How to hang a mirror - competent location and tricks for decorating mirrors and mirror surfaces (105 photos). Installation of mirrors in a house or apartment - we improve the layout! How to stick wallpaper on a mirror

Mounting a mirror on a wall is often a concern. Firstly, the mirrors are fragile, and secondly, nothing should cause damage to the amalgam on the reverse side.

There are several ways to mount mirrors, it is necessary to choose the best one based on the design, weight of the product, as well as the type of wall. This article discusses the main, common ways:

1. Paste the mirror on the wall;

2. Fix the mirror with brackets;

3. Fix the mirror on the wall using profiles;

4. Fix the mirror with the support.

How to stick a mirror to the wall

In a modern interior, mirrors of any size (even a very large area) look good, simply glued to the walls, that is, without visible fasteners. The option, during installation, is very convenient, since there is no need for tools and fasteners, only suitable glue is needed.

Although it cannot be said that everything is so simple. In doing so, several questions need to be addressed.

First of all - the preparation of the wall. It is necessary to free up space according to the size of the mirror (remove tiles, wallpaper, etc.). If the finishing material on the wall is thick enough (thicker than the mirror), it may cause the mirror to be in a recess. The problem is solved by attaching an additional base under the mirror (for example, a piece of plywood or drywall).

The surface of the wall released under the mirror must be flat, otherwise the fastening will be unreliable. Therefore - clean, putty, close up irregularities with putty, sand after drying.

A primer is required for the surface to which the mirror will be glued.

What is the best mirror glue? Everything is elementary here: we choose either a special glue for mirrors (as it is called), or liquid nails, but also for mirrors (it is important that the glue does not damage the amalgam during the operation of the mirror).

We apply glue pointwise, but often (large dots at a distance of about 5-6 cm from each other). By fixing the mirror in this way, you can combine glue and double-sided tape (use moisture-resistant tape to stick the mirror in the bathroom).

If you decide to fix the mirror on the wall with glue, you will have to be patient - you need to press it against the wall for 10-15 minutes so that the glue holds the surfaces well. For a heavy mirror, it is worth organizing props and leaving it like that for several hours (overnight, ideally).

You need to understand that it will be impossible to dismantle the mirror later in order to move it to another place - you only have to break and remove the fragments.

Mounting the mirror with fasteners

There are several options.

Through mounts for mirrors;

Staples for mounting mirrors;

Mirror hanging.

How to make holes in a mirror

You can fix dowels in the wall, and screw special through-hole mounts for mirrors into them. True, for this the mirror will need to be drilled in several places. Drilling a mirror is not an easy task, if you do not own the technology, you should not try to make mounting holes. Glass cutting workshops are everywhere, most of them have special equipment with which you can make holes in glass and mirrors in minutes. By the way, the cost of such work is cheap.

If you still want to try to cope with the task yourself, you will need a drill with a diamond drill (for glass, mirrors, ceramics). An excellent tool from the group of small-sized - Dremel. In general, this miniature device with removable tips helps the home master a lot - he, if necessary, is a jigsaw, a drill, a grinder, etc.

To make a hole in the mirror:

1. first decide on their exact location;

2. be sure to degrease the surface with alcohol;

3. drill carefully, at low speed;

4. Keep the drill cool all the time.

To organize the cooling of the drill is quite easy. Blind a small bath from plasticine, pour water into it, set it in place of the future hole. You need to drill through the bath, periodically adding water. It is even better to fill the plasticine container not with water, but with turpentine.

When the hole is ready, its edges must be carefully cleaned with fine-grained sandpaper.

Mirror Mounts - Staples

The easiest way to mount a mirror on a wall is to use special brackets for mirrors, which are now on the market in a large number in a huge variety. So, the holders by design can be lateral or straight, by materials - wooden, metal (mainly aluminum, chrome), plastic (clear plastic brackets are interesting in this regard). The design is also different - from discreet, where the mirror itself comes to the fore, to stylish, with decorations. The convenience of mounting the mirror on brackets is that it does not need to make holes in it.

