Lamps for the steam room. What lamps should I choose for a steam bath? LED waterproof lamp for sauna

Choosing a lamp for the steam room

In order to correctly choose and buy a waterproof lamp for a bath, we invite you to familiarize yourself with our specially prepared material. In this article, using the word bathhouse, we will have in mind a certain collective image bath-sauna-hamam and dwell on their differences when necessary.

It is well known that the LEDs that are so popular today require a high-quality heat sink, so the use of conventional LED lamps in a steam room is impossible. The Center for New Technologies of CNT-Group offers special models, both LED and for light bulbs, with a sealed housing that can withstand temperatures up to 110°.

However, even such LED lamps have their own endurance limit, so if you buy lighting for a public bath or any daily used, where lighting fixtures are exposed to heat every day for 8-10 hours a day, then the only option for you is a lamp made of ceramics or heat-resistant plastic with a shade and an E27 base for a regular incandescent lamp or a similar halogen lamp. We have such lamps in our assortment and we will talk about them further.

If the purchase is intended For private bath or saunas, then any of our products will suit you perfectly. However, it must be remembered that lighting fixtures should not be placed near the stove. Streams of excessively hot air will quickly render them unusable.

Why doesn’t it make sense to spend a lot of money on buying lamps for the steam room? The answer is simple and it is based on the very specifics of such lighting - in a steam room or sauna, the light should exist exclusively in the background! The lamp should not be key element interior design and light should not hit your eyes, no matter where you are and no matter how you turn. It should shine as unobtrusively as possible, because you are completely immersed in hot air bath and all your thoughts and sensations are occupied only with this process.

Let's do a simple experiment. Can you remember at least one lamp that you have ever seen in a steam room? I guess the answer is no. Do you remember the chandelier in the theater you visited? Most likely yes. And that's right! Because everything has its place and its priorities. The price of an LED waterproof bath lamp should always be reasonable. In which part there should be beautiful and, perhaps, memorable lamps, you will read further. After you have built a bathhouse on the site, fill it with light.

Features of lighting in baths and saunas

The bathhouse should be divided into four zones: three internal and one external. These will be a steam area, a shower room, a relaxation room and external lighting for the bathhouse. It is necessary to select lamps based on the characteristics of each of them. A separate approach to choosing lighting in a bathhouse will give the best results both in terms of comfort and convenience, and in terms of your safety.

The lighting features of baths and saunas completely depend on the features of the places in which the lamps will be located. So...

Let's consider the temperature and humidity regimes in various types baths and saunas.

Russian bath. For comfortable conditions steaming, the air temperature in a Russian bath should be about 70-80 degrees Celsius. At a humidity level of 70%, the temperature should not exceed 90°, but at a humidity of 30%, the heating of air masses can reach 110°. These are difficult conditions not only for humans, but the lamp must also be prepared for this mode of exposure.

Finnish sauna. The conditions in the sauna are characterized by low air humidity and high temperature. Use a heat-resistant light in the sauna. We will not dwell on who tolerates what conditions better, but we note that in a sauna, temperatures from 80 to 110 degrees have a significantly longer effect on the room and its elements than in a bathhouse. Air humidity will fluctuate between 10-20%.

Hammam or Turkish bath . Hamam is fundamentally different from a Russian bath in both temperature and humidity conditions. In the hammam there will be no heat above 50° with humidity reaching almost 100% in the form of thick steam. Such conditions can be considered as comfortable as possible for a person. And not only for humans, for lamps too, because ensuring moisture protection in modern lighting products is not at all difficult, and the temperature regime here turns out to be quite standard.

Buy a lamp for a bath with delivery in Moscow

Maximum load on a bath lamp from exposure external environment- this is a steam room. Not every light source can withstand high temperatures while maintaining all its properties. The degree of protection against moisture penetration must also be at the proper level; waterproof lamps for baths and saunas have an index of at least IP54. You can buy a lamp for the bathhouse in our online store.

For a steam room, the best light will be the light scattered by a special lampshade, or reflected. Wooden wall decoration will always help make the light of any lamp as natural and pleasing to the eye as possible. We have models of corner lamps for saunas and wall lamps for steam rooms. Based on what was said earlier, the most suitable lamps for the steam zone there will be the following options:

=> Special LED lamp IP54 or IP65, withstands temperatures up to +100°.

=> An incandescent lamp with a power of no more than 60 W or, better, a similar halogen lamp with a regular base, placed in a special lamp with a matte shade.

=> Combined option of the two above, which, on the one hand, will allow you to add variety to the light scenario and achieve interchangeability, and on the other hand, if you want to reach the maximum temperature, it will make it possible to switch from LED lamps to halogen ones in order to save the resource of the former. You will need a two-key switch.

Note. It is impossible to use incandescent or halogen lamps with a power exceeding 60 watts due to their strong heating. Such lamps also cannot be used without a protective shade, so as not to break, and if the lamp breaks, to avoid injury.

If after purchasing a lamp for the sauna you want hide it behind a decorative wooden lattice, then you can make it yourself according to your own preliminary sketch, order it from a carpenter or buy it at the construction market or in the appropriate store. Buying an LED lamp for a steam room often means there is no need for additional accessories.

Shower area different high humidity. It is not difficult for modern lamps to protect themselves from this type of external influence. Once the selected lamp meets the waterproof parameter, all you have to do is decide on its design.

The shower room is the only place in the bath where, most likely, you should definitely use cool white light with fairly good illumination, for which it is also possible to use a two-key switch. White light along with running water will allow you to tone up faster, and also see yourself in the most appropriate lighting, admire the healthy blush and straighten your hair.

The main choice here will also most likely not be LED lighting. And the most important thing before buying a bath lamp is the correct and thoughtful location lighting fixtures.

The main requirements for lamps for steam rooms in baths and saunas are functionality and quality. But in the relaxation room and in the external lighting of the bath building itself, you can fully give free rein to your fantasies. We definitely believe that lamps are excellent accessories for baths and saunas.

Recreation area is the place complete comfort. Your overall impression of visiting the bathhouse largely depends on how you feel during your vacation. Therefore, with the arrangement of the rest room, everything is a little more complicated. And we are talking not only about the location of the bar with soft drinks, although you also need to take care of its lighting.

