A great shrine and just an incredibly interesting historical monument!

Nicholas the Pleasant, Nicholas of Myra, Saint Nicholas, Santa Claus - perhaps Nicholas the Wonderworker is the most famous Christian saint in the whole world. Surprisingly, the main Temple of his name is not in Israel, not in Italy, not in Russia, but in Muslim Turkey.

To date, this Temple is not active, it is considered a museum. And I can say for sure - it’s worth getting there both for believing Christians (it’s really a great shrine), and for representatives of other religions or atheists - the place is very ancient, historically rich and incredibly interesting.

Let me tell you first how to get there. It is very easy to do this - you can buy the most common Demre-Mira-Kekova excursion on the Antalya coast, one of the points of which is a visit to the Temple of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. We took an excursion with Ginza Travel, we were taken directly from the Mirada del Mar hotel (Kemer), it cost $ 35 (if you go on your own, but the entrance to the temple costs $ 10).

A bit of history. Nicholas the Wonderworker is an absolutely real historical figure, he was born around 270 AD. e. on the territory of modern Turkey near the city of Demre (formerly - the city of Mira). In those days, it was the Roman province of Lycia, which is why Nicholas is also called Myrlikian. Around 300, he became the bishop of the city of Myra, where he lived until his death.

The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker will surprise you with its appearance. The construction is very ancient (the first building was still in the 4th century, and the one that we can see today dates from the 8th century), in some places it looks more like ruins than a church, and from the outside it’s generally difficult to say that this is a temple.

However, inside this place is absolutely amazing - frescoes and murals of the 11th and 12th centuries have been preserved here in their original form.

The floor is paved with a very interesting Lygian mosaic of various types of stone, which dates back to the 6th century BC.

I think you will also be struck by the image of card suits on the walls of the temple. What are they doing here? For example, before visiting the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, I did not know that spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs are the most ancient Christian symbols, which mean respectively: the peak that Jesus Christ was finished off with; the heart of the Savior; the heads of the nails with which he was crucified; crucifixion itself. In the XIV century. some joker used them to create a game of chance, which is why card games are considered sinful.

Saint Nicholas after his death was buried in a marble sarcophagus in this Temple. However, in the 11th century, when the church could have been sacked by the Seljuks, Italian merchants stole the relics of St. Nicholas and transported them to the city of Bari in Italy, where they are today. To this day, the shrine is located in the temple of this Italian city. Turkey has repeatedly declared its historical rights to the relics of Nicholas, but the Vatican ignores these statements.

Unfortunately, today there are no relics of St. Nicholas in the sarcophagus. However, a small part of the relics is in the Museum of Archeology in Antalya.

Part of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (including the altar) was built from the stones of the church in which he served as bishop during his lifetime.

The Russians also left their mark on this temple - in the second half of the 19th century. the ruins were bought by the Russian nobles and the reconstruction of the church began. True, we began to reconstruct the church in our own way - we built an Orthodox dome - an onion)) However, it was not destined to end - another Russian-Turkish war forced the Russians to leave Demre.

Then the region was dominated by Alexander the Great, the Roman Empire and Byzantium. After a devastating earthquake in the 8th century and constant raids by the Arabs, the region fell into economic decline. Antalya and the surrounding territories were the object of the struggle between Byzantium and the Seljuks, passing into the power of one or the other rulers, until the final conquest of Antalya by the Ottoman Empire in 1432. Antalya was in the power of the Cypriot Kingdom in the period 1361-1373. Until the 20th century, Antalya was ruled by the Ottoman Empire until the end of World War I, before becoming part of the Republic of Turkey in 1921.

- A thriving coastal resort in Turkey, very popular with tourists. The city of Side is located on a small peninsula between two stretches of a golden beach surrounded by the waters of the Mediterranean. In this pretty city of modern architecture, chic shops, night bars perfectly coexist with the ruins of the ancient city.

Fans of nightlife can safely go to the bars and discos located near the harbor or visit the most popular nightclub in Side - oxygen.

