You can add cinnamon, cloves, vanilla to taste, as well as nutmeg, allspice, orange zest, mix with tea, and add cognac or brandy to increase the strength.

Mulled wines are especially popular in cold countries (for example, Germany and Scandinavia).

How to prepare spices:

Whenever possible, spices should be added to mulled wine unchopped: pepper - peas, cinnamon - in sticks. Mulled wine prepared with ground spices turns out cloudy and squeaks on the teeth.

To get the maximum flavor from the spices, cut the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds, break the cinnamon stick into large pieces, and coarsely chop the nutmeg.

About spices:

Cinnamon: its warm and sweet aroma plays the role of a conductor in the drink. It was not for nothing that the ancient Romans considered cinnamon to be able to catalyze other odors.

Nutmeg: the tart aroma is more intense in large round nuts than in oblong ones. For this drink you need to choose the first option.

Vanilla: the best pods are dark and oily. These can not lose their thick and sweet aroma for years if they are kept tightly sealed.

Carnation: another classic ingredient. The clove gives off its burning taste quickly. To avoid bitterness, add it closer to the end.

Ingredients:

500 ml white semi-sweet wine
6 tbsp. l. Sahara
2 tbsp. l. honey
juice and grated zest of two lemons
grated zest of two oranges
juice of four oranges
4 cinnamon sticks, broken into 3-4 pieces
2 vanilla pods, cut lengthwise
pinch of nutmeg
4 cloves
pinch of cardamom
1 tsp. ground ginger or 5 cm fresh

Preparation:

Prepare wine, spices and citrus fruits.

Heat wine in a saucepan with sugar, juice and grated zest of oranges and lemon, and a mixture of spices. Do not boil.

Remove from heat, cover and leave for at least 3 hours. Ideally overnight.

In the morning, strain the mulled wine through a sieve.

Warm the drink slightly before serving.

Winter, early spring or chilly autumn are the times of year when you want warmth. And there is one drink that helps you acquire it. It has long been known in England, Germany, Austria and is consumed at Christmas markets, ski resorts and at home, sitting by the fireplace. And this drink is mulled wine. If prepared correctly, it will be an excellent remedy for colds and depression. It is prepared on the basis of wine: red or white. And from white wine it’s not that complicated. If we translate the word “mulled wine” from German, we get the name of this drink - red-hot wine. And choosing wine for this drink is a whole science. They already have an absolute taste, and heating them can only ruin it.

In most cases, dry wines of low strength are taken for this drink. You can also take semi-dry ones. But you need to be careful not to make it too sweet. Dessert mulled wine is unlikely to work. And young and light wines that contain from 8.5 to 12.5% ​​alcohol are ideal.

But which wine to choose is a matter of taste. There are no particular differences in the cooking recipes. The only difference is in the selection of ingredients. So, if you prepare mulled wine from white wine, then it is better to take semi-sweet wine. And instead of lemon juice, add orange juice. Some even use sparkling wines for this drink. But such exotic recipes will require special knowledge and experience.

But there are also simpler recipes for preparing mulled wine from white wine. Here's one of them. It requires 750 ml, two mugs of lemon, one cinnamon stick, two buds of cloves, and honey, which is added to taste.

The wine is poured into the prepared container. All ingredients are added to it: lemon, cinnamon, cloves and honey. Then the dishes are placed on low heat and heated until small bubbles appear on the surface. Under no circumstances should this drink be boiled. Then the fire is turned off, and the mulled white wine should brew for 15 minutes. Then you just need to strain it and you can drink it. They only drink it hot!

Here's another recipe for making mulled wine. White wine is also taken semi-dry in the amount of 500 ml. This drink also requires the following ingredients: zest from one orange, juice from two oranges, 4 tbsp. l light brown sugar, 0.5 tsp coriander, 5 cloves, 5 cardamom boxes. The zest is removed from one orange, and the juice is squeezed from both. This juice is poured into a ladle. Sugar, spices and zest are added to it. Then this mixture is put on low heat and cooked until all the sugar has dissolved and two-thirds of the juice remains. After this, wine is poured in and the whole thing is cooked over low heat. The drink should not boil. Mulled wine is poured into heat-resistant glass glasses or ceramic mugs.

