Do-it-yourself wardrobe: step-by-step instructions and recommendations on how to make a stylish and reliable wardrobe. Making cabinets from chipboard - simple and affordable about self-assembly technology How to make a small cabinet

A closet is always something big and solid. Along with the bed, it should be installed in any living room. If you can still put up with the lack of, for example, a TV, a microwave oven or a spare towel, then a closet is simply vital. Wardrobe items scattered around the apartment are not the most presentable sight. Yes, and it is at least inconvenient. Prices in various furniture stores are sometimes overpriced by 300% or more of the cost of the product, so it is much more interesting and profitable to figure out how to make a cabinet with your own hands. You don't have to reinvent the wheel - everything has already been done for you. It remains only to understand the manufacturing technology and adjust the product to the desired dimensions. As an example, a medium-sized wardrobe will be considered. This option is quite simple to assemble, convenient and very functional.

Detailing a homemade wardrobe

The following dimensions are determined based on the use of laminated chipboard. Board thickness - 18 mm. A self-adhesive 0.5 mm melamine edge is also used. For facades, a standard sliding system can be used. It can be bought in specialized stores ready-made or ordered according to your size. Facade system as a result is several times cheaper than a finished cabinet. As an example, we will consider how to make a do-it-yourself cabinet with a height of 2284 mm and a width of 1164 mm. These are the dimensions of the clean opening under the door. you can adjust the dimensions to suit your needs.

Drawers are mounted on the so-called. full roll-out guides from a trusted manufacturer.

It is impossible to use roller guides for the inner drawers of a home-made cabinet, because. they take up a lot of space and do not withstand heavy loads.

Before starting work, it is necessary to take into account all the nuances and requirements, even those that, on the surface, may seem insignificant. It is important to do everything right, because. it will take a lot of time, effort and nerves to remake.

The photo shows a two-tone wardrobe made by hand. The purchase of two types of boards is justified when a set of cabinet furniture is made, however, when assembling one product, different trimmings remain. Choose the color scheme of your choice.

You will need the following materials:

  • 2 boards 240x65 cm for the sidewalls of a homemade cabinet. It is better to prepare a sample for the plinth in advance, so that the finished cabinet will fit right up to the wall.
  • 1 board 228.4x55 cm for the partition. Immediately mark the right and left sides on it;
  • 1 board 120x75 cm for the top cover. This board should be rounded and protrude forward 10 cm in relation to the sidewalls - it’s more beautiful;
  • 1 board 116.4x65 cm for the bottom;
  • 2 boards 116.4x10 cm - plinths;
  • 3 boards 50x55 cm for the left shelves from the side of the drawers;
  • 3 boards 64.6x55 cm for the right shelves;
  • 2 boards 49.5x20 cm for drawer fronts;
  • 4 boards 50x15 cm for the sides of the boxes;
  • 4 boards 43.8x15 cm for the back and front walls of the drawers.

You will also need hardboard blanks:

  • 231.5x119.5 cm for the back wall;
  • 2 parts 47.2x50 cm for the bottom of the boxes.

Before starting work, prepare the following tools:

  • drill;
  • perforator;
  • level;
  • roulette;
  • a hammer;
  • glue;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • dowel;
  • hacksaw for metal and wood.

The bars for the hangers are sawn off from a single product with a diameter of 22 mm. This product can be purchased at a store specializing in the sale of furniture fittings. The same store sells end fasteners for rods. A single rod is cut into parts, the length of which should be 1 mm less than the width of the shelves, i.e. specifically in this case, 645 and 499 mm. This gap is needed for greater ease of installation.

Drawer handles can also be bought at a store that sells furniture fittings. Choose beautiful handles that will fit well into the interior of the room.

Part preparation

To saw off all the necessary details with the required accuracy, you need, first of all, a circular saw equipped with a disc with victorious soldering. If you do not have this tool, the best option is to order sawing in some hardware store specializing in the sale of hardboard and chipboard, or in companies that manufacture custom-made cabinet furniture - this is very inexpensive.

