How to remove the window size for a mosquito net. Measurement of a mosquito net for installation on a plastic window. Old wooden carpentry windows

Hide

A mosquito net is an item that is not always installed on windows right away. Sometimes it has to be purchased separately or you need to replace the damaged one. That is why it is important to know how to measure a mosquito net on a window and choose the product that is right for the parameters. Different grids differ in design, and they need to be measured in different ways.

Mesh size definition

If not yet, measuring what it should be is the most difficult thing. To do this, you need to know how to take measurements for a mosquito net, depending on what type you will have. It is not necessary to hire a specialist: you only need to stock up on a tape measure and devote a few minutes to the process.

Dimensions may depend on what type of mounts are installed on them. The product is usually placed from the side of the street, attached to the frame with the help of special metal hooks. Please note that the mesh should completely cover the window opening, slightly going beyond the frame.

Grid size measurement

In order to understand what size should be , you will need to measure the height and width of the window opening. In this case, you need to add the following numbers to each parameter:

How to measure a rod-type mosquito net?

This product model is only available for those windows that are equipped. The mesh is inserted into the recesses that are in the opening when the sash is open. The dimensions of the mosquito nets must clearly correspond to the window.

Mounting types and sizes for them

The frame should not have a strong or rounded bevel, otherwise it will not work to install such a grid.

Before taking the size of the window , make sure it is suitable for this type of mosquito nets. Measurements are simple: you will need to measure the width of the window opening, starting from the outer ledges of the frame. After that, 1 cm is subtracted from each parameter.

The grid during installation should leave a technical gap: it is approximately 5 mm. A sealing brush is inserted into the gap, which prevents debris and insects from entering the gap.

Cases that do not allow the grid to be installed

There are options when the grid cannot be fixed on the window:

  • Such a problem can be caused by a metal grill located close to the frame. You can get out of the situation only with the help of a rod grid. The roll model will not work due to the large thickness of the box. If the grille is close, the Z-mounts are not always where to place.
  • Closing the frame with a concrete quarter causes the same problem: only rod mesh will be applicable.
  • A practically hopeless situation if one of the listed factors is present, while the frame has a large bevel. In this case, the use of a mosquito net will not work at all.

Knowing how to properly measure a window for , You can choose the option that is convenient for you and get rid of insects in the house. You do not need to invite the master for measurements.

How to measure a plastic window to install a mosquito net

It is not uncommon for a mosquito net to be ordered some time after the windows have been installed. In fact, if new double-glazed windows were delivered in the autumn, it is quite possible to postpone the cost of a mosquito. But, when the owners still decide to order this necessary window accessory, they are faced with a problem. Manufacturers do not make standard grids. Each of them is made to order, strictly according to the size of the window.

In such a situation there is three options .

  • Order a mosquito in the same company that made your windows. Perhaps your order with size data remained in their archive.
  • Call a measurer to your house. This means a waste of time and the cost of paying for the departure of the master.
  • Measure the window for the mosquito net yourself.

The third option seems to be the most convenient. But before taking measurements, you need to know a few subtleties.

As a rule, frame mosquito nets are installed on plastic windows. They are fairly inexpensive and easy to make. Their design is simple - a fiberglass mesh with a cell of 1 mm is attached to an aluminum frame with a section of 10 * 25 mm. But these accessories differ in the installation method. Depending on the manufacturer, you may be offered different types of mosquitoes:

Before measuring the light opening, decide what type of mosquito you are going to order.

The plunger mount is considered the most effective and durable. The mesh frame is attached to the window with nickel-plated spring pins. They provide a snug fit of the structure and aesthetics outside and inside the room.

Z-mounts- the second most used option. Here, the mosquito structure is attached to the window frame using special metal brackets adjacent to the window seal. This mount is strong enough. But after a couple of years of use, the brackets can become loose and gaps will appear between the mesh frame and the window.

