Sliding wardrobe with drawers inside. Filling for built-in wardrobes and wardrobes: drawings with dimensions. Filling the wardrobe - photo examples

In any case, consistency is important. You can find many online wardrobe design programs online. But they will not help to do everything correctly if there is no clear idea of how cabinet furniture is assembled. Here is a brief step-by-step instruction on how to plan a closet and not lose sight of the details.

We determine the design and dimensions of the wardrobe

How best to plan a closet depends on its location. Its design can be:

  1. Completely detached. The easiest option for self-design. The dimensions of the closet are reduced relative to the allocated space in width and height, so that it is possible to assemble. If a cabinet is conceived to the ceiling, it is better to allocate a separate mezzanine. It is not always possible to assemble a closet "standing up". And if you collect it lying down, then the diagonal of the sidewalls will not allow you to lift it and move it to the allotted place.
  2. Partially embedded. Planning a wardrobe partially built-in (for example, when installed in a corner, without a back wall or bottom) is also not difficult if all measurements are made correctly. Shelves adjacent to the side wall may need to be filed in place if the angle is not even. With a corner installation, it is better to leave the section adjacent to the corner under outerwear.
  3. Fully integrated. In this case, the sliding wardrobe is completely mounted in a niche and does not have a roof, bottom, side and rear walls. It is necessary to plan the internal content in such a way that all shelves and drawers are in the center. And the side sections, for example, leave under the clothes on the coat hanger.

Cabinet wardrobe

Partially built-in wardrobe

Built-in wardrobe

We leave a place under the door and adjust the depth

The peculiarity of wardrobes is that the sliding system immediately "eats" 100 mm from the depth of the wardrobe itself. And all shelves, partitions must be recessed relative to the compartment body. And drawers are equipped with mortise or simply non-protruding handles so that sliding doors do not cling to them.

If you need to plan a wardrobe inside for a hallway, with storage of voluminous outerwear, it is better to immediately increase its depth to 650 mm. In order not to correct the sleeves, shoulders, the lush "hem" of sheepskin coats and fur coats, which "strive" to get in the way of the compartment sash when closing.

If the hallway is narrow and the wardrobe cannot be made more than 450-550 mm in depth, it is more correct to immediately plan the transverse arrangement of the hangers on the retractable rods.

We plan the roof and base of the wardrobe

You can skip this step when planning a wardrobe if you decide to make a structure without a bottom and a roof. In this case, the ceiling will serve as the roof, and the flooring will serve as the base.

As for the roof, it can be laid on (in the form of a protruding visor). Or inset, as in ordinary cabinets.

In the first case, fasteners (confirmations) are screwed in from above. Therefore, it is better to immediately make a removable mezzanine to facilitate assembly.

In the second case, it is likely that the closet can be assembled "standing", because the fasteners will be screwed in from the sides.

We divide the wardrobe into sections and check with respect to the doors

Any internal filling of a sliding wardrobe is a combination of shelves, niches and drawers in vertical sections.

Partitions determine the width of the vertical sections:

  • Usually, vertical sections of 500-700 mm in length are allocated for rack shelves.
  • Sections for clothes on the coat hanger can be longer if a longitudinal hanger is used.
  • If the closet is shallow and transverse pull-out bars are installed, then the optimal width of the sections for hangers is 600 mm.

When arranging the partitions, correlate their position with respect to the sliding doors of the compartment! Shelves should not overlap with them, otherwise "dead" zones will form. Doors should not interfere with drawers, baskets, bars and other storage systems.

We develop internal content

How to plan a closet inside, how to make its internal content depends on the purpose of the closet itself and its placement.

For example:

  • For the closet in the hallway, they plan to hang more under outerwear, shelves for shoes, hats and bags, narrow drawers for mittens, gloves and other small accessories.
  • For a closet in the bedroom, it is better to design more shelves of different heights - for linen, things, voluminous pillows and blankets.
  • In the nursery, it is more convenient for a child to use drawers and baskets, there should be more shelves, and hanging under the hangers take up less space.
  • In some wardrobes, it is important to single out “household” sections designed to store a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, dryer and other household appliances.

Removable and rigid shelves, mezzanines

We repeat once again: in free-standing wardrobes under the ceiling, it is better to make the mezzanine removable. At the same time, sliding doors can be from floor to ceiling, or separate for the lower and upper parts of the cabinet. True, the design for these two options will be different.

If the wardrobe has a separate mezzanine, with its own sliding doors, its design will look like this.

If single doors from floor to ceiling are planned, then the bottom of the mezzanine is recessed to the level of the remaining shelves and partitions of the internal filling of the wardrobe.

The seam on the sidewall of the wardrobe divided in this way, with the right choice of colors for laminated chipboard and cutting according to the texture, will be almost invisible. However, it can always be "covered" with decorative side shelves or any other extension.

If we talk about the aesthetics of the sidewall, then they do not add "beauty" and numerous holes from the fastening of the shelves.

In order not to "hole" the visible sidewalls of the wardrobe:

  • If possible, sections with shelves are taken out to the central part, as was written earlier.
  • Use a hidden fastening in the form of furniture dowels and an eccentric screed.
  • Alternate rigid fastening of shelves with removable ones.

