structure will need to be repaired.

materials

As materials for the construction of the toilet, you can use various options. Often what is left of the construction of the main structures on the site is used.

To equip a cesspool, you will need the following:

  • sand;
  • cement mixture;
  • gravel;
  • reinforcement to strengthen the foundation;
  • chain-link mesh to fit the bottom and walls of the pit, as well as metal pins to attach this mesh to the soil.

Another option instead of a chain-link and concrete is a brick, which also lays out the bottom and walls of the pit. You can also use a well concrete ring, which has holes or large rubber tires in its walls. The easiest option is to purchase a ready-made, special container treated with a septic solution and produced in various sizes.

The toilet house can be made from different materials.

from wood

To make a wooden building not very heavy in weight, it is better to use boards. From a bar, the structure will be heavier, in this case, you first need to take care of the foundation.

The most common version of a country toilet is made of wooden boards. It has both advantages and disadvantages.

The advantages of a wooden building include:

  • Aesthetic appearance. Compared to a metal or plastic house, a wooden one looks more solid and comfortable. In addition, it harmoniously fits into the natural atmosphere, as it is made of natural material.
  • The construction of such a house does not require large financial costs.
  • Durability. With timely treatment of wood with protective solutions and cleaning the surface of dirt, the building can last for many years.
  • The tree itself has the property of neutralizing unpleasant odors, especially in the first time after the installation of the structure, exuding a pleasant forest aroma.
  • If the building becomes unsuitable for further use, it can be easily disassembled and disposed of using a stove or a fire to kindle.

from brick

This is a solid, laborious and expensive option. It will also require the construction of a foundation. It should be understood that the use of this material will not provide additional heat inside the toilet. To do this, the room must be insulated separately, using lightweight materials, such as foam.

And corrugated board

Such a structure can be erected without spending extra time and effort. In addition, a light-weight building is obtained from the profiled sheet, which will not allow the soil to settle.

From plywood or OSB board

Pretty simple and convenient option. Its construction will not require much time and financial costs. You can also use this material for cladding a frame built from a profile pipe or timber.

The disadvantages of a wooden structure are the following factors:

  • All wooden buildings are flammable and in the event of a fire are completely destroyed in a short time. This can be avoided by special impregnation with a heat-resistant solution.
  • If the surface is not treated with a special agent, the boards can quickly become damp and rot.
  • Wood is a material in which various insects can start destroying the building. Only periodic treatment of the premises with a pesticide can get rid of them.

Required Tools

In the process, you may need the following items:

  • for arranging a cesspool: a shovel, crowbar or perforator (in case stones get into the soil), a hand drill, a container that will be placed in the pit (a large barrel or a well ring made of concrete), a hammer, a screwdriver, a grinder for stone and metal, electric jigsaw, measuring tape, level;
  • for building a house: a puncher or drill, fasteners (sealant, self-tapping screws, nails, dowels), a hacksaw for metal surfaces, a tape measure and a level, pliers, insulating tape (for ventilation), a hammer, metal corners, a handle and a valve, a toilet bowl.

Step-by-step instruction

Before proceeding with the construction of a country toilet, it is necessary to draw up a detailed work plan and drawings for each of the stages.

The construction project should include the following steps:

  1. Construction of a cesspool.
  2. Foundation construction.
  3. Building a house.

The first stage is digging a cesspool. Its shape is determined by its future design. It can be in the form of a circle or a square.

If a special container is used, the pit is made so that its inlet is located in the intended place for the toilet seat, and the other hole is outside the building, which is designed to clean the container from sewage. The shape of the pit should be the same as the container, but its size should be slightly larger, about 30 cm in diameter, so that the soil can be more easily compacted.

If concrete or brick is chosen as the walls of the pit, the shape and size can be anything.

The arrangement of the pit occurs in stages:

  • The bottom of the dug pit for drainage purposes must be covered with stones, rubble or pieces of brick.