In this room, light of different intensities, consisting of at least two lighting modes, can be very useful. When you just want to relax after a juniper or birch broom, it is advisable to turn on dim, diffused light, and if you want to read a book or chat with friends, the lighting should be brighter.

Given the fact that the rest room does not have critical modes, the choice of lighting fixtures can be based solely on your taste. However, compliance with basic safety requirements when placing lighting equipment is mandatory.

Due to the fact that most often the bathhouse is visited in the evening, it is very important to complement the surroundings with the right outdoor lighting. Lighting the canopy above the entrance, the entrance to the bathhouse itself, as well as wall elements is not only an excellent design, style and atmospheric solution, but also an important element of safety and ease of movement. The choice of lamps for outdoor lighting of a house depends on the material from which it is built, the location of windows, height and other structural elements.

With the help of special lamps with an affordable price, installed from below and directed along the walls at a certain angle, you can highlight and emphasize very beautifully individual elements facade. Flood lighting can also be arranged with the appropriate selection of lighting fixtures and based on the canons architectural design. And if to yours separately standing bathhouse There are paved paths and it is possible to supply electricity, then it would be right to illuminate this path.

The owner of a real Russian bathhouse may wonder: does everything in it need to be done with a reserve of thermal strength, like for a sauna? After all, in principle, it would be possible to save money if we take into account exclusively the traditional Russian bath conditions...

Russian bathhouse: how does its condition affect the lamps?

But before we deal with the issue of saving, let's just go through the main characteristics of our national bath regime and see what requirements they put forward for lamps for a steam room.

An increase in air temperature automatically increases a person's sweating. This is an ancient mechanism of self-cooling of the body, which requires that the released moisture evaporate, taking with it excess thermal energy. But In order for water to evaporate, the air must be dry enough. The more water vapor is already in the air, the more difficult it is for water to evaporate from the skin (the air, as it were, is already clogged with other water molecules).

If water from an overheated human body cannot evaporate, the body begins to suffer from heatstroke. The cardiovascular system is primarily affected.

So here it is. Russian bathhouse does not overheat a person, because the entire bath procedure is based on excess water vapor. Enough 40-60 degrees to steam using light, that is, finely dispersed steam. We wrote a lot about this when we talked about stoves, if you’re interested, read it.

Steam in a Russian bath comes from stones heated to several hundred degrees, so starting steam temperature is above one hundred degrees. It rises to the ceiling, where it forms a cloud, a steam cake. There the temperature will be higher, but still not as high as in the sauna.

The characteristic excess steam is quantified as 50-55% humidity.

It is clear that in such conditions, electrical equipment is more vulnerable to moisture than to high temperature– 40-60 degrees are not critical for wire insulation designed, say, 70 degrees, but increased humidity places higher demands on the moisture protection of electrical appliances, including lamps.

IMPORTANT! Yes, in fact, in a steam room, all electricity should be limited exclusively to lamps, and switches, sockets, transformers, power supplies and wiring should be located exclusively outside!

In practice, moisture protection of lamps comes down to ensuring they tightness. For this purpose they are used gaskets between the lampshade and the base.

ADVICE! Considered to be the best in terms of service life silicone gasket.

As for the influence of temperature, it can be reduced if the lighting is not on the ceiling, but on the walls, and preferably below the level of the steam cake, although this applies primarily to LED lamps or strips.

Types of designs

Wide variety of designs in in this case there is no need to expect. This is due operating conditions. Read more about bath lighting, with an analysis of all the components.

All models that you find (or try to make yourself) will consist of a durable, moisture-resistant, heat-resistant base (the best in this regard is the base ceramic), inside which the cartridge is mounted, as well as a cap, which is screwed on top, covers the lamp from splashes and diffuses light through frosted (most often) glass.

Depending on how exactly is the cartridge secured?, the light bulb can either lie on one side on the base (this gives elongated oval or round, relatively flat shade shapes, something like a cabochon, if you know this cut shape),

or be perpendicular to it (the lampshade is a protruding, elongated bulb-cylinder),

or attached at an angle, which repeats the previous shape with one difference - the lampshade is tilted.

There is also an L-shaped design, in which the lamp is installed vertically in a cylindrical cap, some distance away from the wall due to the base.

The manufacturer can supply a standard cartridge E27, Suitable for incandescent, LED and halogen lamps. Or he can supply a non-standard one, for example, E14– this moment needs to be monitored and when purchasing, you need to clarify whether the lamps that you were going to install are suitable for this particular lamp.

The lampshade may be transparent or matte, be made from glass or plastic. Plastic, of course, does not produce such fragments as glass, but its use in high temperatures Oh undesirable. This is where almost the only point of choice for a Russian bath lies - at its temperatures it is quite cost-effective to install plastic.

IMPORTANT! In all other respects, the lamps for the steam room are designed for moisture protection, which is exactly what is essential for a Russian bath.

Why is it better to take heat-resistant ones for a Russian bath?

Let us list once again what makes a lamp heat-resistant:

  • ceramic base;
  • glass shade (borosilicate glass);
  • RKGM or PRKS wire in silicone insulation.

However glass And ceramics They also do not react to water in any way and do not deteriorate from it. That is, the properties overlap, and you can take a heat-resistant lamp for the steam room without thinking too much. Unless you save on plastic, if it really is cheaper, by the way. Well, on the wires, installing a wire with PVC insulation.

But we will give one argument that will make even this saving unnecessary. The point is that There are not so many devout traditionalists regarding the Russian bath, basically, habit rules, who is accustomed to what by family, social circle... And this can differ very significantly from the above figures of temperature and humidity.

In addition, many people choose iron stove, which, without lining and other manipulations that reduce its heat transfer, is simply unable to create the standards of a Russian bathhouse.

Therefore, the real heat in the steam room, which the owner sincerely considers Russian, can be like in a sauna. And this moment of conviction cannot be changed in any way. Therefore, there is no need to be clever, sharpening the electrics for impossible tasks (for a steam room with iron stove– strictly impossible) conditions.

What can you buy in the store?