Checking the rigidity of the structure

With the built-in design of the wardrobe, the rigidity of the shelves and partitions is ensured by attaching to the walls at key points. Long shelves for heavy, bulky items are reinforced with special console holders.

Everything else is fixed with the usual plastic corners of the commander.

If the wardrobe is freestanding, then in the design of high and wide niches for outerwear, as well as under long shelves (longer than 700 mm), it is necessary to plan stiffeners.

Otherwise, the finished product will be extremely unstable and shaky. Any distortions negatively affect the movement of the sliding doors, the doors begin to stick, or even roll in one direction (the side of the distortion).

Partially, the function of the rigidity of the wardrobe is taken over by the back wall.

Drawer Planning Rules

The main rule for planning any drawers, baskets and other storage systems is the absence of an obstacle in the way of their movement.

An offensive and, alas, a common mistake when designing drawers in wardrobes is a partial overlap of the facade with a sliding sash. Be careful and do not make such an oversight.

Often, planning errors are made by incorrectly calculating the position of retractable modules in height:

  1. Place them at the very bottom and the front of the drawer can cling to the protruding bottom rail.
  2. Place several on top of each other, in the form of a chest of drawers, and it may turn out that the top one will be too high and uncomfortable.

Drawers in the closet should be no higher than 1.2 m from the floor level. Between the bottom drawer and the bottom of the cabinet (or the floor) there should be a “gap” of 20-50 mm, to the height of the lower guide of the sliding system.

It can also be difficult to calculate the attachment points for the drawer guides, and after installation, adjust if the rigidity in the closet was not enough. Therefore, it is most convenient to design drawers in the cabinet as a separate module.

The top cover of the module will serve as a shelf in the closet. And the side walls of the module are rigidly attracted to the partitions of the wardrobe at the desired height. Which, by the way, can already be determined empirically, at the installation site, made higher or lower, as it will be convenient.

Here, in principle, are all the points that you should pay attention to in order to make a do-it-yourself wardrobe project and plan the internal content correctly.

Proper filling of the wardrobe and the distribution of internal compartments guarantees the absence of inconvenience or discomfort during its operation. Depending on the location of the cabinet, the layout of the compartments may vary. So, nets with interchangeable shoes in large quantities will become out of place in the closet located in the nursery. And retractable glove boxes are of little use in the closet located in the bedroom.

There are no specific standards and rules for internal filling, the number of shelves, the presence of mezzanines or drawers. The project of the internal space of the closet is filled depending on the number and type of clothes, as well as on the preferences of the owner of the room.

It is important to remember that the design of the internal layout of the filling of a closet for any purpose should be based on clearly calibrated measurements.

Self-assembly according to your own drawings often contributes to the practical distribution of space. The owner always knows better than to fill an empty niche, whether to create an additional empty module for installing a television monitor, or hide it with shutters.

Depending on the location, there are several templates with easily reconfigurable modules. Some tips for planning the interior fittings of built-in wardrobes:

  • the quantitative number of doors, as a rule, is equal to the number of compartments, with the exception of wide doors, behind which two sections can be placed;
  • the module of the wardrobe module with a bar is made wider than the compartment with shelves;
  • the opening of the section for storing linen in height is no more than 40 cm, which is the most convenient option, while from 25 to 35 cm is allocated for books, depending on the printed edition;
  • for the wardrobe department, the best option is to create two compartments - for a short one, with a module height from the lower partition to a bar of 100 cm, and long clothes, with a module height of 160 cm;
  • mezzanines intended for large-sized things are made at least half a meter in height;
  • the total depth of the cabinet, equipped with longitudinal bars, should be planned at least 65 cm, for a module with transverse bars - at least 50 cm due to the door mechanism;
  • in the projects of drawers in which underwear will be stored, the dead zone must be taken into account - the frame of the compartment door mechanism so that the drawers can be pulled out freely
  • the depth of the drawers is designed taking into account the presence of hinged handles, if any, the height of the front panels of the drawer should be at least 25 cm;
  • to pull out the drawers, it is desirable to use a ball bearing mechanism that allows you to pull them out completely;
  • shelves over 90 cm must be provided with a partition so that it does not bend;
  • hanger bars, over 120 cm long, should have a design with an additional bar resting on the floor with its lower end and tied to the opposite upper shelf;
  • to install baskets, shoe racks, trousers or neckties, you need to know their dimensions in advance in order to avoid falling into the internal parameters of the compartment intended for them;
  • the internal lighting of the cabinet, if this does not apply to the dressing room, it is advisable to bring it to the top panel, equipping it with 12 W halogen lamps;
  • for a large mezzanine, it is not advisable to make separate doors, it will fit perfectly behind the common doors;
  • wardrobe compartments with rods should not be located in the outer compartments, since over time the outer modules, overloaded with things and not connected by shelves, may fall apart.

It is important to know that the filling of built-in wardrobes depends on the intended purpose of the structure, which differ in the internal composition of the sections.

Filling the closet in the bedroom

The predominance of large space in wardrobe projects for the bedroom, which determines the constant storage of bed linen and bedding. Clothes compartments, as a rule, are equipped with a pantograph - a retractable hanger bar equipped with a downward device, and a standard bar option. The pantograph allows you to maximize the use of the upper volume of the wardrobe block.

