Fences made of corrugated sheets: installation technology and combination of materials How to mount a fence made of corrugated sheets by hand

Reading time ≈ 4 minutes

Before you start building a new plot of land, you should take care of a practical and reliable fence. In addition, it is important that your future fencing is free of defects, has excellent aesthetic qualities and blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

Today, there are a whole host of different designs, installation technologies and materials for constructing a protective barrier to a site. It is worth noting that each type of fence has both positive aspects and its own weaknesses. One of the most successful, economical and easy to construct is a structure made of corrugated sheets (also called corrugated sheets or metal profiles), as in the photo.

Building a fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands will not take much effort. All that is needed for this is high-quality building materials, as well as strict adherence to technological construction rules. So, how to make such a fence?

Advantages of a fence made of corrugated sheets

Why should you choose metal profile fencing:

  1. Ease of installation;
  2. Excellent strength and resistance to aggressive environments;
  3. Excellent degree of reliability, protects from unwanted views;
  4. Long service life;
  5. Not demanding in care;

Materials for installing a corrugated fence with your own hands

Of course, the main material of this design is corrugated sheet. This material is made of durable galvanized steel and has a neat ribbed shape. The main advantage of this material over its analogues is its low price, durability and ease of use. So, a list of materials that can be included in estimate:

  1. Profiled sheet C8 or any other brand
  2. Metal pillars 60x60x3x3000 mm, which will act as supports for your fence;
  3. Cross beams 40x25x2x6000 mm
  4. Fastenings: roofing screws or steel rivets 3.2x10 mm
  5. Ruberoid or casing pipes for holes so that the soil does not crumble and does not mix with concrete when concreting pillars
  6. Concrete grade M200 or M250
  7. Sand, crushed stone and cement (if you make concrete mortar manually)
  8. Primer for metal

Step-by-step instructions for installing a fence from corrugated sheets

I. Marking of the adjacent territory.

Before starting marking, it is important to take measurements of the perimeter of your land plot. Next, we calculate the estimated number of required supports (step 2-3 m). Only then can we begin the marking itself. We start by “breaking” the pegs in all corners of the site. We connect the pegs one by one with a well-tensioned thread. Using a tape measure, we take the final dimensions and prepare a complete fencing project.

II. Installation of supports.

Metal pipes of both round and rectangular cross-sections can serve as support posts for your fence. When ordering supports, you should consider that ideally 1/3 of the pole length will be buried. For example, for a fence 2 m high, you will need a foundation pit with a depth of 1-1.5 m (depth of soil freezing), that is, we order pipes with a length of at least 3 m.

After the pits are ready, you should take care of the concrete solution (concrete grades M200 and M250 are suitable).

It is very important to install the supports strictly vertically, which means do not forget to apply a level when pouring the solution into the hole and check that everything is level!

III. Installation of transverse fence joists.

The fence should be constructed at the rate of 1 log per 1 m of fence height. That is, for a fence no more than two meters high, you need to install a couple of logs in parallel.

IV. Installation of corrugated sheets.

The final stage is attaching the corrugated sheets to the fence frame. We join the sheets with an overlap, at least 1 “wave”. For fastening we use roofing screws or rivets.

Sooner or later, the owners of summer cottages or private houses face the question of fencing the territory. To make a fence at your dacha, you don’t need any great skills and abilities. In this case, corrugated sheeting is the best option. It is easy to install and has a long service life. A step-by-step, detailed description of the construction with your own hands, diagrams and drawings, photos and videos will help you complete the work in the shortest possible time and as correctly as possible.

The modern building materials market offers an abundance of options: slate, mesh, boards or metal gratings. Each has pros and cons. Corrugated sheeting remains the most popular and in demand among consumers. Briefly about the advantages:

  • ease of installation;
  • the insignificant weight of the sheets of material facilitates construction work: it can even be installed independently;
  • reliability and durability of building materials. Corrugated sheeting is resistant to frost, temperature changes and rain. Therefore, feel free to count on a long service life (on average 20-25 years);

Corrugated sheeting is a material that will serve you for decades
  • the variety of colors will help you choose any shade for your future design;
  • the strength of the coating ensures that the integrity of the material is maintained even in the event of a strong impact. You can't do without a dent, but it doesn't crumble into pieces like slate;
  • a structure made of corrugated sheeting about 2.5 m high will hide from prying eyes everything that happens on the internal territory, unlike a chain-link fence, forged metal fragments or gratings;
  • additional sound insulation from noise on the other side of the fence.