On sale you can find the most different models at a price from hundreds to several thousand rubles. The base is not always made of ceramic, and the lampshade is not always made of borosilicate glass. Some models are clearly not intended to be placed in a steam room at all, but can be used on the porch or in the dressing room, some are good for the washing room.

We repeat - for the steam room you need a simple waterproof lamp with a protection class of at least IP44. For tightness, it has a rubber or silicone gasket. The ground won't be made neither wood nor plastic. Transparent or matte part, if it is made of plastic, then some kind of protection should be given to it temperature guarantees(check with the seller).

If you don’t want to deal with the entire assortment that will be offered to you in the store, first decide on a budget - Russian lamps for a steam room in a bathhouse are several times cheaper than foreign ones. Some of them are made as analogues of the most popular foreign models.

Those who have decided that a supply of heat resistance to the lighting will not harm them at all can read our review of sauna models made in.

The topic of baths has already been raised more than once, and all because it is in such a place that a person can truly rest, relax and improve his health. When setting up your bathhouse, you will need to take care of high-quality lighting. Below we will talk about how to make a lamp for a sauna and bathhouse with your own hands.

The baths are visited by many people, regardless of income, status and health. Many of them dream of having their own steam room. Moreover, a skillful owner will not only invest in such a complex, he will not hire expensive designers and craftsmen, but will be able to do most of the work himself. That is, we can say with confidence that a structure such as a bathhouse can be made and equipped with your own hands, and even more so, you can hang bath lamps, and you don’t have to be an electrician.

Bath lamps

To begin with, before you take on the job of creating bath lamps with your own hands, you should understand a number of nuances that may later affect the correctness of the work.

By and large, all of them can be described in three points:

  • You need to have connection experience electric lamps, in particular lamps for baths and saunas.
  • You will need to choose lamps with a sufficient level of protection that will not be afraid of high temperatures and excessive humidity.
  • Next, you will need to make original lampshades, decorative screens and other decorations to create a design, for example, a lampshade for a bathhouse, and also combine them with the overall decor of the bathhouse as a whole.

Due to the vastness of all the topics, everyone can glean information on the first point from the literature on the rules of working with electric shock in conditions of excessive humidity. The second point will be discussed briefly further, and the third will be considered in as much detail as possible.

Organization of lighting in the bathhouse

During creation technical project It is worth devoting enough time to developing an electrical diagram for the arrangement of lamps for a Russian bath, switches and sockets (more details: “Electricity in a bathhouse - DIY electrical installation tips”). The priority, of course, is the location of the lamps.

Almost all rooms in the bathhouse are similar to rooms in a house or apartment, and everyone should know how the lighting will be organized in them. The lighting in the room or bathroom will correspond to that in the washroom and rest room. We just need to discuss the steam room separately - the principles of lighting in it will be somewhat different.

The lighting system in a steam sauna or Russian bath must meet a number of criteria.

The main conditions are:

  • a lamp for a steam sauna bath should emit a soft light so that a person in a relaxed state does not squint and feels comfortable;
  • the lighting in the steam room is chosen to be dim, leaving a slight twilight and allowing you to relax, since it is not customary to perform any cosmetic procedures in the steam room;
  • in the steam room it is better not to use overhead lighting, since the maximum air temperature is fixed precisely under the ceiling - it is optimal to place heat-resistant sauna lamps on the central or lower levels;
  • in order to avoid injuries due to damage and failure of lighting fixtures, they must be protected with a protective screen or grille, which will prevent direct contact with electricity in conditions of high humidity, and will also prevent them from being cut by fragments if the lamp accidentally breaks;
  • Bathroom lamps made of wood, additionally installed near the font or barrel of water, at the doorway, and also above the shelves, would be useful.

By adhering to the specified conditions, you can be sure that all people in the steam room are guaranteed to enjoy the steam room and will not receive any injuries in the process.

Sauna lamps with moisture protection

To purchase truly high-quality waterproof lamps for a bath, you should pay attention to a number of significant indicators.

It is very important to keep track of:

  • So that the degree of protection of devices from moisture and coarse particles according to the international classification corresponds to values from IP 54 or more; Such data is usually indicated on the body or packaging of the lamps.
  • That the sauna lamp you choose is heat-resistant, that is, it can withstand high temperatures. As a rule, in various types of saunas the air temperature can range from 60 to 120 ºС, so it is better to choose the most protected electrical appliance. For example, in a Russian steam room the temperature can reach 100 ºС, in Turkish baths the heat resistance of the lamp should correspond to 150 ºС, and in the case of ceiling lamps you need to pay attention to devices that can withstand 200-300 ºС.

In addition, it is very important that the body of a heat-resistant lamp for a sauna and bath is reliably sealed with silicone or rubber to prevent moisture from penetrating inside the device. It is optimal to choose equipment with LED or energy-saving lamps, which heat up much less than conventional incandescent light bulbs.

Making a lamp yourself

In this section we will look at how to make a sauna lamp with your own hands. True, in this case we are talking more about decorating a finished industrial product than about assembling a complete electrical device circuit.

In particular, we will tell you how to make decorative grilles, protective screens or openwork lampshades. As for the lamps themselves, there may be various options– from fluorescent or LED to fiber optic. The choice depends only on the preferences and financial capabilities of the bathhouse owner, however, if we talk about price, fiber optic devices belong to the highest price category.

Decorating a lamp with a wooden lattice

Considering the interior of any self-built bathhouse, we can say with confidence that they very actively use various wooden elements, not only the design of walls or floors, but also decor. In particular, if in the steam room all the walls, ceiling and even the floor are made of some kind of wood, then it would be quite appropriate to place lighting in it, decorated with wooden parts.

By the way, the wooden grille you make will carry not only a decorative, but also a purely practical load - to protect the lamp from accidental damage. A wooden lattice will make the lighting more subdued and diffused, will cast beautiful shadows and highlights on all surfaces, will help you relax and detach yourself from the rest of the world. As a material for decoration, you can use leftovers and trimmings after covering the walls and ceiling in the steam room, then all the interior elements will be in one color scheme and texture.

However, if you wish to supplement the steam room specific aromas, we recommend using larch or cedar wood to make gratings. In addition, such wood is also very durable.

