How much does a square meter of profiled sheet weigh. Profiled sheet weight: determination of the mass of different types of sheets. What is corrugated board made from?

The professional flooring is the demanded construction material used for formation of a qualitative roofing covering on a roof. Before buying it, all its parameters are evaluated in order to select the optimal material. Particular attention is paid to the weight of the corrugated board, as it is important that the coating does not exert a significant load on the walls of the house.

Material Features

Important! Profiled sheet is an affordable, popular, practical and attractive roofing material, formed using rolled steel of small thickness, represented by rectangular sheets.

During its manufacture, a special press is certainly used, due to which a trapezoidal profile is squeezed out on the sheet. For its production, galvanized steel is used, and on top it is necessarily covered with polymers or various protective paint and varnish compositions.

Important! On the market you can find profiled sheets that are load-bearing, wall or universal, and they have significant differences in cost, specific gravity and other parameters, read more about.

The advantages of using profiled sheets include:

  • low weight of corrugated board, which is less than other materials intended for the formation of the roof, therefore, the cost of transportation and the formation of the rafter system are reduced;
  • the weight of the profiled sheet per 1 m2, which is often used no more than 10 kg;
  • long service life due to the resistance of the coating to corrosion, temperature changes, mold and decay;
  • the material is reliable and durable due to its good bearing capacity, so even a significant load from snow will not cause the destruction of the coating;
  • ease and efficiency, so the roof can be covered with this material by any owner with their own hands, and for this you do not need to use specialized tools.

Important! Due to the fact that the metal profile has a small mass, with its help a light roof is obtained, ideally suited for various structures.

Weight of the most popular grades of material

The profiled sheet is considered universal, therefore it can be used for residential buildings, temporary buildings, garages or other buildings. It may have a polymer coating or a protective layer of paint. It has different thicknesses and other parameters, therefore, before choosing specific sheets, it is recommended to carefully study their properties. This is especially true for their weight per square meter. Since there are many types of profiled sheet, it is required to evaluate the characteristics of each variety.

Wall profiled sheet

The weight of the wall profiled sheet depends on its thickness, so if the thickness is 0.45 mm, then the weight of the sheet per 1 sq. m. is 4.52 kg, but with a thickness of 0.7 mm, this figure is 6.78 kg.

Bearing corrugated board

It has a high bearing capacity, therefore it is chosen for the construction of strong and durable hangars, pavilions or similar structures.

For its manufacture, special steel blanks are used, the thickness of which varies from 0.7 to 1 mm. The weight also depends on the thickness, so if it is 0.7 mm, then the mass will be 8.67 kg/m2, and if it is 1 mm, then the mass will be 17.17 kg/m2.

Universal corrugated board

The weight of universal corrugated board is required to be determined most often. It is he who is used in the process of forming roofing on various buildings. It is presented in numerous brands, and each is used under certain conditions. When choosing a specific brand, the thickness of the sheet and operating conditions are taken into account.

Criteria for the correct choice of corrugated board

Experts say that the thicker the profiled sheet is purchased, the higher the reliability it has.

Important! The material of significant thickness has good resistance to the corrosion process, withstands significant loads from wind and snow, so it can be used in difficult conditions for a long time.

For the right choice of high-quality roofing material, important criteria are taken into account:

  • Sheet thickness. The larger it is, the more heavy and reliable the profiled sheet will be. It is advisable to choose an average indicator so that the loads on the rafter system and the structure as a whole are small, but at the same time the sheets cope well with various influences.
  • Metal consumption. The parameters and composition of the steel used to create the material directly affects the weight of the sheet, so it is recommended to carefully study the quality of the available material before purchasing it directly. It is advisable to focus on the purchase of a premium steel grade, as this will positively affect the service life and quality of the coating.
  • Wave height. The higher it is, the greater the mass and bearing capacity of the profiled sheet. The high profile additionally reduces the useful area of the material, which leads to an increase in its consumption in the process of forming the roofing.
  • The presence of anti-corrosion coating. It ensures the resistance of the sheets to the corrosion process, but at the same time significantly increases the weight of the roofing.