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, take a walk among the enchanting ruins of ancient Side. Aspendos- the theater, which was built in the 167th century AD by the architect Zeno, as a gift to the city, is perfectly preserved today.

Love shopping? Go to Manavgat, and to buy souvenirs, it is enough to walk along the patches that are located along the streets.

Side has golden sandy beaches with a gentle entrance to the sea, only in one place there is a natural plate that can make it difficult to enter the sea. For example, in the Selge Beach hotel and nearby hotels. As a rule, sunbeds and deck chairs in 5 * hotels are included in the price of the tour, so you are definitely provided with a wonderful tan under the rays of the Turkish sun. And water sports will give you a lot of joyful emotions that will remain in your memory as a useful pastime in Side.

One of the most favorite hotels in Side is the Ali Bey club hotel, on the territory of which there is an amusement park and a huge water park, excellent animation, everything is done for a comfortable and fun vacation for tourists.

- one of the most famous resorts of the entire Antalya coast, attracting many Turks and foreign tourists. Kemer is famous, first of all, for its nature. The mountain ranges that surround the city, the clear dark blue sea, the Mediterranean sky dotted with the brightest stars.

Such coastal villages as Kirish, Camyuva, Tekirova, south of Kemer, where the delights of a beach holiday are complemented by well-established tourist structures, attract a huge number of tourists from all over the world. As a consequence of this popularity, neighboring archaeological areas have been rediscovered, which can be reached from Kemer by boat. The most famous are ancient ports Phaselis, Olympos and Chimera.

In Kemer, you can choose the category of hotel depending on the purpose of the trip. The most demanding tourists will have a great rest in high-level hotels Rixos Premium 5* or Amara Dolche Vita 5*. For lovers of shopping and a good massage, I would recommend staying at the hotel Grand Haber 5*. One of the main advantages of the hotel is its location near the city center of Kemer, but unlike most city hotels, it has a beautiful area with peacocks and a water park. The hotel has a beautiful view of the mountains, which are very close to the coastline in the center of the city of Kemer. All city entertainments are within walking distance from the hotel.

In Kemer there are several large discos Aura, Inferna, Buddha, where the entrance is paid, unlike the discos in Alanya. In the village of Tekirova there is a discotheque at the Kaplan hotel, which is free for hotel guests. Sometimes foam parties are held here.

The beaches of Kemer have some features. More precisely, the beaches mostly have bulk sand everywhere, but the entrance to the sea is pebbly and varies in quality in different parts of Kemer.

In the village Beldibi considered the most unfavorable beach with large pebbles, sharp boulders and even slippery platforms come across, the entrance to the sea can be very problematic. Therefore, for families with small children, it is better to choose a resort with sandy beaches or small pebbles. And for young people, the village of Beldibi may well be acceptable; this resort has many economical 3 * hotels that are located on the first coastline of the beach. And also in Beldibi there are famous Turkish discos.

In the city itself Kemer the pebbles, though large, but the entrance to the sea is quite pleasant. In addition, the entire city infrastructure is close to the hotels. New settlements of Kemer with good not very large pebbles Kirish and Camyuva which are located near Kemer. You can relax in a calm environment, enjoying nature, and if you need to go to the city of Kemer, it will take 5-10 minutes by transport. Kiris and Camyuva are proud of their modern new hotels.

And finally, the best beach and a comfortable entrance to the sea with small pebbles in the village Tekirova And not only the beach! It is in Tekirova that the sea has a deep beautiful dark blue color. In this village there are old club hotels, which have beautiful green areas with overgrown tall trees. And don’t let the age of the hotels scare you, they are well looked after here, they are redecorated, but most importantly, the good traditions of hotels remain, which attract regular guests. For example, a very solid club hotel Marti Myra 5 *, with good traditions of the Ultra All Inclusive concept. You can hardly find such a high-quality variety in meals for dinner, and entertainment in club hotels is very interesting for any age.

Whichever resort you choose, rest on the Antalya coast of Turkey will give a lot of positive emotions. The hotels here are perhaps the best in the world for a beach holiday, from expensive five-star hotels with their own attractions, water parks, to small budget hotels 2-3 *, designed for an economical vacation. Fascinating entertainment outside the hotels, beautiful natural landscapes, interesting historical sights that the region is rich in - everyone will find here the desired entertainment for a good rest.