The third type of fastener - "pockets"- is used quite rarely, because it cannot provide a sufficiently snug fit for mosquito protection. The grid for this method is made with a margin for the width and height of the window opening. Here, for accurate measurements, it is still better to contact a specialist. In the other two cases, you are quite capable of calculating the dimensions of this product yourself.

To determine the size of the future mosquito net, you will need a tape measure. Open the window and measure the width and height of the skylight. Measurements must be made along the edge of the sealing gum, which is equipped with all plastic windows. Record the results accurately, down to the millimeter.

Product dimensions are calculated as follows:

To understand whether there is enough space around the frame to mount the mosquito, it is also necessary to take into account the installation depth of the window frame. If from the side of the sash it is too much under the quarter, it may be difficult to install the mesh. Installation will be difficult even if the slopes of the plastic window are made too close to the edge of the frame. Consider these factors when deciding on the type of grid. If the frame design does not allow the installation of z-mounts, you can order a mesh on the plungers.

Installing a mosquito net on pins is possible if the bevel of the outer ledge of your window frame does not have a round shape and too much angle. Since the spring pins are attached to the profile of the window frame itself, with a strong bevel, they will not be able to provide sufficient abutment of the parts.

To calculate the dimensions of the future grid, measure the height and width of the light opening, as in the previous case. Further, subtract 6 mm from the obtained dimensions. This is necessary to leave room for the sealing brush, which is mounted around the perimeter of the mesh frame during installation. You can report the received data to the office where you are going to place an order for a mosquito.

It makes sense to order frame nets for plastic windows only if the window sashes open into the apartment. For windows of other designs, there are other types of insect protection.

When taking measurements, take into account each millimeter division of the tape measure. For accessories with a z-mount, it is permissible to round the data, but only up. If the mosquito structure after installation will give a slight overlap on the frame from the outside, it's okay. The main thing is that it completely blocks the light opening, preventing access to insects, small debris and poplar fluff.

As you can see, you can measure a plastic window for installing a mosquito net yourself. If after reading the article you still do not understand any points, you can refer to one of the video instructions for taking measurements.

Petrenko Andrey Yurievich

Order mosquito nets with a full range of services (measuring, manufacturing and installation) is the most correct solution, since the probability of an error is minimized, but even if it does occur, then the entire responsibility falls on the shoulders of the seller company.

When buying only the product, you yourself take all measurements and install the mosquito net, and in this case, the responsibility for possible measurement or installation errors lies with your budget. The cost of anti-mosquitoes with this option is significantly reduced (on average by 350-400 rubles per square meter). With volumes of 1-5 sq.m, this difference in price will not be so significant, with larger orders (from 10 sq.m) savings of 3500 - 4000 rubles. and more will make a significant contribution to the family budget or save a decent amount for the company. But how to properly measure mosquito nets?

Our company offers two options for fastening m / s - external z-shaped and internal metal. In this article, we will try to explain in detail and in an accessible way what nuances you should pay attention to when taking measurements, in what cases one or another type of fastener is used, and also how to correctly calculate the size of a mosquito net, because. making out order mosquito nets, you must report EXACT NET SIZE AND TYPE OF FIXING .

Option 1: internal metal fittings.

Their main advantage is versatility. Regardless of how your PVC window is installed, you can almost always install a mosquito net on it with this type of fastener.

Before proceeding with the calculation of the dimensions m / s, we need to make sure that its installation will be possible. To do this, it is necessary that the distance from the outer slope to the edge of the frame overlap on the right and left (A and C in the first figure) be greater than or equal to 10 mm, and from above greater than or equal to 20 mm (D in the second figure). If so, then you can safely proceed to the measurements. First of all, we measure the light opening (the distance from overlap to overlap along the width and height of the letters B and E, respectively), then add 20 mm to these dimensions and get the finished size of the mosquito net.