Thus, when choosing a material, it is necessary to take into account many different criteria that allow you to get a really high-quality and durable coating, read more:.

Modern construction is difficult to imagine without innovative methods using advanced technologies and materials. Not so long ago, a universal material appeared on the market - a profiled sheet, which immediately became in demand in all areas of construction. It is used both for reconstruction and for the construction of new buildings and structures. When designing, as well as for carrying out repair work, it is important to know the strength characteristics and weight of the profiled sheet.

Main advantages of profiled sheet

The material is used both for the construction of private households and for industrial enterprises. Profiled sheet is used for:

  • repair or installation of a new roof;
  • manufacture of prefabricated buildings and structures, partitions, pavilions, etc.;
  • construction of frame structures;
  • for facing gates and gates;
  • during the reconstruction of buildings that have lost their appearance;
  • fencing of private and industrial facilities;
  • ceiling linings;
  • production of sandwich panels;
  • construction of light storage facilities.

The versatility of the material is due not only to its low cost. The metal profile combines strength properties, lightness of the material, ease of installation.

The functionality of the building material is due:

  • durability;
  • good strength characteristics;
  • ease of installation and low weight;
  • attractive design;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • availability, ease of storage and transportation.

Weight of the most popular brands of corrugated board

The main parameters of the metal profile are important both in the reconstruction of buildings and structures, and in the design of newly erected buildings. One of the main parameters is the weight of the corrugated board.

But for each profile, it has its own meaning. Mass is affected by several factors.:

  • the thickness of the sheet metal from which the profile is made;
  • brand of corrugated board;
  • coating or paint material.

The main parameter affecting the weight of a corrugated sheet is the thickness of the metal. In reference books and the Internet you can find tables where the dimensions and weight are indicated. This parameter is very important when designing objects..

If this characteristic is insignificant when calculating the fence, then it is impossible to calculate the roof without this parameter. It is important for calculating the loads on the truss system..

It should be borne in mind that the weight of a galvanized sheet is heavier than a painted sheet with the same thickness of corrugated board.

In the painted sheet, the thickness has the structure:

  1. metal base, often made of galvanized steel;
  2. a protective coating that ensures good adhesion of the paint to the galvanized surface;
  3. decorative coating.

Painted material is used where aesthetic appearance is important. Polymer coating can be inexpensive polyester or expensive pural.

The weight of a galvanized sheet is determined only by the thickness of the metal.

The industry produces various types of corrugated board. They are labeled according to their purpose.:

  • "C" - designed for fencing and wall mounting (wall);
  • "H" - used for structures that can withstand significant loads (bearing);
  • "NS" - multifunctional material (universal).

They are produced on a production line with a continuous process by cold rolling from standard rolled metal. Workers set the required dimensions and set up profile shapes that have a large assortment. What is the reason for the variety of types of corrugated board?

Wall profiled sheet

It is used for the manufacture of fences, partitions, filing ceilings, building cladding, as a roofing material. However, it should be borne in mind that the lack of rigidity of the sheets is compensated by a continuous crate and a large angle of inclination of the truss system.

It is well suited for beautifying buildings. If the building is not warm enough, then a heater is mounted under it. A galvanized profile, or painted white, is used for filing ceilings, making partitions at industrial facilities to highlight separate rooms.

Multi-colored is suitable for the construction of small pavilions, fencing territories. The fence, made of painted profiled sheet, has an attractive appearance on both sides.

The most common are five or six types of wall material. It is marked depending on the size of the profile C-8, C-10, C-15, C-18, C-21, C-44. For example, C-10 corrugated board has a profile height of 10 mm, and C-21 - 21 mm, etc. Thus, the marking indicates the height of the trapezoid.

The working width of the sheet from different manufacturers is not the same and this should be paid attention to.

The length of the sheet is determined by the standards and ranges from 0.5 meters to 12 meters.

