Ficus is a home doctor. Many people know this plant, which lives, as a rule, in spacious lobbies, in bright shop windows, in large reading rooms, where there is a lot of light and air. However, rubber-bearing ficus (Ficus elastica) is also found in old cozy "professor's" apartments. Large thick glossy leaves on fleshy petioles adorn this majestic plant, but ficus is not only remarkable for its appearance, it turns out that it has many healing properties along with aloe, Kalanchoe and other homemade "healers". Ficus comes from Latin America and the locals treat it in much the same way as we treat the presence of plantain or calendula in the front garden (where the ficus grows right on the street) - they don’t notice until they “itch”. Moreover, the mere presence of ficus near a person already prevents the appearance of tumors, dropsy, accelerates the healing of purulent wounds and the removal of excess fluid from the body. Two centuries ago, scientists established the healing properties of ficus: it has an antitumor, tonic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, stimulates lactation. Ficus juice and tincture of its leaves are used in the treatment of many diseases. Ficus tincture for joint diseases Grind one medium leaf of ficus in a meat grinder and pour ½ cup of vodka, keep in a sealed container for two weeks, in a dark, cool place. Strain the resulting tincture through several layers of gauze and keep in a dark or opaque container in the refrigerator. Before use, it is recommended to slightly warm the tincture by lowering the bottle of tincture into hot water. How to use the tincture. Shortly before sleep, take a moderately hot salt bath (200-300 g for the entire volume of the bath), then thoroughly rub the sore joints with ficus tincture and wrap it in a warm scarf or wool scarf. Do this every day for ten days. Ficus ice candles for hemorrhoids How to make ice candles: First, put on candle molds. To do this, take an ordinary pencil and wrap it halfway with foil, remove the form from the pencil and twist one end of the foil. The container is ready. Then you need ficus juice, to get it, just twist a few ficus leaves through a meat grinder. Then mix clean boiled water with filtered ficus juice in a ratio of 2: 1, mix and carefully pour into prepared foil molds, place them securely in a cup or glass and freeze. How to use ice candles: Immediately before use, dip the candle in warm water and remove the foil. Make sure that the end of the candle inserted into the anus is not sharp. The first days (three or four) the insertion of a candle will be accompanied by rather painful sensations. The first time you need to leave the candle for ten seconds, each time increasing the time. It is necessary to treat hemorrhoids with ice candles for at least 8-10 days. Ficus juice from hemorrhoids Moisten a small square piece of bandage in freshly squeezed juice, roll it into a turunda and carefully insert it into the anus, leaving it there overnight. Continue treatment with ficus for ten days. Ficus from boils and boils Boil the ficus leaf in boiling water until softened, put gruel from the fresh ficus leaf ground in a meat grinder on the still hot leaf. Wait until the mass warms up slightly, and the boiled leaf cools down a little. Then put on boils and fix with a bandage. In the morning, inflammation is usually removed, pain and redness disappear. Repeat the procedure the next night - the ficus will draw out the pus during this time. In some ways, this method resembles the treatment of abscesses with baked onions, but Latinos claim that ficus is more effective. Ficus treats bronchitis and tracheitis And here we can trace an analogy with the treatment of bronchi and trachea in Russia. If in our country, to alleviate the condition, they smear a boiled cabbage leaf with honey, apply it to the chest and tie it with a warm scarf for the night, then in Guatemala, for example, they apply a boiled ficus leaf. It, like cabbage, is able to draw phlegm from the lungs and soften the cough. You need to cook a ficus leaf for at least three minutes, I think that if you smear it with honey, the effect will become even more noticeable. Even if you don’t like to have such a monumental plant at home as an ordinary ficus, you can purchase its compact forms - ‘Nana’, ‘Bambino’. Their healing properties are no less than those of their older brother - rubber ficus ..

Ficuses are plants that have long "settled" in the houses and apartments of most flower growers. The unpretentiousness of many species has allowed even inexperienced and novice gardeners to grow this plant without any problems. Large and small - they will decorate even a winter garden, even a small apartment. Considering that ficuses can form a crown at their discretion, as well as create hedges from them, braid them in the most unusual way, you can’t argue with their originality and sophistication.

Experts convince that there would be more fans of rubber or other types of these plants if people knew for sure whether the ficus is poisonous or not. It is interesting that many who already have flowers of such a plan do not even think about it, but in vain, since it is still necessary to know.

Ficus poisonous or not

For a long time, people could not find out for sure about the poisonousness or non-toxicity of a flower. However, not so long ago, having come to grips with this issue, experts still managed to prove for sure the fact that the ficus is a poisonous plant. True, you should not panic in advance and get rid of the flower.