Also, the filling of the wardrobe in the bedroom consists of the following blocks, compartments and modules:

  • compartment where mesh baskets are attached;
  • block with the inclusion of an end or ordinary hanger;
  • a panel equipped with hinged hooks for changeable and non-wrinkling clothes;
  • trouser-hangers and neckties with a retractable mechanism;
  • retractable multi-level drawers that store small items - cufflinks, belts, handkerchiefs;
  • on one of the walls it is desirable to determine the place where the iron and folding ironing board will be hung;
  • compartments for lower shoe blocks, as well as a compartment for slippers.

Filling the closet in the hallway

The specificity of some cabinet projects in the hallway lies in their non-standard dimensions. The optimal width of the built-in furniture of this plan corresponds to only 0.4 meters with standard parameters of 0.6 m. For such narrow wardrobes, mounting of transverse bars for hanging hangers is provided.

The correct filling project for such a cabinet will allow you to place the maximum number of things in the cabinet. It is very important to have a modular unit in the hallway that allows you to store seasonal clothes, as well as a separate overall section in the lower location of the shoe cabinet.

It should not be forgotten that the excessive workload of the closet in the hallway with irrational design of sections leads to a loss of functionality of the object.

Shoes for daily use are stored on mesh shelves, which are fixed at an angle for better ventilation. Seasonal shoes are stored on the mezzanine or placed on regular shelves, packed in boxes.

It is necessary to provide for all the little things, including the presence of small drawers - glove boxes, in which many necessary things are stored, located only in the hallway. These are shoe products and cleaning creams, shoe and clothes brushes, auxiliary shoe horns, keys.

It is desirable to include sections for long-term storage of seasonal items and clothes, as well as modules for additional shelves or voluminous drawers in the internal design of the cabinet.

Filling the closet in the nursery

To ensure the safety of the child and teach him order, the filling of the closet in the nursery is selected most carefully.

The upper zone is temporarily reserved for the needs of adults. The lower compartments are designed in such a way that the child has access to his personal belongings. The modules are created in such a way that as they grow up, the child can independently use the entire closet.

Lifting and sliding mechanisms are selected from simple but reliable systems that are inaccessible for disassembly by children's hands. Discomfort in using retractable drawers for a small person should be completely absent so that the child can easily pull them out repeatedly, without fear that one of the mechanisms will break.

Filling the wardrobe photo of the internal layout

Built-in furniture is created for a comfortable existence and rational use of the entire area of the room. The main criterion for planning the filling of the closet is its location in the home. We present a series of photos of the interior layout and design of cabinets for various purposes.

A variety of three- and two-door wardrobes for hallways:

Wardrobe alternative:

  • corner wardrobe

  • and a five-door wardrobe

Wardrobe in the nursery from the Baltic designers:

Two wardrobes in the living room from Ukrainian designers:

The wardrobe in the hallway is one of the most necessary pieces of furniture. What should be the right closet inside? You need to consider for whom and for what things you need a closet. For someone, shoe shelves and a couple of hangers will be enough, someone plans to store bedding, bags and even a washing machine there.

Here, for example, everything is located not only rationally, but also with the use of unusual shelves, for example, a dynamic shelf, in which any little thing can be conveniently reached.

Proper filling of the closet

There are no specific rules. The main thing is to think over everything in advance and draw a sketch. You can even make a wardrobe yourself according to ready-made drawings. It is important to consider the size of your hallway.

For a small family or even one person, a one-door wardrobe is suitable. But the number of sections is at least two. The cabinet must be divided into sections. It is convenient to leave shoes here or even leave sports equipment, such a closet resembles a small room, but it takes up little space.

For your own convenience, the interior filling of the closet in the hallway should contain hangers, shelves for shoes, drawers for gloves, hats, mittens, possibly stands for hats and umbrellas. If the hallway is spacious enough, a sliding wardrobe can replace an entire dressing room with a mirror and a changing area.

The width of the shelves is at least 80-90 cm, but there is also the option of narrow shelves (40 cm), if there is no space at all in the hallway.

For outerwear: coats, raincoats, fur coats, the height of the cabinet should not be less than 140 cm.

This closet has not only convenient shelves for clothes and accessories, but also a decorative corner shelf for small items.

Practical closet inside - features

For two-door and three-door cabinets, there are much more filling options than for a single-door cabinet. Storage items can include bedding, seasonal clothing, tablecloths, towels, magazines, and even built-in compartments for jewelry and beauty supplies.

Metal cabinets are very convenient, dirt and debris do not accumulate in them, moreover, they are very light, which is very important for complex structures.

The width of the shelves varies from forty centimeters and more.

The arrangement of things in the closet can be done according to a very convenient scheme:

  • In the middle are often worn things so that they are always at eye level.
  • From above - rare and unnecessary, for example, hats or carnival costumes.
  • The most bulky and heavy things, such as suitcases, are stored below.

Which cabinetry to choose?

The corner cabinet occupies a non-standard hallway area. A corner cabinet is a mini-dressing room, a lot of things fit on the occupied area, especially non-standard sizes.