Examples of decorating lamps with wooden grilles can be found in the photos attached to this material.

The structure of the grille for the lamp assumes the presence of such structural elements, like a frame and small slats attached to it at the top and bottom.

When manufacturing parts, it is worth considering the following nuances:

  • the shape of the frame will be different depending on the placement and outline of the lamp itself; Thus, a wall lamp can be equipped with a semicircular or rectangular frame, and if the device is located in a corner, the base is made in the form of a triangle or trapezoid;
  • Based on the size of the lamp, select the length of the rail for the grille; all sharp corners are carefully ground and rounded to give the finished product a more perfect, finished look, as well as ensure safe operation;
  • All parts of the structure can be connected together metal screws, however, they need to be secured with inside gratings so that no steel elements are visible from the outside; this will ensure safety, since when using the bath, the screws can become very hot and burn the skin.

In general, we can say that slats are made based on the result you want to get. If you want to get a strict lattice, take rectangular slats of the required width and connect them in parallel rows or cross them in an “X” shape. If you want to get a more elegant product, the slats can be made in curly shapes.

Simple convex or concave curves in the center (you can combine them to create a kind of semicircular lattice) can be made by anyone with even basic knowledge acquired in school. And if a person also has a sufficiently developed imagination, then it would be a sin not to make the bars of the bars in the form of figures of living creatures.

We make several of these grilles, and we can assume that the lamp for the steam room is ready with our own hands.

Diffusing screen as decorative protection for the lamp

The decorative grille refers to one of the types of finishing of the lighting fixtures under consideration.

For scattering screens, as a rule, one of the following materials is used:

  • wood or bark;
  • strong and at the same time thin fabric (silk will do);
  • clay or ceramics;
  • plastic;
  • glass;
  • paper or cardboard.

In this case, however, the most acceptable material would be wood.

The choice fell on this material due to the following requirements:

  • high hardness, because the screen should not only look beautiful, but also protect from impacts;
  • having a low heat capacity, that is, the material should not overheat so as not to cause burns;
  • be easy to process with your own hands.

A number of other materials can be used to assemble elements of wooden grilles, or be part of lamps in other bath rooms, for example, rest rooms.

Building a screen for a lamp is quite simple; the manipulations are not much different from those when creating a grille. You just need to attach a straight or curved one to the base instead of slats wooden plate or a bark plate with carved patterns.

The holes can be made in any shape. Most often they are made in the form of African masks, images of the sun, fire, various colors and all kinds of silhouettes. Fortunately, on the Internet you can find a pattern for every taste; you just need to print it out and transfer it to the template.

It is worth noting that the simplest type of screen can be a shelf or its back. Instead of an LED lamp, you can purchase a waterproof one. LED strip and glue it behind the back board. As a result, we get a gentle light directed in the desired direction.

Above we looked at two of the simplest options for hand-finishing lamps for a bathhouse. There will definitely be enough of them to give the couple uniqueness, so that friends and family will definitely admire your talent. In any case, everyone will be able to relax to the fullest in such a pleasant atmosphere!

Lamps for baths and saunas – how to choose the right one?

Despite the fact that every bathhouse, as a rule, has windows, there is not always enough light falling from them to steam with sufficient comfort. For example, if you decide to go to the bathhouse in the evening, when the sun has already set below the horizon, or in gloomy weather, when the sky is covered with clouds. In addition, windows are often not installed in steam rooms at all.

Requirements for lamps

Since the lamps will have to operate in an environment with high temperature and humidity, special requirements are placed on them. This is especially true for the moisture protection class of a lighting device. You can't just hang any light bulb. You should definitely make sure that the lamp is suitable for use in a bathhouse or sauna.

For wet rooms, such as a bathroom, bathhouse or sauna, it is recommended to purchase lamps marked at least IP44 (protection from drops and splashes). It’s even better if you buy a lighting fixture with a protection rating of IP65, which guarantees complete protection against dust and water jets.

In addition to moisture protection, the luminaire must have sufficient thermal stability to ensure reliable operation over a range of temperatures environment from 20 to 130 degrees.

Types of lamps for baths

Despite the large number of commercially available lighting fixtures, not all of them are suitable for a bathhouse or sauna.

The best choice for bath lighting would be LED lamps, fiber optic lamps, halogen lamps, as well as the usual fluorescent lamps.

Let's look at their pros and cons in more detail.

In terms of price-quality ratio, it is difficult to find more economical and durable lamps comparable to LED lamps in their service life, luminous flux and the minimum voltage used for their operation.

LED lamps installed hidden behind various screens and spoilers can add a touch of surrealism to the interior, and a wide selection color palette light sources makes them clear leaders in comparison with any other types of lamps.

The fluorescent lamps familiar to us are also installed quite often. Today it is one of the most popular types light sources in baths and saunas. Moreover, they can be connected via a dimmer, which provides the ability to smoothly regulate the light flux created by fluorescent lamps.

One more modern look lighting fixtures are fiber optic luminaires.

Fiber optic lamps are resistant to high temperature and humidity, and different lens shapes can create different lighting effects.

Laying fiber optics in special niches allows you to create amazing interior solutions using decorative lighting, and when built into the ceiling, such lamps can create the effect of a starry sky:

Halogen lamps for baths

Halogen lamps are characterized by high heating temperatures during operation. Therefore, they can be used in rooms with high temperatures without fear that they will fail. The temperature inside the lamps themselves can reach up to 400 degrees.

Despite their low power consumption, halogen lamps have high value generated luminous flux, providing great attitude the cost of electricity consumed to the amount of light produced.

Installation of lamps in the bathhouse

Despite the high degree of protection from possible splashes, bathhouse lamps are often installed behind a wooden fence, which protects them from possible damage.

Manufacturers of bath lamps

Today, the market offers a wide variety of products offered by numerous lighting manufacturers from around the world, but some of them have already gained popularity.

Lamps for baths: characteristics, decoration options, lighting

terms of Use

It is very difficult to select good lamps due to the special conditions of their operation:

  • frequent temperature changes;
  • high humidity;
  • high temperature.