Everyone knows that raspberries are an excellent remedy for colds. And mulled wine made from white wine and these berries will protect against acute respiratory infections with even greater force. To prepare this “hot wine” you will need half a liter of dry white wine, fresh frozen raspberries weighing 200 grams, sugar - two tablespoons and one vanilla pod or a bag of vanilla sugar. And the preparation procedure is as follows: wine is poured into a saucepan, raspberries and sugar are added. cut and the middle scraped out into the wine. The pod itself is also cut into pieces and sent next. The entire mixture is heated over low heat almost to the boiling point. The finished drink is bottled and drunk immediately after preparation. There are many more such recipes. It’s not without reason that mulled wine has become a favorite drink in many countries.

For white mulled wine, it is better to use white semi-sweet wine and add not fresh lemon juice, but orange juice. But it must be remembered that when heated, white wine becomes more sour. Mulled wine cannot be boiled. It needs to be heated to a temperature of 70-80 ° C, and the white foam that has formed on the wine will disappear.

Mulled wine may or may not contain water. If water is included in its composition, then hot water must be boiled immediately before use. You need to pour it along the edge, then the bouquet of wine will not spoil. As a rule, cinnamon, cloves, lemon zest, orange zest, honey, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, black pepper or allspice, cardamom, cardamom, anise, unsweetened apples, raisins, nuts, kiwi, oranges are added to mulled wine - depending on the purpose and a recipe.

Before making mulled wine from white wine, remember that you use only glass, enamel or silver dishes. It is recommended to drink mulled wine immediately after heating so that the wine does not lose its bouquet. Prepared mulled wine can be stored in a thermos. The lemon zest, if it is in the mulled wine, must be removed so that the mulled wine does not become bitter. Before serving, remove the lemon from the mulled wine and add cinnamon.

Recipe for mulled white semi-sweet wine

The ingredients for this recipe for mulled white semi-sweet wine are the following products:

  • 1 liter white semi-sweet wine
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 4–5 clove buds
  • 15–20 black peppercorns

Add all ingredients to the wine, bring the mixture to a boil, remove from heat and let the drink brew for 10–15 minutes. Strain the mulled wine and serve hot, first adding a slice of lemon and a few apple cubes to each glass.

Is it possible to make mulled wine from white wine?

Required:

  • 1 bottle of white wine
  • 55 ml rum or cognac
  • 100 g sugar
  • 2 glasses of water
  • 2 cloves and zest of half a lemon

Required:

White wine mulled wine

Mulled white wine with honey

Components:

  • 1 liter dry or semi-sweet white wine
  • 10–12 cloves
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon allspice peas
  • 1 tbsp. spoon of honey
  • 1 small orange

Pour the wine into the pan, add the remaining ingredients and heat, stirring, without bringing to a boil. Strain the mulled white wine with honey and serve immediately. Cut the orange into slices along with the zest and add to the wine.

Mulled wine with cognac

Compound:

  • 750 ml dry white wine
  • 400 ml water
  • 125 g granulated sugar
  • 10 carnations
  • piece of cinnamon
  • 1 lemon
  • 50 ml cognac

In an enamel bowl, put cloves, cinnamon, lemon zest (squeeze lemon juice in there), sugar, add water and boil for a couple of minutes. Strain, cool slightly to room temperature, add wine to the broth and heat to 60-65 °C. Pour cognac into the resulting drink. Drink no more than one glass at a time. After preparation, the infusion should brew for about ten minutes. Pour the wine into the pan and put the pan on the fire. As soon as the wine has warmed up slightly, pour the Turkish infusion into it and add one tablespoon of sugar. The most important thing is not to let the mulled wine sit on the stove. To be on the safe side, it's best to remove it from the heat when it's hot enough. After cooking, pour the mulled wine into a ceramic teapot or immediately pour it into portioned cups. Remember one simple truth for mulled wine - you must not allow it to cool. The fact is that if this wine has already been heated once, then after that it will forever lose its taste and bouquet.