And on gluing the edges, you can save a lot by doing everything yourself. The edge is very cheap and is quite simply attached to the surface with an iron.

Turn on the iron to ¾ of its highest power and follow the instructions. Attach the edge of the selected color with the adhesive side to the end, then iron it. Repeat several times. Then iron the edge with a soft, dry cloth, trying to press the edges as tightly as possible, and cut off the excess with a dull knife. It is advisable to use a blunt knife - this will reduce the risk of damaging the laminate. For roughness, use fine-grained sandpaper wrapped around, for example, a small wooden block or any other similar object.

Any wardrobe, and especially one that is made by hand, must be durable and reliable. However, at the same time, fasteners accessible to ordinary people should be used for work. The best solution is confirmations. The size of confirmations may differ, in the case of this cabinet, products with a length of 7 cm and a diameter of 0.5 cm are suitable. How fasteners are made is shown in the following image: Fig. 2.

Through holes are made into the plane, into the end - to a depth of about 60 mm. In this case, the diameter of the holes should be 8 mm and 5 mm, respectively.

The boxes are assembled as shown in the following image: Fig. 3.

It is most reliable to make all the shelves of the cabinet stationary. If desired, several shelves can be made removable by arranging them on the shelves. However, in this case, as practice shows, you have to drill new holes almost every time you need to shift something in the closet.

The market of furniture products simply surprises with its diversity. But, despite this, it is very difficult to find something truly unique and inimitable even in such a huge commodity flow. This statement is also true for cabinets. Designer models cost a lot of money, and in the workshop they will ask for a considerable amount for personal production.

But making a cabinet with your own hands from chipboard will remain the most profitable way to acquire something truly unique. To do this, you will need: a drill, a set of drills, screwdrivers, a clerical knife and an iron. If you prefer to cut chipboard yourself, then you need to have an electric jigsaw, as well as special skins for grinding and leveling surfaces.

How to make a wardrobe with your own hands from chipboard?

Before proceeding with the construction of the structure, it is necessary to carry out some preparatory work:

  1. Site selection and sizing. Before making a cabinet, you need to choose a place for it in the room. After all, the dimensions of the assembly elements and the final design will depend on this. Then you need to make all the necessary measurements (width, height, depth).
  2. Drafting. In order to choose the right assembly, fastening, connecting and decorative elements, you need to draw up a layout of the desired design. It must take into account all dimensions, the number of shelves, hooks, their placement in the internal volume, etc. To do this, it is enough to have a measuring tape, a pencil and a piece of paper.
  3. Preparing chipboard boards. In accordance with the layout drawn up, it is necessary to cut the plates. You can use your own tool (for example, a jigsaw), but this requires some skill. The easiest option is to contact professional carpenters. They will do it quickly and efficiently.
  4. Selection of accessories. One of the important stages is the choice of fittings. You should take into account all the features of a particular design, as well as your own style preferences.

type of cabinet made of chipboard - hinged doors
cabinet drawings

Before proceeding with the assembly, it is necessary to prepare the swing doors for the cabinet. First you need to choose the size of the door. Vertically, they must fit into the opening exactly to the millimeter. Otherwise, the doors may not fit or completely cover the internal cavity of the structure.

The width of each door should be selected with the expectation that they will be mounted on special elements that also have their own width. Therefore, it is necessary to take the horizontal dimension 2-3 mm less than the entire opening.

To give the hinged doors for the cabinet a more aesthetic appearance, you can use special furniture tapes. They are glued to the side faces of chipboard boards, hiding their internal structure.

Assembly - the main stage in the manufacture of a cabinet with your own hands from chipboard

After all the necessary elements and accessories are ready, you can proceed to assembly of the structure. It is carried out in the following order:

  1. Using a drill and special drills for confirmation, we prepare holes for docking joints. All openings must be taken into account: for shelves, hangers, partitions, etc.
  2. We connect together the bottom, sides and top of the cabinet. To do this, it is enough to arm yourself with a screwdriver and screws. First of all, we lay the lower part, then alternately attach the side walls to it and lay the upper partition on the U-shaped structure.
  3. At the base of the cabinet, we install fixtures for shelves, hooks and other elements. The correctness of their installation can be checked with a level. Opposite fasteners must be placed strictly horizontally.
  4. At the very end, hinged doors for the cabinet are fastened. Before installation, it is better to mount the handles, because in the future it will be more difficult to do.