In this regard, not any lighting fixtures are suitable, but only waterproof lamps with high tightness. At the same time, any owner of a bathhouse or sauna wants them to be aesthetically attractive at the same time and decorate the premises, and not just illuminate them.

Requirements for lighting fixtures in baths and saunas

When the question arises about purchasing lamps for baths, you should be guided by the following characteristics:

  • resistance to moisture and high degree of security (IP from 54);
  • resistance to high temperatures and temperature changes (heat resistance up to 150, and if ceiling lighting, then up to 300);
  • good lighting abilities;
  • possibility of adjusting the degree of illumination.

Some lamp options also allow you to achieve interesting decorative effects by changing the color of the lighting and its various programs (blinking, gradual fading and switching on, etc.). This makes the lamps in the steam room a wonderful decorative element. Especially if they have an attractive design.

What you need to consider when buying lamps for your bath

As with any other room, when choosing and placing lamps in a bathhouse or sauna (both in the steam room and in the relaxation room), you must consider the following:

  • room size;
  • possibility of electrical wiring;
  • number of lamps in the lighting fixture;
  • maximum possible lamp power for the luminaire;
  • light reflectance;
  • luminaire luminous flux angle;
  • temperature of the light of the lamp used.

Thus, it is not enough to just go and choose any lamp or sconce you like and the lamp for it when it comes to a bathhouse. It is necessary to think over and create a layout scheme and, in accordance with this scheme, select suitable lighting fixtures so that the lighting in the bathhouse is sufficient for a pleasant pastime.

Lighting fixtures layout

The lighting in the bathhouse must be adequate so that there are no shadowed spaces and the time spent is comfortable for all participants at any stage.

The same rules apply to creating a light fixture layout for a recreation room as for any other room in your home. But if you choose lamps for the steam room and their location, then you need to consider the following:

  • Bright directional light on vacationers is unacceptable. He should be absent-minded and pleasant;
  • Do not forget about the excessively high temperature under the ceiling of the steam room. Even special equipment will not work for long in such conditions;
  • lighting lamps must be covered with a special screen or grilles to prevent fragments from falling on vacationers if they break;
  • additional coverage of important functional zones(shelves, doors, heater).

Grilles for lamps in the steam room

If you want your lamps to not only illuminate the room well, but at the same time be completely safe, fit into the interior and add zest to it, decorate them with grilles. You can make such a lattice yourself, using waste from wood that was used to decorate the walls of the room. This way you will get a truly complete and harmonious picture. If there is no wood left or you want to add pleasant healing aromas to the steam room, then use larch or cedar boards. You can use pine wood, but only if there is no even accidental contact between the grate and the skin of the vacationer.

Depending on the location of the lighting fixture, the shape of the grille changes. Placed in a corner should have a trapezoidal or triangular shape, and for a wall one, a square or rectangle is best suited. The semicircular bend allows you to encircle the lamp almost entirely, rather than covering it only on one side. This will create a pleasant diffused light throughout the steam room, adding warmth to its atmosphere.

For the lattice, you will need several wooden planks for the frame of the structure and thin slats for decorating it. All parts must be polished and connected only on the reverse side, so that vacationers do not even accidentally come into contact with the metal of the screws. Alternatively, the grille parts can be glued together, but in this case the strength will be lower and the maintenance-free service life is unlikely to please you. Self-tapping screws for fastening are the best option when creating a sauna grill with your own hands. In the photo below is another version of an original lampshade made by yourself.

Even ordinary straight slats on the grate add mystery and softness to the atmosphere in the steam room, but if you know how to handle tools, then you will be able to create something more interesting and artsy. It is enough to simply add corners, smooth lines or cut out any figure in the rail so that the lamp for saunas and baths becomes original decoration steam room

What lamps should I use in the bath?

Due to the good moisture resistance of special lamps, there is no particular need to use special lamps. However, the desire of the owners of baths and saunas to provide lighting in non-standard places required the creation of new lighting devices. Special moisture-resistant LEDs that can be placed even in a jacuzzi or swimming pool have created a real sensation!

Pros of using LEDs:

An additional advantage of using LED lighting is the ability to create lighting of different colors, which will make the steam room and relaxation room of the bathhouse more exotic and interesting.

Original lighting for the steam room

In addition to standard lighting fixtures, you can use lighting that can be easily installed in sun loungers. Using LEDs, you can make it yourself or buy a ready-made LED moisture-resistant strip.

Another option for interesting lighting for a steam room is fiber optics. Its only disadvantage compared to LED lighting is its higher cost. Otherwise, fiber optics are ideal for a steam room. It can be placed anywhere - from a wall or ceiling to the perimeter near the heater.

Lamps for baths - types and how to make them yourself

In this article you will find detailed information about bath lighting options, requirements for lighting devices, options for decorating them and decorating them with lighting

Lamps for a bath: features of choice

The bathhouse is considered a room with an increased risk of electric shock. To avoid trouble, lamps must meet safety standards and function reliably in extreme conditions.

Purpose of lamps for a bath

Bathroom washing lamps

In the washing room there are three sections in which lamps of different protection classes are installed:

  • Zone 1 is located directly near the water - shower, pool, tap, where there is a high risk that splashes will hit the lamp from all sides. In such places, install devices operating on 12 V, moisture protection class - at least 5 (IP 45, 46, 55, etc.).

In the washing room, all appliances must be well protected from water, steam and condensation. Mount the lamp on the ceiling so that splashes of water do not reach it. It is necessary to have a lampshade covering the contacts and the light bulb. You can install lamps in the washroom that are similar to those in an apartment bathroom.

Lamps for the dressing room and rest room in the bathhouse

The rest room is also considered a room with high humidity, so the protection class of the lamp in the rest room in the bathhouse is at least 1. It is necessary to provide good light in the room, so install a chandelier with several sockets, light bulbs, and two switches.

Lamps for steam room in bathhouse

The body of the steam room lamp must withstand temperatures of at least 100 degrees if installed on walls, and 250 degrees if attached to the ceiling. Cartridges and lampshades of products must be made of ceramics, porcelain and heat-resistant plastic. The body of such a lamp is made airtight, with a silicone or rubber seal to prevent water from getting inside. In addition, lamps are produced with protective shades to prevent injury from fragments of an accidentally broken light bulb.

