The history of the Novosibirsk State Medical University begins with the opening of the Institute for Advanced Medical Studies in Novosibirsk with the involvement of the teaching staff of the Tomsk Medical Institute. In 1935, a permanent teaching staff was formed in Novosibirsk, which made it possible to open the Novosibirsk Medical Institute. The history of our university dates back to 1935, when a medical institute was established in the city of Novosibirsk by the Decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR. At the time of its creation, the institute was represented by a team of 17 employees (four professors, one associate professor and 12 assistants) and 127 students.

Currently, our university is a modern scientific and educational complex with a developed infrastructure: educational and laboratory buildings and clinical bases, an interregional simulation and certification center, libraries, dormitories, sports facilities, a printing house, a video studio, etc. Our university employs more than 1,600 employees and teachers and more than 5,500 full-time, part-time (evening) and part-time students.

Our students study in educational programs of higher and secondary vocational education. After graduating from the university, each graduate has great opportunities to continue his education: residency, postgraduate studies, and for practicing doctors - primary specialization and advanced training.