For example, let's take a window block with a size of 1450X1450 mm divided in half. Depending on the profile system, the size of the light opening will vary. In our case (Brugmann profile system), the size of the light opening of one window sash is 620X1315 mm. We add 20 mm to each parameter and get the finished size of the mosquito net equal to 640X1335 mm. Thus, making out order mosquito nets in our company without installation, you will have to name the width and height of the mesh you need (in that order) and the type of fastening. Based on our example, it will look like this: Good afternoon. I want to place an order for a frame mosquito net with metal internal fasteners 640x1335 mm in size, without measurements and installation.

Option 2: external Z-shaped fasteners.

External fasteners are considered the most preferable, since the frame mosquito net is located on the outside of the window, and, therefore, the light opening is not reduced and the tightness of the first sealing circuit is not violated. The only drawback may be some restrictions on their use. The ideal option is when the distance from the outer slope to the overlay on the right and left should be at least 20 mm, and from the upper slope to the overlay at least 50 mm. Only at such distances the mosquito net will not occupy part of the light opening. If your window is still recessed into the opening and these parameters are smaller, and there is no desire to install metal fasteners (due to a violation of the tightness of the window), then you can install external fasteners, but
the light aperture will decrease by some amount. In this case, the minimum distances will be considered: on the right and on the left, 10 mm each, on top 30 mm, if the distances are even smaller, then only a specialist can determine the possibility of installation.

Now directly about the measurements. Initially, we measure the light opening, then, focusing on the rules below, we calculate the dimensions of the mosquito net.

A. the distance to the right and left is 25 mm, we add 36 mm to the width of the light opening;

B. the distance to the right and left is 20 mm, but 25 mm, we add 31 mm to the width of the light opening;

B. the distance to the right and left is 15 mm, but 20 mm, we add 26 mm to the width of the light opening;

D. the distance to the right and left is 10 mm, but 15 mm, we add 21 mm to the width of the light opening.

2. Mosquito net height:

A. if the distance is 50 mm, then add 50 mm to the height of the light opening;

B. if the distance is 40 mm, but 50 mm, then we add 45 mm to the height of the light opening;

B. if the distance is 30 mm, but 40 mm, then we add 35 mm to the height of the light opening.

An example of calculating the size of a mosquito net.

The light opening is 620X1335 mm, on the left is the impost (part of the window is 60 mm), on the right from the slope to the overlap is 17 mm, on top - 37 mm.

Since when calculating the dimensions of the mosquito net, the smallest of the available distances from the slope to the overlay is taken, in our case it will be 17 mm. Based on the first rule, 26 mm must be added to the width of the light opening. According to the second rule, 35 mm must be added to the height. Thus, the size of the mosquito net for installation on external mounts is 646x1370 mm, while the light opening will decrease by approximately 15 mm on each side.

We have considered the main nuances of measuring m / s, guided by our rules, you can independently calculate the dimensions of the product you need, order it from our company and install it, while saving up to 400 rubles per sq.m. If you doubt that you have correctly calculated the dimensions or that you can install external fasteners (because for this you need to lean out of the window), then you can always contact our company and order a mosquito net with measurements and installation by the company's masters. In this case, you are insured against any mistake, because. all responsibility falls on our specialists, you can safely continue to do household chores, and we will do what we have been doing for five years - the manufacture and installation of mosquito nets.

This manual is advisory in nature and applies only to mosquito nets produced by our company. In the case of ordering a mosquito net from the Golden Key company without measurements and installation, all responsibility for incorrect measurements, installation errors or size mismatches due to measurement errors lies with the customer.

The recommendations described in this article apply exclusively to profile systems with smooth rectangular or slightly rounded overlays (Aluplast, Brugmann, Rehau, Gealan, KBE, Viva, etc.). For PVC profiles with a sharp overlap bevel (Deceuninck, Thyssen, Foris, Roplasto, etc.), this instruction is not suitable. In this case, it is necessary to resort to the services of the company's specialists. In case it is necessary mosquito net replacement already existing, then the final size will be the size of the existing anti-mosquitoes.