  1. It is prohibited to install appliances near the stove. Even if they are heat resistant, they are not designed to handle the hot air from the heater.

Types of lamps for baths

Not all lamps are suitable for installation in a bathhouse, so their choice should be approached very responsibly:

  • Halogen lamps. In the hottest areas of the steam room, install halogen lamps with their own reflector with a power of 20-35 W. They are not afraid of high temperatures (withstand up to 400 degrees), the contacts are protected from moisture, and the voltage used is not dangerous to humans. Halogen lamps with a colored shade look beautiful.

Manufacturers of bath lamps

Finnish companies Tylo and Harvia specialize in the production waterproof lamps for baths. If possible, buy their products for the steam room or sauna. They are expensive, but they stand out high quality and reliability.

How to choose lamps for a bath

On modern market electrical appliances presented wide range lamps for baths. We invite you to familiarize yourself with devices capable of operating in extremely difficult conditions and their rules

Properly selected and installed bath lamps are not just a source of lighting. This is an important element comfortable rest and have a nice time. At the same time, we should not forget that the bathhouse has high humidity and temperature. Therefore, when choosing a lamp for a steam room, wash room, etc., you should also think about safety precautions.

For a bath, you need to choose lamps that can withstand high temperature and humidity

Safety regulations

Lamps for saunas and baths will illuminate a room where the temperature reaches 100-120°C. Therefore, they must have sufficient heat resistance.

High humidity is another source of potential danger when operating lighting devices. Therefore, a lamp for a steam room in a bathhouse or washroom must be waterproof. Additional protection will provide sealed shades that are resistant to moisture and high temperatures.

It is necessary to choose sealed lampshades for the bath

It is better to install lighting sources under the ceiling or in the corners of the room. In this case, it will be possible to avoid accidental contacts and/or mechanical damage to lighting devices due to negligence. When choosing lampshades, the main condition is tightness. To give extra aesthetic properties a simple lamp, you can use openwork wooden overlays in the form of gratings or carved screens.

It is better to install lighting in the corners of the room under the ceiling
Wooden grilles are often used to refract lighting in a bathhouse and as lampshades.

How to choose fixtures and lamps for a bath

Modern industry produces a wide range of lamps for rooms with high humidity - baths, saunas, bathrooms. These devices can use lamps such as:

  • incandescent lamps;
  • LED;
  • fiber optic.

When choosing a specific lamp, you need to pay attention not only to its design, but also to the degree of protection. The required safety class is IP 56. Such lamps are resistant to moisture.

The free space between the lampshade and the body is additionally protected by a special seal. Its integrity must be checked at the time of selection.

Nuanas! A properly selected lighting device will allow you to use it in a steam room and/or wash room ordinary incandescent lamps. Allowable power - no higher than 60 W.

For a bath you need to choose low-power incandescent lamps, up to 60 W

Incandescent lamps become very hot when burning. The temperature in the sauna room is usually high. The low power of the lamps will protect against fire. After all, the walls in a bathhouse are most often lined with wooden boards, clapboard, etc.

LED lamps for baths

Many owners are interested in whether it is possible to install LED lamps in the bathhouse. To resolve all doubts, you need to familiarize yourself with the main technical characteristics similar light sources.

The advantage of LED strip is that it is not afraid of moisture

LED bath lamps have such wonderful properties as:

  • moisture resistance;
  • fire safety;
  • adjusting the direction and/or intensity of the light flux;
  • reasonable price.

Using LED strips you can achieve an interesting lighting design in the bathhouse

The safety class of individual lamps is up to IP65 and higher. You can achieve very interesting effects by installing LED lamps in the bathhouse. Is it possible to light a steam room or wash room like this? Of course, it is possible, and even necessary. LED bath lamps are one of the most good options. They are not afraid even of direct contact with water jets. The main disadvantage of LED lamps for baths and steam rooms is their rapid deterioration under the influence of high temperatures.

It should be remembered that the remote control with which the LED lighting is controlled must be protected from moisture and dirt. To do this, you need to place it in a special case made of polyethylene film. Based on all of the above, each owner will be able to determine for himself whether LED lamps can be used in a bathhouse.

Fiber optic lamps

A great option is fiber optic bath lamps. With their help, illumination is produced by a light wave rather than electricity. Therefore, such systems are absolutely not afraid of water.

Fiber optic lamps for a steam room in a bathhouse can be installed without fear. The material from which they are made can withstand temperatures up to 180-200°C.

With the help of fiber optic lamps, you can create an atmosphere of calm, coziness and spiritual comfort in the bathhouse. This promotes self-relaxation of the human body. Beneficial effects bath procedures increase several times.

How to correctly position light sources in a steam room

Before installing lamps with one type of lighting lamp or another, you must carefully study the instructions and all the manufacturer’s instructions. It is very important to choose the right location for the light source.

In the steam room, where the temperature and humidity levels are especially high, only heat-resistant lighting fixtures can be installed. In this case, the lamps should be placed away from the stove. This is a must.

It is better to place lighting in the steam room away from the stove

The optimal location of the light source in the steam room is in the corner of the room and/or under the ceiling. In this case, you need to take into account the dimensions of the room and the size of the ceiling. The ceiling lamp should be located above human height. The corner lamp is installed so as to exclude the possibility of accidental contacts.

You can attach an LED strip along the wall under the ceiling. Under it you definitely need a base made of non-flammable heat-resistant material.

The LED strip can be placed under the shelves, but so that they do not interfere with visitors

The base for the LED strip and/or any other lighting device located in a Russian bathhouse must be made from a material such as:

  • stainless steel;
  • aluminum;
  • heat-resistant plastic;
  • ceramics (only for dry rooms).

It is better to use for lighting the steam room warm shades lighting

Important! For a lamp in a sauna, where the humidity level is much lower, you can make a base from ceramic materials.

Correct lighting for the washing area

In a small wash room, 1 lamp will be enough. The lampshade must be sealed to prevent water splashing on the lamp and/or socket.

Wiring for lighting fixtures in the bathhouse must be insulated especially carefully. This will prevent accidental contact of moisture and electricity.