Corrugated sheeting has several varieties, depending on the top protective coating. The following expert advice will help you understand and determine their quality:

  1. Galvanized surface. The coating is applied at high temperatures. A thin layer of zinc (up to 30 mm) is not enough for the entire service life, so the question of premature replacement of elements arises.
  2. The polymer coating will complement and increase the quality indicators of corrugated board. The aesthetic beauty of the fence also increases with the price.
  3. The polyvinyl chloride surface guarantees increased protection against mechanical damage. It is not surprising, because the layer thickness ranges from 170-205 mm. Despite the durability and strength of such corrugated sheeting, it has one drawback: sensitivity to elevated temperatures (about 79 degrees C), so it is not recommended to use it in hot areas.

Galvanized corrugated sheeting

When purchasing building materials, inquire about the quality certificate and compliance with GOST standards during production. A small difference in price can affect the strength and reliability of corrugated sheeting. It is not advisable to choose a material with a corrugation height of more than 20 mm. Please also note that thin sheets of material (less than 0.45 mm) can be deformed by strong winds.

Advice. The quality of corrugated sheeting should be judged not by price, but by its performance. The optimal option for corrugated sheeting for building a fence will be the following parameters: metal thickness - over 0.45 mm, stiffeners - trapezoidal with a height of 10-20 mm.

We begin construction by installing fence supports

When the corrugated sheeting has been selected, the perimeter and line of the future fence have been determined, you can begin installing the support pillars. A simple support option is metal pipes of small diameter. The best option is pipes with a square cross-section and dimensions of 60 x 60 mm or round pipes with a diameter of about 75 mm.

Advice. Use posts with a square cross-section to make it easier to attach fencing elements in the future.

Pipes are inserted into pre-prepared holes at a strictly 90-degree angle. Check the perpendicularity of the pillars with a level. Crushed stone is laid on top - a 20-centimeter layer is enough to stabilize the pillar. Concrete is poured and the structure is expected to completely harden (at least 3 days). The first stage can be considered completed.

Fence installation diagram

When installing a fence on a slope, you need to take into account several features:

  • it is not necessary to dig deep holes at the highest points;
  • use posts of different lengths to ensure the tops of the entire structure are level;
  • the hole for the post in case of heaving of the soil should exceed the water freezing level;
  • To install supports on loose soils, it is necessary to consider additional reinforcement and compaction of crushed stone (gravel).

Formation of the structure frame

At the second stage, you will need a metal profile with cross-sectional parameters of 40 x 20 mm, a length of 3 m and a thickness of over 2 mm. By fastening adjacent supports, it will strengthen the strength of the structure.

The number of crossbars depends on the height of the proposed fence. It is optimal for a fence height of 1.5 - 1.8 m to use 2 logs located parallel in the upper and lower parts of the structure. For higher heights, the number of crossbars increases accordingly. The logs must be strengthened at a distance of 22-30 cm from the top and bottom edges of the proposed fence.

Regardless of the terrain (slope or flat surface), maintaining the same distance between the logs is mandatory. It's okay if the crossbars are arranged using the ladder method. In the future, the resulting large corner gaps at the bottom can be sealed with corrugated sheets.

Corrugated fence structure

It is better to secure the metal profile to the support posts by welding. This approach guarantees a long period of reliable service. To fasten frame elements without welding, use metal corners.

Construction of fence walls

Attaching the sheets to the installed frame is considered the last stage of construction. To do this, you will need metal screws (19 mm long), a screwdriver or a drill to screw them in. A galvanized bolt or rivet is placed between the corrugated sheet and the screw head. This will ensure secure fastening and prevent damage to the integrity of the material over time.