How to measure and install a mosquito net?

Mosquito nets are an affordable and most effective way to protect your home from annoying insects. Installing a mosquito net allows you to avoid the use of fumigators and other chemicals to combat annoying insects.

The mosquito net also prevents the penetration of dirt and dust, poplar fluff (which is a powerful allergen) into the premises. A mosquito net will keep pets from falling out of an open window. The mosquito net is an aluminum frame, on which a mesh of glass fibers is stretched.

Types of mosquito nets

Frame mosquito nets– classic mosquito net design. A strong mesh is fixed on the aluminum profile, this design is inserted into the window opening. Such nets are convenient and practical, they are usually used if there is no need to constantly open the net. Depending on the method of fastening, they can be stationary and opening. Frame mosquito nets are recommended to be removed for the winter period for the longest possible life of the product. If a large mosquito net is needed, it is usually made with an additional reinforcing bar in the middle.

Door mosquito nets practically do not differ from frame grids, the design is also a lightweight aluminum profile. The main difference between frame and door mosquito nets is the size of the aluminum profile used. Door mosquito nets are larger. Handles are installed on the door mosquito nets for ease of use. Such grids are universal, they can be installed on entrance or attic doors, or on the doors of balconies and loggias.

Roller mosquito nets work on the principle of roller blinds, that is, if necessary, the mosquito net can be rolled into an aluminum box. The design of such a mosquito net includes a guide profile, a net in a roll and a cross bar with handles. Such mosquito nets are the most functional and easy to use. There is no need to completely remove the roller mosquito net for the winter, just twist it. Another advantage of such grids is the ability to close window openings of greater width. But, as a drawback #8212; such networks, unfortunately, are short-lived.

Mosquito net with Velcro or tape- the simplest mosquito net, which is mounted on the inside of the sash. If necessary, such a grid is very easily and quickly removed.

We measure the window under the mosquito net

Frame mosquito net on swivel z-mounts is the most popular option among customers. So, in order to independently measure the mosquito net, you need to take a tape measure, paper and a pen. Open the window sash where the mosquito net will be installed. Now we measure the light clearance of the frame in width and height.

Mosquito net width on swivel z-mounts will be equal to the frame clearance plus 20 mm.

Mosquito net height on swivel z-mounts will be equal to the height of the frame clearance plus 20 mm.

Mosquito net attachment types

Mosquito net plunger- the most expensive mosquito net mount, but also the most reliable and stable mount to high wind loads. The plunger is a special metal part with a spring that can be adjusted in length. Plunger fastening is universal for any types of windows.

Fastening "flag"#8212; fastening the mosquito net with small plastic hooks. This mount is less resistant to wind loads.

Mounting on swivel z-pieces- the most popular and reliable mount. Z-shaped elements must fit snugly against the frame, and are additionally fixed to it from the inside of the room.

Mounting on plastic corners. Such corners are located on the outside. This design does not interfere with the normal opening and closing of the window, and is also easily removed.

Mosquito net installation

Installation of a mosquito net on swivel z-mounts runs in this order.

1. We have a mosquito net fastening inside the room. Fasteners differ in the length of the hook. It is important that the fastener is located with a smaller hook to the bottom, a large one to the top, respectively.

2. It is necessary to take the grid by the side vertical handles. Which can be metal or plastic. We install the mesh in the window opening and start large hooks for the upper part of the frame. In this case, the grid must be raised to the maximum height. When you reach the maximum height, you will be able to place smaller hooks on the bottom edge of the window frame. Ready.

Mosquito net fastening with plastic corners differs in that the fasteners are installed on the window frame, and not on the grid as in the previous version.

1. It is necessary to make markings for plastic corners on the outside of the window frame.

2. We fix the plastic corners on the window frame with self-tapping screws.

3. Further installation is similar to the method of fastening with z-shaped elements (first the top edge, then the bottom).