It fits less in a straight cabinet, but it is easier to fit it into the overall interior of the hallway.

Make sure that the closet does not interfere with the passage to other rooms. The hallway should be comfortable and spacious.
The internal elements are made of a metal frame to be stronger and more reliable. Check that the doors move smoothly and without jerks.

In large cabinets, you can put boxes, as in this photo, then the cabinet will look neater.

Such a cabinet is sometimes inconvenient due to the narrow opening and rather voluminous structure.

Pay attention to whether the backlight is located here, sometimes the light of the hallway is not enough to find some thing, or pick up an image.

For storing men's belts and ties, special retractable holders or shelves with cells are used as an internal filling of the cabinet, which are mounted on the sides and are very convenient to use. Shoe boxes (nets) are practical, but they should not be located close to the floor (dirt accumulates under them and is inconvenient to clean). The width of the mesh can vary from 30 cm (for a pair of shoes) to 100 cm or more.

Pretty comfortable in the hallway built-in wardrobes. The top bar goes under the ceiling. There is no free space on the sides either. Thus, the entire area is used to the maximum.

It is not very convenient to position the crossbar deep into it; outer clothing does not fit well. But then the cabinet may not be very deep.

A very rational idea to put a washing machine in the hallway closet. Often in small apartments this is the only place where it will fit.

And there is also an ironing board.

There are suitcases on top here, although here you need to be sure that they are not very heavy.

Wooden and sliding shelves for shoes are not always practical, because they often get dirty and sand accumulates there.

It is very convenient to store shoes in retractable metal shelves, so they will also dry normally.

In any case, we must remember that the sliding wardrobe is not designed for one year. Therefore, the design of the interior space should take into account the perspective and maximum content, as well as the features of the hallway in which it will stand.

In the latter version, both closed wardrobes and open hangers are very conveniently located, where you can hang everyday clothes.

Proper space planning requires a lot of experience. In this article, we tried to draw your attention to the main points of the correct layout of the wardrobe.

    General the depth of the closet is better to do at least 65cm, since 10cm will go to the device of the door mechanism.

    For short items, use 2 parallel rods on top of each other, so you can fit more clothes.

    Make drawers and baskets at a height of no higher than 120 cm, otherwise there will be inconvenience to use them later.

    Based on practice, the optimal distance between the shelves is 35-40 cm.

    It is better to hang the barbell at a height of 170-190cm from the floor, if you hang it higher, it will be inconvenient to get it, hang it lower - you will not spend the space optimally.

    If you place 2 rods under short clothes one above the other, as we advised above, then the most optimal distance between them will be 80-100 cm.

    Ideally, you need to measure the length of the clothes and add about 20 cm to it (then the total height of the hangers themselves will be taken into account with the distance from the top shelf to the bar itself.

    Accessories for wardrobes (shelves for shoes, hangers for ties) always fit few things in themselves, but they are not cheap.

    To store shoes, it is better to use ordinary shelves on which shoes can be arranged in 2 rows or in boxes.

    Since large-sized things are usually placed on the mezzanine, its opening in height should be made 45-50 centimeters.

    To store underwear include drawers.

    The height of the front panel of the drawer is 20-25 cm, but remember that the height of the drawer box is 3-5 cm less than the front panel, it depends on the type of guides.

    It is better to use full extension guides, because it is convenient when the contents of the drawer are fully extended.

    And further, never make empty holes with rods in the outermost compartments of the cabinet, because the side panel can simply fall off from door strikes. Shelves will solve this problem - they will connect the side panel of the cabinet with the entire structure.

It is worth saying that in each situation everything is individual: only you can decide how your closet will look inside, what area can be used for a closet, how many shelves and what to do, but be sure to consult a specialist.

How to order a sliding wardrobe

Take advantage of a free consultation from our specialist. Departure on the house and individual lay-out of a case is carried out. You can also place an order right on the spot.

Specialist consultation

Ordering a sliding wardrobe is only half the battle. And the second half of the battle. And the first and most important thing is to plan how the sliding wardrobe will look inside. Correctly defined needs will bring satisfaction in the future when using the cabinet.

The sliding wardrobe device consists of:

  • shelves;
  • drawers;
  • rods;
  • mesh baskets;

This is the most minimal mandatory set that should be in any self-respecting closet. Now a little more.

Shelves

This is the basis of the internal structure of the wardrobe. With their help, the closet is zoned. Things placed on the shelves are easy to get. Often order mezzanine shelves for the entire length of the cabinet. As a rule, things that are rarely used are stored there.

There are also sliding shelves. With a large cabinet depth, it is very convenient. You will find the necessary thing quickly, you just have to push the shelf.

boxes

Drawers are also an essential element of the closet. Great for storing small items. How many boxes are needed is specified by the customer. There are options when the number of drawers, as well as their height, can be changed during the subsequent use of the cabinet.

barbells

Outerwear is placed on bars and pantographs. Rods are made of chrome-plated metal to withstand a good load.

