I have long promised a series of posts based on the post about. In the near future, we will just start going through the closet, putting away summer clothes on the back shelves with a sigh and hanging warm cardigans, woolen dresses on hangers, taking scarves, scarves and boots out of the depths. Therefore, it's time to start a conversation :-)

In the last post, many complained that there is not enough space, nothing fits, nowhere to put it, nothing to wear, everything is logical :-) And here our conversation can be made very short.

*suddenly in a scary voice* THROW OUT everything you don’t need and everything you don’t wear, and you’ll have space in even the smallest closet. And something tells me that at this point you will mentally send me to hell :-) Who will part with their dear, valuable, found by the sweat of their brow at a sale and torn from the hands of a competitor. I’m like that myself, I’ve been walking around the closet for a month now, and most importantly, I know very clearly that I need to throw it away or give it away, but my hand doesn’t rise. My treasures! :-) But we will discuss the topic of throwing away in detail, and today we’ll talk about how not to get completely bogged down in a pile of clothes and shoes, and how to organize it all. I scoured the sites and found different storage ideas. I will also try to answer the questions that came up in that post. I won’t help with just one thing, I won’t lend you money for a new wardrobe and a bigger apartment, I wish someone would give it to me :-)

Organize the space, a very large post with a lot of pictures:

1. All things on hangers and at the same time, each on its own, in no case in layers - this, of course, is an ideal that is unattainable for many. But if there is such an opportunity, then it is better to hang everything, even tank tops. At the same time, it is good that the hangers are equally thin, this way you can save space. The only thing is jackets, it’s better to choose special hangers for them, otherwise things will lose their shape. There are some heavy knitted items that are best stored on a shelf to prevent them from stretching out, but they are in the minority. There are hangers like this, they save a little space in the closet, and at the same time things remain in sight.

Hangers and hooks for scarves and belts:

To prevent things from sliding off the hanger, you can glue the following tape:

If possible, hang a hanging rod in two rows, hang skirts, trousers, jeans on the lower rod, and blouses, tops, sweaters, cardigans on the upper rod. And sort it all by type of clothing, blouses to blouses, trousers to trousers. Plus, don’t forget to leave room for long items and don’t put a barbell underneath them: dresses, maxi skirts, coats, and raincoats will go here.

You can also sort by capsules, in one corner everything is for sports, in another - for the office, in the third - recreation, if there is a clear division of things into different categories, of course.

You can also sort by color, and I thought about this option for myself, but I realized that this would not help me much in choosing clothes in the morning. Moreover, in my closet there is a tendency to reduce the number of colors, I come to the conclusion that 2-3 basic and 2-3 bright colors in the closet are quite enough. It is not necessary for the closet to look like a rainbow. Still, there’s nothing to wear with half of it.

2. Pull-out shelves are very convenient. The main thing is not to put small things there, such as underwear and socks; when the shelf is pulled out, they will fall back onto the shelf at a lower level. I have three stacks of things on my shelf, two in front and one across the back, usually things for the next season in the back. That is, if it’s summer, then in front are T-shirts, tops, thin sweaters, T-shirts, and in the back are thicker sweaters, woolen items.

3. It is better to put laundry in drawers. Socks, tights, and knee socks can be stored in pull-out baskets. Immediately after washing, I sort the knee socks and knee socks and roll them into a ball in pairs, otherwise you won’t be able to find them later; you can use the dividers, both built-in ones and those in the last two pictures from Ikea.

4. When space is really bad, it makes sense to completely remove things from the closet until the next fall-winter, for example, or spring-summer. You can put things in zippered drawers and put them under the bed.

The main thing is to understand what things you definitely won’t need. Down jackets, fur coats and other warm clothes can be safely put away for the summer, but a warm cardigan can come in handy on a cold summer evening, so it can be folded second row on the shelf.
Vacuum bags are also a lifesaver; they are good for storing things that are large or small, pregnant items, if you plan to return to them. You can also go there with something that is out of fashion; in 30 years your daughter or son will get it and it will be “vintage” for them :-)

5. Shoes can be stored in boxes, or in transparent ones so that you can see what’s in them, or you can paste photos onto regular boxes.

You can store it on shelves, but it doesn’t seem practical to me, and the sizes of shoes are different, and it’s not the best option for boots, and it’s not particularly hygienic; it’s better to put bags in such niches.

More options:

The shoes that we wear now are laid out in a special shoe closet in the hallway. Often in such closets there is space for one row of shoes; it is better to buy two at once.

Second option for a shoe cabinet:

Other options for the hallway:

Boot storage:
With this storage method, boots are likely to become deformed.

But from the “do it yourself” series. The picture below shows the inserts in boots made of wood. These metal pieces were then unscrewed from them at the base and a hook was screwed in:

And this is what happened:

6. It is better to make a closet right up to the ceiling, especially if there is not a lot of space in the room. You can always put summer/winter blankets on top, we store some shoes that are rarely needed, a picnic blanket, and small suitcases.