Lighting in the washing room should also be moisture-proof

A large wash room requires the installation of several lamps. Therefore, when choosing their location, you need to take into account the location of the bathtub, sink, bidet, shower stall. It is better to do preliminary zoning of the premises.

As a rule, the washing room is divided into 3 zones:

  • in close proximity to a source of moisture;
  • at a distance of 0.6 m;
  • in a relatively dry space.

Near the water source is the most high level moisture. Therefore, in this area you can install 12 volt bath lamps and lamps. IP indicator for protection against moisture is at least 45 units.

A zone located approximately 60 cm from a direct source of moisture is considered remote from moisture. Here you can use lamps and lamps with an average level of protection.

LED lighting can even be used in the pool

In a dry area, located away from faucets, shower heads, swimming pools, etc., you can use lighting fixtures and lamps with the lowest level of protection.

Lighting for the rest room and other rooms

There is no constant high humidity in the rest room. Therefore, lighting fixtures with a minimum level of protection can be used here.

The dressing room, billiard room, dressing room and other additional rooms can be illuminated as living rooms. However, it is still better to use sealed lampshades made of durable material.

Energy-saving lamps can be installed in a bathhouse only in rooms with low heat levels. Such light sources can withstand temperatures no higher than 60°C. Therefore, it is dangerous to use such lamps in a steam room that heats up to 100°C or higher. Energy-saving lamps can be used in other rooms of the bathhouse - wash room, dressing room, rest room, etc.

Energy-saving lamps can only be used in the locker room and vestibule

Infrared lamps

Recently, they have become increasingly popular infrared lamps for a bath or sauna. The average power of such light sources ranges from 250 to 300 W.

The frequency of infrared radiation is about 1400-3000 nm. For technical connections when installing such devices, silicone wire is used.

Infrared radiation

A special remote control allows you to vary the radiation intensity. This allows you to set the required temperature and creates all the conditions for comfortable rest and recovery.

Mounted infrared equipment- heaters, lamps, etc. without much difficulty. The main thing is to strictly follow the manufacturer's recommendations. The number of emitters is selected in accordance with the dimensions of the room.

Salt lamps

A wonderful option offered by modern industry is salt lamps for baths. These are not just lighting fixtures. With their help, you can thoroughly improve your health and get much more pleasure from hygiene procedures and sauna relaxation.

A variety of salt lamps can be used in the bath

Modern salt lamps for baths help achieve such wonderful effects as:

  • elimination of harmful microorganisms;
  • destruction of allergens;
  • effective ionization of indoor air;
  • saturating the body with healing vapors.

Salt panels on the walls in the bathhouse heal the body

Salt lamps are industrially manufactured from hand-mined Himalayan salt. The main elements of a salt lamp are:

  • stand;
  • power cord;
  • light bulb;
  • cartridge;
  • lampshade.

Special mention should be made about lampshades for salt lighting fixtures. They are made from Himalayan salt crystals. Such lampshades have different size, shape and color. Therefore, they are easy to choose for anyone original interior.

Salt lighting in the lampshade can be placed in the corner

High-quality salt lamps are durable, practical, and silent. The main care for such a device is keeping it clean and periodically changing the light bulb.

Pay attention! Useful properties Himalayan salt, from which the lampshades are made, are preserved for many years. The intensity of salt radiation remains at the original level.

Salt lamps create favorable internal atmosphere in various rooms of the bathhouse. It helps relieve stress and fatigue, calm nervous system and saturate the body with vital elements.

How to make a screen for a lamp

To obtain diffused light and the desired aesthetic effect a moisture-resistant lamp used in a steam room and/or a washroom is decorated with a special screen.

Grilles and screens are usually installed for lamps in the steam room.

Making a decorative screen from wood is not difficult. To work you will need:

  • a piece of timber or board - for the base;
  • wooden slats;
  • hacksaw;
  • hammer;
  • electric drill;
  • fastening material;
  • sandpaper;
  • ruler and/or tape measure;
  • antiseptic.

First you need to make a base from a board or timber. For example, cut out 2 parts same shape. You need to attach “ears” to them in order to hang them on the wall later.

Reason for wall lamp can be made in the shape of a semicircle, square or rectangle. For a corner sconce, it is better to take a triangle or trapezoid as a basis.

The size of the decorative screen is calculated based on the dimensions of the lighting fixture, which must fit freely inside.

All wooden elements must be carefully processed before assembly. sandpaper. Sand the ribs and sharp edges. It is advisable to hide the fasteners inside during assembly. This will protect against accidental contacts and give the finished product a stylish look.

Wooden slats are attached on top of the base using screws, self-tapping screws and/or small nails. They can be placed at an angle, vertically, etc. If you use your imagination, you will get a stylish sconce that will decorate the interior bath room.

Small gaps should be left between the slats to allow light to pass freely. Instead of slats, you can use a piece of plywood. On it you can cut out a pattern from simple components according to preliminary markings.

Screens can be of various designs, for example, with carved screens

All wooden materials for making the screen must be pre-treated with an antiseptic and moisture-proof compounds. Fasteners are used only from stainless materials.

It's better to make a removable screen. This will allow you to periodically remove it for thorough drying and minor repairs. For example, to replace accidentally damaged items. The removable screen will make it easier to care for the lamp and replace lamps that have become unusable.

Glue or paint coatings must not be used. When exposed to temperature and moisture, they will emit harmful fumes and unpleasant odors.

The question of which lamps to use in the bathhouse is decided by each owner independently. The main thing is to do right choice. When installing and using various lighting devices, you should strictly follow the attached instructions and safety rules.

Lighting design is perhaps the most important part general impression about the bath: how dim and soft the light in the steam room is, depends on how vacationers feel about the bath procedures, and how beautiful and stylish the lamps in the guest room are, creating an impression of the taste of the owners. But choosing a lamp for a steam room is not so easy - it has its own subtleties and nuances.