Recipe: Non-alcoholic mulled wine

Stock up on these ingredients: three glasses of apple or grape juice, half a glass of water, two tablespoons of orange zest, two tablespoons of lemon zest, two pieces of apple, two tablespoons of raisins, half a teaspoon of cloves, a pinch of allspice, a pinch of cardamom, a pinch of ginger.

We prepare non-alcoholic mulled wine in this way - pour apple juice into any pan, add water and add all the other necessary ingredients. Mix the contents and place the pan on low heat. We heat it to about eighty degrees, but do not bring it to a boil. Now let the drink brew under the lid for about five minutes and pour into cups. Just keep in mind that you should not use aluminum cookware.

Recipe for mulled wine with cinnamon

This drink is called glogg and is a traditional Scandinavian drink. To prepare it, you will need seven hundred and fifty milliliters of red wine, sixty milliliters of vodka, sixty-five grams of sugar, six buds of cloves, half a tablespoon of ground ginger, one hundred grams of raisins, one hundred grams of almonds.

Pour vodka and wine into the pan. Add all the other ingredients to them and heat slightly until the sugar dissolves. Turn off the stove and let it brew under the lid for about half an hour. After the drink is prepared, you can serve it to your guests, pre-heated.

Recipe: White wine mulled wine

This is a rather unusual recipe for mulled wine, because it is traditionally believed that mulled wine is a drink using red wine, or in extreme cases, pink. Not in our case. We decided to tell you about the recipe for the most unusual type of mulled wine - mulled white wine. To prepare it, you will need half a liter of dry white wine, one lemon, a quarter teaspoon of ground black allspice, a quarter teaspoon of ground nutmeg husk, one cinnamon stick, fifty grams of brown sugar, one orange, half a glass of dried fruit.

Pour into a saucepan and mix white wine with lemon juice, sugar, spices and sliced ​​orange. Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat and gradually heat it up, just don’t let the contents boil. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves. Then, after the sugar has dissolved, cook for another five to six minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour its contents into mugs. Decorate the contents of each mug with dried fruits and serve to your guests.

Recipe for mulled wine with honey

Dedicated to those who like it sweeter. This mulled wine is prepared with the addition of honey. To prepare it, you need to take seven hundred and fifty milliliters of red wine, half an apple, half an orange, four tablespoons of honey, twelve buds of cloves, one cinnamon stick, five allspice peas.

Pre-rinse the apple and orange under water. Then cut them into pieces or slices, pour wine into a saucepan and add apples and oranges to it.

Add honey and spices to the wine in a saucepan. Place the pan on the stove and heat over low heat until it reaches eighty degrees. But remember that you cannot bring it to a boil. Let the finished mulled wine brew for another eight to ten minutes with the lid closed. After this, you can pour the mulled wine into glasses and serve it to your guests.

If water is used in the recipe, it must be boiled in advance, and immediately before using it in the recipe. If you need to use hot water, then under no circumstances pour it directly into alcoholic drinks, because this will clearly spoil their taste. To add hot water to alcohol, pour it over the edge of the container or over a knife resting against the sides of the container.

There is no clear option for choosing a brand of wine here. You can take either dry, semi-dry or semi-sweet wine. But true connoisseurs of mulled wine advise taking dry white wine, since during the preparation process you yourself will have the opportunity to add as much sugar (honey) to it as you like, and as a result the drink will not turn out too cloying. For this mulled wine recipe, take dry white wine and mix it with apple juice. Since store-bought apple juice already contains sugar, there is no need to add it. If you decide to use apple juice, add sugar or honey to your taste.

Place the saucepan on the lowest heat possible and prepare the spices.