It’s not worth talking about the purpose of the mosquito net once again, since everyone knows about it, but many begin to think about the advisability of installing it only when they spend a sleepless night in the neighborhood of blood-sucking insects or find hordes of flies in their home. The owners of houses with old wooden windows, as a rule, have no problems with how to fix the mesh on them - most often this is done very quickly using push pins or nails that nail the mesh through the glazing bead. The situation is somewhat different if metal-plastic windows and doors are installed in the house. The material in this article will help you figure out how to measure a mosquito net and how to install it.

Mesh measurements for a plastic window

In order to order a mosquito net for a plastic window, you need to measure the window opening. However, you need to think in advance about how it will be installed - inside or outside the frame. This affects not only the size of the mesh being made, but also the type of fastening that will be installed. If for the external fastening of the mesh frame it is still possible to allow small deviations in dimensions, then for the internal fastening every millimeter is important. A small frame will not fit tightly into the opening and there will be gaps for insects, while a large one simply cannot be installed and will have to be redone.

When ordering a mesh, the manager may ask what profile your window is made of. Many people are confused by this question. You can get this data by looking at the product data sheet.

You can also make a grid for the window with your own hands. It is clear that something similar to the factory design at home is unlikely to be done, but, nevertheless, the product will turn out to be attractive, and most importantly, it will protect against insects. This is a mosquito net with Velcro. For its manufacture you will need:

  1. Mosquito net.
  2. Self-adhesive Velcro.
  3. Threads in the color of the grid.
  4. Sewing machine.

If you do not have threads of the same color as the mesh, then you can choose the most suitable ones. Take small pieces of the thread you have and put them on the grid - which one will be the least noticeable, use that one.

The mesh should be slightly larger than the window opening - 1 cm on each side should be left for the gate. If you haven’t sewn on a sewing machine before, then it’s better to sew the Velcro to the mesh with a basting stitch, not forgetting about the hem - it should be under the Velcro, and then sew on the typewriter. A piece of Velcro without an adhesive backing is sewn to the mesh.

You can also sew the mesh manually, but then the aesthetic appearance will suffer, and it will take much more time to do it all.

Now you need one person to attach the mesh with Velcro sewn to the window, and the second to mark its edges on the frame with a pencil. Glue the rest of the self-adhesive Velcro on the marks. Now you can use it by fixing the grid in the place intended for it.

Mesh for swing doors

Insects enter the house not only through windows, but also through doors, whether they are entrance doors or leading to a balcony. How to measure the mesh on the door? As with the window, the doorway is measured along the inside. The fact is that the mosquito net on the door is essentially another door on which the net is stretched. Only it opens in the opposite direction from the main door and is held by magnets. For convenience, a small plastic handle is attached to it.

Newer developments also deserve attention. One of them is a rolled mosquito net.

This is one of the latest inventions. The folding mechanism is the same as that of roller shutters, therefore, when raised, the mesh does not interfere with anyone and is practically invisible, since everything is hidden in a box located above the door.

Pleated mesh option also deserves attention.

Such a grid moves horizontally, while gathering into an accordion. Pleated can become a decoration if a pattern is applied to it.

Pleated and roll mesh is not easy to install on your own, so it is better to entrust measurements and installation to a specialist.

The above nets are inconvenient to use with frequent passage through the door. In addition, if the hands are busy, then it is not easy to close them, so for some time the insects have the opportunity to freely enter the room.

In this case, a mosquito net with magnets would be the most acceptable option. The principle of its operation is based on the fact that the canvas is divided into two parts, and magnets are sewn along the inner edge. Even with a slight pressure, the mesh opens, but after the passage of a person, the edges close again under the action of the force of attraction of the magnets. It is important to measure the length of such a grid so that it is not only not short, but also not too long, otherwise the edges will cling to the floor and the sashes will not be able to fully close.