Bearing corrugated board

It is used on objects where the increased strength characteristics are required. Used for making:

  • Formwork, while it is not removed, which gives additional rigidity to the structure.
  • Interfloor ceilings, which are affected by constant dynamic and static loads.
  • Roofs. Due to the increased strength and thickness of the metal sheet, a lightweight truss system is being built. This design allows you to not arrange the crate at all. Runs are mounted along the rafters in increments of 0.8–1 meter. This makes it possible to significantly reduce the cost of the roof.
  • Warehouse premises. Often erect granaries, warehouses, production shops, workshops.

The material has not only high strength characteristics, but also is resistant to adverse conditions. Galvanization in combination with a polymer coating increases the service life of the product up to 25 years, and indoors this material can last even longer.

Increased resistance to precipitation, chemical attack and long service life, allows you to use it in the construction of industrial premises. In this case, the material has a small mass.

So, the H-75-0.6 corrugated board has a trapezoid height of 75 mm, with a galvanizing thickness of 0.6 mm, and the weight of 1 m 2 meter is 9.8 kg. Weight with a thickness of 0.8 mm - 11.2 kg.

Additional strength is provided by a stiffener rolled on top of the trapezoid. When reconstructing the roof of a building covered with asbestos-cement material, recalculation of the load-bearing beams is not required. Since the mass of 1 m 2 of asbestos-cement coating is much greater than the mass of the profiled sheet.

Universal corrugated board

It is most in demand and used in private and industrial construction.

Used as a building material for:

  • Fencing of the territories of organizations, transshipment bases, cottages and summer cottages. The fence has an aesthetic appearance. The strength of the sheets allows you not to be afraid of strong gusts of wind.
  • Formwork installation, as well as roofing material (with a thickness of 0.6 mm or more). At the same time, the appearance and quality are not inferior to the carrier rolled metal.
  • Installation of walls of warehouses and industrial premises. Due to the low mass of corrugated board, the load on the support posts and the base is reduced.
  • Objects under construction. The color is standardized and corresponds to the RAL catalog. This applies to all brands of corrugated board.

Its versatility allows it to be used in all areas of construction. It has increased strength, which is combined with a low weight per square meter of corrugated board.

The table shows the technical characteristics of the dependence of the weight of a square meter and running meter, on the thickness of the material.

GOST 24045-94 corrugated board weight table

The professional flooring is the material most applied in construction. In fact, profiled flooring is a sheet of galvanized metal coated with a polymer film and having a relief profile. At its core, a profiled sheet is a thin sheet of metal with extruded longitudinal recesses. Thanks to the profile, the sheet acquires rigidity, which allows it not to vibrate, sag or sag. These properties make it possible to use this building material to give spatial strength without the use of an additional frame. Profiled sheet, or as it is sometimes called, corrugated sheet is manufactured in the factory. The video below will give you an idea of the production process.

  • durability;
  • strength;
  • ease of installation;
  • low weight;
  • ease of storage and transportation;
  • design;
  • environmental friendliness.

Varieties of corrugated board

This building material is distinguished by the type of application and by the polymer material with which the sheet is covered. The marking uses letter designations indicating the main area of application: “C” - wall, “H” - bearing, and “NS” - bearing-wall. Wall profiled sheet is used for cladding the facades of buildings and structures, erecting fences and as a roofing. The small thickness of the metal facilitates and speeds up installation. Bearing corrugated board is used as floor and ceiling cladding and interfloor coating and in the construction of ceilings. This sheet is often used in the construction of garages, hangars, prefabricated industrial premises. The load-bearing wall can be called a universal material, it withstands loads higher than the flooring of other brands and is used in all of the above cases.

The main parameters of the profiled sheet

The thickness of the sheet, depending on the brand, can be from 0.4 to 1.5 mm. Weight of zinc coating per 1 sq. m. is 275 grams, and the thickness of the polymer coating is 25-200 microns. Profiled sheets can also be made according to individual sizes based on the characteristics of the object under construction. It should still be noted that the use of sheets of standard size simplifies installation and calculation and has standard technical characteristics. Here is the marking of the most common profiled sheet: C8 1150/1200, here "C" means the scope - wall, "8" is the height of the profile, and 1150 is the useful width of the sheet. Brand C8 is the leader in sales. A feature of this profiled sheet is the low thickness and width of the profile shelves, which exceeds the height of the profile.