How to fix a mirror with brackets?

1. We mark on the wall where the brackets are attached.

2. The mirror is inserted into the holders, clamped.

3. Fixed on the wall.

How to make brackets for mounting a mirror yourself

You can mount the mirror on the wall using a backing and homemade brackets. Everything is simple.

We cut out the substrate for the mirror from a piece of hardboard (thin fiberboard) or plexiglass (plexiglass).

Using washers, we fasten strips of galvanized steel to the substrate - so that they protrude slightly beyond the edge. We do this along the top and bottom edges of the substrate.

Along the upper edge of the base, at the same distance from the corners, we fasten a pair of strips with holes drilled in them (ears for hanging the structure).

We put a mirror on the base.

We bend the galvanized strips onto a mirror surface.

We hang the mirror structure on the wall by the ears.

How to attach a lightweight mirror using self-tapping screws without drilling

To make such a mount, you will need an assistant who will press the mirror against the wall in the right place.

Large self-tapping screws are screwed into the wall above and below the mirror, close to the edges. The mirror is fixed, it remains to put decorative caps on the caps of the self-tapping screws.

The construction market also has enough profiles for attaching mirrors - from different materials. The difference in fixing the mirror on brackets and fixing the mirror with the help of profiles is small.

How to make holes in the wall for mounting a mirror

Choose the right drill for the job carefully. This is very important: if the drill is not the right size, the dowels in the wall will gradually loosen, and in certain circumstances the mirror may fall and break.

The hole for the mirror mount should not be drilled evenly, but slightly obliquely. That is, it is better to drill from top to bottom. This approach will allow you to make a very secure mount. Even if, for some reason, the fastener loosens, it still cannot fall out of the wall, since the dowel will be held by the wall itself. The slope may be quite small.

Actually, fixing a mirror on the wall is not a very difficult job. The peculiarity lies in the fact that the mirror should be approached a little more responsibly, compared to other materials. Otherwise, there are no "tricks" or "nuances" here.

The completion of the repair, after the dust has settled in the apartment or room, does not mean the end of the construction throes, there is still much to be corrected or even redone, but the first step is to fix the lighting and the work of the lamps, adjust the operation of the window sashes and hang a mirror in the room. Only then does the room acquire a habitable appearance.

Is it easy or difficult to attach a mirror to the wall with wallpaper

In fact, the solution to the problem of how to attach a mirror to a wall with wallpaper is not as obvious as it might seem at first glance. Often there is not much experience in such a matter, usually objects, including mirrors, can be attached using a dowel hammered into the wall of the room. But after repair, general cleaning of the room from dust and remnants of wallpaper rolls, punch fresh holes in clean and even walls in order to attach a mirror - somehow the hand does not rise. Moreover, the location of the mirror may change, you will have to attach it in a new place, and after fixing, holes from dowels will remain in the old place, which are not so easy to remove or disguise with repairs.

Fantasy and technical ingenuity tell us that you can attach a mirror to the wall in one of the following ways:

 • With the help of double-sided construction tape;
 • Any polyurethane adhesive composition;
 • Using hidden plugs.

Note! If the mirror has decorative elements and weighs more than two kilos, do not try to attach it to the wallpaper on the wall with glue or any similar means.

Even if the wallpaper is "tightly" attached to the wall, the surface layer of the wallpaper will be removed like a film, and the mirror will break.

Need for fiction is cunning, attach the mirror "tightly"

All the above methods are real and available in the implementation for any wallpaper. Among the above methods, the first two are used for light small mirrors, the last two, in fact, are universal, but much more complicated, and require increased accuracy and accuracy.

Advice ! It is better to attach the mirror in places remote from the draft, which will save you the trouble of regularly dusting the glass surface.