Sliding Door Mesh

Now more and more often you can find sliding doors instead of conventional ones. It is quite clear that such a mechanism is not suitable for every front door, especially in apartments, but you need to put a sliding mesh on a sliding loggia. In the absence of skills to perform this kind of work, it is better to entrust the matter to a specialist.

Usually the cost of a mosquito net is calculated by the number of m 2. If you know the dimensions of the mesh, you can approximately find out its cost in advance.

If the work is done by a master, then the final price can be 2 times higher.

This video shows how to measure and independently make a mosquito net for a metal-plastic window.

When installing plastic windows, many people seek to save on mosquito nets, especially if installation is carried out in the fall. Also, there are breakdowns of the frame of an existing product. In any case, when the period of insect activity begins, it becomes necessary to acquire a saving barrier.

Mosquitoes are rarely standardized in size, since the dimensions of the installed plastic windows are individual. For this reason, the following solutions to the problem are possible:

  1. Order a mosquito net from the company where the windows were ordered.
  2. Call an engineer for measurements, which will take some time and require additional costs.
  3. Measure the mosquito net on the plastic window yourself.

The most convenient option is self-measurement.

Types of fasteners for mosquito nets

Structurally, mosquito nets have a simple structure: a fiberglass net with a 1 mm cell, fixed on an aluminum frame. But these products are different in the way they are installed.

Mesh attachment may vary depending on the manufacturer and can be of the following types:

  • Plunger. The most popular type of attachment, which is considered the most durable and effective. The frame of the mosquito net is fixed using spring-loaded pins, which provide a reliable and tight fixation of the mosquito.
  • Z-shaped. This type is considered the second most popular. In this case, the mosquito is attached to the window frame using special metal brackets that provide a snug fit. The fasteners are quite reliable, but over time it can loosen, which will lead to the appearance of cracks.
  • "Pockets". Such fasteners are used quite rarely, since they do not provide a snug fit of the mesh to the window frame. In this case, measurements are performed with a margin.

Measurements for meshes with plunger fastening

The installation of such a grid is possible if the outer bevel of the window frame does not have a rounded shape or too large an angle of inclination, otherwise the groove for the pin will not ensure reliable fixation of the product.

You will need a tape measure to measure the window. It is necessary to open the window sash and measure the light opening. The measurement is carried out along the edge of the seal, which is installed on all plastic windows. Results must be recorded to the nearest millimeter. From the resulting width and height, 6 mm must be subtracted to provide enough space for installing the mosquito frame.

Measuring for z-mounted meshes

The calculation of dimensions for this type of mesh is carried out similarly to the previous one, but 20 millimeters must be added to the measurement results obtained.

When using such grids, it must be taken into account that it is mounted outside the window, therefore, there must be enough space for installation. Difficulties during installation can be caused by closely spaced slopes or a window grill mounted near the window. In such cases, it is recommended to use a mesh with a plunger fastening.

Measurements for nets with fastening in "pockets"

Previously, this type of fastening was the most common, however, more effective fastener methods have replaced it. Plastic "pockets" are mounted outside the window at the corners of the light opening. Such fasteners are not able to ensure a snug fit of the mesh to the window frame, therefore it is not recommended for use.

If, nevertheless, there is a need to use this particular fastener, then the measurements of the opening are carried out in the same way as in the case of the z-mount.

Like many window accessories, mosquito nets are not always purchased with plastic windows and mounted on them at the same time as installation. If the purchase of windows occurs during the cold season, then the owners often prefer to save money by postponing the purchase of nets until the “better” warm times. In principle, this is quite reasonable, if not for one "but" - mosquito nets are not produced on a stream and do not have standard dimensions. Each grid must be ordered individually, providing the manufacturer with the exact dimensions of the window structures.

When buying a grid separately from a window, you can act in three different ways:

  • Contact the company that manufactured and installed your windows for the manufacture of an accessory - for some time, firms store drawings of completed orders, so there is a chance that they have preserved the dimensions of your windows.
  • Invite a measuring specialist to take measurements again - the service costs money, and besides, the specialist does not always arrive at a convenient time.
  • Measuring the dimensions of the window yourself is the most convenient and inexpensive option, but it requires certain knowledge, which we will discuss in more detail.