Kitchen

Meatball dish şiş köfte, which can be tasted only on the Antalya coast, has a unique taste. Locals also like to cook national dishes from the gifts of the Mediterranean Sea. A local delicacy is a pastry stuffed with cheese and meat, which is very popular among locals for breakfast.

shopping

In the resort towns, there are a great many shops and shops with clothes, shoes and accessories that are open from 09:00 to 21:00 - this is very convenient for tourists who want to spend the day on the beach, and in the evening, when the heat subsides, go shopping. The schedule of shops is even more convenient, they are open until two in the morning.

Today, the Antalya coast of Turkey is one of the most visited regions by domestic tourists. Here you will find not only excellent rest, but also a harmonious combination of price and quality. The Antalya coast stretches along the coastline for 350 kilometers. From west to east along the coast there are such famous resorts: Antalya, Kemer, Belek, Side and Alanya.

ANTALYA

Antalya is one of the main tourist centers of the Republic of Turkey, in the south of the Mediterranean.

In the second century BC. Pergamum king Attalus ordered his subjects to find the most beautiful place on earth, a real earthly paradise. After a long search, they found this paradise, surrounded by mountains like a fortress. It was there that King Attalus founded the city, calling it by his own name - Attalia (in the modern pronunciation of Antalya).

Main resorts Antalya coast: Antalya, Kemer, Belek, Side, Alanya, Olympos, Cirali, Kas.

Antalya Park City encircles the ancient quarters with its wide alleys, combining in its atmosphere the breath of antiquity and the rhythmic pulse of the modern busy administrative center. Today Antalya is the central city of the Antalya coast, with a developed infrastructure: hotels, several water parks, a dolphinarium, huge shopping centers and a population of over one million people.

An exceptional feature of Antalya is the urban environment, so those who want to plunge into the original culture of Turkey go here: wander along the embankment, admire the famous waterfall, look into the port, go to the local Archaeological Museum, visit shopping centers. Those tourists who are looking for relaxation in harmony with nature can choose hotels located far from Antalya, Lara, Kundu regions.

Antalya's coastline is not homogeneous, part of the city is located on a rocky coast, and therefore the beaches of many hotels are platforms to which tourists go down by elevator, but such hotels can offer their guests a beautiful view of the sea. In the west of the city there is an actively developing Konyaalti area with pebble beaches, and in the east of the city there is a sandy Lara beach, where a sufficient number of hotels with developed infrastructure are concentrated. The Aksu-Kundu region arose relatively recently, and quickly gained popularity among tourists due to first-class prestigious hotels with spacious territories. The beach in Aksu-Kundu is sandy, and the entrance to the water is covered with small pebbles.

Antalya is also a free trade zone, a real paradise for buyers for all tastes and budgets, European boutiques, oriental bazaars, numerous shops will offer a selection of traditional jewelry, carpets, ceramics, leather products.

Antalya opens its doors and welcomes not only tourists from all over the world, but also the annual Golden Orange Film Festival, which takes place here in the first week of October. The symbol of the film festival is orange oranges, which you can see from the window of the sightseeing bus on the way to the hotel or airport.

We recommend starting your walk at the most beautiful Duden waterfall, which is located 12 km northeast of the center of Antalya. The transparent waters of the Taurus Mountains, falling from a 40-meter height, fall directly into the sea, forming a waterfall, hundreds of thousands of sea spray and on a sunny day - a rainbow glow. KEMER

Kemer is a resort town and the administrative center of the district of the same name, located 42 kilometers southwest of Antalya. Kemer is located in the historical region, which is known as Lycia, the land of which keeps traces of Alexander the Great, Anthony and many other great commanders of antiquity. The city is located on the territory of the National Park of the same name, on the slopes of the Taurus Mountains, approaching the Mediterranean Sea itself. This small seaside town, which grew out of a fishing village, is mentioned in Homer's Iliad: a legend says that in ancient times a monster with a goat's body, a dragon's tail and a lion's head lived here - Chimera, whose name is preserved in the name of the city.