The pantograph creates a second floor for things when the cabinet height allows it. Thus, space is saved very well.

mesh baskets

It is very convenient to store things in baskets. First, the baskets are well ventilated. And secondly, finding the right thing is quite easy, thanks to a good view through the grid. You can put underwear, socks, sweaters and even children's toys there.

Additional elements

The internal structure of the closet compartment can be supplemented with elements such as a trouser or necktie. For those who like to walk in a suit, it is very important that the trousers are not wrinkled. A trouser will help save the situation.

But you can quickly choose a tie with the help of a tie. Your attention will be presented to the entire stock of your models of ties. Some manufacturers offer tie boxes with special lighting. To make it easier to decide whether this tie fits your shirt and jacket.

There is also a separate hanger for belts. In the absence of such, the belts can be stored rolled up.

With a shallow cabinet depth, a cross hanger is suitable for placing a large number of things. Clothes will be parallel to the wall, which will save space.

Also, the closet inside can become a refuge for many, many more items. For example, with the help of a special mount, a vacuum cleaner hose will fit perfectly here.

To use the possibilities of the internal structure of the sliding wardrobe to the maximum, do not rush to choose the standard option. Think for yourself, consult with the designer, apply non-standard solutions. And then the whole world will fit inside your closet. The world of your favorite things.

Happy device!

Optimal planning and rational use of space is the key to comfort. The arrangement of furniture in the room is a key factor.

Thanks to the individual design, the wardrobe can be organically “fitted” into places that were previously considered oversized.

But just buying a wardrobe is not enough. It is necessary that it serve not just as “furniture”, but become a functional item and help organize the necessary things. To do this, you need to know how to plan a closet inside.

You can easily arrange things of different lengths in it, and numerous shelves will help you freely place other little things.

First you need to decide on the location of the cabinet. It is this fact that will decide how it will look in the end: its depth, height, width, content.

Be careful with the choice of the door sliding mechanism - it should not be too noisy.

For a more specific representation of the location of the furniture, you can limit the place that is intended for installation to improvised things. So you can evaluate the space occupied in the room and adjust the dimensions of future furniture.

The sliding wardrobe will fit into most modern styles.

If we make an overview of all the components of the wardrobe, we can identify the main components:

  1. Plinth (lower base);
  2. System (base or "support", it includes sliding devices - wheels, rails);
  3. Furniture panels (walls, ceiling, floor);
  4. Doors (may have, the principle of operation is sliding);
  5. False panel (located in the part where it is better to hide the voids);
  6. Frame or bar (located parallel to the door, or perpendicular, trempels are hung on them).

Regarding the internal content, here the components are known to everyone - drawers, shelves, compartments. They can be combined and achieve the desired results.

For example, if you choose a wardrobe for a bedroom, then there are some classic components that are present in almost every option:

Shelves. Their number may vary depending on the needs, they can be located in any part of it;

This also applies to the distance between them.

Drawers. Usually located at the bottom, depending on the purpose, they have different depths and quantities;

Drawers are usually used as a chest of drawers.

Rods. For large sizes, one or more rods can be installed, which are used to hang clothes.

The bar can be for short clothes (blouses, jackets, skirts) and for long clothes (coats, raincoats, dresses).

If the filling of the closet is planned for the hallway and dressing room, then the composition will not be radically different. The only thing that can vary is the number of constituent elements, depending on the purpose of the wardrobe. The lack of rods or drawers is most likely offset by the presence of plenty of shelves and storage compartments.

A variety of "fillings" can be chosen based on personal needs.

When choosing the location of the elements, it is also worth considering which of the family members will use them. For example, if a child is given a personal space for clothes and things, then he needs to be placed in a place accessible for his growth. The compartment for this can be planned as follows: at the bottom there is a retractable drawer, a shelf and a bar for trempels. When planning space for adults' belongings, consider whether there will be storage for items other than clothing (blankets, sheets, pillows, shoeboxes, etc.).

So the necessary layout of the wardrobe will become obvious.

What sizes to choose

To determine the dimensions and choose the optimal filling of the cabinet, it is better to immediately take into account the factors that will become decisive when choosing.

  1. Depth

If we talk about the size, then everything is purely individual here. But there are standards that are often used. It's about depth. As a rule, it is 60 cm.

If we take into account the door system here, then it increases by another 5 cm.

But what if this option is not suitable? There is custom-made furniture to satisfy all the needs of the customer in terms of depth, width, height of the product, and even in the pattern on the doors. Optionally, you can order a structure with a depth of 40 cm and it will optimally "fit" into the interior.

For example, it is suitable for a corridor in which outerwear is hung and shoes are stored.

  1. Height

The layout of the closet inside with dimensions should be adjusted as much as possible for all households. It is worth considering, first of all, growth and the ability to use a ladder or a chair in order to reach the highest point.

Rarely used and seasonal items, bags and suitcases, shoe boxes are stored upstairs.

Usually, even hard-to-reach places are occupied by things that are rarely used in everyday life. For the sake of practicality, many people buy a closet to the ceiling.

In this case, it will not be necessary to constantly shake off the settled dust from there.

  1. Width

According to this criterion, there can be no rules, because the width is chosen purely from the features of the room, the number of things to fit, where it will be located and the wishes of the homeowners.

The wider the furniture, the more sections can be there.