  • After that, it is necessary to fix the chain-link mesh on the walls. For this, metal pins are used, which are hammered into the ground. You can additionally strengthen the walls by adding a reinforcing grid to the grid.
  • After that, it is necessary to cover the walls with a layer of concrete of 5-8 cm and let it completely dry. Then the walls need to be plastered again using concrete. This layer also needs to be left to dry completely.

  • The hole needs to be covered. For this, a reinforced concrete slab can be used, which will subsequently serve as the foundation for future construction.
  • On top of the pit, wooden bars or concrete posts are laid, which are recessed into the soil, creating a flat surface of the same level with the surface of the earth. The wood must be impregnated with any septic solution.
  • The entire surface is covered with dense polyethylene. In place of the future toilet bowl and the hole for cleaning the contents of the pit, the necessary space is left. These two holes must be trimmed around the perimeter with formwork. In a place intended for the elimination of sewage, a hatch is subsequently installed.

  • A lattice frame is placed on the film, which is also finished with formwork around the perimeter.
  • The entire area is poured with concrete mortar. This layer must be allowed to dry well. For better surface strength, after some time it can be covered with dry cement. This concrete pour will serve as the foundation for the future building.
  • You can proceed to the installation of a toilet house.

If the bottom of the pit is planned to be laid out with automobile tires, it must be borne in mind that the use of such a design is possible only with rare frequency, when the family comes to the summer cottage only on weekends, for example.

Such a pit tends to fill up very quickly and it will be inconvenient to use it.

  • First of all, for the equipment of this option, you need to dig the hole itself. It is made in a form that repeats the outlines of tires, but 15–20 cm larger in diameter.
  • The bottom of the pit is covered with stones and rubble for drainage purposes. This layer can be about 20 cm high.
  • At the bottom of the pit, tires are placed in the center in such an amount that the top one makes an even layer with the surface of the earth.
  • On the outer perimeter, the voids left are covered with rubble and sand and compacted.

  • To make the structure more durable, you need to build a light foundation from above. To do this, a recess about 50 cm deep is made around the perimeter of the laid tires around the entire toilet in the ground.
  • Sand up to 10 cm in height is poured into the bottom of the recess, the same layer of rubble is laid on top of the sand.
  • Crushed stone and sand are covered with dense polyethylene from above.

  • Then you need to give the foundation a solid frame. For this, facing the recess with brick and processing it with cement, or installing a reinforcing mesh, which must be poured with concrete mix, is suitable.
  • After the concrete layer has dried, the foundation is plastered and leveled.
  • The surface must be covered with an insulating material, such as roofing material.
  • You can start installing the toilet house. To do this, you first need to install a frame of wooden, strong bars on the foundation, on which the building itself will be installed.

If you plan to equip a pit using a large barrel or several barrels stacked on top of each other, the algorithm of actions absolutely repeats the construction of a pit with car tires. This type of construction is very simple to implement, however, it has one big disadvantage - fragility. Metal, in contact with soil and sewage, tends to quickly rust and deteriorate.

After the construction of the pit, you need to consider how the room will be protected from the gases coming from this pit. Even if you install a tight damper, there will still be gaps between the wooden boards that will let in air and an unpleasant smell. For the functioning of the ventilation system, one more hole is left in the pit, which will be connected to the hole in the back wall of the toilet. The diameter of the hole should be about 10 cm.

The next stage is the construction of the house itself. To do this, you must have a pre-prepared scheme and drawing of the building. First you need to decide on its design. So that the house does not spoil the appearance of the entire site, you can choose very beautiful options, for example, imitating a fabulous log hut - the Teremok type.

To do this, first a frame is made according to the drawing from boards in the shape of a rhombus. After that, you need to build a roof and cover it with a roof. After the roof, the walls are sheathed with wooden boards or metal sheets - any available material. This design can be installed both on a cesspool and on a dry closet.