The corrugated sheet is mounted with an overlap. First, secure the sheet to 4 self-tapping screws on different sides. After making sure that the sheet is installed correctly, screw in the remaining screws based on the distance between them of 50 cm.

Attention! Be sure to install the first sheet evenly so that the subsequent sheets do not become skewed. To do this, use a building level.

Join subsequent sheets of material to the first. There is no longer any need to check with a level that the element is positioned correctly. When constructing a fence on a slope, the sheets are attached with a slight deviation in height. Upon completion of fastening the main sheets, fill the space in the lower part (due to the unevenness of the terrain) with corrugated sheeting if desired.

Installation of a fence made of galvanized corrugated sheets

After the construction of the fence walls, scratches and damage to the coating on the corrugated sheets must be treated with paint. This will prevent damage and corrosion of the material. You can further refine the structure by installing a metal fence along the top edge.

The corrugated fence is ready. As you can see, it’s nothing complicated, it’s a completely feasible task for everyone. Provided that all points are met, the next fence will need to be built only in 20-30 years.

Installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets: video

In order to fence off a suburban area or a house within the city, a fence made of corrugated sheets is a popular option: a wide selection of material colors, speed of construction, reliability, and durability of such a structure are the main reasons why owners prefer it.

A fence made from corrugated sheets with your own hands is easy to install even for a person without special construction skills, but it is still necessary to gain certain knowledge about the material and the features of working with it.

A fence made from corrugated sheets can have a beautiful and presentable appearance. The possibility of using sheets with different colors of protective coating made of polymers, a variety of architectural forms of fencing, allows you to make a fence made of corrugated sheets a real decoration of the site.

Fence made of corrugated sheets

In addition to fences constructed entirely from metal sheets, the material can be used as inserts in brick, concrete, wood and metal structures. Fences made of corrugated sheets decorated with forged inserts look especially organic and beautiful.

Features of choosing material for fencing

Profiled sheets are available in several versions: wall, load-bearing and roofing. For fencing, it is recommended to use a wall sheet with a thickness of 0.3 to 0.7 mm. The corrugated sheet of the wave structure has sufficient strength and is able to withstand large wind and mechanical loads and impacts, which allows the construction of buildings of sufficiently high height from it.

Corrugated sheet C-8x1150 for the construction of walls and partitions

Often, fences made of corrugated sheets reach 2.5-3 meters or more; when choosing a material, it is necessary to take into account wind loads in a particular area and, if you plan to build a tall structure, then the sheet must have a greater metal thickness.

Wave height: to build a fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands, it is recommended to choose material marked from C8 to C21. The letter designation indicates the type of sheet - wall, and the digital designation indicates the wave height.

Profiled sheeting C21 for fences, walls and pitched roofs

The length of the corrugated sheet can be from 1.5 to 3 m, the production of this product is carried out from rolled steel and sheets of any size can be made to order. The width of the sheets has limitations and varies from 980 to 1850 mm; the higher the wave, the narrower the sheet; when calculating, you will have to take into account the necessary overlap, which reduces the useful width by 30-100 mm.

Advantages of a fence made of corrugated sheets

  • durability, service life exceeds 20 years, but can reach 50 years; galvanized metal with a polymer colored coating is used for production.;
  • all construction work is carried out without the use of special equipment;
  • the construction of the fence takes place in the shortest possible time;
  • during operation, no special care or painting is required; it is enough to periodically clean it from dirt and dust with water from a watering hose;
  • such a fence provides reliable protection from the outside world, including street noise and dust.

Cost of profiled sheet

The cost of corrugated sheets starts from 200 rubles per square meter; you should not purchase the cheapest option (its service life will be minimal): it must be taken into account that this structure should last several decades.

Site marking and start of construction

Before you start building a fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands, you will need to complete the required amount of work on the site. The territory is marked, which is recommended to start from the entrance group (gates and wickets). Places for installing posts are designated, to which the enclosing structure will subsequently be attached. The length of the spans with which we build a fence from corrugated sheets should be from 2-2.5 to 3 m; we must take into account the height and windage of the future structure and make adjustments depending on these parameters.