Checking and determining how much space on the wall is protected from dust is easy enough. It is worth removing dust with a damp cloth from the planned place on the wall. After a couple of days, run your hand over it - if dust appears, then the place is not suitable.

If the integrity of the wallpaper is not of great value, then the mirror can be attached to the wall using a fairly simple procedure - two dowels and a pair of brackets.

How to attach a mirror with glue

If it becomes necessary to glue something during the repair, they most often recall the widely advertised Liquid Nails glue. But in practice, the advertised composition was not always able to qualitatively and quickly attach even small objects on a smooth surface. Therefore, for a relatively heavy object, such as a mirror, it is unlikely to fit. Also, any lime compositions popular in repair are unsuitable for such attempts.

A better option would be to attach a thin and heavy mirror glass using Moment adhesive compositions or polyurethane foam mounting mass. The latter option is more preferable due to the highest adhesion, even on a dusty surface.

If you decide to attach the mirror to the wallpaper with glue, you need to make and stick an intermediate screen on the back of the mirror. It can be made for the entire size of the mirror, in the form of a wide rectangular frame, tightly adjacent to the painted plane of the mirror. The composition with which the back of the mirror is covered is very poorly glued directly to the thin base of the wallpaper, so an intermediate layer is used in the form of a screen.

The best material for the screen will be light and durable fiberboard, 3-5 mm thick. The frame should be glued with rubber or any other adhesive that gives an elastic seam. The MDF board from which the screen frame is made consists of pressed paper. This will help to attach walls well to the surface of the wallpaper and compensate for the difference in thermal expansion of materials.

Before you attach the mirror, you must perform a number of procedures:

 1. Determine and mark the selected place on the wallpaper for the exact positioning of the mirror, more precisely, its top;
 2. Remove and thoroughly clean the surface from dust and residues of wallpaper paste;
 3. According to the markup, apply glue to the wall surface, apply glue to the mirror screen in the same way, wait for a little drying of the applied layer;
 4. After 10-15 minutes, repeat the procedure, remove excess glue and gently attach the mirror to the wallpaper;
 5. After a couple of hours, you can remove the fasteners and clean the glass surface from dust and fingerprints.

If you use mounting foam for fastening, you need to do a little differently. At a point located 40-50 cm from the top of the mirror, according to the markings, we hammer in a 30 mm thin nail, like a needle. With the help of a thin but strong thread attached to the top of the mirror screen, we hang it. On top of the screen, apply a few drops of polyurethane foam from a balloon with foam. Slowly turn the object over and apply foam to the wallpaper according to the markings. We press and leave in a suspended state. If foam appears through the top of the frame, do not remove it. It is easier to cut it off after drying by running the blade of a construction knife along the top of the mirror. Before gluing, it is necessary to remove dust from the surfaces to be glued, and first of all from the wallpaper.

How to attach using a mechanical fastener

The heavier the mirror, the stronger the mount should be. An object with a diagonal of more than 40 cm can also be attached with glue, but there is no guarantee of a secure attachment. For heavy mirrors, you can use the old-fashioned way - attach with two small plugs and a pair of self-tapping screws.

If the mirror on the back does not have a base made of pressed cardboard or plastic, you will have to use the recipe from the previous paragraph and glue a homemade screen or bar. The larger the mirror, the stronger and thicker the transition frame should be. For glass surfaces with a diagonal of more than 50 cm, additional reinforcement from a thin wooden lath will be required, for which it will be possible to attach the frame to the wall. The rail is fixed with glue at a distance of ¼ of the entire height of the glass from the top. After that, at a distance of 5-6 cm from the ends of the rail, one self-tapping screw should be attached, but do not wrap them completely into the body of the tree, leave a couple of millimeters.

Between the screwed screws, it is necessary to fix a strong nylon thread, it can be from the category of shoe threads. The length is about 10-12 cm more than the width of the glass. The top of the stretched thread should not peek out from behind the top of the mirror. Before fixing the corks with self-tapping screws in the body of the wall, it is necessary to correctly mark the wallpaper. To do this, with two pencils, we stretch the thread from both sides in the direction of the top so that the distance between the tension points is approximately ¾ of the width of the glass surface. After that, we measure with a ruler the distance from the top of the frame to the stretched thread.