What types of networks exist?

Most often, frame-type mosquito nets are installed on the outside of standard plastic windows. The design of these nets provides for the presence of a frame - an aluminum frame, to which a stack of fiberglass material is attached. The thickness of the frame is 10*25mm, and the size of the cells does not exceed 1mm.

In turn, frame mosquito nets are attached to windows in different ways and are divided into three types: plunger, pocket and nets with a Z-type mount. Before taking dimensions for the manufacture of the mesh, it is necessary to determine how it will be attached to the base.

Features of fasteners of various types

Plunger mount is considered the most reliable and durable for the installation of grids for a long time. The mesh frame is attached to the window frame with the help of special pins with springs, which provide a tight pressing of the structure. Nets attached in this way look aesthetically pleasing and neat.

pocket mount- it is used extremely rarely, as it does not press the mesh tightly against the window and leaves large gaps through which insects can enter the room. When choosing this method of fastening, the frame with the mesh is made slightly larger than the dimensions of the double-glazed window and its edges are tucked into special plastic "pockets" located at the corners of the window frame.

Z-type mount- along with a plunger, a common installation option for mosquito nets, ensuring its good fit to the window. The frame structure in this case is held by special metal brackets located close to the window seal. Z-shaped fasteners must be tightened regularly, otherwise they become loose and tangible gaps appear between the window and the mesh.

When choosing a plunger or Z-shaped mount, it is easy to determine the dimensions of the stack yourself, but it is better to entrust the calculation of the dimensions of the mesh with a pocket mount to a specialist.

How to Dimension a Z-Mount Mesh

Z-Mount Mesh

In order to independently measure the size of a mosquito net with any type of attachment, you need to acquire a construction tape measure.

In the manufacture of a structure with Z-mounts, it is required to determine what width and height the window opening has. The parameters must be determined with the sash open, focusing on the edges of the seal laid along the perimeter of the frame. It is important to measure the height and width as accurately as possible and write down the result in millimeters.

The width and height are calculated using the following formulas:

  • Mesh height = opening h (mm) + 20 mm.
  • Mesh width = b opening (mm) + 20 mm.

You also need to find out if the depth of the window box is enough to install the grid. From the side of the sash, the box should not go much beyond the quarter, and the slopes of the window itself should be located in close proximity to the edge. If the characteristics of the window do not allow you to install a mosquito with Z-mounts on it, then order a product with plunger fasteners.

How to take measurements for plunger mesh

The only limitation for installing insect screens on plastic windows with plungers is a rounded bevel of the sash frame from the outside or too strong an angle of inclination. Both options are unacceptable for fixing with pins for the reason that their shape does not allow the elements to be tightly pressed against each other.

For the manufacture of mesh with a plunger fastening, the height and width of the opening are measured according to the same principle as in the case of Z-fasteners. However, further, millimeters are not added to the dimensions, but subtracted - 6 mm each. from each side. This is done in order to leave room for the sealing brushes, which are fixed along the edge of the mosquito net frame. Reduced dimensions and reported to the company that will manufacture the mosquito accessory.

Subtleties that are important to know when placing an order

Mosquito frame nets are installed only on plastic hinged windows that open inwards. For other designs, there are rolled, sliding, Velcro, pleated, etc. nets.

Measurement accuracy should be high - up to a millimeter. Values can be rounded only for grids with Z-mounts and only upwards. If such a grid goes a little beyond the level of the beginning of the frame from the side of the street, it will be almost imperceptible. Its main task is to completely close the window opening and prevent insects and debris from entering the room.

In principle, there should not be any difficulties with measuring the dimensions of a window for installing a mosquito net. However, if you misunderstood something, or are not sure that you understood correctly, watch one of the video instructions posted on our website.