Scheme of a fence made of corrugated sheets

Marking is best done using wooden pegs, a measuring ruler or tape measure and a cord. The stakes are installed in the corners of the area and a cord is stretched between them. The remaining points are marked along the cord at an equal distance from each other.

Fence diagram and site marking

The site for future construction must be cleared of various types of debris and leveled; if the site has differences in height, take into account its lowering and the installation of columns must be done deeper by this amount - this will ultimately allow you to get a structure whose upper level is at the same height. You can build a fence from corrugated sheets in a cascade - in this case, adjacent sections are located at different levels, but the height of the fence is the same throughout.

Materials for fencing, calculations

Knowing the height, length, and width of the fence on the site, you need to calculate the number of required sheets. Please note that 3-10 cm from each sheet of sheet will be used for overlap.

Calculation of materials for a fence made of corrugated sheets

The construction of the posts is a metal square pipe 40×60 or 60×60 mm and with a wall thickness of 1-3 mm. You will need 80x80 pipes for the goalposts and/or wicket. Their length is calculated from the height of the fence plus 0.8-1.5 m for the foundation. The last parameter is determined taking into account the characteristics of the soil on the site: loose soil requires a deeper foundation than, for example, clay soil.

Installation of fence posts made of corrugated sheets

The installation of fences made of corrugated sheets is carried out on horizontal crossbars; it is necessary to prepare the material for them as well. You can purchase the same pipes as for posts or smaller sizes 20×20, 20×40 mm with a metal thickness of up to 2.5 mm. On average, two units are required per section; if the fence exceeds 2.5-3 meters, then it is recommended to install an additional one - a medium one.

Fence pipes made of corrugated sheets

You will need fasteners for sheets - special roofing screws with a rubber gasket measuring 5.5 × 20 mm and at the rate of 14 units per 1 m2.

Materials for foundation construction

To construct a foundation for metal columns, you will need gravel or crushed stone for a cushion, as well as cement and sand for making mortar.

In addition to installing metal pipes, you can also use wooden beams, asbestos-cement pipes, and make brick columns. To make a fence made of corrugated sheets more solid, another technique is used: first, a post made of a metal pipe is installed, and then it is lined with decorative facing bricks.

Installation of a fence foundation made of corrugated sheets

We choose the type of fence: at ground level or above level. The second option may have an additional element - a low base, cladding or brickwork. This method is more time-consuming and financially expensive, but has undeniable advantages. The base creates protection for the lower part of the fence, contributing to its durability, and leaves no gap for stray or wild animals to enter the area, which can easily get through if the sheets are simply raised above the ground by 10-20 cm.

Tool for the job

To build a fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands, you will need to stock up on the necessary tools to complete the work.

To mark the site and excavation work you will need:

  • a hand drill or shovel for preparing wells for posts and developing a trench;
  • cord or rope;
  • measuring ruler or tape measure;
  • building level;
  • sheet materials for formwork.
  • To attach the corrugated sheet to the fence, you will need roofing screws with rubber gaskets or rivets. You will need a screwdriver and a special device for installing rivets. To install the logs, you may need a welding machine; you can make a fence from corrugated sheets without welding - using a drill you need to prepare the holes and make the connection with screws.

    Foundation for pillars

    Foundation for pillars

    Columns are installed for the foundation, and for fences with a plinth, a strip base is recommended. You can combine two types of foundation: for supports - columnar, and for the base - strip.

    To install the posts, you need to drill small holes using a hand auger or dig with a shovel. The depth can vary from 80 cm on heavy dense soils and up to 1.5 m on loose or loose soils. It is recommended to make waterproofing from roofing felt at the bottom of the pit; this is especially necessary if the groundwater level is high. We need to make a gravel bed and install posts.