The Mediterranean climate reigns here - it is relatively cool in summer. There are many different hotels in Kemer and its surroundings - from modest family pensions to luxurious five-star clubs. The resort area of Kemer includes the districts: Beldibi, Goynuk, Kemer, Kirish, Camyuva, Tekirova.

The beaches of Kemer are mostly pebbly, which is an undoubted advantage. Thanks to the pebbles, the sea, even in shallow water, always remains crystal clear; many beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag, marking the most favorable coast for recreation. Since the transparency of the depths of the sea is not disturbed, this creates ideal diving conditions for both experienced divers and beginners who first get acquainted with the realm of Neptune. The total length of the Kemer beach strip is more than 40 km. The total population of Kemer is 19.1 thousand inhabitants. In addition, Kemer boasts a wonderful climate and an abundance of greenery; most of the hotels are located directly in the forested area. The coast is famous for its picturesque bays and magnificent pine forests. For tourists who prefer an active lifestyle, in Kemer there is everything you want: on the beaches - sports events, diving equipment, marinas, for lovers of entertainment - many bars and restaurants, shops and discos.

Sights of Kemer

If you like sightseeing, then not far from Kemer you can visit the majestic ruins of the ancient cities of the city of ancient Lycia: Tekirova, Olympos and Phaselis. Scorched by the sun and time, squares and streets, walls and amphitheatres, sarcophagi and monuments imperceptibly capture their charm.

Traditional route yacht tours, starting from Kemer, and runs in the direction of Phaselis bays, which since ancient times are considered the most beautiful on the coast, it was not for nothing that the location shooting of the Hollywood Odyssey took place here. Kemer keeps the memory of Alexander the Great, who led his troops, the Romans left behind the famous roads that do not wear out, the triumphal arches of emperors and the necropolises of cities.

In Kemer, you will find the cleanest sea, gentle sun and hospitable hosts of these places, ready to make your vacation unforgettable. In Yeryuk park(nomad), where tourists often go on a jeep safari tour, you can meet the craftsmen at their traditional work and buy your favorite souvenirs for all tastes. Excursion to Tunektepe disco organized from Kemer and Antalya.

Excursion to Mira-Kekova

One of the most interesting excursions to the Lycian cities - Mira (modern Demre) and Kekova. Demre Pamukkale

For more demanding and inquisitive tourists, we recommend choosing a two-day excursion along the Demre-Pamukkale route. Pamukkale or Cotton Fortress, located on a mountain range, is one of the wonders of the world. Snow-white crystals of travertine terraces, blueness of mineral springs and ancient monuments of the history of ancient Hierapolis create a fabulous landscape, which hundreds of thousands of tourists traditionally come to admire. Previously, tourists were allowed to swim in natural pools and walk barefoot through calcium-rich springs, but due to the huge flow of tourists coming here, they were banned. Everyone can swim in Cleopatra's pool, the waters of which, according to legend, rejuvenate. Now a separate zone has been allocated for tourists to walk in Pammukale, and the attraction has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Excursions in Pammukale are both one-day and two-day. We recommend choosing a two-day option for an educational vacation, which makes it possible to see and learn more about the history of the country than one fairly busy day.

Cappadocia

An excursion to Cappadocia is a trip to the open-air museum of nature, which is located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. A two-day trip to a flat, devoid of vegetation plateau, to the "Land of Beautiful Horses", will make a huge impression on any traveler. The wonderful mysterious world of cave settlements of the 1st c. BC. Cappadocia and the Goreme National Park fascinates the eye with a bizarre landscape of volcanic origin. Millions of years ago, the Erciyes volcano erupted its ferocious streams that covered the surface of the earth for hundreds of kilometers around. It was one of the greatest eruptions, creating one of the most spectacular landscapes on the planet. The first settlers of this area lived in rocky caves. With the advent of Christianity, monasteries, churches, and chapels arose here. Just like Pamukkale, Cappadocia is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The duration of the individual tour is two and a half days. The program is developed individually for each group.