Profiled sheet weight, tables

An important parameter when choosing a building material is its weight. The weight depends on the alloy, profile height, sheet thickness. The professional flooring of the brand "C" is the lightest, one linear meter of it weighs in the range of 4.46-8.38 kilograms. For a load-bearing wall profiled sheet, the weight also starts at 4.46 kg. per linear meter and can reach 9.5 kilograms for sheets with high corrugation. The supporting profiled sheet is made of thicker rolled metal, therefore it has the largest weight. Starting from 5.63 kilograms for H57 sheets and reaching 18.09 kilograms of H153 grade. You can easily find out the weight of corrugated board on the Internet. As an example, we give several tables of the most common material of different brands.

Table 1

table 2

Table 3

To determine the weight of a square meter of a profiled sheet, the mass of one linear meter is multiplied by the total length.

When buying profiled material, it must be borne in mind that the installation of sheets is overlapped. Be sure to check the quality of the sheets, they must be with smooth edges and the same thickness. For the roof, a professional sheet should be used, the weight of which is 5-6 kg. per sq.m. The use of corrugated board in construction makes it possible to independently carry out a large amount of construction work, for example, on a personal plot or in a private residential building. Knowing the main parameters of the sheet, such as thickness, weight, length, allows you to choose the best option from those offered on the market.

One of the multi-purpose and widely used modern building materials is corrugated board.

Since the material has a relief surface, which makes it the owner of exceptional longitudinal and transverse rigidity, it is used almost everywhere.

Its other qualities are also captivating: strength, ductility and corrosion resistance.

What is corrugated board made from?

For the manufacture of corrugated board, the same material is used as for the metal tile - a steel sheet.

It's just that this sheet is rolled by cold rolling through other machines and the appearance of the corrugated board is different.

If the metal tile is an imitation of ceramic tiles, then the corrugated board imitates slate.

Then a layer of zinc is applied to the surface of the sheet to protect it from corrosion and a layer of polymer anti-corrosion coating.

Depending on the purpose of operation, corrugated board is usually divided into several types:

  1. Mark "N". In its marking, the presence of the letter H indicates that it is a "bearing" material. The thickness of the steel sheet is the largest possible. The wave height is also maximum.

    In order to make this material even more rigid, additional grooves are made on its surface. Grade H has proven itself well in the manufacture of heavy cargo containers, as well as in the construction of hangars, garages, warehouses, workshops, fences, and other facilities and structures.

    It is this corrugated board that is most often used for the outer cladding of the walls of buildings, the manufacture of gates, fences. Sometimes such a corrugated board is used in roofing work.

    But this happens very rarely, since such material weighs a lot.

  2. Professional flooring "NS". That is, a load-bearing wall material. Such material is the most versatile of the types of corrugated board. The thickness of such a profiled sheet is averaged.

    It also has a wave surface of medium height. The profiled material of the NS brand is distinguished by increased rigidity, and can be used for finishing ceilings, walls, ceilings of any kind, as a roofing material.

  3. Mark "C". It is already clear from the marking that this is wall corrugated board. And for wall decoration, it is these profiled sheets that are most often used. The small thickness of the product greatly simplifies installation.

    As a rule, such corrugated board is used in conjunction with various heaters: polystyrene foam, ecowool, mineral wool or natural heaters.

    Produced profiled sheet brand "C" medium and small thickness. The height of the corrugation is average, which makes this material very convenient for roofing.

    A roof made of this material is durable and reliable. It easily withstands any load under any impact.

    Such a bearing element is often used as flooring on scaffolding: such material can easily withstand a large weight load.

General characteristics

For the production of cold-formed steel profiles of trapezoidal shape, they are made from cold-rolled steel sheets (GOST 24045-94) on bending machines.