    Checking the level of the columns among themselves, adjusting their height by placing stones, gravel and other materials. First, sand is poured and filled with water, compacted, after which concreting with cement-sand mortar is required. This method of constructing a foundation provides stability to the columns and reduces their susceptibility to heaving forces during soil thawing.

    In the case of constructing a base for the construction of a fence made of corrugated sheets on loose and loose soils, it is necessary to make formwork, for which you can use boards, sheets of plywood and other available materials.

    Installation of posts

    Metal poles are installed in the corners of the site and elements of the future gates are mounted. A rope thread is stretched to create a level, and the remaining intermediate posts are installed in pre-prepared holes. They should go approximately 1/3 of the height into the ground.

    When installing posts, you need to use a plumb line to prevent them from falling over, and a building level; check the height of the posts.

    To protect yourself from stray animals entering the area, you can make a concrete side with a small (no more than 20 cm) recess. A small trench is prepared between adjacent pillars and once the formwork is made and installed, concrete is poured. In this case, before installing a fence made of corrugated sheets, no time is required for the concrete to gain strength; the element being erected is not load-bearing - its hardening is sufficient.

    Strip foundation

    A trench with a width of at least 20 cm is prepared along the perimeter of the future fence. The depth is determined by the characteristics of the soil and the choice of material for the manufacture of posts and the base part. If you plan to pour a monolithic concrete strip with subsequent cladding with decorative materials, then a fence made of corrugated sheets can be placed on a shallow foundation. On average, the laying level can vary from 0.4 to 1.5 m, depending on the weight of the structure and the geological conditions of the site.

    When the trench is ready, it is necessary to install a sand and gravel cushion; if the groundwater level is high, waterproofing will be required. A layer of roofing material or geotextile fabric is laid.

    We install the formwork and frame. Reinforcement with a thickness of 12-16 mm is used. We pour concrete.

    Covering metal pillars with brickwork or stone.

    Laying brick pillars

    A simple but effective way is brickwork or stone cladding. Along with the installation of metal pillars, formwork is prepared for the foundation of the masonry.

    If you plan to use facing stone, then the formwork should be installed up to the top of the columns.

    Rules for installing a log fence made of corrugated sheets

    Usually erected fences do not exceed 2-2.5 meters. For such structures, it is enough to install two crossbars, but if the fence is planned to be made higher and from heavier material, then the installation of a third and sometimes a fourth element may be required.

    The lower and upper crossbars are installed approximately at a height of 20-30 cm from the ground and, accordingly, from the upper edge. If the height of the fence is 2 m, the distance between the logs will be about 1.5 m, with 2.5 m - slightly less than 2 m, which is quite enough for the structure to be able to withstand any mechanical and wind loads.

    The logs must be positioned strictly perpendicular to the pillars and parallel to each other. Immediately after attaching the crossbars, they must be treated with primers and applied with paint intended for exterior metal work.

    Fastening the logs using a welding machine and bolted connections

    Fastening is carried out using a welding machine, welding the log to a metal post. Welding areas must be primed and painted with anti-corrosion compounds. If a fence is installed without welding, the logs should be secured with bolts. Using a drill and a metal drill of the appropriate size, holes are prepared in the post and crossbars, and then tightened with bolts and nuts.

    This method is in no way inferior in reliability and strength to the welding method.

    It is necessary to treat the joints, since the exposed metal will begin to corrode under the influence of adverse weather conditions.

    Attaching sheets to joists. Particular attention should be paid to installing the first sheet; it must be secured perfectly evenly. Each subsequent profiled sheet is attached with an overlap on the previous one. After installing each subsequent element, it is recommended to check their installation accuracy and, if necessary, adjust the fastening by adding additional washers.

    To fasten profiled sheets, special roofing screws with a rubber gasket are used. The sheets should be fastened at the bottom of the wave, at a distance of 20-30 cm from each other. It is better to choose screw caps that match the color of the sheet covering. It is also possible to fasten sheets using rivets; you will need a special device for their installation (riveter).

    Protection of metal from corrosion, safety precautions

    You can make a profiled sheet yourself using metal scissors: the material is thin and easy to cut. All cutting areas will need to be protected: painted or special covers installed. It is recommended to cover metal posts with inserts or other decorative elements.