General requirements for bath lamps

The high temperature and humidity of the bath place their own demands on lighting devices - you cannot hang any lamp there. And you shouldn’t even be guided by the opinion of a construction supermarket consultant alone - it’s better to find out in advance about all the lighting requirements in a humid and hot Russian bathhouse, and protect yourself. And the requirements are simple: complete tightness, a certain voltage and marking of the lamp itself. And it is important that water cannot accidentally get on the latter - this is dangerous even for those specially protected from this, because they also get very hot.

According to many bathhouse attendants, best lamps for baths and saunas - German, with frosted glass and ceramic body. You can mount it either on the wall or not on the ceiling - unless in a steam room, of course. All parts of the cartridge are made of ceramic - only the contacts are metal, and therefore it can easily withstand up to 125˚C, and the silicone gasket protects well from the penetration of splashes, steam and dust.

Only those bathhouse lamps that have too bright and direct light need to be covered with wooden grilles - this is necessary to diffuse it. But with frosted glass it is already soft, and therefore no additional lampshade is needed.

What type of lamp is best for a steam room?

This question cannot be answered unequivocally - each of the above has its own pros and cons. Choose those that are most suitable for your bath:

Halogen lamps - for the hottest areas

Halogen lamps with their built-in reflectors have recently gained enormous popularity - they can be safely installed even in a steam room. They usually have a power of 20-35 W, are not afraid of elevated ambient temperatures, and have structural protection against splashes or accidental touches.

What is the advantage of halogen lamps? Their continuous spectrum is closer to that of the human body than that of standard incandescent lamps. And most importantly, they use an absolutely safe supply voltage. Bath attendants often joke that halogen lamps even like elevated temperatures - after all, they themselves are capable of heating up to 400˚C from the inside.

By the way, halogen paws with a colored lamp are also available for sale, although they are not so easy to find.

Fluorescent lamps - adjustable brightness

You can also use fluorescent lamps in the bathhouse - energy-saving and not integrated, but not those with an electromagnetic choke. They tolerate high temperatures well, but not frost. The brightness of such lamps can be adjusted, which gives them certain advantages.

Fiber optic lamps - convenient and stylish

Bright and stylish fiber optic lights for a bathhouse are also not a bad option, but it’s important to connect them correctly, strictly according to the instructions, in compliance with all fire regulations.

Fashionable LEDs - an outlet for designers

But LED lamps for baths do not like heat - in a steam room they need to be placed as low as possible to the floor. Their brightness is high, but the color range is rich, which is why bathhouse attendants most often place them behind and under shelves - a kind of mysterious space station-style lighting that doesn’t hit the eyes.

What lamps cannot be placed in a bathhouse?

Ordinary incandescent lamps, which require special mechanical protection and threaten to explode into thousands of small fragments when hit by a drop, and gas-discharge lamps with their high power and poor color rendition, are not suitable for a bathhouse.

Yes, other lamps also need to be protected from splashes, but because of wooden sheathing If you didn’t get “striped” shadows, it’s better to point the lamps themselves in the opposite direction – onto pre-installed reflective convex plates made of matte stainless steel.

Master class: stylish lamp for the bathhouse with your own hands

Due to the fashion for individuality and exclusivity in the interior, many are looking for stylish and unusual lamps for baths and saunas - various kinds of lampshades and glass flowers become boring at home. And they find - fortunately, modern manufacturer I am only pleased with the imagination and implementation of the idea. But he also asks a considerable price for his creativity - from $400 to $800 for the most decent options. So why not make such bathhouse lamps with your own hands without spending $10 on it? Moreover, there is nothing complicated about it. And then let friends and acquaintances guess how much this light miracle was bought for and from which foreign manufacturer.

The main thing is that the savings in this regard are just what you need! Wood, for example, for such a lamp, you can take the one that went to interior decoration baths You will also need the following materials:

  • Glass 4 mm
  • Plywood
  • Special PET film with a temperature range of no less than 120˚C
  • LEDs with an illumination angle of 120˚С
  • Getinax – electrical insulating material
  • Aluminum tape
  • Construction adhesive and superglue

So, here's what you will need to do:

Step 1. Templates for the main parts are made from fiberboard. To be sure, the same template should be applied to the corner where the lamp is located.

Step 2. The main parts of the frame are made using templates - preferably from linden. Vertical slats are also planed from it, the edges of which will need to be rounded:

  • 4 pieces 750 x 35 x 15 cm
  • 8 pieces 750 x 40 x 15 cm
  • 4 pieces 750 x 45 x 15 cm
  • 1 piece 550 x 50 x 20 cm - this is where the groove for the glass is made

Step 3. The main parts are fastened to the slats, and all joints are carefully coated with universal mounting adhesive, then tightened with 70 mm long self-tapping screws.

Step 4. To support the glass, special strips are attached. The glass itself is cut out of the prepared material and wrapped in PET film. What kind of film is this? It is commonly used to rewind motors as insulation.

Step 5. The slats are sawn, tried on and coated with assembly adhesive, after which they are tightened with self-tapping screws.

Step 6. Now you need to take a rail with parameters 750x45x15 - and mark on it the points where exactly the hole will be drilled. With two such slats the glass will be fixed in place. Moreover, the outer vertical slats must be fixed with screws from the reverse side.

Step 7 In regular Word, make a table with 3x3 cm cells and print it out. This sheet of paper needs to be glued to a sheet of getinax for the lamp and the intersections of the lines must be drilled. The diameter of the holes should be about 5 mm - the diameter of the LED. Then - with a drill larger size you need to make conical recesses so that the light from the LEDs is more directional. After this, the paper can be washed off with water.

Step 8 Now the LEDs should be glued to the back of the panel using regular superglue. There will be 80 of them in total - you need to solder them in 4 pieces. You will get 20 LEDs, 4 at each point, and all of this is designed for 12 volts. The reflector for them will be aluminum tape.

Step 9 We install the power supply - it can be the same as for halogen light bulbs. You just need to place it outside the steam room, running only a cable through the wall to the lamp. The total consumption of this stylish and inexpensive lamp will be some 250mA, which is equal to 3 W.

Step 10 And finally, all the slats are attached to the frame with self-tapping screws - it is only important to choose them at a length at which they will not come out from the front side. And the panel with LEDs is wrapped in PET film and attached.

That's all - a stylish, durable and beautiful lamp for the steam room is ready!