Putting the closet in a corner, if the space of the room dictates it, is not difficult. You only need to know the width of one and the second part. If the shape looks like the letter "P", then, knowing the width of all parts, you can create a well-planned design.

The number and width of sliding doors will depend on this.

Do not overestimate your capabilities in size. If there is no need for a large wardrobe and there are no plans to purchase a large number of things, then it is worth buying a piece of furniture that is more modest in size.

It is advisable to place small wardrobes in small hallways - standard products simply do not fit there, blocking the passage.

And vice versa - for a large amount of things, they initially consider buying a large version so that everything fits and finds its place.

It is quite possible to place a large closet in a spacious living room or bedroom.

Sliding wardrobe: how to plan correctly

For structures that will be located in different parts of the room, it is necessary to select your individual internal component. Let us consider in more detail the basic configurations that are offered for different locations in the room.

  1. Bedroom

Although the alleged presence of elements has already been described above, it will not be superfluous to clarify a lot.

Thanks to the properly selected filling, such a wardrobe is able to accommodate almost your entire wardrobe.

The usual filling of the closet in the bedroom should meet the following requirements:

  • Availability of space for folding bedding (shelves);
  • Storage of underwear (drawers with divisions);
  • Hanging clothes for everyday use (a bar with trempels, where it can be in two levels for clothes of various lengths);
  • Storage of accessories (drawers with divisions or shelves);
  • Household "needs" (ironing board, iron, steamer, clipper and much more will fit in the compartments between departments or in a special place reserved for this).

It can easily fit not only your belongings, but also bed linen, extra sets of pillows and blankets, and even an ironing board.

  1. Hallway

Since the hallways in different houses and apartments have different shapes, widths and lengths, you need to select furniture according to these features. The wardrobe system has a sliding door type, it will suit almost any type of hallway.

Here it is already worth starting from the depth of the cabinet.

In the hallway you need space for the following things:

  • Outerwear (rod);
  • Shoes (shelves, pull-out systems with storage space);
  • Accessories (shelves, drawers);

It would be appropriate to place a mirror on one door or two.

The closet in the hallway is indispensable for storing clothes for each of the seasons and numerous shoes.

  1. Wardrobe

How to plan a wardrobe inside for a dressing room? There is already more room for imagination, because you can place anything in the dressing room and in the quantities that the dimensions allow.

Thoughtful organization of space and storage of things will undoubtedly play into your hands.

You can put in the "coupe":

  • All types of clothing, from underwear to fur coats or jackets (retractable structures with divisions and bars are used);
  • All kinds of accessories from earrings to travel bags and suitcases (retractable top shelves about 50 cm wide);
  • Shoes (racks and holders);
  • Hats (shelves);
  • Household things (shelves, sliding systems).

The number of shelves, sections and furniture dimensions depend on the volume of the interior space.

Mounting

All components are manufactured both according to standard development and to order. The first option may immediately stand in the right place, or it may require an individual approach. Then the sliding wardrobe will be made according to the wishes of the client.

As a facade decor, it is better to choose a mirror surface, at least for one of the doors.

After some time of using the closet, the layout inside may not meet the comfort standards of an individual family. Then you can upgrade the existing filling of the cabinet by adding or removing some elements. To make the installation, it is enough to have the necessary fittings and a screwdriver. In extreme cases, you can call a specialist.

For installation, special fittings are used - for elements that can be pulled out, doors, rod mounts, lighting, and so on.

It is important to remember that the design of the internal layout of the filling of a wardrobe for any purpose should be based on clearly calibrated measurements.

  • the quantitative number of doors, as a rule, is equal to the number of compartments, with the exception of wide doors, behind which two sections can be placed;
  • the module of the wardrobe module with a bar is made wider than the compartment with shelves;
  • the opening of the section for storing linen in height is no more than 40 cm, which is the most convenient option, while from 25 to 35 cm is allocated for books, depending on the printed edition;
  • for the wardrobe department, the best option is to create two compartments - for a short one, with a module height from the lower partition to a bar of 100 cm, and long clothes, with a module height of 160 cm;
  • mezzanines intended for large-sized things are made at least half a meter in height;
  • the total depth of the cabinet, equipped with longitudinal bars, should be planned at least 65 cm, for a module with transverse bars - at least 50 cm due to the door mechanism;
  • in the projects of drawers in which underwear will be stored, the dead zone must be taken into account - the frame of the compartment door mechanism so that the drawers can be pulled out freely
  • the depth of the drawers is designed taking into account the presence of hinged handles, if any, the height of the front panels of the drawer should be at least 25 cm;
  • to pull out the drawers, it is desirable to use a ball bearing mechanism that allows you to pull them out completely;
  • shelves over 90 cm must be provided with a partition so that it does not bend;
  • hanger bars, over 120 cm long, should have a design with an additional bar resting on the floor with its lower end and tied to the opposite upper shelf;
  • to install baskets, shoe racks, trousers or neckties, you need to know their dimensions in advance in order to avoid falling into the internal parameters of the compartment intended for them;
  • the internal lighting of the cabinet, if this does not apply to the dressing room, it is advisable to bring it to the top panel, equipping it with 12 W halogen lamps;
  • for a large mezzanine, it is not advisable to make separate doors, it will fit perfectly behind the common doors;

  • compartment where mesh baskets are attached;
  • block with the inclusion of an end or ordinary hanger;
  • a panel equipped with hinged hooks for changeable and non-wrinkling clothes;
  • trouser-hangers and neckties with a retractable mechanism;
  • retractable multi-level drawers that store small items - cufflinks, belts, handkerchiefs;
  • on one of the walls it is desirable to determine the place where the iron and folding ironing board will be hung;

Shouldn't be forgotten that the excessive workload of the closet in the hallway with irrational design of sections leads to a loss of functionality of the object.