Next, we find the optimal location of the mirror on the wall and mark the position of the top of the frame on the wall with a simple pencil. At the marked points, we set aside the measured distance, after which we determine the points for traffic jams in the wall.

Next, we use a little trick. We need to drill so as not to damage the wallpaper. To do this, at each of the selected points with a sharp blade, we make a cut in the form of a cross measuring 2x2 cm and carefully bend the edges of the wallpaper. In the lower part, before drilling holes, it is necessary to attach a small cardboard shelf with plasticine or any other material. The shelf will help collect dust and sand from drilling and prevent debris from falling into the gap between the bent edge of the wallpaper and the wall.

At each of the two points we drill holes for plugs 10 mm in diameter. The greater the weight of the load, the greater the diameter and depth of the plug. After blowing out the dust, the plasticine and the shelf can be removed, then the protruding parts of the cork are cut to the level with the wall. You can proceed to the next operation - attach a mirror surface. Self-tapping screws are not completely screwed into the plugs, leaving 1-2 mm.

Then you can attach the item to the thread without fear that the mount will not support the weight of the item. In addition, this mounting method makes it relatively easy to level the mirror glass. In this way, paintings and large decorative panels are usually attached to the wallpaper.

If, after repair, it becomes necessary to attach the item in another place, traces of traffic jams can be easily removed. To do this, turn out the screws and remove the plugs. We cover the remaining holes with putty, after drying we bend the edges of the cruciform cut of the wallpaper and carefully glue it in place. If you do it carefully, even up close you can’t always see the place on the wallpaper where you once decided to attach a mirror or picture.

Mirrors, like any other type of decor, differ from each other depending on the characteristics. The thinnest mirrors are 5 mm thick, they are very fragile and you must be extremely careful when working with them. The slightest wrong movement when installing a thin mirror will damage its surface. By itself. The thickness of the finished mirror directly affects the weight of the product and it is much more difficult to install a thick mirror than a thin one.

The second difference between mirrors is the presence of an amalgam. Amalgam this is a special coating on the back of the mirror, which makes it possible to turn an ordinary transparent surface into a mirror. Frameless models made according to this principle are quite cheap, but they also have their drawbacks - sharp fogging with temperature changes. Usually, this effect manifests itself when installing a mirror in the bathroom, as soon as you turn on the hot water, the mirror immediately fogs up.

Mirrors coated with silver amalgam do not fog up when the temperature changes. Such mirrors are, of course, more expensive than aluminum ones, but it is much more convenient to use them. If you, like all beginners in repair, are trying to save money, then buy silver amalgam mirrors for the bathroom, and aluminum amalgam mirrors can be used for all other rooms.

How to attach a mirror to the wall with glue?

Using glue to fix a mirror to a wall is considered the easiest, most reliable and fastest way to fix it. Any product - light or massive, will be held on the wall with glue, but only if you use special glue. Such glue resembles liquid nails and is sold in tubes. Before fixing the mirror, you need to apply a special adhesive to the amalgam, and then press the mirror against the wall. You need to hold the product for 3-5 minutes, after which it can be released. This method is very simple, but there are several restrictions which must be taken into account when choosing this mounting method.

Sometimes you can do without visible damage to the walls when mounting mirror surfaces. How to hang a mirror without a frame on the wall in the bathroom and hallway? To do this, there are several simple ways that can be performed without the involvement of a specialist.

To prevent collapse from fasteners and not waste valuable time, you should follow the safety rules. In accordance with them, you need to protect yourself and others from an accident due to unreliable fixation of a structure without a frame.

What are the methods of attaching mirrors to walls?