    Special construction gloves will protect your fingers from cuts; be careful, the edges of the cut corrugated sheet are very sharp.

How to properly build a fence from corrugated sheets - step-by-step instructions

A fence around a country house and site is necessary not only to protect the property, but is also an excellent way to add attractiveness to your territory.

Corrugated sheeting is ideal for constructing a fence. This material has properties such as high strength, beautiful appearance, long service life, a huge selection of colors and low cost.

A fence made of corrugated sheets is easy to build by the owner himself. How to do this will be discussed in this article.

Selecting material for fencing

Before you begin the construction process, you need to prepare all the necessary material:

  • Support pillars. For these purposes, it is recommended to use a square metal profile measuring 60x60 mm. Round pipes are also suitable, but it is important that their wall thickness is at least 2 mm. Wooden supports are acceptable, but they are less reliable and require special processing.
    Support pillars are placed at a distance of 2-3 meters from each other. Their height is calculated from the height of the corrugated sheeting plus one meter, which will be spent digging into the ground.
  • Crossbars. For crossbars, you can use a metal profile with a size of 40x20 mm, the required wall thickness is 2 mm. If the supports are made of wood, then the crossbars must be made of wood. The length of one crossbar is equal to the length of one span between the supports. They are docked in the center of the support.
    If the crossbars are longer than the span, they will have to be trimmed. On the contrary, small crossbars will need to be joined in the middle of the span, which contributes to a significant weakening of the entire structure. If the fence is less than 2 meters high, then two crossbars must be installed. Otherwise, three are mounted. But for an ordinary summer cottage it is still recommended to erect a fence about 1.8 meters high.
  • Corrugated sheet. There is a special type of corrugated sheeting that is made for the construction of fences. The thickness of the profiled galvanized sheet should be at least 0.5 mm, the wave height should be about 20 mm. Such characteristics guarantee the strength of the fence - gusts of wind will not bend the profiled sheet. Thinner material can also be installed, but in this case additional rigidity must be created through additional crossbars.
  • Holder plates. Necessary for assembling structures without welding. These plates are required to secure the crossbars to the support posts using bolts.
  • Pillar plugs. Required to protect support pillars from water entering them. The caps will also make the fence look more attractive.
  • End U-shaped strip. Installed as desired. It is intended for edging the upper edge of a fence made of corrugated board. It makes the fence look more complete. However, if you need to save money, you don’t have to purchase the bar.
  • Bolts. Necessary for attaching to crossbar supports.
  • Roofing screws. Required for fastening corrugated sheets. They are available in various colors, so they can be matched to the color of the corrugated sheet. The use of such self-tapping screws does not require drilling holes; they fit perfectly into the metal.
  • Cement, sand and crushed stone for concreting support pillars.

Preparing tools and calculating the fence

When erecting a fence from corrugated sheets, you should prepare the following tools:

  • tape measure and level;
  • garden auger;
  • a hacksaw or jigsaw - for cutting corrugated sheets if necessary;
  • screwdriver for screwing in self-tapping screws.

Fence marking

Before starting work, you need to make the necessary measurements to calculate the length of the fence. Correct measurement is a guarantee of correct calculation of the required building materials.

It is necessary to drive pegs along the entire perimeter of the territory. If the fence has kinks, then the pegs must be installed at the turning point. Next, a nylon thread is pulled onto the pegs, at a height of approximately 20 cm from the ground. It is important that it does not sag. Then the total length of the thread is measured with a tape measure, which will be the same as the length of the future fence.

When calculating the material, it is necessary to take into account that the corrugated sheets are installed with an overlap on each other in one wave.

Carrying out installation work

First stage – installation of support pillars. First you need to install all the supports in the corners and in the places where the fence turns, then intermediate posts are placed. The frame of the future wicket and gate is done last.

The holes for the supports should have a depth of about 80 cm. The support must be driven another 20 cm into the ground. Therefore, the total depression is about one meter. The diameter of the hole is about 30 cm. To carry out this work, it is better to use a garden auger.