The thickness of the sheets is from 0.4 mm for wall corrugated board to 1.5 mm for bearing corrugated board.

The presence of additional stiffeners, as well as grooves, make this material very resistant to various aggressive environments and any kind of load.

But this material, despite its high mechanical strength, is one of the lightest building materials.

The professional flooring of the H brand is used in construction everywhere.

It is also often used in restoration and repair work.

If the corrugated board is used for finishing roofing, then this is a material of grade H or HC.

It is able to easily support the weight of a person (which is very important during installation) or any thickness of snow cover.

Load, mechanical or chemical influence, has practically no effect on profiled sheets.

The presence of a galvanized coating and a polymer film make steel sheets not susceptible to moisture, sudden changes in temperature, and corrosion.

It is possible to transport and mount a professional flooring at any weather.

Installation of corrugated board does not require complex construction tools and special equipment.

Material weight

The weight of a steel profiled sheet depends on its thickness, the thickness of the zinc and polymer coatings.

After all, each material has its own weight.

Self-tapping screws for fastening

The fastening of the profiled steel sheet to the elements of the crate is carried out using self-tapping screws.

Or, as the builders say, self-tapping screws.

A self-tapping screw is a type of fastener, which is a steel rod with a head and a triangular external thread.

In the process of fastening, such a screw independently cuts a thread inside the hole.

This type of fastener differs from screws and screws in that the thread is applied to the entire cylindrical surface of the rod.

To date, the range of self-tapping screws for fastening the profiled sheet is very wide.

And you should know that for each type of work there is a separate type of self-tapping screws, which differ in their parameters and characteristics.

That is, on the roof and a self-tapping screw for mounting on the fence - these are different fasteners.

And if you get the wrong fasteners, it is difficult to guarantee the strength and reliability of fastening the sheets.

Self-tapping screws are made of high quality stainless or galvanized carbon steel.

The self-tapping kit also includes a gasket made of neoprene.

The presence of such a gasket allows you to make the attachment point airtight.

Most manufacturers of fasteners, in order for the design of the fence or roof to have a more presentable appearance, cover the head of the self-tapping screw with polymer paint.

The paint used is the same as when painting sheets.

Therefore, after installation, the self-tapping screw is almost invisible.

Types of self-tapping screws for fastening

In total, there are three types of self-tapping screws for fastening a profiled sheet:

  1. For fastening products to wooden frames. For such a self-tapping screw, the thread pitch is rare, which makes it possible to ensure the strength of the fastener. Such a self-tapping screw can be screwed without problems even into the hardest wood.
  2. For fastening the product to metal. Also, such a self-tapping screw is used if it is necessary to attach a profiled sheet to a structure that is affected by strong wind loads. The thread pitch on such a self-tapping screw is also rare. But in the manufacture of a drilling tip, a special sharpening is made, which, during the work, eliminates the violation of the structure of the material.
  3. For fixing additional and ridge elements on the roof. These screws are very long.

All three types of self-tapping screws are equipped with a special drill tip, thanks to which it is not necessary to pre-drill a hole in the fastened elements.

And the hex head is easily fixed in the screwdriver's chuck, which greatly simplifies the work process.

Weight and cost of screws

The weight of self-tapping screws and their cost depend on their diameter and length.

A measure of the weight of a self-tapping screw is a kilogram per 1000 fasteners.

Depending on the length of the product, the weight of one thousand self-tapping screws can range from 18.5 to 41.67 kg. That is, one self-tapping screw can weigh from 18.5 to 41.67 grams.

When fixing the corrugated board on the roof, 9 self-tapping screws are consumed per sheet.

To fix the sheet on the fence, 6 self-tapping screws are enough.

Since the sheets are overlapped, some self-tapping screws hold 2 sheets at the same time.

Prices for self-tapping screws also depend on the size, and are in the range of 1.6 - 3.0 rubles per unit.

Do-it-yourself video about a roof made of corrugated board.