To begin with, it must be said that experienced gardeners recommend that beginners, when “working” with ficus, be sure to wear gloves. Few people know, but ficus elastica juice contains about 40% rubber. This means that when milk gets on unprotected skin, various allergic reactions can occur. The dermis begins to itch, tingle. In special cases, even blisters appear on the skin. However, when working with gloves, none of this will happen. Therefore, there is no reason for concern and panic.

The only caveat is that the opinions of doctors as to whether to keep the rubber-bearing ficus in a house where there are allergies or not to keep differ. Some experts say that people who are allergic to latex should generally stay away from the flower. This is due to the fact that the juice from the plant can be released not only during transplantation, pruning, crown formation, but also at the time of damage, as well as ficus disease. Say, allergy sufferers smell irritants a mile away, as a result of which their well-being worsens. This is partly true, but only partly. An allergic person can keep a flower in the kitchen or corridor, and during the release of juice, put on a special mask, process the cut with chiselled coal to stop the secretion of milk. After that, you should wash your face thoroughly, wash your hands well and forget about your allergies.
Therefore, it makes no sense to deny yourself the joy of holding flowers that you like, since this will not affect allergies in any way.

Important! Allergy sufferers while “working” with ficuses need to adhere to increased safety rules so as not to “wake up” the allergen.

Is ficus poisonous to animals

Animals are pretty smart creatures. However, not always young cats, dogs, hamsters and others can see the danger lurking in a flower. For pets, ficus is poisonous, as well as for people. You need to understand that a person simply touches the milky juice with his hands (if he touches it), and the animal tastes it.

Therefore, it is best to put such plants somewhere on furniture where pets do not have access. Although, as practice shows, animals practically do not show interest in this flower. The reason is that in most species the leaf plates are dense, sinewy, while in some, on the contrary, they are small and inconspicuous. Neither cats nor dogs are interested in such plants.

Ficus and children

With older children, everything is clear, they are more interested in computer games than some indoor flowers, which cannot be said about the kids. For a small child, everything is interesting. He absolutely does not care what to touch with his hands or take in his mouth. The plant does not carry a mortal danger, but they can be poisoned.

Important! The ficus pot must be kept away from young children.

Some gardeners, if they have a flower growing in large tubs, put them in the bathroom for a while or hide them in some corner where the kids have no access.

Of course, Benjamin's ficus and other specimens "will not be happy" with the rearrangement, but given that this is a forced and temporary measure, nothing bad will happen to the flower.

What are the benefits of the plant

Many may think that since the leaves are toxic, juice is released from them, which causes allergies, which means that there can be nothing good in the plant. This is not true. Ficus is in great demand in folk medicine. In some countries (in the homeland of the flower), a large number of various medicinal tinctures are made from it. Moreover, the most valuable is that which is poisonous - ficus juice.

The flower allows you to cope with

  • vascular diseases;
  • intestinal disorders;
  • lung ailments;
  • warts, corns and wen;
  • hemorrhoids.

Ficus is also in great demand in industrial sectors.

It is made from:

  • fructose;
  • tinctures;
  • rubber;
  • construction material
  • medicines;
  • coarse fabric
  • glucose;
  • animal feed.

Despite the fact that the ficus is poisonous, people still try to buy this flower. Many do not know, but interesting points are associated with this plant.

They are the following:

  • Ficus has long been called the "family flower". Women were sure that the plant that appeared promises replenishment in the family. Even today, girls associate their interesting position with the appearance of sprouts on a plant. The reason may be that ficus contains phytohormones. And these substances have a beneficial effect on the reproductive system.
  • Ficus, placed in the bedroom, will allow you to forget about insomnia. If the plant is installed in the kitchen, then financial well-being will await the owners.
  • Scientists have proven that ficus trees are good at transforming negative emotions into positive ones. This is due to the fact that the flower absorbs formaldehyde well. A similar colorless gas is given off by plastic and plastic, which cause a lot of unpleasant moments.
  • Ficus brings happiness and health. Not only does this plant purify the air well, it also improves the aura of the house - many esotericists believe so. Putting it in your home, you can protect yourself from envy and anger.

Having figured out whether the ficus is poisonous or not, everyone has the right to decide for himself whether to buy him a similar type of flower or look at something else.

Only one thing can be said for sure - it is not important whether the ficus is poisonous, but how to handle it. Taking care of the flower properly and observing the most elementary precautions, the plant will not do any harm.

Ficus is one of the most useful and unpretentious house plants. It cleans the air very well in the room and has a positive effect on well-being.