In order to insure yourself against unexpected troubles that can harm the health of loved ones, you need to fundamentally approach the problem of fastening glass to a wall in a frame and without it, study detailed recommendations, evaluate the possibilities of the room, and analyze which method is more suitable, given the material of the walls.

With glue.

 1. Some types are called glass glue. This method does not damage the coating and is distinguished by the best adhesion of the object to the wall.
 2. You can buy glue brand Moment called liquid nails.
 3. Suitable for mounting and synthetic rubber.
 4. Titanium for mirror constructions will perfectly connect the mirror with plaster, wood, drywall.
 5. Foam based on rubber. Can bond thin glass to a concrete or drywall wall.

For self-tapping screws and non-through fasteners.

This is the most common method of fixing large-sized mirror surfaces to concrete and wooden walls.

Double sided mounting tape.

The tape should be wide. In this way, you can glue fairly small and light mirrors evenly. These recommendations are suitable if you later need to move the piece of furniture to another room.

Screws when drilling glass.

You will need to drill holes in the surface; if you move it carelessly, this procedure can damage the mirror.

Fasteners without affecting the mirror surface.

Fastening on dowels in a blind way is suitable in cases where cutting through the glass sheet is not welcome.

picture method.

If it is possible to fix the object by the upper part and hang it on one nail by the rope, then you do not have to use glue or self-tapping screws.

With fasteners glued to the back.

The disadvantage of this method is that it is impossible to know for sure whether the glue can withstand the weight of a heavy mirror.

Each method must be used with caution, correctly assessing the possibilities of the room and the wall. For safety reasons, no extra people or children should be in the room at the time of installation.

How to hang a bathroom mirror on tiles?

It is impossible to hang glass directly on the tile, as the surface may not withstand and collapse along with the mirror.

If the bathroom is already tiled, then you will have to partially get rid of it or fasten screws and fasteners at the joints between the parts. When the plaster has not yet been glued, you need to leave a place under the mirror in advance.

You can easily attach the object to the wall without nails. With such mounting, it is recommended to equate the level of plaster under the tile and under the mirror. A regular tile panel is thicker than glass, so a wall-mounted model will sink in. If this situation is not satisfactory, then it will be necessary to decorate the resulting seam around the perimeter. Otherwise, you need to equalize the levels by applying an additional layer of plaster to the wall.

Apply glue evenly over the area and back surface of the product. The rest of the recommendations must be seen on the packaging. Some types of glue fix objects over time, up to 20 minutes. This period will need to maintain the structure.

Using a drill, you can fix the mirror at the optimal height, taking into account the density of the surface to which the attachment takes place. If a decision is made to mount on a tile, it should be noted that the screws must be of the required length in order to reach the base wall. When the wall is solid, you do not need to use dowels.

If the manufacturer of the mirror did not provide for the possibility of such an attachment, and there are no holes, then you will have to do them yourself with a diamond drill. Particular attention should be paid to fixing the lower part, while it is possible to screw the screws under the glass, and not in it. In this case, the design will become more durable.

This method is optimal, as it does not involve drilling the surface and helps to fix the mirror on an uneven wall.

To use this method, you need to pick up the holders in the store. They must be strong enough and suitable for the interior of the bathroom.

This method is good for mounting volumetric and heavy mirrors. Two mounts must be fixed at the bottom, and a pair on the sides. If the item is miniature, then one fastener on each side will do. For a bulky design, you need more elements.

We hang a mirror in other rooms on drywall or concrete

On concrete

In order to securely and efficiently attach a mirror to a concrete plastered wall, several well-known mounting methods are suitable, using various auxiliary materials.

If the wallpaper in the room is pasted directly onto the concrete wall, then they must be removed at the place where it is planned to attach the mirror. You can not glue on the wallpaper, they can come off without being soaked through with glue. In such cases, the rear surface of the mirror will not adhere to the concrete coating. Even the lightest mirror cannot hold on paper alone. Glue is recommended to be applied on the edges, corners and in the center of the surface of the product and in the same places on the wall. At the same time, make sure that excess glue does not spoil the coating nearby.

screws.

