Light

The main factor in the disinfection of the bedroom is natural light. Secondly, in a properly finished bedroom, the well-known “open bottle effect” works the opposite way: dust does not settle in the room, but is imperceptibly swept out of it. For this, in addition to proper wall decoration, a dust-free ceiling and a properly selected floor covering are required. A warm floor gives a huge effect on hygiene and comfort in the bedroom, but its installation is a difficult, time-consuming job, it requires the complete removal of the old screed and the formation of a new one, which is tantamount to a major overhaul of the floor.

Cleaning and drying

The need for drying is determined by a piece of film in 1 sq. m, laid on the floor and tightly pressed along the edges: if no condensation has formed under it during the day, it is not necessary to dry it. Dry with a fan heater or industrial hair dryer, with a slight excess of moisture. To speed up drying, you can spread silica gel in cloth bags in the room, but in no case scatter it!

Basic surface repair

During the basic repair of the ceiling and walls, rusts are foamed in layers - the seams between the plates. The thickness of one layer is 3-4 cm. Foam with a gun with a thin long nose until the channels between the plates are filled.

To determine the necessary degree of repair of the floor, its revision is first carried out. In the presence of intersecting or gaping cracks located along the perimeter, more than 2 mm wide, cracks are necessary. Separate cracks are sawn with a grinder 50-70 mm deep, dust-free, treated with a deep penetration primer on concrete and sealed with a thixotropic compound, having previously inserted marker studs. After the thixotrope has hardened, the markers are removed, the seam is sawn again with a grinder, a damper cord is placed in it and filled with silicone sealant. Small potholes are sealed with a cement-sand mortar; tubercles are removed with a grinder with a bowl-shaped circle on concrete.

The second option for partial repair of the base floor is dust removal, impregnation with a “deep” primer, sealing cracks with silicone and a 10-20 mm base. The bulk composition is kneaded immediately over the entire floor area with a perforator with a mixer; pouring the floor in parts is avoided even by experienced professionals. The poured composition is leveled with a mop and rolled with a special needle roller. It is possible to fill on top with another polymeric liquid self-leveling floor by 7-10 mm. It simplifies flooring and provides additional insulation, but is expensive.

Floor overhaul

Overhaul of the floor, in addition to its poor condition, is necessary when installing a warm floor and hidden laying of heating wiring. First, a hydro- and vapor barrier is applied to the dried surface of the ceiling from a special film (hydrostop, etc.) with a twist on the walls of 25-30 cm, without cuts. Then: in usual cases with expanded clay; under a warm floor - special fibrous mats with increased bearing capacity or foam concrete. In the first case, the layer is at least 20 mm; in the second - from 60-80 mm.

Next, plaster beacons are laid in increments of 600-800 mm and the screed is made with a very viscous, “dry” cement-sand mortar. Knead it in portions of 10-30 liters with a perforator or drill with a mixer. Portions are successively dumped between the lighthouses and leveled with a wide rule over the lighthouses. You can walk on the screed in a day, but before laying the floor, it must stand for at least 40 days.

Floor screed

Another stage of the rough finish is working with the floor, namely, the implementation of the screed. A floor screed is an intermediate layer of flooring that separates the base laid during construction and decorative elements.

Floor screed is a necessity for several reasons:

the base, as a rule, is not very even, it has many flaws, so the screed is made to level it;
if the distribution of pipes and heating is carried out under the floor, a screed will also be a necessity, since this wiring will need to be hidden;
a screed is also necessary for a competent, safe distribution of thermal insulation properties;
the screed is also made if there is a need to create any slopes.

Laying the final floor covering without a screed will make the floor ineffective and reduce its thermal and sound insulation properties by several times.

The screed also has a slight soundproofing effect. This is especially true for repairs in a bedroom located in a new building, since the soundproofing properties of such houses, as a rule, are reduced to a minimum.

The rough finish of the walls and the floor screed allows to reduce the noise level.

There are several types of screeds, and each of them has some characteristic features.

Wet screeds are made by combining a dry mixture with an aqueous solution. Screeds of this type exist in two versions: connected and floating (serving to provide the greatest degree of sound insulation, which is provided by laying the mixture on special mats).

Dry screeds placed on the surface with the help of expanded clay and special plates. Surfaces are treated with plaster or cement mortar to hide the resulting seams.

Ceiling and wall primer

After leveling the surface and applying putty, it is necessary to prepare the walls and ceiling for final finishing. To do this, you need to apply a layer of high-quality primer. The primer is a special solution that serves as a kind of adhesive between the surface of the wall or ceiling and the finishing material.

The primer also has protective properties, preventing the loss of moisture by finishing materials. The thing is that concrete has the feature of excessively strong absorption and suction of moisture, which can lead to fairly rapid drying of the material, loss of all elasticity and premature failure.

Primers are divided into several types and are selected in accordance with the surface to be primed. In addition, the choice is influenced by the humidity of the room and the purpose of the material.

One type of primer is designed to serve as a layer between building and finishing materials, while others are needed only to process the base of a wall or ceiling. And still others are completely distinguished by the properties of deep penetration, which is very important for walls made of fragile, bulk material.

The primer may need to be applied in several layers, depending on the type of mortar itself and the surface of the wall to which it is applied.

It is possible to proceed to the final finishing only after the complete drying of all layers of the primer.

To determine if the wall needs additional priming, after the first layer has dried, it is necessary to run your hand over the surface. If dust remains on the palm of the material from which the wall is made, the procedure should be repeated.

Finishing

After the rough finish and preparation of the walls and ceiling, you should proceed to the finishing. It includes decorating the walls, ceiling and floor with the necessary finishing materials.

Materials must be selected in advance, as the preparation of the walls must be carried out in accordance with the type of finish.

Do not be too smart when choosing materials. Overestimating your strengths, you may simply not be able to cope with the task and not complete the bedroom renovation as you would like (or not complete it at all). However, the choice of material will be discussed a little later, now the main stages of the final finish and their features will be considered.

Ceiling

To mount the stretch fabric on the wall (a few centimeters from the ceiling), special metal profiles are mounted. After that, the canvas is heated with special air guns and stretched around the perimeter of the entire bedroom. The edges of such a web are tucked behind the profiles - and thus fixed.

Walls

With the stages of finishing the ceiling, everything is clear, the next step is the decor of the walls.

The most suitable option is selected - depending on the surface of the wall itself, room temperature, humidity level and individual preferences.

If the choice fell on ordinary patterned wallpaper, everything is quite simple here - high-quality glue with the appropriate characteristics is selected, the wallpaper is cut into canvases of the required length, smeared with glue and attached to the wall. If necessary, you can apply glue to the wall itself too.

If the choice fell on wallpaper with a pattern that needs to be joined and adjusted, the canvases should be cut in advance for the entire perimeter of the room - taking into account the creation of a complete picture.
