What do laminate grades mean

Laminate classes mean the resistance of its outer layer to mechanical abrasion of the surface and other adverse effects. One or another class is assigned according to the results of comprehensive tests for resistance to impact loads, moisture, abrasion, and so on.

The so-called taber test is mandatory, during which a rotating disk with an abrasive coating is brought into contact with the test sample. Depending on the number of revolutions required for the initial damage to the outer layer and the subsequent loss of the operational properties of the product, the wear resistance class is determined.

It is marked with two numbers, the first of which characterizes the public (3) or residential (2) type of premises, the second, increasing from one to three, indicates the resistance of the coating to mechanical abrasion. There are currently six product classes.

Class 33 coating is able to withstand peak loads, it is used to equip the floors of sports fields and concert halls. Class 32 withstands shock loads well, it is used in offices and shops, in domestic use it is great for the hallway and kitchen. The "Click" lock system configuration has a more complex three-dimensional tongue and groove shape. One of the connected panels is laid on the floor, the other is inserted into the groove at a certain angle with a spike, turned in the downward direction with a “click” sound (hence the name of the lock) and is installed in its place.

The advantage of such a system is that the installation can be carried out without the use of tools. In addition, if necessary, it is possible to replace individual elements that have become unusable.

The surface is formed even, without gaps between the panels, well resists the effects of high humidity. Thus, the design of the lock also determines which laminate to choose.

It can imitate the texture of any type of wood or leather with a high degree of certainty.