It is necessary to resort to such measures only in extreme cases, when it is not possible to do the work in another way. Even a microcrack on fragile glass can lead to trouble. When installing, reduce the number of revolutions of the drill to a minimum.

Standard fasteners.

They can also be attached to the wallpaper, at such a distance from the wall as is required for the mirror to complete the task.

The procedure for performing actions when attaching glass holders to the wall:

 1. Disassemble fasteners.
 2. Try on a mirror.
 3. Mark the necessary places with a marker.
 4. Make holes in the wall.
 5. Insert dowel.
 6. Fix the mirror with the fasteners.

It is better to perform such actions in the company of an experienced assistant. To correctly calculate the width between the fasteners, you need a measuring tape or a large ruler.

On drywall

On a plasterboard wall, you also need to follow the rule, exclude wallpaper from objects that the mirror comes into contact with.

Double sided tape.

In this way, you can fix a small mirror on drywall without drilling the wall. But to be sure, you still need to add liquid nails. It is important to know that there should be no greasy stains on the wall and back surface. To the surface contaminated in this way, the adhesive tape will not stick.

Picture method.

This is possible if there are holes or fasteners in the upper part of the item.

It is advisable to thread the rope not in loops, but in a circle and glue it to the base of the glass for strength. You can hang it on a massive decorated nail, and make a pattern of artificial leaves or colored threads on a rope.

When the wallpaper is removed and both surfaces are free of grease, moisture and debris, you can proceed to mount the glass on the wall without fixing it with mirror glue, liquid nails or other similar chemicals.

It is important when working with these products to ventilate the room in order to prevent partial toxic poisoning of the body.

Holders and screws.

Drywall is a relatively fragile material. The larger the area of the object, the more fasteners are needed. The length of the self-tapping screws must be chosen such that it reaches the main wall, since on one drywall with point fixation, in contrast to the adhesive method of fastening the entire surface, the mirror will not be able to hold. It is impossible to attach objects weighing more than 20 kg to such a wall.

The standard location is above the chest of drawers. So you can use the product without fear that children will reach it.

 • It is better to cover the glass with a special film. This recommendation must be observed without fail if the mirror is intended for decorating walls in a children's room. The film will protect the child from splinters, even if the mirror does not just crack from impact, but crumbles into small pieces entirely. Because they all adhere securely to the transparent film surface.
 • Choose the height according to the height of all adult households. It is desirable that the eye stops in the middle of the mirror canvas. This will help you look at yourself completely. If the surface is intended to reflect a person from head to toe, it is advisable to attach it with an edge no lower than 15 cm above the crown. Otherwise, in a hat or with a high haircut, it will not be very comfortable to look at yourself.
 • In the bathroom, it is better to place it above the sink, while hanging it at the optimal height. Such a rule is connected not only with ease of use, but also with the fact that it will be easier to wash the structure located in this way.
 • You can fasten not only to the walls in the apartment, but also to massive wooden furniture: on the outer part of the bunk bed, on the cabinet door, and so on. This not only simplifies the task, but also looks very nice.
 • If there is little light in the room, you can hang a mirror in front of the window. This will not only visually enlarge the room and make it voluminous, but also save you from forced dimming even on a cloudy day.
 • If hung above the table you like to sit at, then with the help of mirror lighting with special removable lights, you can build a professional makeup area, like a TV star.

It is also good to use a mirror in order to improve the view in the living room. It is in this room that it is better to hang a mirror with a frame that fits the meaning of the design project. The mirror performs several functions at once - it decorates the room, additionally illuminates the room, expands the boundaries, helps us become more beautiful. To securely fix the mirror on the wall and not bring down the plaster, you will need good recommendations and accurate information. Based on this, even the most difficult work can be done with ease.