Previously, people believed that ficus absorbs negativity and cleanses the atmosphere in the house of anxiety. If you want to bring good luck and abundance to your home, you should get Benjamin's ficus (ficus with small leaves).

Ficus is also used in the treatment of coughs and colds. A tincture of the leaves is used to treat rheumatism, arthritis and arthrosis. This plant helps even in the treatment of hemorrhoids.

I am very sorry that this beautiful plant has practically ceased to be bred in modern apartments. All my childhood passed under the shadow of such a cozy ficus. As soon as my little brother and I did not mock the meek tree, we cut the leaves with scissors, made rafts and boats from them, even built huts. And it only grew lush green and threw out even more new shoots.

Somehow fate threw me into one of the towns of Costa Rica. In some square, I saw a ficus and was delighted with him as an old friend. Local

told me about the miraculous healing properties of the plant. Later, I studied them thoroughly myself.

Ficus has a wide range of pharmacological effects on the body. Ficus juice and tincture of its leaves treat many diseases.

Many people know that an ordinary cabbage leaf helps with bronchitis. It is dipped into boiling water for several minutes, then smeared with linden honey and applied to the chest area, covered with a warm scarf on top. The ficus leaf has the same properties as the cabbage leaf, and they are used in the same way. For example, I believe that it acts even more efficiently than cabbage.

Ficus has pronounced antitumor properties. In the same Costa Rica, mastopathy is treated with ficus - hardening in the mammary glands. To do this, put lotions from the gruel of leaves and drink its juice.

To prepare juice, 2-3 leaves are passed through a meat grinder, squeezed. Honey can be added to the resulting juice to taste. You need to store this medicine in the refrigerator. Take 1 teaspoon once a day in the morning or evening before meals for 7 days, then take a break for two weeks and repeat the course.

With benign

mastopathy

In addition, ficus tincture can be used externally. To prepare it, pour 2-3 finely chopped leaves into 200 ml of vodka and insist for two weeks in a cold place. Then strain, add 1 tbsp. a spoonful of honey and an egg yolk. Mix the mixture thoroughly (preferably with a mixer) and store in the refrigerator, but no more than two weeks. (The resulting volume is calculated for the entire course of treatment.)

It is necessary to take a little tincture in the palm of your hand and gently rub it into the skin over the place where hardening is felt. After the procedure, put a warm cloth on the sore spot and fix it with a bandage or put on warm underwear. But before you self-medicate, you must definitely be examined to exclude a malignant process, when an urgent operation is required, and consult your doctor about the “ficus treatment”.

With seals in the area of \u200b\u200bthe mammary gland and at the injection site, the application of ficus gruel with honey helps. It is necessary to pass a ficus leaf through a meat grinder, add 1 teaspoon of honey, a little flour and knead the cakes. Put them on the problem areas at night and fix with a bandage. The course of treatment is 7 days, after a two-week break it can be repeated if necessary.

Ficus also has an antiviral effect, so it is successfully used in the fight against

warts

In order to remove these formations, ficus leaves must be insisted on apple or ordinary table vinegar. A medium-sized leaf passed through a meat grinder, pour 50 ml of vinegar and infuse in a dark glass dish in a cool place for 10 days. The resulting infusion is filtered through a double layer of gauze. Apply a cotton swab soaked in it to

and fix with adhesive tape. Keep no longer than 5-10 minutes, so as not to burn the skin.

hemorrhoids

“ficus” candles give a good effect. Squeeze the juice from several ficus leaves passed through a meat grinder and add clean boiled water to it (for 1 tablespoon of juice, 2 tablespoons of water). Mix thoroughly and pour into small homemade foil molds. Set the molds in a cup and send to the freezer.

Before use, to remove the foil, dip the candle in warm water. The first 3-4 days, insert the candle carefully, no longer than 10 seconds. Then gradually increase the time. The course of treatment is 7-10 days.

You can also moisten a piece of bandage in freshly squeezed ficus juice, roll a tampon out of it, carefully insert it into the anus and leave it overnight. The course of treatment is 10 days.

sciatica osteochondrosis

Arthritis use rubbing tincture of ficus leaves on vodka.

To prepare the tincture, pass one medium-sized ficus leaf through a meat grinder, pour 100 ml of vodka, insist in a dark, cool place for two weeks. Then filter through cheesecloth and store in a dark glass container in the refrigerator.

Before going to bed, take a moderately hot (39 ° C) bath with table salt (200 g for a full bath), then rub the sore spots with heated (under running hot water) ficus tincture and tie it with a warm woolen scarf. The course of treatment is 10 days.