The ideal men's dressing room :-)

7. It would be nice to have a chest of drawers in addition to the closet. Pull-out shelves can be used for linen, jewelry, ties, scarves, scarves, socks and other small items that are constantly lost in the closet. By the way, a cute idea is to line the bottom of the drawers with gift paper.

8. It’s usually inconvenient and too lazy to bend down to the very bottom of the closet, so there I store bed linen, towels, again boxes with shoes in a “thin layer” and some things that seem to be out of season, but may come in handy, just in case of warm weather. cardigan in the summer. You can also store various drawers and drawers with small items there.

9. Bags can be stored both outside and inside the closet. For example, you can hang something like this on the outside wall of a closet or inside. But this option is only suitable for bags that are used quite often (otherwise they will gather dust), and if the bags are fabric. Leather ones will quickly lose their shape and the handles will stretch, especially if the bag is heavy.

It is better to store bags on shelves, placing them vertically in a row, you can come up with dividers. I want to move all the bags into the hallway closet when we move. Because more than once it has happened that you seem to get dressed, put on your shoes and realize that you need another bag, but the bag is in the bedroom in the closet, you no longer want to go for it. So, I think the place for shoes and bags is in the hallway, if space allows.

10. For things that have already been worn once, you can buy something like this.

I dream of having a tailor's mannequin to hang my clothes on the next day. This way I will have a view of the image from the outside, otherwise in the mirror it will be one thing, and then in the photo it will be something else. Have you noticed this?

You can collect outfits for several days in advance and hang them together; for this there are very interesting design solutions outside the closet.

Options for children:

11. It’s good to use signs, pictures, signs, and hang photos of outfits on closet doors to organize your space.

12. There are many creative solutions for storing jewelry:

13. If the closet is really small and there is still some space in the room, then you can use these storage options, in addition to the usual rod on wheels:

This is not the most convenient solution, but why not if there is simply no free wall for a closet in the room.

Creative storage ideas help keep your home tidy. Useful life hacks, put into practice, allow you to use every centimeter of space with maximum efficiency. Wise advice makes it possible to store things in such a way that there is a place for every little thing. By following the rules of storage in the house, using interesting ideas from creative people, even in a small apartment you can organize order and comfort.

  • Show all

    Hallway

How much time people spend getting ready for business in the morning determines their mood for the whole day. If you have to look for things for a long time, shoes, coats, gloves, umbrellas, hats are in an unkempt state, combs cannot be found at all, even the most avid optimist will lose a charge of positive energy.

To prevent this from happening, you need to properly organize the space in the hallway. Life hacks that people share with each other will help you find a place for each item and make this room cozy.

    Shoe placement

Boots, shoes, shoes scattered throughout the hallway are not only an external mess. Someone coming in from the street steps on brand new shoes with dirty shoes, and tears off the skin of fashionable boots with a sharp heel. Poor thought out storage of shoes in the hallway is fraught with loss of their quality. Those who are tired of suffering with this problem are offered interesting solutions.

Banquette and wall display for storing shoes

It is convenient to store shoes inside the bench, where the space is divided by inserts: each pair has its own place.

The imitation of a miniature display case on which sneakers and shoes are installed looks beautiful. For it, shelves are attached to the wall along the length of the sole (wooden, hardboard, plastic, packaging foam) in a herringbone pattern or in a checkerboard pattern in the space between the furniture.

Lifehacks for storing high-heeled shoes and boots with tops

A creative hanger for women's shoes and sandals with heels is obtained by gluing ceiling plinths to a vertical surface.

To store high boots on a vertical surface (wall, closet, door), it is recommended to stuff the pins horizontally. Between them are placed the tops of boots, with the soles pointing upward.

    Shoe rack

An original vertical hanger made of pins will save the owners from the need to constantly wipe the floor under shoes and boots standing on the floor, free up space, and make it easy to keep order in the hallway.

A tray that slides under the cabinet will help save space. Summer shoes for constant wear with this method of storage do not get in the way under your feet.

    Wall mounted organizers for slippers

Having taken off his street shoes, a tired man begins to look for indoor slippers. In some apartments this process takes considerable time. A hanging organizer with pockets will help you get rid of the search for slippers. It is made of fabric, oilcloth or polyethylene film.

Combs, keys, bags in the hallway

Before going out, they usually check their hair. Finding a comb among the items on the shelves can be difficult. Someone takes it with them into the room, forgetting to leave it in the hallway. The search problem also applies to keys. The following life hacks will help avoid this:

    • A hook is attached to the wall near the mirror. Make a hole in the handle of the comb and thread a loop through it. Problem solved: the comb always hangs in place. A second similar hanger is a good idea for storing keys.
    • The option with a magnet will help you avoid searching. A magnetic strip on the wall holds a comb with a glued piece of metal and keys.
    • In cardboard and fabric pockets attached to the closet or wall, combs, everyday cosmetics, and keys are stored. Fresh correspondence is placed in a special compartment. Pockets are decorated with applique and embroidery. Such devices are made by hand. They even serve as designer items, decorating the interior.