A mirror as a functional element of decor is available in many residential buildings and apartments. Its acquisition is inextricably linked with the need to choose a surface for fixation and a method of attachment. Many choose the option of gluing this decorative element, and in this case the question arises of how to properly carry out this procedure, and what glue for mirrors is of the highest quality. This will be discussed in this article.

How and how to glue a mirror on a cabinet

In order to update a bored interior and transform the entire room, furniture is often decorated with mirrors. In particular, there is interest in how to glue the mirror to the cabinet door. The area of this decor for pieces of furniture is small. Before you start fixing the mirror to the cabinet, you should mark the borders on the door within which this decorative element will be located. The fixing technology also involves solving questions regarding how to glue the mirror to the cabinet. Work begins with the creation of markings on the surface of the cabinet. Double-sided tape for mirrors is fixed around the perimeter. The further algorithm of actions is as follows:

 1. The adhesive tape is fixed on the rear plane of the mirror around its entire perimeter.
 2. Strips of adhesive tape are complemented by segments of a vertical direction, located at a distance of 30-40 cm from each other.
 3. Mirror glue is applied to the back of the decorative element.
 4. At the last stage, a layer of protection is removed from the double-sided adhesive tape, and the mirror itself is fixed on the cabinet door, in accordance with the markings created earlier there.

How and how to stick a mirror on the wall

Another important question for many owners of brand new decor is: “how to glue a mirror to the wall?”.

When solving it, you should adhere to the following sequence:

 • The wall is carefully prepared. All irregularities on it are cleaned, and then the surface is covered with a protective primer with deep impregnation. This ensures better adhesive adhesion. The adhesive itself must be designed specifically for gluing such elements to the main plane.
 • At the next stage, they start gluing the mirror with the prepared surface. For this purpose, pieces of double-sided tape of large thickness are used. They are glued to the back of the product, adhering to a step between segments of 60-70 cm. The need to use double-sided tape arises because the mirror element needs to somehow hold on until the adhesive composition is completely polymerized.
 • After the adhesive tape is pasted, the protective coating is removed from it, and then, using a glue gun, glue is applied around the entire perimeter of the back side, as well as along the edges (also from the back side). The application of adhesive strips is carried out between the strips of adhesive tape, with an interval of 15-20 cm.
 • Immediately after applying the adhesive, attach the mirror to the prepared wall. For the lower part of the structure, it is worth creating some kind of support that will prevent the decorative element from falling until the glue dries completely.
 • There should be a small gap around the entire perimeter (between it and the wall surface).
 • The mirror is pressed tightly against the surface, but this should be done carefully.
 • Polymerization of good glue will occur in about 20-30 minutes, and such a composition dries completely only after one day.

Double-sided tape in this case can be replaced with liquid nails for mirrors. This variant of the fixation material is a construction adhesive characterized by a heterogeneous or homogeneous structure. Liquid nails have a high bond strength, which is 10 times higher than the strength properties of PVA glue. The main advantage of this adhesive composition is that it does not spoil the decorative coating. That is why liquid nails are the perfect solution when deciding how to attach a mirror to a wall with wallpaper. In terms of strength, liquid nails are equated to dowels. As for the choice of liquid nails, everything will depend on the material to which the decor will be glued. Liquid nails can be selected for fixing mirror decor on ceramics, plastic, metal or wood. The use of liquid nails eliminates the question of how to glue the mirror to the tree. Such glue will connect the glass to the wood as firmly as possible.

Using this adhesive, you should know exactly how to use liquid nails. Before you start using them, you need to carefully study the instructions for them. Next, it is worth thoroughly treating the surface of the wall so that it is clean and dry. Glue nails can be applied in two ways - using a glue gun or a regular spatula. The glue, called liquid nails, will be ready to use if the spout of the package is cut at an angle of 45 ºC, and then a glue gun is inserted into it.

It is interesting! After opening the package, the composition retains its properties for one year.