The supports are placed strictly vertically, using a level. Next, they need to be filled with concrete, the total hardening time of which is three days.

Installation of crossbars

The top crossbar is installed at a distance of 20-30 cm from the top edge. Bottom - 20-30 cm from the bottom edge of the fence. If there are three crossbars in the structure, then the third is attached in the center.

The crossbars are joined to each other on a support post or secured with bolts and special plates.

Fastening corrugated sheets

It is important to correctly install the first sheet of corrugated sheeting. The remaining sheets will be attached to its level. The material is screwed with four self-tapping screws to the crossbars at the point where the waves meet.

Self-tapping screws are screwed in through two waves. A more sparse fastening will make the structure fragile, it will knock in strong winds. To ensure an even position of the screws, it is recommended to stretch a nylon cord as a level.

It is important to be careful at this stage. A big risk is damage to the polymer coating of the corrugated sheet. If this happens, the scratch must be painted over immediately to prevent the formation of corrosion.

Nuances with a fence height of more than 2 meters

If a fence is erected with a height of more than two meters, the following features must be taken into account:

  • for supports, a pipe with a cross section of 80x60 or 80x80 mm is used;
  • the corrugated sheet is attached to only three crossbars;
  • the depth of the pits for the supports is 1.5 meters;
  • The profile needs to be secured only with self-tapping screws.

Thus, building a fence from corrugated sheets yourself is not at all difficult. If a choice is made on this material, then the owner of a summer cottage will be able to evaluate the durability, reliability and aesthetic appearance of such a fence.

The video below shows how best to make a fence from corrugated sheets yourself:

Many materials of varying strength levels are used as materials for the manufacture of a fence for a private home or country house. These are concrete slabs, wooden and metal picket fences, composite material, corrugated sheets, solid boards. Corrugated sheeting is one of the lightest materials in terms of weight. A fence made of corrugated sheets is good for many people - its advantages are simple installation, affordable price, durability, strength.

Fence and gates made of blue corrugated sheets

Almost anyone can build a fence from corrugated sheets with their own hands. Installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets can be done either with an assistant or by yourself. The weight of the material allows this. The durability of the finished structure will be in no way inferior to the service life of a heavy concrete fence, and much less money will be spent on its construction.

Material for making a fence from corrugated sheets

To make an aesthetic and durable fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands at home or in the country, you need to prepare the following building materials in advance:

  • Profiled sheeting. It is wide and light in weight, like wood, so it is easy to work with. For vertical installation of a fence up to 2.5 m high, any type of sheet is suitable. If you plan to create an impregnable fortress around the house, then the height of the fence can be made larger. To do this, you need to use the grade of corrugated sheet C20 or even C21. These brands have greater rigidity. You also need to choose a polymer coating on the sheets.

Profiled sheets of different types and colors
  • Support pillars. Conventional round pipes can be used in this capacity, but their analogues with a square or rectangular cross-section look preferable. Dimensions: 50 x 50, 40 x 60, 60 x 60 mm. The metal thickness should be 2-3 mm. Pipes with a cross section of 80 x 80 mm are used as supports for house gates.

Square profile pipe - affordable and practical material
  • Cross beams. They are necessary when installing any type of fence, both from picket fences and from corrugated sheets. Moreover, if a picket fence requires only wooden beams, then a structure made of corrugated sheets also allows the use of metal pipes. The pipes must have a cross-section of 20 x 40 mm. If wooden logs are used, then their cross-section is taken to be 50 x 50 mm.
  • Fastening elements. Sheathing made of corrugated sheets is attached using special roofing screws. These screws are supplied with metal washers with rubber gaskets. Their design allows you to protect the fastening points from moisture. During installation, the washer fits tightly with its rubber side to the corrugated sheet.

