I live in a new nine-storeyed block of flats in Pushkin Street. In front of the house there is a children’s playground and a small garden. We like to spend our time there.
Our flat is on the fourth floor. It is very comfortable. We have all modern conveniences such as central heating, electricity, gas, cold and hot running water and a telephone. There are three rooms in our flat: a living- room and two bedrooms.
Our living-room is the largest in the flat. It is nicely furnished. Opposite the wall you can see a nice cupboard. There is a colour TV-set in the corner. In another corner there is a sofa and two armchairs. The piano is on the right. There are two pictures above the piano. There is a bookcase next to it. We are fond of books and have plenty of them at home. On the floor we have a nice thick carpet. The curtains on the window match the wallpaper. All this makes the room cosy.
Our bedrooms are also very nice and cosy. The parents’ bedroom is larger than the children’s. There is a big bed, a bedside table, some chairs and a wardrobe in it. There is a lovely carpet on the floor.
The children’s bedroom is just across the corridor on the right. Here you can see two sofa-beds where my sister and I sleep at night and have a rest in the day-time. There is also a writing-table, two chairs and some bookshelves here. We use our bedroom as a study where we do our homework. In the corner of the room there is a small table with a computer on it.
Our kitchen is rather large. There is a gas-stove, a refrigerator and a cupboard in which we keep cups, plates and all our dishes. The kitchen serves us as a diningroom. But when we receive guests or have our family celebrations we have the meals in the living-room. We are happy to have such a nice flat and try to keep it clean.

Над фортепиано- две картины. Рядом с ним- книжный шкаф. Мы любим книги и имеем их много у себя дома. На полу у нас - хороший толстый ковер. Шторы на окне подходят к обоям. Все это делает комнату уютной.
Наши спальни тоже очень красивые и уютные. Спальня родителей больше, чем детская. Там есть большая кровать, туалетный столик, несколько стульев, шкаф для одежды. На полу - прекрасный ковер.
Детская спальня - по коридору направо. Здесь вы можете увидеть два дивана-кровати, где моя сестра и я спим ночью, и отдыхаем в дневное время. Есть также письменный стол, два стула и несколько книжных полок. Мы используем нашу спальню, как кабитет, в котором делаем наши домашние задания. В углу комнаты есть небольшой стол, с компьютером на нем.
Наша кухня довольно велика. Здесь есть газовая плита, холодильник, шкаф, в котором мы держим чашки, тарелки и все наши блюда. Кухня служит нам и столовой. Но когда мы принимаем гостей или празднуем наши семейные торжества, мы едим в гостиной. Мы рады иметь такую славную квартиру и пытаемся сохранить её в чистоте.

Спальни
В квартире также есть две спальни: одна из них моих родителей, а другая – моя. Я использую эту комнату как спальню и кабинет. Я бы хотел сказать несколько слов об этой комнате, потому что она мне бесконечно нравится. Она не очень большая, но чрезвычайно удобная. В ней есть окно с занавесками и стол, стоящий у окна. На столе ноутбук и подставка для ручек и карандашей. На полу рядом со столом стоит большая книжная полка. В комнате также есть кровать и платяной шкаф, где я храню свою одежду и обувь. На стенах висят несколько фотографий и постеров. На полу лежит мягкий ковер, а с потолка свисает люстра. Я всегда заправляю постель и стараюсь содержать комнату в чистоте, потому что ко мне часто заходят в гости друзья.
Гостиная
Последней, но не менее важной комнатой в нашей квартире является гостиная, где вся семья собирается вместе после работы или учебы. Здесь мы обсуждаем и решаем повседневные проблемы, рассказываем друг другу, что случилось за день.

My flat
Building
I live in a modern block of flats in a residential part of the city. It’s a 12-storey building located away from the main road with a children’s playground, some benches to sit on and a small pond on its premises. I like the place, because it’s got a lot of greenery, which is not characteristic of big cities.
My flat
My flat is on the top floor, so I usually take a lift up and down. When you open the door and enter the flat you get into the hall. It’s quite spacious with lots of light coming from the kitchen window. There’s a massive wooden coat hanger in the corner and a large mirror on the wall.
The kitchen
Regarding the kitchen itself, it’s roomy and fully-equipped. There’s a dinner table with some chairs in the middle. There’s a fridge and a freezer, a washing machine and other kitchen gadgets and facilities. From the kitchen you can go onto the balcony, which is also quite spacious and green due to lots of flowerpots with various plants in them.
Bedrooms
There are also two bedrooms in my flat – one is my parents’ room and the other belongs to me. I use it as a bedroom and a study. I’d like to say a few words about this room which I like immensely. It’s not very big, but extremely cosy. There’s a window with some curtains hanging over it and a desk near the window. There’s a laptop and a desk tidy on the desk and a bookshelf next to it. There’s also a bed and a wardrobe where I keep my clothes and shoes. There’re some pictures and posters on the walls. There’s a soft carpet on the floor and a set of lights on the ceiling. I always make my bed and try to keep my room clean and tidy because of my friends often coming over.
The living-room
And the last but not the least is the living-room where my family gets together when it’s home time. Here we discuss and trouble-shoot problems in daily living, talk about our family members’ activities and life experience.

I like to watch TV in the living-room and to play or talk with my parents in the evening there.
Our kitchen is small, but it is nice. There is a cooker there, a refrigerator, a table and four chairs. We have meals in the kitchen and my mother cooks tasty things there.
Our bathroom is clean and nice. We wash hands and face, clean teeth in the bathroom. There is a bath and a sink with hot and cold water taps there.
I like to be at home, to play, to read books. There are a lot of books in our flat. I help my parents about the house and our flat is always clean and nice. I think, there is no place like home.