The filling in the hallway should be thought out taking into account all the features of your wardrobe. This storage system accommodates not only outerwear, but also often serves as a place for permanent maintenance of a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, iron, or even tableware for the festive table. It is especially important to think over every detail of the closet if you live in a small apartment.

What departments should be in an ideal storage system?

Today you can buy a ready-made sliding wardrobe, with the content provided by the manufacturer, or you can think over and fill the storage system with those types and rods that will be convenient for you, based on your lifestyle. Another factor influencing the internal layout of the wardrobe is the area of the corridor. If there is enough space in your apartment to put a spacious storage system, then there is nothing to worry about, but if the hallway is not large enough, then you can create additional storage space by choosing a corner wardrobe or supplementing a standard wardrobe with mezzanines.

Before you sit down and start drawing the layout of your ideal closet, you need to think about what compartments in it will be necessary for you.

Compartment for household appliances

This compartment is usually made in the middle of the cabinet. It should be deep and wide enough to fit a model of your vacuum cleaner or any other household appliance that you are used to using all the time, but it is not intended for the eyes of strangers.

Mezzanine for storing overall blankets and pillows

Usually it is placed above the compartment for household appliances. These beddings are tucked away on the top shelves of the closet before the onset of the cold season or the arrival of guests, and they will not need to be taken out often. The width and capacity of the compartment for household appliances will be harmoniously continued on the upper tier of the cabinet and will solve the problem of storing bulky textiles.

Storage compartment for ironing board

Many often face such a problem as ironing board storage. They try to store it on the balcony (where it can be quite dusty), under the bed (which complicates the cleaning process), in the bathroom (not always the size of the bathroom allows it). If the depth of your closet is sufficient to fit a board in it, then make a small compartment of a suitable size next to the compartment for household appliances. And above it you can make a small shelf for the iron.

Storing suitcases, backpacks and travel bags

This compartment can be made at the bottom if the overall size of the compartment allows you such luxury, but often such things are stored on the uppermost, long, roomy shelves.

Outerwear compartment

It is desirable that in addition to the wardrobe in your hallway there are also open hangers for outerwear. In the cold season, the weather is changeable, often the bright sun is replaced by heavy rain or snowfall can catch you outside. It is better not to hang wet clothes in a closed wardrobe, so as not to stain other things and not to spoil the furniture. Depending on how long the outerwear you wear, the height of the bar will be selected. If the cabinet is deep enough, then it is better to choose retractable rods. Thus, you will save space, increase storage functionality and create additional conveniences for yourself.

Compartment for bags, wallets, sports bag and purse

Depending on how many different bags you have for daily use, you should consider where to store them. It will be convenient if the bags and shoes are located in the same compartment, but the shoes are at the bottom, and the bags are at the top. For storing bags, deep shelves, pull-out baskets, a bar with hooks can be suitable, where you can hang all the bags.

Housekeeper

As a rule, the first thing that each of us does when entering his apartment is to put his bag back in place and put the keys. Then he takes off his shoes and only after that takes off his outer clothing. Therefore, it is recommended that the first compartment of the cabinet, located from the door, be made for storing bags, shoes, and place the key compartment there. When the keys have their place, then forgetting them at home, just choosing a different bag, will no longer work.

Shoe storage

Shoes are usually stored on the bottom tier of the closet. For this, sliding shelves, metal baskets, closed shoe racks are suitable. Which option is right for you depends on the number and variety of your shoes. If the dimensions of the closet allow, then you can make a compartment in the form of a honeycomb, where each cell will be designed for a specific pair of shoes.

Compartment for everyday clothes

It is not always possible to get a wardrobe or dressing room in the bedroom, so the main part of your wardrobe can be placed in the hallway. The filling of this compartment should be carefully chosen to create maximum convenience and comfort for yourself. For example, to accommodate belts, you can build in a retractable hanger designed specifically for this wardrobe item. For the convenience of choosing a suitable tie, there is an additional element - a tie. To keep your trousers from wrinkling, place them on the trouser rack. Make sure your scarves and hats find their rightful place too.

Laundry storage

For storage of linen, retractable closed shelves with distributors inside are suitable.

Storage box for miscellaneous items

Such a drawer can store shoe polish, a cleaning brush, spare hangers and other little things that are important for everyday use, but they are so difficult to keep in order.