The last step is to polish the appearance of the cabinet. A decorative edge is glued along all cut edges of chipboard plates. All confirmations are hidden under special plugs, the color of which matches the design of the entire structure. Also, if desired, you can install mirrors, lighting and other functional or decorative elements.

The resulting cabinet, with a responsible approach to its manufacture, will have a sufficiently high strength and stability. But most importantly, it will be a unique element of your interior, which fits perfectly into the dimensions of the room. At the same time, the price of such furniture is much lower than the cost of similar models in the store.

Making cabinets from chipboard - simple and affordable about self-assembly technology

Decided to make a small wardrobe on your own and do not know what materials to use for this? As the best material for self-manufacturing furniture, I recommend chipboard. I will also talk about what this material is good for and how to make a cabinet out of it yourself.

The most popular furniture material

Is it possible to independently assemble furniture from chipboard in a home workshop? Of course, you can, because chipboard (chipboard) is a popular, easy-to-process and affordable material. You can work with such material even without much carpentry experience. Order the cutting of parts at the factory and you will have to confine yourself to the assembly of the structure.

What can be assembled from chipboard? From chipboard, you can make any modification of cabinets belonging to the category of cabinet furniture. There is such a choice of chipboard on the market, which will be enough to assemble the body of a two-section cabinet, and to make the facade, and to make the internal filling.

Advantages of handmade chipboard furniture

There are many advantages, including:

  • Affordable furniture price. Laminated chipboard costs half as much as quality plywood of the same thickness and of course less than furniture fronts. Therefore, the choice of such material can reduce the cost of finished furniture.
  • Ability to assemble furniture that fits into the interior. A wide range of color and textured particle boards is on sale, and therefore it will be possible to choose a material for wallpaper and other elements of the surroundings in the room.
  • Wide range of sizes. The chipboard on sale is represented by materials with a thickness of 10 to 28 mm. From these materials, you can choose an option for assembling any components in the cabinet design. That is, the furniture can be entirely assembled from chipboard.
  • Durability. Subject to proper assembly and proper operation, furniture made from chipboard will not have to be repaired and painted for a long time. Proper operation means maintaining optimal humidity and air temperature in the room.

Are there any disadvantages that need attention? There is an opinion that particle board is environmentally unsafe due to the formaldehyde content in the binder. There is such a problem, but if the laminated film is not damaged and an edge is glued to the end, the emission of volatile substances will not exceed the permissible norm and the cabinet you have assembled will be no more dangerous than a solid wood set.

DIY furniture: work with chipboard at home

How to independently assemble furniture from chipboard? First you need to decide what you want to do. That is, you need an understanding of the design, functionality and dimensions of the future cabinet.

At this stage, you can use standard drawings or sketch out a sketch of your dream cabinet on paper. Next, you will have to prepare materials, perform sawing in accordance with the drawings, purchase the necessary fittings and assemble the prepared parts together.

Drawing

For inspiration, I offer a selection of standard drawings, from which you can choose a good option for self-assembly of the cabinet.

How to make kitchen furniture with your own hands from chipboard

Now you know how to make a chipboard cabinet for use in a residential area. Is it possible to make the same furniture for use in the kitchen?

Of course, it is possible, since the differences between conventional cabinet furniture and kitchen counterparts are minimal and consist only in size and filling elements. If chipboard with a thickness of 16 mm is used to assemble conventional cases, then a plate with a thickness of at least 30 mm is required for the manufacture of countertops.

Material preparation

Illustrations Materials and accessories for cabinet assembly

Laminated chipboard (LDSP). For the manufacture of cabinet furniture we use a laminate with a thickness of 16 mm.

Fibreboard (Fibreboard). Fiberboard 3-5 mm thick will be required to install the back wall of cabinet furniture.