View of the Uchisar fortress, carved into the rock

You can also see Cappadocia from a bird's eye view - in a hot air balloon, however, the pleasure is not the cheapest (the flight costs about three hundred dollars), but the sensations in such an excursion are much brighter.

In the process of a boat trip, tourists will overcome the thresholds of the first and second difficulty. An experienced instructor, who is always nearby, will help you put on special equipment and instruct how to behave during the trip. SIDE

Side is a small peninsula located near one of the oldest settlements in Turkey - Sides, 75 km from Antalya. The city is located on the peninsula of the same name, deepening into the waters of the warm Antalya Gulf. Side is one of the busiest resorts in southern Turkey.

In the Old Anatolian language Luvi, the word "Side" means "pomegranate". A small peninsula, bordered by sandy beaches, really looks like a pomegranate fruit that has fallen on the coastal strip, right into the warm Mediterranean wave. In ancient times, the pomegranate was a symbol of life and fertility, so the coins minted in the city bearing this name are decorated with this particular image.

Side city

In antiquity, Side was a major trading center, but the dignity of a rich port merged with the infamous slave market and the exuberant fame of a pirate haven. The peak of the pomegranate city's heyday came during the Roman Empire, it was this era that left most of the monuments quietly proud of their turbulent past, surrounded by respectfully admiring tourists. The city amphitheater, the Roman baths that sheltered the archaeological museum in the slumber of the halls, the walls and gates of the city, the slender columns of the temple of Apollo are basking in the rays of the dazzling sun, hiding in their cracks the shadows of bygone centuries. Destroyed by earthquakes and enemy raids by the 10th century, Side plunged into the slumber of a quiet provincial life for a long time, preserving an amazing atmosphere of closeness of history for future guests - tourists. For lovers of antiquity, the pomegranate city is a real archaeological reserve.

Modern Side does not go beyond the walls of the ancient city. Mirages of the past and the breath of the present live in it. The ancient roads along which the imperial armies and motley caravans moved, the Apostle Paul and patient wanderers, lead to the majestic ruins of the ancient cities of Perge and Aspendos. The pine groves of Sorgun, the Manavgat waterfall, the water surface of the artificial lake Titreyengol - the amazing harmony of natural contrasts organically sets off the monuments of the turbulent past.

The flat landscape of Side has changed with the development of tourism, hotels attract attention with well-groomed greenery of trees and flowers. Side offers wonderful sandy beaches for relaxation, awarded the European Blue Flag. Most of the hotels are located in three zones. In Colakli, 14 km from the city, the most modern hotels with good infrastructure and sandy beaches are built. Kumköy, the resort area closest to the city, is famous for its picturesque coastline and shallow coastal waters. Titreyengol, famous for its artificial lake and modern entertainment centers, is located 7 km from Side.

Voyage Sorgun Hotel

The narrow streets of Side, Manavgat, Sorgun, Kumköy will hide walkers from the heat of the day, countless restaurants will offer you to relax and enjoy amazing Turkish cuisine, and colorful shops and shops will allow you to find that souvenir that most vividly reflects the unusual flavor of the pomegranate city.

Turkey. Choosing a resort on the Antalya coast. Antalya, Kemer, Belek, Side, Alanya.

It is simply impossible to have a bad rest in Turkey. Transparent azure sea, sandy beaches, beautiful coniferous and eucalyptus forests, thousand-year-old dust on ancient ruins as a reminder of bygone civilizations, ripe oranges right on the trees, tanned Turks who speak fluent Russian, famous Turkish baths and belly dances while slowly smoking a hookah ... Everything this makes the endless streams of tourists annually sent on a pilgrimage to the Turkish coast.

The Antalya coast of Turkey among Russian tourists is undoubtedly one of the most familiar and popular destinations. Often here you can choose the best vacation options in the ratio "price - quality". Undoubtedly, each resort region on the Mediterranean coast has its own characteristics to satisfy every taste and budget. The main thing here is to choose the right place.

