  5. Cover the inside of the tires with gravel or broken bricks, as well as the free space between them. At the same time, the space inside the tires is filled by 85 percent. It should also be remembered that the use of sand as a filling material is undesirable. This can cause shrinkage of the base and deformation of the main building.
  6. Waterproofing material is laid on top of the tires; most often at this stage, roofing felt or linoleum sheets are used.
  7. Formwork is installed around the perimeter of the resulting base, using pre-prepared boards or plywood. It is best to put together panels from these materials; this will facilitate both the assembly of the formwork structure and its dismantling. The formwork should have a height of 10-15 centimeters.
  8. Inside the formwork, metal reinforcement bars connected into a mesh with a certain cell size are laid directly on the waterproofing layer. In this case, the rods must be connected using soft wire; welding is not recommended in this case. Reinforcement with a metal frame will make the base more durable and reliable.
  9. The entire structure is filled with concrete mortar, for the production of which high-quality cement, fine sifted sand and tap water are used.
  10. The concrete is carefully leveled and left to dry completely.
  11. The formwork structure is dismantled.

Columnar foundation made from car tires

A columnar base made from used car tires is resistant to any ground movement, which makes it possible to use it in regions with high seismic activity.

To independently build a columnar foundation from tires, you can use the following scheme:

  1. At the construction site, a foundation pit is prepared; its depth should not exceed 40 cm. The bottom is carefully leveled and compacted using a manual device.
  2. Set up a waterproofing cushion of sand or fine crushed stone and compact it thoroughly.

  1. Car tires, the size depends on what kind of structure will be built. I took it from trucks, Gaz-66, Kamaz, Gaz-53, I even got one from a laptist.
  2. Geotextiles, very little of it is needed, it is placed inside the tire before filling it with soil
  3. Any filler, sand, ASG, clay, or a mixture of them, as an option, whatever is available on the site.
  4. A shovel, something like this, preferably with a heavy handle - will be used as a tamper
  5. Tamping, if the shovel has a simple handle
  6. A car jack, and several bars as long as the spread beads of a tire.
  7. A pair, or several pairs, of strong hands)))

This is a complete set for building a foundation.

Now the actual process itself. I’ll tell you how I did it, many builders used different methods, but it all boils down to the fact that this method is the simplest, you can find others by searching the Internet.


What can you do with such a base?

As an option, you can fill the covers with sand and make a cap in the form of a plinth. It can be finished with stone siding, which will turn out very impressive. But this is only if you make an insulated floor. If you plan to organize a warm underground floor, then I recommend doing what I will do.

Before filling the sawdust, waterproofing will be laid on the ground to prevent moisture from penetrating into the sawdust, and geotextiles will be nailed to the outer wall and in a circle to the inner wall of the house to prevent sawdust from scattering.

The use of breathable material in the basement is important to regulate the humidity in the underground during the winter. It is not necessary to completely isolate air movement with a vapor barrier.