Installation of a fence with corrugated sheets

Construction of a light and durable fence for a private home will be impossible without preliminary calculations and marking of the site. To make a fence from corrugated sheets correctly, you need to prepare well

Preparatory work

When all the building materials have been prepared at home or at the dacha, they begin to mark the site. Pegs are driven into the corners of the future fence. A marking cord is stretched between the pegs. Intermediate pegs are installed along the cord. They indicate the locations of the support pillars. The distance between adjacent pillars should be about 2.5-3 m. Spans of more than 3 m will be exposed to wind due to increased windage. Installation of supports can be done in several ways, listed below.

The supports can be metal, in the form of ordinary round ones, or they can be stone or brick columns. Such combined fences made of corrugated sheets look very presentable and reliable, but require additional financial investments and additional efforts. Combined fences are excellent protection for a private home, but at the dacha it is better to make a simpler fence.

If the fence is built on, then they can be built up with pipes to the desired height or covered with bricks.

Installation of support pillars

The construction of supports for fences can be carried out in three ways:

  • On a strip foundation. A trench with a depth of at least 70 cm is dug along the perimeter of the site, which is filled with concrete mortar. First, support pillars are placed in the trench. Pouring is done after all the pillars are aligned in height.

  • On separate supports. Deep holes are dug every 2.5-3 m into which supports are installed. After agreeing on the height of the supports, the pits are filled with stones or broken bricks, and then compacted. From above, 30-40 cm, the pits are filled with concrete mortar.

  • . This installation method is the least labor-intensive and does not require excavation work. To make fences from corrugated sheets on screw piles, you need to have drilling equipment and a set of piles. The supports are simply screwed into the ground to a certain depth. They can be extended with pipes or cut. Houses on screw piles have existed for many decades, so you don’t have to worry about the integrity of the fence.

Installation of crossbars

Fences made of corrugated sheets require the presence of transverse beams in their design, to which the sheathing will be attached. The distance between the logs must be maintained at about 1.5 m. At the same time, gaps from the top and bottom of the sheets should be at least 5 cm.

Pipe crossbars are used almost always when it is necessary to build a fence on buried pipes or on screw piles. You can also attach a metal picket fence to them, the advantages of which over wooden ones are obvious. The structure of the frame is quite simple. The cross beams are fastened by welding either between the supports or along their front part. In the second case, savings in materials and time are achieved.

If you have to make a fence from wooden crossbars, then their installation on poles or screw piles is carried out using welded metal plates. The design of such fastenings is simple. Holes are drilled in them through which the beams are attached to the pillars using bolts.

The design of the log may have another device. This is a combined method of attaching crossbars made of any material without the use of a welding machine. A mount is mounted on support pillars or screw piles into which the logs are inserted. The logs are fixed with self-tapping screws.

Installation of corrugated sheets on a fence frame

When starting the construction of a fence made of corrugated board, or indeed any fence made of picket fence or other material, you need to be careful that the material does not reach the ground by at least 5 cm. This will prevent its damage. And if the picket fence is simply not brought to the ground, then the corrugated sheeting can be attached both in a suspended state and installed on any support. A border made of brick, stone, or concrete is perfect for support. This adds aesthetics to the appearance of the fence. Such a support is especially impressive if we are building a combined fence, where the supports are made of brick or stone. In this case, it is recommended to immediately use a strip foundation.

Installation of sheets begins from the gate or wicket. Each sheet is positioned strictly horizontally, after which it is attached to the joists with roofing screws. The fastening step is through one wave. That is, it is necessary to make two rows of fastenings - along the lower and upper joists. The overlap of each subsequent sheet should be one wave. The last sheet often has to be cut to give it the desired width. Use a grinder for this.

When installing metal sheets, the work should be done with gloves, since the edges of the metal are very dangerous.

When the installation of the corrugated fence is almost complete, you need to make plugs for the pipes to protect them from corrosion. All metal parts of the fence must be primed and then painted with high-quality paint.

We have disassembled the structure of a fence made of corrugated sheets, which can be used to fence and decorate the area around a private house or in a country house. If the installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets is carried out according to all the rules, such a fence on a strip foundation, pillars or screw piles will serve you for more than a hundred years. During this time, the wooden picket fence will need to be replaced at least 2 times.