To save a guest with a bag from unnecessary inconvenience, a hanger is attached to the door frame. Upon entering, a person can easily take off his shoes - a heavy bag hangs on a hook, his hands are free.

Organization of space in the bathroom and bathroom

It’s impossible to turn around in a small separate bathroom with a toilet. Hanging a shelf there is unrealistic. But you can install a narrow compact chest of drawers for household chemicals, toilet paper, and small items. The advice is also suitable for small bathrooms combined with a bathtub.

Despite the small area of the bathroom, you need to place a lot there. Therefore, the system of organizing things in this room is thought out especially carefully. Every centimeter of space and walls should work.

A nightstand is installed under the sink. It closes the drain pipe and household chemicals are placed in it. Shelves and cabinets are hung above the sink. Towels, cosmetics, body care products, and hygiene procedures are stored here.

    Display shelves above the sink

Washcloths, combs, shampoos, shower gels are placed in pockets sewn onto the curtain. To maintain its waterproofness, it is recommended to duplicate it - sew an additional curtain organizer.

    Curtain organizer in the bathroom

A screen with sliding doors is installed under the bathroom. If it protrudes forward by 10 cm, this will increase its capabilities: use the upper protruding surface.

Screen with sliding doors under the bathtub

Dirty laundry is collected in wicker boxes. This will make the bathroom more comfortable: the sight of clothes dumped in a basin after wearing them is an unpleasant sight. You can use them as a banquette or an additional shelf (if the door is located on the side).

Drawer-cabinet for dirty linen in the bathroom

Hangers for towels and bathrobes are attached to the bathroom door. Along its perimeter they build an open narrow showcase with shelves where a lot of necessary things fit.

    Kitchen

This room has long ceased to be a utility room in the house. Here they not only prepare food, but also hold joint tea parties, dine, and even receive guests. Neatness and neatness in the kitchen are extremely necessary.

It is more convenient for the housewife to work in it when everything is at hand and put in its place. It saves time searching for what you need and makes it easier to keep the kitchen clean.

    Lifehacks for food storage

Bulk products in bags take up a lot of space and spill out in cabinets and on the table.

Storing cereals in a sealed container will prevent insects from getting into the food and moisture from being absorbed. This will preserve their quality and increase their service life.

It is convenient to store cereals in glass jars with metal lids screwed to the bottom surface of the shelf. Before use, unscrew the container, pour out the required amount and screw it back into place.

Storing bulk products in glass jars with lids attached to the bottom surface of the shelves

Vegetables cannot be stored in the refrigerator unless there is a special compartment for this. It is not recommended to store them for a long time in plastic bags. In this case, it is worth getting plastic boxes with holes for air.

Plastic rack for vegetables and fruits

Place the containers in a rack, one box on top of another; a compartment is separated from the closet using drawers; push containers with vegetables under cutting tables, if there is space there; Mounted on cabinet doors under the sink.

    Ideas for storing kitchen utensils

Frying pans with long handles, pot lids, graters, devices for rolling out dough, mashed potatoes - items whose dimensions create storage problems. They don’t fit in drawers or lie in one place, creating chaos on tables and shelves. Other storage methods have been invented for such utensils.

    Methods for storing pot lids

It is impossible to stack pot lids. Storing them together with pots is a waste of precious space. Therefore, holders are installed on cabinet doors and walls. There are special designer meshes for lids. When stored this way, they take up minimal space and are always at hand.

Narrow sliding shelving in the kitchen

Frying pans with long handles are also hung on walls and cabinet doors. They equip narrow racks for them, sliding between tables, into openings between the refrigerator and the wall. Such racks are used for storing other kitchen utensils and canning.

    Organize your closet

Socks in a closet drawer lose a pair, so they are folded into a ball, turning the edge of one over this structure. But in the drawer these shapeless rag pellets look like an untidy heap. When searching for the right pair, you have to rummage through a pile of socks, wasting time and getting terribly nervous.

An interesting idea is to make compact honeycomb organizers for socks from toilet paper rolls. They are placed vertically in the box. It is important that the bushings fit right next to each other and do not change position. They are connected to each other with tape and glue.

The Japanese have discovered an amazing method of storing things. Stacked according to Russian tradition, they do not wrinkle and take up little space, but it is difficult to quickly find the item you need. Therefore, you often have to sort through things in closets. The konmari method helps get rid of this problem.

Japanese method of storing things - konmari

Things are put into drawers, rolled up. Rolls are laid vertically (occupying less space) or horizontally (in a low box). It’s easy to find and get an item without moving the rest. Moreover, the order in the box is not disturbed after this.

Method of storing belts and belts

Belts, sashes, and ribbons are difficult to place. A tangled clump of them is intimidating when you need to find the right thing. Vertical racks for storing belts and belts will allow you to do this quickly, without wasting time and nerves.

There are “three pillars” of the science of storing things in a home: compactness, preservation of the quality of things, and ease of getting them out when necessary.

By following simple rules, using your imagination, and using life hacks developed by others, you will be able to solve the problem of order in a home of even a small area.