You can store various little things in a purchased box with a lid or in a shoe box

Types of wardrobes. Pros and cons of each type

In order to decide on the choice of a sliding wardrobe suitable for your hallway, it is worth remembering all the existing types of this furniture, as well as thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Filling straight closets

The filling of the closet depends on what exactly you are going to fill it with, how many shelves and rods you need to keep all your things in order. The traditional filling of such cabinets is one compartment with a high bar and one compartment with shelves. In this case, you will have the opportunity to hang your coat on a hanger and put your bag on a shelf.

It is desirable that the closet has not only open shelves, but also closed drawers. It will be convenient to store various small things in them and those things that it is undesirable to gather dust.

Examples of filling 3-section cabinets

Having the ability to put a storage system with three compartments in the hallway, you can distinguish between them based on what items you have more in your wardrobe. If you have a large collection of different pairs of shoes, then you can allocate the entire first compartment for storing them, adapt the second compartment for outerwear, and place your bags in the third. The three-section wardrobe allows space for a vacuum cleaner or ironing board.

If you do not have a lot of outerwear, then only one compartment can be allocated for its storage and it will be more convenient to make it in the middle compartment.

An example of a three-section wardrobe with two compartments for clothes

Such filling for the storage system in the hallway will be convenient for the family. For example, the husband's outerwear will hang in the right compartment, and the wife's outerwear will hang in the left compartment. Or in one compartment the clothes of both spouses fit, and the other compartment is allocated for storing children's clothes.

Having the opportunity to install a four-door wardrobe, you do not have to make four different compartments inside it. Due to the free space inside the cabinet, you can make the central section more spacious by combining the second and third compartments. Or vice versa, make a narrow compartment in the middle, but increase the size of the side compartments.

Filling corner wardrobes

Corner storage systems benefit from the fact that thanks to them the maximum space in the room is filled, including the corner area.

If you make a corner cabinet deep, then it turns into a mini dressing room. It is convenient to place not only a clothes rail, but also open shelves, closed drawers, shoe baskets and long upper shelves for storing suitcases or hats.

Inside the corner cabinet you can store an ironing board or a vacuum cleaner

Master Class. How to assemble and install wardrobe doors

Let's see how the process of installing compartment doors for a built-in wardrobe type takes place. In this case, the interior of the furniture is already assembled and installed, in order to use it, it is only necessary to install the doors.

Step 1. The first step is to buy or rent all the tools. In this case, you will need a screwdriver, an aluminum saw (a miter saw will be used here), a puncher equipped with a drill. Scissors and tape measure, drills and hexagons, etc. can come in handy.

Step 2 First of all, you will need to install the upper rail of the compartment system on the ceiling. To do this, you first need to measure the width of the opening (for example, from wall to wall).

Step 4 Now you need to drill holes in the profile to mount it on the ceiling. There are three pairs in total, at the beginning of the profile, in the middle and at the end. But there may be more.

Step 5 Together with an assistant, you need to lift the profile and align it along the end of the cabinet, and then fasten it with self-tapping screws. Without the help of another person, this will not be easy.

Step 6 Now you can proceed to the installation of the bottom rail for the doors. In the same way as in the case of the top rail, you first need to take measurements.

Step 7 Again, you need to mark the desired size of the rail on the metal profile, and then saw off the segment with a saw.

Step 8 Next, in the place where the rail will be mounted, you need to lay the prepared section of the profile until it is fixed. At this stage, it is required to insert compartment doors into it and make marks on the lower rail in the places where the stoppers will be installed.

Step 9 Then, after fitting, you need to install stoppers on the rail in the right places and then screw the bottom rail to the floor or the bottom of the cabinet. The bottom rail can be fixed with double-sided tape. Then, before sticking, you must first degrease the surface, and only after that glue the adhesive tape itself.

Step 10 After that, you can install the doors in place. The wheels on the bottom of the doors should fit into the corresponding grooves.

In this case, the wheels are already installed on the doors themselves. But how to fix them correctly if they were separate? There is nothing complicated here either.

Step 1. The cabinet must have special fittings. If the cabinet is made by hand, then such accessories can be bought separately in the store. It is a metal element of various types - with and without a wheel. Those that do not have wheels are mounted at the top of the door at a short distance from its side edge, but flush with the top end. You need to fasten the fittings with self-tapping screws.

Step 2 The second type of fittings, which has wheels, must be fixed at the bottom of the door so that the height is optimal. Each type of element must be fixed two pieces on each sash.

Step 4 First, the sash must be brought into the far upper rail, and then, gently lifting the door, install the wheels on the lower rail. The rest of the doors are installed similarly, but on the near rail, etc.

Attention! Depending on the type of construction, the wheels on the doors can be located both at the bottom and at the top of the cabinet.

How to make additional shelves with your own hands? Step-by-step instruction

Over time, your storage priorities may change and you will need to redo the interior filling of the closet. You can do it yourself by removing extra shelves or make additional ones with your own hands.

Step 1. Make room for a new shelf.

Step 2 Take measurements of the depth and width of the space with a tape measure.

Step 3 Purchase the appropriate material from the store (wooden boards, plywood, MDF, chipboard) and fastening (furniture corner or euro screw).

Step 4 Using a jigsaw, cut the shelf to the appropriate size.

Step 5 Using a screwdriver, attach the mount on one side to the shelf, on the other side to the cabinet.