Antalya welcomes tourists

Antalya is today a large city (population about one and a half million people) with a developed tourist infrastructure. There is an international airport here, which receives all tourists arriving on vacation in the areas of the Antalya coast (Kemer, Belek, Side, Alanya).

The undoubted advantages of this resort are that here you can plunge into the atmosphere of the country, unlike, for example, Belek, where rest is organized inside the hotel and tourists rarely leave it. There are many things to do and see in Antalya. Large discos, restaurants and coffee houses in the national style, cinemas, two large water parks, a dolphinarium, an amusement park, countless shops and shopping centers - shopping here is an integral part of the holiday. But at the same time, do not forget that Antalya is still a big city, and if you want to relax calmly and quietly, then you should hardly choose this resort as your main place of residence.

Hotels in Antalya are mostly urban, located mostly away from the city center. In the area of Lara and Kundu there are new expensive respectable hotels with a range of entertainment inside the hotel.

Some hotels (to the west of the center) use the municipal beach with large white pebbles. Others, located on the rocky coast, have their own platform beaches, which you need to go down the stairs or by elevator. (The Lara area has its own sandy beaches).

Therefore, mainly those who, in addition to a beach holiday, want to plunge into the daily life of Turkey, get acquainted with the culture and customs of the country, go to Antalya.

Kemer - sea, mountains, pines

The road to Kemer will take a lot of time - it is located 40-60 minutes drive from Antalya Airport. The resort area stretches along the coast for 70 km and is divided into small tourist villages: Beldibi, Goynuk, Kirish, Camyuva, Tekirova and the town of Kemer itself.

The main advantage of the region is beautiful nature: the resort is located on the slopes of the Taurus Mountains, by the sea, surrounded by relic pine forests, olives and palm trees.

Natural beaches here are pebbly, even if bulk sand is found in hotels on the beach, the entrance to the sea will still be pebble. By the way, the sea here is very clean - the bottom is visible even at a depth of 7-10 meters, so many beaches of Kemer are marked with the Blue Flag.

Kemer is a resort in many ways universal, so there are different categories of vacationers. Tourists with children head to the villages of Kirish and Camyuva - there are mainly beaches with small pebbles, which is important for a comfortable stay for the whole family (Amara Club Marine Hotel, Simena Holiday Resort & Spa HV-1).

For people who prefer a quiet respectable vacation, 5 * hotels are enough here, some of them are hotels of the Rixos system, Sungate Port Royal, Fantasia De luxe, Renaissance Amara Dolce Vita (former Coralia Palmariva), Ak-ka Hotels Antedon de-Luxe are able to satisfy the most sophisticated requests .

Young people are attracted to the city of Kemer, where there is always a vibrant nightlife with a lot of all kinds of entertainment, and the Beldibi district, where, in addition to bars and cafes, there is an excellent nightclub "Crystal" and a platform for the national Turkish show with belly dance, which takes place in the restaurant "Sultans Kervansaray". ".

When choosing a hotel in Kemer, please note that, for example, in the city of Kemer itself, hotels do not differ in large territories. But on the other hand, there are many coastal bars, nightclubs, discos, etc. nearby. Hotels in resort villages, in general, have a large territory, and all entertainment is concentrated on the territory.

Belek - for a respectable audience

The most prestigious hotels and first-class tourist complexes of the Antalya coast are concentrated in this resort. Many hotels are distinguished by original, and sometimes even bold architecture.

The resort area consists of two small villages: Belek and Kadriye. Each of them has shops, restaurants and cafes, but the main life of vacationers is concentrated on the territory of hotels.

The main natural difference of the region is a wide strip of white sandy beaches with a gentle entrance to the sea. Coarse heavy sand quickly settles to the bottom, leaving the water clear and clean, there are no high waves. The coastal zone is marked with the "Blue Flag" for environmental cleanliness. The resort is also famous for the beauty of its eucalyptus, cedar and pine forests.

The main category of hotels in Belek is 5 *, the best, prestigious and luxurious hotels and clubs are located here, equipped with the latest technology and comfort. (Rixos Premium, Cornelia de-luxe Resort, Xanadu), which provide a variety of sports and fitness opportunities. Many are equipped with international spa centers (Gloria Verde Resort, Rixos Premium, Xanadu, Sillyum Resort). Most of the hotels are located on the seashore and have a vast territory.