Mounting hardware. This category includes confirmations, self-tapping screws, shelf holders and dowels, if the connection is to be glued.

Hardware for door mounting. Accessories are selected depending on which cabinet is to be assembled. For ordinary furniture, swivel hinges are sufficient, while a more complex mechanism is purchased for sliding wardrobes.

Decorating elements. To assemble cabinet furniture, you will need an edge with a width corresponding to the thickness of the chipboard. In addition, you will need plugs or stickers that cover the holes for the screws.

Instruments

The choice of tools depends on who will perform the cutting. If you will do the cutting of the parts yourself, you will need a stationary circular saw and a jigsaw. In addition, you will need a screwdriver, a measuring tool, clamps, an iron for gluing the edges.

The cabinet body will be assembled on the floor, so free up enough space by moving the furniture to the walls. Cover the floor with packing cardboard or similar materials to prevent damage during assembly.

Assembly

The process of assembling furniture from a ready-made kit begins with the manufacture of a body - a frame consisting of lateral upper and lower parts. After the body is assembled, fiberboard is stuffed from the inside.

The body of the assembled furniture is lifted and installed close to the wall, where it will be subsequently used. Inside the assembled case, the filling is installed, selected in accordance with the functional purpose of the cabinet. doors are installed according to the drawing.

How to edge chipboard

In order not to paint the ends of particle boards, we close the edge with a special tape.

Illustrations Types of edge bands

Melamine based. This is a flat tape with a thickness of 0.5-0.8 mm without a transverse profile. Adhesive and non-adhesive modifications are on sale.

The adhesive tape is applied to the end of the plate and heated with an iron, as a result, the hot-melt adhesive softens and sticks.

Pasting the tape without hot glue is carried out with the preliminary application of separately purchased glue.

PVC. An elastic edge is made from polyvinyl chloride, which does not require gluing, since it has a special transverse profile made in the form of the letter “P” and “T”.

How to attach pvc tape

Illustrations Installation of furniture end tape

T-shaped. A groove 8 mm deep and 2 mm wide is cut along the end face. The edge is applied with a spike to the cutout and driven in with a mallet along the entire length.

U-shaped. We apply the tape so that its edges wrap around the end of the plate. We pass with a mallet along the entire length of the plate, so that the tape lies equally evenly.

Correct marking and centering of holes on chipboard

How to properly mark chipboard? When assembling cabinet furniture, it is often necessary to mark the distance at several points with the same indent from the edge of the furniture. You can do this using a square. We alternately apply the square to the edge and mark the indentation along the holes to the required distance.

But there is an easier and more convenient way. On the aluminum corner, we drill a hole at the required distance from the edge and mark according to this template. Laminated chipboard is a material with a smooth surface, and therefore, when marking holes, we punch with an awl or a punch. Such marking will not be erased and, in addition, the drill will not slip off.

How to drill? In order to screw a self-tapping screw or a confirmation into a chipboard, a hole is drilled with a diameter of 2 mm less than the diameter of the hardware used. We install the drill along the tilted markings and drill at low speeds with pressure. Of course, we use sharpened drills.

Installing drawers with guides

Illustrations Types of telescopic rails

Roller. Such guides consist of two skids, each of which has one roller. When the drawer is pulled out, the runners roll over rollers spaced relative to each other.

The disadvantage of such guides is that the plastic on the rollers crumbles and after a year they will have to be repaired.

Ball. In such designs, the main skids and their counterpart are assembled together using bearings. Drawers on such guides leave smoothly, and such fittings last longer than roller ones.

How to install? One part of the rails is attached to the inner wall of the case, while the counterpart is installed on the side of the box. Fastening is carried out on self-tapping screws 20 mm long. Before attaching the guides, measurements are taken so that the box subsequently stands up straight without distortions.

Facade

Which facades are preferable to use for assembling furniture from chipboard? The best option is the facades of the same chipboard.

Additional elements

Additional elements of the cabinet include decor and filling. Filling elements are shelves, drawers, rails for hangers, etc. Most of these elements can be made from the same particle board. Therefore, choosing a chipboard for the manufacture of a cabinet, you can handle the assembly using only this material.