The final stage is the installation of doors and windows. This is done last, because during the installation of the house, the structure may undergo some changes in size, the doorway may end up being slightly wider or narrower. The door is hung on 2 or 3 hinges. It is necessary to take care of the presence of a heck on the inside of the room. The window is usually made small in size from the side where the door is located under the roof. In addition to the window, a small hole must be provided under the roof - a natural air exchange system. Since it is located directly under the roof, the roofing protects it.

On request, you can make the interior decoration of the premises. This will give the toilet a finished and cozy look. To do this, the walls are painted with paint or wallpapered. You can hang curtains on the windows, add decorative elements - paintings on the walls, flowers in pots.

Another option is to build a house in the form of a triangle - the "Hut" type. This is a fairly simple construction during construction, which does not take much time and effort. Its undoubted advantages are the spaciousness inside the room and the stability of the base. The walls of such a house serve simultaneously as a roof. This design is especially successful during the rainy and snowy season, the walls will always remain dry.

Construction is carried out in accordance with the drawing. First, a frame is made, a place for the toilet bowl is indicated, and then the walls are sheathed with the selected material. In this case, only the front and rear walls are sheathed, the side walls are covered with roofing material. The waste disposal system with this design can be both a cesspool and a dry closet.

Another version of the house is the traditional or Birdhouse type. This is a rectangular house, which is built according to general principles according to the drawings. Its design can be absolutely anything. The building is installed on a wooden frame made of beams, which is attached to the foundation. Usually the front vertical racks of the frame are longer than the rear ones. In this case, a slope for the roof is obtained. These racks are attached primarily to the base-frame. Then another horizontal frame is fixed - the ceiling.

At a height of approximately 50 cm, horizontal crossbars are installed. A toilet bowl is supposed to be installed in this place. After that, the walls are sheathed, and the roof is covered. The last step is the flooring and installation of the toilet seat.

Often the toilet is combined with another building, for example, with a shower or utility block. In this case, the building will occupy a much larger area, which must be thought out in advance. Combining a toilet with a shower will allow the use of one water drain system.

Arrangement of a country toilet is an important issue. If you think well about its construction in advance, it will last for many years.

  • The best type of country toilet is peat.
  • To make the cesspool solid, isolated from the ground and groundwater, it can be filled with concrete or bricks can be used to line the walls and bottom.
  • For interior decoration, it is better to use warm materials, such as wood. In addition, it is worth taking care that the floor is not slippery. Therefore, for example, tiles are not the best option.

  • During the construction of the frame of the house and sheathing it with boards, it is necessary to treat the material with an antiseptic solution so that the building is protected and lasts longer. After this procedure, the tone of the tree becomes darker.
  • If a chemical solution is used as a cleaning agent, in addition to its direct purpose, it will additionally serve as a prevention of the reproduction of harmful microorganisms.
  • It is not necessary to install a toilet bowl intended for urban use in a summer cottage. Conventional toilets have a curved inward flush direction. The country toilet should have a straight direction. In addition, models for city apartments usually have a lot of weight, which is undesirable for an outdoor case. The best option is a special model made of plastic.

  • It is better if the toilet seat is warm, especially if you plan to use the toilet in winter. There are special thermal seats made of polypropylene that retain heat even in the coldest weather.
  • Do not ignore the question of the design of the house. It must be beautiful so that the building lasts for many years and pleases the owners. Among the original ideas, one can single out a house in the form of a fairy-tale hut, a carriage, a Chinese house, a mill.
  • If the interior space allows, you can hang a washbasin in the toilet for washing hands.

Successful examples and options

The appearance of the toilet house can be absolutely anything. Everything is limited only by the imagination of the owner.

  • The building in the form of a tower looks very neat.
  • For connoisseurs of originality, the design in the form of a real carriage may be to your liking.
  • The traditional building in the form of a house looks very harmonious on the site. A building in the form of a hut is considered successful, the walls are maximally protected by a roof from moisture and other environmental factors.

Sheets of corrugated board can be used as an alternative material.

The simplest option is a dry closet, for which it is not necessary to erect a separate building.