A well-equipped ventilation system should be available in the room where liquid nails are being worked on, as its components are characterized by a high level of toxicity. It is recommended to store a bottle of glue liquid nails at a temperature of +5 to +25 ºC.

How and how to glue a mirror to a mirror

The need to glue the mirror surfaces to each other sometimes also arises. Many people are interested in whether it is possible to glue a mirror on a mirror, how strong such a design will hold. Note that this work is not difficult, but you still have to make some efforts. So, there are two ways to glue two mirrors together:

 1. They can be interconnected by ribs, which makes it possible to significantly increase the area of the mirror surface. This process is quite complicated, and requires the utmost care and precision. If the mirrors are supposed to be glued to the wall afterwards, it is better to fix them separately, while simultaneously adjusting their position on the surface. If the structure will be hung on the wall, then it is better to glue both elements in advance, with edges, using a special adhesive for mirrors. It should be noted that such a mount is not reliable, and is used extremely rarely.
 2. Another way to glue mirrors is completely surfaces. The need for such a procedure arises at a time when there is an old mirror, but it is not possible to remove it. The new mirror decor can be glued to it.

How and how to glue a mirror on a tile

When thinking about how to glue a mirror in the bathroom, it should be understood that the walls of this room are often decorated with ceramic tiles. Attaching a mirror to it with glue is easy. Everything is done according to the standard scheme described above, in the case of gluing to the wall. But there is one difference, which is the use of a sealant at the last stage of the work. With its help, the gap between the surfaces to be glued is closed. Thus, the gluing procedure is carried out in the following sequence:

 • Special glue is applied around the entire perimeter of the mirror surface (from its back side). The composition is applied in a continuous layer. It is advisable to indent from the edge not less than 2 cm.
 • In the middle, the back part is smeared with glue in the form of a lattice.
 • Next, the mirror, as in the case of gluing to the wall, is applied to the surface and pressed.
 • For a decorative structure, it is necessary to create a support so that it does not fall to the floor before the glue dries.
 • When the glue dries, the gaps between the ceramic tiles and the structure itself are sealed with a transparent or white sealant.

It is also worth considering how to strengthen a large mirror so that it does not suddenly fall off under the onslaught of its own weight. Usually such reinforcement is done with self-tapping screws.

Auxiliary materials that allow fixing the structure on a ceramic surface deserve special attention. Naturally, for such work you will need special glue for the bathroom mirror.

Among the most famous and reliable adhesives are:

 1. Glue tytan for mirrors. This composition is characterized as one of the most reliable adhesives. Designed to work with various surfaces, including ceramic tiles. The adhesive composition is made from a mixture of rubber and resins. It is these components that provide high-quality gluing of decorative mirrors not only to ceramic tiles, but also to wooden, concrete or metal surfaces, as well as slabs made of plasterboard. The main properties of titanium glue are: the formation of a waterproof and elastic seam;
 2. Abro glue. The composition sets quickly and is highly durable. It is used to join metal to metal, glass to glass or metal to glass. The special properties of this adhesive composition allow it to be used for gluing rear-view mirrors. The peculiarity of the composition lies in the fact that the manufacturer supplies it in two ampoules. One of them contains the adhesive activator, and the other contains the glue itself.
 3. Loctite glue is a two-component composition that is of high quality and in demand among consumers. It, like the previous version, incorporates glue and an activator. One such set is enough for gluing one or two mirrors (depending on the area of the decorative element). And if you take an aerosol composition, then it will be enough for a couple of dozen mirrors, and this option becomes an ideal solution for car services, where there is a constant need to fix rear-view mirrors.
 4. Adhesive compositions 3M, Permatex, DoneDeal are also characterized by high quality, but at the same time they are more affordable.

Advice! Remember that you can adjust the position of the mirror when using glue within a maximum time of 5 minutes.

Now you know how to properly stick a mirror to various surfaces (furniture, walls, ceramic tiles) and you can do this work yourself and carefully, changing the interior of your favorite room for the better.