Currently, many rural residents cannot afford to buy new furniture for their home. And city apartments do not always have a large area where it would be possible to place household items. But, despite this, the people still learned to cope with these problems on their own. To do this, you can make a wooden cabinet with your own hands, without the services of specialists. It is not particularly difficult to carry out such a design at home, but in order for the furniture to have a long service life, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the sequence and nuances of the work in advance.

Today, the consumer market provides a variety of wooden materials for the manufacture of household items. Therefore, before proceeding to consider such a question as how to make a cabinet yourself, you first need to decide what material it will be made of. According to experts, the best products for these works are:

  • plywood - this multilayer material has high wear resistance and strength. In addition, due to environmental friendliness, it is absolutely harmless to human health. Plywood is produced in solid slabs, which simplifies the process of assembling household items;
  • Chipboards - chipboard sheets are considered the most popular products for creating home furniture. This is due to the fact that they combine good quality at an affordable price. These products are resistant to changes in temperature and moisture, do not deform under the influence of an aggressive environment and are characterized by increased strength;
  • solid wooden boards - the material from the boards is sawn from different types of wood. They are produced in different sizes, certain types of processing and the quality of carpentry. For the construction of furniture, boards from pine, birch and oak are mainly selected. These rocks are endowed with high strength and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity.

Do-it-yourself installation of pine household items is a laborious process, since the rock is not hard enough. But when choosing this material, it will be possible to create an extravagant design in any room.

wooden boards

So, having considered the options for the materials that will be needed for the manufacture of furniture, you should also familiarize yourself with the tools for performing the work. The production of cabinets is carried out by the following equipment:

  • hand saw for sawing wood;
  • grinder, for polishing the surface of wood;
  • goniometer, for measuring the angle of inclination;
  • ruler or meter tape, for measuring sizes;
  • wooden dowels, for fastening the product and filling;
  • metal corners, for fastening the furniture structure;
  • joiner's plate, for the manufacture of racks;
  • mastic, for sealing the structure.

In addition, in order to revive a household item with the desired shade, you will need to purchase water-based acrylic paint.

The nuances of work, taking into account the type of construction

There are several ways to build a wooden wardrobe with your own hands.

Corpus

As you can see from the photo, cabinet furniture consists of several constituent elements, so it is also commonly called modular. A feature of such a cabinet is that the owners, at will, can supplement it with various internal and external elements. Initially, the design of the product is developed so that all the details are combined with each other and the body. To build a hull, you will need elements such as a roof, bottom, back and side walls. All these elements can be made in the form of removable straight shelves on which things will be located. It will also be possible to additionally build a retractable shoe cabinet.

Preparation of grooves for fastening shelves

It is better to assemble the structure in a horizontal position

Vertical face pads

built-in

A distinctive feature of the built-in wardrobe is that it can be made from improvised materials. The fact is that it is mainly installed in the niches of the room or in those places where it is not possible to place standard furniture. A one-piece body is not required to build a cabinet. It may be missing one or more walls, which are replaced by the floor, ceiling, or walls of the building. Filling elements, as a rule, can be made in the same way as for cabinet furniture. But having constructed such a cabinet with their own hands from improvised materials, the consumer must be prepared for the fact that, unlike a cabinet product, this furniture cannot be moved to another place.

The design of each cabinet requires not only the presence of a body and internal filling, but also a front part. Doors are the main element of the facade.

When making a built-in wardrobe, it is important to correctly mark the place for future shelves.

Shelves must be securely attached

Special lags are required for fastening doors

Door fixing

Today, the consumer market offers various systems for fastening furniture doors. Each element has its own specific purpose, which depends on how the cabinet is opened.