Belek is one of the world centers of golf. Some hotels have good golf centers: Letoonia Golf Resort, Adora Golf Resort, Gloria Verde Resort, Tat Beach Golf Hotel, Sirene Golf Palace & Village.

This region is preferred by discerning tourists (hotels with a high level of service), as well as families with children (there are wide beaches with clean soft sand).

Side - lovers of antiquities go crazy

Side is a large Mediterranean resort and, at the same time, one of the most ancient port cities of the southeast coast, founded in the 7th century BC. The convenient location on the peninsula, many quiet, cozy bays, and the western shallow beach make it extremely attractive for tourists, and especially for families with children. A distinctive feature of the resort is the affordability and sandy beaches adjacent to the east and west.

The city itself is located in a flat region, there is less vegetation here than in Kemer or Belek, but every year the territories are more and more planted with greenery and flowers.

In the vicinity of Side there are mountains with steep cliffs, lakes, caves, streams and turbulent rivers.

Hotels here for every taste: from multi-storey high-level complexes to the so-called "aparthotels" (a room with a kitchen). Most hotels are located in resort areas:

  • Kumköy (3 km from the city) is an attractive place for families with children (the beaches are located in a bay with gently sloping shores, the coast is shallow) (Asteria Hotel, Papillon Muna, Paloma Perissia Resort);
  • Colakli (14 km from the city) - modern hotels with good infrastructure and golden sandy beaches; (Turan Prince Residence, Sural Resort)
  • Titreyengol - famous for its sandy beaches and pine forests; (Grand Prestige Hotel, Kaya Side)
  • The small village of Manavgat (6 km northeast of Side) is a typical Turkish village with a real Turkish bazaar where you can go shopping or take an exciting journey along the mountain river that flows in this place.
  • There are many attractions in Side. A well-preserved ancient theater is open for visits, where festivals are held, the ruins of the temples of Athena and Apollo, the Necropolis, fountains and an aqueduct, Roman baths, which today house the Archaeological Museum. In the city of Side, there are many discos open until dawn. Among them, "Oxid" is without a doubt the best disco in Side (located closer to the village of Manavgat). Here you can dance, splash in the pool and drink various drinks at the same time.

The resort is chosen by lovers of antiquities, those who are looking for a serene relaxing holiday. In addition, Side is a great place to relax with children: sandy beaches, clean air, shallow coastal waters and plenty of children's entertainment.

And also this city is considered an ideal place for lovers, because according to legend, the beautiful Cleopatra and Mark Antony arranged a romantic date here.

    Alanya - inexpensive and tasteful

The former base of pirate ships, Alanya still has preserved the historical monuments of those ancient years. The sea coast of Cleopatra, with amazingly clean, transparent water and gentle grains of sand shimmering under the bright sun, a long, smooth line of the beach is the most popular holiday destination for Europeans. In the center of the resort rises a mountain, with a peak decorated with an ancient Byzantine fortress.

Alanya is the most remote resort from Antalya (the road from the airport is 2-2.5 hours).

In some places, the coast of the resort is dissected by rocky capes into cozy bays, and in some places the coastal strip is very open and even, low mountains stand in the distance. There is little greenery here (mostly palm trees).

The resort area includes Incekum, Konakli, Karaburun and Mahmutlar districts and the city of Alanya itself.

If you are going to Alanya, please note that in some places there may be sandy wide beaches, but the entrance to the sea may be rocky. Therefore, when choosing a hotel, you should ask about this. Also pay attention to its location of the hotel. If it is an inexpensive 3-4 * hotel and is located at a distance of 15-20 km. from the city, then it is quite possible to get bored in it, because there will be no entertainment on the territory, and you can only get to the center by minibus.

The best 5 * hotels in this region are Delphin and Botanik. The hotels are not new, but very green and with a lot of entertainment.

The undeniable advantages of the resort are the longest swimming season and inexpensive high-quality recreation, besides with children (sandy beaches).