When erecting various buildings and structures, it is very important to take into account the mass of building materials, especially when constructing a roof, because, in addition to its own weight, it must perceive loads from wind, snow and water during rain. If the roof covering is made of profiled steel, then you need to know the weight of the profiled sheet. In addition, it is necessary to understand what factors this value depends on, and why it is needed.

The weight of a profiled sheet depends on several factors:

  • features of steel alloy;
  • material thickness;
  • profile configuration;
  • sheet dimensions.

The following factors affect the weight of the product:

  1. The weight characteristic of a profiled sheet largely depends on the characteristics and composition of the raw materials used for its manufacture. The production technology of this material is constantly being improved, the composition of the alloy is improving, which makes it possible to obtain a lighter product without losing its technical characteristics.
  2. Another condition that affects the mass of the product is its thickness. The greater the thickness, the greater the mass of one sheet. This sheet material is produced in accordance with GOST number 24045-94, according to which profile sheets are made with a thickness in the range of 0.06-0.1 cm. However, some manufacturers produce products with a thickness of 0.045-1.018 cm.
  3. Also, the weight of a corrugated sheet depends on the height and pitch of the ridge. If two products of the same dimensions and steel thickness have different characteristics of the height and pitch of the ridge, then the weight of these elements will be different. This is because with a higher profile per unit area there is a greater amount of sheet steel, and consequently, the weight of the product increases.
  4. Also, the mass of the material depends on the configuration of the wave. The profile can be of the usual wavy shape, made in a trapezoid or rectangular. So, a sheet with a wavy corrugation will have less mass than a product with a trapezoidal profile configuration.
  5. The mass of corrugated board depends on the width of the product. Moreover, it should be borne in mind that this value is indicated in two versions: full and working. The last of them is given taking into account the overlap of the sheets. According to GOST, sheets are made with a width of 64.6 cm to 106.0 cm. The manufacturer himself made sure that the wide sheets were not very heavy, therefore, the wider the sheet, the lower the wave height.

The need to determine the mass of material

The mass of the profiled product is especially important to know if you are going to cover the roof with this material. Knowing how much corrugated board weighs is necessary in order to calculate the load from the roof on the foundation, the supporting structures of the building. To perform the necessary calculations and determine the desired values, you need to know exactly how much the profiled sheet weighs.

When choosing a roof covering, very often the choice is made in favor of a profiled product, since it is quite strong, durable and light in weight. One m2 of corrugated board (even of the largest thickness) gives a minimum load on the roof and other structures of the building. Due to the high rigidity of the metal profile, the coating will not sag and deform under snow and wind loads. Due to the low weight, the load on the truss system is reduced.

Sheet dimensions and weight

The highest quality corrugated board is manufactured in accordance with GOST number 24045-94. This regulatory document regulates the main dimensions of the metal profile and its mass. Each type of profiled products has its own marking. The first letter in the designation indicates the scope of the material, for example, C - wall, H - load-bearing, HC - universal. The letter designation is followed by a number that indicates the height of the profile corrugation.

The specific gravity of the corrugated board can be found in the table below:

As can be seen from the table above, C8 corrugated board, whose weight is minimal, is the lightest among profiled sheets. In general, the weight of 1 m2 of a metal profile is not so big when compared with other roofing:

  • the weight of 1m2 of cement-sand piece tiles is 25 kg;
  • the mass of a square meter of roofing slate is 12 kg;
  • the required amount of natural tiles to cover one square of the roof weighs 50 kg;
  • if we compare slate roofing and corrugated board, the weight of the first coating is much larger and amounts to 52 kg.

That is why, if the question arises, which light roofing material to choose so as not to unnecessarily load the truss system and the supporting structures of the building, the choice falls on the metal profile.

As you can see, among all the advantages that corrugated board has, weight and rigidity can be called the main ones. However, when choosing a roofing corrugated board, it is not necessary to give preference to a sheet with the greatest thickness. It is necessary to strike a balance of the necessary rigidity and sufficient lightness. For household and one-story structures, you can choose a product with a thickness in the range of 0.05-0.06 cm. The roof of a two-story private house can be covered with a metal profile 0.07-0.08 cm thick.