Swing

Swing doors are the most common type of furniture design. It consists of a wooden canvas and hardware for fasteners. The number of canvases for the cabinet depends on the number of internal sections. As a rule, if the cabinet has one common section, two doors will be required. If the furniture will consist of one narrow and one wide section, three doors will be required, respectively. Door fastening is carried out on the side walls of the cabinet using the following hinges:

  • detachable - such a mount is installed on the inside of the cabinet wall;
  • universal - these products can be installed regardless of the sides of the cabinet. Hinges are attached simultaneously to the body and doors of the furniture.

After the hinges are fixed on the product box, doors are hung on them.

Hole preparation

Alignment and installation of loops

coupe

Compartment doors are a sliding system where, when the cabinet is opened, one door overlaps another. The installation of such a design requires certain knowledge and skills, therefore, before you mount a sliding plywood cabinet with your own hands, you first need to familiarize yourself with the name of the components and their location.

Hardware set includes:

  • special wheels for moving doors, installed in their upper and lower parts;
  • upper suspension structure, for guiding the canvases;
  • the lower guide structure along which the door wheels will move in the grooves;
  • cassettes for installing a wooden canvas;
  • locks and door closer for easy opening of doors.

This design is intended for cabinet furniture with a threshold. If a built-in wardrobe is to be mounted, it will be possible not to install the lower guide elements on the floor.

Markup and drawings

Before you make a cabinet from a lining with your own hands, you first need to mark up its location in the room and draw up a design drawing. Such preliminary procedures will help to quickly assemble cabinet or built-in furniture.

In the layout of the cabinet, it is necessary to take into account its width and height. To do this, first measure the intended location of its installation with a tape measure. When carrying out measuring work, it is important to take into account the distance from skirting boards, window sills, pipelines and connectors for connecting electrical appliances. If you lose sight of these points, the wooden cabinet may not fit in the allotted place, or in the future there may be obstacles when opening the doors or approaching the power source.

For a do-it-yourself cabinet, drawings can be created using an automated CAD program or by hand. In the first case, the cabinet layout is drawn up by a special computer system, in the second case, do-it-yourself cabinet drawings are made. As practice has shown, the second option is simpler, so it is chosen more often. To create a freehand drawing, you will need a piece of paper and a pencil. Next, sketches of the cabinet are drawn on the sheet.

Description of drawing up a drawing of a wooden product:

  • front view of the cabinet - this sketch includes the width and height of the furniture, the height of the plinth, the size of the sections, the distance between the shelves from each other. When drawing up a drawing, it is important to take into account the thickness of the walls of the furniture and its content. You also need to specify the attachment points for shelves and doors;
  • top and side view - in this case, the depth of furniture and shelves is applied to a sheet of paper. When drawing filling depths, it is important to take into account the fastening of the doors. So that the shelves do not interfere with the installation of mounting hardware, they should be located at a distance of 10 cm from the edge of the front wall of the furniture. Also on this sketch, you need to specify the rounding of the shelves with a radius - R.

In addition to the indicated values of the furniture body, on a sheet of paper you need to draw the dimensions of the filling elements. Shelves can be made in different configurations and thicknesses, but they must be of the appropriate size.

Parts manufacturing

Having made a drawing of the design of the cabinet with your own hands and having prepared the appropriate equipment, you can begin to manufacture its parts. To do this, the dimensions of the furniture elements are transferred to a sheet of chipboard using a meter and a pencil:

  • the upper part of the cabinet in the amount - 1 pc;
  • side walls in the amount - 2 pcs;
  • bottom in quantity - 1 pc;
  • rear wall in quantity - 1 pc;
  • furniture shelves in the amount of individual preference of the consumer.

Next, with the help of a saw along the marked lines, a phased cutting of parts begins. When performing these works, it is necessary to take into account the thickness of the saw itself, otherwise the furniture elements after sawing will be smaller.

Always appreciated. But factory options are not available to every family. And if you have the desire and some building skills, you can create your own work of authorship.

The easiest way would be to make a cabinet out of wood. However, its design depends on what you will store in it: clothes, wine, books, kitchen utensils. It is worth considering where the cabinet will be located.

Choosing the right type

Given the purpose and the room in which it will be installed, the following types of cabinets are distinguished:

In addition, there is a built-in, kitchen with drawers, a display cabinet and others.

Wood material options

The quality of the finished product directly depends on the breed. The easiest way to process coniferous varieties (pine, spruce), and the price of such cabinets is acceptable. However, in terms of service life, they are several times inferior to solid oak, walnut or birch. They are more difficult to work with, but their material is more durable.

It is worth choosing furniture sets made of beech with caution. This breed is afraid of moisture and, with its increased rate, quickly absorbs moisture and swells.

Let us consider in more detail the types of lumber from which you can make a good wooden cabinet.

Boards

A popular raw material for cabinet furniture. Regardless of the breed, they have high strength.

Do not forget about the thickness of the material. For a high-quality cabinet made of boards, it should be from 15 mm and above.

So the design will have a sufficient level of rigidity. If this is a small cabinet for dishes, keys, then a thickness of 10 mm is enough.

Reiki

In the production of furniture are considered auxiliary material. They look like flat bars or thin planks. The raw material is coniferous trees. Used as fasteners of the main parts of the cabinet. Lightweight, not afraid of moisture.

bar

It is used to create racks of the cabinet frame. The recommended cross-sectional dimensions are 40*40, 50*50 mm. Timber material is used only if the structure is installed in a heated room.

For the manufacture of the back walls of a wardrobe or compartment, you can take sheets of chipboard (chipboard) or plywood.

Shields

There are two types:

Making a cabinet from solid pine at home: step by step instructions

This breed has a soft structure, so it can be easily processed in any way. Doesn't rot. Natural massive raw materials have a good effect on the microclimate in the room.

A pine cabinet will fit perfectly into such interior styles as:

  • modern;
  • country;
  • classic;
  • high tech.

But before starting work, it is worth preparing a visual drawing of the future design, where the dimensions of all the details will be painted, a frame with the location of the internal shelves is shown.

Dimensional scheme of the cabinet frame

With the help of such a scheme, the amount of materials is calculated, the total cost estimate is knocked out.

When buying raw materials, you should pay attention to:

  • uniformity of wood relief;
  • lack of layers, knots;
  • dense arrangement of growth rings.

Otherwise, the pine will not be strong enough, which will significantly reduce the life of the product.

What materials and tools will be needed

You need to prepare in advance:

Choosing the necessary accessories

You should consider how the doors will open in the closet: in a sliding way, swinging or using telescopic rails.

For beginners in the construction business, you need to take the second type as a basis and buy ordinary curtains. They will be inexpensive.

In addition, you must have:

To save money, it is allowed to use fittings from old furniture.

Preparation of product details

Parts of the frame can be cut by hand. Another option is to make an individual order, and the craftsmen will cut out the details for you according to the provided drawing.

Of course, self-cutting with grinding is a laborious process, but it saves the family budget.

Consider the manufacture of a cabinet with dimensions of 1.8 m * 1.5 m * 0.5 m (height * width * depth) with hinged doors.

For the top and bottom frame, a total of 4 m of pine timber is required, vertical racks - 7.2 m.

On the back wall, top, floor, we measure a sheet of chipboard or thick plywood.

Assembly

The build guide looks like this:

Upon completion, the operation of the doors is checked, the absence of gaps between the parts.

A smaller cabinet can be made wall-mounted, and to save space, build it on a balcony or a glazed loggia.

Coating the product with varnish

You can emphasize the beauty of natural wood by varnishing it.

The description of this processing is best considered in stages:

  1. The surface is carefully polished with a machine.
  2. Noticeable cracks, problem areas are puttied to match the wood.
  3. As soon as the putty hardens, it must also be sanded.
  4. After that, you should start varnishing. The liquid is applied to the tree with a small brush or sponge. Do it better in two layers.
  5. After waiting for the varnish to dry, the surface is polished.

Fans of the antique style can make an antique cabinet with their own hands, adding age to the tree artificially.

At the cottage, terraces and verandas are furnished with such furniture. It will fit well into the style of Provence, country, if at the same time you choose the right fabric for curtains and other details.

In addition, the product can be painted in colors close to natural, or treated with wax mastic.
